Twilight patiently tapped her hoof on the armrest of the hospital chair, waiting for the news on how Starlight was doing.

Apparently a bugbear had gotten into Ponyville again, and Starlight just happened to run into it while she had been running errands. She fought it off as well as she could with her magic and while it was scared off, it had stung her in the side.

Twilight was really concerned about Starlight’s state, a sting from a bugbear was different from a bee after all. She might be too weak to move after what the bear did to her. Oh why hadn’t she been there? Especially since there had been rumors of a bugbear being in the Everfree Forest.

If I had been there, maybe Starlight wouldn’t be so heavily injured. Oh Celestia, why didn’t I listen to the rumors?

Twilight hated feeling like this, she was Starlight’s girlfriend, she was supposed to make sure she was safe but instead, she was stuck in a hospital room with a sting wound from a bugbear because of her carelessness.

Soon Nurse Redheart had walked over to Twilight and said, “Um, your majesty. You can see Starlight Glimmer now.”

Twilight sighed in relief and soon got up, she and Redheart began walking to the hospital room and soon she found Starlight unconscious in the hospital bed.

“She’s not dead is she?” Twilight gulped nervously and sweated with fear, if Starlight was dead she would never be the same.

“No. She’s very much alive. She’s just unconscious.” Nurse Redheart clarified.

“I see.” Twilight said, “May I have a moment with her?”

“I don’t know why you’d want to stick around with her being unconscious but I won’t stop you.” Nurse Redheart shrugged before walking out and soon Twilight walked over to Starlight, and observed her situation, she was alive like Nurse Redheart said due to her chest going up and down though she seemed so peaceful under the covers, her eyes were closed softly and she was peacefully breathing in and out. Though that still didn’t deter from the fact that there was likely a cast around her.

“Hey Starlight.” Twilight said softly before sighing, “I know you probably can’t hear me since you’re… unconscious and all but I need to say this. Starlight, I’m sorry. I feel like a failure for not being there at a time when you needed me. I heard there was a bugbear lurking but I thought those were just rumors. I had no idea, it would actually attack Ponyville.”

You were really brave to stop it on your own.” Twilight smiled fondly, “That’s one of the things I like about you, y’know. You’re willing to face the challenge even if it seems hard. I’ll admit, you sometimes act on impulse, but you never give up on what’s right. That’s what led you to help save Equestria twice.”

“You know, I… still sometimes feel guilty about how I treated you when we brought back Starswirl and the Pillars back. I don’t regret bringing them back, but… I wasn’t fair to you. I never listened to your input, only listening to Starswirl despite you pointing out some valid arguments.” Twilight said guiltily, “Why am I bringing this up? Well… I’m feeling that same guilt again. I wasn’t there to protect you, and now you’re here.”

She then tears up, “And I love you Starlight, I don’t want the pony I care about to be holed up in this room. This is all my fault.”

“No it’s not.” Starlight muttered as she opened her eyes slowly and faced Twilight much to her shock.

“How much of my rant did you hear?” Twilight asked.

“Every word.” Starlight smiled, “I figured it’d be easier for you to let your feelings out without interruption so I let you do that.”

“I’m glad to see you’re alive. Bugbear stings, while not likely, can lead to death if stung too deep.” Twilight smiled back before sighing, “Again, I’m…”

“Stop.” Starlight told the alicorn sternly, “You did nothing wrong Twilight. I didn’t know the bugbear was around either until today. We couldn’t have known this would happen, yes, there were the rumors but those were small and too far and few in between.”

“But Starlight, I should have…” Twilight began before Starlight interrupted, “No Twilight, none of this is your fault. If anything, had you been there. You could have been hurt too. We have no way of knowing what could’ve happened.”

Twilight looked at Starlight in shock at how stern she was being, before Starlight gave Twilight a softer gaze, “Besides, you aren’t a failure. After all, you managed to defeat Nightmare Moon, Discord, Queen Chrysalis, Tirek, and The Storm King and kept Equestria at peace. You were able to ascend to becoming an alicorn and heck, you managed to change my life for the better.”

Twilight smiled with a blush, she did do that, didn’t she?

“I fell for you because you’re sweet, kind, passionate, and the fact you’re just a great pony in general.” Starlight smiled warmly, “Twilight… I love you and I don’t want you to get upset with yourself over this.”

Twilight smiled tearfully and spoke up, “Thank you Starlight. I needed to hear that.”

“Hey. You’re always there for me, it’s time I do the same thing.” Starlight smiled as she leaned into her pillow.

