DISCLAIMER: DO NOT READ THIS DESCRIPTION OR THIS STORY IF YOU HAVEN'T READ MY FIRST ONE "Dean's New Life". I don't want this to spoil anything for new people. - It was all a dream to Dean Yarlo, All of it, from beginning to end, he is sad day to day remembering that dream and how much he wishes it was real. One Day Alex, his friend asks Dean if he wants to go camping with him and Max, and what they find blows them away... - Hope you enjoy!
Chapter 1 A Camping Trip _______________________________________________________________________________
I hear a chirping bird which wakes me up, I roll over to put my hoof over Pinkie. I hear a poof sound and I open my eyes to see nopony there, and my hand, still just a dream... Ponyville... Pinkie... Wedding... all lies...
“Pinkie...” I say quietly to the empty room, I hear nothing but outside birds and cars going by. I pull my hand up to my face to examine it, I shake my head and put my hand down. “Why couldn't it have been real?...” I whisper to nothing. I get up out of bed and walk over to the bathroom, I step in the doorway of the bathroom and the first thing I see, is my reflection in the mirror.
In the mirror is not a pegasus, it's a simple human, me, in the clothes I wore yesterday, my black hair all messed up. I do not see a tail or wings, just human Dean. I walk into the bathroom and up to the mirror, expecting me to change or something, but it doesn't happen, so, it was all fake... my eyes tear up. It was all a stupid freaking dream.
I feel anger rise in me the more I think about it. I shake my head at the reflection of me, and walk out of the bathroom. I walk into the living room and then into the kitchen, I fix myself some cereal and sit down and eat. I still can't believe it was still a dream...
As I put my bowl in the sink I hear a knocking at my door, I fast walk over to the door and open it to see Alex and Max standing there, “Hey guys...” I say. “Are you still glum about that dream dude?” Alex asks me, I say nothing. Alex just sighs and says “Whatever, anyway well Max and I have come up with a plan to help get your mind off your dream.”
“Oh yeah?” I say raising an eyebrow, “And what's that?” I cross my arms. Alex stands there for a moment as I stare at him, whatever is on his mind is probably not good. “Camping.” He says. “Where are we going to camp? And besides I don't have a tent or anything for camping.”
“Don't worry about that, we got enough stuff for a whole weekend!” Max exclaims, he must really like camping. “So come on dude, it'd be awesome! 3 buds just hanging out in the middle of the forest acting like idiots.” Alex says.
I guess camping would be okay, it would help get my mind off of the dream, and how it never happened, which is still eating me up inside. I grab my wallet and keys and lock up before heading to Alex's car.
Max yells “Shotgun!” as he opens the passenger door and hops in, giving me a goofy grin, I shrug and hop in the back, I am able to squeeze in, even though there is a bunch of camping stuff in the seats. Alex gets in, we all buckle, and he starts the car. “So where are we camping?” I ask.
Alex answers my question by driving up into my yard and going around the house to the forest behind it, good thing there is a path big enough for the car. The path isn’t long and we stop when the path ends. “There is a clearing over there.” Alex says.
We bring the stuff over and start to set up, it doesn't take long, though the tents wanted to be a pain, but we got all three of them up. I look down at my watch, six-thirty, my stomach grumbles a bit. “Hopefully you guys brought food.” They pull out the cooler and bring out some hotdogs and buns.
We set up a fire and eat some food, we continue telling jokes and stories, I'm not even thinking about the dream right now, too busy laughing at Alex telling us a joke, dirty one of course. I press the button on my watch to lighten it, ten o'clock. I kind of want to take a walk, just to get some exercise.
I ask Alex and Max if they want to go walking around, they shake their head, “Nah man, we about to nod off soon, why are you going?” Alex asks. I shrug, “Why not, I don't think anythings going to get me, besides a walk would make me feel better.” I say. “Still feeling bad about the dream?” Max asks. I nod. I tell them good night and begin my walk.
I don't bring a flashlight cause I don't want to alert any critters around here, this is why I like winter, it's so peaceful, it's quiet, it's cool, which is way better than heat. I would rather freeze than burn up.
I try to stay close to the campsite, but I can see the fire a good distance away. I lean up against a tree and sigh, I hear a rustling sound next to me, I look over and see a pile of leaves...the portal? Can it be?
I immediately move push the leaves out of the way, hoping that a portal is there. I move all the leave and see no portal, no new life... I sit down on the ground. I was so sure that was the portal. Why does nothing go right for me.
I stand up and walk around some more, upset about not finding the portal. I start to head back to camp when I hear something. A groan of sorts, or moan or something, I tense up and turn around, no one is standing there.
I listen for more sounds and I don't hear anything, I look to my right and I see something strange in the moonlight, a form of sorts. As I get closer I notice more about it, it's purple, and it isn't human... I look around it and see five more forms and they aren't human either...they're ponies...and the purple one's name is Twilight Sparkle...
I move closer and I see the others...Rainbow...Rarity...Fluttershy...Applejack...and......Pinkie... It takes my mind a moment to figure out what is going on. I then think, great I am asleep again, no way this can't be true, my other dream was a lie too, so I pinch myself, nope didn't wake up, so this isn't a dream... this is real...
I stand their, dumbfounded, and also curious, why, why are they here? Why are the Elements of Harmony here, I look at the six ponies laying on the ground. Are they asleep? or... I think the worst. I quickly run up to the closest one, it's hard to tell in this light, but I think it's Rarity.
I lean down put my ear to her mouth, and put my hand on her side, I feel relief to see she is still breathing, I quickly check the others, they are alive as well... but there's still that question, why are they here? On earth?
I look over to the campfire, its not that far, maybe I can run over to see if Alex and Max can help me, they won't believe me that's for sure. I look back at them and quietly say, “I will be right back...” even though they can't hear me.
I run back toward the campfire as fast as I can, I almost trip a couple of times on roots, I make it to the camp and tap Alex's tent, “Alex.” I whisper loudly. He snorts and says “Huh? Whas wha?” he unzips the tent and says “Hey, whats up?” he says with a groggy smile. “Dude, you have to come see this. Like right now...” I say in a frantic voice.
He groans, “Ugh, can't it wait til morning?” he lays back down not even closing the tent back. “No man! This is like...huge...” I say “Come on!” I shake him a bit. “Dude I am too tired to care what is in that forest right now.” He says covering himself with his sleeping bag. I sigh, “Damn it Alex, this is important, lives are at stake right now!”
He pushes the bag down and looks at me, “Lives? Who's life?” he says. I sigh and say, “Well, you won't believe me if I told you, so I'm not going to, I'm going to show you. Come on!” He sighs and says, “Fine. But it better be good.” he gets out of the tent. “We should get Max to help us too.” I say, “We will need it.”
Alex sighs and says “Fine, but he's going to kick your ass for waking him up, you know he doesn't like being woke up in the middle of the night... just like I will if this isn't important.” I shrug, “I don't care, this is important.” I say.
I smack Max's tent, “Yo Max, wake up! We need your help!” I say. Max groans and says, “No... Leave me alone...” “But dude, this is important and we have to hurry!” I say. Max growls a bit and unzips his tent and climbs out of it, standing up he says “What's the issue?” I look down and say “Can't tell you, you will change your mind if I do.”
“I'm going to change my mind if you do not tell me what this 'issue' is.” Max says, crossing his arms. I sigh, “Okay, well... you will laugh your ass off, I know you will... well, I found something, of course. What it is...well... there is six of them, and they aren't small, they are different colors an-” Alex holds up his hand, “Get to the point!” he yells.
I take in a deep breath, “I found the six ponies from my dream passed out in the forest, they look like they are hurt, I don't know why they are here, but it must be important, so we need to hurry!” I say in one breath.
There is silence in the air as Alex and Max stare at me, the silence lasts about a minute before Alex blinks and says, “What the hell are you smoking? You are letting this dream get to your head too much, go help your fantasy ponies, I'm going to bed.” Max shakes his head and says “You are insane dude.” they both go back to their tents and get back into bed, leaving me standing there.
I stomp the ground, “Fine...I will prove it to you!” and I take off back toward the six unconscious mares. I don't look back as I am running through the trees.
As I reach the area where they are, a little voice in the back of my head was telling me I was crazy, I didn't see anything, there is nothing there. I started to believe that voice until I saw the six mares laying there still, thank god I am not crazy.
I walk over to Pinkie's unconscious body and start to lift her, good lord she is heavy, too much candy I guess. I finally get a good grip and hold her in my arms, I start to walk back to the camp. This might take a while...
I shuffle through the leaves on the ground, my arms are about to give out, but I ignore the pain in my arms and continue on to the camp to prove to my friends that I am not crazy. I notice a smell coming from Pinkie, cotton candy, just like in my dream. The smell makes me smile.
I finally arrive on the camp and I lay Pinkie down slowly close to the fire so she can stay warm, I walk over and smack Alex's tent again, “AGH, what now Dean!” he yells, I unzip his tent flap and say “You think I'm crazy? Look...” he looks at me and says “No, dude you just need some sleep, just go to bed, we will deal with it in the morning...” he yawns.
