I CANNOT CEASE LISTENING TO THIS SONG!!!

The Hobbit is the best movie I have seen all year. Even better than The Avengers. I love it beyond words.

The song isn't available due to copyright :(

And to think that The Hobbit was just a children's book. Who would imagine that something made for younger audiences could gain such a wide following and multigenerational audience?

J. R. R. Tolkien was quite the literary genius. The entire series is designed to grow with the reader. The Hobbit is children middle school reading level book, while the Lord of the Rings trilogy was closer to high school level reading. Now The Silmarillion? Ya, that one makes college professors heads hurt.
Add in some of the greatest directors of the age and a blank check budget? Pure win.
I am looking forward to seeing this on Imax at my local cinema.

You lucky bastard. I want to see it so badly. But, sadly, all of my money is going into paying off loans...

Stupid loans.

I enjoyed the movie. I did not, however, like the 48fps filming.

613838 At first I was confused about the 48fps, because to me it looked like everything was running at 1.5-2X speed even while the dialogue didn't sound like it at all. It was awkward, and then I got used to it. Then I looked it up and saw that why everything was so much smoother than anything I'd ever seen before was because they'd filmed it with twice the number of frames per second compared to past films. So in essence it was running faster.

I'm probably seeing it again in that format tonight, so I'm reserving judgement until going through a second screening and then seeing it later in standard 24fps.

613470 However, seeing said movie and getting incredibly pumped up from the song has put me into an extreme battle-writing mood. Oh, and look at that! Sora, Riku, Kairi, Roxas, Namine, and Yuffie are all fighting orcs right now in Annals of Darkness. :pinkiehappy:

You're getting an update for Christmas.

616085 That's part of my problem - it felt like I was watching the movie on 1.5x. It also felt TOO sharp, too crisp, for me - and I say this as somebody who routinely sees the world as slightly fuzzy due to terrible vision. The thing that really got me, though, is how badly it strained my eyes - my right eye in particularly was badly stressed and it took both eyes until this morning to recover from watching the movie.

I want to see it again in 24fps so I can compare, really.

616098 I know that I'm nearsighted and essentially can't leave my glasses off if I want to do anything, ever. I just took them off and I can't even read what I'm typing on my laptop from my chair. The only reason I know what I'm writing is because I have the key positions completely memorized and if I get a letter wrong Google Chrome tells me that I've made a mistake with that squiggly little line underneath. Started to strain my eyes after a few seconds.

Woo. There. Glasses back on, and I can see the screen clearly again. I know that the 48fps and 3D didn't hurt my eyes at all, but I will admit again that it was weird. However, I got used to it after a while.

I wish I could feel the same. I seriously need inspiration for the next chapter of Looming Darkness. Good Lord is it kicking my ass. The only thing I have ready for it is a gathering of all the various leaders I have placed into the Alliance.

Any ideas on getting some inspiration?

My Elvish is a bit weak. Translation please?

616283 It's Sindarin, and it's essentially, "The pleasure is mine my friend." Sindarin's a bit trickier than Quenya because it's not as complete as Quenya is, which is funny because Sindarin shows up more frequently in LOTR and The Hobbit than Quenya does. Although, all of Namárië (Q. farewell) is in Quenya, as is "Aiya! Earendil, elenion ancalima! (Q. Hail! Earendil, brightest of stars!).

616425
Ah I see. Thanks for the clarification.

616122 I have some rather extensive problems with my eyes, including a fairly rare one, which could be contributing to the problems I had with the 48fps. Nearsightedness is one of my problems (although not quite to the extent of yours, but pretty close, although even with glasses I'm still near-sighted.) The cyclotorsion I have is the real killer though and might be why I had so much trouble.

613420 Yeah, imagine that... *frolicks among candy-colored ponies and sings a happy song of greeting* Welcome welcome, da-bu da-bu... *Bardock charges in and punches him!* Stop that! Shame on you!

:trollestia:

I fucking LOVE this movie. :pinkiehappy:
