Spike runs away after he screws up too much with Twilight.
Spike angers Twilight too much and feels useless so he runs away, when Twilight finds out she feels guilty and goes off to find him.(Takes place before The Last Problem)
Spike woke up feeling happy, he felt today was gonna be a good day.
Spike then saw Starlight walking in the hallway.
“Oh hey Starlight how’s it going?” Spike asked.
“Oh it’s going good so far, I’m heading over to Trixie’s to practice some magic.” Starlight explained.
“Oh well I hope you have a good time, me I gotta go help Twilight with some things, I’ll be a bit busy while she goes out with her friends.” Spike explained.
“Oh okay hope you have a good day.” Starlight said happily.
“You too.” Spike said with glee.
Spike sighed he never told anypony this but he always sort of felt left out when Twilight and her friends would leave.
Spike then went and cleaned the castle, and was just dusting off the bookshelves when he saw Twilight’s scrapbook.
Spike then looked at all the happy memories Twilight had with her friends and he did feel a bit left out as he didn't see himself in some photos so he wasn't sure if Twilight did care about him after all.
Well even so Spike still cared about Twilight and was happy to see her being happy.
Twilight and the girls were laughing and giggling they had an awesome day and they took many pictures along the way they met up with Starlight along the way.
"Hey Twilight, I just got done practicing magic. What's going on?" Starlight asked happily.
"Oh these are just photos we took and we can't wait to put them in our scrapbook." Twilight said in excitement.
"I didn't know you had a scrapbook." Starlight said gleefully.
"Oh yeah it's in the castle library I'll show it to you." Twilight said gesturing Starlight to the library.
Spike then felt his nose tickle he was beginning to feel like he was gonna sneeze he tried to hold it but he sneezed fire onto the book.
Spike then saw as all the pages were reduced to ashes.
“Oh no, not again, oh I hope Twilight does not get mad at me.” Spike says scared.
“Oh she is.” Twilight said as she glared at Spike while Starlight and the Mane 5 just looked worried for the dragon.
“I was just about to show Starlight all of our memories together but you had to burn the book.” Twilight angrily said.
“Twilight please I know what it looks like-“ Spike began pleading but Twilight cut him off.
“I can’t believe you, all of my memories with my friends were in there, you know how much that meant to me and you RUINED IT!” Twilight yelled at Spike.
“Twilight please I-“ Spike pleads but Twilight wouldn’t listen to him.
“Save it." Twilight held a hoof up,
Starlight then had enough of this and tried to stop this.
“Twilight stop he feels bad enough as it is.” Starlight commanded in a concerned tone.
“Stay out of this Starlight.” Twilight commanded angrily.
“Out of all the times I had to put up with your nonsense this is the worst thing you’ve ever done.” Twilight said.
“What do you mean?” Spike asked with tears.
“How about making a mess in Applejack's farm for example.” Twilight explained.
"Wait I never meant to do that." Spike defended himself.
"It's true Twi he was just tryin' to help." Applejack spoke to defend the dragon but Twilight ignored her.
Twilight continued “You’re kinda egotistical at times which is even more annoying than Dash at times."
"Hey." Rainbow Dash said angrily.
"That's not fair we all have egos." Spike defended himself.
“You caused a misunderstanding with Thorax and Ember and acted like a bad friend.” Twilight glared making Spike whimper before he himself got angry.
"I am not a bad friend." Spike said angrily making Twilight get madder at the dragon.
“Oh really well you turned into a monster and attacked Ponyville.” Twilight shouted.
"Not fair I had no control." Spike shouted out.
"He's right he didn't." Rarity tried to defend the dragon but Twilight again would not listen.
“And you destroyed our book.” Twilight said.
"You know if you were my friend you'd understand that it was an accident, but I guess maybe doing that is too much for you as you freak out over every little thing." Spike bursted out angrily.
"Spike that's a bit too harsh." Fluttershy spoke out meekly.
“I don’t care, Twilight is acting like every single Canterlot snob I’ve ever met and when she decides to act like my friend again I’ll stop this.” Spike shouted out.
“Well you’re much more trouble then you’re worth maybe I never should’ve hatched you from that egg.” Twilight yelled out before she realized what she said.
The Mane 5 and Starlight looked at Twilight in shock and anger.
Spike began crying now he had done it, he made his best friend too angry with him, maybe he was a nuisance.
“Oh Spike I didn’t-“ Twilight began with remorse before Spike stopped her.
“Save it, I need to be alone I’m sorry I caused so much trouble.” Spike said before flying to his room.
Starlight then glared at the alicorn “You happy now Twilight, you just made Spike cry and feel useless. I hope you’re satisfied.” before walking away in anger.
