Some Life Updates · 12:14am Aug 1st, 2023

It's official, I am medicated. They got me on some stuff for my stomach, which I thought was an ulcer but is just (probably) gerd, which makes my stomach acid splash up my throat sometimes. Lemme tell ya, this hurts a fuck load even with the extra strength Gravol doing its thing. I've lost a lot of sleep to this as it will sometimes wake me up in the middle of the night and hurt so bad I lay there for hours. I don't need to tell ya how bad this sucks.

I'm also on some anxiety meds, and my doc put me on a list so I can get tested for autism and ADHD. These are not likely to come through for years though, the list is long, and there are few docs out there doing the testing. He feels confident in both things though which I guess makes sense, as I've certainly seen this coming for a while.

Gonna take a bit until I see the benefits of any one of the three different meds I'm on but the relief I feel is immense. I've struggled with incredibly painful and near-constant heartburn for months, as well as a few really bad panic attacks. These new meds should help with both of those things and eventually, they were thinking of getting me on some better stuff for anxiety/depression. None of these meds are cheap, but a program might be coming down the pipe via the province to help and for now I can just barely afford it.

What does this mean for ya'll?

Well, more updates and a faster turnaround on your commissions if the meds work. I've been perpetually exhausted, stressed out, and self-medicating with booze and weed up until now (Not a ton mind you, just when the days are bad). Both of which I will have to quit cold turkey as they clash with my meds but w/e I don't mind so long as the meds work as I'm not much of a drinker or a smoker.
And yeah, that's been my last week or so.

Finally, I just want to apologize to those of you waiting on commissions. I know it seems like I've been making tons of excuses these past few months and that my struggles with mental health have made dealing with me difficult, but I feel like this is a turning point. I've finally gone to the appointments I've been putting off forever, I got the meds I was supposed to pick up weeks ago, and I got some therapy lined up for the end of the month.

So yeah, here's to a productive month, and the start of something beautiful!

My current goal is to crush so much of my backlog, that I can open public commissions again by the end of the month, but that's a bit of a moonshot.

Take your time your health is more important right now, so take your time.

Watch out for not just food, there is a crazy number of ways it can work you over without you realising what it is at first.

Herbs, Spices, dont forget those delicious flavours were evolved by plants as extreme irritants to make animals stop trying to eat them. They can just as easily irritate your stomach and gut.

One of the most annoying I found in later life was volume of food. Bowl of cereal, no problem if its hotel or kiddie sized, but a full on 4 inch bowl? Up to extreme unpleasantness and reejection at worst.

Watch out for lactose intolerance finally kicking in cos evolution decided to finally catch up, if you dont have it already.

Worst case? Watch out for laundry perfumes, and vapes drifting bye, and just hope you never get sensitive enough to be dropped by third hand emmisions.:pinkiesad2:

I hope that these meds will help you put. *hug* Your health is important.

I gotta say from personal experience. GERD sucks.

And don't let the doctors keep you on medication for too long. The medicine they give you does not stop the acid from going up your throat, it just makes it less acidic. And repeated exposure to this acid starts your esophagus converting to different tissue, which is not a stable change and will eventually lead to cancer.

Find the root cause. For me it was a partial hiatial hernia. If the root cause is a mechanical problem, get a mechanical fix. If this is the case, the doctors and the insurance company will try to keep you on medicine forever... which WILL cause long term problems.

I cannot stress this enough: Find the root cause! GERD is NOT a chemical problem, and it is not a phychological issue either. Something is preventing the valve at the top of your stomach from functioning properly. Until this physical problem is corrected, medicine will only offer temporary relief, and if you have had it for more than a few weeks, it is likely you will need surgical correction.

Reach out to me if you want more details. GERD seems like such a minor inconvience to people who have not had to deail with it and torture to people who suffer through it, but the fact that it kills people is kept quiet.

Thankfully I'm in canada so there are no companies trying to keep me on anything.

end of the month

Do you realize you only got a couple more hours til the month is over? There's no way you gonna get that much done in such a short time.

Next month, you silly goose.

Lol dude I'm in the same boat. It hasn't been diagnosed by a doctor, but I get seriously painful heartburn if I so much as drink water without a strong antacid like omeprazole, things like tums isn't strong enough. Got diagnosed with adhd as a kid, and going by what people on the autism spectrum have said about the way I act and my experiences I'm possibly on it too. If you have crohns then we have a matched set :derpytongue2:! Hopefully you don't because that sucks, it only caused me actual pain once but I had to be hospitalized it was so bad.

Don't forget to eat high fiber foods when you are having stomach acid issues. When I was taking many kinds of meds blood thinners cough medicines there was a lot eating decent size bowl of oatmeal helped balance out the acid in the stomach so depending how severe it is I recommend oatmeal in the morning and at night though I may not be a doctor any food that has high fiber will help you greatly or at least make it very bearable to eat other Foods besides water and medicines so also avoid sugars or salt and if you really can't live without sugars and salts throughout the day that's your own business good luck and I hope you get better.
