What's The Future For G5? · 4:39am Apr 23rd, 2023
So, it's no news at this point that G5 is widely considered inferior to G4. But it bothers me to no end just how much of a bad reputation it's gotten in this last year.
When A New Generation came out, things actually seemed quite promising, and the majority of the brony community seemed willing to give this new series a chance. Then Tell Your Tale and Make Your Mark came out, and the reception was a little more mixed then. But regardless, there still seemed to be enough positive feedback to believe G5 would be able to last.
And now...well, I'm not even sure when I came to realise just how negative things were. Maybe it was after watching ACRacebest's reaction to Winter Wishday (where, apparently, the usual collaborators of that channel begged him not to watch it). But in any case, it seems that the fans of G5 have been largely overshadowed by the haters.
There's also the question of TYT's new release schedule. As of the start of this year, it's changed from a weekly episode release to a fortnightly release. Now that might be so that the remaining episodes will coincide with MYM Chapter 4. But...with no further news regarding MYM, and Hasbro evidently going through a loss in sales, I'm starting to worry. What if there's currently no guarantee there'll be more MYM, and TYT's new release schedule is just Hasbro buying themselves more time to try and turn things around?
Maybe I'm just extremely paranoid. Things have just changed a lot within the fanbase and it's really affecting my mentality. Right now, my sources of positivity are mainly from fellow user Admiral Producer, FaolanCortez on YouTube, and various contributors on Derpibooru. I'm so grateful that, despite all the negativity surrounding the fandom, I can turn to them to cheer me up.
Regardless of what happens to G5, whether it continues for the full run or gets the plug pulled on it, I may end up leaving the MLP community for good once it ends. In the former case, it's because I'll have seen enough and be content to move on once it's over. In the latter, it'll be out of anger and disappointment. Frankly, why should I give the next generation a chance if G5 didn't get enough of one?
Until then, I guess all I can do is just wait and see if and when we get more content.
Well, I've been enjoying G5 a lot. The new kids have more than lived up to the legacy Twilight and the other left for them
