New Year's Resolution for me is to write more, and to get better at it · 3:57am Dec 28th, 2022
That means a few things. I'm gonna try to write something every month. Whether or not it's good, whether or not I'm entirely happy with it, it's getting uploaded. I'm gonna try to dip my toes into slice of life stuff. I feel like I've always been better at writing adventure stuff (Not that you'd know that from reading my old stories on this site. On a related note, don't read my older stories on this site) but I enjoy reading about mundane day-to-day hijinks. I looooooove hijinks. I'm not good at writing them, though, so that's what I'll be focusing on next year. Right now, I'm working on a story where Rarity tries to relax after a long period of exclusively working, and Rainbow Dash and Pinkie Pie attempt to make sure nothing interrupts her day off. Antics abound. Kinda trying to emulate the feel of an early FiM episode - think Seasons 2 or 3.
In addition to this, I am finally internalizing a lesson from elementary school English: Revise and edit. I have a bad habit of getting an idea in my head, putting a bunch of words on my screen, and then hitting "Submit" before I take a step back and think "Okay, how can I make this better?" This has resulted in a lot of impulsive work that I'm not terribly proud of. Gonna try to stop that from happening again. Or at least as much.
