Chapter 1: An Unlikely Visitor

View Online

“Hey Applejack look at me!” smiled Applebloom with a big wide grin on her face as she caught a bunch of apples at once from a tree.

Applejack turned towards her little sister. She knew that she was trying to impress her but she didn't need to do any of that, Applejack had been so proud of her little sister. Though before she could respond, she looked towards the distance and with an annoyed glance, one word escaped her lips.

“Flim...” she glared towards the salesman pony, she couldn't help but wonder what he was up to this time, there was no way she was going to fall for their tricks again. She had almost risked Granny's health just because she didn't want to tell her the truth about the tonic.

“Applejack! It's so good to see you again. There's a reason I come towards you today, I could really use your advice.” began Flim.

Applejack raised her eyebrow at this. Her advice? She wasn't about to let him think he had the advantage here.

“You listen here Flim, you and Flam aren't welcome here, so I reckon you pack up and leave.” spoke Applejack. She looked towards Applebloom and had her go off and hang out with Big Mac, there was no sense dragging her into any of this.

“Applejack, I'm terribly sorry about what happened with Granny, but just hear me out please.” began Flim who seemed to look sentimental and lost in his own train of thought but yet Applejack was still looking around for any signs of the other salespony.

“So where's your partner in crime? I reckon ya'll we're as close as peaches and cobbler.” questioned Applejack.

“He's not here, and he's not going to come either. I..., he began and seemed to tense up a bit. He stood completely still, it was like he wasn't the Flim she was used to. She knew better than than to simply believe a word he said but she just continued to stand there and listen to the rest of what he had to say. "Flam, he doesn't want me around anymore, he's all busy with his own success in life, and he threw me to the side like a piece of garbage, my own brother! Can you believe it? Even I didn't think he would do such a thing, not to me, I mean we con ponies all the time, we've always been a team and now I feel so lost and empty.” explained Flim further.

“Applejack there you are, thank you so much for letting me gather some of your fresh batch of apples for the animals, they will love this so much. It really means a lot.” spoke Fluttershy coming up beside Applejack now, she noticed Flim standing there alone and remembered the last time she had seen him the two of them had been called to Viva Las Pegusus and she had to convince Applejack to actually help the Flim and Flam brothers.

“Oh Flim it's so good to see you again, where's Flam?” she asked curiously as this was the first time she saw just one of the two, they were always together, they seemed really close.

“Honestly, probably taking over the resort back in Viva Las Pegusus.” sighed Flim. He then glanced back towards Applejack. “Listen I know you don't owe me any kind of favor, and honestly I'm not expecting a hand out here but I just want some advice. I've never been on my own before and I feel so lost without Flam by my side. I still can't believe he ditched me...” explained Flim with an expression of sadness, regret but mostly fear of the unknown of what might happen to him now.

“Listen Flim, I don't reckon I know how to help you if you actually need help which I highly doubt. Now get off of my farm, I don't want to see you around my kin or I reckon...” spoke Applejack obviously she didn't believe a word of anything he was saying.

“I understand...I was wrong to think you might give me a chance.” he spoke as he would then turn to walk away.

“Wait! You can come with me to my cottage, maybe there's something I can do to help.” offered Fluttershy. Unlike Applejack she was willing to hear and listen to Flim and she had to figure this out, Flim didn't look like himself. He seemed really out of it, and Fluttershy had this feeling in her gut he wasn't lying or trying to con Applejack, he genuinely needed help and Applejack's prior history with the Flim Flam brothers didn't allow her an open perspective on what was going on now.

“Fluttershy are you really going to trust him?” questioned Applejack concerned for her dear friend.

“I'm at least willing to hear his side of the story. I know how you feel Applejack but every pony, even a salespony deserves a second chance.” spoke Fluttershy as she then picked up the basket of apples for her animals. “C'mon Flim follow me.”

Flim smiled towards Fluttershy as he turned to Applejack with a sad expression. “It's really a shame Applejack, I was thinking you could give me some advice but I guess it's not going to happen.” and with that Flim followed Fluttershy towards her cottage.

Applejack couldn't help but watch the two walk off together, and already she had a bunch of suspicions in her mind as to what was actually going on here. What were they planning this time? It had to be something pretty sneaky for Flim and Flam to be able to work without actually being together. She rubbed her hoof on her chin as she thought.

“I reckon, I'd better keep my eyes on him, I wouldn't trust him, just like I wouldn't trust a snake near my crops.” spoke Applejack aloud.

“Sis? Are you okay?” questioned Applebloom as she came up beside her older sister, Big Mac at her side as well. He had this look on his face, that seem to match Applejack's distrust.

“Where'd he go?” questioned Big Mac.

“He's gone, good riddance as far as I'm concerned, I just hope Fluttershy knows what she's getting herself into.” spoke Applejack as she then turned towards her sister, assuring her she was fine and giving her a soft hug.

“Don't worry sis, I'm sure Fluttershy will be okay.” spoke Applebloom.

Applejack still wasn't sure about that, who knew what Flim was up to this time and she had it set in her mind he had to be up to something, there was no way his brother would just ditch him after how hard they had worked to scam ponies, it didn't make any sense, not a lick of sense so of course she would have to find out what was actually going on here.

“Can you watch Applebloom, Big Mac?” she asked him as she didn't want Flam to show up when she wasn't there.

“Yep.” replied Big Mac.

“But sis can't I go with you?” asked Applebloom with a sad look in her big eyes.

“No Applebloom, those two are dangerous, I want you to stay with Big Mac or Granny okay?” she instructed as she gathered her things and finished up her work for the day, it didn't take her that long, she had been just about done when Flim had shown up. She then decided to go see what was going on at Fluttershy's cottage, she trusted her friends but she also cared about her friends and she wasn't about to let Flim take advantage of Fluttershy. She was way too nice for her own good sometimes, and Applejack was determined not to allow Flim to abuse her kind nature.

*****

Fluttershy had lead Flim back to her cottage and immediately Angel gave him the death glare.

“We’re here, I can make you some tea... if you would like.” questioned Fluttershy as she opened up her home to Flim. Flim followed Fluttershy into her cottage with a slight smile and a nod in response to her question. He had been hoping Applejack would have at least listened to him, but he understood her distrust. He sat down on Fluttershy's couch as she went into her kitchen to make him a cup of tea.

Angel glared up towards Flim the entire time as he attempted to kick and bite him. Flim didn't pay much mind to the rabbit as he looked around the lovely cozy little cottage. “You have a really nice place here, it's very quiant, it suits you.” smiled Flim softly.

“Oh thank you so much. Here do you want sugar with it?” she asked softly.

“Oh sure just one cube, thank you again, really it means so much to me.” replied Flim, very emotional it was hard to believe that somepony was actually willing to believe him. Then again Fluttershy had helped him and his brother get reunited after Glad Goldmane had tried to tear them apart. He was grateful to her for that but when he thought of his brother, a soft sad expression came to his face as he sighed heavily and looked off into the distance. He missed his brother already and wished more than anything else that things could have been different.

“Listen Flim, I understand that Applejack and you don't have a good history but she's just looking out for herself and her family. I'm sure she didn't mean to hurt your feelings.” spoke Fluttershy.

“Oh I know, she has every right to be upset with us after what we did to Granny that last time. I am so sorry...I just want to make up with my brother and be a team again but he doesn't even want me by his side anymore, he's convinced he doesn't need me to make our new resort a success. Well, I guess his resort now. Do you have a brother that you always wanted to help but weren't sure how too?” questioned Flim.

Fluttershy nodded and took a sip of her tea. “Yes I do, and despite all my attempts to help him he didn't want to help himself, finally I got through to him and he's doing a lot better now. I'm sure maybe if you just talked to him again, maybe he could change too.”

“I don't know Fluttershy, he didn't seem to want to “talk” when he kicked me to the curbside.” sighed Flim very disappointed in himself. What kind of pony was he anyways? Without Flam by his side he was nothing, he had nothing, no name, no family, and not a single friend in the world and yet here he was in Fluttershy's cottage enjoying a cup of tea. This mare had offered him kindness that frankly he knew he didn't deserve. Her mane suited her completely with how it fell over her face and covered one eye. The affect made her look absolutely beautiful. How she was able to work with animals and even get them to listen was rather amazing. She was truly something special, someone that any pony would want to see. He couldn't help thinking how he could use this to get back onto his feet but he couldn't do that. He had to prove he was willing to try to change so he had to think like a normal stallion rather than as a con artist but how would he prove that to the rest of them, especially Applejack.

“Flim? Are you okay? You're tea is going to get cold if you don't drink it, I could reheat it if you'd like me too?” she offered kindly.

Flim was touched, it was just a simple gesture to reheat his tea, but no one had ever offered him anything like this before. “No thank you Fluttershy, you're really sweet but I can drink it like this. I was just thinking was all.” replied Flim.

“About your brother?” asked Fluttershy.

Flim nodded as he couldn't help but look away and shed a tear, he wouldn't let her see him so weak, especially when she was so strong despite seeming so soft. She was beyond amazing. Flim then sipped at his tea, it was delicious, full of flavor despite not being piping hot, but it was still warm so it wasn't like it was cold. He finished his tea as he watched Fluttershy in her chair trying to convince Angel to eat his salad.

“Come on Angel you know you need it.” she gestured towards the salad.

Angel just pointed to Flim and huffed his chest out crossing his arms together and turning to the side.

“I'm so sorry about this Flim but I think Angel thinks you are taking me away or something.” began Fluttershy as she looked towards him with a soft look and gave Angel that look, Angel's ears drooped a bit and he scattered off with a huff of annoyance as he threw his carrot at Flim.

“It's fine Fluttershy, in a way I understand how he feels. I'm a stranger here and he doesn't know me so he has reason not to trust me, but then again Flam has known me all our lives and yet he still was willing to throw me to the side.” he sighed softly.

“Well I won't, you can stay here as long as you need. You can sleep on my couch, and don't mind Angel I'm sure he'll warm up to you eventually, he just needs time to adjust. Just promise me that you really want to change.” asked Fluttershy.

“I swear, I'm not the same pony I used to be. I'm going to be a different pony from now on and I'm going to show Applejack and the others that I'm serious about this.” replied Flim.

Chapter 2: Lending a Hoof

“Goodnight Flim.” smiled Fluttershy as she had finally gotten Angel to eat his salad despite his complaining and groaning. Angel just glared towards Flim as Fluttershy headed upstairs.

Flim had time to think about all that had occurred. He had finished his tea, he had taken his time sipping at it, savoring the flavor but more than that he was too lost in thought to truly concentrate. He took a deep breath and sighed heavily as he glanced around the quiant little cottage. He heard faint footsteps as he looked towards the stairs and Fluttershy came down and handed him a blanket and a soft pillow.

“Here you go, it might get a bit chilly tonight. Are you comfortable?” she asked softly concerned and wanting her guest to be content and able to relax.

“Oh Fluttershy thank you again for allowing me to stay here, I really appreciate it. You are so kind.” He smiled towards her with a soft expression, his mind going back to his earlier thoughts. He wasn't lying to himself, he really did want to change. He was tired of all the games, he had to fix things. The only question was where to start when he didn't know who or where to turn too?

“Goodnight again Flim, you just let me know if you need anything okay?” Fluttershy asked softly as she turned in her hooves, yawing and turning off the lights while she headed upstairs. She would then head into bed for the night

Flim couldn't sleep, at least not right away for he had far too much on his mind. He couldn't help but wonder what Flam was up too, probably pulling off some grand scheme thinking he could do anything in the world. He knew the two had always made a great team so he hadn't really expected anything like this to ever happen, but here he was, sitting alone, not having a clue in the world why his brother had changed so drastically. He laid down on the couch as he removed his hat and put it to the side of the sofa. He pulled the covers over him, putting the pillow behind his head as he laid down on his back to look up towards the ceiling.

He couldn't help but wish things were different. He had to think of someway to get back on good terms with Flam but the only way to do that would be to pull off some grand scheme that would get his attention. He couldn't use Fluttershy, however he couldn't help but think about the many animals she had.He rubbed his hoof under his chin as he thought about what he could do but what if Fluttershy found out? She'd be heartbroken and he'd couldn't do that to her but he would have to think of something? He decided at least for now to get some rest, he could think more in the morning, and Fluttershy was kind enough to allow him to stay here but he wasn't sure if she would be the best one to ask about advice. He had really wanted to speak with Applejack but she wanted nothing to do with him and he completely understood but at the same time, he needed guidance. He didn't know where else to turn or whom to turn to in his time of need. He closed his eyes and tried to get some sleep, though it was a struggle at first, eventually he did drift off into a restful slumber.

“Good morning, did you sleep well?” asked Fluttershy as Flim awoke to see her sitting sideways in her chair. He sat up as he looked towards Fluttershy and noticed there was tea sitting on the end table next to the two of them.

“Well, as good as I could all things considered.” replied Flim honestly as he put the covers towards the side as he sat up beside Fluttershy.

“Would you like some tea?” she offered towards him holding out a tea cup.

“Sure I would love a spot of tea. Thank you again Fluttershy, truly words can't even begin to express my gratitude.” replied Flim as he nodded his head towards her in a respectful manner. “Fluttershy...," began Flim as he looked down at first and then continued. "I need some advice but Applejack won't even listen to a word I say, would you be willing to hear me out?” he questioned towards her. He was nervous as to what she might say, but he was hopeful that she would hear what he had to say rather than assume he was up to no good. Of course Applejack had every reason not to trust him, he understood her reaction to him showing up but he really wasn't trying to scam any pony, not this time.

“Of course, I'm always willing to lend a helping hoof.” replied Fluttershy softly as she took a sip of her tea and waiting for him to tell her more. She knew she might not be the best one to ask for advice but she would try her best to help him if she could. She hated to see any pony upset, and she knew that he was upset by his body language, just the way he slouched in the sofa and how he glanced off towards the side like he was looking for some pony, almost like he expected to see his brother beside him only to find it empty.

“Well...I don't know what to do. I've never been on my own, Flam and me have always been a team and now I am nothing, I have nothing, and no one is going to trust a con like me.” explained Flim with a heavy sigh.

Fluttershy thought about it for awhile before she responded. She knew that Applejack didn't trust him but she also had past bad experiences with the two but if he was really willing to turn over a new leaf then he couldn't see himself as a con pony. He had to see himself as a pony that needed to find a new purpose.

“You need to find something else that you enjoy doing that you are good at. You need to show people that you are willing to change, and then people might believe that you really want too. I mean look at Discord, he's been doing wonderfully ever since he was reformed and is one of my closest friends, I would trust him in a heartbeat.” smiled Fluttershy softly. She was glad she was able to have Discord as her friend, but they were really just that, friends. She had yet to find that special some pony in her life, but with how shy she was, she wondered if she would ever find it. She only hoped to be able to help Flim and give him the confidence she knew he needed to succeed in whatever path he chose next for himself, but she was willing to be with him every step of the way. She didn't care what any pony thought. She would never turn away any pony in need of help and he really needed a friend right now. She was willing to lend a helping hoof.

“You're right, I need to get back out there, I can't be stuck in the past, I have to focus on here and now. Thank you Fluttershy, so much for everything but you've done enough for me I really shouldn't trouble you more.” began Flim.

“Oh I don't mind, feel free to drop by any time for a cup of tea.” smiled Fluttershy softly as she went over towards Flim and gave him a soft and gentle hug. “I'm always here if you ever need a friend or just want to talk.”

Flim couldn't help but to tense up just a little bit, he couldn't believe that she was still willing to accept him when no one else would've even given him a second glance. He stood up, put his hat upon his hat and gently waved towards Fluttershy as he made his way out the door. Flim looked around to all the animals outside of Fluttershy's cottage it was amazing how she could handle so many. He couldn't help but wonder if he could help her out a bit. Hmm....he had to find a way and he immediately had a brilliant idea that would not only limit her amount of animals she had to care for but allow him to get back into his feet.

Applejack still wasn't sure what to think about Flim randomly showing up on her property asking for advice. Of all the nerves! Just who did he think he was trying to fool? She wasn't about to let him get the better of her, he and his brother, the two of them were good for nothing thieves. First they had tried to steal her farm with that machine, and then the issue with Granny and then she had to reunite the two with Fluttershy's help at the Las Pegusus resort only for the two to end up taking over the place. It was just like the two of them, con artists is what they were and the only thing they cared about was how much money they could make, they didn't care about anyone or anything except themselves so why would she believe he actually wanted to start a new? The only thing she couldn't figure out was what sort of scam the two were plotting now. She rubbed her hoof against her chin as she stood thinking as she decided to take a visit over to Fluttershy's, really just to check up on her, but more than that to make sure her friend's kindness wasn't being taken advantage of, and right now that was honestly her worst fear. Fluttershy didn't deserve that, it was awfully sweet of her to offer kindness to any pony, even Discord himself but at least with Discord she knew what she had been getting into. You never knew what you were getting into with those two brothers but then she also wondered what had broken the two off in the first place. There had to be a reason for all this madness and she was going to get to the bottom of it, if it was the last thing she did. She didn't really need much she gathered herself as she hurried over towards the cottage, she was worried but most of all she was concerned for her friend and she stopped in her tracks when she saw Flim in Fluttershy's yard, gathering up her animals into a truck. Immediately she raised her eyebrows at this but for now she would watch and wait to see what was going on. For all she knew Fluttershy might have asked him to help move some of the animals to the resort she had built.

“Fluttershy is just going to love this! I'll be able to get back on my hooves and she'll have less stress to worry about.” smiled Flim to himself. “Now here you go sir now remember our arrangement.” smiled Flim as he gave what looked like a zookeeper some kind of form to sign.

“Alrightly thank you so much and we'll be sure they have good homes at our zoo, and we'll tell everyone how you helped to save these poor animals.” spoke the zookeeper with a sly grin on his lips.

Applejack was beyond furious. What was the meaning of this? He was selling Fluttershy's animals to a zoo? Just like she thought he was up to no good like always. She knew better than to trust him. She had to say something to Fluttershy.

Fluttershy came out of the cottage after the zookeeper left. “Flim is everything alright? It was awfully quiet out here.” she began as she couldn't help but notice there didn't seem to be as many animals around as she was accustomed to seeing but perhaps they were just resting and would come out later.

“Oh yes Fluttershy everything is fine. You really are amazing you know that? A lovely mare worth your weight in gold.” smiled Flim as he softly kissed her upon the hoof.

“Oh Flim, you're embrassing me.” she blushed slightly.

Applejack continued to observe from the background and she couldn't believe what she thought she was seeing. Did Fluttershy actually care for this con artist? No she shook that thought out of her head but still there was no doubt the two seemed to be getting along despite their own unique differences.

“Fluttershy, would you care to join me for lunch?” offered Flim with a soft smile towards her.

