What if Twilight and the girls failed in helping Rairty?
After the incident with Hoity Toity, Rarity spiraled into a deep depression. Her friends try everything they do to help her, but everything they do seems to worsen their friendship. She becomes bitter with her friends, and thinks of deciding to move hoping to become star with true friends. Can the girls help Rarity and save their friendship, or will they lose their friend the element of generosity?
It was a bright and sunny place for Ponyville, and it seem everypony was in great spirits. Birds were flying and chirping, ponies were going about their daily tasks all with smiles on their faces. It seems everyone was having a great day! All except one pony.
Rarity had opened her eyes long before Celestia had lifted the sun. Rarity's mane was not in her usual style, instead, it was messy, tangled, and greasy. She hasn't even bothered to put on her signature blue eyeshadow. Usually, she would have never let herself get this way but since the girls' dresses and Hoity Toity she's been ashamed, embarrassed, and hurt. All she has been doing is laying in bed only getting up to feed Opal, use the restroom, and eat or drink something, Rarity was staring at the window, her curtain was opened just a tiny bit, but she can almost see the outside. She heard a meow looked down and saw Opal meowing at her, with a concerned look. "Oh, Opal, darling. I'm so sorry you must be starving" Rarity said with a shocked and yet sad tone. "Don't worry darling, mommy will feed you, and I guess I can try to eat something as well"
She got up and trotted to the kitchen with Opal behind her. Just then she stopped and Opal ran into her back leg with a small, mew. Opal looked at Rarity and then followed her eyes to figure out what she was staring at. Opal saw what she was staring at and felt the hurt and sadness Rarity was feeling. It was the first set of dresses.
The first set of dresses, the ones that fit every pony so perfectly on them, the ones that matched their persona; the ones she worked so hard, the ones to give to the others as a gift from the bottom of her heart. Only for her friends to think she could have done better. She did everything that they asked. Did all their suggestion but in the end, even though she tried her hardest, she admitted they were the worse dresses she made.
"Oh Opal, am I a bad friend, I did everything and we were laughed at? Then again are they bad friends they knew how important these shows are to me? I have to make sure everything looks good, not like Sweetie Belle and her friends got all the scarps of fabric and other items around the boutique and mashed them to make a dress." Rarity exclaimed. "Don't forget their attitude too," Rarity shouted. then proceed to walk to the dress and mock each one of the girls. "Now the stars on my belt need to be technically accurate," Rarity started mocking Twilight, "Orion has three stars on his belt, not four." Rarity then moved to Fluttershy's dress. "French Couture please" She then proceeded to mock Applejack, "What it rains? Galoshes!" "Oh Pinkie Pie and Rainbow Dash were the worse ones!" she said while gritting her teeth. "MORE BALLOON! THAT'S TOO MANY BALLOONS! MORE CANDY! LESS CANDY! OH WAIT I KNOW STREAMERS!" Rarity was starting to sound angry when she reached Pinkie and Rainbow. "WHO DRESS IS THIS?" "JUST MAKE THE THING COOLER, JUST MAKE THE THING COOLER, JUST MAKE THE THING COOLER!" Rarity shouted then she did the unthinkable she went and ripped all the original and ugly dresses.
When she was done, she held her head up and continued what she was gonna do before she saw the dresses. "Opal, we no longer associate with those ruffians anymore. Applebloom is nothing like her sister, and Scootaloo is not like Rainbow Dash. If they ask why I don't associate with them then, I'll tell them the truth." Rarity said like a snooty Canterlot pony. Rarity saw a picture of her and the girls, the one when Twilight first moved here. Rarity used her magic and threw the picture in the trash. “There NOW we won’t see them ever again!” Rarity looked down and saw Opal. She sighed and proceed to head into the kitchen to feed Opal. “You know what Opal, I think I have a better idea. I’ll try to see if I can get my dresses in Canterlot and if I succeed we will move there! Of course, Sweetie Belle can stay here with Mother and Father if she wishes. But if she does move with me, she must be taught how to act in Canterlot.”
Rarity saw her unfinished dress and saw the torn dresses and the floor. If she wishes to proceed with her plan she must finish her dress. If she ever finds the motivation for it. "I'll do my best Opal. I shall try and finish my dress. Maybe find some other ponies who will appreciate a nice dress. Heck, I'll even make a suit for a colt!" Rarity shouted. she began to pace around and think of suiting mares and colts. "Hmmm.. well there is that one gentleman colt, that has a tie on him, Dr. Whooves if I'm not mistaken. Oh and one of the mares from the flower shops, and maybe the twins from the spa!" She proceeded to get a piece of paper and quill to write the ponies' names down. "Ooh, what's that one pegasus name, she is grey and with a blond mane and tail. She has yellow eyes that are crossed." she tapped her head with her hove, "Oh and she has a cutie mark of bubbles, I already can think of a few dresses ideas for her!"
