Thanks to her change of heart inside the statue, Chrysalis was released from her statue prison. But Chrysalis feels doubtful if she will be forgiven by others after everything she has done to Equestria.
Thanks to Chrysalis' change of heart inside the statue, Chrysalis was released from her statue prison. Twilight is surprised and happy to see Chrysalis reformed. As Twilight begins to fall in love with Chrysalis, the former Queen of Changelings needs to get used to the new life in Equestria and try to win the forgiveness of the ponies and her former subjects.
In the garden of Canterlot Castle, there was a statue that had been there for a long time, everypony who visited would probably remember the trio of villains. Of all the villains who tried to dominate Equestria, for them, the trio were the most evil, in the view of the ponies. But just because it was about twenty years ago, that didn’t mean that the ponies didn’t remember what this trio did to Equestria. To this day, ponies remember what Chrysalis, Cozy Glow and Tirek did. But now that the trio was nothing but a statue, the ponies were calmer, because Equestria now had no more villains. The Legion of Doom had three different poses: Gozy Glow had an expression of fear while having the two front hooves on her face, Tirek had his eyes closed and gritted his teeth, and Chrysalis had an angry expression while making an attack position.
Years ago, Twilight Sparkle went for a walk in the castle garden. She was saddened that she had failed to reform Chrysalis and that she had not prevented Queen Changeling’s petrification. But whenever Twilight promised herself that around Spike, her friends, her student and her subjects, she would smile, but whenever she was alone in her room, she would cry.
In the garden, the statue remained the same as always. But suddenly, statue-shaped Chrysalis started to glow white and started to break. An explosion occurred and Chrysalis fell to the floor on her stomach. Her shape was’t the same as before after she was petrified. Her fur was white and her mane was light blue angelic.
“Did I… have I been released from my statue prison?” Chrysalis got up on the floor, still confused. “But how?”
Chrysalis looked back to where she was and realized that Cozy Glow and Tirek were still petrified. She was even more confused. Who freed her? Was it the princesses Celestia and Luna? Was it the Elements of Harmony? Or was it Twilight itself? Whether or not it was one of those options, she needed to know.
Twilight Sparkle was on her throne with Spike. Twilight was already an adult alicorn and Spike, an adult dragon. Spike wore a golden medallion and Twilight Sparkle, a golden perk and a golden crown with the design of a pink six-pointed star. Twilight argued about politics and was smiling. She could be happy on the outside, but on the inside, she was sad.
The pony in the room, smiled and bowed. “Thank you very much, Princess Twilight. Your gratitude will always be appreciated by me.”
“It’s a pleasure to help you, Twisted Candy,” said Twilight Sparkle with a smile.
The pony left the room happily. When the doors to the throne room closed. Twilight’s happy expression changed to a sad one. She was struggling not to cry. Especially with Spike at her side.
No... Not in front of Spike...
The tears were trying to get to the cheek, but Twilight went faster and wiped the tears away with a hoof. She blew out a sad breath.
“Twilight, is everything okay?” asked Spike as he looked at Twilight Sparkle.
Twilight looked at Spike with a smile. “Yes, Spike. Don’t worry.”
Spike didn’t seem to accept that. “Are you sure, Twilight? I’m sure I hear you sigh.”
“Spike, you don’t have to worry about me, okay? I’m just thinking about my future that I have now.” lied Twilight Sparkle with a smile.
Spike was about to speak until Gallus opened the door and ran over to them. “Princess! Princess! Is it urgent!”
Twilight looked at Gallus worriedly. “What happened, Gallus?”
“It’s Chrysalis! She was released from her statue prison!” exclaimed Gallus, startled.
Twilight Sparkle was scared on the outside but happy on the inside. Scared of not knowing how Chrysalis was freed and happy because maybe Chrysalis was freed by somepony. But now she was in doubt. Who released Chrysalis? Did the ex-queen of the Changelings herself manage to break free through a spell? But that would be impossible. Chrysalis couldn’t use her magic while she was petrified, could she? Now she was confused.
“Twilight? Are you alright?” Gallus asked when he noticed the look of possible concern.
Twilight Sparkle came out of the shock and smiled nervously. “Yes, Gallus. I am fine.”
“Princess, we need to surround the entire castle with royal guards,” replied Gallus.
“But, Gallus. What if she regretted her actions? I’m sure she regretted it and that we don’t need to surround the castle with royal guards,” said Twilight Sparkle hopefully.
Gallus and Spike were surprised by what Twilight said. “But, princess. Chrysalis was part of the Legion of Doom. She will try to attack Equestria again,” said Gallus desperately.
“Trust me, Gallus. I’m sure of it.” Twilight Sparkle smiled.
Chrysalis was already inside the castle looking for Celestia and Luna for answers. She just hoped the princesses won’t stay without being irritated by the fact that she was released from her prison. But inside, she knew that the princesses wouldn’t be happy at all that Chrysalis was released from her statue prison. She was very evil to everypony and was blind with hate in the past.