“I would love too. Oh but Angel doesn't have anyone to watch him...hmm I suppose he'll be okay for a little bit without me.” smiled Fluttershy and with that the two went off towards Ponyville to find a good spot to eat and talk more.

Chapter 3: Feelings Bloom

View Online

“Fluttershy...” began Flim as the two sat down outside a quaint little cafe, he figured it would be a lovely place for him to take her.

“Yes? Is something the matter?” she asked noting he seemed concerned about something.

“I...well I think you're lovely.” replied Flim with a soft blush. He couldn't believe that he wanted so much to change but more than anything else he wanted her to see him in a new light, he was determined to change his life, but he needed a purpose and he was left wondering what that purpose might be.

“Oh. Well thank you, you are quite handsome yourself.” smiled Fluttershy with a soft giggle. “You didn't need to be nervous about that, I like it when I get complimented and often other ponies don't even notice me.” replied Fluttershy.

How could they not notice her? She was amazing, beautiful, sensitive and willing to lend her hoof to literally anyone that needed help. She herself had said she helped Discord a being of chaos to be a good guy, so Flim was sure if she could do that, then she could help him change as well but he wasn't sure about himself. He still missed his brother, and he was disappointed with how things had turned out. He knew he couldn't change things. Even if he had some sort of time altering device it wouldn't fix anything, besides he didn't need Flam in his life. He was going to prove once and for all that he could stand on his own two hooves. He didn't need no help, but he knew he needed Fluttershy. Applejack didn't trust him, he understood that, but Fluttershy had reached out to him and he had to show her just how grateful he was. He knew she would be happy to have more time to herself and her animals would be well cared for in a zoo, everyone won right? He couldn't help feeling like something wasn't right, that there was simply something he was missing, like the key piece of a complicated one thousand piece puzzle, he rubbed his hoof against his chin deep in thought as he looked over to Fluttershy who was busy staring at the menu trying to figure out what she wanted to eat from the cafe. The waitress had already brought them each a cup of tea.

Fluttershy looked up to the waitress and ordered just some simple sandwiches with a side salad. The waitress then looked to Flim. Flim decided to order chicken wraps with a tossed salad for his side. He couldn't help smiling towards Fluttershy while he spoke to the waitress. The waitress took down the orders and went off to take their order back to the cook so he could begin getting their order filled.

Flim leaned on his one hoof as he admired Fluttershy from across the table. He couldn't help but wishing he could be more like her, just lead a simple life and not have to worry about making bits and having to fool so many ponies just to make a life for himself. He looked towards Fluttershy as he couldn't help but notice she was looking back at him.

“Flim...I'm so proud of you for standing up for yourself. I know it can be hard to take that first step, but trust me no matter how hard it is, once you have taken it, everything becomes so much easier. It's almost like riding a bike for the first time.” smiled Fluttershy towards him. She was really happy for Flim and finding a new path even if he was unsure of what that path might be.

“I'm just happy to be here with you. You have shown me something no one else has, kindness and a belief in someone like me.”

“It's because I know you can change, and I believe you are serious about this. I don't think you would come all this way to simply con Applejack into hearing your own sob story. What happened between you and Flam?” she asked curiously.

“It's complicated but all you need to know is it all started after we took over the resort. We were deciding how to double the bits we were already making, Flam suggested expanding the resort with a full on amusement park, and I suggested a restaurant that could be added to the resort that would be cheaper but still double our profits. He thought he was right, I thought I was right, we got into a heated fight and the next thing I know, I wake up the next day outside the resort with my bags thrown outside on the ground as I hear Flam shouting at me “Get out and don't come back!” explained Flim towards Fluttershy.

“Hmm...I see that sounds rather unpleasant. It must have hurt your feelings for your own brother to throw you out like that. How did you manage to get to Ponyville?” questioned Fluttershy wanting to piece more of the puzzle together. If she understood exactly what had occurred perhaps she could help fix it. She still wasn't sure how she was going to talk to Flam when he was in Las Pegusus and she sure wasn't in no hurry to go back to the crazy loud awful place but Flim needed help. She had to think of a way to help him even if it would mean returning back to the resort she just hoped it wouldn't come to that.

“I walked. Flam has all our bits so I couldn't even take the train here, it was rather exhausting but I finally made it and I had hoped maybe Applejack might at least hear me out, but no she turned me away just like every other pony I tried to ask. You are the first to actually want to help me. I can't even begin to explain what this has meant to me. I want to change but having someone believe in me is a good motivation.” smiled Flim softly as he couldn't help wondering what Fluttershy really thought of him, did she see him as a con artist pony or did she see there was more to him then meets the eye?

“Oh dear. You must be exhausted.” began Fluttershy in a worried tone. She knew it was a long ways to get to Las Pegusus and to come all the way here alone and with no friends or anyone to talk to must have been horrible. Fluttershy had to do something but she wondered what she could do to help.

“Well I felt a lot better after having a cup of tea with you in your cottage. It was such a small little act of kindness but it meant the world to me.” smiled Film.

“Oh it was no trouble, I would do that for any pony. It doesn't matter to me who they were or where they come from. I'm always willing to listen.” replied Fluttershy softly. “After all I can tell that you really want to change, and you haven't even tried to scam any pony and to me that proves your words to be true.”

“Yes well...even so I still need to find a purpose and I would be glad to lend you a hand anytime.” smiled Film. “Fluttershy... there's something I want to tell you.” began Flim nervously as he blushed softly not aware if Fluttershy even knew that he was beginning to grow feelings for her, and wondering if she might return his feelings. If she didn't he wasn't sure what he would think or do.

“You can tell me anything Flim, I'm always willing to listen to what others have to say, please go on.” smiled Fluttershy softly as she would wait for him to continue.

“Well...it's just you are so amazing and wonderful and I think I am beginning to grow feelings for a very special mare, one unlike any other.” spoke Flim.

Fluttershy blushed deeply. “Oh...I'm sure this mare would be very lucky to have someone say that about her. No pony ever goes out of their way to compliment me or really notice me that much really, though I don't mind it honestly. It's okay if I'm not noticed, I'm just glad to be able to help with any pony's problems.” explained Fluttershy.

“Never? How could no pony ever compliment such an amazing mare? Your mane matches you so perfectly. The way you tend to your animals is simply a spectular thing to watch in itself and your kind nature makes you shine brighter than even the brightest star in the night's sky!” announced Flim out loud almost like he was trying to market her to a crowd and soon the two were surrounded by a bunch of ponies wanting to take photographs of Fluttershy. He quickly pulled her into the back of the cafe to get her away from the crowd.

“Sorry about that, sometimes I can get a bit carried away.” smiled Flim. Fluttershy giggled as she looked up towards him as the two were in the back hallway which was relatively a narrow walkway with a colt and fillies bathroom doors to each side of them and a water fountain in the back of the hallway. One for small colts and fillies and one regular sized for stallions and mares. The two weren't that far away from each other and Flim could feel the heat of the moment. He wanted so desperately to lean in to kiss her but he was afraid, scared he would be leaping into action without thinking things through and he couldn't afford to screw this up. He had one chance to prove himself and he wasn't going to let his old self, ruin his new chance for happiness in life, and perhaps that meant he could find happiness in a more simplistic life alongside her.

“Oh it's fine, I didn't want to be in that crowd anymore either.” smiled Fluttershy, she blushed slightly as she looked towards Flim. She never thought she would have feelings for any pony but she couldn't help but to have this longing and she knew he had said he liked her. She couldn't believe it, he even said she was amazing. Oh she couldn't help but to giggle softly.

“Flim...can I tell you something?” questioned Fluttershy the blush on her face grew darker as she turned her head to the side, trying to hide the pink rosy cheeks she was having.

“Sure, you can always count on me Fluttershy.” smiled Flim, he was starting to feel confident in himself again and for the first time in his life, he felt like he didn't need his brother by his side to be a successful business pony.

“I think I like you too.” spoke Fluttershy, not giving direct eye contact because she was nervous about what he might think. She didn't want him to think she was just saying this, because she truly did care for Flim, well in truth she cared for all her friends but there was just something about Flim that stuck out to her and Fluttershy couldn't quite pin down what it was, all she knew right now was she couldn't deny the feelings blooming in her heart, and she knew he felt the same. The two glanced into each other's eyes, as Flim made the first move as he pulled Fluttershy into a soft embrace.

“Fluttershy...” he whispered softly. “Will you be my marefriend?” he asked hesitately.

“Oh of course, I would love too.” replied Fluttershy with an excited yay so that the crowd wouldn't follow them.

Flim couldn't help but stroke his hoof over Fluttershy's lovely mane as he held her close to him. Flim looked around to the small surroundings.

“Perhaps we should find a more comfortable spot to get to know each other better?” he asked softly.

“Of course that's a lovely idea.” replied Fluttershy as Flim happened to know this cafe had a back exit in case of a fire.

“Follow me” stated Flim as he took Fluttershy's hoof in his and the two quickly left the cafe without actually getting their lunch, but Flim would be sure to send a letter with a tip for the waitress. Flim led Fluttershy back to her cottage, some of her animals were out including Angel who looked very upset and tapping his feet rather annoyed.

“Oh dear Angel what's wrong?” questioned Fluttershy as she went up to Angel to try to figure out what was wrong. Angel was trying to tell her something about the animals she nodded as she listened to what he said.

She looked towards Flim after speaking with Angel. “Angel says some of my animals have just disappeared. Oh dear I hope everything is okay.” spoke Fluttershy.

“Well, I'm sure we'll figure it out but for now why don't we go in and grab a bite to eat?” smiled Flim with a drop of sweat running down his face. Fluttershy would hate him if she figured out what he had done. He had to find a way to fix things and keep her distracted. This would be the hardest scandal of his career, but for her it was worth the risk.

“Oh I suppose you're right. Don't worry Angel after I grab a bite to eat we'll look for the animals okay?” she spoke softly towards Angel who just pointed towards Flim trying to say he had something to do with it. “Oh don't be silly Angel, Flim wouldn't do something like that.” and with that the two went into the cottage together.

Flim was in big trouble, and how was he going to fix this mess he had created? Oh dear and no pony was ever going to trust him ever again if they found out that he betrayed Fluttershy's kindness.

Chapter 4: Flim's Resolve

Applejack hadn't been able to sleep ever since seeing what went on that day with Flim and the animals and she swore she was going to get to the bottom of it. She ended up following the zookeeper back to his zoo as he got the animals into their cages. She approached him carefully as she knew she wasn't upset with him.

“I reckon ya'll can tell me exactly what went on back there?” she questioned.

The zookeeper looked to Applejack rather confused. “What do you mean what is going on? I was told Fluttershy needed some space for herself and with all those animals she was just too busy so Flim asked me to take some of them off her hands and in exchange I gave him bits for each animal.” explained the zookeeper with a sweat drop running down his face.

“Hmm how interesting. Fluttershy would never send her animals away. She loves and cares for all her creatures, even that devil.” spoke Applejack as she glared at the zookeeper. “I reckon ya'll need to return all these here animals back to the cottage, I'll be sure to talk to Flim so you get your bits back, and believe me I'm going to give him a hell of a scolding for this.” explained Applejack clearly very upset. She knew he was up to no good. All that ever came of those two was trouble and where there was trouble there was a heck of a mess to clean up afterwards. She would fix this though, though she had to talk to Fluttershy. Though she couldn't help but pause in her steps. What if what she saw the other day was true? What if Fluttershy was falling for that con artist? Her eyes went wide eyed with horror at the sheer thought. She quickly shook it out of her head but she couldn't ignore the possibility. She really didn't want to hurt Fluttershy's feelings but she wasn't a liar either, she deserved to know what he had done. Applejack sighed, she knew this wasn't going to be easy. She decided to approach the situation cautiously but when she returned to the cottage, Fluttershy wasn't at her cottage when Applejack had arrived to talk to her, but when she did return Flim and here were hoof in hoof. She couldn't believe what she was seeing. She shook her head and looked again and it was still the same. Fluttershy really did care for Flim. Oh dear....now she was in trouble. She took a deep gulp of breath and kept herself hidden behind a tree.

Flim left Fluttershy's cottage as he glanced around making sure no one was in sight. He couldn't let things stand the way the were, he hurried and dashed off into the distance. Applejack wasn't even able to confront him about his actions but with him dashing off like that, she would now have time to sit down and talk with Fluttershy. She knew this wasn't going to be easy but being the element of honestly was never an easy thing, especially when it came to her friend's feelings. She knew the truth could hurt but she didn't want Fluttershy to be further lead into this pony's trap. He had already scammed her without her even being aware of it. Applejack went up to the cottage and knocked gently on the door as she would then wait for a response. She was trying to think of what to say once Fluttershy answered and right now it was hard because nothing she said would make it hurt any less.

“Oh Applejack what brings you here?” questioned Fluttershy as she answered the door, though she did glance around wondering why Flim had taken off so suddenly, all he told her was there was something he had to take care of but he wouldn't say what it was. She was worried about him, he seemed a bit tense and worried but she couldn't figure out why so she was hoping to get some answers when he returned.

“I reckon ya'll should know why I'm here. It's Flim he's up to no good I tell ya.” began Applejack. There was no sense in dragging things on, as hard as it may be, Fluttershy deserved to know the truth, and she was just the pony to tell her.

“Flim? What about him? He's doing really well to find a new purpose and I am quite fond of him. I understand you don't trust him but I'm willing to look past his past and help him become a better pony.” replied Fluttershy as she closed her eyes and held her hoof to her heart. She then looked towards Applejack, prepared to turn on her heels.

“Listen Fluttershy, you know I would never lie to you. He sold your animals to a farm! I watched him do it.” replied Applejack.

“I have been wondering where some of my animals wondered off too...but why would he do such a thing?” questioned Fluttershy towards her friend.

“Same reason he does everything, for bits, that's all they care about is how much bits they can make. I highly doubt he even wants to change, he is probably using you just like he used me.” replied Applejack.

Fluttershy didn't want to believe it, Flim had seemed so desperate to change and start a new but she also knew Applejack didn't lie. She couldn't help but sob at the thought as tears came to her face and she immediately grabbed for Applejack holding onto her as she sobbed into her neck. “Why? Oh why...I actually really liked him too. I thought I was seeing the real Flim and not just some con artist.”

“I don't know Fluttershy, but you know I'm always here for you. When that cheating piece of flith gets back you let me handle things okay?” she asked towards her as Fluttershy could only nod as she was at a lost for words. She couldn't believe Flim would do something like this, she knew that he had a bad past but he really had seemed genuine, she must be really gullible to fall for whatever he was planning because she was blindly falling in love with him and her heart ached just thinking about everything Applejack had just told her.

“You just take as long as you need Fluttershy. You let me handle this.” explained Applejack comforting her.

“No Applejack, I would like to talk to him myself. As hard as it may be I have to know the truth and hear it from his lips.” replied Fluttershy softly with a determined tone in her voice.

“If you are sure.” replied Applejack. She still didn't trust Flim or Flam but she couldn't help but wonder if there might be a reason behind his actions, she remembered what the zookeeper had said about Fluttershy not having time to herself, did Flim think she didn't tend to all her animals when she wasn't doing anything else? After all it was what Fluttershy was passionate about, she loved her animals more than anything else.

Though before Flim returned the zookeeper returned to Fluttershy's cottage with all the animals he had taken returning them back into her care once more. He apologized to Fluttershy for the misunderstanding and promised to speak with her from now on rather than listen to the words of a con artist.

“I forgive you. Just be more careful next time okay? I wouldn't want you to get in real trouble.” explained Fluttershy she didn't blame him really. None of this was his fault, he had just been caught up in one giant mess. She intended to find out what was going on though and she had to talk to Flim. The three of them waited but the moon rose into the sky before Flim finally returned. He look exhausted like he had traveled all the way to Canterlot and back.

“Fluttershy!” he began as he looked towards the zookeeper and then towards Applejack as a sweat drop ran down his face. Was he being ostracized?

Fluttershy stepped forward before Applejack could say anything as she looked towards Flim, not seeming like she was angry, but obviously she clearly was not pleased with things.

“Flim...you have some explaining to do.” began Fluttershy as she pointed to the zookeeper. “Is it true that you sold my animals to a zoo?” she questioned towards him.

Flim sighed, he couldn't lie to her, she deserved to know the truth even if it meant she would hate him. “Fluttershy, I was only doing it because I saw how busy you were taking care of these animals and it didn't seem like you had much downtime for yourself, so I figured it was a good way for me to get back onto my feet and for you to be able to enjoy yourself again, but now I realize it was wrong and I shouldn't have told this Zookeeper that you wanted more space. I should have talked to you first and for that I am deeply sorry and I will completely understand if you hate me.” replied Flim as he bowed his head down towards the ground. He wanted things to go good but he wasn't sure there was any good in the world if Fluttershy ended up hating him for his actions.

“Well Fluttershy it's up to you ultimately as to what you want to do with this rascal but I reckon I can lend you my lasso if he gets too out of hand. Maybe we should put him in a cage and see how he like it.” spoke Applejack giving Flim the death glare.

“I'd take that punishment over losing Fluttershy any day.” replied Flim.

“I'm not putting anyone in a cage, and I won't be needing a lasso either. I know you are just getting started again and are unsure of what to do. But what you did was still wrong and I can't just pretend like it didn't happen, but I may have an idea.” smiled Fluttershy as she looked to Applejack. “I bet you and the others could use a break right? Maybe Flim could use his magic to help around the farm.

“Whoo Fluttershy hold on here a second. I'm not sure I want him messing with magic around the farm.” replied Applejack.

“Come on Applejack he's really trying to apologize for what he did. Besides you can watch him right?” questioned Fluttershy.

“I guess I could, I know, you keep your eyes on him while Big Mac and I do our deliveries.” spoke Applejack.

Fluttershy nodded and looked towards Flim waiting to see if he would accept this or not. Flim nodded towards them.

“Very well I will gladly accept this. Fluttershy, I'm really sorry I shouldn't have leaped into action so quickly and I really should have talked to you first but I was lost and confused and didn't know what else to do.”

Fluttershy wrapped her hooves around his neck and embraced him softly. She whispered into his ear. “It's okay Flim, everyone messes up, but when you do you need to fix it and that's the right thing to do.” explained Fluttershy.

“So...you don't hate me?” questioned Flim with a worried look in his eyes.

“Of course not. I don't hate anyone. I get scared easily at times but I have never hated anyone. Though there was this one pony back in elementary school whom bullied me at Flight camp but Rainbow Dash was there to stand up for me.” replied Fluttershy.

Flim was glad to hear that and returned the hug softly. He wanted to kiss her but right now he knew that would be too much, especially with the actions he had done so far. He had to take his time to really gain her trust, regain her trust so that she would see the pony he really truly wanted to be, he wanted to be the stallion of her dreams but more than that he wanted to start a new and find a new purpose and he believed his purpose was to help Fluttershy in any way he could but he wasn't sure how he could use his marketing skills to help her. She really didn't need advertising but perhaps he could ask her what he could do for her, after all he was going to help the Apples with the chores on the farm but he really wanted to do something just for Fluttershy to show her he truly cared, he just had to figure out what she might want him to do for her.