I groan a bit and say “Dude would you just look, won't take you but 2 seconds...” Alex sighs and says “Ugh, fine. If it will make you leave me alone.” I turn around to see if Pinkie is still laying there, she is, she has her eyes closed. I walk over to her as Alex climbs out of his tent.
I sit down next to her and look at Alex, Alex blinks the sleep away from his eyes, rubs them, and opens them. He stops moving for a second, like time has stopped for him and not me, he stares at the pink pony laying next to me and after a few quiet seconds he says “I-is that...?” he blinks and I nod.
Alex continues to stare at Pinkie, he can't seem to believe it's real, that I was not crazy. “Maybe I'm going crazy too...” he says. I slowly put my hand on Pinkie's side, to prove that my hand won't phase through her. He blinks again, “She...she's real...” he says.
I nod, “I need you and Max to help me get the others over here.” I say standing up. Alex goes over to Max's tent and smacks it, he opens the flap and says “Damn it De- Alex?” Alex points to Pinkie and says “He wasn't joking, they are real and they are hurt, come on we need to get the other five...” Max's eyes widen at the pink mare lying next to the fire, keeping warm.
They follow me back to the area where they are at, their jaws drop when they see the other five laying there. I scoop up what looks to be Twilight, I hold her in my arms, she's a bit lighter than Pinkie but still heavy. I look at Alex and Max and they nod and grab one to bring back to camp.
We head back as fast as we can, and carefully back to the camp, I put down Twilight next to Pinkie, close to the fire so they stay warm. Max places down Rarity as Alex places Rainbow down. I look at the four ponies lying there, hopefully the warmth of the fire is helping them. Alex and Max head back to get the last two, Applejack and Fluttershy. I stay behind to keep an eye on the others.
They come back with the others in hand and they place them down, I stand there and look at them, “What's wrong with them?” Max asks. I shake my head, “I don't know but I hope they are okay.” I say. We all sit down and watch over them, to make sure nothing disturbs them.
About an hour goes by, and I see Twilight move a little bit, she's waking up, I look over at her, I don't want to go near her, I might scare her if I do, I look over at Alex and Max, they are watching too. I am actually happy that I am not the only one witnessing this. Twilight opens her eyes and sits up, she doesn't notice us at first, she looks at her friends, “Where are we?” She asks.
“Earth.” I say, making her jump, “Sorry didn't mean to startle you...” “That voice, I know it.” She says, which confuses me. I get up, her watching me, “You know my voice?” I ask. She looks me in the eyes “Dean Yarlo? Is that you?” she asks.
Time seems to stop right there, she knows my name? “How do you know my name?” I ask, She looks at me and says, “How could I forget the name of the stallion who married Pinkie Pie?”
Chapter 3 The Truth _______________________________________________________________________________
My mind is gone, it has been blown out of my head, I look at the purple pony like she has lobsters crawling out of her ears, did she really say what I think she said. She looks more closely at me and says “It is you! We have been looking for you! You just disappeared out of thin air at the wedding, making Pinkie really upset, she hasn't stopped crying ever since.”
I look at the pink pony and sigh, “It wasn't a dream then...” I say, Twilight looks at me, confused, “What?” she asks, I turn around and look at Alex, he was dumbfounded by all of this, Max too. “Dude I guess you're 'dream' was real, but how?”
“I don't know Alex-” I say, but I am interrupted by Twilight “Alex? You disappeared the same time Dean did. Rainbow is pretty upset.” Alex stares at Twilight and says “Wait, I was never there, I think I would remember that if I was there... though... I was asleep yesterday before I went over to Dean's house to say what's up, I didn't really want to tell you Dean, but I did have some sort of dream or something, it's kind of fuzzy right now, but all I remember is some kind of large Fire demon and You and I were fighting it...as pegasus... That's all I remember. Who is Rainbow?”
I point to the cyan pegasus who is still out. “Why were you guys knocked out?” I ask. “Well, it took us a while to find out where you went, a couple of weeks actually...” she says. Weeks? It's only been a couple of days since the dream, guess time is different in the worlds...
“Once I found out where you disappeared to, I cast a spell on all six of us and it took us here and threw us on the ground, knocking us out, it didn't tickle to be honest.” Twilight explains rubbing her head with her hoof.
I look back over at the others and I see Pinkie moving around a little, my heart skips, what will I say to her? How will she react to seeing me as...this...? A simple human... Pinkie slowly opens her eyes and says “Where are we?” and she looks over at me. I want to run up and hug her, but...
“Ah, you're up Pinkie!” Twilight says. Pinkie smiles at her and asks, “How did we get here and who are they, I can't see them very well.” “We helped you over here, My two friends and I, we carried you from where you landed to here so you can keep warm next to the fire.” Max says, thank goodness they don't know him, at least I don't think.
Pinkie and Twilight smile, “Thank you, it is a bit cold out here.” Twilight says. Pinkie walks up to me, I try to keep my cool as she walks up, “What's your name?” she asks me. I sigh, I have to tell her and show her now. I take a deep breath and walk to the fire.
As my face comes into the light, Pinkie's expression change from questioned to shock. “D-Dean?” She asks. I look down and nod, “Yeah, it's me...Dean...” I look back up and see that her face changed again, into a big smile. Next thing I know I'm knocked to the ground by Pinkie tackling me with a hug. “I missed you so much Dean!”
I hear Alex chuckle behind me, “Shut up Alex, Just wait til Rainbow wakes up.” I say to him. His face completely changes when I say that. “What do you mean?” he asks, “Oh you'll see.” I chuckle back, Pinkie is still hugging me saying she missed me.
I look down at her and see she has tears of joy in her eyes, I sigh and hug her back. “I missed you too Pinkie.” This is awkward for me, because I'm not a pony anymore. I wish I was, otherwise I would be way happier.
We sit there as the rest of them wake up, we tell them what happened and tell them who we are. Alex says who he is last, and when he does Rainbow's eyes widen, she runs toward him and tackles him in a hug, he yelps and says “Agh, hey, What was that for?” Rainbow looks at him and says “Don't you remember me Alex? It's me Rainbow Dash, we practically dated the whole time you were there, you stayed at my house.” Alex continues to look at her, not knowing what she is talking about.
Rainbow gets off of Alex and shakes her head, “How do you not remember me?” she asks, Alex shrugs and says “All I remember was fighting with Dean, against a huge demon that threw fireballs, that's it, I don't even know if we destroyed it or not.” Rainbow's eyes start to water, “So you don't remember our relationship at all, what we did together.” she says, trying not to cry. Alex shakes his head.
Rainbow looks down and walks away from Alex, softly crying. Applejack walks over to comfort Rainbow. I look at Alex, he sighs and says “I'm sorry, I wish I knew, cause I believe you now, but my brain doesn't remember anything except that one thing.”
I sigh and say “I think we should head to bed and worry about this tomorrow, it's...” I glance at my watch, “...four o'clock and I'm tired.” I look at the tents, and back at everybody and pony, not enough tents, “Maybe we should head back to the house, since there is not enough tents for everyone...and pony.” Alex says. I nod and we pack our stuff in the car's trunk, trying to fit all of the tents in.
We get the stuff in the trunk, “Hop in.” I ask the ponies, who just stare at me, even Pinkie is confused. Twilight goes up to it and inspects it, she puts her hoof on it and asks, “What is this thing? Even I haven't seen or read of this before.”
“It's a car, it takes us places, kind of like a wagon, but motorized, you don't want these in your world, trust me...” I say. Alex gets in the front seat and starts it making all of the ponies jump, Fluttershy yelps and hides behind Rarity. “Come on, it's not going to eat you.” Alex says, chuckling a bit. Rainbow laughs and says “I'm not afraid of some car!” she jumps in and sits next to the window. “Nope it's not eating me, it's safe!” she says.
I hold the door as the others jump in, amazingly they all fit in the backseat, though they are quite squished, I close the door gently, but hard enough so it closes. I move up the front seat and sit in the middle seat, Max coming in after me. I whisper to Alex “Don't go to fast, we don't want any hurt ponies.” he nods.
He puts the car in gear, all six of the ponies watching him, the car starts to move down the road, the ponies watching the scenery go by through the windows, “This contraption is simply amazing, why in Celestia's name do you say we shouldn't have this in Equestria?”
“Two reasons, One, It would be very hard to drive it since you do not have hands. And Two, They are horrible to the environment, remember that smell that came about the air when Alex cranked the car? Yeah that stuff is not good...It's pollution...” I explain.
“Then why do you humans have them? If they are bad to the environment?” Twilight asks. I shake my head, “I have asked myself that question also, our world is so filled with filth, it's insane.” I say. We keep going down the dirt road in silence. I look back at them, I can't really see them, but I can tell they are tired.
We finally break out of the forest, and pull up to the back door, thank goodness I have a key for that door, I don't want anybody seeing them and thinking strange stuff is happening. We all get out, except for the ponies, then I realize they can't open the door, I open the door for them and they hop out.
I walk up to my backdoor and unlock it and open it, the ponies go in then Alex, Max, and I. I close the door, lock it behind me. “Why do you have to lock your doors?” Pinkie asks me. I sigh and say, “Because human's are horrible creatures, we want the other ones that we don't know out of our house, you ponies don't have to worry about that, because your world is full of happiness, as our world is chaos.”
