Allies and Enemies of Solaria · 3:10pm Nov 18th, 2022
Hey all,
Since there's a bit of a lull in my job applications, and I want to get back into a creative mind-space, I figured that doing a couple write-ups about the different factions might do the trick. So, I open the floor to you, my readers.
Here's how this is going to go. There are five members of the Solar Alliance aside from the sun-gazers: Feathered serpents, colaurata, selkies, kirintal and phoenixes, and there are four established opposing factions: raptorians, blight hags, the Cult of Endless Decay, and the Harbingers of Lightning.
In a comment, chose one of the allied factions, and one of the opposing factions, and I will do a short "high level overview" of their culture, social structure, military (if any) etc. of the two with the most votes as a blog.
Thanks in advance to everyone who chimes in.

Ooh, this should be fun. I’ll go with kirintal and blight hags.
I'll go for the Kirintal and the Harbingers of Lightning as my vote!
Harbingers of lightning sounds interesting. Ill go with that and kirintal, like the previous comment
At the moment I'm more interested in the villains of your story like the cult of endless decay the raptorians and the harbingers of lightning. I guess for the coalition I would go with either the selkies or kirintal.
Kirintal and Cult of Endless Decay sounds creeeeepy.
Feathered Serpents and Harbingers of Lightning.
I would like to know who Luna's allies are?

I'll give it another day, but from the looks of things, the top two are the Kirintal and Heralds of Lightning.

Luna's ally races are:
- moon wolves
- the chiroptera (bat people)
- banshees
- baku (nightmare eaters)
and
- spilosoma (semi-humanoid moth people that resemble vestial tiger moths.)

Moon dogs + witch wolves = moon wolves?
You been reading a certain story? Lol

I don't know? Which story are you talking about.
The idea for the moon wolves (the Selenian counterpart to the phoenixes) came from Spike being a canid in EG. And since wolves are the canid most strongly associated with the moon, well, call me unoriginal, but I liked the symbolism.

Ah. I'm afraid I haven't read it. I take it it's good?

It's pretty fun when you wanna just read something fun. Not that well written, but really entertaining.
Something I've wondered ever since the rulers of other nations arrived at the ceremony, are there other immortals besides them? Like the ruler of the feathered serpents mentioned it being 200 years since they'd last seen Raven Inkwell, are they immortal too or just very long-lived. And what of Queen Nova and Princess Skystar?

It's a mixed group. A few, like Quetzalcoatl and Lumina, are true, primordial gods like the Siblings. The rest are demi-gods, in that they are divine beings, but they aren't primordials created by Harmony. Instead, they are the bearers of a fallen primordial's power through a process similar to ascension. The exact process varies by group.
For example, Novo and Skystar bear the power of the primordial of water (who I haven't named yet) through the Pearl of Transformation. The primordial itself was killed in the Chaos War by Grogar, but it's power was preserved by Harmony in the Pearl. In their case, Novo carries the majority of the primordial's power, while Skystar is on par with an ascendant. Should Novo be killed, Skystar would become the new vessel, and would pass on the power to her child in the event of her own death. By contrast, the kirintal do not have inherited demi-gods, but rather earned demi-gods, in that Rain Shine and Black Jade earned their place by proving themselves worthy of their position by climbing the path up Mt. Meru to drink from the divine spring at it's summit.