Chapter 5: Actions speak louder than words

Phew! Working on an apple farm all day certainly wasn't easy work, it was demanding even using his unicorn magic. Flim was exhausted by lunchtime. He took a bit of a break and Applejack brought him something to munch on, it was a delicious apple pie.

“Why thank you so much Applejack.” smiled Flim softly. Flim wondered why Applejack always gave him the evil look but at least she wasn't demanding that he get off her land since he had to work here for what he had done. He knew he had caused trouble but he really hadn't meant to. He was able to think a lot about who he was and what his purpose in life truly was. He looked towards the clouds and couldn't help remembering the good ole days when he and Flam would travel from place to place coning ponies into buying their gimmicks and making themselves a hefty nice profit but now he had no bits, no brother and no life. He would make a new life for himself he wasn't going to let his sadness get the better of him, and if Fluttershy was able to believe in him then he could at least try for her if nothing else. The rest of the day went rather well, he even managed to finish all the chores Applejack had assigned to him. He was quite proud of himself but she still wasn't trustful of Flim and asked him to leave at the end of the day. Flim understood and he wasn't about to begrudge Applejack's feelings. Flim headed off the farm but he wasn't ready to head back to Fluttershy's, he wanted to head into Ponyville first. He had to find a job, a real job and one that perhaps he could use his salesman's skills to his advantage. He walked into the town and he couldn't help but note how the ponies gave him suspicious glances. It was easy to see just how the ponies of this town felt about him.

He glanced to his side noticing someone by Sugarcube Corner Flim then saw Twilight Sparkle hurrying in his direction, and she didn’t look happy.

“What are you doing here?” questioned Twilight Sparkle as she was out running errands for an upcoming event and everything had to be perfect. Of course Spike was right there by her side.

“I'm here looking for a job, do you know anyone looking for help?” said Flim nervously with a sweat drop running down his face.

“Why do I find that hard to believe and where's Flam?” asked Twilight, after all with her role as Princess of Friendship it was best to at least try to give Flim the benefit of the doubt but still she wasn't sold on him being here after what she knew from Applejack.

“Listen, I know I haven't been very trustful, or trustful at all for that matter but I'm done with scams and cons. I want to be a different kind of pony, I want mares and colts to look at me with respect rather than distaste. I want to change, I want to be myself, so please just give me a chance," said Flim as he held his hat under his neck holding it against his vest near his heart. He really did want to change. Flim knew it would be hard but he knew actions spoke louder than words.

“Alright...well it just so happens I know someone that could use your help.” smiled Twilight willing to lend a hoof, even to someone like him. She took him over to a merchant's stand, it was Maud Pie whom had set up a rock stand in the middle of Ponyville.

“Twilight what brings you here?” Maud asked in a very dull tone, emotionless as she stared at her rocks and wondered why ponies weren't fascinated by the many different rocks she had on display.

“Oh I'm just out about running some errands for an upcoming festival and you know everything has to be in order, but actually I have another reason for being here. You see Maud, Flim here is looking for a job and I could think of no better job than advertising your rock stand to the public and getting them interested in seeing the many varieties of rocks you have, who knows maybe he could even make you some bits. I mean it is what he's good at. What do you say?” smiled Twilight.

Maud shrugged. "Sure, it could be fun." replied Maud her expression not changing in the slightest, her expression didn't seem to change or seem excited, that was more her sister's thing.

“Well...I'm willing to give it my best shot!” replied Flim eager to get started, of course he knew it would be difficult to sell people on rocks. Flim took his place in front of the rock stand, standing just a bit to the side, so all ponies could get a view of the spectulacle he was about to put on.

“Everyone stop what you are doing for I have something spectacular you don't get to see every day! Rocks of all various shapes and sizes. And don't be fooled, you can't find anything quite like this in all of Equestria!” announced Flim towards the crowd. The ponies of ponyville did glance over to Maud's stand and at first people didn't seem to care that much about it, but Flim used his skills of marketing to convince them to stay and a few of them even listened to Maud as she explained about the different types of rocks. Flim felt pretty good about himself and not all the ponies were drawn away by him being there. And he was quite surprised when Fluttershy stopped by at the rock stand.

“Oh hi Flim what are you doing here?” she questioned. She didn't see why Flim would care about rocks.

“I got a job, I'm promoting Maud's rock stand, it's getting quite popular now that I am doing the marketing for it, and don't worry I'm not even trying to sell the rocks, some ponies just like learning about the different varieties from all parts of Equestria.” replied Flim softly with a serious tone. In no way was he trying to harm anyone or really make a profit in all this. He had to prove he was a good pony now for people to believe he was really serious.

“Oh, that's wonderful. I'm glad to hear you're doing well. It's certainly a nice change from the last news I heard.” said Fluttershy softly.

“Would you like to learn about the many different kinds of rocks from all across Equestria? Quite frankly the limestone and marble are quite fascinating to learn about. It's hard to believe you can find limestone right here in Ponyville.” explained Flim with a warm and sweet smile.

Fluttershy giggled softly as she lifted her hoof to her lips as she couldn't help but find this all quite silly but at the same time, it was showing that Flim did care even if marketing something like this was rather a silly thing and a difficult thing. “Flim would you like to come by my cottage later tonight for dinner?” questioned Fluttershy.

“I would love too.” smiled Flim as he couldn't help but lean down to softly place a kiss upon her hoof. “You are quite lovely today.”

“Oh why thank you.” blushed Fluttershy a bit embarrassed at the gesture. “I need to get some things for Angel, see you later. It's good to see you again Maud as well.” smiled Fluttershy before she wandered off.

Flim couldn't help but to admire her from afar, she was just so graceful in her steps and her beauty readied through the entire town. Then he remembered he had a job to get to and decided to focus on selling the perspective of well rocks...how dull and he wasn't even trying to make a terrible rock pun.

Flim couldn't wait to see Fluttershy again, he was really having a good vibe that things were going in the right direction for once in his life. He wished Maud Pie a good night as she wrapped up her stand for the day, once the sun was beginning to set and he made his way towards Fluttershy's. He wasn't going to let the past get to him not anymore not when he had such a bright and wonderful future to look towards too and well he really wanted to kiss that future. He arrived at Fluttershy's cottage, knocking on the door, as he stood nervously, waiting for a response.

Fluttershy answered the door shortly, wearing a simple yet elegant dress of course it looked amazing on her and he was starting to wish he would have worn something nicer, he didn't really have any bits, but he was sure he could have managed to pull something together in a dash.

“Wow, you look radiant tonight Fluttershy.” he smiled towards her as she leaned down to kiss her upon the hoof in a gentleman like manner, after all he wasn't going to pull off actually kissing her, at least not yet. He really really wanted to, but he wanted it to be perfect. After all she didn't deserve just any stallion she deserved the best, and he wanted her to know he would do anything for her, even if it meant selling rocks to Tartarus he'd give it his best. He had a feeling Fluttershy wasn't going to ask anything that crazy, she seemed to be a very simple mare.

“I made some tea would you like a cup?” she asked softly.

“I would love a spot of tea, your tea is always pleasant to the palette.” smiled Flim as he sat down on the couch across from where she was sitting in her chair. He wandered what they might be having for dinner but he was sure
that whatever it was it would be wonderful.

“I made some sandwiches for us tonight, I hope you like them.” smiled Fluttershy softly as she went and retrieved the sandwiches, setting sat them down upon the table. Fluttershy then sat down and offered the sandwich plate towards Flim. “Go on try one.” she offered.

Flim took a sandwich taking a bite, and it was the most delicious thing ever. It was amazing. “It's wonderful. Almost as wonderful as you are.” he couldn't help but add that.

“Oh Flim I'm no pony special.” replied Fluttershy with a soft pink blush.

Flim couldn't believe what he was hearing, she was more than just some pony and he was just the pony to show it to her but she might need a bit of coaxing. Perhaps his skills were useful for things other than advertising and business, Perhaps he could use them to find love?

Chapter 6: Just a Kiss

Flim took a bite out of his first sandwich and just like he thought, it was rather delicious. “Wonderful, splendidly tasting, unlike anything I've ever had in a long while.” he then complimented her, and he knew that it wasn't hard or difficult to make a simple sandwich but it was just the way it was put together and he could tell how she put such care into something as simple as making a sandwich.

Fluttershy couldn't help but blush softly and look away at his comment. She was sure that Applejack could beat her hands down when it came to cooking, baking and well most things after all she was a farmer, Fluttershy was really best with animals, and her work often had her studying recipes and the best way to cook things for her animals, especially Angel as he had to have his food prepared just right. Though she couldn't help be lost in thought as she realized maybe she knew more about food than she had first realized. “Why thank you Flim, really this means so much to hear that.” smiled Fluttershy softly. “I heard from Maud that you are doing quite well with her stand.”

“Oh yes that, it really wasn't that hard, I mean I guess to some the prospect of selling ponies on rocks could be difficult, but I am Flim and this is what I've always been good at, marketing! And for once in my life I'm not even trying to make a profit from it.” explained Flim with confidence as he looked up towards the ceiling, his eyes closed as he spoke before once again opening his eyes and grinning widely towards Fluttershy.

“Oh my that's wonderful.” replied Fluttershy as she suddenly flew over and embraced him softly. “I'm so happy for you Flim, things are really looking up for you. I knew you had in it you. Everypony deserves a chance to show what they could be. Even I changed, I used to be very skittish of almost everything, even my own shadow frightened me but after I helped the breezies I was able to learn that there is such a thing as being too kind and it helped me become the pony I am today.” explained Fluttershy to Flim as Flim listened to her as she spoke about the lesson she had learned. He was still learning a lesson each new day, and every time he was around her, he learned something new and wanted to better himself and be a better pony because of her. Flim couldn't help but want Fluttershy to see just how amazing she was but she wouldn't just believe him saying it, he had to find a way to show her but how? He couldn't help but be selfish and right in that moment think about how amazing it would be to kiss her. He quickly shook the thought out of his head, after all how would that show her how simply spectacular she was?”

“Flim?” questioned Fluttershy as she had noticed he seemed lost in thought.

“I'm fine no worries I was just thinking about how lovely you look today and how I wish you could see it the way I see it.” explained Flim calmly as he smiled towards her.

Fluttershy just giggled softly. “Oh Flim...you really are a great salespony, I bet you could sell hay to a horse.” smiled Fluttershy softly with that soft shade of pink rose across her cheeks.

“Well that wouldn't be too hard after all horses do enjoy hay.” replied Flim with a chuckle.

Fluttershy sat down right next to Flim and this was beginning to get more awkward but in a cute adorable kind of way. He was nervous, so he continued munching at his sandwich. He didn't want to finish it too fast. After all once supper was over he would likely be on his way, and he really wanted to enjoy this short time with her while he had it.

The two sat and enjoyed dinner together as they each talked about their days, of course at least to him, her day was far more interesting even if all she had done today was help a baby duck find it's mother and get home once more, it was a cute little story, just as she was a cute little mare.

“Thank you so much for coming Flim, you are always welcome to visit but well it's getting kind of late. I think it's time for me to head on up to bed.” began Fluttershy with a slight yawn.

“Oh it was no trouble at all, thank you for inviting me.” smiled Flim softly as he would stand up from the couch and make his way towards the door. He really didn't want to leave just yet but he understood she wanted her space but before he went, he just couldn't help himself, he embraced her softly. Fluttershy was a bit startled by this as she hadn't expected it but she returned the gesture and hugged him back. Flim let go of the hug first as he stared into her loving eyes, he wanted so much just for a kiss.

“Fluttershy...can I ask you something?” he questioned obviously quite nervous about his question, a slight drop of sweat running down his face. He kept himself steadied and took a quick gulp of breath while awaiting her answer.

“Of course you can always ask me anything. What is it?” she asked softly. She was looking right back at me, eager to hear what he had to say.

“Can I kiss you?” he asked nervously.

“Oh.” replied Fluttershy who's cheeks were a bright shade of red now. “Um...I don't know do you think we should?” she questioned unsure.

“I know I care for you and I want to show you how much you mean to me. Just one kiss I promise.” he offered.

“Well...I suppose.” replied Fluttershy but before she even uttered another word, his lips met hers in a deep and tender kiss, he wrapped his hooves around her wings and pulled her body closely against his. He wanted her to kiss him back, he was dying inside to know she felt the same way about him, that she really did believe in a different kind of magic, the magic of love.

Fluttershy hesitated at first but once his lips met hers and he began kissing her, she couldn't help but feel this strange sensation come over her. It was like the warmth of his body was spreading to hers and it felt rather nice, yes that's how she'd put it. She wrapped her hooves around his body, her hooves around his neck as the two held each other tenderly as they shared quite the intimate kiss. Fluttershy broke it off first, mostly because she was nervous about the whole thing, it was her first kiss and she had never really imagined that she and Flim might become a thing. Of course she imagined that no one would have imagined that, especially not Applejack but it seemed he really was trying to make a new life for himself and proving himself to be quite the businessman here in Ponyville.

“Well Flim, it was rather lovely to see you, same thing tomorrow?” offered Fluttershy.

“Of course I'd love too.” replied Flim with a warm smile. He still couldn't believe it, he had kissed Fluttershy and she hadn't objected to the idea of it. His head was on cloud nine and he wanted to do something for her, more than anything he wanted to have success here in Ponyville, he knew his job with Maud wouldn't' last forever so he was going to need to start looking for a more permanent one, but he had a feeling with his skills and his knowledge of marketing and sales that any business would be lucky to have him working for them. Nothing could get him down now, nothing at all. Everything was perfect, he knew he didn't need Flam in his life to be successful. He still couldn't believe how they had broken off like that, he missed his brother but he wasn't going to let that hold him back. Though what he saw next had him speechless, standing in the center of Ponyville was none other than Flam himself.

“What are you doing here?” questioned Flim obviously still upset his brother had ditched him.

“What do you mean what am I doing here? What are you doing here? I've been searching all over for you. You think you can just walk out on me? That's not how this works my good dear brother, you need me, just as I need you.” replied Flam.

“No...I don't need you and I'm not going to fall for your tricks again. Now leave me alone.” replied Flim as he turned his head in a huff and walked off leaving Flam to stand there in the center of town.

“Why the audacity of that pony! I'm going to ruin him....” he spoke with a twisted grin on his face, the only question was what was Flim doing here in Ponyville? He knew very well that Applejack wouldn't trust him further than she could throw a centaur so she was the one that he might be able to pick up clues from. He knew he couldn't do anything tonight but if he had his way he was going to ruin Flim so that he wouldn't have any other choice but to rejoin him at his side and return to Las Pegasus to help him run the resort as a pair rather than him having to manage all the finances.

Chapter 7: Asking for Trouble

View Online

The sun was shining brightly when Flim awoke for the day with a slight yawn, as he stretched out his hooves. He stood up and got himself ready for another day, he wasn't about to let Flam get to him. He could try all he wanted to convince him to come back, but he was starting to learn that a real friend wouldn't have let him go in the first place. Flim wanted Flam to see that just maybe Applejack and the others had the right of things. Flim also knew that if he had just trusted Flam's words he might have just betrayed him all over again and he wasn't about to take that chance, not when he had a second chance for himself here in Ponyville to change his life, change himself and maybe even find a happiness he had never known. He wanted love.

Flim walked into Ponyville and noticed that Maud was closing up her rock stand. He couldn't help but wonder why she was deciding to do so after his success with getting ponies of all kinds to actually care about rocks.

“Hey Maud, might I ask why you've decided to pack up your rock stand?” questioned Flim.

Maud turned to look towards him as she had been preoccupied with packing her things up. “Well you see I have other places I want to go to further study the various varieties of rocks and their histories. Did you know that people often mistake granite and rock salt?” questioned Maud Pie towards him.

Flim didn't know a lot about rocks but even he knew the difference between Granite and rock salt. “Well, they can be easily mistaken, it all depends on the shape and weight of the rock.” replied Flim.

“Sorry, seems you will have to find a new job. Goodbye.” replied Maud Pie with a simple wave towards Flim as she began hauling her cart behind her, and just like that she was on her way.

“No need to apologize my dear pony, this is just the opportunity I need. It's a chance to really show just what I can do in this town.” smiled Flim with a positive outlook and a certain shine to his self esteem. He was fully confident he could find another job in no time at all, after all this town could really use his help. It was just the little quaint town with no problems, well most of the time, and he had to figure out how to really SHOW them that. He stroked his chin as he thought about what he could do for the town, and if there was any pony that could help him, he knew it had to be someone from the town. And whom better to ask then the very pony he was falling in love with. He'd ask Fluttershy, but now he had told her he could do this and if he really wanted to show he was a changed man, he had to show her he could stand on his own four hooves without having to lean on her. The only thing he worried about was Flam. If he knew his brother and no one quite knew Flam like he did, he was probably plotting something against him at this very moment and he couldn't waste another precious second of his time. He would have to make a name for himself and he would have to do it quickly if he wanted to survive in this town. He couldn't fail, and he swore for his sake and for every pony he wasn't going to let his brother win, not this time. For the first time his life he had a purpose more than he had ever known before. Fluttershy...if not for her kindness where would he be? On the streets alone with no pony and no one to even listen to what he had to say, but she had been willing to open her home to him without even a second glance. She was the reason he had gotten this far and he wasn't about to let her down now, not when he had come to care for her. Flim scanned the town for any signs of his no good brother but he was nowhere to be found. If he wanted to find his brother he had to think like his brother but whatever he was up too, he knew it wasn't good. He decided not to worry about it for the moment and focus on his side of things, but at the same time the nagging feeling at his neck just wouldn't go away, and he had this itch that something bad was going to happen if he didn't find out Flam's plans but if he didn't find a job he wouldn't survive in this town and he refused to rely on Fluttershy's aid forever.

“What the hay are YOU doing here? I thought it was bad enough with one of ya around and now you show up on my land?” questioned Applejack rearing with anger but she had to keep herself from doing anything rash as of yet he hadn't actually done anything that she could use against him. She knew Flim showing up was a bad sign, and it was just asking for trouble with both of them here.

“Why Applejack I'm appalled that you would think in such a way. Why ever would I want to harm you? I mean you and your friend did help my brother and me out at Las Pegasus. I'm merely here to take my brother home, we had a fight, he ran out in a huff and now I've come all the way here to bring him home with me. I promise you once I find my brother, we'll be out of your mane in no time at all.” smiled Flim with that sly all too familiar grin of his.

Applejack just raised an eyebrow at this and starred right back at Flam with that look in her eyes.