We all go into the living room and they stand there in the middle of the room, looking around at everything. They are so curious of our world, I don't blame them, our world is complicated. “I guess you can all stay here for the night, I have chairs and sofa's for you to sleep on. I think I have enough blankets, but I can turn on the heat also.” I walk over to the thermostat and set it for eighty degrees, should be warm enough.
The heater kicks on and I walk back in the living room, “Heat should be coming in soon.” I look over at Alex and Max“Hey man we're gonna head out, to get some sleep. See ya later.” they go out the backdoor, I go over and lock it. I have this odd feeling they won't come back, they probably want nothing to do with this.
I walk back to the living room to find all the ponies laying down on the couch and chairs, eyes already closed, I smile and walk over to the closet and count the blankets I have stocked, just in case of guests. I have six blankets, thank goodness, I pull them out and lay them in the middle of the living room, I put a blanket on each of them, they snuggle their blankets. I can't help but smile, they are so adorable.
I walk into my room and lay in the bed, I lay back on my pillow, So it wasn't a dream, it all really happened, I could not be happier than I am right now! I cuddle my blanket and close my eyes. I hope tomorrow will be a great day, like this one was.
Chapter 4 The Next Day ________________________________________________________________________________
I awake in the middle of the night, hearing footsteps in my room. I imagine the worst, someone broke in. I can't see anything, the room is pitch black. I then feel something bump my bed, and climb on it, I tense up, I slowly reach over to the lamp and flick it on.
I see a pink pony climbing in the bed, who jumps and yelps slightly and almost falls of the bed, I grab hold of her hoof. "Pinkie? Good lord you scared me..." I say to her. Her face saddens, "Sorry Dean... I was just wanting to sleep in here with you, is that okay?" She asks. I nod and say "Of course it's okay. We are technically married right? Even though... I'm not...a Pegasus anymore..." I sigh.
She walks across the bed and hugs me, "I don't care that you aren't a pony anymore, I love you the same way, pony or human, you are still Dean... in here." She points to my heart. I smile, and hug her, "I love you too Pinkie Pie." I say. I pull the covers down to let her in, she climbs under the blankets and snuggles me, I turn off the lamp and put an arm around Pinkie and close my eyes.
I hear the sounds of birds chirping, I open my eyes and see Pinkie, still sleeping, holding me. I don't move, I don't want to wake her, after a while she stirs a bit, and her eyes open, she smiles when she sees me. I smile back and say "Morning Pinkie." she smiles, and next thing I know she is kissing me, It catches me off guard and I almost pull away, but I don't, I kiss her back. She pulls away and hugs me, “Good morning.” she says with a cute smile. I forgot how great it was to kiss Pinkie, she still has that taste of sugar cookies.
I throw the covers off of us and get up, Pinkie hops off the bed and we walk into the living room, I see the others still asleep, I should make them breakfast, I wonder what I have, I walk into the kitchen and open the fridge, I notice I have a large amount of eggs, I pull out both packs and get started on cooking.
After a lot of work, I managed to make twenty-one eggs, and fourteen pieces of toast. I set the plates down with the eggs and toast on them, I pour everybody some apple juice, thank goodness I had some. I put the cups on the table and walk into the living room and look at the clock, ten o'clock. I walk over to each of them and wake them up.
Rainbow sniffs the air, "Wow it smells great in here!" she says as we all walk into the dining room. We all take a seat and begin to eat, they seem to like my cooking, even though I'm not great. We all finish about the same time and I clean up.
Just then I hear the TV turn on, I quickly bolt out of the kitchen and turn off the TV, I haven't changed the channel and the show is just coming on, I don't want them to see it, it would freak them out. "What was that all about?" Twilight asks. I look around nervously, "Uh, this thing, um, you don't want to see what's on there." I pick up the remote off the floor and put it on top of the TV.
“Why not?” Twilight asks. I shake my head, “It shows mostly all the crap that happens in our world.” I say, “Not something you want to see.” Just then the doorbell rings, I run over to it and open it, Alex stands there, he actually came back. “Hey dude! Want to go hang with those girls from the mall again?”
I stare at him, “Uh...dude do you remember anything from last night?” I ask him. He shakes his head, “Uh, not really, it's all fuzzy, why?” he says. I open the door more and step aside, he looks in and sees the six standing there, Rainbow immediately saddens when she sees him, she feels really bad that he doesn't remember.
“Oh... them... they are still here?” he asks. “I guess I will just go alone then...” he shrugs and starts to walk away, just then we hear “WAIT!” I then feel a whoosh go by me, I cling to the door as Rainbow shoots by, she knocks Alex over and says “Maybe this will help you remember.” She then plants a kiss on his lips.
She holds the kiss for a few seconds and she finally gets off of him and flies back in, almost knocking me over. I look over at him and he is just laying there, face blank, I walk over to him, look down and say “You alright?”
“Rainbow... I remember now...” he whispers, he gets up slowly and walks past me, he walks inside, I follow him inside and watch him. Rainbow is laying on the couch, trying not to cry, Alex walks over to her, she looks up at him, half scared, he kneels down and hugs her. “I'm sorry Rainbow... for not remembering, how could I forget the best thing that ever happened to me in my life.” He says, tears slowly coming from his eyes.
Rainbow puts her hooves around him and hugs back. “I really am sorry Rainbow Dash...” he says. She lets go of him and says “Don't worry Alex, I still love you.” She smiles at him. Alex's face brightens up and he gets up and walks up to me. “Yo man, I'm sorry for being a total jerk to you this whole time about the 'dream', now we both know for sure it is real.” I nod and say “It's cool man, you just didn't remember, it happens.” I pat his shoulder, “Don't worry about it dude.” He smiles, I smile back.
“So what do we do now?” I ask looking at Twilight. “Well this world is, interesting, I would like to stay here a little longer and learn more about it, if that's okay with you Dean.” she says, the others agreeing. “I'm not sure if you want to know about our world...it's so corrupt.”
“It doesn't matter, it still would be nice to know about this world.” Twilight says. “Uh, I don't know if you should go out there like that, people will begin to really wonder why a group of candy colored ponies is walking around, conversing with two human.”
“Do you know anything that you can use as a cover?” I ask Twilight. “Well I can try a spell that can possibly change us into humans, temporarily. Is everypony okay if we do that?” she asks the others, they all nod, and her horn glows. Alex and I step back as we watch them morph.
The spell begins working and we watch them as they change in front of our eyes, the light becomes blindingly bright then it dims, and there lay the six as human, I notice that they still have the hair style and Cutie Marks.
They stand up hesitantly, trying to gain balance, and I say, “Whoa... forgot about that...” they look at me, Twilight says “What's wrong? Did it not work?” I shake my head, “No no, its not that, its just, well...your naked.” I say to them, they shrug, “So what, we normally don't wear clothes anyway.” Applejack says. “Well in our world we have to, people don't want to see other peoples business... hang on I might have some extra clothes, I don't know if they will fit you. But we can try.”
I run to my closet and grab random sweaters and pants, I quickly run back in there and give the clothes to them, before Alex has a nosebleed. They put on the clothes and look at each other, amazingly the clothes fit them pretty well.
“Hey, where did my wings go?” Rainbow asks looking behind her, “Darn it, now I can't fly anymore.” she crosses her arms. “M-Mine are gone too...” Fluttershy says shyly. “I guess when you're a human you don't get to have wings and horns. So that means you can't do magic or fly.” I say, stating the obvious.
I look at the clock, jeez, wow it's four o'clock already. Time sure does fly. “Do you want to see yourself?” I ask them, “Yeah!” they all say in unison, which makes them laugh. I wave for them to follow me down the hall and into the bathroom, they start to walk, but they almost fall, they aren't used to two legs, they gain their balance and finally they get good at it. We all walk in the bathroom and they look at themselves. “Wow, being a human sure is different!” Pinkie says smiling in the mirror.
I walk out and let them do their thing, grooming and such. I walk back in the living room and Alex is still standing there. “Nosebleed much did you?” I say with a goofy grin, he looks at me and says “Shut up. It was awesome.” “You're right it was pretty sweet...” I say and laugh.
The girls walk back in the room and Twilight says “So what do we need to learn about first?” I shrug, “Whatever you want I guess, just be careful, you might not like what you find. Like I have said... our world is corrupt.”
“Well where do humans mostly congregate?” Twilight asks. “The shopping mall I guess, at least that's where teenagers hang out mostly.” Alex says. I nod in agreement. “So let's go!” Pinkie says joyfully. I look over at Pinkie and smile, she raises her arms in the moment of joy, and I notice something, the wedding bracelet. I immediately look at my wrist, it's not there, I start to freak out a bit, I don't notice that everyone started looking at me.
Out of typical human nature, I reach in my pockets, empty... I look at my arm once more, like it would magically appear or something, still nothing. Just then I hear Pinkie giggle, I look up at her and she says “Looking for this? I meant to give it to you earlier but I didn't get the chance.” She leans down and pulls up her pants leg and I see the bracelet on her ankle, I don't know how I didn't notice it earlier, or at all for that matter. She takes it off and hands it to me.
