Greetings, everyone! This is Mr. J back with another TV show review for today! This afternoon, I will be reviewing one of my all-time favorite cartoons called “My Life as a Teenage Robot”. This is the one animated series I’ve wanted to review for the longest time but couldn’t due to other commitments. I have been watching this series ever since childhood, and believe it or not, it was the first cartoon that ever made me imagine what it would be like to actually live in a cartoon world. This show is both memorable, amazing, a bit annoying, and adorable all at the same time.

This is about a teenage robot girl who lives with her human creator/mother and lives her life to protect her town from the forces of evil. Her wacky adventures at home, school, town, and everywhere else attract both friends and enemies alike…and hardcore fans who have developed a crush on this robot.

To all the boys/men who are reading this review, you cannot tell me straight to my face and say that you didn’t have a crush on this heroine. To tell you the truth: I had a crush on this animated character when I was a kid. I’m not sure if it’s because of her unique design, her cute voice, her personality, or all of the above. Bless Janice Kawaye for her adorable voice for Jenny Wakeman/XJ9. Plus, it’s amazing to see a character who not only struggles to live a normal life as a robot amongst human teenagers but also learn to adapt to them and be a source of inspiration for everyone.

Unfortunately, a lot of fans have taken their attraction to her a bit…too far, to say the least. And Primus knows how many people were traumatized by that—actually, no, no, no. I don’t wanna talk about that. Nope! Nope! Some people have no clue what I’m referring to, so just leave it at that. Sorry, was I talking to myself? Don’t worry, I’m fine….yeah…

Anyway, I really enjoyed the humor, the episodic tone, and the supporting characters this series created. I’m not sure which of these characters are my favorites aside from Jenny, but if I had to pick a select few, it would be Tuck, Brad, Sheldon, and—actually now that I think about it, pretty much everyone is my favorite! That also includes the villains of the show!

Speaking of which, Vexus is such a formidable antagonist. Although she doesn’t stand out amongst some of my other favorite villains, she does have charisma and determination to carry out her evil plans despite her setbacks. And I like how she often tries to get Jenny to join the Cluster as she sees the potential in her in being a powerful weapon against humanity. The late Eartha Kitt was the perfect choice to voice this beautiful queen. Huh, seems like Yzma wanted to try a different villain career after her disastrous falling out with Kronk.

The soundtrack is pretty decent, the background characters are more or less entertaining, and there isn’t a single episode I found to be disappointing or bad honestly. I remember every episode I’ve watched and re-watched and all the times I’ve found myself having a great time doing so. That in itself shows that Rob Renzetti put a lot of time and effort in making this show a memorable classic that kids (both boys and girls) can enjoy as well as be able to relate to the protagonist.

I cannot express enough how much I love this character. Not because she’s cute but also because I can relate to her. There were times, when I was attending middle school as a child, I found myself the odd one amongst my classmates because I had different tastes or different opinions. Watching this show encouraged me to be who I am and never be afraid to stand up for what I believe is the right thing to do. Jenny is an icon, and I will fight those who disagree. Well, not really, but you get what I mean.

For those reasons, I will rate this show a 5/5: Circuity and metallic! It’s a shame this is a Nickelodeon show and not a Warner Bros series. I would LOVE to see a crossover between Jenny and the Joker. Trust me, it would make me a happy clown forever. Oh, and I hope to see this show return soon.

Peace!

Well said.

Finally, someone who gets the absolute PERFECTION of this show.

Also, we all had a crush on Jenny as a kid, let's be honest.

Wanna give a mention to the Crust Cousins if only for their voice actress; Tiff is voiced by the well-known Cree Summer, while Brit is voiced by Moira Quirk, who before this series was referee for Nickelodeon's Guts.