Opal jumps onto the counter while looking at Rarity scribble names down. Even though she may have ended her friendship. She looks a bit happier, or so she guessed. Either way, she felt a bit relieved, that Rarity wasn't in her bed crying. "Let's see Lyra and BonBon, they can have sort of matching outfits that represent their relationship, or maybe I can ----" Rarity lets out a big gasp which startled Opal. " I GOT IT, I can make Sweetie Belle and the crusaders some dresses," Rarity said while clapping her hooves. "I have to get to work right now!" Rarity yelled excitedly, She ran into her bathroom to take a bath.
A few hours later their new faces were at the boutique. Dr. Whooves was currently chatting with Derpy. Lyra and Bon Bon were talking with each other. Then there were familiar faces of The Cutie Mark Crusaders who were talking among each other. "Welcome everypony, I'm sorry for taking so long and rushing you all last minute, but I have a surprise for each of you!" Rarity said while appearing behind a curtain. She then used her magic to show them new outfits just for them. "Dr. Whooves I preset you a nice well fitted fancy suit, for when you to look sharp and impressive or when you want to look fancy for that special somepony." The suit was impressive indeed. It was a nice forest green color with the buttons being a gold color and his pocket having a gold handkerchief. Then the vest was grey, with the undershirt being white. Then to his surprise, there was a brand new bowtie that matched his suit
"Derpy, I had so many ideas for you it was so hard to choose just one. Nevertheless, I finally had one that beat the others." The dress was greyish blue, with shiny yellow trim. the top seemed to cross over to each other. While the train was nice flowing having transparent fabric with circle diamonds that almost seem to look like bubbles. On top of the mannequin was a gold hairpin with the same circle of diamonds from the dress. Also, nice diamond color shoes, having a gold bracelet with diamonds, matching her hairpin, for each leg. "Lyra, I took inspiration from your name and your cutie mark!" The dress looks like an ancient goddess dress. A beautiful white dress with gold trimmings. For her head, a gold leaf, similar to what Rainbow dash would have worn but it was turned into a crown. She too had new shoes but her's were golden, also looking like goddess's shoes.
"Bon Bon, just like Lyra. I also took inspiration from your name and cutie mark." Her Dress was a nice cream color, the dress was designed when she walked so the train will flow ever so softly without touching the ground. The collar on her top had tiny blue and pink diamonds with a medium size purple diamond in the middle. For her head, a bow that almost looked like her cutie mark with a purple diamond in the middle. She had cream shoes with diamonds decorated just like her collar.
"Now last and certainly not least, my favorite little filly, and her friends. Sweetie Belle, Scootaloo, and AppleBloom even though you are far too young to attend any galas any time soon. You can get a feel for them" Applebloom's dress was a peach color with the bottom being a lighter shade. The collar of her top had beautiful white-pinkish flowers. She had a new hair bow, having the same color from the bottom and the same flower in the middle. She had shoes with a color matching her top. Scootoloo’s had a purple dress but in the light ever so slight change into orange. She had a little purple top hat that had a black line and a lighter shade of a little purple feather sticking out. She had purple shoes to match her dress but they didn't change into orange. Sweetie Belle almost matched her sister's but it was toned down a bit for the young filly. It was different shades of blue with dark blue diamonds decorating it. Her crown was still gold but blue diamonds instead. Her shoes were light blue and had a dark blue diamond in the center.
"So what does everypony think?" Rarity questioned them. She began to sweat and feel nervous. Oh no it's happening again. Rarity thought to herself.
Please, Please. For the love of Celestia please not again. Rarity stood there hoping the ponies in front of them would love it especially since one of them was her sister. Oh no it happened, I am a complete and utter fail-. Rarity's thoughts were interrupted by squeals and a tight hug.
"OOH OOH OOH RARITY I LOVE IT I LOVE IT!" it was Sweetie Belle, she was hugging Rarity then the rest of the crusaders joined her. "MS. RARITY IS THIS REALLY FOR ME? I CAN WEAR THIS?" Applebloom was hopping up and down near Rarity. " THAT IS SO AWESOME, THANK YOU RARITY THANK YOU" Scootloo was running around Rarity.