I put it on my arm, it's a little big, but I don't care, I walk up closer to her and hug her, “Thank you so much Pinkie.” I say. She hugs me back, I can smell her hair, which is still poofy, it smells the same, cotton candy. We pull apart and she smiles, “So shall we go?” I ask everyone.
Everybody nods and we walk outside, I think we will buy them better clothes, so they don't have to wear my stupid clothes. I lock the door behind us. It's still a bit cold out here, they don't seem bothered by it though, I guess the sweaters are thick enough, that's good.
I look at Alex's small car, “There is no way we are fitting in that thing, we got lucky when they were ponies, but they are bigger now, we have to take two vehicles.” I say, I look at my small simple car, it's not really a pretty sight, but it gets me from Point A to Point B if need be. “We can half it up, 4 people per car.” Alex suggests. I nod.
We split the six up, Rainbow, Rarity, and Applejack, go with Alex. Pinkie, Twilight, and Fluttershy go with me. I roll down my window, and yell out “See you at the mall!” Alex nods and we head out to the mall. Hopefully all goes well...
As we head down the road to the mall, Pinkie, Twilight, and Fluttershy are looking out their window in awe of all the random buildings in downtown Poplar, “These buildings are really...tall...” Fluttershy says timidly. I shrug, “They are just office buildings, nothing big, just banks and stuff.” I say.
We pull into the parking lot of the mall, following Alex. We park close to the front, cause we are lazy like that, and we all hop out. The girls seem really amazed at the size of the mall. “Wow, how big is this place?” Rainbow asks. “Not very, there are bigger ones in other cities.” I tell her.
We walk into the front doors, and into the mall, I notice as they sniff the air, “Yeah mall's have their own smell, you really can't really explain the smell.” I say and laugh. “We need to get you girls some better clothes than the ones you're wearing.” I say as we walk up to the map of the mall.
I point to the list of clothing shops “Where would you like to go?” I ask the girls. They all look at the list and each say something different, “Abercrombie and Fitch! That sounds like a cool place” Rainbow says. “How about Hollister?” Rarity says, I can feel the money flying from my wallet as they keep mentioning the top clothing stores in the mall. Alex looks over at me and shakes his head as if to say 'This is going to be fun...'
First place we go in is Hollister Co., we all walk inside the darkened shop, I take a smell of the air, good lord...freaking cologne is potent here... and I left my gas mask at home... “What's that smell?” Rarity asks when we walk in, she holds her nose. “Cologne, and perfume... stinks doesn't it...” I say. We walk around the shop for a while, trying not to gag on the smell.
We all stick together, in fear of getting lost in the darkness of the shop, “Gosh, why is it so dark in here?” Fluttershy asks. “It's so they get more money, people look better in the dark, the clothes do.” I say and shrug. I see Rarity looking at the clothes and shaking her head, “These clothes are just dumb, all they have on them is the store name, they don't look good at all. Let's get out of here.”
We walk out of the darkened clothes shop and breathe heavily once we get away from the store. “Wow that was horrible.” Twilight says.
“That is the first and last time I have gone into that store...” I say, Alex nods. “Sadly, Abercrombie and Fitch and Aeropostale are almost the same way...” Alex says. I then hear Pinkie say “Hey! What about that store?” I look where she points and I immediately shake my head quickly...Not Hot Topic...They would find out about the Bronies... they don't need to know about that. “Not Hot Topic... Please...” I say.
Rainbow turns around to me and asks “Why not? It looks cool!” the others nod their head. “Come on Dean!” Pinkie says and grabs my hand. Rainbow grabs Alex's hand and we both get dragged to the store, we both know what is going to happen.
We are standing at the doorway, out of nowhere this random dude comes up, “Oh my god, how did you girls get your hairs that way! You look just like the ponies from My Little Pony!” he says, he wears a shirt that has a gray pony on it with blonde hair, that says “Derpy is Best Pony” on it. He then says “That is awesome! See ya later!” He walks off.
The girls say nothing, we all walk into the store slowly, Pinkie is still holding my hand, though I can tell she is confused. We all walk up to the shirts and I hear Fluttershy whimper a bit, I look at her and she's looking up at the wall that shows what type of shirts there is, I see what she sees, a shirt that has her on it, as a pony, with the word “yay” under it.
“We need to get out of here, now.” I say, turning around, to see a store worker standing in front of me. “Hello! Can I help you find something?” she says. “Um, no we are okay, we were just going, weren't we? We need to hit the food court.” I say, the girls continue to stare at the wall, it has different pictures of different ponies.
“Come on aren't you girls hungry?” I say. I look to Alex and mouth the words “Help me get them out of here...” he nods. “Okay girls come on, I am starving, we will come back some other time.” Alex says to the girls, he gently nudges them to the door, they eventually move.
“Oh okay then, Come back soon. By the way Love your hair girls!” The store clerk says. We finally get them out of the store, they just stand there, face blank. I let go of Pinkie's hand and stand in front of them. Alex lets go of Rainbow and stands next to me.
After a while of silence Twilight says “What...did...we just see...?” they all look at Alex, then to me. They keep their gaze on me awaiting for me to answer. I take a deep breath and sigh, “Well, I haven't heard much about them, cause I don't go on the internet much, but they are called...Bronies...” They just stare at me and say “What's a...Brony?”
I shake my head and explain what I know, which isn't much but I know what they are, and what they do. “Bronies are... well, Guys, and girls, which are called 'Pegasisters', that watch a show on the TV, the big black box in my living room, called...” I pause. “My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic...The show is, your world... and humans watch it.” I stop talking, watching their faces change from worry to terror. “So... you humans... spy on us?” Rainbow asks.
“No no, we actually didn't know Equestria existed, we always saw it as... a fake cartoon show... made by a company called Hasbro... Alex and I never watched it, we thought it was too girly and for little kids... but, you know, the show is different then what really happens in the world, the show is all cutesy and barely any violence. The real thing is different, more stuff happened in that world when I was in there that wasn't particularly for young audience members.” I say to them. “I hope that makes sense.”
“But how did you know that's what we looked like?” Twilight asks. “I don't know, coincidence maybe? I really don't know... This is the reason why I said you shouldn't go exploring our world, you might find something that you don't want to know, this is the main thing I didn't want you to know, cause I knew it would freak you all out. I'm sorry...”
“So we are supposedly not real according to humans?” Twilight asks. I nod. “That is actually good, think about it, remember that guy that came up and freaked out about your hair, and how it resembles your manes? Think if him and all the other found Equestria, like a way in, like Alex and I did. They would go insane and become chaotic, and they would try to take over. So think of it as a good thing that they think you're not real...” I lean in closer. “Even though you are.” I smile.
“You're right, we don't need to worry so much, even though it is a bit creepy that humans go a bit nuts about us, but it's good they don't know that Equestria really exists.” Twilight says and smiles, the others smile too. Then we hear a grumbling noise, we all look at Alex, “Hey, I wasn't kidding when I said I was starving earlier!” We all laugh and start walking toward the food court.
Pinkie walks up beside me and grabs my hand again and holds it, I feel relief, I am so glad they didn't go super mad or upset about the brony thing. I squeeze her hand and smile at her, I then see Alex stop and then Rainbow pounces on his back, I look at him confused, he just laughs and shrugs. I laugh and shake my head.
We make it to the food court and the girls look around at the different restaurants, “What are hamburgers?” Twilight asks. I then remember, they are practically vegetarians, they are going to flip when they find out humans eat meat, even though Fluttershy and Rainbow already know, cause I told them when I had my Slim Jims.
“Uh, well... they are......meat...” I say. “Humans are not herbivores like ponies. We eat meat and vegetables.” I hope she doesn't freak out or anything, though to my surprise she says, “Interesting...” I look at them all, they don't seem to be bugged by it all. I shrug and we walk up to the counter, I hesitate on what I want to order, I decide to eat a salad, even though they taste horrible to me, but I don't want to sit there and eat a whole burger in front of them, I would feel so awkward.
We all order a salad, I pay, it's actually rather cheap. We find a table and we begin to eat, I force myself to eat my salad and try not to barf at the taste. Pinkie looks up from her salad and says “Something is missing. I don't know what but the salad tastes a bit...bland...” The other girls nod and agree. Alex then perks up and says “I know what you need!” he gets up and goes to the counter and then comes back with a bunch of packets.
He sits down and says, “You need this.” holding up a packet, on it says “Ranch dressing”, he opens the pack and pours it out on his salad. “What in the hay is that stuff?” Applejack asks. “Dressing.” Alex says.
“Oh I remember you talking about that stuff! You said it goes on salads to make them taste better!” Pinkie exclaims. Alex nods and hands each of them a pack, they just stare at it, Rainbow fiddles with hers, trying to open it. “How did you open this stupid thing?!” Rainbow asks, getting frustrated, she then throws it on the table and slams it with her fist, the dressing explodes out of one side and splatters all over the table. “Oops...” Rainbow says and laughs.