Suddenly, she heard footsteps, she looked back and saw royal guards with spears running after her. Chrysalis gave no time and started to run to what she believed to be the throne room. Until Chrysalis saw a door close. The former Queen of Changelings smiled, she was hoping it would be the throne room. She stopped running to open the door with her magic before entering. Upon entering, she turned on her back to hoof the door.
“Chrysalis?”
Chrysalis’ ears cheered when she heard Twilight’s voice. She slowly turned her head in fear and what she saw, shocked her. Twilight was an adult alicorn and Spike, an adult dragon. Twilight approached in surprise at what she was seeing. “Chrysalis, have you ever looked in the mirror?”
“No. Why?” wanted to know Chrysalis, now no longer in shock.
“I believe you were reformed, Chrysalis,” replied Twilight Sparkle with a smile before bringing up a large mirror of Chrysalis’ height.
Chrysalis was surprised to see herself in the mirror. “How did I get like this?”
Twilight Sparkle started to think about the events. Twilight remembered when she had just been appointed ruler of Equestria, she went to the statues’ garden to mourn her failure in failing to reform Chrysalis. She didn’t know if Chrysalis heard her, but Twilight needed to know. “Did you hear me talking about you when I was in the castle garden?”
“Yes, Twilight. I heard that, and I couldn’t feel anything but sadness to see you cry,”replied Chrysalis, now sad and with a hoof in her chest.
“You know, Chrysalis. I didn’t have sure if you were listening to me,” said Twilight Sparkle, before smiling. “But I’m happy that you reformed when you were a statue. That means you have become a better changeling.”
Chrysalis smiled at the last sentence. Chrysalis didn’t imagine the pony she considered her enemy, it was happy with her.
Footsteps were heard and the door opened. The guards went to Chrysalis with spears. “Stay still, Chrysalis! If you move, we will launch these spears at you!” Chrysalis was paralyzed with fear.
Twilight Sparkle, noticing this, went to the guards. “It’s okay, guards. She’s good now. All of you can stay calm.”
The guards looked at themselves before looking back at Twilight. “Are you sure, princess?”
Twilight Sparkle closed her eyes before nodding and opening them again. “Yes. You can trust me. Return to your posts, please.”
The guards looked at themselves again before smiling. “Your orders, your majesty.”
Chrysalis was calmer and relieved. At least the Twilight royal guards already believed in her. Now the ponies only needed to believe her.
The guards came out and left Twilight, Chrysalis and Spike alone in the throne room. Twilight turned her back and went over to Chrysalis. “Well, Chrysalis. I’m sure Thorax will be surprised to see you’re reformed and he will accept you to continue to be the queen of the Changelings.”
Chrysalis seemed uncertain about that. “Twilight, I don’t want to be the queen of Changelings anymore.”
Twilight Sparkle was surprised by what Chrysalis said. “But why not?”
“It’s just that after everything I’ve done, I don’t think I deserve that title,” replied Chrysalis, now sad.
“Chrysalis, I’m sure they will forgive you.” assured Twilight Sparkle with a smile.
“No, Twilight. Thorax proved his worth. He’s better than me when it comes to taking care of the Changelings and I would feel horrible if I took that away from him,” said Chrysalis.
“You don’t even want to warn them?” asked Twilight Sparkle.
“No, Twilight. It is better that they don’t even know that I am no longer a statue,” replied Chrysalis.
“Chrysalis, if that makes you feel better, I can go with you to the hive that the Changelings live in so you can go and talk to the Changelings and Thorax,” said Twilight Sparkle.
Chrysalis was surprised. “Really, Twilight? Would you go with me to the hive?”
“Sure, Chrysalis. After all, we’re friends now, aren’t we?” said Twilight Sparkle, now with a hoof on the Chrysalis tourniquet.
Chrysalis was surprised when Twilight Sparkle said, “friend”. She never thought Twilight would consider her a friend. “I dont understand. Why do you see me as your friend?”
“Because I know you have changed. I can feel it in you. I know you’re sorry for what you did,” replied Twilight Sparkle, before looking at Spike. “What about you, Spike?”
“I am friends with Thorax and since I met him, I realized that he wasn’t evil. It took a while for others to believe that a Changeling could change,” replied Spike. “But I managed to convince them with a song and if I already saw Thorax as a friend, I see no reason why I shouldn’t see you as a friend too.”
Chrysalis never expected a dragon to befriend a Changeling and succeed in convincing the ponies that a Changeling could change. But she knew that if it weren’t for Spike, Thorax wouldn’t have met Starlight, Discord and Trixie to save Equestria from her and the unreformed changeling. But despite that, she still felt guilty about everything she did as the queen of the Changelings and didn’t know if the ponies would want to forgive her. She had a sad look.
Twilight Sparkle noticed the sadness in Chrysalis and was concerned. “Chrysalis? What happened?”
Chrysalis looked at Twilight Sparkle, still sad. “I feel guilty about everything I did as the queen of changelings. I don’t even know if the ponies will forgive me after everything I did to Equestria.”