“Why in the heck would I trust the world of a lying, conceiving snake like you.” questioned Applejack as she bumped muzzle to muzzle with him maintaining eye contact so that he was sure she knew she had the advantage in this little exchange and she wasn't about to be swindled so easily. No way not after everything they had done. She wasn't about to trust either of them, heck she still didn't trust Flim let alone Flam. She knew she had to find out why he was really here.

“I realize we haven't let the best impression on you my dear Applejack but really we've changed. We aren't trying to deceive any pony and we're making quite a name for ourselves.” smiled Flam.

“You realize no matter what story you come up with, I'm still not going to believe one little word of any of it. But what I do believe is that you and your brother are nothing but trouble and I want you BOTH to leave!” replied Applejack as she turned on her heels and walked away from Flam not even bothering to see what he said.

Flam just sighed after she walked off, it seems his plan to use Applejack against his brother wasn't working out as well as he planned, but she had said one thing that would help him. She didn't trust either of them. If he convinced the townponies themselves that they couldn't trust Flim, Flim would have no choice but to leave town and come with him. No one had to know that they shouldn't trust him either, he had a wicked grin prose upon his muzzle.

“Hello Flim it's good to see you again, I heard that Maud packed up her rock stand. What are you going to do for a job now?” questioned Fluttershy as she was out about in the town gathering medicine for one of her sick animals, the poor little thing had a fever and she had to hurry to get the medicine and get back quickly, but she could at least see how Flim was doing before she headed on home. She was worried about him, worried he might rely on her for everything and even she couldn't support him like she had wanted too. She could help but that's all she could really offer.

“Oh don't you worry your little heart now Fluttershy, I'm going to make a name for myself in this town and I found the perfect place to work, for Sofas and Quills, I'm going to market their projects all across Equestria. Of course it would be even easier to do so with an eye in the sky, think you would mind hanging some banners up in the clouds?” asked Flim with a soft smile and a bat of his eyes. He knew this would work, Fluttershy knew he needed help.

“Oh I suppose I could do that, but I can't do it right now. I really need to get home to my poor bird, she came down with a horrible flu!” replied Fluttershy.

“Well then you need to get home right away. Don't worry about me for now I've got a pretty good handle of things. Plus I got to sign some forms for the owner of the shop here. Go on, go to your animals, they need you more than I do.” replied Flim as he pushed her back in the direction of her cottage. Fluttershy couldn't help but see that there really was a change with Flim, before he had only cared about money and now he was starting to care for her, and even wanting to show care for her animals that he didn't even have to care about but was still willing to try. She knew there was good in every pony, even a pony like him. She only hoped she could get the rest of the town to see it that way, especially Applejack. She knew how much Applejack had lost because of the Flim Flam brothers but Flim was trying to change himself for the better of others, he was finally seeing the right of things, and Fluttershy wasn't about to give up on him, just as she knew her friends would never give up on her. It was her turn to be the support to someone else's journey.

She hurried on home to her sick animal and went to tend to it but by the time she got there Flam was standing by the door of her cottage. She wasn't one to immediately jump to conclusions but she had this nagging feeling in the back of her head.

“Flam? What are you doing here?” questioned Fluttershy, wanting to tend to her animal but he was kind of blocking her way into her cottage and she could hear Angel inside pounding against the door, Flam must have it blocked she thought horrified.

“Fluttershy, it's so good to see you again, I wanted to thank you for helping me and my brother out back at Las Pegasus, without your help we would've been fighting forever, and you and Applejack reunited us as a team, but my brother and I, we had another fight and well he went off in a huff, and I've come to get him back, but I'm afraid he doesn't see my side of the story and won't listen to a word I say. I was hoping maybe you could get him to once again reunite with his brother. All I want is to be a family again.” smiled Flam with that same sly conceiving smile that said he was up to no good and not a word out of his muzzle was truthful.

“Listen Flam, I'm sure it's very important to Flim too that you two get back together as brothers but I need to tend to my animals and currently you are keeping me from them.” spoke Fluttershy.

“Well there's a very simple reason for this, I'm not about to leave until Flim comes with me of his own free will, and I'm willing to do whatever it takes, even if I have to use a sick animal to do so.” smiled Flam.

“You heartless monster!” spoke Fluttershy as she hurried to fly past him as quick as her wings would carry her, crashing through the door and landing right on top of Angel. She probably had splinters in her hooves but she didn't care, she went right to her sick animal to begin treatment for it. She was so preoccupied that she had no idea what Flam was doing.

Flam used his magic to seal the door and keep Fluttershy and her animals from getting out. Perhaps he could use Fluttershy's kindness to his advantage and finally give his brother a reason to come back with him, Fluttershy's freedom.

“Hey who locked the door? Flam what are you doing?” questioned Fluttershy confused as she couldn't budge the door an inch.

“I'm doing what I should've done from the start. Using the kindness and love of this town and these ponies to TAKE what's mine back with me. Flim will be with me once more whether he likes it or not!” with that Flam left Fluttershy to her cottage it wasn't like she could go much anywhere without getting through her front door.

Fluttershy looked towards Angel who had this little smile grow on his lips as he rubbed his paws together. He looked around and began to think, he knew his owner wouldn't think like he did so he quickly went to gather tools for making a door and showing them to her and even instructing birds to come through the small window. Angel wasn't about to let just some pony control his friend.

“Oh Angel! This is so wonderful. This won't be easy though are you sure you can all do it?” she asked and of course Angel nodded in response. Fluttershy got out of her cottage, but she knew she couldn't waste time, she had to warn the others. She hurried on over to Applejack's. She knew she had to tell Flim about his brother before things got out of hoof. Fluttershy just hoped they weren't already too late.

Chapter 8: Making Amends

Fluttershy had to hurry there wasn't much time to spare. She ran as fast as her hooves would carry her, she had to tell Applejack. She panted as she finally made it to the farm and took a second to catch her breath.

“Applejack!” she shouted not seeing her in the fields. She glanced around and noticed Big Mac plowing the fields. She hurried on over to where he was. “Big Mac, have you seen Applejack?” asked Fluttershy softly.

“Nope,” replied Big Mac softly.

“Do you know where she is?” questioned Fluttershy.

“Yep.” and he pointed his hoof towards the town.

“Oh dear...” replied Fluttershy. Maybe Applejack was just gathering supplies or visiting Twilight. She just really hoped she hadn't already fallen for Flam's scam of wanting to help his brother. The only thing Flam cared about was bits and she knew for a fact that Flim really did want to change, and she knew the kiss they shared hadn't been fake. She believed in him, she really did care about him and wished the best, and she began to wonder if she was falling for him, but he wouldn't be safe for long. Not if Flam had his way. She had to hurry!

Fluttershy hurried into Ponyville as she looked all over for Applejack. She had no idea where she might be, but she had to find her before Flam did.

“Applejack? Where are you?” she asked as she had to stop in midst of a dash to catch her breath.

“Fluttershy, why are you in such a hurry?” questioned Twilight whom just happened to be on her way to Sugarcube corner to get an order she had placed a few hours earlier.

“I need to find Applejack, it's important. Flim...he's in trouble. Flam trying to ruin his second chance to have a new...start,” replied Fluttershy panting slightly.

Twilight Sparkle blinked as she had to listen carefully to what Fluttershy was saying, she was sure she got it, Flim was in trouble from Flam?

“Alright so Flim is in trouble but why would you need to tell Applejack? She doesn't trust either of those ponies.”

“That's exactly why I need to talk to Applejack! Flam is planning to use our kindness to his advantage to get his brother to come back with him to Las Pegasus. And if I don't stop him he'll ruin what Flim has accomplished since coming here.” replied Fluttershy.

“Alright, calm down Fluttershy. We'll figure this out. Let's meet up at the Library in an hour. I haven't seen Flam around town so he must be planning something in the background,” replied Twilight in thought.

“Oh okay...but I still really think I should find Applejack,” replied Fluttershy.

“Find me for what?” questioned Applejack as she had just come out of Sugarcube corner with two empty baskets on each side of her, That had apples in them, and she had delivered them to Sugarcube corner.

“Applejack!” smiled Fluttershy as she hugged her closely. “Oh, I'm so glad I found you.”

“Ahem, it's good to see you too Fluttershy, but what's all the fuss about?” questioned Applejack a bit confused.

“It's Flam he's up to no good.” began Fluttershy.

Applejack raised a brow at Fluttershy, glanced over towards Twilight with a shake of her head. “When isn't he up to no good?”

“Um...well never?” replied Fluttershy.

“Exactly, the Flim Flam brothers are nothing but a nuisance, I'd be happy if they both up and left this town for good,” replied Applejack.

“Applejack, Flim isn't the pony he once was, he's changed really I know, I've seen it first hoof.”

“Listen, Fluttershy I realize that you are willing to give any pony, any one a second chance but I just can't trust him after what he did in the past.”

“Please Applejack, you have to believe me. Flam is going to use you to get Flim back. He's planning something and I'm not sure what but you've just gotta believe me...please,” cried Fluttershy tears rolling down her cheeks.

“Fluttershy...Listen I really wish I could... began Applejack. "I just can't...even if I wanted too, I can't trust him. He hasn't really proven anything yet.”

Fluttershy ears flopped down and a frown appeared on her face, with a sad look in her hues. Twilight put a hoof onto her shoulder.

“Don't worry Fluttershy, I'll make sure that doesn't happen okay?” smiled Twilight softly, wanting to at least attempt to cheer her up.

“Oh, thank you Twilight,” replied Fluttershy as she couldn't help but wish Applejack could see it too, but she also knew why Applejack felt that way. She wanted to find Flim, but she had no idea where he was now, last she knew he was looking for a job so that he could get a new start here in Ponyville. She had to find him, before Flim did.

Flim had just finished talking with the manager of Quills and Sofas and had gotten a job with them. Apparently, all they cared about was his history and success of being a good sales pony and they knew that denying him was beyond idiocy. Flim smiled as he walked out the door, but what he saw when he walked out the door didn't surprise him in the least, and an annoyed expression crossed his features, his eyes focused on the pony now standing in front of him, with that same all too familiar smirk on his face.

“Flim...it's so wonderful to see you.” smiled Flam with a plan in mind. He knew how to manipulate ponies to his advantage, he wasn't going to let Flim just leave without a fight. And he would win...

“It won't work. I don't care what you say or what you do, I'm not going back with you. You of all ponies betrayed my trust and threw me out on my own, and I've been given a second chance here in Ponyville, and you brother won't ruin it if I can help it.” replied Flim in a huff as he turned on his heels to walk away.

“I wouldn't be so hasty if I were you brother, after all if you don't come with me, I'm going to use the kindness of this stupid town to get you to leave. Ponies will feel sorry for me and want to reunite us and before long you'll be driven out of this town.”

“Really? That's your elaborate plan? Brother you've lost it. You just don't have talent without me by your side. We were best as a team and you should know it,” replied Flim.

“Of course I know! No team better than us. Can't you find it in your heart to forgive me?” questioned Flam.

“If I believed you were serious I might consider it, but you're just trying to manipulate me now and I'm not blind, nor am I stupid. Leave this town Flam, I don't need you to find success. I'll find it on my own without your help,” replied Flim as he walked away without letting Flam get in another word.

Flam just smiled, it seemed this town was famous for turning a crooked pony good, but he wasn't finished here yet.

Flim couldn't help but sigh to himself and wish even for a brief second that Flam had really come here to make things right, but he knew it was simply another lie. He knew his brother better than anyone else, and that's why he knew he had to be careful. Who knew what he might do now. He had to talk to Fluttershy...though in all honesty he was wishing he could talk to Applejack about what to do but he knew he wouldn't get anywhere with her. As far as she was concerned this town would be better off without either of the Flim Flam brothers and as long as he was here, so would Flam be. Flam wasn't one to give up on a heist or a scandal and this was no different. He would pull off his own tail if it meant he got what he wanted. Flim sighed, what was the right thing to do? He couldn't help but wonder if maybe leaving was the best thing he could do. After all, Fluttershy had given him hope in a new beginning but perhaps that new beginning wasn't in Ponyville. The only way to fight his brother was to play his own game and he knew if he left, so would Flam and then he could take care of things his way. He wouldn't leave without seeing Fluttershy though, he wanted to at the very least, thank her for all she had done. With a sigh and a heavy heart he made his way towards Fluttershy's cottage. As he knocked on the door, then he noticed something rather peculiar, the door seem to be jammed from the inside. He managed to pull it open with his magic as he walked in to find it mostly empty, except a mess of materials on the carpet and Angel up on the chair sitting feet propped up on the coffee table enjoying a carrot.

“Is Fluttershy home?” he questioned towards the rabbit.

Angel just looked towards this strange stallion, he knew it wasn't the one whom locked them in here because he didn't have the beard but that didn't mean he trusted him one little bit more. He just shrugged his shoulders and hopped off.

“I'm guessing that's a no,” replied Flim with a sigh. He had been hoping she would be home, but he guessed he was just having false hopes. He had to do what was right for the town, no matter how much it would hurt his heart to not see Fluttershy for who knows how many moons. He wrote a note with his magic and left it on her coffee table.

“Dear Fluttershy,

"I am truly touched by your kindness and your willingness to accept any pony into your home, despite their past history. Thank you so much for everything you've done, but now it's my turn to do what's right, even if doing what's right is so damn hard. I love you Fluttershy. Goodbye.

Your friend, Flim."

With tears in his eyes, as a teardrop landed on the note, he turned on his hooves and began to head out of town. He dropped by Quills and Sofas and let him know that he would be out of town for some time and had to drop the job opportunity and once that was taken care of, he left Ponyville. He had no idea where he would go now, all he knew is that wherever he was, Flam was sure to follow and Ponyville would be spared from his schemes and mischievous acts.

Twilight returned to her castle, alongside Fluttershy. She had to compose her notes of what she knew about the two brothers, which wasn't a whole lot, besides the obvious. The two were obviously very good business ponies, and they could convince any pony to buy just about anything. After all she had heard from Applejack about the tonic they had sold to Granny Smith and how it had made her realize no matter how hard the truth could be, you had to be honest or you could end up hurting a pony's health and feelings. Flam seemed to be more well rounded overall. Even though the two worked together, he was in charge of the plans, and Flim was much better at drawing in the attention of the crowd, and when the two were together, they were like a match made in heaven, if there was such a place. Of course, she had studied theories about it, but that wasn't important now. She was deep in thought as she composed notes separating the differences of each brother on her board. If Flam had a plan to use the town's kindness then Twilight had to have a backup plan, on the off chance his plan even remotely worked. Granted, she was almost positive it wouldn't.

Come on Twilight, a plan to use the town's kindness to get his brother back? It was beyond ridiculous. There was no way anyone would be convinced that he was really serious about apologizing especially after what Flim had told Applejack and Fluttershy. Though suddenly she realized something, if Flim really did change, like Fluttershy had said then what if he left town in order to protect them from whatever Flam was planning. If there was one thing she knew, if Flam really wanted to get his brother back, manipulating his own brother to do exactly what he wanted, wasn't out of the question. She didn't want to alert Fluttershy, she was worried enough as it was, but once the rest of the gang arrived, she would arrange a plan to get rid of Flam once and for all. Even the magic of friendship couldn't help every pony, she had realized that now.

********8

Fluttershy was really concerned about Flim and she really hoped that everything would turn out okay, she couldn't help but worry. She knew Twilight would know what to do, Twilight always seemed to have a plan even when times were tough, she was always there right by her friends, as they all had stopped evil ponies from taking over Equestria. Of course, she hadn't always been that helpful, but she was just happy to be among friends and she had even gotten braver because of it. She had even done something no pony thought possible, she had reformed Discord, and he really was a sweetheart when you got to know him. Fluttershy knew any pony, any one discovered a second chance and she began to wonder if there just might be a way to resolve this whole mess peacefully, but even she wasn't sure how to get Flam to see that if he really cared about his brother, he wouldn't care so much about their business in Las Pegasus. Oh dear...what was she getting herself into? Did she dare even suggest a thing to Twilight? Maybe...she should...or maybe not.... Oh she just didn't know. She was a mess. She couldn't help but to cry.

“Oh, Twilight what do I do?” questioned Fluttershy.

“You just try to relax okay? Every pony should be here any second now,” replied Twilight when Applejack came walking through the doors of the castle and sat in her seat by the cutie map table. “Well, I reckon I'm here, though I'm still not sold on the idea of Flim being good now.”

Right behind her was a very soft and sophisticated voice. “I'm here too darlings, really what is all the trouble?” questioned Rarity as she sat down at her seat. It wasn't even ten seconds until Rainbow flew through the door and took her seat. Pinkie was the only one missing, but they didn't have to wait very long. Very shortly Pinkie came bursting through the door all excited.

“I'm planning a huge party for Flim! He's going to love it. It's a welcome back to Ponyville, we're so glad you're good now party!” smiled Pinkie as she bounced up and down until she reached her seat.

Fluttershy then took her seat, as did Twilight as the six all gathered around the cutie map table. Though what truly surprised Twilight was how Fluttershy's and Applejack's cutie marks lit up and the map began to glow as it was sending them out of Ponyville and to an area not far from the dragons.

“Oh dear,” spoke Fluttershy.

“I reckon this can't be a good sign.” replied Applejack.

“The map chose you two for a reason. Fluttershy, you should probably check in at your cottage before you leave, I have a feeling...just a feeling you should go there,” replied Twilight with a sigh. If she was right, Flim would go to Fluttershy's before doing anything rash, she just hoped it wasn't already too late. If he had already left town then she might know just what the map wanted. It seemed she was learning more and more about the map each day, and she knew that whatever purpose it had in mind, only Fluttershy and Applejack could solve it.

“Okay. I'll go but Applejack, will you go with me? I don't want to get locked in my cottage again and I'll feel better with you there,” questioned Fluttershy with a big eyed look.

“Anything for you Fluttershy.” smiled Applejack wanting her to feel better. She stood up from her chair. “Well...we'd best get going. We'll see ya'll later.” Applejack waved towards the rest of her friends as she and Fluttershy would head for Fluttershy's cottage to see if Flim might be there or find Flam or some clue as to why the map called them.

It didn't take them long to get there but when they arrived Flam was standing there with a big smirk on his face.

“I've won. It's already too late, he's long gone.” he smiled holding up the note Flim had left. “Just like I thought the kindness of you ponies got into his head, convinced him that once I showed up the only thing he could do to get rid of me was to leave himself. Like I said, no one knows Flim better than me.” smiled Flam.

“Why I outta....” began Applejack, when it was Fluttershy that put her hoof up so that Applejack wouldn't do anything rash.

“Flam you should be ashamed of yourself. Flim was doing so well even without you, he even got a job with Maud for a bit and he was looking for another one. And then you came here out of nowhere suddenly wanting him back. Why would you say a thing like that just so you could keep your business? Shouldn't you be more concerned that your brother is trying to do the rest thing? You should really think about your actions. No matter how many lies, and no many how many ponies you manipulate, your brother was willing to give all of that up for a better life. Why can't you see it? Why can't you see that what your doing is wrong,” spoke Fluttershy.

