I almost skipped this episode thinking it's that winter episode.
Why do cups have handles if the ponies hold them from the opposite side? And how can they hold it? And why are animators so lazy?
The snow is falling, but there's no snow on the ground or anywhere else.
Sunny puts pepper into the dough. Those are gonna be some spicy cookies...
Happy New Moon? So they celebrate every month instead of just once a year?
Zipp's voice sucks even more than usual. Which is bad because royals are forced to sing on this day?
What's with Izzy and boxes? It feels like there's an intimate connection between them.
Hitch grandma doesn't have a silly name like Piggy. She has a silly name like Figgy.
Winter Wish Day? What happened to New Moon and Hearthsworming Day?
Sunny forces her friends not just into cannibalism, but into self-cannibalism.

Sunny removes the lantern, but the toy still stays magical.
The toy smashes in the lighthouse, self-destructs and kills everypony.

5705216 Due to all the inconsistencies, I'm starting to suspect that they employ an AI to write for them. I mean, there's nothing wrong with that, but you should at least edit what AI charms up. AI can provide a good first draft, but you're not supposed to just role with it without fixing any of the issues.
One thing that I did like is how they set a dark tone throughout the episode with Sunny's Wishing Star. They foreshadowed it so much and made it the main conflict. But then, because this is a holiday special, they get there in time and nothing bad happens. All their wishes just come true. At any other time, I'd give them shit for that, but because at this time we have some holiday spirit, the episode makes sense (minus all the crap they pulled off in between)

It was a Christmas Special of Ponies for the sake of making a 'Christmas Special' without any real reason or explanations. I watched it once, just once. No need to, because it was so forgettable. Not a good sign.