We all start to laugh, I grab a napkin and clean up the mess, I pick up the packet and rip the corner easily off. Rainbow squints her eyes at me, “You make it look sooo easy...” she giggles a bit, Alex reaches over and grabs another packet and opens it and pours it on her salad, she smiles and leans over and pecks his cheek, his face reddens and she giggles at him.
We help them open their dressing packets and we pour it on their for them, they all smile and they take another taste. “Mmm...” they all say, “It's good!” Pinkie smiles. I still don't like it, I even put dressing on mine, It's still gross...
We finish eating, well they do, I eat only a little bit of mine. “You gonna eat that?” Pinkie asks me with a smile. I shake my head and give her my bowl, she finishes off whats left. We clean up our area and I ask “So where would you girls like to go to get your clothes?”
“Ooh ooh! What about that shop!” Pinkie exclaims, she points to JCPenney, I shrug, seems like a normal place to get clothes, besides I don't think the spell lasts that long anyway. We all agree and we walk to the clothing shop.
“Hey, you can actually see in here, and it doesn't stink of horrible cologne.” Rainbow says. We all laugh. We walk over to the woman’s section of the shop.
I follow Pinkie to an area that has tank tops on display, “Ooh ooh! Look at that pink one!” she says. “Pinkie don't you think it's a bit cold for tank tops?” I say. She shrugs, “I don't care, they look so cute!” she says. I smile and say “Whatever you want Pinkie.” she jumps for joy and says “Thank you Dean!” she gives me a little peck on the cheek, which immediately turns red after she does so.
I look over at the jeans. “Don't you want a pair of jeans?” I ask. “Oh, it's okay, I like the ones I have on, I just wanted a new shirt.” Pinkie says and smiles. She holds my hand, while carrying the tank top in the other.
Rarity gasps, Pinkie and I look over at her and she is staring at a white dress with little bedazzled gems, “Oh my, it is simply beautiful!” she says, her eyes all starry. I disregard prices, because this is for them. “If you want it you can get it, I will buy.” I say, it's a good thing my parents left me a good amount of money when they left.
Rarity looks at me and smiles big, “Oh thank you Dean!” she picks up one of the boxes that contains the dress in it, folded up. She follows me when I walk over to Twilight to see what she is looking at. Twilight is looking at sweaters, “Ooh, I like this sweater.” she says, the sweater is a turtleneck, with two different shades of purple on it. She looks at me and I nod, a smile appears on her face.
Twilight grabs a sweater that is laying on the table, and then looks at the skirts next to them, for some reason purple is in this year, she smiles at a skirt that has the same coloration like the sweater does on it, which reminds me of her hair. I nod again, and she smiles and grabs one of the skirts laying on the table under the display.
I then look over at Alex and Rainbow, Rainbow is looking at tank tops, she grabs a tank top that is a cyan color, just like her coat was, and Alex nods, she then sees some, what they call, Daisy Dukes, which are really short shorts, Alex nods once more, Rainbow picks them up and smiles and kisses Alex on the cheek.
Fluttershy walks up to me shyly and holds up a yellow dress, “Is it...okay if I get this?” She asks quietly, “Of course, anything you want.” I say with a smile. “Oh...thank you Dean.” she smiles a little. “No problem at all.”
I feel a tap on my shoulder, which makes me jump, I turn around and see Applejack standing there, “How do y'all think this would look on me?” she says, holding up a orange plaid shirt. I nod and say, “Very nice.” she smiles, “I'm not gonna get a pair of jeans, these I have on look great on me.” she says.
I look down at their feet, I just realized they don't have shoes. Oh boy, hopefully the clerks don't mind since I am paying, maybe I should get them some shoes, just to be safe, I wonder if they all have the same shoe size...
“Hey do you want to get shoes? I'm not sure if we should get you some, I mean the spell doesn't last long does it?” I ask. Twilight says, “It only lasts a couple of days, then we will change back. So no... I don't think shoes will be necessary.” she smiles. “I guess we are done then.” I say.
We take our stuff to the check-out counter and I pay for the stuff. The cashier thanks us, and we walk out. I look at my watch, Whoa, good lord, its almost ten o'clock. A voice on the loudspeaker sounds loudly, causing us all to jump. “The mall will be closing in ten minutes. Please make your last purchases, Have a good night everyone!” The voice says.
“Well looks like we need to go, come on.” I say, Pinkie walks up next to me and holds my hand and smiles. We walk out of the front doors and back to the cars. “See you back at the house.” Alex says as he gets in his car, followed by Rainbow, Applejack, and Rarity.
The rest of us hop in my car, I start it up and we head back through town. “Wow, it looks amazing at night.” Twilight says. “Yeah, it sure does, but I have to say Ponyville looks way better at night.” I say. We continue on through town and we finally reach my house, Alex already there waiting for us.
We get out and I go up to the door and unlock it and let everyone in. “You girls can go change if you want. You can change in my bedroom.” I say. They nod and go into my room and change. “Why didn't you let them change in here?” Alex asks. “You are such a perv Alex.” I say, chuckling. “I am not.” he says. I shake my head and laugh.
After a while we hear my door open, they walk into the living room. They all look nice, the clothes match their colors they were as a pony, I just now noticed that, man I am slow. I look at my watch, its almost eleven. I stretch and yawn.
“It's late...maybe we should head to bed...” Twilight says. I nod sleepily. “I can take some of you to my house, so there will be more space here.” Alex says. “I'll go with Alex!” Rainbow says, giving him a hug. “I'll go too.” Rarity and Applejack say at the same time.
“Alright then. See you in the morning. G'night.” I say as they walk out. I see Rainbow give Alex what they call, The Look, his face turns red, she giggles, it seems that they will be having fun tonight. He looks back at me and I give him the thumbs up and laugh. I close the door behind them.
“You can take the couch Fluttershy, I can sleep in the chair.” Twilight says. “I want to sleep with Dean!” Pinkie says. Both of them look at her. Pinkie shakes her head, “Not in that way... sillies”. Darn I was hoping...
“Good night girls.” I say to them as Pinkie and I head to my bed, hopefully it can hold us both. I let her sleep next to the wall, so she doesn't roll off, I don't mind if I do. We lay down and cover up. She snuggles up against me. Even though she is a human it's still pretty awesome to cuddle with her.
I look at Pinkie, whom is asleep already, its been a long day. I look at her and wonder, when are they going back to Equestria... and if so... will they take Alex and I back? I let that question float in my mind for a while and fall asleep.
Chapter 6 Last Day ________________________________________________________________________________
Last night I felt like a bear in hibernation, having slept well. I get up and stretch and look back down at the bed. Pinkie Pie is lying there, asleep, and still human, meaning the spell hasn't worn off yet. I smile at her and look at my alarm clock, it reads nine o'clock.
I pick up my shirt from yesterday and smell it, then immediately throw it out of my face. “Whoa.” I say quietly. I sniff the air a bit. It has a bad odor. I start sniffing around more, then I lift my arm up and smell. I gag from the stench that permeates from my armpit. Good lord when was the last time I took a shower.
I grab some clothes out of the drawer and head to the bathroom. After I shower, I put on some new clothes, much better. I look in the mirror as I am drying my hair, and smile at the human me standing there. Hanging the towel up, I walk out to the living room.
I walk around the corner and see that Twilight and Fluttershy are awake, “Good morning.” I say to them.
“Good Morning Dean.” they reply continuing their discussion.
I hear a knock on the door. I run up to it and open it to see Alex, Rainbow, Applejack, and Rarity stand there. I smile and let them in.
“Where's Pinkie Pie?” Rainbow asks walking in first.
I laugh “She's still asleep, hold on I'll go get her.”
I walk down the hall to my room and see her curled up in my blanket, snoozing away, I walk over to the bed, and lean down to kiss her lips. She slowly opens her eyes. “Morning Sleepyhead.” I say softly and smile. She giggles and says “Good Morning.” She leans up in the bed and kisses my lips. I am still trying to figure out how she can keep up that taste of sugar cookies. Even in human form, she still tastes like sugar cookies.
She throws the covers off of her and gets up. She grabs my hand as we walk into the living room. Everyone smiles when we walk in. We then hear a low rumbling noise. I look over to Alex and he shrugs, “Sorry man, I'm hungry...” he laughs.
An idea pops into my head. “Why not go somewhere to eat? It would show the girls more about what humans eat, as well as what they like.” I offer. Frankly I don't think I could cook that many eggs again anyway.
“Where would be a good place?” Alex asks.
I think for a moment, “Let's try IHOP, they always have good stuff to eat for breakfast.” I say.
“Great Idea! That place is awesome!” Alex says excitedly.
“Well what are we waiting for? Let's go!” Rainbow Dash says, I guess she is hungry also.
We carpool in the same cars just like we normally do now. We drive up the road and I remember the question that was in my head last night. I hesitate a second before asking, “Uh...question. When you girls decide to go back, are Alex and I going back with you?” I immediately feel that I asked a stupid question.
“Only if you want to. I mean, That is why we came here, to bring you back. But it seems we've been a bit side tracked. Your world is so intriguing. But we do plan to go back soon, and we'd like you to come with since you two are our friends.” Twilight says.