Twilight then begins crying "What have I done?" she said in tears.
"Twilight that was a bit harsh darling." Rarity comforted.
"I'll say you made Spike cry." Pinkie Pie said.
"I know and I'm sorry but it's best I stay away from him for now." Twilight admitted.
Spike is seen crying in his room, he then begins thinking.
Twilight’s right I’m too much trouble. Spike thought.
Spike then looked at his window and came up with an idea.
“I need to leave, it’s for the best.” Spike said in tears.
Spike then wrote a note and then put it on his bed.
Spike then flew out of the window and went off to the Everfree Forest where no pony would find him.
Starlight then knocked on the door.
“Spike you in there buddy?” Starlight asked comfortingly. No reply came.
“Spike, I know what Twilight said was bad but I’m sure she didn’t mean it. Maybe if you two have a talk you can sort it out.” Starlight reassured but she still heard nothing.
“I am respecting your privacy but as your magical unicorn friend I’m coming in anyway.” Starlight said in a playful tone.
Starlight then teleported into Spike’s room and saw a note on the bed.
To whom it may concern
I, Spike the Dragon have run away, Twilight was right about me I am too much trouble and I don’t wanna ruin her life anymore, so I left, and I’m not coming back ever so don’t even try looking for me. Twilight if you are reading this I am sorry I was such a nuisance but now you no longer have to put up with me.
Starlight was then super worried and called out Twilight’s name.
“Twilight!” Starlight cried out running to the castle library.
Meanwhile the Mane 5 were still in the library comforting Twilight
“Twilight, Spike he-“ Starlight began before Rainbow Dash glared at Starlight and flew up to her angrily.
“Leave her alone you jerk you already made her feel bad about herself she doesn’t need anymore bad news.” Rainbow Dash yelled.
“I’m sorry but I need to tell her something.” Starlight apologized.
“Hear her out sugarcube.” Applejack told Rainbow Dash calmly.
“Fine but this better be important.” Rainbow Dash glared.
“Okay Spike wrote this note, he ran away.” Starlight explained.
Twilight then read the note and began crying again.
“What have I done? Spike left and it’s all my fault why did I treat him so terribly why why?!” Twilight said in tears.
“Twilight he couldn’t have gone far we’ll find him.” Fluttershy said comfortingly.
“Maybe you’re right Fluttershy, but how will I ever forgive myself for what I’ve done?” Twilight asked crying.
“Spike will forgive you trust us he loves you.” Starlight said hugging Twilight who hugged back.
“I’ll ask Discord if he can help, but he might not be happy.” Fluttershy admitted meekly.
“I can deal with Discord getting mad at me, I deserve it.” Twilight admitted sadly.
“Twilight this is getting out of hand we have to alert Celestia.” Starlight said concerned.
“What? No she’ll hate me, and she’ll take Spike away from me forever.” Twilight said in a frantic tone.
“Twilight, Celestia wouldn’t do that to you, she knows how much you love Spike.” Starlight comforted.
“Sigh you’re right, I’ll write a letter asking her to meet here.” Twilight stated.
“That’s the spirit Twilight.” Starlight said happily.
“I’ll go get Discord.” Fluttershy said flying out of the window.
Fluttershy then went to the Chaos Realm and opened up the door to Discord’s house who was happy to see his friend.
“Oh Fluttershy how nice to see you again.” Discord said happily.
“Nice to see you too Discord, but I have something to tell you, you know Spike right?” Fluttershy asked timidly.
“Oh yes we’re pretty close, why do you ask?” Discord asked curiously.
“Gulp, he ran away from Ponyville.” Fluttershy explained.
“What? Why would he do that he loves that place?” Discord asked concerned.
“Twilight and him had a fight because he accidentally destroyed her scrapbook, and she said she never should’ve hatched him from his egg and now he’s gone.” Fluttershy said with tears.
Discord’s mouth was agape but he was also furious at what he heard Twilight had just made his friend feel like shit and all because of one mistake.
“Oh don’t worry Fluttershy I will help find him, but I might need to have a talk with Twilight.” Discord said darkly.
“Discord you’re not gonna hurt her are you?” Fluttershy asked worriedly.
“No but I will be telling her the extent of her actions.” Discord said before teleporting him and Fluttershy to Ponyville.
Twilight has been pacing around the map table for a while now, while Starlight, Applejack, Rarity, Pinkie Pie, and Rainbow Dash wanted to calm her down they knew she had to think about what has been happening.
They then saw a flash of light and were surprised to see Discord glaring at Twilight.
“Hey Discord.” Twilight said nervously.