“Don’t be sad, Chrysalis. They will see that their shape has changed.” guaranteed Twilight Sparkle.
“But what if they are mad at me?” asked Chrysalis.
“They won’t be mad at you,” smiled Twilight Sparkle. “Now with me ruling Equestria, ponies and creatures are more united than before.”
Chrysalis smiled. She didn’t know that with Twilight in charge, things would be better for others. But something left her in doubt.
“Where are Princess Celestia and Princess Luna?” she asked.
Chrysalis was surprised and gaping. “But why did they retire?”
Twilight Sparkle tried to come up with an answer. “I think it was because they believed that I would be a better ruler for Equestria.”
“But will they find out that I was released from my stone prison?” Chrysalis asked, afraid she would be petrified again even though she was reformed.
“No. Unless they come to visit me,” replied Twilight Sparkle. “But it’s been a few years and they haven’t even visited me since I was crowned the new ruler of Equestria. So I don’t think they will come to visit me.”
Chrysalis looked a little more relieved. At least Celestia and Luna wouldn’t know that she was freed from the stone prison.
“Chrysalis, I just don’t understand one thing,” began Twilight Sparkle. “How did you break free from the statue prison?”
“While I was a statue, I saw you crying and I felt very sorry for you. I believe that as I showed and shared love to somepony, my shape gradually changed and when my shape had completely changed, the spell was lifted and I was released,” replied Chrysalis.
Twilight Sparkle was surprised. “You heard me lament about you being petrified?”
Chrysalis agreed. “Yes. I never imagined that my ex-enemy would be like this after petrification.”
Twilight Sparkle smiled. “Well, at least when you were petrified, you managed to hear me. It means that even if you were a statue, that didn’t stop you from hearing things.”
“Yes. But I wonder what made me break free from the statue,” Chrysalis was uncertain. “And will Cozy and Tirek be released from their statue prison just like me?”
“You were released because you showed forgiveness. It took a few years for you to be released, but at least now you’re no longer a statue,” replied Twilight Sparkle. Chrysalis smiled. “Now, I don’t know if Cozy Glow and Tirek will be released from statue prison anytime soon, as they don’t seem to have shown forgiveness for what they did, at least for now.”
Chrysalis’s smile fell. She felt sorry for both of them. But she decided to change the subject of the conversation. “How were your days as ruler of Equestria?”
“They were good. Now, I have a student named Luster Dawn,” replied Twilight Sparkle.
“Where does she live, Twilight?” asked Chrysalis as she was curious.
“She lived in Canterlot before, but she recently moved to Ponyville to learn about friendship.”
“How many days has she been living in Ponyville?”
“It’s been about two days.”
“Twilight,” Twilight heard Spike’s voice, looked back and saw Spike approaching her and Chrysalis. “Twilight, is that true? Is it true that you were sad because of the Chrysalis petrification?”
Twilight Sparkle looked at the floor guiltily. “Yes, Spike. Since she was petrified, I felt sorry and sad for her.”
“But why didn’t you tell me how you felt?” asked Spike as he was confused.
“Because I was afraid that if I told you, you would think what I felt was childish, since I was feeling sorry for Chrysalis,” replied Twilight Sparkle as she looked at the floor. Chrysalis looked sad at Twilight.
“But Twilight, if I made friends with Thorax, it was because I believed that changeling can change. If you believed that Chrysalis could change, I wouldn’t be mad at you, as that would be hypocritical on my part.”
Twilight Sparkle still had a sad look and she look at Spike. “So, you’re not mad at me for hiding something from you?”
Spike smiled as he hugged Twilight Sparkle. “Of course not, Twilight.”
Twilight Sparkle smiled and returned the hug. “Thanks, Spike,” Chrysalis just watched the scene with a smile.
Chrysalis approached Twilight Sparkle. “Twilight, can I stay with you and Spike in the castle?”
Twilight Sparkle and Spike looked at Chrysalis with a smile. “Of course you can,” she replied.
It was already dark, and Chrysalis couldn’t help noticing that the castle’s colors and decorations were quite different than the last time she invaded Canterlot with her ex-subjects. She wondered if it was Twilight who changed, or whether it was the princesses or one of Twilight’s friends. She left the castle and went to the garden. Even though she was happy living with Twilight in the castle, she wondered what she was going to do when Twilight was busy. Should she stay with Twilight in the throne room or should she stay somewhere in the castle or maybe in the garden? She really didn’t know.
She saw the statue of Cozy Glow and Tirek and approached it. She sat on her hips and watched them both. She felt sorry for them. Since they, with the exception of Chrysalis, remained statues. She wondered if they would ever show signs of forgiveness and be released from the prison of a statue like her.
She started to remember when the powers they absorbed with the bell had been taken away from them. Celestia and Luna didn’t know what they were going to do with her and the two, since the three caused the separation of the ponies and creature, resulting in Windigos even appearing due to the hatred that occurred between the races. But later, the ponies and creatures did made up and came together to defeat the Legion of Doom. Discord had suggested that the three be petrified, the two agreed and together with Discord, they used a petrification spell. The trio struggled not to be petrified, but their efforts were in vain and were petrified in different positions.