Putting a hand on my leg and smiling, Pinkie adds, “Besides, you have to come back. We are married you know”
She then says something that for some reason I had totally forgotten about, “Another reason you have to come back is you will be a father.” I look at her, crap, how could I have forgotten about that? I am such an idiot. I look down at her belly, even in human form, the pregnancy signs are there, how did I not notice them?
“I definitely want to go back. I have a way better life there, my life here sucks... I even have a job in Equestria. I have a wife and soon to have a child.” I smile at Pinkie when I say that. I look up in the rear view mirror and smile at Twilight, who smiles back.
We finally pull into IHOP. Turning off the car, we hop out. Alex and the others are already standing there, Alex must know a shortcut or something. I smell the food inside just as we open the door, my stomach is immediately growling.
The waitress standing at the counter smiles at us when we walk in, “How many?” she asks.
“Eight.” I answer. She nods and we follow her to our table, the waitress pulls two tables together so we have enough room for all of us, she chuckles.
“We don't normally have eight people coming in as one party.” she says.
“No worries.” I say.
We take our seat and she gives us our menu's, “What would you like to drink?” the waitress asks. We all order water, because it has infinite refills. Not to mention I don't really want soda with breakfast. The waitress nods and heads to the kitchen.
“This is a very nice little restaurant.” Rarity says and smiles.
I then hear a voice behind me, “Hey Guys! Who are your friends?”
I whip around, and see Max standing there. “Max, you scared the crap out of me.”
I say, Max laughs at me. “So who are you girls? You look familiar but I can't seem to figure it out.” He scratches his nonexistent beard.
“Max, you don't remember us? Oh that's right you weren't there when we changed into humans.” Twilight says.
Max looks puzzled, then his eyes widen, “Wait, weren't you po-” he starts to say, but is cut off by Alex. “Shh, don't say it too loud, we don't want people to know.” Alex says.
Max nods his head, “That's awesome!” he smiles.
Are you here alone?” I ask “Why don't you join us?”
“I ate before you came in, but I guess I can hang for a bit.” he says, grabbing a chair to sit at the table.
We open our menu's, after a while of looking we all make our choice, the waitress returns and gives us our water, then takes our orders, we tell her what we want and she smiles and goes off to the kitchen again.
"Mmmm, it smells great in here!" Pinkie says excitedly, her pink hair bouncing around.
"Yes, it does smell quite divine" Rarity says as she sniffs the air, then smiles.
Just then the waitress returns with a cart, with our plates on top. We all ordered practically the same thing. It comes with Eggs, Waffles, Hash Browns, and Sausage, but the girls said no to the sausage.
The waitress sets down our plates and refills our water cups, “If you need anything else, please ask.” She says with a smile, I nod and say, “Thank you.”
She walks off to help another customer that walked in. Everyone else has begun eating; the girls seem to like it. We eat in silence, mainly because we are super hungry. I hesitantly eat my sausage, better enjoy this while I can, because once we go back I won’t be eating this anymore.
After a while we finish our plates, it was a lot of food. “So what do you want to do today?” I ask the girls.
“I wish to learn more about the human’s history. Do you have a library?” Twilight asks. I nod and she smiles.
“Um… Dean?” I hear Fluttershy timidly say.
“Yes Fluttershy?” I ask.
“I… was wondering… if... we could go to the park and see the animals? I wanted to see if I can get along with them…” She suggests.
I smile and say, “Of course. I'm sure you could get along with them no problem.” She blushes a bit and smiles.
“Do humans make sweets?” Pinkie asks me.
“Of course we do, it would be weird to not have sweets.” I reply smiling.
Pinkie giggles, “Can we try some? I think everyone would like that. Everything else we have tried here is great. So the sweets must be good too!” She says. The others laugh.
“That would be a great thing to try out while we are here.” Rainbow says.
“Sure thing we have a store in town.” I say.
“Speaking of trying out…” Twilight says, looking at my plate, which still has a whole sausage left on it. “I have been curious this whole time we have been eating, I want to try meat, just this one time. I mean we are humans, so it isn’t bad for us.”
I break a piece of the sausage off, “You sure you want to try it?” I ask and she nods. I put the piece on her plate.
She looks down at it. She stabs her fork into it, and holds it up to her face to examine it. “Here we go…” she says a little nervously and takes a bite.
She chews on it and slowly her face changes to one of disgust. She quickly grabs the napkin and spits it into it.
“Oh come on Twilight it can’t be that gross.” Rainbow Dash says laughing as she grabs the other piece off my plate and takes a bite.
She chews on it a bit and her face does the same thing, she grabs her napkin and spits it out as well. “Ugh, that is the most disgusting thing I have ever tasted in my entire life…” Rainbow says quietly trying to not cause trouble, and then takes a long drink of her water to wash away the taste.
“I guess we are ready to go then?” I ask. Everyone nods and we stand up, “I’ll pay for this you go on ahead.” I say to them and walk up to the counter and pay.
I see Max getting into his car as I walk out, “Hey, Max! You can hang with us if you want!” I call out.
“Cool!” He says, getting back out of his car, then walks over to us.
“So what do you girls want to do first on your last day of being human?” I ask them.
Pinkie starts bouncing up and down, “Sweets! We should try the sweets!” she says excitedly, and starts giggling.
“Well what are we waiting for let’s go!” Alex says.
We all hop in our cars, “Just follow us Max.” I tell him, he nods. We turn on the cars and head to Downtown, I look over at Pinkie Pie, she looks super excited to try out our candy.
“Oh I cannot wait! I bet its super-duperlicious!” She says. This is why I love Pinkie so much; she is so random and so cute I love her personality. Every time I am around her I am happy.
We arrive at the candy store named “Kerry’s Sweets” and walked inside; the smell of candy hits all of our noses. Even though we just ate, my stomach seemed to make room for some candy. Pinkie has that look of that she is in heaven or something. “So Pinkie what do you want to try first?” I ask her.
She looks around and sees a stand that is next to the cash register, which has assorted sweets on it, she grabs my hand and pulls me with her. I look behind me at the others and shrug. They laugh a bit and separate from each other to look at the sweets in the shop.
“Ooh! This looks delicious!” Pinkie exclaims loudly, surprising me a bit. She points to a pink, for some reason, rather large cupcake. It’s bigger than any normal one, almost like an actual cake but its cupcake shaped. It has pink frosting and sprinkles in the shape of little stars.
“Is that what you want Pinkie?” I ask, squeezing her hand a bit, she smiled a cute smile and nodded a little.
I look to the store clerk; she looks at me and says “Yes? May I help you?” “Yes, I would like to get that pink cupcake, the larger one.” I say.
The clerk then smiles and she opens the stand from the back and pulls out one of the cupcakes with both hands. “One Gratifying Galaxy Cupcake coming up!” She puts it on the counter.
“That is a big cupcake…” I say wide eyed. No wonder it has the word Galaxy in the name. I look to Pinkie; she looks as if she wants to eat the cupcake right there.
I feel a tap on my shoulder, I turn my head and see the others standing there, empty handed. “We couldn’t find what we wante-…” Alex begins to say but then looks at the monstrosity on the counter. “That, is the biggest cupcake, I have ever seen…” He says mouth agape. Max and the girls then look at what he is looking at and their eyes widen.
The clerk begins to giggle a bit, “It sure is a big cupcake huh? It’s our most popular sweet!” she says. I nod and pay her, I didn’t expect to be cheap but that’s okay, this is their day. We take the GGC outside,
“You guys can have some too!” Pinkie says happily. We all smile as we take pieces of it. Pinkie takes the first taste, her eyes widen and she smiles as she takes another bite. “It’s Delicious!” she says mouth full of cupcake.
We eat the large cupcake and toss away the trash. “That was the most scrumptious cupcake ever! Thanks so much Dean!” Pinkie Pie says, she then pulls me into a big hug and gives me a kiss.
I smile as I hug her, “You’re welcome Pinkie.” I say.
“Well where to next?” I ask everyone, Pinkie still embracing me in a hug. “Can... we go to the park?” Fluttershy asks quietly. I look to everyone else for their approval, they nod.
We hop in the cars once more and head off to the park. As we are going, Pinkie thanks me again for the cupcake. I smile, “It’s no problem. It was worth it.” I say, thinking about the hug and kiss.
We arrive at the park, the only park in Poplar. We get out of our vehicles and Fluttershy sees the squirrels running up the trees, she smiles a little bit. We walk onto the path and follow it around the park. It is a rather nice park.
We see a squirrel next to a tree eating an acorn. Fluttershy stops and says “I- I’m going to see if I can talk to them.” We smile as we watch her walk slowly up to the furry little creature. “Hey there, my name is Fluttershy, what is yours?”
The squirrel stopped chewing on his acorn and looked up at Fluttershy. Fluttershy moves a little closer, the squirrel ran toward a tree, “Wait, I won’t hurt…you…” she says and sighs. She gets up and looks down at the ground.
Rarity walks up to her and says “Oh don’t worry darling, this is a totally different world compared to ours, and these creatures are not enchanted like the ones back home.”