“Twilight, care to explain something?” Discord asked angrily.
“I guess you heard didn’t you?” Twilight asked nervous at what Discord was implying.
“Yes I did, and I know what you said to Spike, about how you shouldn’t have hatched him out of his egg and over a stupid fight and an accident. That’s low princess you’ve forgiven worse, Starlight, Trixie, Sunset, and even ME.” Discord glared at the alicorn.
“I know and I’m sorry we’re going to find him and I miss him and I just want Spike back.” Twilight said in tears.
Discord’s glare softened as he realized that Twilight really felt bad for her actions.
“Listen Twilight I know you didn’t mean it but you need to realize that what you said was horrible.” Discord said softly.
“I figured that out a while ago, and I just alerted the princesses and Shining Armor.” Twilight admitted.
Just then the three princesses and Shining Armor appeared.
“Sis we heard about Spike, we’re so sorry.” Shining Armor said worried for his sister.
“We also are very disappointed in you Twilight, you have basically made Spike feel worthless and if you don’t fix this will have a grave consequences on Spike’s psyche.” Luna said in disappointment.
“Please Luna it’s hard enough for her as it is, Twilight has already learned her lesson.” Celestia said putting a wing on Luna’s back.
“Sister she said she never should have hatched Spike from that egg this cannot be ignored as if it is nothing.” Luna argues incredulously.
“But pressing it on will only make it worse.” Celestia advises “We will discuss the issue later.”
“Fine I will stop talking about it.” Luna exclaimed.
For now. Luna thought to herself.
“Then we must press onward Twilight we shall search for Spike together.” Celestia said.
“Thank you Celestia, thank you.” Twilight said with tears of joy.
Spike began to go through the Everfree Forest in sadness. He reflected about everything and all his friends.
He would miss Big Mac and Discord a lot and the Guy Nights they once shared. They were the best friends a dragon could ask for but they’d find another friend after all what is an 18 year old dragon who can’t even hit his first growth spurt compared to a fully grown stallion.
He would miss Starlight Glimmer as well, next to Twilight she was always his best friend but she has Trixie, Sunburst, and Maud, much better friends than him she wouldn’t miss him.
He would also miss Pinkie Pie, Fluttershy, Rarity, Rainbow Dash, and Applejack as well, especially Rarity but those five probably didn’t need him they’ve got Starlight to replace him, so what does it matter?
And finally Twilight his big sister figure oh he’s miss her the most, as she was his bestest friend ever, but now she hates him he was useless to her he still remembered the hateful words said to him.
Maybe I should’ve never hatched you from that egg.
Spike cried at the thoughts that plagued him.
Meanwhile there was a unicorn that was sneering, smirking at the broken hearted dragon, he would be the perfect key in taking over Equestria.
The pony behind the tree chuckled this brokenhearted dragon would be the key to victory.
"Well if it isn't a little dragon, what are you doing all alone?" the pony said comfortingly.
"Who are you?" Spike asked in tears.
The pony knew he was easy prey due to his broken heart his vulnerability was clear.
"I am Sparky, and of course I know who you are Spike the Brave and Glorious." the pony bowed.
"You really think of me as Spike the Brave and Glorious?" Spike asked happily.
"Of course doesn't Twilight think of you that way?" Sparky asked already knowing the answer due to hearing the fight between Spike and Twilight using his magic.
"Well no she even thought that she never should've hatched me from my egg." Spike said in tears.
"There, there it's not your fault, she doesn't deserve such a nice creature like you." Sparky said comfortingly smirking as the dragon was starting to trust him.
"Thank you I really appreciate it." Spike said happily.
The dark unicorn smirked at the dragon before tying Spike up with magic and carried him to his lair.
"Hey what gives, let me go." Spike struggled hopelessly.
"No can do, little Spike you will be very useful to my plans." Sparky smirked.
Everyone headed back to the castle and were worried about Spike.
“I still can’t find Spike, I’m so scared.” Twilight said with tears.
“Twilight it’ll be okay we will find him at one point.” Starlight comforted patting Twilight in the back.
“What if we don’t what if we aren’t able to find Spike?” Twilight asked in fear.
“Oh I don’t think you’ll need to worry about that.” A voice from above said.
They then saw a dark unicorn levitating from above with his horn and were at awe.
“Who are you identify yourself stranger.” Luna bellowed angrily at the unicorn.
“I am Sparky and I believe this belongs to you.” Sparky said projecting an image of Spike being tied up.
“Spike!” Twilight shouted out.
“What did you do to Spike you vile monster.” Celestia commanded glaring at Sparky.