“Uh Princess.” Nurse Redheart said nervously to which Twilight turned to, “It’s time for you to go. A blue unicorn is waiting to visit your friend now.”

“Ah, Trixie came sooner than I thought.” Twilight smiled sheepishly, “I’ll see you later Starlight.”

“You too.” Starlight waved to Twilight as she walked off.

Twilight felt a lot better coming out of that room then she did earlier, even though Starlight was not fully healed by the sting yet, she at least felt some reassurance that Starlight would be okay, and some reassurance in herself that things between her and Starlight would work just fine.

B: Bond

View Online

Twilight had always been questioned about her relationship with Starlight, after all, it was quite a phenomenon to see a Princess date a former villain of all creatures.

Twilight knew the answer to that, it had something to do with their bond.

Their bond ironically began during Starlight’s time travel stunt. Once she was able to get Starlight to reveal her motives for creating her village, she got a better understanding of how her mindset worked.

Yes, she will admit, she did stop Starlight because of how she was about to rip the scroll but she would be lying if she said she didn’t understand what she was going through. After all, Starlight did lose her friend because of a cutie mark and childhood memories tend to stick.

After taking Starlight in as her student, Twilight made sure not to give off an intimidating presence, and more of a friendly one. After all, she was teaching her friendship. Eventually, they began to bond over interests like magic, and appreciated each other’s interests.

Starlight’s graduation was a stepping stone in their growing relationship, and quite honestly, she had to thank Discord for that. Ironic as it was.

Starlight began to start feeling more comfortable around Twilight, and felt less nervous around her. It only made their bond stronger than it used to be. Twilight would still call Starlight out whenever she did something wrong but it didn’t deter from their actual bond.

Pretty much any adversity the two faced they were able to come out okay, like when the Pony Of Shadows and the Pillars were brought back. The two had disagreed on whether it would be best to try and reform Stygian or not. Despite that, they came out okay.

Heck, Twilight wasn’t the only one there for Starlight, Starlight had also been able to be there for Twilight too. Like when Twilight had opened the School Of Friendship, Starlight was able to help Twilight get the courage to do things her way despite the EEA trying to shut it down, using a pretty valid loophole too.

Twilight felt that her bond with Starlight was a lot more strong than her other friends for some reason, it was weird to her but a good weird. She did want to know why she felt that way though, so she consulted Celestia about the idea, because she had been able to guide her for almost her whole life.

When she consulted Celestia she had explained to her how Starlight made her feel like a swirl of emotions were going down her stomach and how her cheeks would start to heat up, let’s just say, Twilight probably should’ve recognized she fell for Starlight sooner. Celestia had a good laugh about that before telling her that Cadence would be better suited for helping her.

Once she did get Cadence’s help, she was better able to explain that she was going through, which was love.

When Twilight had figured this out, she was super worried, she wasn’t sure how to deal with this revelation. She was in love with one of her closest friends for pony’s sake. It felt so wrong and yet so right at the same time.

Ultimately, she tried distancing herself around Starlight, not too much of course, she still wanted to be around her but to the point where she wouldn’t get a sudden urge to kiss her or something impulsive like that.

However, Starlight did end up noticing this change of events and confronted Twilight about it in the library.

“Twilight, I think we should talk.” Starlight said softly.

“Okay… what is it Starlight?” Twilight asked curiously.

“It’s just… I don’t know, I feel like you’re ignoring me.” Starlight sighed sadly.

“Huh? I don’t ignore you. What gave you that crazy idea?” Twilight asked with a chuckle.

“I get you haven’t been completely disregarding me, but you act more awkward, distance yourself a little more from me, and sometimes just leave the room whenever it’s just you and me for some reason.” Starlight explains solemnly, “Twilight, if you don’t want to see me constantly, that’s fine. I do have enough bits for my own place thanks to the School Of Friendship.”

Twilight immediately knew she had to clear things up, she didn’t want to start having Starlight drift away from her.

“Look Starlight. You’re not doing anything wrong, I…I’m in love with you!” Twilight blurted out before she could try and stop herself.

Twilight looked to see Starlight was in shock and continued speaking, “Yeah, kinda shocking to hear come from me huh?” She laughed bitterly before speaking reassuringly, “It’s fine if you don’t feel the same. I get it.”

To her surprise Starlight smiled sheepishly, “To be honest, it’s actually a relief to hear you say that. I was wondering what you were going to say if I confessed to you but now I know.”

Twilight was shocked to see Starlight feel the same way so she spoke up, “You fell for me too. How is that possible? We were rivals at first.”

