I don't remember if I ever showed this off, but if I didn't, have it now!
That would be our main character, Quinn, who's half unicorn/half human, wants to be a wizard, and is struggling with balancing life between Earth and Equestria. I got about 60% of it completed, and then I petered out, but I do hope to have this finished, edited, and start publishing soon. IDK when though, but soon.
And another excerpt:
“They all do that,” he told her, a sentiment he communicated to her probably fifty times by now. “Why is everyone ever the worst? Everyone except you.”
“I don’t know,” the filly shrugged. “But that’s why they’re in friendship school, I guess. Not like us, since we just think it’s fun. But I bet a lot of humans need to go here, too. Maybe as much as ponies.” Before Quinn could interject, she finished, “Maybe half breeds like us are just the best at friendship, since we know how not to be mean to each other.”
That made him smile, although he didn’t know how true that was, since he really only had one friend. He didn’t dwell on it though, continuing, “I hope Twilight Sparkle’s school is better than this place, or the other school in Ponyville. Or the one on Earth.” The fourth time was the charm, right?
“I think it will be, but I kind of like friendship school. I mean, a lot of creatures here are weird, but once you start making friends, it gets easier.”
“I’m not gonna make friends with animals, especially not ones who treat me like dirt,” he said, crossing his hooves and flattening his ears as he did. “All of the creatures here are dumb.”
“Some of them are, but some of them are nice. It’s like Headmare Glimmer says! You never know who you’re gonna meet by just saying hello!”
He knew he was going to meet here if he did that, but he couldn’t be angry at her positivity. Someone had to be the positive one between the two.
“Well, I don’t know about that, but I do know that all I’m gonna do is study until I’m sure I can pass any test Ms. Sparkle gives to me, and then be a wizard and show everyone. They’re gonna be sorry that they ever tried to make fun of me or look at me weird.”
