Is Star Wars: Tales of the Empire good?

    I'm genuinely asking.

To be honest with you guys, I'm pretty much done with Disney Star Wars. I've just recently finished watching the series finale of "The Bad Batch" which is a pretty decent show overall. The final season as a whole felt really slow and dull, but it was okay.

Greetings, everyone! This is Mr. J back with another movie review for today! This evening, I will be reviewing the fourth installment of the MonsterVerse series: “Godzilla vs Kong”. This is my favorite MonsterVerse movie out of all four so far as it has amazing visuals, Kong having a character arc, more intriguing subplots, unforgettable characters, and most importantly…two alpha titans finally meeting face to face.

This film unites two powerful titans together in an all-new battle to the death to show who is mightier. But that comes to a halt once a sinister scheme unravels a deadly threat to both the titans and the world itself.

This movie proved to be worth the watch in every way; it has everything I would want in a MonsterVerse movie—character growth, tons of action especially at the start of the movie, Godzilla being a badass, Kong having more screen time, and the villain having more menacing presence.

The acting was pretty great as well. Alexander Skarsgard, Millie Bobby Brown, Brian Tyree Henry, Rebecca Hall, and Julian Dennison played some really interesting character roles. Some people may not like them—especially the secondary characters—but I found them to be really fun to watch.

The soundtrack, visual effects, and action are just as flawless as before if not better.

What I especially found more interesting about this movie is how it focuses more on Kong than on Godzilla. In fact, he’s seen more as the protagonist who discovers the mystery behind his family, where he came from, and how he can beat his enemies. He even gets to connect with the humans through sign language which is a really nice addition to his character.

Plus, Godzilla is seen as the villain in this movie but an honorable type of antagonist.
Did you see the way he triumphed over King during their rematch? You saw how he even laughed when he struck him with his atomic breath? Man, ‘Zilla was a straight-up savage in this movie.

But their differences are set aside once a new enemy (or rather a reformatted foe) arises to the surface. MechaGodzilla was ferocious and intimidating during the third act; it took both Godzilla and Kong to defeat him for good which shows us that both alpha titans could co-exist together so long as they stay out of each other’s way and both despise a greater evil.

Giving Kong more personality and character is what made this movie a lot more special to me, in my opinion. What separates him from Godzilla is his demeanor and how he sees the world around him. But then it brings up a rather surprising issue: ‘Zilla never got that same treatment. Don’t we deserve to see our lizard boy get some character development as well?

It’s great Kong got more heart and good writing and all, but I wanted to see the same for ‘Zilla too. It just makes the film a little too one-sided and biased for monkey boy. If both were given equal care and attention, then this would’ve been a perfect movie.

But nonetheless, this was amazing. I give it a mighty 11/10! I absolutely love this series, and I cannot wait to see where they’ll go next for the fifth movie.

Peace!

This movie had my heart racing at the theater!

If I may ask…

Do you plan on checking out the 2005 “King Kong” movie by Peter Jackson? Mainly the extended version?

I haven’t seen it. Although I wouldn’t checking the MonsterVerse films out at some point in the future. Especially considering the next film is set for release next year.

IMO the perfect mashup of King Kong vs. Godzilla and Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla! This movie took both major plots and seamlessly welded them together! The best way to reintroduce the rivalry between the Eighth Wonder of the World and the King of the Monsters, and Godzilla’s second archenemy!