“You think I care? I got what I wanted. Goodbye Fluttershy, see you later Applejack,” replied Flam with that all too familiar grin as he tapped his hat towards the two and walked off.

“Fluttershy...I know you are trying to help him but I'm not sure that even your help can get through to him. He just doesn't care about anything but bits. That's why the map called us...they want us to find Flim and bring him back to Ponyville and show him that leaving us wasn't the right thing to do. He wanted to spare our feelings so that his brother would leave town, and Flam probably thinks he's heading back to Las Pegasus, but he's heading out towards Dragon territory a place most ponies wouldn't even dream of going. Ah darn it, now I feel like a real piece of....” explained Applejack with a sigh.

“I think some pony owes Flim an apology.” smiled Fluttershy with a bright gleam in her eyes. Maybe...just maybe things would work out okay now that Applejack could see what she saw, Flim wasn't a bad guy, he had just been on the wrong path for so long, he didn't even realize there were other options, other paths he could take to gain success.

“Alright Fluttershy, let's spend the night here and we'll head out in the morning, alright?” smiled Applejack.

“Alright, I'll be ready, and Applejack....thanks.” smiled Fluttershy and with that the two went their separate ways for the night and would get ready for a hike towards Dragon territory come morning.

Chapter 9: Finding Flim

View Online

“Oh Applejack, I'm so worried what if one of those awful dragons got a hold of our friend?” she questioned in a concerned tone. She was terrified of dragons, well most dragons, she was quite fond of Spike but he wasn't like other dragons. He wasn't mean, big and scary...nor did he try to hurt ponies. She knew how dangerous dragons were which was all the more reason why they couldn't linger. They had to find Flim before something terrible happened. Fluttershy shivered at the thought, but she hoped her fears were just that fears...She couldn't bear the thought of losing such a good friend.

“Listen Sugarcube, I know your scared but Flim isn't just some pony. He knows what he's getting himself into. Why else would he even go out here? My guess is he's trying to fool his brother into going home by acting like he's gone so he went to the one place his brother would never look. Dragon territory.” explained Applejack as she placed her hoof gently around Fluttershy's neck and nudged her head against hers in an effort to comfort her.

“Thank you, Applejack, it really means a lot to hear you say that about him.” smiled Fluttershy softly as she wrapped a hoof around Applejack and the two hugged briefly. Fluttershy had to focus, she couldn't afford to get distracted or be frightened by the prospect of going into dragon lands, she had to find Flim and she had to let him know just how she felt. He had a right to know, especially after the letter she had found in her cottage.

Applejack and Fluttershy both walked out of Ponyville and towards Dragon Territory, though it would take a little while to get there. Applejack wondered if it might've been better to bring Spike along but there was no sense in turning tail now. She would just have to see this through. Applejack still couldn't believe that Flim actually wanted to make a change for himself, though she was starting to realize more and more that when it came to Fluttershy, anything was possible. After all she had reformed Discord so who's to say just what she could do? Applejack was awful proud of her, she sure had come a long way from the shy little pony she had gone on a journey with to gather the elements of harmony and defeating Nightmare Moon. Whew! She had to shake herself out of memories of the past as they were quickly approaching dragon territory, though she couldn't help but notice how Fluttershy didn't seem scared about the dragons, though she was more worried about Flim then she was about the big scary dragons that she usually did.

“Oh I hope he's alright.” spoke Fluttershy with a concerned look as they entered the dragon lands. They weren't seeing any dragons in the immediate area but that didn't mean they weren't aware they were there and just waiting to ambush them.

“Hey guys look it's ponies!” spoke Garble with a huge smirk on his face. “We should attack them.”

“I don't know, you really think that's a good idea?” asked another dragon who knew if Ember heard about them attacking ponies she wouldn't be very happy with them.

“Ah come on! Am I the only one here that actually acts like a dragon? All of you are weaklings. Just watch me and see!” he spoke as he flew out towards the two ponies, flying directly towards Fluttershy, in an attempt to grab her in his claws and carry her off to make her panic.

Just before he grabbed her, he felt his whole body freeze and it was like he couldn't move even a single claw. His eyes widened as he then realized he was being held by a unicorn's magic. “Stupid Ponies. I hate all of you!” he grumbled towards the ones he could see.

Applejack was about to put herself in harm's way to prevent Fluttershy from being grabbed but right before she got there, Garble was being held frozen by unicorn magic and not far behind him was none other than Flim himself.

“Now, that's not the way you introduce yourself to such lovely ladies.” smirked Flim as he let Garble fall to the ground with a loud thud. Garble then quickly got up and ran off before they could do anything else.

“Flim!” smiled Fluttershy as she tackled him down into a hug. “Oh I'm so glad you're okay. You're not hurt are you?” she questioned realizing that she was on top of him so she then got off of him.

“I'm fine, Fluttershy, I appreciate your concern but I know how to handle dragons, now my brother that's an entirely different kettle of beans.” explained Flim towards Fluttershy as he stood up dusting the dirt off his coat.

“Ain't that the truth.” replied Applejack with a nod. Applejack couldn't help but take off her hat holding it against her neck as she looked towards Flim. As hard as it was, she knew it was right. She took a deep breath before speaking, “Flim...I'm real sorry about not believing a lick of what you said, when you first came here to my farm. I just couldn't believe anything either of ya'll said after what you did to Granny. I just couldn't look past it. It was short sighted of me, and I realize now more than ever that I should've at least listened, but instead I turned you away without a care in the world, for what happened to you. That's not right and for that I truly apologize, I only hope you can forgive me.” explained Applejack.

Flim couldn't help but smile softly towards Applejack and Fluttershy. Flim never thought he'd ever hear those words. “I accept you're appology Applejack. I understand why you didn't believe me but what made you believe me now?” he questioned looking directly towards Fluttershy and then back towards Applejack.

“Well... Fluttershy told me about what your brother did, and how you were willing to leave Ponyville and give up on a new future just so we could be burdened of having to deal with your brother. It was that act, and saving Fluttershy from Grable that's truly made me realize that you were truthful when you came here, and that I didn't even give you a chance, and I should've. Truly, I am sorry.” replied Applejack as she then placed her hat back atop her head.

“No need to apologize again, Applejack. I understand you had your reasons. My brother is he gone?” questioned Flim concern in his hues showing for his fellow pony.

“Yep, as soon as he heard lick of you leaving town, he assumed you went right back to Las Pegusus. He'll feel real sorry when he discovers you aren't there. Ya'll know he's just going to come back right? I realize you thought leaving was your only option, but ya got to understand this Flim...we need you.” began Applejack.

“Need me?” questioned Flim who couldn't believe what he was hearing. He had to look towards Fluttershy.

“What Applejack means is that you know your brother best...you know how to stop him from doing something to hurt the town. You can help Ponyville in a way you were never able too before, and it would show everyone, even the doubters, that you really do want to change for the better.” explained Fluttershy softly.

“Oh...” replied Flim as he rubbed a hoof behind his neck rubbing it and sighing softly. He never thought he'd see the day where he'd be helping Ponyville and fighting against his brother's scams. They were right though. He couldn't just run away from his problems. He realized now more than ever, he had to face them head on, and if he never confronted Flam, nothing would ever be accomplished. He smiled towards Fluttershy and Applejack. They had come all the way out here just to find him, and Fluttershy had been concerned for his safety. Truly this warmed his heart.

“We probably should get back. I really don't like dragons much...well except Spike.” spoke Fluttershy softly.

“Yeah I reckon you're right, no sense in dawdling around.” replied Applejack. They turned around and they could hear Garble in the background getting a scolding from Ember and with a slight smile on his face, Flim was heading back into Ponyville, but he couldn't help but have this lingering feeling in the back of his mind. He wondered just how Fluttershy felt about him, and wondered if she had ever even read his letter, he didn't even want to think that she had just ignored it. He was sure she would have read it...she had to right? A drop of sweat ran down his brows and his teeth chattered slightly, so when Fluttershy spoke up suddenly, he about jumped up in the air like a scared little colt whom was afraid of a monster under the bed.

“Flim...there's something you need to know...and well it's not about your brother.” began Fluttershy softly. She wasn't quite sure how to go about this, she wasn't even sure what Applejack would think, but she knew how she felt in her heart. She couldn't deny that she cared for Flim as more than just a friend. There was so much more to him than most pony's even realized.

“What is it Fluttershy?” he asked softly. He didn't look at her the same way he would've if he was trying to swindle some pony. When he looked at her, he saw not only a friend, but a mare whom he wanted to spend the rest of his days with. He only hoped she might feel the same about him, but how could he hope for the impossible? He was just so grateful for even the chance to be around her, and to be accepted by Applejack was truly a miracle. So what came next, truly surprised him.

“I read your letter, it was very sweet but yet sad, when I thought of never seeing you again, it really really hurt. I don't want that. I want you to be a part of Ponyville and more than that, I care for you. I think...I think I love you.” spoke Fluttershy with a soft deep flush of pink that rose to her cheeks. She couldn't help but want to hide behind Applejack but she had more composure than that. She was determined to see this through.

“Really? You mean it?” questioned Flim, hardly able to keep from embracing her in a deep embrace, while kissing her passionately.

Fluttershy nodded and before Flim could do anything, it was her that embraced him in a passionate, loving hug as she looked back towards Applejack, inviting her into the hug as well.

“Nah, you two should have this moment to yourselves.” replied Applejack respectfully.

“Thank you Applejack.” smiled Flim, as he brushed Fluttershy's mane out of her eyes as he stared at her, admiring her beauty, but more than that, admiring everything about her. He leaned down, his frame being a bit taller than Fluttershy's as he pressed his lips to hers in a deep kiss. He couldn't help himself, he pulled her tightly against his frame as he wrapped both his hooves around her and held her close but not so close that she wouldn't be comfortable in his arms.

Fluttershy returned the kiss, she hesitated at first to do a deep kiss but when he wrapped his hooves around her, she felt safe in his arms, and returned the kiss. The two held onto each other for a few minutes before Fluttershy broke off the kiss. She smiled up towards Flim.

“You're more than welcome to live with me at my cottage until you find your own place.” smiled Fluttershy.

“You can work on the farm anytime if you need some extra bits, we could certainly use the help, and gathering apples would be a heck of a lot faster with that magic of yours.” smiled Applejack towards Flim.

Flim couldn't believe it, he couldn't believe this was real. He felt like he might wake up and realize it was all just a dream. He wanted to pinch himself to make sure it was real but he knew it was real, because he knew love like this wasn't just a dream...it was reality, and he was loving every second of it. He smiled towards the two wrapping a hoof around Fluttershy as they walked back towards Ponyville. Now there was only one piece of business to take care of...his brother...and that was no easy task. It was going to take teamwork and they were right about one thing. The only one whom knew how to stop his brother was him. After all the two of them had worked together for so long, it was very easy to see how Flam had manipulated his emotions but he wasn't about to let him win so easily again, no not this time. This time he was going to stand his ground for he had something worth protecting...Fluttershy...for her....and for the town but mostly for her.

Chapter 10: Flim vs Flam.

View Online

Flim knew it wasn't going to be easy to get his brother to forget about him and move on with his career, but Flam would never have success if he had anything to say about it, and this time he not only have one friend on his side but many.

“Thank you all for coming here today.” began Twilight as the main six sat around the cutie map table. Flim was sitting on his rump next to Fluttershy's seat. “Now Flim would you care to tell us the plan you had in mind?” questioned Twilight towards him. She glanced towards each of the ponies whom had gathered here today. She couldn't help but notice how Rainbow Dash looked rather bored at being here, Pinkie Pie was all eager to throw a redemption party for Flim, Rarity was busy discussing details of a new line with Spike who was starring at Rarity, more than actually listening to her. Fluttershy sat silently, and Applejack was waiting to see if Twilight had a plan. Twilight always had a plan right? Applejack couldn't help but wonder after all there wasn't a whole lot any of them knew about the Flim Flam brothers. There best hope was Flim's knowledge of his own brother. Normally that would be a betrayal of family but in this case, Applejack knew there was no other options...

“Come on can't we just get on with it already? I know how to get rid of Flam, let's pound him into submission.” suggested Rainbow.

“Now...Rainbow...there's no reason for violence. We can find a way to solve things without violence.” replied Twilight in a stern tone.

“Be a lot faster my way.” replied Rainbow crossing her arms across her chest, her wings together against the back of the chair, as she slouched back, wanting to get back to rereading the latest Daring Do book. Besides why was she needed anyways? It wasn't like she had anything to do with it. If it wasn't for Fluttershy asking them to all meet up here, she would've booked it by now.

“This isn't about you. I think ulimately it should be up to Flim as to what action we take now.” replied Twilight. She knew how Rainbow was, they all knew which was why everyone needed to be here or else they might try taking action into their own hooves and that never tended to have any good results.

“Well...honestly Twilight, the best way to beat Flam is at his own game. We'll have to convince him that he's better off without me. His business won't do him any good if he's not there to promote it himself.” explained Flim softly in response towards Twilight.

“Hmm...well then I reckon we'll be relying on you to get anywhere with this.” began Applejack. “I really don't like when families fight but this is one instance where it can't be helped.”

“I don't like it either personally but after what he said and what he did to me...He has to be put in his place.” responded Flim. “More than that, he locked Fluttershy in her own cottage just to get back at me and that is just unforgivable!” explained Flim in a huff. It was very clear that he was upset and beyond frustrated at this whole ordeal. He just wanted peace of mind, he had left Las Pegasus because he knew wherever his brother was, he wouldn't be able to have the peace of mind he wished for. He just wanted to have a purpose other than conning ponies, he was truly ready for a change, he only wished his brother could feel the same...but even Fluttershy might not be able to change him.

“Oh...I wish there was something we could do.” spoke Fluttershy. She wasn't against the idea of trying to help Flam. Though she had this niggling feeling he wouldn't listen to any pony except himself...

“We should all be happy and have a party! I mean come on how often is it that Fluttershy redeems a bad guy?” smiled Pinkie as she blew on a party whistle and let balloons fly into the air.

“Oh I didn't really do much. All I really did was lend a listening ear.” smiled Fluttershy with a soft blush.

“Ah come on Sugarcube, we all know you did more than just listen. You did something I couldn't do...” replied Applejack with a heavy sigh. She still felt really bad about it.

Fluttershy couldn't help but blush deeper, she wasn't talking about their deep kiss was she? No she couldn't be talking about that. She felt Flim wrap a hoof around her and kiss her cheek softly.

“No need to be nervous, I'm right here with you every step of the way.” he smiled towards her as he nuzzled her affectionately.

Pinkie's eyes widened at this display of affection and she let out a surprised “Oh...I get it.” she smiled. “I am going to need more party supplies now. No worries, I got this.” she smiled and almost seemed to wink at the audience.

“Pinkie what are you doing?” questioned Rainbow Dash with a questioning glance. Man Pinkie could be really weird at times.

“Ah nothing.” replied Pinkie innocently. She couldn't help but giggle.

“Now if we could all just focus on the matter at hand we could form a plan instead of just sitting here.” replied Twilight trying to get everyone back on track.

“Isn't that what we're already doing darling?” questioned Rarity who had remained pretty quiet until now. There was no need for her to get too absorbed into this. She knew Rainbow would be rash, it was just oh so typical of her.

“Yes, Rarity it's good to see you playing attention.” replied Twilight. Twilight sighed to herself. She really hated it when things began to fall apart. She wasn't sure they would be able to help Flim, if all of them couldn't even focus.

“Whatever do you mean dear? I have been listening this entire time, that doesn't also mean I can't think of what to do for my next fall line.” explained Rarity calmly, holding her hoof against her chest defensively.

“Everyone...listen my brother is a cheater, a scammer, but more than anything he's my brother which is why I'm the one who has to put a stop to all his games. I have to confront him and no matter what plan we come up with, it all comes back to what I do. I have to do it. I have to face him head on, as much as I hate to admit it, Rainbow has a point. Pinning him to the ground might be the only way to get through to him.” explained Flim.

“Ha! See?” smirked Rainbow suddenly paying more attention and sticking her tongue out at Twilight.

“Alright Flim, if you're sure about this, we'll leave Flam up to you. We just have to focus on protecting this town.” replied Twilight.

“I'm positive, Twilight..., began Flim. “I have to be the one to do it, I'm the only one that could get through to him.”

“I understand, and I respect your decision, just all I ask is that if you need anything just tell us. We're all here for you, Flim.” smiled Twilight softly.

Flim never thought he'd hear those words out of any pony, he never thought anyone would even believe him. It was hard not to get teary eyed with the emotions he was feelings but he held himself in a composed manner, mainly because he knew now they were relying on him to stop Flam from doing something awful. And he knew Flam was one to do whatever it took for a scam, it wouldn't be any different now. Flim stood up leaving them to discuss among themselves as he made his way outside. He passed by Starlight Glimmer who smiled towards him and stopped him in his tracks.

“I just wanted to say if you ever need any pony to talk too about anything you're more than welcome to come to me. I understand how hard it is to find your path when most ponies are so absorbed in your past.” explained Starlight softly.

“I appreciate that Starlight, truly it's been amazing just to be forgiven for my past actions. I'll be sure to come to you if I need anything.” replied Flim as he nodded towards her and continued on his way. He knew Flam would return. It would be some time for him to get back here, but there was no doubts he'd be back and as silly as it was to think he had to think of this like an old classical western showdown. Only thing was his gun wasn't going to be used, he wouldn't resort to violence if he didn't have too. He wasn't about to go back to a past, he had left behind. He was determined to be good now, and none of this would have been possible if Fluttershy hadn't believed in him. He was so grateful to her, and hearing her words of care and passion for him in return was more than he could have ever asked for. He loved her, and now he knew she felt the same. Once things with Flam were taken care of, he was going to earn his way to getting her a ring and proposing. There was no doubt he wanted to spend the rest of his life with that mare, with that amazing mare that was Fluttershy.

Flam couldn't believe it, he had returned back to the resort that he and Flim were now managing and it had started out to be quite a success but now without Flim's marketing knowledge it was beginning to fall apart. He was immediately questioned when he returned as to where Flim was and why the two couldn't agree on anything. Of course Flam told them it was just a misunderstanding and he would fix things, but at this point he wasn't sure there was a way to fix things without Flim helping him. The two had always been a team. He wasn't about to let Flim think he had won this little argument of theirs. He was right about which path to take the resort in next, but he needed Flim by his side to truly make it a success.