“Oh calm yourselves he’s fine for now, and if we want that to continue you will give me leadership of Equestria.” Sparky smirked wickedly. “And before you say never, I will free Spike and leave him unharmed if you do but if you don’t I’m afraid we will have say goodbye to poor Spikey-Wikey.”
“Don’t you dare do anything to Spike you monster.” Twilight said trying to blast the dark unicorn only for him to dodge and blast Discord right in the chest.
“Ow.” Discord groaned in pain “That actually hurt me.”
“Gasp Discord.” Fluttershy cried out flying to his aid.
“I’ll let that little mishap slide for now but I’ll give you three days to decide the fate of little Spike.” Sparky said before teleporting away laughing maniacally.
“Oh no Celestia what do we do?” Twilight asks scared.
“I do not know Twilight but for now we must think about what Sparky has told us.” Celestia explains.
“Sister thou is not seriously considering allowing Sparky to rule Equestria.” Luna says baffled at what Celestia was considering. “We need to fight this vile creature.”
“I am afraid I am considering it, Sparky took down Discord so fighting seems like a bad idea but I fear Equestria will suffer at his hooves if we follow his demands.” Celestia said in fear.
“And if we don’t follow his demands Spike could be at grave peril.” Starlight admits fearfully.
“Great, thanks to Spike Equestria could be in danger.” Rainbow Dash rolls her eyes before receiving a slap from Applejack.
“Oops sorry my hoof slipped.” Applejack said sarcastically.
“It isn’t Spike’s fault Sparky is the one who kidnapped him and I let him feel unwanted, Spike is blameless.” Twilight said defending the dragon.
“Okay I was acting out of anger I’m sorry.” Rainbow Dash apologizes.
“It’s okay Rainbow Dash, but now we have to figure out how we can save Spike and Equestria.” Twilight said.
Spike was in his chains struggling to get out while his kidnapper showed up.
“What do you want?” Spike asked angrily.
“Temper little Spike I only want to tell you what’s in store for you.” Sparky mockingly replied.
“Well what is it, I already feel like crap.” Spike sighed out.
“Well you see I conversed with Celestia and Twilight and you will return to them unharmed IF I get the throne of Equestria.” Sparky maniacally laughed.
“They’ll never agree to that.” Spike said in defiance “Twilight hates me.”
“Oh Spike you could not be anymore wrong she does care about you. She even tried to blast me for even threatening your life.” Sparky replies with sadistic glee.
“What so she did care.” Spike said sadly “And I left her.”
Sparky smirked at the little dragon’s suffering “Yes she did, you ran away over a stupid fight what a moron you are.”
Spike then began crying, Sparky was right how could he let this fight between him and Twilight lead to this now Equestria was doomed because of him.
Sparky was at his den gathering wood, and made some potions. He didn’t trust those ponies so he figured he might need a backup plan in case they tried anything.
Meanwhile the Mane 6, Starlight, the princesses, Shining Armor and Discord were all at Celestia and Luna’s damaged castle at Canterlot.
“Are you sure this plan will work Twilight?” Starlight asked worried.
“For Spike’s and Equestria’s sake it better.” Twilight said motivated.
Soon a knock on the castle door was heard and Twilight began speaking “Everyone to your positions.” as everyone but Twilight, Celestia, Luna, and Cadence began hiding.
Sparky then walked in with Spike being carried by his magical aura in chains.
Twilight glared at the sight, she despised seeing Spike suffer.
“So princesses have you come to a decision, remember this is your final warning or the dragon gets it.” Sparky said with a smirk.
“Yeah we did.” Twilight then stomps her hoof confusing Sparky.
Rainbow Dash flew from the ceiling and punched Sparky in the face making him drop Spike.
Before he could react Starlight grabbed the dragon with her magic and released him from his chains.
Spike then hid behind Starlight in fear.
The princesses all glared their horns at Sparky.
“Game over Sparky.” Celestia spoke bitterly.
Sparky began laughing maniacally scaring everyone.
“Oh you think this is over this is only the beginning.” Sparky said he then used his horn and a bunch of wood appeared and he merged them to create a bunch of Timberwolves. “Timberwolves attack.”
The Timberwolves began attacking the princesses, Celestia, Luna, Cadence, and Twilight began fighting with their magic.
Discord and Shining Armor then showed up out of their hiding spots and attacked Sparky from behind when he wasn’t looking and Shining Armor put a horn cap on him making Sparky unable to use magic.
The Timberwolves kept attacking anyway, soon the Mane 5 joined in and tried fighting off the Timberwolves but it wasn’t enough even with Discord’s help it was proving to be a challenge to defeat them.
“We gotta do something?” Starlight proclaimed worried.
