The storm was getting worse. Rainbow Dash fought against the wind fiercely. The storm wasn't scheduled for another week! Rainbow dived as a lightning bolt almost hit her. There was a sudden shout from the side.
"RAINB--!" Rainbow Dash turned to see a flash of light slam into a yellow pegasus.
She watched as Ditzy spiralled towards the ground. There was nothing she could do. She slammed her back hooves into one of the smaller storm clouds. The storm was ferocious now. It was like some invisible force was going on a rampage. There was a sudden flash. Rainbow looked down to see three blurs dive out of Sugarcube Corner. Pegasi were being slammed out of the sky like flies. Nopony was going to die today. Rainbow suddenly sped upwards towards the eye of the storm. She was going to end this. Everyone stared upwards. What was she doing? Was she insane? Pinkie Pie looked upwards and her eyes widened as she saw what her friend was doing. Everypony stared at the sky out of their windows. Twilight and the other 3 mares joined Pinkie.
"WHAT IS SHE DOING!?" Shouted Twilight. Pinkie Pie didn't speak. She just stared up at the sky watching her friend risk her life. Rainbow struggled against the now raging winds. Just when Rainbow's hooves had almost hit the cloud something hard slammed into her. She only thought one thing before she crashed into the ground. 'I tried.'

Authors Notes: Just a short chapter to introduce the story. I know this chapter probably isn't enough to make you cry but I'll try to make at least the last chapter make you cry. Don't forget to tell me what you think!
The pink party pony stared up at the rainbow that had just formed overhead. It had been 3 days since Rainbow Dash's death. She hadn't come out of her room for the whole time. After the storm Pinkie was forced to move into a hotel until Sugarcube Corner was rebuilt. A small tear formed in the corner of her eye. She had tried not to cry but she couldn't. The tears kept coming back. Her best friend was dead. No more pranks. They had so much fun together. She took her eyes off of the rainbow and turned round sadly. She couldn't help but cry. She had known Rainbow Dash for so long. They had pulled great pranks together. A sad smile appeared on Pinkie's face as she remembered her. It was over now. She could never replace Rainbow Dash. She was a great pranker. Pinkie got up and walked towards her Party Cannon. She opened a cupboard and went to sit back on the bed. Her party days were over. She looked back at the cupboard. Or were they?
BANG! The previously bare table was now covered with a brightly coloured table cloth and balloons. Pinkie smiled to herself. Rainbow Dash would be proud. She wouldn't want Pinkie to be sad. That's just not...well...Pinkie! Pinkie continued firing the Party Cannon until the whole room was brightyly decorated. Streamers hung from the walls and each table was decorated with a brightly coloured cloth and some balloons. The whole room was one giant party! Pinkie smiled even more now. It was time to party!

Applejack sat in the doorway of the barn thinking of all the races she had with Rainbow Dash. She laughed when she remembered how stubborn Dash had often been, but it was only a small chuckle. She sat there in silence thinking of all the fun they used to have with each other. It was hard to believe she was gone. She heard the sound of heavy hoofsteps coming towards her.
"Hey, Big Mac." She said sadly as her brother sat down next to her.
"Hey, Sis." He replied. His voice was lacking it's usual cheeriness. It was deep and sad. It made it even more depressing for Applejack to see her brother like that. She sat there staring at the clouds. It seemed like the sun would never shine again.
"How d'ya think she woulda felt if she had become a Wonderbolt?" Applejack asked. Big Mac looked at her.
"Dunno." They sat looking at the clouds together. There sadness occasionally overcome by a memory and they would smile. But it just went right back to grief.
Applejack stood alone under the night sky, her breath coming out as mist. Then...she began to run. She ran the way The Running of the Leaves went. She had occasional memories of her and Rainbow Dash running side by side. The leaves whipped up beside her hooves as they hit they ground. Her mane flapped in the wind and her coat became ruffled. She slammed her front hooves into the ground and she screeched to a halt. She looked across the horizon and a tear ran down her cheek. She turned and began to gallop back to Sweet Apple Acres remembering the iron pony competition.
Applejack stared at the envelope on her bed. Who would send a letter this late. It was probably the mailmare Derpy. She held the letter opener and sliced. She pulled out the letter. It was an invitation!
I, Pinkamena Diane Pie would like to invite you to a party to celebrate the life of the late Rainbow Dash
Applejack stared at the invitation. That was all there was. But why would Pinkie Pie want to celebrate Rainbow Dash's death? It was strange but Applejack decided she would go. She needed to find out why Pinkie would send this type of letter.