Fluttershy lets out a smile, “You’re right… Different worlds…” she says. We walk the whole path around once; the girls seem to admire the nature in our world. We reach the parking lot and I look at my watch. Four o’ clock, wow, time sure does fly.
“Where do you want to go to now girls?” I ask them.
“Well, um, do you have a library?” Twilight asks.
“I think we do.” I say and look at Alex and Max.
“Yeah we do, remember Dean?” Alex says.
“Oh yeah, duh, I know where it is.” I say. We hop back in the cars and head toward the library, Twilight seems very excited to go.
We arrive at the parking lot of the library, the building is not really big, but not really small either, it is pretty much your normal sized building. As we open the front doors, the smell of old books enter our noses. I’ve haven’t really gone inside the library before, so I don’t know what to expect.
The main lobby has two entrances to the left and right, they both lead to the main library. The lobby also has a long desk against the wall, behind which has librarians ready to check out anybody that brings books they want to rent. We split up into three groups, I go with Twilight and Pinkie, Max goes with Fluttershy and Rarity, and Alex goes with Rainbow and Applejack.
Pinkie and I follow Twilight into the main room. She walks in and sees all of the bookshelves lining the walls and some in aisle formation. Her eyes widen at the amount of books, she tries to speak but can’t, she is too awestruck to speak.
Finally she says, “How are there so many… I didn’t know humans wrote so much…” She continues to look around, “This is more than double than what I have in my library…” she says. She turns to me, “How are humans able to write so much?”
“Well, back then we didn’t have as much, until the invention of computers. They tend to make writing a little quicker.” I explain.
She looks at me, confused, “What’s a computer?” she asks.
I then remember, they don’t have technology in Equestria. “Hold on, let me get something.”
I run to the front desk and ask the clerk for a computer pass, “Do you have a library card?” he asks.
“No, I haven’t gotten the chance to get one yet.” I say.
“Don’t worry it doesn’t take much time to get one, here.” He says and hands me a paper and a pen. “Sign those places marked with the X and you will be good to go.”
I sign the paper and hand it to him. He types on the computer and gives me a card and the computer pass. “There you go sir, enjoy.” He says. I nod and walk back to Pinkie and Twilight.
I hold up the two cards and Twilight asks, “What are those?” I explain the use of the library card and how it keeps track of peoples check out history and stuff. “Ah, that’s very useful.” She says.
“And the other card is used so we can have access on the computer.” I say.
“Follow me, I’ll show you where the computers are; I think I know where they are.” I say. We walk to the back of the library, spotting a row of computers against the wall. We go to one of the open computers on the end.
Twilight examines the machine, “So, how does it work?” she asks. I answer her question by pressing a button on the metal box and the screen flickers on.
“Whoa.” She says, startled by the sudden flash.
“So what can you do on this?” she asks. I explain the function of the mouse and the keyboard to her. “Interesting…” She says. Feeling a tap on my shoulder, I whip around to see everybody else in our group standing behind us.
“Can I try it Dean?” Twilight asks. I happily stand up and let her sit, she tries to copy my movements with the mouse and keyboard. I step back and let the other girls watch her as she tries to figure out the contraption.
Alex is trying hard not to laugh, I nudge him with my elbow and whisper, “Hey, they are new to this…”
“I know it’s funny though…” he says. I shake my head and chuckle a bit.
I look at the screen and see that they are still on the desktop screen. “Ugh, how do you use this thing?” Twilight says in frustration.
I chuckle as I walk up next to them, “Need some help?” I ask.
“Yes, I have no idea what I am doing.” She says, frustrated as ever.
I see the internet and I decide not to show them that, what is on the internet they do not need to know… I see that the computer has Microsoft Word on it. I click the icon and the document opens. “What’s this?” Twilight asks.
“It’s one of the main reasons why there are so many books in this library.” I say with a laugh.
“So what does it do?” she asks me.
I show her by typing on the keyboard, which makes the words appear on the screen. “Whoa so when you press the buttons, letters appear? That’s amazing. Humans have the easy life with these around.” She says, really excited.
“Heh, easy life…” I say to myself. Easy my ass…
Twilight starts to type on the keyboard, trying to write a sentence, and it is not working in her favor, she is starting to get more frustrated. “I will succeed in writing a complete sentence before we leave here.” She says as she starts to hit the buttons hard.
I look at the screen and see a bunch of random letters up there, no spaces. I reach over and tap the space bar. “What did that do?” she asks.
“It puts spaces between your words, like when you are writing.” I explain. Twilight looks down at the keyboard and pecks at the letters, “I think I am able to do this now.” She says, sounding happier and less frustrated. We stand there for a little while as she is typing, she is starting to get better.
As we stand there I notice something about Twilight, about all of them to be exact. I look at Pinkie, who smiles at me when I look at her, her skin, is starting to grow pink hairs on her arm. Oh no… The spell… it’s wearing off.
I look at the others and their coat is coming back too, including Twilight’s, for some reason they haven’t noticed yet. Pinkie notices that I am a bit worried, “What’s wrong Dean?” she asks, her head to the side. I point to her arm, she looks down at it and her eyes grow wide.
The others look over and see Pinkie looking at her arm and they see her coat is growing back, looking at their own arms they see their coats are growing back also.
“Uh Twi, we got a problem.” Applejack says.
“What?” Twilight asks, not taking her eyes off the screen.
“Well, remember a couple of days ago, you cast a spell that turned us into humans for a couple of days?” Applejack says.
“Yeah, what about it?” Twilight asks.
Applejack leans closer, “I think it’s wearing off…” she whispers in a worried voice. Twilight looks at Applejack and notices the coat growing back, her eye twitches and she gets up real fast, making quite a bit of noise. People begin to look at us, with puzzled looks.
“We need to go… Now.” Twilight says. People are starting to notice that their coat is growing back. “Let’s run.” I suggest. Everybody agrees by taking off towards the doors. People stare at us, wondering what the matter is. I toss the guy the computer card back and we run through the doors and take off to the cars.
We stop at the cars for a breather, “That, was a close one…” I say out of breath. Everyone else is out of breath also, the cold isn't helping matters any either.
Just then a flash of light comes from each of them, consuming them as it slowly morphs them back into ponies. “Well thank goodness that didn’t happen in there; that could have been a bad thing.” I see people starting to come out of the library and they point to us. “Oh crap we need to go; they just saw you as ponies.” I say. We hop in the same cars we came in as fast as we can and we tear out of the parking lot and onto the road.
Chapter 7 Pizza and Plans __________________________________________________________________________
We tear out of the parking lot, “Are they following us?” I ask.
“No it’s just Alex and Max following us.” Twilight says, looking out the rear window. I sigh in relief and stop at a red light, I lay my head on the steering wheel for a second to let my mind settle.
“Guess we should head home then.” I say as the light changes. “It’s a good thing that those people didn’t get a chance to really see you in your normal form.”
“What would they have done?” Twilight asks.
“Not sure, but, more than likely, it would not have been good.” I say looking in the rear-view mirror to see Alex and Max still following.
We finally reach the house and all is quiet. Everyone, and pony, hops out of their cars, and as we head into the house, we hear a low grumbling sound. I immediately look to Alex and laugh. Alex immediately raises his hands in defense, “Wasn’t me!” he said.
“Sorry.” Rainbow says, “It’s been a while since we’ve eaten.” She smiles and laughs. I then get an idea, I wonder if they ever had pizza; it has no meat on it whatsoever.
I look to the mares and ask, “Have any of you had pizza before?”
They tilt there head to the side, “Pizza? What’s that?” Rainbow asks.
I smile a bit and look at Alex and Max, “Should we show them pizza? I think they would like it.” I say. They both nod their heads and chuckle a bit. I nod back and walk off toward the phone, I order the pizzas and walk back into the room. The mares continue to look confused. I can’t help but chuckle a bit.
After a little while we hear a knocking at the door, I tell Twilight and the others to get out of sight so the guy doesn’t freak out. I open it and see a guy holding a bag, which has the pizzas in it. I pay him the amount needed and he hands me the boxes. I thank him and he heads back to his car.
I walk in the kitchen and place the boxes down on the table. Each of the pizzas is just plain cheese, for obvious reasons.
“So what is this pizza you speak of?” Rarity asks.
Answering her question I open each of the boxes, revealing each of their circular doughy, saucy, cheesy goodness. The girls lean in closer to examine the pizzas, they sniff it and smile a bit.
“Smells good!” Rainbow Dash exclaims.
“Who wants to get first taste?” I ask the mares.
They look at each other and finally Rainbow says, “I'll take the first taste!”
She reaches into the box and tries to pick up the slice, failing as it slides right off her hoof, finally she uses both hooves and picks it up with one hoof on top one on bottom. We all watch her as she takes the bite, I really hope they like it, I mean why wouldn't they?
Rainbow chews the bite of pizza and smiles, “This...is...amazing!” Rainbow says excitedly as she takes another bite.
The rest of us grab a slice and begin to eat, everypony else seems to enjoy the pizza too.
We eat our fill, cleaning out the three boxes, I had only two pieces, wasn't really hungry to be honest. I throw the empty boxes in the trash and walk into the living room, I look at the clock, nine o'clock. Wow, time sure does fly. The others walk in, and I feel I have to ask Twilight if and when we are going back to Equestria.