“Honestly, I just feel a certain type of bond with you after our rivalry that I just can’t explain. You… probably wouldn’t get it.” Starlight blushed nervously.

Twilight realized something, it all clicked to her. That’s why their relationship felt so special, they had this unspoken bond and solidarity that made them feel this way about each other.

“Actually… I completely get it.” Twilight smiled as she lifted Starlight’s chin, she then smiled back at Twilight.

So yeah, Twilight couldn’t completely explain the foundation of her relationship with Starlight, but what she did know is that she and Starlight certainly felt something special, and they had a unique and powerful bond to prove that.

Twilight couldn’t believe she had come this far.

When she first moved to Ponyville, she didn’t even think that she needed friendship in her life. Let alone love.

Though while Applejack, Rainbow Dash, Pinkie Pie, Rarity, Fluttershy, and Spike introduced her to friendship, Starlight Glimmer had introduced her how to feel love.

Well, not when they first met of course but after Starlight repented for her crimes and let herself open up to Twilight, they blossomed a friendship which eventually turned into a relationship after the Cozy Glow incident occurred, realizing how much they truly meant to each other as Starlight was nearly sucked into another dimension. Weird way to figure it out but it made sense in a way.

They dated for a good while and despite some issues, they were able to work it out. Twilight was very surprised when Starlight proposed to her, but she was still joyful when she did. She said yes without a second thought.

Currently she was getting ready for the wedding was in a lavender dress when suddenly the door burst wide open and Pinkie Pie smiled, “Here we arrrrrrre!”

“Pinkie. I thought we discussed on knocking.” Twilight rolled her eyes.

“You’re putting on a dress. It’s not like you need that much privacy.” Rainbow Dash rolled her eyes as she, Applejack, Rarity, and Fluttershy walked in with grins.

“Oh Twilight, we’re just so happy for you. I can’t believe you of all ponies are getting married, I mean that in a good way of course.” Rarity hugged Twilight lightly to which the alicorn smiles at.

“I’m just surprised you and Starlight are going this far but either way, I’m happy for you.” Fluttershy admits softly.

“Thanks girls.” Twilight smiled fondly before gaining a bit of a nervous frown, “I’m just hoping Starlight’s as excited as I am.”

“What do you mean?” Applejack asked curiously.

“Yeah. Wasn’t she the one who proposed?” Rainbow Dash said in confusion.

“I mean, I know she loves me, and I love her too. I just know she can get nervous at times and I just hope she isn’t too worried about what happens next.” Twilight explained with a glance at the doorway.

The five friends could understand Twilight’s worries, as pretty much every couple would go through with this before the big wedding.

“We definitely can understand your point Twilight, and I’m sure Starlight is at least somewhat nervous.” Fluttershy said with a comforting hoof on her back.

“But that doesn’t mean she doesn’t care about you.” Pinkie Pie said happily, “Maybe she will have worries about the future but that doesn’t mean she doesn’t care, it’s because she really cares and doesn’t want to screw up.”

“I guess that’s fair.” Twilight shifts her eyes nervously.

“Trust us darling. Starlight’s not the most normal mare in the world but it’s clear you two really care about each other, if you didn’t, you probably wouldn’t have been able to come as far as you did.” Rarity smiled at Twilight who smiled back.

“Thank you girls. I needed to hear that.” Twilight sighed happily as she embraced the girls, even though her heart belonged to Starlight, she still had a special place for her friends.

Meanwhile Starlight was in a short white dress as she paced around in the dressing room nervously, Trixie and Spike were inside and watching the scene unfold.

“Starlight. Your pacing shows me that you’re worried and as much as Trixie normally finds this a bit unwarranted, it is your wedding day so I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt and say it’s something serious this time.” Trixie said.

“Smooth.” Spike rolled his eyes which earned him a glare from Trixie.

“Me? Nervous?” Starlight smiled sheepishly, “I’m just about to marry the pony I love, who is a princess, and…”

“And?” Trixie asked with a raised eyebrow.

“Look at her Trixie. Practically everypony adores her, she’s the savior of Equestria, a princess, and lovable.” Starlight said solemnly before looking in the mirror, “And look at me. I’m just Starlight Glimmer. Former dictator, impulsive unicorn, what if I do something wrong?”

“Starlight. Relationships aren’t picture perfect. You’re bound to go through some issues and make some mistakes as your life goes on.” Spike said reassuringly, “That doesn’t mean your marriage will fail.”

“I should believe you and I want to. I want to marry Twilight, but I’m just afraid that I’ll do something and she’ll leave me.” Starlight sighed sadly.

