Celestia help me I'm back on my bullshit.
Actually to tell the truth it's been a long time coming. The fact that it's stuck in my brain like a burr and rekindles every time I see a redemption fic and I mutter under my breath for at least a week meant that it was going to happen eventually. Eventually is now I guess because I'm officially at the point where if I don't write SOMETHING about her I'm going to bite off my own feet. Also the more I rewatched the more ideas I had. The more ideas I had, the more I realized, to my insurmountable horror and despair that I had the material in my brain for a series of connected shorts. Shorts that could probably work just as well as chapters.
What I'm saying is I have to write words now because the pink jerk horse ruined my life.
Not that one, the other one.
No, the OTHER one.
There we go.
Anyway, I'm still in the crazy headcanons honeymoon phase and not really ready for an outline yet, much less knowing if I'm going to have a multi-chaptered thing or two smaller multi-chaptered things or several connected shorts or what. We'll see. In the meantime, what almost certainly WILL happen is a warm-up fic and entry into the Thousand Words contest. Assuming I remember how to write that short. It's nothing much, and I don't think I'll win (I'm not sure what genre it even qualifies as). It's really more an attempt to get my feet wet both for the character and for Equestria after writing so long about military spacebugs who don't know how to talk about their emotions. (One of One of which I'm still in the middle of writing and will probably be jumping back and forth on. Hopefully.)
So far, the most I've got is a decently sized Spotify playlist. In my book, this counts as pre-writing so there's at least an 85% chance of this thing happening.
For real though, I write slow and am coming off a long fallow season. The larger fic probably won't exist until at LEAST September. Publication in October if we're lucky.

I’m not that interested in Cozy Glow as a character, though to be fair, I also wasn’t particularly partial to Silver and Diamond until I stumbled upon a certain fic. Can’t wait to see you work your magic again.
Truly there is no escaping the siren call of the ponies.
Characters are nothing but blank canvas with prompts, and they only get attention from people because they have at least one of the two things:
Imagination and Compassion.
If you have neither of these, then characters mean nothing to you, no matter what lays behind them.
Either you have them yourself, or someone else who has it fed them to you through a story.
I'm glad to see these elements are still getting passed on through the members of our community around here, especially you.

Something I learned about myself is the best way to get me to obsess about a character is for that character to be widely dismissed or the one I fervently disagree with everyone's interpretation of. Usually both. (Cozy is arguably a case of both.)

See, the original plan was to not say anything and then like a month later just bust through the door with a 15k fic like nothing ever happened. but an announcement blog will probably keep me from chickening out before the rough draft. Probably.

Me too! Because I still don't know which story idea(s) are actually going to make it out of my brain yet and which ones get lost in the shuffle. Might be one of them, might be all of them. But with the Cozy contest gearing up for another round this year it'll at LEAST be one of them and probably the one best done as a one-shot. That will likely be either:
A) The one where Luna drops into her dream (very likely)
B) G5 conspiracy theory origin story/slow-burn revenge plot (likely if i can do it cleanly)
C) The one where Cozy gets to grapple with a mild existential crisis of what is or isn't in someone's nature and also maybe gets fight training with Tirek. (unlikely as a one-shot but likely as part of the multi-chapter when/if it becomes a thing)
