It never fails.

I feel so guilty about not working on my story.

Presently I am back to searching for work.

I have an intense dislike for recruiters and for businesses that appear to want to interview you to death. Or for recruiter companies where you apply for a stock, common, all-garden variety CRM development position ... but the recruiter throws a tech exam at you that involves you need to apply Dijkstra's algorithm over arbitrary graphs ... and the last time you used this was 25 years ago during an exam at University. What kind of CRM system is going to require me to use wild algorithms to track customer purchases?

There's the usual personal drama regarding my boyfriend whom I'm hoping to get to meet very shortly. Then issues at home. Dealing with Christmas, a time of year that I despise.

That's funny.

In Australia - the interview process for a position as a software engineer with a large, multi-national real estate company? About twenty minutes. I was offered the job on the spot.

The current job here in America:

  1. Send in applications like EasyApply off LinkedIn.
  2. Thirty-minute technical phone interview after which I am invited to apply for the same job ... just on a different system.
  3. In-person technical interview lasting over an hour.
  4. My reference list is requested, which I send to them.
  5. I am told the references are fine, but to send them in again using a different system.
  6. I am granted a third interview - over an hour and a half in person.
  7. I am told I have the job, they just need to get the paperwork to HR.
  8. I am told the paperwork they submitted is in the wrong flavor and to reapply.
  9. I am now waiting to be told how they want to get my fingerprint check finished.

This is now week 7 of one job application.