Chrysalis began to remember when Starlight had offered her hoof in friendship. And did she accept? No. Because she was blind with hate. Her ears went down as she looked to the side. She felt guilty for having felt hatred. If she had accepted Starlight’ friendship, she wouldn’t have been petrified for twenty years. She was about to close her eyes, but a voice stopped her.
“Chrysalis!”
Chrysalis’ ears perked up. She looked back and saw Gallus. “Come, Chrysalis. The dinner is ready.”
“I’m already going.” said Chrysalis.
When Gallus left, she looked at the petrified pair one last time before leaving the statuary garden.
Twilight and Spike were sitting at the dinner table, eating soup. She looked at the door as she wondered where Chrysalis was. Did Chrysalis decide to read in the library after they met in the throne room? She only hoped that Chrysalis was’t lost in the castle, since the castle was’t the same as before. Just imagining Chrysalis lost in the castle made her worried.
Twilight heard the sound of a door opening and saw Chrysalis at the door, looking at her. She smiled. “Chrysalis! You managed to find the dining room! Did you get lost? ”
“To tell you the truth, I did get lost. I was unable to find the dining room,” replied Chrysalis. “But Gallus came to me and asked if I was lost. I said yes and asked if he could guide me here. He did it with great pleasure. ”
Twilight Sparkle’s smile fell as she was confused. “But I’m not seeing Gallus with you.”
“It’s because he left as soon as we got very close to the door, Twilight.” explained Chrysalis with a smile.
Twilight returned to smile. “Makes sense.”
Chrysalis approached the table and sat next to Twilight. Although Chrysalis is happy with Twilight and is no longer petrified, she still felt guilty and wondered if her ponies and ex-subjects would forgive her.
Twilight noticed that Chrysalis didn’t even start eating the soup. She was worried. “Chrysalis? It’s all right?”
Chrysalis looked at Twilight Sparkle, still sad. “No. It is not alright.”
“What happened?” asked Twilight Sparkle as she was worried.
Chrysalis looked away, now uncertain. Should she tell?
Twilight, noting Chrysalis’ uncertainty, said, “Come on, Chrysalis. You don’t have to hide your feelings from me. I know something is bothering you.”
Chrysalis managed to smile a little and gain a little confidence with the comforting words of Twilight. “I’m feeling guilty about everything bad I did because of my hatred, Twilight.”
Twilight hugged Chrysalis with a wing. Twilight’s wing was very soft. “Is there anything else that bothers you?”
“Yes. I feel guilty for not accepting Starlight’s friendship offer,” replied Chrysalis. “If I had accepted, I wouldn’t have been petrified for twenty years.”
Twilight felt sorry for Chrysalis. Chrysalis continued. “If I hadn’t been so blinded by hate, none of this would have happened. I wouldn’t have come to you, Starlight and your friends in order to disguise myself as a photographer in order to take a picture of you and your friends and get a mane of hair in the interior In order to make evil clones of you and your friends to avenge me, I wouldn’t have joined ‘Grogar’ and wouldn’t try to dominate Equestria with Discord’s powers.”
Twilight Sparkle was confused by the second sentence. Chrysalis said clones of evil? “Wait. Did you disguise yourself as a photographer, take pictures of us and take a strand of mane from each of us to make clones of evil?”
“Yes. I said,” replied Chrysalis, now confused. “Didn’t you notice from the beginning that they were clones of evil?”
“No. I thought it was my true friends, but only with opposite behaviors and darker colors,” replied Twilight Sparkle. “I never imagined that you were planning your revenge when my friends and I were planning to make a camp near the Tree of Harmony.”
Chrysalis was unsure. “So you mean you’re mad at me and I won’t be able to stay at the castle anymore?”
Twilight Sparkle was surprised by the question. “What? No. I’m not mad at you. Just a little surprised.”
Chrysalis was relieved. But something came to her mind. “Where am I going to sleep?”
“You could sleep in the room with me,” replied Twilight Sparkle.
Chrysalis didn’t know why, but it made her blush. “I-in the room with you? But is the bed big enough for both of us?”
“Yes, Chrysalis. After we eat I will show you.” Twilight Sparkle returned to eating. Although Chrysalis still looks a little guilty for what she had done in the past, she started to eat.
Spike, Twilight and Chrysalis left the dining room. Spike intended to go to his room to sleep. Twilight intended to go to her room to show the bed to Chrysalis. Chrysalis wondered what the Twilight room would be like. What color would the bed be? The furniture? From the wall? And the floor?
Twilight opened a purple door with a pink doorknob with a six-pointed star design. Chrysalis couldn’t help but notice that the handle design reminded her of the Twilight Cutie Mark.
