Arnold Shwartzeneggger almost turned down the role of The Terminator (arguably his most famous role) because the part had only 23 lines in the whole movie.
Abraham Lincoln was a famous wrestler in his youth. He had only 1 loss in about 300 matches.
Mark Twain (Samuel Clemmons) went to Nevada (as detailed in his book Roughing It) because he signed a bail note for a friend who jumped bail & he didn't have the money to pay it. He left that part out. (He had a tendency to not let mere facts hinder a good story.)

When I was growing up, the 3 most prominent Sci-fi authors were Asimov, Clarke, and Heinlein. All 3 also wrote important nonfiction articles & Asimov +Clarke both wrote FAR more nonfiction than fiction. In fact, less than 1% of everything Asimove ever wrote was Sci-fi.
