Me: (to my sibling) Can you pass the salt?
Sibling: That's a condition. Hmm...should I?
Me: It would be terribly wonderful if you passed the salt.
That was literally my expression.

Okay.
This reminds me of something I used to hear often in my lessons before I got study leave.
Student: Can I go to the toilet?
Teacher: You can, but I won't give you permission.
Student: But-
Teacher: School policy.
Funny. I'd pass the salt if I was that sibling LOL

LOL. That reminds me a little of when I was in Class 4.
Student: Miss, can I go to the bathroom?
Teacher: You're asking me if you have the ability to; if you're capable of going there.
And then she told us to replace the word "can" with "may" because then we'd actually be asking for permission.

Of course they passed it then, because if they still didn't, I would've just pulled it off them and began Sibling War XVI. We'd had many wars between ourselves, but we always manage to get peace in the end.
And then Sibling I will fight with me and Sibling II, and we'll start war again.