Twilight came in first, then it was Chrysalis. When Chrysalis entered, her mouth fell open as was the room. The bed was large, with a lilac blanket and pillow. It had a pink closet, a balcony, a purple side table with a purple lamp with a crescent moon design and the floor was lavender.
“Did you like the room, Chrysalis?” Twilight Sparkle asked as she approached Chrysalis. Chrysalis looked at Twilight with a smile.
“Yes, Twilight. I liked. It suits you a lot,” replied Chrysalis.
Twilight Sparkle blushed with praise. “Thank you, Chrysalis. Rarity helped me with the new decoration of the castle, especially in the bedrooms.”
“What are you going to do now, Twilight?” asked Chrysalis as she was curious.
“We can spend time together before going to sleep.” suggested Twilight Sparkle.
Chrysalis smiled. “It’s a good idea. But what are we going to do?”
“We can watch the stars for a few minutes.” Twilight approached the balcony and sat down. Chrysalis did the same.
Chrysalis, suddenly, felt being hugged by something. She looked down and saw Twilight’s huge wing hugging her. She didn’t know why, but she liked that wing hug.
Chrysalis was on the balcony of Twilight’s room, watching the city of Canterlot. She noticed that there were creatures walking in the city as well as ponies in Canterlot, but that wasn’t the only thing that caught her attention. She saw a statue of Twilight and their friends. She couldn’t help but notice that Equestria has changed a lot since she, Cozy and Tirek were petrified. She looked sideways, guiltily. She still felt guilty about all the harm she had done to the ponies. She wanted to go downstairs and apologize, but she feared that the ponies would run away from her and go to Twilight and ask that Chrysalis be petrified again, since for her, she believed that the ponies had hated her since she had tried to dominate Equestria and she, Cozy and Tirek had caused the separation of ponies and creatures in the present. But she was grateful that in the end the ponies and creatures came back together, and now, they were more united than before.
She really wanted to apologize for everything she did, but she feared that the ponies were holding a grudge against her or that they were afraid of her. She knew that Twilight told her that the creatures were now closer to the ponies than before, but she feared that the ponies wouldn’t want to forgive her for what she did in the present, since now all the foals and colts have grown and become ponies adults, and mares and stallions became elderly, so they were already in the future and not in the present.
She remembered that Twilight had a student named Luster Dawn. She asked what Luster Dawn would be like. Would it be a pony? Or was it a creature? Pony or not, she hoped to meet her. Maybe she could go to Ponyville today to meet Luster Dawn. But there was a problem: She didn’t know where Luster Dawn was living in Ponyville.
“Chrysalis,” Chrysalis heard Twilight’s voice, looked back and saw Twilight. “I’m going to Ponyville to see my friends. Would you like to go with me?”
“I would like to go with you, yes,” replied Chrysalis. “But what if your friends hold a grudge for what I did?”
“Chrysalis, my friends don’t hold a grudge.” Twilight Sparkle approached Chrysalis with a smile.
Chrysalis’ ears went down as she looked down sadly. “But I was the one who made them not believe you after you found out I was evil.”
“Hey, Chrysalis. Don’t be sad,” Twilight put a hoof on Chrysalis’s back. “That was passed. You’re good now. I know they will forgive you.”
“But I worry more about coming across Celestia, Luna and Discord, since they were the ones who used a petrification spell in me,” explained Chrysalis, now with concern on her face. “What if I come across them?”
“Chrysalis, Celestia and Luna are living in Silver Shoals, I can guarantee that it is a long way from Ponyville and Canterlot.” guaranteed Twilight Sparkle with a smile.
“What about Discord? Where is he?” asked Chrysalis.
“He and Fluttershy were married. They usually spend most days in the Land of Chaos.”
“How do they get back to Ponyville?”
“Through a portal. Usually, Discord is kinder than before and lives most days in the Land of Chaos than in Equestria, but that doesn’t mean he and Fluttershy don’t spend time together. It doesn’t even look like the same Lord of Chaos that used to play tricks on others.”
Chrysalis was confused. “Land of Chaos?”
“It’s where Discord lived before he met Celestia and Luna and was petrified.” explained Twilight Sparkle.
Chrysalis couldn’t help but deny that Twilight was smart. “How do you know that?”
“I read in a book in this castle’s library that talked about creatures,” replied Twilight Sparkle with a smile.
Chrysalis smiled. It made sense. “Well, Chrysalis. Are we going to Ponyville?” asked Twilight Sparkle.
“Yes. But are we going by train or flying?” asked Chrysalis.
“We’re going to fly,” replied Twilight, before turning and starting to come to Chrysalis’ right side and spread her wings.
Chrysalis started to flap her wings and started to float. When she looked at Twilight, she saw Twilight already flapping her wings too. Chrysalis couldn’t help looking at Twilight’s huge wings.
Twilight Sparkle looked at Chrysalis with a smile. “Come on, Chrysalis,” she started to fly. Chrysalis followed.
As they flew, Chrysalis was still uncertain and concerned about the ponies’ reaction to seeing that she was no longer a statue. Would they be afraid of her or would they go after her? She hoped that none of this would happen. But inside, she knew it was going to happen.
