Corporations truly do have no shame.
Continuing from my previous blog on the topic, the firestorm clearly has been enough to give pause, but not out of any true consideration for the people. Wizards of the Coast delayed their announcement of the new OGL, but, leaks of their intended FAQ for said announcement shows exactly how stupid they think their community is. Make no mistake, they've shown their true colours, and the moment they think the heat has died down enough that they can do this, they're still going to.
Thankfully, wheels are already in motion to render the OGL effectively obsolete. Spearheaded by the company behind Pathfinder at that. Soon DnD will be left in the dust as companies build their own systems, with a license that truly is free.
We never needed them. It was always the other way around. And now they're going to learn that the hard way.
Hasbro has always been pretty decent about the Brony fandom here. Knighty got kicked off Patreon but they never made a peep. There’s folks making a living writing horsewords without any license at all! They’re walking most of the really greedy stuff back for now, and even if they slip it back in they’ve always got Games Workshop to make them look good…
