Happy New Year 2023 · 5:48pm Dec 31st, 2022
I think we can all agree that 2022 had been a rather crappy year. I definitely hope that 2023 will prove to be much better, although it's justifiably doubtful.
My heart goes out to Ukrainians who have managed to survive to see the New Year, and I hope your country will see victory soon. I hold no love for Russia, and I only wish it surrenders soon and stops trying to kill you and take your land because of a dictator. We can all hope Putin will fall over and die as soon as possible, along with everyone who supports him and who justifies this war. I hope you will meet summer 2023 as people who have fought against - and defeated - an invader. Once you emerge victorious and grieve for those who didn't live to see the victory, I will grieve alongside you. Слава Україні!
My heart goes out to LGBT+ people everywhere as well, and I wish people stopped trying to kill or oppress us. To those in countries that are especially dangerous for LGBT+ - you are not alone, even if it may feel like it. We're everywhere, and we're not going away. We will survive, we will live, and we will thrive, even if it will take longer than should be acceptable. Let's hope year 2023 will see an improvement in our treatment. And remember this as well - the first Pride was a riot.
There are more people that I'd like to wish a happy New Year as well, but then the post would be a bit too long. It is already longer than I initially thought it would be, but I needed to write a few words on causes that matter a lot to me right now.
Happy new year to you too
