I once again ask... · 2:06am Jun 23rd, 2023

Are there any queer friendly groups in this site?

I just saw a couple of threads on a couple of groups (no need to bring too much attention to those) that ended up brimming with queerphobia in general and transphobia in particular. And I'm tired. I may have come out fairly recently (two-three years now?), but I've seen enough queerphobia in my life for the rest of it.

Though, the worst is finding it in this site. I was aware this fandom was not perfect, I've had my encounters with bigotry here before, but seeing still present these days is just tiring. Probably the reason I don't even participate in groups anymore.

P.S.: And queer friendly means explicitly queer friendly. I don't care for groups with a blanket "group for everyone", but any conversation about trans rights gets locked the moment too many transphobes whine about it. I am not interested in people who see me as an acceptable loss for the comfort of others.

Well, I'm not aware of one, but you could start one.

Nah, don't feel obligated either. Honestly, this was more venting at this point. But thanks for the sentiment.

I'm actually surprised you found that many anti-LGBT people here. I've joked how this site is more a LGBT social media site now than it is a MLP fanfic site haha. Fimfic has always come across as one of the most queer friendly sites there is.

Besides the LGBT group you posted in, I can't think of any explicitly pro-LGBT groups here. To be honest, reviving that group from the coffin would be good since anti-LGBT messaging has become insane online since a year ago. If you think this site has anti-LGBT sentiment, just go to Twitter.

Well, probably because I only came out post-pandemic, and most groups I joined in my decade here were fandom ones. And you know how toxic some fandom get sometimes. But glad to hear there's enough space for others to have a better, more positive interaction than what I've gotten so far.

And I com from Twitter. Still feeling the burns from Bridget being canonically trans in Guilty Gear,