"Rarity it's so beautiful, no pony has done this for me." Derpy was the first adult to speak. "I love it, how much do I owe you?" "Nononono darling, none of you owe me anything, they are all gifts. Your happiness and loving them is enough!" Rarity explained. "Rarity you didn't have to. We are just regular ponies." Lyra said. "What! Regular? You are everything but regular!" Rarity shouted. "But you are an Element Of Harmony, you are friends with Celestia's best student!" BonBon explained. Rarity cringed when she said that before she could speak, Dr. Whooves spoke. "Rarity, if this is your design then, then who were those weird and awful dresses from the show? No offense if it was yours!" he asked. "Well, they were mine but the girls wanted to change them," Rarity said while she used her magic to show the drawings of the original dresses. "see these were the original design." "What the hay! I would were these, even though they may not match me, I would wear them!" Lyra shouted. "Rarity is that your dress right there?" Dr. Whooves pointed to the finished dress. "Yes, it is. Why do you ask?" Rarity said curiously. "PERFECT! Ladies get them fillies in their dresses, and you three! I SHALL RETURN!" Dr. Whooves shouted. "Where are you going Dr.?" Derpy asked. "Trust me, ladies, do it when I get back I'll put my suit on!" Dr. Whooves said as he ran out the door.
An hour later Dr. Whooves comes running back to the others, bursting open the door to the boutique. "Sorry to startle you all! Where is my suit I have to get it on! Everypony hurry final touches now!" Dr. Whooves shouted with short breaths. "Mr. Dr. Whooves, why did you tell all of us to put on our dresses?" Applebloom questioned him while Lyra combed her hair and put her bow on. "Well, little one, if some of you didn't notice I was helping Hoity Toity. He stayed in Ponyville for the night and I just so happen to catch him before he left!" Dr. Whooves explained while putting on his suit from behind a curtain. "He should be here any second," he said while coming out of the curtain in his suit. "How do I look?" "Handsome!" Derpy said with a giggle and her cheeks turning red. "Wait Hoity Toity is coming here!"Rarity yelled. "Rarity please, trust me." Dr. Whooves spoke. Just then, Hoity Toity arrived at the boutique, "This better be good, I have a lot of time than to see the disaster of a dress." Hoity Toity looked around to see no one. Just then the lights went out and lights went on the stage, then the curtains opened.
Many bubbles came into view. They floated down and popped to reveal little diamonds. Zooming out to reveal Derpy posing. Hoity Toity let out a gasp. Beakers with different liquids appear, then they start smoking in all colors. Out of the smoke Dr. Whooves appears in his suit. "Oh my that is just an amazing suit." said Hoity Toity. White fluffy clouds appear behind shiny sunlight beams. Lyra appears on the cloud playing the lyre. She then gets up and poses. "It's so beautiful, is this a goddess." Candy wrappers fell like rain before one landed on Bon Bon showing her bow. She looks up and poses. "Amazing!" Just then Hoity Toity stopped and was shocked. White-pinkish flowers, light purple feathers, and blue diamonds appear. The flowers fall onto Applebloom's bow, a feather lands in Scootoloo's hat, and the diamonds land on Sweetie Belle's crown. They then pose. "Adorable fillies, with wonderful dresses" Swirls appear to show Rarity in her dress, and the others appear behind her posing with their outfits. "WONDERFUL, AMAZING!" Hoity Toity said while clapping.
Hoity Toity approached the stage, "Rarity how come you didn't show these dresses, at the show last night? They are absolutely beautiful!" "Well, the ponies who were modeling didn't appreciate the original dresses. So they made me redo it and that's the dresses you saw." Rarity used her magic and once again showed the original designs. "These are the original, so I decided to make new dresses and also a suit to these ponies you see here, and they didn't change it. They appreciated it." Rarity said. "Well Ms. Rairty, I think these outfits need to be seen by everyone. I'm gonna make sure Canterlot here's about a talented pony from Ponyville!" "CANTERLOT!?" Rarity shouted, "That's my dream for dresses to be seen by" just then the door opened, and Spike came in running. "Rarity I just heard, congratulations!" Spiked yelled. "Uhhh?" Rarity couldn't speak, then she giggled nervously. "I'M GONNA TELL THE OTHERS!" Spike ran out ignoring the stares the others were giving him. "WAIT!" Rarity yelled "I KNOW RARITY, I NEED TO HURRY!" Spike ran out ignoring Rarity.