Suddenly a flash of light appeared and Discord was inside.

“What are you doing here?” Trixie asked in annoyance.

“What?! Can’t a friendly Draconequus pop in and visit to his favorite soon to be wed?” Discord asked with a smirk.

“I thought Twilight was your favorite out of the two of them.” Spike said with a raised eyebrow.

“You play favorites Discord?” Starlight asked curiously.

“Not really. I just had more experience with her.” Discord shrugged before frowning sheepishly, “And… I have to talk with you. I’m aware of what you’re going through.”

“You are?” Starlight asked with a raised eyebrow.

“And here I thought you couldn’t be any more creepy.” Trixie rolled her eyes.

“If you must know. I am merely observant. I’ve been where Starlight is. Sometimes I felt that I wasn’t good enough for Fluttershy’s friendship. I felt I was nothing but a chaotic mess that she would get tired of once she realized how different we were.” Discord said sympathetically, “And since Starlight’s getting married, I imagine her stress is much worse than mine.”

“I guess so.” Starlight gulped.

“Look, I know we may not be the best of friends but I know you and Twilight really love each other.” Discord sighed, “Literally. I’ve never seen Twilight light up as much as she does when she’s with you.”

Starlight smiled with a blush, “She does?”

“I can’t get her to shut up about how much you mean to her.” Spike added fondly, “Trust us Starlight. She loves you a lot.”

“You and Twilight will be able to make your marriage work. After all, if you both can save Equestria and make it a better place, this should be easy.” Trixie smiled reassuringly.

Starlight chuckled and sighed, “Thanks guys, I think I’m ready. I can do this.”

“That sounds like the brave unicorn who saved the world.” Discord smiled proudly, “Come on. It’s time.”

Starlight stood nervously at the altar, probably due to the large crowd. She spotted dozens of ponies, the ones that caught her eye were Twilight’s parents who waved kindly at her when they noticed her. She waved back with a smile. She was grateful they were so supportive of her relationship, after all it just felt right.

She also spotted ponies like Maud, Double Diamond, Party Favor, Night Glider, and Sugar Belle in the crowd. She was glad they were all here, it just made the day more special.

She looked around the altar, Princess Celestia was officiating the wedding, given it was a princess getting married, it was bound to be a royal wedding so hence why she was the minister.

She also saw Applejack, Rainbow Dash, Rarity, Pinkie Pie, and Fluttershy at the side where Twilight would be. They were the bridesmaids, she gave a smile in their direction, in a way, they were the reason why this was all happening, given they were able to help give Starlight a chance so she was grateful to them.

“Psst.” She heard from behind her, it was Sunburst, Starlight had taken the groom role of the wedding since Twilight didn’t want to choose a best mare between her five friends, with Starlight, it was less hard.

“You doing okay?” Sunburst whispered.

“I think I’m doing just fine.” Starlight whispered back.

“I’m glad you’ve come so far Starlight. I’m proud of you buddy.” Sunburst whispered, which made Starlight smile.

Soon the trumpets began playing and soon wedding music began to play.

Twilight soon began to walk inside the crowded room as the Cutie Mark Crusaders planted flower petals on the carpet.

Shining Armor soon began leading her towards Starlight as Twilight fought to contain her squee, this was happening.

“Thanks for agreeing to lead me down the altar big bro.” Twilight whispered with a smile.

“Of course. It is your special day, besides I might as well make it up to you after… y’know.” Shining Armor trailed off but Twilight knew exactly what he was speaking of.

“I already forgave you for what Chrysalis did years ago.” Twilight reassured him.

“I know. It just felt right to do this.” Shining Armor smiled.

Twilight smiled back before heading to the altar and stood next to Starlight who smiled brightly at the alicorn, Twilight smiled back.

“Welcome, friends, family, and all creatures of Equestria. We are gathered here today to witness the Union of Princess Twilight Sparkle and Starlight Glimmer. These two have quite a history together. From enemies, to friends, to the couple we see today.” Celestia spoke up, making Starlight blush a bit in embarrassment, “Let us now hear the vows. Starlight Glimmer, you’re up first.”

“Twilight, when I first met you, I first saw you as a pawn to help make my twisted idea of equality come to life. When you defeated me, I sought revenge on you, to my surprise, you actually listened to my past and gave me the chance to grow into a better pony, the pony who I am today. I fell for you because you were caring, compassionate, and had a big heart. I won’t deny that we’ve been through issues, but I feel in my heart that no matter what happens we can get through it. Like you got through to me.” Starlight smiled softly.