“I'm going to ruin him if it's the last thing I do!” muttered Flam to himself as he walked off in a huff away from the tension at the resort. He sat down in his office, his hoof resting on his chin, tapping a pencil to a blank piece of paper upside down eraser first. Flam had to think, clearly his plan to simply manipulate his brother had back fired on him but if he wasn't here and he wasn't in Ponyville then where the heck was he? He knew where to look though...Fluttershy. It was clear she would know but she wouldn't tell him anything. No way she'd trust him after he locked her in her cottage. And no pony around here was going to fall for him using them either. He was conflicted but he knew his best chance to save the resort from falling into some pony's hoof was to return to Ponyville and question Fluttershy. He'd get answers out of her one way or the other, even if he had to kidnap her. He wasn't beyond doing something crazy to get what he wanted and he knew his brother had a thing for that mare. It might just be the very thing he needed to get his brother back. He needed that mare, suddenly a huge smirk came across his features. His eyebrows raised in a malicious motion. “I'm coming for you Flim, and this time I'm calling the shots.” he spoke to himself like Flim was standing right there in front of him. He was going to need some ropes in order to nab Fluttershy but he still had plenty of bits to spare and he could use the fact the resort needed help as a valid reason for buying ropes in the first place. He wasn't about to give up yet...no he wasn't going down without a fight.

He went to the local hardware store, after all it was the best place to buy quality rope. He'd best have a way to keep her quiet too just in case she tried to call for help so he ended up finding a scarf at a local department store nearby. Once he had the materials he needed, he couldn't help but smirk. Flim thought he was a good pony now, now he could prove just how good he was and once he was back here in Las Pegusus, that's when Flam would make his move. And without Flim in ponyville, he knew Fluttershy would be an easy target. He wasn't worried about her friends, if they caused problems he'd deal with them. Right now he was focused on getting Flim back to work with him on the resort. Once he had what he needed he would began packing what little he needed for the journey back into Ponyville. He knew what he had to do, all that was left was to execute the plan. It was about the middle of the day at this point so as much as he thought about leaving now, it was best to watch until morning but on the other hand getting a headstart would mean he would get there faster, he couldn't help but be conflicted about what to do. What was more important to him? Sleep or getting revenge on his so called brother? There was no doubts in his mind that he had to get revenge on Flim, and sleep wasn't really important so he decided to head out now. He knew it would be a long trip to get to Ponyville but he no longer cared what it took. In a sense he lost it completely and was only focused on one thing and that was revenge, it was beginning to consume him.

Flam knew that if he was his brother he'd stay far away from Ponyville in order to protect it so he wasn't worried about having to deal with his brother, but word would spread of Fluttershy's kidnapping and it would get Flim to show his face, and return back to Las Pegasus. Flam couldn't help but wonder just what Fluttershy would think of his return. His hooves wouldn't rest until his mission was accomplished.

Fluttershy had left Twilight's castle after Twilight had discussed a plan of action if Flam showed his face in town. She had a feeling the first place he'd look was her cottage, she was half afraid to even go home, so she had kindly asked Applejack if she minded her staying over at her place for the night. Of course she didn't seem to mind much.

“Of course Sugarcube. You really think he'll go to your cottage?” questioned Applejack as she held around Fluttershy who simply nodded in response. “Don't worry your little head now, I ain't going to let anything happen to Flim, you have my word on that.” replied Applejack.

“But...” began Fluttershy. If Flam read that letter...then he knew how Flim felt about her and she knew what that meant for them. Flam would try to use her to get to Flim. She couldn't go home but if she didn't go home her animals wouldn't get fed, oh she was just so conflicted...all she could do was lean on Applejack's support as she buried her face into her chest, a slight trail of teardrops running down her face.

“Oh Applejack...what do I do?” she asked concerned.

“Don't you worry, Fluttershy. You don't need to do anything. If Flim is thinking the same way you are, I'm sure he knows Flam's plan already. You just stay right here with me. He can't hurt ya here.” replied Applejack doing her best to compose Fluttershy. There was no sense in getting worked up in something that was out of her control. Everything was up to Flim now. Applejack couldn't believe it, but even she was hoping that he would win this little fight of theirs, because she had finally seen for herself that Flim really did mean what he said, when he was tired of it all and ready for a change.

The morning sun rose into the sky, as Celestia raised the sun, it was quite a beautiful spectacle to see but right now Flam wasn't concerned about the morning light, only that he was going to find Fluttershy and grab her. He knew right where to go and he knew that Flim would show up eventually. Flam knew he had to be cautious and calculated, but he also knew the ponies of Ponyville weren't as stupid and dumb as they had been the first time they had arrived in town. He made his way towards Fluttershy's cottage, one hoof step at a time. The whole time thinking of how to capture her without raising alarm to the others, especially her annoying little friends, Flim was the only one he cared about. He didn't even really care about Fluttershy, but he knew Flim did, which was why she was such a convenient target, he snickered to himself as he approached the cottage. What surprised him was that Fluttershy didn't seem to be home, but standing in front of her cottage was none other than Flim himself. Flam just calmly watched up towards him, hoping to make the best out of this strange opportunity.

“Brother! How good to see you. How has it been being a good hearted pony? Is it everything you've been dreaming of?” smirked Flam trying to get under his skin and make him realize that the best part about life was bits, there was nothing more worthwhile, besides money lasted forever, ponies didn't. It was a grim thought, but Flam would use any tactic he could.

“Don't even try it Flam, I'm on to your games, and I'm sick of it. Let's end this here and now, you and me. Winner take all.” offered Flim. He knew Flam was cocky and he believed he'd have an edge over him.

“Ha! If I win you'll come back to Las Pegusus and give up this precious little friendship thing?” smirked Flam liking this idea more and more.

“Yes, if you win, I'll come with you of my own free hoof, but if I win, you swear to leave this town, and never return.” replied Flim as he stood his ground.

“You have yourself a deal, my brother. Shake?” he offered his hoof up, smirking like the devil he was. He knew Flim was underestimating just how strong he was, he wasn't as strong as Applejack but still he could hold his own in a fight especially against the likes of his weak minded brother whom had fallen for such a stupid thing as friendship. Pfft!

Little did Flam realize it but Flim had become stronger because of his stupid little friendship and he felt that would be the key factor in who won their little bout of strength and magic. The two braced against one another, as Flim shook Flam's hoof in a shake and a nod. “On the count of three brother, one...two...three!” he shouted the last word as his horn lit up and magic sparked.

Flam's horn lit up as his magic sparked as each horn sparked against the other, as they headbutted one another starring at each other, each having an angry look in their eyes, but Flim's was more a combination of anger and sadness that his brother couldn't see things the way he did. It just wouldn't ever be the same... He wished his brother would still want to be a brother, rather than an enemy.

“Oh Applejack...I'm really worried about my animals...maybe I could just you know check on them for just a few minutes?” questioned Fluttershy. She couldn't help but worry, she knew Angel would be okay for awhile on his own...but his other animals really did need her. Especially her one bird who was getting over a terrible cold. He had to have his medicine every night, she couldn't afford to hide forever.

“I reckon a few minutes won't hurt nothing, but I ain't letting ya go alone. We'll go together.” smiled Applejack as she ruffled Fluttershy's mane slightly.

“Thanks Applejack, you're the best a friend could ask for.” smiled Fluttershy as she wrapped her hooves around her and gave her a big hug. Applejack returned the gesture with a soft and tender smile and a slight pat on the back.

“Anything for you Fluttershy, besides it's what friends do. Ya know? You're just like family and family's gotcha stick together.”

“Yeah...I know but...” began Fluttershy as her ears drooped slightly. “Most families stick together. I really wish Flam would just have listened to me. Instead he had to lock her in her cottage.

“Wait just a licking second here. Why didn't I think of it before! If Flim came here to me for advice, then I should try talking some sense into that....” began Applejack getting rather upset even at the idea of trying to talk to Flam. Family was important, and family should come before bits. Oh it had her angry than a Rattlesnake who's tail had been stomped on.

“Um...Applejack, I thought you hated Flim and Flam?” questioned Fluttershy rather confused.

“Well...I reckon hate is awful strong, more like really really dislike, but at least Flim has shown he's not a complete jackass.” replied Applejack.

“Applejack language!” spoke a familiar voice rocking in her chair. “Getting mad ain't never helped no pony.” explained Granny Smith.

“Sorry Granny.” replied Applejack. “I reckon we ought to get going, your animals need ya and all.” spoke Applejack.

“See you later Granny.” smiled Fluttershy waving towards her as she leaned down to pet Winonna before heading towards her cottage. She really hoped everything was okay...but then again she didn't even know what was going on. She wished she was better at this kind of stuff, she wished she could just deal with Flam on her own, but she knew she needed to rely on Applejack's strength, and her stubbornness. It would see them through any storm. She was rather surprised at what she saw when they arrived at her cottage. She looked horrified as she saw Flim and Flam in a magic duel, horn against horn, heads right up against one another, as each of them were trying to get the other to back down and neither was willing to give up the fight. She didn't even want to look but at the same time, she was worried about Flim, what would happen if Flam won? Would that mean that he would have to return to Las Pegusus? Oh...that would be horrible, she couldn't just let this happen. She tried to gather her nerves and muster courage but just when she was about to jump in between them, Applejack leaped into action, as she was now standing between the two brothers. She was facing towards Flam, as she was standing sideways so that Flim wouldn't get a nice view of her ass. She just gave Flam the look of an angry mare, and it was very clear she wasn't happy with him.

“Just what in the heck are you doing? You think you can just stomp on in here and take charge? It don't work like that. And secondly, how can you call yourself a stallion when you are willing to ruin your own brother's chance for a better life. You aren't his brother, you're just a manipulate little whiner, who didn't get his way and now has to find a way to get it back. I know your type. I swear Apple Bloom was more behaved than this when she was still a toddler!” spoke Applejack as she looked right at Flam. She wasn't expecting him to even response or acknowledge her, so when he looked at her, and began to speak, it surprised her but she couldn't believe the words out of his mouth.

“What brother? The brother I had is no longer a brother or let alone a friend of mine. He's left me for something as stupid as your friendship.” spoke Flam with a dirty scowl as he looked right back into Applejack's eyes, while glancing over to his brother for a brief second.

Applejack wasn't surprised that Flam would say that but about his own flesh and blood? His own brother? She couldn't help it, she raised her hoof and slapped him across the cheek.

“How can you say such a thing? He's your BROTHER! Doesn't that matter to you?” questioned Applejack standing her ground and wasn't about to back down. If anyone could get through to him, it had to be her. She knew that he hadn't listened to a word that either Flim or Fluttershy had said.

“And why should I care? My brother wouldn't fall for your little game. There is no such thing as friendship and love, the only thing that matter in life is money.” replied Flam.

Applejack was half tempted to hit him again but she knew that she could hit him all she wanted and he still wouldn't listen to anything anyone said.

“Ya know it's rather sad, that you think this way. Your brother is more of a stallion then you'll ever be. He's been willing to change his outlook on life, even risking his own life so that the ponies of this town could be safe from you.”

“Safe from me? I'm only trying to get my so called brother to see things my way. After all he knows we work best as a team.”

“Then why can't you change your outlook on life? Family is important, and gosh darn it if I'm not going to fight you over the importance of family over BITS!” replied Applejack, as her one hoof was digging a bit into the dirt beneath her. She was furious, and she wanted to get through to him but even she wasn't sure she could, but Fluttershy had shown with Flim that if you just took the time to know a pony, you could give any pony a second chance. Applejack didn't even like Flim or Flam but she still wanted to try even if it was a losing cause. Normally she never would've thought about doing such a thing, but she knew how important family was, and if there was any chance of getting through to him she was going to try.

Flam couldn't believe that Applejack thought he was going to listen to a single thing she said. All he wanted was for Flim to see it his way...but then he came onto a realization, Flim was trying to get him to see things his way. Neither of them was willing to budge an inch, it was just like the time that Gladmane had gotten them to fight against one another so that they wouldn't take his business from underneath him. Flam had always worked alongside Flim until that day and he realized more than ever that his business would never be the same without Flim at his side. He sighed to himself as he looked towards Applejack. He didn't want to lose out on his business but at the same time whate business would he have if he continued to fight like this? Flim was right about one thing, he would have nothing on his own. He couldn't even believe what he was about to say, but he knew it was right, and he might have never even thought about it, had Applejack not slapped him so hard.

“You're right.” replied Flam with a heavy sigh.

“Wait what?” questioned Applejack as again she couldn't believe what she had just heard out of his mouth.

“You're right, family is important and I was a fool to think that I could live without my brother, but I still don't believe in that silly little friendship thing, but if he'll compromise with me I'll leave him be.” replied Flam.

“Compromise how?”

“He can make the amusement park for our resort right on the outskirts of Ponyville and he sends money to the resort to help keep our resort open.” suggested Flam.

“Now wait just a second now brother, this was never about me coming back. I just wanted you to understand me and you weren't even willing to listen to reason before now.” replied Flim with a confused look.

“And I wanted you to understand me, sure we have our issues, but Applejack is right, we have to stick together.” replied Flam with a sad expression on his face.

Applejack calmly stepped out of the way of the two brothers as she walked over towards Fluttershy, whom had a big smile on her face.

“Does this mean what I think it does?” smiled Fluttershy hoping for the best.

“I believe so Fluttershy...I didn't even think it was possible. I reckon I must've gotten through to him.” smiled Applejack. She was still going to keep her eyes on him though, for all she knew he might still be trying to trick them and she wasn't about to be fooled so easily. Not just for Flim's sake, but for Fluttershy's as well. It was very clear to see the two were in love with one another. You'd have to be as blind as a bat not to be able to see how they felt for one another. Applejack had no right to say nothing about it, though she was happy for Fluttershy.

Flam looked towards Flim, and Flim looked back towards his brother as the two exchanged a simple glance before actually shaking hooves.

“Peace, brother, let us fight no longer. I'm glad to have a chance to talk once more and be with the real brother I felt I lost.” smiled Flim softly.

“I'm sorry Flim...I was just so swept up into making profits that I never even thought of how it made you feel. Forgive me?” he asked as he looked towards him with a slightly worried expression.

“Of course I forgive you. What kind of brother would I be if I didn't?” smiled Flim as he went up to Flam and gave him a big hug. Flam hestiated but then wrapped his hooves around his brother and the two embraced together in a loving brotherly hug. It looked awkward to most but to them it was a sign of the start of a better life, but more importantly it meant the Flim Flam brothers might actually both be on the right track now, and well Applejack knew Flim had changed, but she still wasn't sold on the whole thing but at the very least it seemed like the two were back together and on the right track. She could see how happy they seemed to be about it, she just worried it was all just a game to Flam, and she wouldn't let him hurt his brother like that. She was going to keep her eye on him, and if he did anything suspicious, she'd be the first to know. She couldn't help but notice something in his saddlebag, tipping out even slightly was a strand of rope. Applejack worked with rope a lot with herding and such so she knew that kind of rope was used for herding. What was he planning on doing with rope? Now she was even more concerned. She wouldn't ruin what seemed to be a happy point for them, so for now she was quiet, but she wasn't about to think that all was good and cheery. Flam still had a lot to prove in her mind, whereas Flim had already proven he wanted to change, when he had risked his own life for Fluttershy.

Chapter 11: Applejack's Stand.

Flim was glad that Applejack had decided to speak with the owner of Quills and Sofas and had gotten him his job back. Flim did wonder why his brother had all of a sudden seemed to change... it wasn't like him at all. Applejack had spoke with him briefly before he went to work, about making sure to keep an eye on Flam while he was at work.

“It's so good to have such a well known salespony as part of our team. We will be looking forward to seeing you succeed here with us at Quills and Sofas.” smiled the head of Quills and Sofas.

“Oh thank you, it's an honor to just have a chance to show what I'm really capable of, and for once, I'll be helping somepony, rather than helping myself...” replied Flim. Flim couldn't help but want to continue to prove himself as a good pony now. Though even as he stood there preparing him for the opening of the store, he couldn't help but wonder about Flam's intentions. Was he actually being sincere or was this just another scam of his? As much as he wanted to find out, he also wanted to believe there was hope for his brother but...he had this bad feeling in the pit of his stomach.

He knew he couldn't afford to be worrying about it right now...he had a job to do and he did trust Applejack's word. If he wanted to make a new start for himself, he had to protize what was more important, and his success was much more crucial then simply worrying over nothing, or at least what he hoped was nothing.

“Flim is everything alright?” questioned the salespony. “I don't mean to be a bother but you seem to be lost in thought, is there anything I can help with?” he asked politely. After all Flim and Flam were rather well known for their salespony skills of being able to sell a pony their own left hoof without them even realizing it, and that talent would go a long way in his shop. He couldn't help but smile softly as he reached out his hoof, putting it on his shoulder, looking towards him to see if he would talk or not. He totally understood that each and every pony was different.

“Oh it's nothing, I assure you I'm just fine. Just first day jitters.” smiled Flim. He didn't feel right about dragging another pony into his problems. It was bad enough that Fluttershy had to be involved in all of the drama with his brother. Of course Fluttershy had assured him that everything would be fine while he was at work, but still he couldn't help but wonder about the words of his brother and doubting if they were sincere or not.

“Oh Flam just wait until I introduce you to Harry. He's such a friendly bear, and he gives the best hugs!” spoke Fluttershy as she was showing him around her animal sanctuary but now she was looking for Harry whom often helped out with anything she needed.

“Yes, I'm sure he's quite the sight to see.” replied Flam with a bit of a sigh and a slight groan mentally, why was he doing this? The more time he wasted here in this town, the more the resort suffered but the only way to get his brother back was to play his little game of “friendship.” Though he didn't really see the point of Fluttershy introducing him to all of her animals. I mean he could definetly see potential in marketing some of the rarer ones but that wouldn't really help the resort at all so it didn't really matter to him what happened to her animals. Ugh...all he wanted was to get his brother back and the more and more Fluttershy talked, the more he rolled his eyes and scoffed at the whole ordeal. This was just simply a waste of his time, and he didn't have a lot of time to spare.

“Oh here he is. Hey Harry how are you today?” spoke Fluttershy towards her fellow friendly bear.

Harry came up from his resting spot as he stretched out his form, and scratched at his back, a sheepish yawn escaping his maw, as he then looked towards Fluttershy and gave her a big hug.

“I'd like you to meet my friend Flam, he's Flim's twin brother. He's looking to change himself for the better. Isn't that wonderful?” smiled Fluttershy as Harry looked towards Flam with a raised eyebrow as he scratched the top of his head. He then put Fluttershy down and offered his paw in greeting towards this stallion.

Flam really wasn't sold on talking to a bear...I mean sure he was sure why Fluttershy got along with these animals, it was kind of her thing but why would he care? Flam just smiled ever so slightly. “Um...hi there Harry it's nice to meet you?” he spoke up still thinking this entire thing was ridiculous.