When they landed, all the ponies looked at Twilight and smiled, but when they saw Chrysalis, they ran out of fear. Chrysalis looked at the floor sadly. She already imagined this happening. Why wasn’t she surprised by this?
TwIlight didn’t imagine that the ponies were frightened to see Chrysalis, even though she has been reformed.
“They are still afraid of me. Even though I’m reformed,” said Chrysalis to Twilight. “Why am I not surprised by this?”
Twilight looked at Chrysalis. “It’s just that they still remember what you did. But I am sure that soon they will stop being afraid of you and will forgive you.”
Chrysalis looked at Twilight sadly. “But what if they don’t stop?”
“Chrysalis, they will stop being afraid of you. I’m sure,” said Twilight Sparkle. “They just need to get used to you around here, and realize that you’ve changed.”
“But what if they can’t get used to me? What if they don’t notice that I’ve changed?”
“Chrysalis, I know you want them to forgive you. But not always, ponies will forgive from night to day. It takes time before they realize that you’re good.” explained Twilight Sparkle wisely.
Chrysalis couldn’t help but notice that what Twilight said seemed to be a very wise thing. “How did you become such a wise pony?”
“Well before I was the governor of Equestria, I learned several lessons about friendship. It was from these lessons that I learned to be a better pony, ”replied Twilight Sparkle.
“How were these lessons?” asked Chrysalis, curious.
“Well before I was a princess, on a daily basis, my friends and I always had a lot of adventures. And always at the end of each adventure, I learned something about friendship.”
“Could you give me an example of a friendship lesson you learned?”
“Yes. There was a time when Trixie came to Ponyville to brag. All but I didn’t go to the stage to brag, because I feared that if I showed that I was good with my magic, I would lose my friends,” Twilight could already see the scene in her head. “But when a Ursa Minor came to Ponyville, I made her go back to sleep with a song, gave her a ‘bottle’ and put her back in the cave with my magic. When I finished, to my surprise, everypony was applauding for me, especially my friends. I was nervous and begged them not to stop being my friends, but they were confused. So I said that as they were talking bad about Trixie, I thought that if I showed that I am good at magic, they would talk bad about me and would stop being my friends. But they said that I was the opposite of Trixie and that I could show that I was good with my magic. But Trixie came up to me and said that I wouldn’t be as great and powerful as she was, and then, she fled Ponyville. And I learned that you shouldn’t be afraid to hide what you do best.”
“Wow. And were you born in Ponyville?” asked Chrysalis.
“No. I was born in Canterlot,” replied Twilight Sparkle.
Chrysalis was confused. “But then why did you come to Ponyville?”
“I came to Ponyville at Celestia’s request to oversee preparations for the Summer Sun Celebration, I even met five mares who helped me defeat Nightmare Moon and bring Luna back to Celestia,” replied Twilight Sparkle. “But then, I was sad. Since I would have to leave my new friends to return to Canterlot to continue my studies. Celestia had an idea, allowed me to stay in Ponyville and she asked me to send a letter about what I learned about friendship.”
“Was Celestia your mentor?” asked Chrysalis to be sure.
“Yes, Chrysalis. Since I was a filly, I was her student,” replied Twilight Sparkle with a smile just remembering when she and Celestia spent every day together at the castle. Whether reading books or watching the stars.
“Hi, Twilight!” Twilight looked back and saw her friends getting closer to her and Chrysalis.
“Girls!” shouted Twilight Sparkle in a cheerful tone.
Chrysalis couldn’t help noticing that the five mares that were in front of her were different. Pinkie Pie’s mane expanded and had party decorations, even a teddy bear. Applejack wore an orange scarf with an apple design and her mane was a bun and her tail was curled. Rainbow wore a black coat and the mane was up, just like Spitfire’s. Fluttershy had her mane attached by a flower clip. And Rarity wore a furry coat of dark blue color and some parts of the mane were white.
When they got really close, they gave a group hug. Upon leaving the embrace, they noticed that there was a female changeling next to Twilight.
“Hey, Twilight! Who is this new friend of yours?” asked Pinkie Pie with a smile as she pointed at Chrysalis.
“Girls, this is Chrysalis. She was released from the statue prison thanks to her redemption inside her statue prison.” presented Twilight Sparkle with a smile.
The girls were nothing more than surprises and their mouths open. Chrysalis started to feel uncomfortable with the grimaces that the five mares did. Are they not happy that she is good now?
Twilight, seeing that Chrysalis was not happy, looked at her friends not happy and said, “girls! Stop making those faces. Don’t you realize that Chrysalis is uncomfortable with your reactions?”
They have recovered from the shock. Rarity approached Twilight and Chrysalis. “We are sorry, dear. It’s just been years since we saw Chrysalis. And when we realized that this was Chrysalis, but just reformed, it left us speechless.”
“So, aren’t you five holding a grudge for everything bad I caused because of my hatred?” asked Chrysalis as she lifted a hoof slightly.