Everyone simultaneously gave out an ‘Awww’ at Starlight’s speech. Discord suddenly blowing his nose with a tissue, which gained everyone’s attention.

“Sorry.” Discord chuckled nervously before sucking the tissue in the vacuum that is his nose.

Soon it was Twilight’s turn to speak, “Starlight, when I first met you, I didn’t know what to make of you. I found your methods as a villain unorthodox, but somehow, I never felt the same animosity I felt with other villains like Chrysalis or Tirek, I still found you a threat but less so. Maybe because I knew you actually believed in your ideals for friendship, and weren’t just being evil for the sake of it. When you did take my hoof, I knew I had to help you be the best pony you could be. I know you make mistakes but even then, you learn from them. You’ve shown that you can be compassionate, dedicated, and even loyal to what you care about and know is right, heck, even you’ve taught me in ways I couldn’t have imagined, especially when it came to the Pony Of Shadows. Maybe that’s why I fell for you in the first place. I swear Starlight, like I said back in your ceremony, I’ll always be there for you.”

“Best wedding ever.” Pinkie Pie whispered with a squee towards Applejack who rolled her eyes in silent enjoyment.

“Thank you for that girls.” Celestia smiled before turning to Spike who walked over with a cushion that had yellow golden rings on it.

Soon Celestia placed a ring on both Twilight and Starlight’s horns.

“I now pronounce you both wife and wife.” Celestia said happily eliciting a childish giggle from Discord who shrinks back among noticing the glares he received.

“You may now kiss.” Celestia decreed.

Twilight and Starlight immediately kissed much to everyone’s joy, as they broke apart they smiled at each other. Despite the silence, they both knew that whatever they went through, they could do it together.

Starlight was currently reading a book in the map room peacefully, she needed something to do after all, Twilight was busy at a diplomatic meeting with Dragon Lord Ember and well, she didn’t have much to do. She decided to take it easy, it has been a while since she had one of those.

She had to admit, she was a bit nervous about any of the dragons hurting Twilight but she had confidence in Ember. She’s a good leader and is a good friend, she’ll likely make sure nothing bad happens.

Though it has been a while since she left, Starlight figured Twilight would be back by now.

She’s probably fine. Twilight’s pretty resourceful.

Suddenly Starlight saw Twilight walk in with a sigh of relief, “Hey Starlight.”

“Hey Twilight.” Starlight greeted her girlfriend with a hug, “How’d the meeting go?”

“It ran a bit long but you know, basic business of how to keep dragons and ponies at peace, and not cause any wars. You… probably wouldn’t understand it.” Twilight smiled sheepishly.

“Given I only ran a small village in the stupidest way imaginable, I think I understand your point.” Starlight chuckled as she let go of Twilight, of course she would always regret her villainous past, she’d be an idiot not to, but given she was comfortable around Twilight, she found it easy to make fun of herself a bit.

“Glad we see eye to eye on that.” Twilight laughed a bit, but soon Starlight noticed some singe marks on Twilight’s wings, they were small, but it concerned Starlight a bit.

“Hey Twilight, how come your wings are singed?” Starlight asked curiously, careful not to sound overprotective.

“Oh that.” Twilight raised her wing before smiling dismissively, “It’s not too bad. Just a minor burn.”

“What even happened? Was it the dragons?” Starlight asked with a raised eyebrow.

“No. I was actually flying back home, and I was flying over a volcano when suddenly it erupted and burnt my wings a bit.” Twilight explained calmly much to Starlight’s shock.

Twilight had just told Starlight that she nearly got caught in a volcano eruption, that could have killed her and she was acting so calm about it.

“Twilight… are you okay?” Starlight asked cautiously.

“I mean… my wings sting a bit but otherwise, I don’t feel that bad.” Twilight answered.

“And… you’re not bothered by the fact that you nearly got incinerated by a volcano?” Starlight asked with narrowed eyes.

“I mean why would I be? Sure I stress out from time to time, but I survived worse, plus I didn’t get hurt so not much harm was done.” Twilight shrugged with a smile.

Starlight couldn’t believe this, Twilight seemed so dismissive over the fact she could have died.

“Twilight?! I’m sorry but I can’t just shrug off that you nearly got blasted by a volcano!” Starlight said in bewilderment before Twilight grabbed Starlight shoulders in an attempt to comfort her, “Hey. Don’t worry Starlight. I’m still here. I’m fine.”

Twilight wasn’t sure why Starlight was getting so worked up, she wasn’t sure that it wasn’t such a big deal. The experience was kinda scary but it was over now. However, she could at least sympathize with Starlight’s stress.