Harry slightly nodded towards him as he raised his paw in greeting and the two shook hoof and paw. Harry then returned by Fluttershy's side nuzzling down in the grass next to her and letting out a long yawn.

“Well it seems like he's awfully tired today. You get some sleep now okay? I'll be back later on today.” smiled Fluttershy as she waved towards him and went back towards Flam.

“So what would you like to do now?” smiled Fluttershy softly. “I realize animals aren't really your thing. Oh I know how about we go see Applejack. I'm bet you would like seeing Apple Acres again.” suggested Fluttershy.

“Nah. I appreciate the gesture but the only place I want to be, isn't anywhere near here. I want to return to Las Pegusus and make our resort the most successful resort out there, but I can't do that alone. I need Flim to come with me but it seems that someone has inspired thoughts into his head of reception and even love....I wonder whom that would be.” spoke Flam with a glare towards Fluttershy.

“But I don't understand I thought you were willing to compromise to be with your brother again...” began Fluttershy who seemed a bit worried now, and she had every right to be worried, he was acting like he hadn't changed in the slightest.

“And now I'm going to remedy the problem, starting by taking the one thing he loves. After all it seems that's the only way to get through to him now.” spoke Flam as he took out his bag, and ropes and went to grab Fluttershy. Fluttershy tried to escape quickly but she wasn't that fast, and he used his magic to pretty much make sure she didn't escape as he tied her wings up to her body and put a scarf around her mouth so she couldn't scream for any pony's help as he shoved her into the bag, of course she struggled but luckily for him it seemed like no pony had seen what had just occurred. He had this evil smirk on his maw as he headed back towards Las Pegasus taking a detour right outside of the town to avoid running into any pony.

But what he didn't know was somepony had seen what had occurred and that pony was none other than....Applejack. She had been coming out to give Fluttershy a fresh batch of Apple's from her family's farm. Her basket dropped to the ground with a loud thud to the ground as the apples rolled all about the grass rolling from one side to the other. Her jaw dropped in shock as she was in disbelief but at the same time angered at what she had just witnessed here. And as much as she wanted to run after them and free Fluttershy, she knew she had to tell Flim or else, Flam might get exactly what he wanted and she knew that Flam didn't care about Fluttershy but clearly he was taking her in order to get to Flim. Applejack wasn't having any of it, she ran as fast as her hooves could muster, granted she was fast but she certainly wasn't as fast as Rainbow Dash was. So she had to hurry. She dashed in to Quills and Sofas in a heavy pant as sweat drops ran down her face.

“Flim! Fluttershy....she's been kidnapped!” shouted out Applejack as she managed to catch her breath.

“What?” questioned Flim as he turned to see an exhausted looking Applejack by the door. “You are joking aren't you? Please tell me this is just a joke...” he begged her.

“I'm sorry Flim....but it seems like all your brother cares about is bits, we should've known better than to trust the word of that lying....” began Applejack when Flim hushed her.

“Just as you had no right to trust me at first. My brother just doesn't realize what I know now, that friendships are worth fighting for, and if he can't even have the decency to face me himself. I am going to finish what I should have started back at Fluttershy's cottage, and I'm going to save the mare I love.” spoke Flim in a determined voice as he ran off in a hurry. Of course it didn't take long for Applejack to catch up to him.

“Granted, I realize why we are in such a hurry, but I reckon it'd be a lot quicker if we take a train there.” spoke Applejack.

“It'll take too long to wait for a train...we need a pegasi or a balloon. Something that will get us there faster. Who knows what he's going to do to her in the meantime.” spoke Flim with a worried look and a concern on his hues showing for the mare of his dreams.

“I reckon I could call in a favor from a wonderbolt, I guartnee she won't like this anymore than I do.” suggested Applejack.

“Where is she do you know?” asked Flim.

“Probably up in cloudsdale doing practice right now, so I reckon it would take awhile to get a letter to her from here. Ah gosh darn it. We might as well just handle it ourselves. We wouldn't want to overwhelm Fluttershy...” spoke Applejack concerned for her dear friend. She couldn't even imagine what she must be going through, and having to watch her being taken away was just horrible, there was no way she was simply just going to let him get away with this. Flim and her were going to get Fluttershy back and take care of Flam once and for all. Flim hated it but he was going to have to pretty much put his brother in jail for his crimes. Sometimes love had to be tough, and right now it was tough love that his brother needed, and maybe then they could finally get through to him. He could only hope...they weren't too late.

“Mmm!!!....” mumbled Fluttershy from within the bag and trying to talk through the scarf trying to get help somehow.

Flam didn't even care if she tried to ask for help, most ponies in this town just went about their day without a care in the world. Most ponies simply thought he got stuff from one of the many sales within the main stands of Las Pegusus. No one had time to question his suspicions or try to stop him from where he was going. Flam arrived at the resort, and hurried on up to his office where he let Fluttershy out of the bag, and grabbed a leash from his favorite dog and pony show and attached it to a hat pole in his office and clicked the leash part onto the rope that was holding her in place and keeping her from flying away.

Fluttershy wanted to cry but she knew it wouldn't really help her now, she knew this office was soundproof unless you pressed the microphone and she was way too far away to be tricky like she had been when Gladmane had been running the place. She still didn't understand why he was doing this, it had seemed like he had wanted to change so that he could be with his brother again. She couldn't believe all he cared about was bits. How could any pony want coins over their own brother? She just shook her head.

“You are a bad pony.” spoke Fluttershy with an annoyed expression on her face as she turned her tail towards him in an upset huff.

“You can call me whatever you want.” replied Flam. “I'm going to have my way no matter what it takes.”

“You should actually care about your brother. He's been doing so much to redeem himself in the eyes of the townsfolk and now here you are trying to ruin his reputation! I am not about to let you do that.” spoke Fluttershy defensively.

“Not much you can do about it now dear. You are my ticket to getting my brother back. If he truly loves you, he'll be here any minute now and I'll finally get what I want.” replied Flam with a devious smirk crossing his brows.

Fluttershy knew he was right about one thing, there was nothing she could do right at this moment but that didn't mean she had to do nothing. She had to find a way to help Flim, even if it was something simple and small, she had to try because she knew Flim deserved a second chance unlike Flam who had clearly shown that he didn't deserve any more chances. She just hoped Flim would be okay...after all she couldn't even imagine what she would do if it was her brother so she could only imagine what was racing through his mind now and what he might do to his brother for his actions.

Chapter 12: The Rescue

Flim hated this, why did it have to go this far? Kidnapping? There was absolutely no reason for Flam to resort to such an act, and yet despite his belief in his brother, once again he had been swindled. Flim sighed heavily to himself as he and Applejack hurried to make their way into Las Pegusus. Why had it come this far? What could have he done differently. He should have known that Flam had been up to no good the whole time, but he loved his brother, despite everything he had done. He loved his brother and wanted him to finally see the error of his ways. He suddenly felt a hoof resting on his shoulder, he turned towards Applejack.

“I can't even begin to imagine what it would feel like if my brother did something like this. Not just that, but I'm sorry Flim. I never even gave you a chance, and now here we are.” began Applejack.

“Don't be. I had no right for you to trust me after all I had done. I only wanted your advice, after all I saw how much you cared about family, and I had hoped to seek your guidance, what I found was something I thought I could never have.” replied Flim.

“Love right?” smiled Applejack.

“Yeah...Fluttershy she's my everything and I'd go to hell and back if it meant she was safe. Even if it means putting my own brother behind bars. I know what has to be done now. I only wish I would've figured it out before he had gotten to her. Who knows what he might be doing to her now.”

“Oh believe me Flim, if he harms her, he'll never hear the end of it from me. I will personally see to it that he pays for his actions.” replied Applejack.

“Thank you, that means a lot, it really does. Applejack, there is one thing I wanted to ask you.” he began hesitately.

“You can ask me anything, what's on your mind?” questioned Applejack.

“Well...I've been thinking about proposing to Fluttershy. We are dating now, I know but I want us to have a family. I want to be there for her in the good and the bad, but most of all, I love her and want to spend the rest of my life with her. Would you be my best mare?” questioned Flim.

“Oh...I'd be flattered. I would be honored Flim, but first things first, we gotta find Fluttershy and Flim and get them both back.” replied Applejack.

“Yeah, but finding them in this place ain't going to be no rodeo.” replied Flim. Applejack smiled even slightly, maybe she was rubbing off on him.

They finally arrived in Las Pegusus, the city was bustling with life, from one end of the street to the other. Ponies were going to and throw without a care in the world as to what others might be up to. After all this was a rather famous vacation spot. Applejack couldn't help but notice how one mare had to be dragged off by officers for falling unconscious in the streets, apprently she had a bit too much cider. Applejack looked towards the resort, Flam had to be there. He wasn't smart enough to go anywhere else, besides he wanted Flim to come to him so he would go somewhere Flim could easily find him.

“I'll take care of my brother, you get Fluttershy out of there, and don't turn back no matter what. I have to end this here and now.” spoke Flim with a fire in his eyes and a determined spirit. There was no doubt in her mind that he had changed, this wasn't the Flim she had come to know.

“Alright, I reckon he'll be here.” replied Applejack. Though getting to them wasn't going to be easy, it was like he said this was no rodeo.

Flim and Applejack walked into the main area of the resort. Most ponies didn't even look at them, or pay much mind to one of the mane six entering. Though Applejack was glad she wasn't drawing attention right now. That they could use to their advantage. Suddenly they heard a familiar voice over the loudspeakers.

“Thank you every pony for visiting our lovely resort, if you would look towards the entrance you will see Applejack, element of Honesty and good friend of the Princess Twilight Sparkle. Oh and today only half off all tickets to the dog and pony show!” and with that Flam's voice went off the mic.

Gosh darn it! When she got her hands on that no good two timing pony, she was going to give him a piece of her mind.

“Go Flim, I'll catch up.” said Applejack as she was surrounded by many of her apparent fans, and some of them wondering where the rest of the group was. She wasn't one for attention, heck she was pretty much a simple farm pony, and she was happy with that, she didn't need all this attention. She sighed as she hated that she felt bad for just leaving them there with sad expressions, but she had a mission to accomplish and Fluttershy was more important right now.

Flim bursted right into the office, as the door slammed against the wall with a loud thud.

“Brother, how good it is to see you.”smiled Flam innocently so. He motioned over towards Fluttershy who was still trying to get free of the ropes around her neck.

“You're no brother of mine, Flam....this has got to stop. You have to let her go, this has gone too far. This whole thing is between you and me. You didn't need to drag any other pony into this little mess of ours.” said Flim angered and bitter. The look in his eyes told a story of distrust and a loss of respect for his own kin.

“Why should I? I'm the innocent one here, rather than dealing with our problems, you just walked off without even saying goodbye.” replied Flam.

“I didn't walk off, I never would have left if you hadn't pretty much kicked me out like a piece of trash.” replied Flim.

“Now why would I kick my own brother out? That's a bit harsh don't you think?” smiled Flam putting his back hooves up onto his office desk, leaning against his chair with that all too devious smirk pursing on his lips.

“Stop playing these games. We all know how much you love to lie and decieve others. For once in your life, admit it, you are wrong.” replied Flim as he went right up towards Flam, knocking him back onto the ground, his chair underneath him. Flim's horn was right against his brothers.

“I don't want to fight you anymore. I want us to be the way we were but better. Stop this Flam. I've changed, it's time you see the light too.” explained Flim, a slight tear drop forming in his eyes. He hated this...why did it have to come to this? Why had it gone so far? Was there truly no hope for his brother? He didn't believe it, there had to be good in him, even if he couldn't see it himself.

“Fine, I baited you here like you bait a fish on a hook when you want a nice juicy one, but I wasn't wrong about the resort. It's been quite successful with the additions I have made, and imagine if you would've stayed we could have done this together.” replied Flam.

“We still can but you have to stop what you are doing now. It's wrong.” replied Flim.

“Like you have never done anything bad before. You have no room to talk.” replied Flam.

“You're right on that much, I do have no room to talk. I've lied to ponies and made them believe things that weren't true, but unlike you I'm trying to do some good with my talents instead of waiting it on myself. I want to help others, rather than simply helping myself to more bits, and if not for her believing in me, I might have never realized what I could be. I believe in you brother, despite everything, I believe there is good in you too, I just wish you could see it...” replied Flim.

Fluttershy hated seeing the two of them fight like this, but what could she do? She felt weak and vulerable so when Applejack bursted through the doorway, she was rather startled, but also relieved to see a good friend.

Applejack hurried to get the rope off of Fluttershy as she threw the leash out the window, then she mbraced Fluttershy in a caring hug.

“Are you okay there, Sugarcube? I'll never forgive myself if I let anything happen to one of my dear friends.” began Applejack. She briefly glanced over her shoulder, while holding Fluttershy, noticing the spat that was going on between the Flim Flam brothers. She took Fluttershy, by the hoof and led her out of the room, but she hesitated to go.

“No Applejack, I can't. Not yet. I have to do something.” she pointed to the two brothers.

“Listen, Fluttershy I understand how kind you are, but this is between them, they have to figure this out themselves. There isn't much we can do. Heck even I couldn't get through to him.” replied Applejack with a sigh. Why had she thought she could get through to a no good lowlife like him. Then again, she had thought the same thing of Flim when he had first arrived on her farm. She hadn't even given him a chance and when she tried to help Flam, he pretty much threw it right back in her face. She didn't want Fluttershy to get hurt like that. It was bad enough that he had been holding her hostage in this room for who knows how long.

Fluttershy wasn't doing this for Flam, no she was more doing it for Flim. She walked over towards the two brother whom were still tussling around, each one trying to gain the upper hoof.

“Stop!” yelled Fluttershy. Well as loud as she could get. Suddenly both of them stopped in their tracks and blinked towards Fluttershy.

“Is this really an answer?” questioned Fluttershy as she looked towards both of them with a disapproving glance. “You should know better. Sure families fight, but at the end of the day, you're still family, and family should stick together.”

“Fluttershy's right, as much as it was wrong of you to pretty much kidnap Fluttershy, there is no reason for both of ya to try killing each other over it.” explained Applejack.

Flim stood up and nodded his head towards Applejack and Fluttershy. Though when he wasn't looking, Flam went to take a cheap shot at Flim, but Applejack caught onto it and tackled him to the floor.

“You jusst can't learn can you?” asked Applejack to Flam whom she was now holding down. Not just for his safety but for Flim's as well. At least Flim knew when enough was enough.

“Applejack.” smiled Flam. “It's so good to see you again. Can we be civil about this?”

She really wanted to tear into him right about now, but she knew it wouldn't solve anything. It would only make things worse. Relucantly she got off of him and backed off despite wanting to give him a piece of her mind.

Though what surprised both of them was what happened next. Celestia appeared in the office room next to Fluttershy.

“Enough. Flam you must pay for your actions. Flim...how do you feel he should be punished?” questioned Celestia.

Flim bowed as he looked towards Celestia as he thought about what she had just said and how he felt. Truthfully he wished there was a way to avoid it, but perhaps it was the only way to get through to Flam.

“I do believe a few years behind bars would set him straight, at least that's what I would hope for him. After all, despite all he has done he is my brother.” replied Flim softly.

“Very well. Flam you are hereby under arrest for marenapping and reckless endangerment of a fellow pony. Do you have anything to say for yourself?” she questioned as she looked towards him with a cold hearted look. She knew better than anyone else how hard it was to punish kin for a crime, she had had to banish her own sister to the moon and every year she had regretted it, and wished there had been some other way.

Flam was silent. He didn't respond to Celestia or Flim. He stood up walking over to him, accepting his punishment. He briefly glanced towards Flim, with a smirk.

“I reckon it's over now. We can all go home.” suggested Applejack after Celestia had left with Flam.

“Home would be nice, I'm sure Angel and the others are awfully worried about me.” replied Fluttershy.

“Before we go...Fluttershy, there is something I've been meaning to ask you.” began Flim as he looked towards her affectionately.

“Yes?” questioned Fluttershy.

“Would you marry me?” he asked nervously as he reached into his pocket of his shirt and pulled out a ring. It wasn't a fancy one, but it was a simple elegant band, that he had spent all the money he had on. He knew she was his everything, and money meant nothing if it meant he could be happy with her.

“Oh Flim...I don't know what to say.” began Fluttershy with a soft blush. She hadn't expected such a thing. She never really thought about marriage, why would anyone want to marry her? She was so shy and always working with her animals. It was good to see that Flim had truly changed. She knew he must have spent the little bits he had on this ring, showing his love for her in it's simplicity. Fluttershy smiled towards him and nodded her head.

“Yes. I will marry you.” replied Fluttershy.

Flim let out an excited neigh as he wrapped his hooves around Fluttershy, standing on his backhooves. He didn't cry, even though he was unbelievably happy, he wouldn't shed a tear. Finally, he had a purpose and a reason for changing and the reason was her, Fluttershy....she was his everything. He would do anything for her, even send his own flesh and blood to prison. He only wished Flam would see his own faults so that he could become a better pony, but Flim wasn't even sure if Flam would ever see things the way he was now seeing them, in a different light. He did realize he very well could've been in Flam's shoes if not for Fluttershy's support and love. That thought was scary but he couldn't help but to think it. He felt a hoof upon his shoulder as he let go of Fluttershy, to look over his shoulder towards Applejack.

“Flim...listen, I'm real sorry about everything, but I would be honored to be your best mare.” smiled Applejack.

“Thank you, Applejack. Really. It means so much to hear you say that.” replied Flim.

The three of them then decided to head back into Ponyville. Of course no one really thought much of their disappearance, apprently Discord had shown up at Fluttershy's to mess with Angel but even he didn't suspect anything out of the norm, besides if Fluttershy was truly in danger, she never would've been napped in the first place.

Flim decided to announce his marriage to the ponies of Ponyville and not all of them were exactly thrilled about it, heck even Twilight asked Applejack about it and Applejack just smiled.

“He's not the same pony he once was, he's changed, and I believe it. Fluttershy has truly shown us all a thing or two.” spoke Applejack to the others. The most excited one was Pinkie Pie.

“Reformation party and a wedding! This is AWESOME.” she smiled with a bubbly grin.

Chapter 13: Wedding Jitters

~A few months later.~

“Oh darling, this is just fablous on you. You look absolutely radiant, a true maiden.” smiled Rarity as she was putting the finishes touches on the last alterations to Fluttershy's dress for her upcoming wedding in a few days.

“Oh thank you, Rarity, you are so kind to do this for me.” replied Fluttershy with a soft blush appearing on her face. She was beyond nervous, never before had she ever even really thought she'd be one of the first ones of them to be married, and to Flim. She was sure no one had expected it. Discord....well he had taken the news as well as he could. He was happy for her, yet sad that it wasn't him. Fluttershy had been glad to see Discord take the news so well despite her house being upside down for a few weeks. That was to be expected though. She saw as her friends walked through the door. Rainbow Dash tackled her first.