“Wait I know.” Spike smiles.
Soon the Timberwolves began surrounding the ponies and draconequus and all seemed lost until a fire blast burned one of the Timberwolves butt.
Spike then waved from behind as he began flying around the Timberwolves as they began attacking him.
Spike began dodging these attacks as Starlight kept blasting the Timberwolves.
Soon the Timberwolves began attacking Spike, they slashed him with their claws causing blood to drip out, and he was beginning to breath heavily this began to concern everyone.
“Oh no Spike’s bleeding.” Starlight said worried.
“Well that’s what you get for not following my deal.” Sparky smirked evilly as Shining Armor was busy tackling him.
Spike then breathed an enormous batch of fire burning the Timberwolves to the ground and turning them into ash. Spike soon fell to the ground exhausted.
“Spike!” Twilight ran up to the dragon, the rest of the Mane 6 ran up to him as well, along with Starlight and the princesses.
“Shining Armor, take Sparky to the the underground prison under the castle.” Celestia ordered “And make sure he is heavily guarded.”
“Can do.” Shining Armor saluted as he began to lead Sparky to the prison by grabbing him with his magic.
“Spike, please don’t leave me.” Twilight begged the dragon.
Spike coughed up some blood.
“Twilight I’m sorry I ran away. I was dumb.” Spike apologized in remorse.
“Spike you were not dumb, what I did was wrong too, I never should’ve yelled at you like that I’m so sorry I said I never should’ve hatched you from that egg, hatching you was the best day of my life because I got you as a friend or should I say brother.” Twilight apologized.
“Twilight this is touching and all but we should get him to a hospital.” Starlight said worried.
“Of course, I have to go, please make sure Sparky stays locked up.” Twilight said using with her magic and teleported her, to the entrance to the Ponyville hospital.
Twilight then ran in the hospital.
“I need to get Spike inside the hospital bed right now.” Twilight said in worry.
The nurse pony nodded and quickly carried Spike with her magic and Twilight was told to sit in the waiting room, she only hoped Spike would survive.
Spike was seen waking up with Twilight next to him.
“Twilight.” Spike groaned.
“Spike, you’re awake, the doctors said it’ll take a while for you to heal but you will live.” Twilight informed him.
“That’s good, so... should we talk?” Spike asked.
“Yeah we probably should.” Twilight sighed.
“Look Twilight, I’m sorry I burned your book full of memories, it was an accident.” Spike apologized.
“I know, and Spike I’m sorry for saying I never should’ve hatched you. I have no excuse.” Twilight said.
“You’re right about that, but I should’ve talked things out with you instead of running away.” Spike replies.
“And I should’ve controlled my anger.” Twilight said.
“From now on let’s try and fix our problems, agreed?” Spike asked holding out his claw.
“Agreed.” Twilight said shaking Spike’s claw with her hoof.
Celestia then walked into the hospital room.
“Celestia, I think I know why you’re here. I made Spike run away, so what punishment do you have in mind?” Twilight said sighing.
“You will not be getting punished Twilight Sparkle, yes what you said was wrong but we all know you did not truly mean what you said to Spike. Everyone says something they don’t mean, but one should try and fix their mistakes which is exactly what you did.” Celestia replies.
“So how come you’re here?” Spike asked.
“I was just going to tell you Sparky won’t be bothering us, anytime soon.” Celestia explained “Plus you have some friends who want to see you.”
Celestia then pointed to the door which was opened to see the rest of the Mane 6, Shining Armor, Cadence, Luna, Starlight, and Discord.
“We’re so glad to see you’re okay Spike.” Starlight said happily.
“I’ll say, we were really worried about you sugarcube.” Applejack said relieved.
“Thanks guys, and I’m sorry I made you all worry about me.” Spike apologized.
“It’s okay Spikey Wikey. You didn’t mean to.” Rarity replies.
“Yeah we’re just glad to see you again. After this I am throwing a ‘Yay Spike is better again party’” Pinkie Pie said.
“Oh Pinkie.” Spike sighed content.
After a while Spike was able to walk again but he still had to wear bandages.
Twilight has been seeing Starlight and Luna about her anger problem as she was worried that she’ll say something she might regret next time she gets mad and wants to fix her anger issues before she rules Equestria.
Sparky had been in jail with a magic inhibitor ring, he was in there plotting revenge which would never come due to the fact he was heavily guarded and that he had no magic.
Spike and Starlight went on to make a new memory book(which was fire proof thanks to Discord) for Twilight, it included memories of all her friends and even Discord pitched in with his own memories.
In the end Twilight went on to rule Equestria and her and Spike’s bond was stronger than ever.