“We? Hold a grudge? No. Never,” replied Fluttershy with a smile.
Chrysalis smiled in relief at what Fluttershy said. She was happy that at least Twilight’s friends knew how to forgive others easily. But what about the other ponies? Would they easily forgive her? Because it seemed that they were still afraid of her and seemed to hold a grudge. She was saddened by this. It was going to be difficult for her to win the ponies’ forgiveness. But she knew that with Twilight helping her, she was going to make it.
Chrysalis and Twilight were sleeping together on the bed. Twilight slept on the left and Chrysalis on the right with a smile on her face. Twilight soon opened her eyes, yawned, uncovered, got out of bed and went to the balcony to lower the moon and raise the sun. Chrysalis continued to sleep in bed with a smile, but when she felt the rays of sunlight on her face, she made a face of discomfort and turned to the left, hoping not to feel the rays of the sun and continue to sleep peacefully.
But her happiness at sleeping was over when Twilight approached her to wake her up. “Chrysalis, wake up,” Twilight nudged her lightly with a hoof.
Chrysalis pouted. “Please, Twilight ... let me sleep ... it’s still too early ...”
“I understand, Chrysalis. But today I am going to the friendship school to see how Starlight is doing, and I would like you to come with me so that you and she can talk.” Twilight explained.
Chrysalis’ eyes opened when she heard the name “Starlight.” Would Twilight see Starlight at the friendship school? But what was a friendship school after all? She lifted her head from the pillow confusedly.
“Wait. Friendship School? What is it?” asked Chrysalis.
“It’s a school I founded so that ponies and creatures could learn about friendship,” Twilight explained. “But as I was going to be the ruler of Equestria, I passed the title of handmare to Starlight.”
Chrysalis was speechless, she didn’t realize that Twilight had founded a school for ponies and creatures to learn about friendship. But when she heard that Twilight wanted her to be together so she could talk to Starlight, maybe she could go to apologize to Starlight for wanting to get revenge at her and feeling hatred in the past. Her ears went down sadly just thinking about it. Would Starlight forgive her? Was Starlight holding a grudge against her? She looked sadly to the side while her ears were down.
Twilight, noting the sadness in Chrysalis, she asked, “Chrysalis? What happened? Why you’re sad?”
Chrysalis looked at Twilight sadly. “I wonder if Starlight is holding a grudge against me.”
Twilight was confused. “Why do you think Starlight would be holding a grudge against you?”
“It’s just that I didn’t accept her friendship offer and I wanted to get revenge at her,” Chrysalis explained. “After what I did, it would make perfect sense for her to be mad at me.”
Twilight approached Chrysalis with a smile. “Starlight would never hold a grudge against anypony, not even a villain, even if he did something very bad to her.”
“But when I was with Discord’s powers, I arrested you, your friends, Starlight, Spike and Celestia and Luna. I even tried to rip off Spike’s wings just to intimidate,” Chrysalis punctuated sadly while looking to the side, “and all of that was just because I was mad at her for making my subjects against me.”
Chrysalis felt the Twilight hoof on her chin, and making her head turn to her, she noticed that the purple adult alicorn was smiling. “Chrysalis, you can trust me; Starlight doesn’t hold a grudge. Well, except when she was mean and wanted to get revenge at me for making the citizens of Our Town go against her.”
“Was Starlight evil once?” asked Chrysalis, now surprised by this revelation.
“Yes, but that was many years ago, now she is reformed, so you can be sure that she is not holding a grudge against you,” Twilight replied with a smile.
Chrysalis’ ears dropped unsteadily. “But what if she is?”
“She is not holding a grudge, Chrysalis. You can trust me,” Twilight guaranteed with a wing hug. “Let’s go?”
Chrysalis started to think better, before let go a breath and answering, “okay, let’s go.”
Twilight stopped hugging Chrysalis with her wing and opened the other wing before going to the balcony and flying out, Chrysalis did the same as Twilight. As they flew, their mane crashed against the wind, and Chrysalis looked sideways uncertainly, would Starlight really forgive her? Twilight assured the ex-queen of the changelings that Starlight would forgive her, but she feared that she wouldn’t.
Upon arriving in Ponyville, they posed beside the door of the Friendship School and soon entered. While Twilight led the way and looked ahead, there were several foals and baby creatures together going to their classroom, and Chrysalis looked around, she couldn’t help but agree that it was beautiful the school on the inside. Until they stopped in front of a light purple door, and Twilight knocked on the door with a hoof.
“You may come in!” said Starlight on the other side of the door.
Twilight opened the door with her magic and went in, and Chrysalis soon came in behind her, with the nervously shows on her face. Starlight was sitting at her table, she was wearing a burgundy outfit and looking at Twilight with a smile.
“Hi, Starlight! How’s your job going as handmare from the school of friendship?” asked Twilight with a smile.
“It’s going well, Twilight,” Starlight replied with a smile, she looked to the left and noticed that next to Twilight was a female changeling of white color and sky blue mane. “Twilight, who’s this changeling with you?”
