Weekly Writing Update #15 · 12:17pm Nov 28th, 2022
I've written little over the past week, unfortunately, but it's better than zero. Temperatures here dropped below -25C and that does a number on me for sure. It's cold enough that I don't want to leave my room, let alone the house. I mostly want to lie in bed all day all wrapped in a nice warm blanket because, well, it's cold, and my apartment is cold because the windows are old. I also found out that when this house was built, the construction crews outright forgot to put thermal insulation under the window frame. Found it out on accident, but that really explains why there's always a bit of a cold wind coming from the low part of the windows. If I am right, it applies to every single window in the house that hasn't been replaced with new plastic windows. Absolutely awful.
Anyway, I hope to write more soon, but I'll be all tuckered out in my bed until the weather improves.
Did you ever get your window fixed?

Still just a plastic sheet over the hole. However, I found a far more serious problem with my window, one that contributes to it not insulating properly - during construction of my apartment, workers outright forgot to put in any insulation under the window frame. I only have water insulation there and that's it. And that's not something I can fix without some major work, which won't be great in the middle of winter when it's -20C and below.
But I'm doing well, it's actually not all that cold in my room unless it is below -25C when I need to turn on an electric heater. So I'll survive.
