Left Hook

I've noticed in my own stories, mostly ones I haven't posted yet, that I tend to take jabs at fics I don't like. Whether I notice this while writing or not, I always add in some off-handed comment by a character or the narration, marking a certain string of events that is the plot of another fic, as either impossible in this story, or as non-canon to it.

If you've read what little of Self-Bolt I've written as of yet, you probably caught the dig towards Cupcakes. And, in a writing project I'm waiting until I have at least a full first chapter of each story before posting any of them, one of the main villains' whole motivation is that he had a vision that was just the first couple of chapters of Cat's Cradle.

Maybe for my next fic I'll do the opposite. Just make a ton of allusions to fics I really like.