“This is Chrysalis, Starlight. She was released from her stone prison, thanks to her change of heart,” Twilight replied.
Starlight was surprised by what Twilight said to her. Was the changeling next to Twilight Chrysalis? But she soon smiled, got up and went to Twilight.
“I’m glad she was reformed, Twilight,” said Starlight.
Chrysalis was surprised by what Starlight said to her. “Are you happy that I’m reformed?”
Starlight looked at Chrysalis now. “Of course I am. I always hoped that one day you would regret and reform, even though you denied my friend request and turned to stone for some twenty years, I never stopped believing in you.”
“But I don’t understand. Why? I felt hatred for you when you made my ex-subjects against me and I even wanted to get revenge at you,” said Chrysalis confusedly.
“Because… I understand you, Chrysalis. When I was mean, I also felt hate and wanted to take revenge.” Starlight confessed while putting a hoof on her chest while remembering her past. Chrysalis was surprised by this revelation.
“So, you wanted to help me with my reformation because Twilight helped you?” asked Chrysalis to be sure.
“Yes, Chrysalis.”
Chrysalis looked sadly to the side. She couldn’t stop thinking that she really was revengeful in the past. She should have known that Starlight had a reason to do all that to her, but was she understanding and accepted Starlight’s friendship? No, she thought only of revenge.
“Chrysalis? What happened? Was it something I said?” asked Starlight, now with her ears down in a worried way.
“It’s just ... I can’t help thinking that I was vindictive in the past. I should have understood and accepted your friendship offer from the beginning, since if I did that, I wouldn’t have been petrified for twenty years.” Chrysalis explained sadly.
Starlight felt sorry for Chrysalis, she approached the reformed changeling and placed a hoof on her chest. “Chrysalis, I’m sorry that you’re feeling this way. Is there anything I can help you feel better about?”
“I don’t think so, Twilight is already helping me, but thanks,” Chrysalis replied, now with a small smile.
“Well, if you need me, you know where to find me,” said Starlight as she returned to her table to sit. Chrysalis and Twilight turned and left the room. Twilight closed the door as soon as they left.
Chrysalis can’t help feeling happy that Starlight has forgiven her. Chrysalis saw doors with a small square glass on the right. Curious, she approached the door and looked inside. She noticed that inside there was a white unicorn mare with purple and pink mane and the Cutie Mark was on a shield with a musical note next to a blackboard, and on the tables were foals of ponies and creatures with their books, feathers and notebooks. Chrysalis was so attentive watching the mare giving the class that she didn’t even notice Twilight approaching her curiously.
“Chrysalis, what are you doing?” she asked.
Chrysalis’ ears perked up as her eyes blinked when she heard Twilight’s voice, she soon looked at Twilight. “I can see what’s behind that door through that glass, and from what I could see, the foals are already having class.”
Twilight soon smiled. “Ah yes! Their classes have already started. Well before my friends left and took to live in different places, they were the teachers who taught the foals of ponies and creatures.”
“Were your friends giving friendship lessons?”
“Yes. Fluttershy taught kindness, Rarity of generosity, Pinkie of laughter, Applejack of honesty and Rainbow of loyalty,” Twilight replied.
“But what made them give up being teachers at your school after all these years?” asked Chrysalis, now confused.
“They had other things to do. Rarity became the leader in Yakyakistan, and Pinkie, Rainbow, Applejack and Fluttershy already had their jobs, and because of that, they had to retire as teachers.” Twilight explained.
“Who replaced them as teachers?” asked Chrysalis.
“Now, Apple Bloom teaches honesty, Sweetie Belle of generosity, Scootaloo of loyalty, Ocellus of kindness, Smolder of honesty and Silverstream of laughs,” Twilight replied.
Chrysalis did not imagine that the five friends of Twilight would stop being teachers because the future had planned something for them, but she understood why they had retired as teachers; they had their jobs, and they probably must have it was difficult to have two jobs. She really hoped that the five mares and Twilight were having a good life in this future with no threats and enemies to contend with. She noticed that Twilight turned and started walking, probably to get out of school. Chrysalis, seeing this, followed her.
When they left school, Chrysalis noticed that the ponies were afraid to see her and they ran away. Chrysalis blew out a breath as she closed her eyes. A few days have passed since she was released from prison for her statue, and she couldn’t get used to the fact that the ponies were still afraid of her. But also, why blame them for feeling this way? She was mean and vindictive in the past, there was every good reason for them to be like that, but still ... she wanted to win the ponies’ forgiveness and show them that she have changed. What about her ex-subjects? She also wanted to be forgiven by them, but she did not go yet at the hive to apologize and ask for forgiveness because she was afraid that they were holding a grudge for everything she did to them and Equestria. Perhaps, one day, when she is not so nervous and insecure, she could go to the hive to ask for forgiveness along with Twilight. But now, she did not intend to do that. That would be for another day; one day she wouldn’t be so nervous and unsure.
