"Wait, my new camera can do RAW format? How much of a difference does that make-" · 8:16am Nov 24th, 2022
Destroyed by a fire, this is from the Australian observatory where Nobel Prize winner Peter Mould proved that the universe was expanding. During WW2 artillery glasses and bomber sites were manufactured here, using the astronomers as specialists in very precise glass instruments.
DSS-43, the only antenna in the world capable of still sending orders to Voyager 2. Up the hill is the dish that was used to receive the Apollo transmissions - but it's not as photogenic.
Some spiders in Australia hunt by webbing a leaf into the shape of a flower, and hiding at the bottom. The spider then waits for insects to try and drink nectar from the flower, pouncing its prey. This spider's trap has endured long after the plant did.
This is a Fairy wren!
I had to take this from pretty far away, I'm stretching the limits of my resolution here - so I didn't see the zombie bugs until hours later!
Wow these are good.
Great shots! And RAW format really does make a difference.
Aww hey, that 3rd last one is a bandicoot! (or quenda in the native tongue).
They hop through the bush to my back door and we throw them bananas.
Nice shots mate!
Gorgeous
Not bad
Nice photos!
Turtle: Stares Menacingly

I have known human women who also respond in exactly that manner when you take a photo of them.
..even best camera still need photographer behind. So, thanks for being 'man behind the camera'!
This was a beautiful collection of pics to wake up to. Thank you.
Beautiful work! The first turtle pic is really striking; made me chuckle because he looks so intense.
How are you processing the images? Do you use standard LUTs for the camera, or do you mess with the curves on your own?

I'm using a Nikon D850 now, and I've been using its 'flat' setting. I don't actually know if that qualifies as an LUT preset, this is the first I'm hearing the term that I remember, but that strikes me as making intuitive sense from what I just Googled. I've just been throwing stuff into Lightroom as usual and been in absolute awe of just how much wider and more precise the changes I can make are. Wouldn't know where to begin to start getting more granular than that

Cool! LUTs are pretty much presets (Look Up Tables) usually provided by the camera maker for converting the camera's color space to a human eye range, but tweaking the levels on your own is the way to go for really sophisticated looks.
Whatever you're doing, you're certainly getting impressive results!
You're lucky to live in such a diverse area.