"Hurry up guys!" Spike yelled. "Spike are you sure about this" Twilight questioned Spike. "For the last time, Twilight I'm sure, she was so happy. Hoity Toity was there, and so were other ponies, and the crusaders. But I think Rarity is still upset because those dresses were weird." Spike said. When they arrive at the boutique, many ponies gathered outside the boutique. Spiked pushed the crowd out of the way, still ignoring some of the stares and words the ponies were giving him and the others. Rarity, Dr. Whooves, Derpy, Lyra, Bon Bon, and The Crusaders were surrounded and posing for the cameras. They were being interviewed, and Rarity was being asked if she could make them their dresses and suits. Spike helped the others to the front, they shouted for Rarity's attention, only to be met with angry and disgusted gazes from the ones being interviewed and the others in the boutique. "Well if it isn't the 'fashion critics" shouted a random mare. "Uh oh don't show your outfits they are gonna try to fix it" another mare shouted. "What do they know about fashion, did you see those outfits," a stallion said, then the boutique was met with laughs. "We have every right to be here, Rarity is our friend!" Rainbow Dash said she flew up to Rarity and hugged "Right Rarity?" "Can someone please escort these five ponies out, especially that dragon?" Rarity said as she moved away from Dash. "Now hold Rarity, don't go acting all high and mighty, now that you have a chance in Canterlot." Applejack said. "Oh like I was gonna get into here with those ridiculous outfits, you each call a dress." Rarity said in a huff. "Well, I'm not gonna let my Lil sis be here with you until you come down from your throne! Come on Applebloom." Applejack said. Applebloom refuses to move. "Let's go Applebloom!" Applejack said annoyed. "She's not leaving" an elderly voice came in. Applejack turned to see Granny Smith. "Granny!" "Applejack you and the others need to leave. Don't ruin Rarity's special day. Have I not taught you 'Don't look a gift horse in the mouth." "But Granny Smith, we are Rarity's friends and we wanted to celebrate with her," Fluttershy said so quietly. "WE ARE JUST SO HAPPY FOR RARITY, IT'S FANTASTERFFIC SHE MADE HER DREAM!" Pinkie Pie said. "Well I think you all need to get on out here, shame on you for not appreciating a gift from the heart," Granny said. "So go on, don't think 'cause it's your silly dresses." "We are not leaving, we are Rarity's friends and we are staying," Twilight said while looking at Rarity with a smile. "Guards get them out," Rarity said. "Rarity!" Twilight yelled. "Get out of here" a pony yelled. as more yelled "Shame on you" "Leave" "And they are the elements of friendship?" "I wonder what Celestia will say about her star student still not knowing what friendship is."
Spike ran towards Rarity only to be pulled by the magic of a guard. Then the others were thrown out, as cheers were met from the boutique. The rest stared, broken that everypony has shut them out. Just then a showdown appeared. They turned to see Princess Celestia. They bowed to her, relieved that Rarity will come back down to earth with Celestia's help. "Princess Celestia, I'm so glad you're here Rarity is-" Twilight was interrupted. "Twilight Sparkle, I expected better from you all of you!" Celestia spoke in an angry and disappointed voice.
Twilight was surprised to hear her mentor was so angry at her and ashamed. The others were just as surprised, Celestia is a loving ruler who understands everyone. Everypony broke their gaze from the ruler and turned to Twilight, who was shocked and her eyes started to tear up.
"I thought you knew better than this Twilight, I heard everything!" Celestia's voice was not her normal soft and sweet voice, it was an angry and bitter tone. "Your best friend makes dresses for all of you and you tell her you don't like designs and then remake them and embarrass her?!" Celestia stomped her hooves and the now quivering friends. "Why would you ever do that, what if you offer books, the best apples cider, the best party, the sweetest animal, or the perfect weather then some pony says to you, 'Pinkie this is a good party but I don't like the streamer colors, I rather have them a darker shade of pink these are too light!'
Spike was the first one to speak, "P-Princess Celestia may I say--" "NO, YOU MAY NOT SAY ANYTHING SPIKE!" Celestia yelled. "IF ANYTHING YOU ARE ALSO A CAUSE OF THIS, ARE YOU THIS OBLIVIOUS? YOU SEE THAT RARITY IS BEING LAUGHED AT AND INSTEAD OF PROTECTING HER, YOU MAKE HER GO ON STAGE AND BE EVEN MORE RIDICULED! THEN AT THE BOUTIQUE YOU PUSHED AND FORCED YOUR WAY TO THE FRONT!" Celestia sighed, passed the group, and stopped, her back towards them, "You'll be in one of the castle rooms, any magic or flying attempts or any attempts of escape, will be blocked. You will stay there and we will discuss this more." Celestia used her magic in a flash the group was gone. Celestia then walked to the boutique.