“But what if you weren’t?” Starlight asked a bit angrily, “What if you didn’t dodge in time?”

Twilight’s expression seemed to falter before saying, “Well that would be bad… but I did so… it shouldn’t matter.” She then regains a more confident look, “But like I said, I survived worse and I didn’t get hurt.”

“Well it certainly matters to me!” Starlight said, starting to tear up, “You think that just because you’ve survived villainous threats and life threatening situations doesn’t mean I don’t worry about your safety when you do something dangerous. Well you’re wrong Twilight. I do care. I’m not even mad since this was clearly an accident but you could have been a bit more careful and fly around the volcano.”

Twilight was starting to get why Starlight was so upset, “I-I never thought of it that way.” She admitted sheepishly.

“I’m sorry for getting on your case Twilight.” Starlight wiped the tears from her eyes, “I’m glad you’re okay, but sometimes I just worry about losing you. I can’t imagine how I’d feel if you were gone.”

Twilight however, embraced the unicorn tightly, “No no. You were justified in your anger and worry. I’m sorry for not being careful, just because I’m experienced in these type of situations doesn’t mean I shouldn’t be cautious. You’re right, I’ll be more careful.”

Starlight smiled as she leaned into the hug, “You know, despite all the chaos that goes on around us. I’m just glad you’re still here.”

Twilight smiled back as she continued embracing Starlight, “The same applies to you Starlight. The same for you.”

“Did I miss one of your gooey love fests again?” A familiar voice said teasingly, the two turned to see Spike smirking, though it immediately fell once he saw Twilight’s glare, “This ‘gooey love fest’ is a lot more serious than it looks.” Twilight lectured as she and Starlight released each other.

“How so?” Spike asked curiously.

“Let’s just say, Starlight taught me a little lesson in caution.” Twilight explained shortly as she smiled at Starlight warmly who smiled back.

Spike sighed as he read one of his comics, Starlight seemed to be out for the day with Trixie, and Twilight was currently doing something so overall, it seemed like it would be an average day.

Suddenly Starlight walked inside with an annoyed look on her face and groaned, “I cannot believe you Twilight!”

Twilight soon flew in and spoke with a guilty frown, “Okay. I can see where I may have crossed a line…”

“Crossed a line?! You were spying on me all day!” Starlight said incredulously, Spike immediately shut his book in annoyance, what did Twilight do now?

“Okay. What’s going on here you two?!” Spike asked angrily.

“Sorry to disturb you like this Spike, but Twilight here is so possessive that she feels the need to spy on me and Trixie while we’re hanging out.” Starlight narrowed her eyes in the alicorn’s direction.

“Only because she was starting to make me feel uneasy. She’s kind of clingy when it comes to you y’know.” Twilight twiddled her hooves nervously.

“She’s my best friend Twilight, of course she’ll want to see me often.” Starlight facehoofed in annoyance.

“I know I know. I just feel that sometimes she’s always trying to spite me somehow, you’re somepony valuable to me, and I think she sneaks some glances at you and… I don’t know… I just don’t want her to take you away from me.” Twilight said softly.

“And you don’t trust me to not cheat on you?” Starlight asked incredulously, still annoyed about the accusation.

“What?! No! I trust you Starlight, I just…” Twilight said in shock before Starlight interrupted, “No. You don’t trust me OR Trixie. Even if she did have these supposed feelings for me, she wouldn’t act on them. She has too much dignity for that.”

Starlight soon lit up her horn, “I’ll be in my room. Don’t follow me!” She said sternly before she teleported away and out of sight.

“Whoa. That was heavy.” Spike stared wide eyed in shock.

Twilight’s lip trembled before she laid herself on the floor, “Ugh. Way to go Twilight.” She grumbled to herself.

Spike sighed before speaking up, “Twilight, you know I care about you but what were you thinking?! Why did you think it was a good idea to spy on Starlight?!”

“I don’t know Spike.” Twilight said sadly, “I just had this gut feeling that Trixie and Starlight could just have more than a simple friendship and… I’m afraid I’ll lose Starlight to Trixie.”

“But Twilight, Starlight’s loyal. So loyal that she could give Rainbow Dash a run for her bits.” Spike told Twilight reassuringly.

“It’s not that I’m afraid of her cheating Spike. I just fear losing her in general so when I thought there was tension between her and Trixie… I lost it.” Twilight facehoofed.

“I understand where you’re coming from Twilight.” Spike patted the alicorn on her back, “But Starlight’s clearly upset with what you did. You need to talk this out with her.”