“Uh, Twi? When are all of you going back to Equestria? And are we going with you?” I ask hesitantly, unsure of what the answer might be.
“Well we've learned a lot about humans, and the original plan was to come and get you to bring you back, we missed you a lot, especially Pinkie.” She says. Pinkie wraps her hooves around my waist in a hug.
“I say we leave tomorrow morning, you don't have anything you wish to bring, do you?” She asks.
I shake my head and look to Alex and Max, who are also shaking their heads. “No, we don't really have anything that we want to bring.” I say.
Twilight nods and says, “Okay, so shall we head to bed? I mean so we can get up early to go.”
“I think I have enough room for everyone to sleep, though some of you might need to sleep on the floor.” I say.
“Well what about that room next to yours?” Max asks pointing to my parents' room, whom are on a long vacation, not sure when they are coming back, but it doesn't matter they want me out of the house anyway.
“That's my parents' room, I don't think they would like it if people, or ponies, slept on their bed without their knowing.” I say.
“Ah, that's cool, I don't mind the floor, it's kinda like another camping trip, except we aren't outside and in tents.” he says with a chuckle.
I look at the couch which still has the three blankets that Twilight, Pinkie, and Fluttershy used. Well Pinkie didn't use hers much cause she was, well, with me. I walk back over to the closet and look around to see if there are other blankets they could use, I only have three left. I really don't know why we have so many blankets, that's a total of about six or so, excluding mine.
I bring the two and place them on the couch, “That's all that's left.” I say and yawn. Today has been a long day, but a good one also, except the fact that the girls almost got spotted as ponies.
“I think we should all go to bed and get some sleep, if we wish to get up early to leave.” Twilight suggests.
Everyone nods and grabs their blanket, Alex lays down on the floor and Rainbow cuddles up next to him. Alex throws the blanket over them both and holds her close.
I feel a nudge against my side, “Um, Dean, Can I sleep with you in your bed?” Pinkie asks me with a cute smile.
“Of course you can Pinkie.” I say. She nuzzles my side with a sigh.
I look around at everyone as they settle in, I look down at Rainbow and Alex, whom are already asleep, Rainbow has her hoof on Alex’s chest and she is cuddled up against him.
“C’mon Dean, let’s get some sleep.” Pinkie whispers.
I nod and I follow her to my room. She climbs up on my bed and gets under the covers. I slip under the covers also, “I’m glad we are going home.” She says and puts her hooves around me.
“Me too Pinkie.” I say hugging her back.
You know I am really happy that I found Equestria in my dream, what I don't get is what happened before it when my parents threw me out, that must have been just a nightmare or something, but the part about going to Equestria, was real? My head hurts now just trying to figure it out, I'll just not think about it, since there is proof right next to me that I was there.
Another thought in my head that is troubling me is, those visions I had, what was that about, I haven't had one recently, so I guess there won't be anymore of them.
I roll over to face Pinkie, who is sound asleep, still holding me. I close my eyes to let the sleep take over, it has been a long day.
I am startled awake by a door closing, I look over to my side and see Pinkie still laying there, I sigh in relief to see her, I look through the darkness in my room at my alarm clock, three o'clock. I think back to the sound, it could have just been my imagination.
I then hear another door close, louder this time. I suspect it is coming from outside, I get up out of the bed slowly, so not to wake Pinkie Pie. I walk into the living room quietly, to see if anyone, or pony, is awake. The room is dark and everyone is asleep. I take a quick patrol around the house to see if anyone is here, I take a step into my parent's room to look, and then the it happens...
I hear the front door open, and I hear my dad's voice, oh no, no, no! I thought they wouldn't come back for a while... I was wrong.
I rush down the hall toward the living room as fast as I can, but it's too late, the living room light turns on and I hear my dad say “What the hell?!”
I run into the room, my parents stand there in the doorway, mouth agape. “Dean, what in the world is going on, why are there...ponies... in my living room?” my dad says in a shocked but irritated voice also.
Everyone, and pony, wakes up. Alex looks up at my mother and father and his eyes go wide. “Oh uh, hi Mr. and Mrs. Yarlo.” Alex says getting up.
“Uh, I can explain.” I say.
My father crosses his arms, “Well, explain then. Cause right now I don't even know what to think.”
Twilight gets up from the chair she was sleeping in and walks up to my parents, “Hi there, I'm-”
“Holy shit! They can talk?!” My dad yells.
“Of course we can talk.” Twilight says. “How else would we communicate with each other?”
Pinkie walks up behind me,“What's going on?” she asks groggily. I look down at her and back at my parents.
“Dean... explain...” my mom finally says.
“Okay, um, maybe you should sit down, this might take a while.” I say.
They take a seat on the couch and I take a deep breath and start explaining.
It takes a while, but I told them everything, from beginning to end. “I know you have a lot of questions...”
My parents just stare at me like I have lobsters crawling out of my ears. “You don't believe anything I just said... do you?” I say.
They continue to stare as everything tries to collect in their brains. After a few minutes of awkward silence my mom finally says, “S-So this means... you have to leave?”
I nod, “You wanted me out of the house anyway, didn't you?” I say.
“Well I didn't mean to go live in a world full of ponies that talk and fly and do magic. But if that's what you want to do then...” she says, her eyes starting to well up with tears.
“Mom, please don't cry, I will be okay. Trust me.” I say reassuringly.
“I know that, it's just me and your father will never see you again if you go.” she says.
I look down at the ground and sigh, then I get an idea. Spike can send letters to Princess Celestia, I wonder if he could send them to this world? “I have an idea!” I exclaim a little too loud making everyone jump. I turn to Twilight, “Since Spike is able to send letters to Princess Celestia, can't he send them here?”
Twilight thinks for a moment, “I think I could use a spell that will make him able to do that, I would have to read up on it, but I'm sure its possible.” she says and nods.
I turn back to my parents and smile, “See, I will still be able to talk to you.”
“But, how will we be able to send letters back to you?” my father asks.
“I can put a spell on the letter that when you write back and wrap the ribbon from the previous letter on it, it will teleport back to us, Easy.” Twilight says.
Mom and Dad look to each other for a moment in silence, finally my mom nods and so does my dad. “Well, when are you going?” My mom asks me.
“Today...” I look at the clock, it shows five o'clock, wow time sure does fly when you have to explain a lot of stuff. “...in about an hour.” I say.
“Wow, I guess this is it then, our little boy is all grown up and off to have a new life.” my mom says, she gets up and gives me a hug, “I'll miss you Dean. Now don't forget to write to us.” she says.
My dad stands up next to her and holds out his hand for me to shake, I grab it and he pulls me into a hug, “Now don't cause any trouble in that world now, ya hear?.” he says. I chuckle and nod.
My dad then walks up to Twilight and kneels down and extends his hand “It was nice meeting you, though it startled me at first to see a talking unicorn, you don't see that very often here on earth, since unicorns don't exist here.” he says. Twilight puts her hoof in his hand and shakes it.
“You can come with us when we go to the forest to see us leave.” I say to my parents. They smile when I say that and nod.
“Is Alex and Max going with you?” Mom asks.
I nod, “Yep, They are already out of their house so it's okay.” I say looking to Alex and Max and they nod.
“Don't you all want some breakfast before you go?” Mom asks.
“Um... Do we have time?” I ask looking at Twilight
“We should go before the sun comes up, so no other humans spot us, but I guess a small breakfast would be okay.”
Mom smiles a bit and goes to the kitchen, “How does toast sound?” She calls from the kitchen.
“Sure Mom.” I say as we all walk in to the dining room, which is also part of the kitchen.
After a while of cooking toast, Mom comes in with a large plate holding a lot of toast on it, she also brings out a jar of apple jelly.
We all eat our fill in toast and milk and clean up, I am amazed we had that much bread. “Alright we should probably head out now.” Twilight says and we walk out the back door to the woods. It's still dark enough so no one can see us but bright enough to see whats in front of us.
We finally enter into the woods, we don't go as far as we did when we went camping, we would need the cars for that, we go in a bit so no one will suspect anything.
We find a clearing in the middle of the woods, “Well this is it Mom and Dad, I thank you for raising me, you were awesome, really, but this is where I say farewell.” I give them both another hug and walk back into the group. I see Mom tearing up again, Dad smiles a bit and has a tear come out of his eye.
“Okay you ready?” Twilight asks everyone. We all nod. “Alright, here we go.” She says and her horn lights up.
A white glow appears around us, and I notice as everything around me starts to get taller. I look down at the ground to see that I have hooves once again, I can't help but smile. I look back at Mom and Dad, they look a bit shocked to see us three teenagers as ponies. I wave my hoof at them and they wave back. Everything fades into darkness...
I hear the sound of chirping birds around me, I open my eyes to see the trees of the forest, I get up and look down at myself, I see the hooves are still there. I feel a nudge on my side; I look to see who it is and it's Pinkie, she smiles and gives me a long kiss on the lips.
I pull Pinkie into a hug, “It's good to be home at last...” I whisper.