The group of ponies flashed into a room. They looked around it was empty, void of anything. No tables or chairs not even windows. The only thing was some candles that gave the room an orange glow even then, it was dark. Twilight looked around the room, she wonder where they were. Fluttershy spoke softly, "Where are we? I don't like this place, it's so dark!" she screamed the last part as she started whimpering. "Princess Celestia did say it's one of the castle rooms right?" Rainbow Dash asked. "Twi do you know this place?" Applejack turned to Twilight. "I don't know this room nor did I think it existed," Twilight said. "Well, I think it looks spooky! OOOH this is a perfect place for Nightmare Night!!! Don't you agree girls?" Pinkie exclaimed. "ARE YOU SERIOUS RIGHT NOW? Everyone turned in the direction of the voice. It was Spike. "We are who knows where, in very VERY serious trouble with Princess Celestia, and Rarity has completely forgotten about us! And you want to plan one of your stupid parties?" Spike yelled as he approached Pinkie. "Hey, just because we are here doesn't mean we can't have fun!" Pinke said to Spike. "FUN?" Applejack yelled, "For goodness sake Pinkie, look around can't you see we are in serious trouble." Applejack was the next to approach the party pony. "Oh wait there's not enough balloons or streamers, no that's not it. It's too much right" "Oh, you're the one to talk Applejack."Twilight was the next one to speak. "Seriously galoshes? If you wanted to wear some rain boots you could have just worn a raincoat with it. Not a dress!" "Oh come on Twilight!" Rainbowdash was next to speak. "Oh I know the stars so well, I need to have all the stars!" "Weren't you the one acting more snooty than a Canterlot pony?" Spike spoke. "Acting like yore too good for everyone, all Rairty did was ask for opinions and you just said 'Make it cooler'" Spike said in a mocking tone. "And then there's Spike who decides to humiliate Rairty, and bring her on stage," Fluttershy said to the surprise of the others. "Oh the pony whos always quiet, decides she knows better than fashion designers, that dress looks more like Filly put it together." Pinkie Pie was the last to speak. At that moment everyone was yelling at each other. Blaming one another for their situation
A few hours have passed by, and the group of friends is each in their section. No one faced anyone, the room was deathly silent, so quiet it felt as if you can hear the ponies heart beats. Twilight sat in the corner, her eyes fixated on the candles. She had never felt so ashamed and disappointed in herself before. She had made a fool of herself in front of Princess Celestia.
Fluttershy sat huddled in the opposite corner of the room, her hooves covering her face. She was scared and overwhelmed by the situation. She had never seen Princess Celestia so angry, and the thought of being locked up in a room for who knows how long terrified her.
Applejack sat in the middle of the room, her eyes closed and her hat tipped over her face.
Rainbow Dash sat with her back against the wall, her wings folded tightly against her sides. She was annoyed with the whole situation.
Pinkie Pie was the only one who seemed to be unfazed by the situation, she was sitting in the corner, bouncing up and down, humming a tune to herself. She knew they were in trouble, but she believed that they would find a way out of it together. She knew that they needed to lighten up the mood and try to make the best of the situation. She had tried to crack a few jokes to lighten the mood.
"Quit IT PINKIE!" the group finally snapped having enough of the party pony, making light of the situation.
Her hair losing her poofniess at last. Pinkie Pie sat in a corner, tears started streaming down her face, as she clutched her party hat tightly. She never knew that her friends could be so cruel to each other. Her cheerful and bubbly demeanor had completely disappeared, replaced with sadness and despair.
Twilight couldn't believe that things had gotten so out of hand. She had never seen her friends so angry with each other before, and it was all because of their selfishness and stubbornness. All she wanted was for them to understand their own mistakes and make things right with Rarity, but instead, they kept making changes to their dresses. She knew hers was the only tame one.
Rainbow Dash was fuming, unable to believe that her closest friends could be so blind and insensitive to Rarity's feelings. She wanted to go out and make things right, but she knew that Princess Celestia had put them in this room for a reason, and they needed to figure out she was the only one who looked 20% cooler.
Fluttershy, on the other hand, was terrified. She hated confrontation and conflict, and this situation was making her feel so uncomfortable. She wanted to make things right with Rarity, but she just didn't know how to do it without upsetting everyone else.
Applejack was frustrated and annoyed, unable to understand why her friends couldn't see their faults in this whole mess. She had always prided herself on her honesty and straightforwardness, but it seemed like her friends didn't appreciate her opinion at all. She appreciated the gift, it was her friends that kept making these changes.
And Spike was just feeling guilty. Guilty for not speaking up when Rarity seemed upset at the fashion show, guilty for pushing his way to the front of the crowd, and guilty for not protecting his friends when they needed him the most.