“Please. After what I did, I doubt she even wants me anymore.” Twilight sniffed.

“Look Twilight, you can’t just give up on what you have with Starlight. I know she’s upset but I doubt she doesn’t care about you anymore. Just please go talk to her.” Spike told the alicorn who sighed and smiled, “Okay. You’re right. I need to talk with her.”

Starlight just laid on her bed in contemplation, she didn’t know what to do. She loved Twilight, that was a fact but she couldn’t get over Twilight spying on her like that.

She was just unsure if Twilight had any trust in her.

Soon Starlight heard a knock on the door and sighed, “Who is it?”

“Starlight. It’s Twilight. Can I come in?” Twilight asked awkwardly.

Starlight sighed, she might as well talk this out with her. With a quick telekinesis spell, the door was open and Twilight entered with a remorseful look on her face.

“I know you said not to follow you, but I feel we need to talk about what I did.” Twilight told the unicorn sadly.

“I guess we do.” Starlight said as she rose from her bed before speaking, “Twilight. Why did you spy on me? I know it wasn’t out of malice but you really hurt me. It feels like you didn’t trust me to not be loyal to you.”

“I do trust you Starlight. That wasn’t my problem.” Twilight said as she wrapped a wing around Starlight, “Well what was it Twilight?” She asked a bit annoyed.

“It was… I never felt this way about anypony before.” Twilight sighed as she spoke.

“Huh?” Starlight raised an eyebrow.

“I mean, I’ve had crushes like Flash before, but what we have is different.” Twilight explained, “You and I understand each other, I actually feel more than just butterflies when I’m around you. I actually know what it’s like to love. It felt wonderful, you make me feel wonderful, and I didn’t want it taken away.”

“Aw Twilight…” Starlight said sympathetically.

“So when I thought things were brewing between you and Trixie, I wanted reassurance. I wanted to know that things between us wouldn’t fall apart. Instead I caused us to fall apart.” Twilight teared up.

Starlight immediately embraced Twilight and began to speak, “No. you didn’t cause us to fall apart.”

“What?” Twilight asked in shock, “But I spied on you. I acted overly clingy.”

“Look, what you did was wrong, and you should not have done it but I won’t lie. I can understand what you were going through.” Starlight told Twilight softly, “But just know Twilight, you’re not losing me. Even if I somehow have any silly attractions, they won’t mean anything compared to what I feel for you Twilight.”

“Trust me. What we have is basically eternal.” Starlight said happily to Twilight who smiled back.

Starlight prided herself on being strong. After all, it was her favorite quality about herself. Being strong meant that she didn’t need to feel weak and she hated being weak.

So why did this thunderstorm make her feel the weakest of all?

Starlight’s only told Twilight and Spike this but she was afraid of thunderstorms. It’s been that way since she was a child. She always found the storms dangerous, especially the lightning bolts. Why did these storms even need to exist? Especially since pegasi could control the weather.

Probably for balance or something, Starlight was starting to curse herself more and more for her twisted ideologies on equality more and more.

Was fate playing a cruel joke on her? Taunting her with thunderclaps and lightning strikes? Testing what little safety she had?

She was mostly able to get through this type of ordeal when Twilight and Spike were around but now Spike was asleep and Starlight felt it would be rude to wake him and Twilight was off doing some royal business at Canterlot.

Oh how she loved Twilight, but given she was out so late in this kind of storm made her panicked.

Starlight was aware storms in Equestria were contained pretty well all things considered but there are some moments where the storm could lose control and cause a major disaster. She worried that Twilight could potentially be hurt in the storm.

Starlight began to pale, what if Twilight had decided to fly too high when returning from her meeting with Celestia and suddenly a strike of lightning flew and…

No! That wouldn’t happen, Twilight’s smart. She’d know not to do that, if anything she would take a train instead.

Although… the lightning could also strike one of the train wheels, the conductor could lose control and the train would…

Starlight shook her head quickly in an attempt to get the nasty thought out of her head. She could not let this… foolishness consume her.

“Maybe I should go to sleep.” Starlight chuckled as she made her way towards her room and immediately plopped onto her bed.

“I’m worrying about nothing.” Starlight reassured herself, “Sure storms can be… dangerous, but Twilight will be fine. She’s smart, she’s capable. No bad weather is gonna change that.”

She’s safe, she’s safe, she’s safe, she’s safe, she’s safe.

She repeated that mantra as she let her eyes flutter down and close.

Starlight suddenly found herself in a rainy field, and seemed confused.

“Where am I?” Starlight asked curiously.

Suddenly lightning began to strike around her causing her to scream fearfully and run off.

What was happening? Why was she in this situation? Where was she?!

Suddenly she saw Twilight flying in the distance and immediately called out, “Twilight!”

When Twilight turned over to Starlight, a lightning bolt began to fly towards the alicorn much to Starlight’s horror.

“Look out!” Starlight called out in desperation but it was too late, the lightning began to head towards Twilight and…

Starlight soon woke up with a start and began panting and breathing heavily before letting herself calm down, she then realized that she was still in her room.

“That means I didn’t actually see Twilight get blasted by lightning.” Starlight sighed with a smile, “Thank Celestia.”

Starlight then felt the familiar dread haunt her as more thunder was heard.

“Maybe… I should go check if Twilight’s back yet.” Starlight decided fearfully.

Starlight slowly began walking to the entrance and nervously tapped her hoof on the ground, was Twilight okay? Did she make it out of the storm safely? Was her nightmare coming true?!

Soon the castle door opened and Twilight soon panted as she walked inside and shook herself dry and groaned, “Man. The rain is absolutely dreadful.”

“YOU’RE HOME!” Starlight practically galloped on top of Starlight and embraced her tightly, “Oh I’m so glad you’re okay! That storm seemed terrible and I was so worried!”

“Starlight… personal bubble…” Twilight squeaked out which caused Starlight to chuckle sheepishly as she let her go and backed away.

“Sorry.” Starlight rubbed her hoof awkwardly, “Got a little carried away.”

“Fair enough.” Twilight chuckled in good faith before giving a serious and concerned look, “Starlight? Was your fear of storms acting up again?”

“Yes.” Starlight looked away in shame, her fear may have subsided but now she feels embarrassed. She was getting this scared over a bunch of rumbling, “This is pathetic isn’t it?”

“Starlight, you don’t have to be ashamed of this.” Twilight reassured her girlfriend, “Being afraid of storms is completely justified. They can be dangerous.”

“But it’s never gotten this bad before.” Starlight said sadly, “Even as a kid, I wasn’t this jumpy and scared and back at my village I was able to contain my fear.”

“Can I ask if there was anything different about this time there was a storm?” Twilight asked curiously.

“Well… the big difference was that you weren’t here and in a storm. I guess now that I have somepony I love so much, I didn’t want my biggest fear taking them away from me.” Starlight admits as she rubbed her hoof.

Twilight embraced Starlight comfortingly, “Hey, it’s okay. I can’t say that a storm won’t hurt me, but I can say that it’s best to hold onto hope instead of assuming the worst.”

“I guess that’s a good idea.” Starlight smiled as she leaned into Twilight’s shoulder.

“Besides, I’m here now.” Twilight reminded the unicorn.

“And that’s all I care about right now.” Starlight added fondly.

G: Grateful

View Online

Twilight and Starlight were both really grateful to have each other, yes, you heard that right. Both of them were grateful for each other, it wasn’t just Starlight.

To state the obvious, Starlight was never sure if she ever deserved her second chance to redeem herself, after everything she did from manipulating an entire village to give up their cutie marks to using freaking time travel to get her revenge when her utopia crashed.

Despite that, Twilight had never given up on her, even when she had her pretty major relapse when she was still learning more about friendship. At the end of the day, Twilight gave her the strength to believe in herself and Starlight would always be grateful for that. Through big rescues, lifelong friendships, gaining confidence, and so much more, it all came down to the fact that Twilight was there since the very beginning.

Twilight honestly didn’t expect Starlight to have such a major impact in her life. When they first met, Starlight was another villain that she had to defeat but as she encountered Starlight more and more, she realized there was something good deep in her after all.

Once Twilight took Starlight in as her student, she certainly surprised Twilight. The more that they spent time together, the closer they got. It was great to finally have someone understand her passion of magic as much as Starlight did.

There were times when Twilight had her freakouts and moments of making a bad decision, Starlight was always there to reel her in.

The time where she almost banished the Pony Of Shadows to limbo, Starlight was there to remind Twilight that maybe there was more to the map summoning them to his hiding spot.

When the School Of Friendship almost got shut down, Starlight was still there to get Twilight to never give up on the things she believed in, no matter what.

Twilight and Starlight didn’t frequently tell each other how much they meant to each other and they didn’t even have to either. Starlight knew Twilight cared a lot about her and that she was aware of the positive impact she had after they met, while Twilight also knew that Starlight loved her as much as life itself.

One thing that they can both agree on is that they’re both grateful to have each other in their lives.