“Rainbow!” yelled Rarity, putting her hoof down.

“Oh come on Rarity. Fluttershy is getting married and you expect me not to give her a big embrace?” smiled Rainbow.

“Since when are you the lovely dovey type?” asked Rarity with a raised eyebrow towards Rainbow. This was certainly odd behavior for her of all ponies...

“Well...I'm not really into it myself, but I've always wanted the best for my good pal Fluttershy.” she smiled nuzzling against Fluttershy affectionately. The two would always be the best of friends. Though she was going to keep her eyes on Flim just in case. After all she wasn't about to let anyone hurt Fluttershy's feelings, or they wouldn't hear the end of it from her or her friends.

Applejack, Twilight and even Pinkie Pie walked in shortly after Rainbow Dash to congratulate Fluttershy.

“Congratulations Fluttershy!” smiled Pinkie Pie as she unleashed a party canon alongside a bunch of confetti streamers in the air. “This is going to be the best wedding ever!” Pinkie exclaimed with sheer joy in her tone.

“It sure is exciting, I reckon...” smiled Applejack softly. She had been with Fluttershy through thick and thin, and to see her happy, and about to be married, it almost brought tears to her eyes, but she kept her composure. After all this was a rather happy moment.

“Fluttershy...I'm so happy for you, we all are, but are you sure about this?” questioned Twilight.

“As sure as I've ever been. I care deeply for Flim, and I believe he has proven beyond any doubt that he is a different pony now. He's changed.” replied Fluttershy.

“It's a big decision to be married, I wouldn't want you to rush into it.” replied Twilight Sparkle. She wouldn't admit it, but she couldn't help but feel a tidbit of jealousy. She had often wished to find love of her own someday, sometimes she wondered if she intimiated other ponies from each approaching her. She sighed to herself, she knew not to fret with her own ordeals. Today, was about Fluttershy and she would do all she could to help prepare her for the wedding.

“Thanks for helping me out Big Mac.” smiled Flim in his dressing room. He couldn't help but pace back and forth in his room. He knew this was only the reharshal but he couldn't help having pre wedding jitters. Big Mac said it was normal, but he felt like he was panicking.

“Yep.” replied Big Mac. Big Mac along with Applejack hadn't exactly been that sold on Flim being a good guy now, but after hearing the story from his sister's hooves, it was clear that Flim wasn't the same pony he used to be. Now as long as he didn't go casting spells they'd be okay.

“Phew! I'm beat, can any pony tell me where a dragon can get a gem around here?” questioned Spike as he walked into the dressing room. “Hey Big Mac, we still up for hoofball later?” he questioned.

“Nope, wedding is tommorrow. Applejack and the family, we'll all be attending.” replied Big Mac.

“You do know that won't take up the whole day right? What about evening?” questioned Spike.

“Yep.” smiled Big Mac.

“Awesome!” replied Spike. He was going to get that rare hoofball card that Big Mac had, and he was sure he had enough trades this time to actually get it. He couldn't wait.

“Hoofball you say? That sounds rather fun, would you mind if I joined you two someday?” questioned Flim.

Big Mac and Spike looked towards one another and then back at Flim, after much discussion.

“Sure why not. The more the merrier.” smiled Spike. “Now to get me that gem, I'm sure there has to be one around here somewhere.” he spoke as he wandered off.

“It's amazing how Twilight gets anything done without his help.” smiled Big Mac.

Flim took a few deep breaths, as he looked into the mirror, looking at himself in his tuxedo with the pink bow that Rarity had suggested to match the pink and white dress that Fluttershy would be wearing down the aisle. Of course Flim had asked Applejack if she minded if Apple Bloom and her friends wanted to be the flower girl and sure enough, the three had been more than excited to be in another wedding.

Flim couldn't believe he was here in this moment. It all felt so sureal, like he might wake up any minute and find himself unhappy and alone once more. He quickly shook the thought out of his head. No...he wasn't that pony anymore, he was a new man, a pony worth love and attention. He rather liked this kind of attention and now he had a successful job to boot, right here in Ponyville. He wasn't sure where he was going to take Fluttershy for their honeymoon. He hadn't quite decided that yet, but he was sure he'd pick a wonderful place. With how much she enjoyed her animals, a quiant little cottage out in the woods might be a good place, but not the Everfree forest, he knew of a few other wooden areas not too far from Ponyville where the two of them could go after the wedding was over.

Flim just had to get through the reharshal and the actual wedding, before he even thought about the honeymoon.

“There's no need to be nervous, you'll be just fine.” spoke a female voice as she entered the male dressing room.

“Starlight?” questioned Big Mac a bit surprised. “You're not supposed to be in here, males only.”

“Oh that's just a formality, I wanted to have a word with Flim, if you don't mind. After all if anyone understands how he feels, it's me.” replied Starlight.

Big Mac just shrugged and walked off to get ready for the wedding himself, there was no need to worry about Starlight, he was sure she just wanted to be helpful, he just hadn't had the best impression of her ever since she had cast that gosh darn spell on him, so he wasn't her biggest fan.

“Flim, we don't really know one another but well...I'm ashamed to say I know all too well how you feel about how ponies will see you. It took me a long while to be comfortable with who I am now.” began Starlight.

Flim blinked as he listened to her, “You hurt ponies by scamming them?” he questioned out of curiosity.

“Yeah...something like that...but much worse.” replied Starlight Glimmer as her ears drooped a bit. She was still ashamed of the things she had done, but she had accepted her past, and was looking to make a new name for herself, and she knew that was exactly what he was trying to do.

“Oh...you don't have to say.” replied Flim. “I'm glad you came to talk, it has helped me calm my nerves a bit.”

“Not a problems, after all we gotta stick together.” smiled Starlight. “Now you have a wedding to get ready for.” and with that she walked out of the dressing room to give him his privacy.

Flim did feel a bit better after talking to her, perhaps he wasn't alone in this world. After all he knew how often the mane six defeated villains and helped them see the error of their ways. He was no different really, though it had been Applejack whom had been the one to show him his two cents worth. Flim walked out to the stage as he stood down below the stage where three candles were. Two candles were lit, one on each side of the other and a big center candle in the middle. He turned his attention to the back of the church they stood in. He could see the many empty rows of pews in front of him, and just imagining them full of ponies, was rather nervewrecking. He couldn't help but swallow a gulp of air down the lump of his throat. His hooves shook as he imagined the crowd hating him or booing him or just starring at him with distaste.

“Flim...are you okay?” questioned Applejack as she had decided to leave Fluttershy's room to check in on the kitchen staff to see how the cooking was coming along. She had seen Flim at the head of the church in front of where the stage was, frozen with fear.

“I'm terrified.” he admitted to her. There was no sense in lying, as she would know if he was, after all she was the element of honestly.

“Terrified of them?” she pointed to the empty pews. “Flim...there's no pony here but me. You are imagining things. Trust me, if I can say I like you, then I'm sure the rest of them will.”

“How do you know that for sure?” he questioned with a worried look on his hues. He couldn't help it, he worried about a lot of things, but the thing he worried most about was disappointing Fluttershy, he wanted to do right by her, and if that would mean leaving her because of pony's thoughts of him, he would.

“Listen, I know you feel ponies will judge you because of your past, but you can't let that eat you up. You are better than that, you have shown not only me, but Fluttershy just what a stallion you really are. Don't look to the past, with shame, but look to it as a reminder of how far you've come.” replied Applejack.

He knew she was right, he sighed heavily. “I'm sorry Applejack, I was just so nervous about a lot of things, but I was most worried about letting Fluttershy down.” explained Flim.

“Trust me on this Flim, you won't let her down, and I truly and wholeheartly believe that.” smiled Applejack.

“Thank you Applejack, it means a lot to hear you say that.” replied Flim. Flim walked up to Applejack and offered her his hoof.

“Friends?” he smiled.

“Friends.” replied Applejack as she accepted his hoof and shook his hoof in return. “Now I reckon, I gotta see how their doing in the kitchen.”

“Alright, see you shortly.” he smiled softly. It wouldn't be much longer yet before he and Fluttershy would be married. He knew it was only the reharshal but int a way this was a practice round for the real thing, so maybe by tommorrow he wouldn't be so nervous.

There was only one thing that Flim wished was different, he wished that Flam could've been here to see this, rather than sitting in jail. He wished he could have made him see the light, but perhaps he would finally see that he was right all along. They couldn't only care about themselves, to truly care about others, that was the real reward in of itself. There was no greater feeling and now that he knew how it felt, he never wanted that feeling to go away. Fluttershy...he couldn't wait to wrap his arms around her in a loving embrace and kiss her sweetly upon her lips as he would hold her in his arms. Just thinking about it, brought a smile upon his lips. He looked towards the back of the church and towards the pews, and he realized he wasn't afraid anymore, he was happy.

Chapter 14: The Wedding

View Online

Applejack trotted on towards the kitchen to see how the prepartions for the wedding were coming along, typically she would have offered her own hooves to help, but well...she was a part of the wedding. She was Fluttershy's mare of honor and as such wasn't allowed to be involved with the setting up of things. Though, that didn't mean she couldn't see how things were coming along, but knowing that Twilight was helping with organizing the event she didn't figure they would really need her own asisstance that much. She walked in, pushing the kichen door forward and immediately saw Mr and Mrs cake, working on the many sweets and such for the reception.

“Hey Applejack, can we help you in any way?” questioned Mrs.Cake it was very clear she was focused on the task at hoof, but on the other hoof, she wasn't one to ignore any pony, espicially not a pony who was often used to the hardwork of getting things done in a timely manner.

“Nah. I'm good Mrs. Cake, how are things going in here?” questioned Applejack as she glanced around to the many items being made, and Mr. Cake taking each one once they were finished, and putting them into the oven to bake.

“Thank you honey.” smiled Mrs. Cake towards her husband as he was constantly going back and forth between where Mrs.Cake was making sweets, to the oven, then to the fridge to cool down, and perserve for the wedding, even though this was the reharshal, they still had to get the wedding stuff ready for the morning, after all it would be much longer until Flim and Fluttershy were married officially and planning their honeymoon. It was such a lovely thing, to see two ponies slowly falling in love, without really knowing it at first. Mrs. Cake remembered how she had met Mr.Cake, and how she and him had dated for quite some time before it finally hit her that she had found the stallion she wanted to spend the rest of her days with.

“Oh, things are going well so far, love is such a beautiful thing isn't it?” she smiled softly, as she rolled her rolling pin over some batter, getting it nice and smooth for getting ready to go over her pies, and putting just a little bit of cream overtop the top part of the pie, before putting it over to the side, for Mr.Cake to then put into the fridge for the following morning. Luckily, they had quite a few fridges and ice fridges to work with being in the canterlot kitchen.

“Indeed, it truly is a wonderous thing.” replied Applejack with a simple nod. It was very clear to see that Mrs.Cake had things handled in the kitchen, and that made Applejack feel a bit relieved to know it was going well. Though, knowing Twilight she had picked the perfect ponies for the task at hand. She knew that the reception planning was most likely Pinkie Pie whom would be in charge of that. After all there was no one better when it came to parties then Pinkie. Applejack hadn't really been that worried about it, but it was always a relief to know the ponies in charge of each task, would be the best pony for the job. She then decided to leave the kitchen, after saying goodbye to the cakes, and heading back to where Fluttershy was trying on her dress. She wouldn't actually be wearing it for the reharshal, but Rarity wanted to make sure every little tiny detail was just right for the upcoming big day, that would soon be upon them.

“Oh, Fluttershy you look so gorgeous.” smiled Rarity softly as she fiddled with the many pins in the dress, using her measuring tape to measure around her in the dress, as she joted down a few notes on a notepad she was levitating with her horn, for any last second alernations she might have to make, so that the dress would fit Fluttershy like it was almost a part of her.

“Thank you, Rarity.” smiled Fluttershy with a soft shade of pink crossing her cheeks. She noticed Applejack come into the room, and her smile grew even wider. “Applejack.”

“Hey there, Sugarcube, how are you feeling?” questioned Applejack, not wanting to get in Rarity's way, she sat down in front of Fluttershy, as Rarity was fooling around to the sides, and backs of the dress by this point. Once she was sasified, she simply leaned over towards Fluttershy kissing her on the cheek softly, and whispering her something in her ears, which had her soft shade of pink, turn into bright shade of red, almost as red as a tomato. With that, with Rarity walked off to assist Fluttershy's braidmaids with their own dresses.

Of course Fluttershy had asked Rainbow Dash to be one of her braidsmaids as she and her had been good friends over the years, but Rainbow Dash wasn't one to wear frilly dresses, but for Fluttershy's sake, she had allowed Rarity to sugget something a bit more fitting for the wedding, but yet continued to groan insside about not being able to fly right in a dress. Her other braidmaid was one that not all might have expected, it was Treehugger, as she and Fluttershy had become close friends when she had left to go see the breezies. Her dress had to be more nature like, but yet fit the others and tie into the theme of the overall wedding, and there was no one better to make it all flow together and yet keep every mare happy with what they would be wearing then Rarity hereself. She had an eye for every little detail, that might be a crucial thing for everything to go smoothly, and Rarity would not fail, espicially not when it came to Fluttershy's wedding. There would be no errors, everything must be perfect!

Twilight Sparkle walked into the dressing room, and looked to all of them. “It's time everyone, when you are called, come to the two double doors, and then once they open each couple will walk up to the altar, then we pause for the bride, as everyone will stand, then the crusaders will go down with their flowers, and lastly Fluttershy that is when you walk down the aisle to meet up with Flim at the altar. Your father will then stop you before the altar, at the threshold where he will then give you over to Flim, then you and Flim will practice your vows, be married and walk back down the walkway to the double doors, then you will then go up to where the reception will be held. Now, remember this is just practice so it's natural to be nervous.” spoke Twilight calmly. She knew how easily scared Fluttershy used to be, but any mare would be nervous about their own wedding, with not wanting to worry about anything going wrong. Twilight had already talked to Discord about not messing this up for Fluttershy, and of course just like Discord, he had much more fun pranking Twilight then he would ever do to his dear Fluttershy. He had been more than happy to “behave” himself until the reception, but he didn't exactly make any Pinkie Promises, so Twilight would be keeping an eye on him, just in case, because with Discord, you never knew.

“Wow...time really does go by fast with these things doesn't it?” questioned Fluttershy, her bangs hanging in front of her one eye, as Twilight approach her and pushed it back behind her ears.

“There...that's better.” smiled Twilight towards her, she bumped her own nose against Fluttershy's. “You'll do just fine, just take a deep breath, alright?”

“Okay...” replied Fluttershy softly. She couldn't help be a bit nervous, this was a big step for her, and there was so many that would be out there for the actual wedding, she knew only the important people of the wedding would be there for the reharshal, but she knew that the real wedding there would be a crowded room, that she would be the center of attention in, and it was a bit overwhelming for her to take in. She took a deep and steady breath in and out, trying to take Twilight's advice to heart, but yet her heart was still thumping as loud as a drum. Thump...Thump...Thump. She hadn't really calmed down, but she felt maybe a tiny bit better that all her friends would be here right with her on this big step, and this big day for not just her, but for her future husband too. She could only imagine what he must be going through as well. Though she knew his own fears were different from hers, but she knew he still had those fears, and she understood completely, and she hoped to reassure him that no matter what others thought of him, the ones that were truly important knew he wasn't the same pony he had used to be. Twilight would then hug Fluttershy closely before heading out the door to give her privacy.

Applejack would stay with Fluttershy until it was her turn to go towards the altar, she'd be the last one to go before it would be Fluttershy's turn to head to the two large double doors.

Fluttershy would then carefully, with Applejack's help getting out of her wedding dress, as Rarity would then take it, to make any last minute alterations, and be gone in a flash. After that Fluttershy let out a soft sigh of relief.

“I'm ready.” she spoke in a soft gentle voice. She was excited to see Flim, ready to start the rest of her life, helping him understand that there was more to him, then even he realized.

Applejack smiled softly towards Fluttershy, as she heard her name being called to head to the two double doors. She leaned in to give Fluttershy one last embrace, before heading out. She never would have thought this was possible, she never would have even believed in it, but here they were about to celebrate a union between Fluttershy and Flim, and she was surprisingly not upset by it. It had taken a lot for her to forgive Flim, but she saw that he was willing to change, willing to be a better pony for Fluttershy's sake, and not just that for himself too. He wasn't the same con-artist she had grown to hate, she was more than happy to call him a friend. Applejack heard the doors open and that was her quene to walk down the aisle with Big Mac, since he was Flim's best man since well...he hadn't had a chance to make that many friends as of yet. Some ponies were still unsure about him, but others were willing to see the new Flim. Soon, it would be Fluttershy's turn to walk down the aisle, once the crusaders tumbled down with their flower baskets. It was exciting, but also nervewrecking, but this was just the reharshal so it was best to get out any jitters now, rather than later.

It was very hard for her to not be nervous, but she found she felt rather calm and even composed as she took a deep breath, before heading out from the dressing room, to where she was to stand. She waited for her signal, the here comes the bride music being played loud and bold, as the two doors would open, all the mares and stallions in their seats would rise to greet the bride to be. Fluttershy would normally hide behind her mane, or even run away, but not today, not when she knew her love was waiting for her. She wanted him to know how brave he was.

She took her first steps towards a new future, a brighter path for both of them, she wanted others to see there was more to Flim then met the eye, he was a good stallion, who had just been driven down the wrong path, but he had managed to turn himself around for the better of not only her, but himself as well. She knew he would've liked for his brother to have been here as well...but sadly not everyone was a good pony. Some ponies had good hearts, and others couldn't see past their own faults. For the longest time, she had just let herself be pushed around by everyone, and everything, but now she was a better pony because of the lesson she had learned, there was a thing such as too much kindness, and sometimes the best thing you could do for another, was let them go.

She could see Flim up waiting for her, the way he looked at her, she knew to him, she was the most important pony in the room, and it warmed her heart, and made her cheeks flush at the thought of being the center of the attention. It was certainly a lot more dramatic when she was the bride, rather than simply one of the many braidsmaids from Cadence's wedding. She stopped right at the threshold, where her father would give her over to Flim, and bless their future together. Flim would then take Fluttershy's hand, and lead her up to where the altar was, and it was there and then they would practice their vows, to prepare for a future together.

“Fluttershy, do you take Flim to be your special somepony, to love, and to hold, and to cherish for the rest of your days, through sickness and through health to death due you part?”

“I do.” replied Fluttershy, her lovely smile looking right into Flim's eyes, and never letting go of his hoof in hers.

“Flim, do you take Fluttershy to be your special somepony, to love, and to hold, and to cherish for the rest of your days, through sickness and through health to death due you part?”

“I do.” replied Flim, he loved Fluttershy, and there wasn't anything he wouldn't do for her, no matter what he'd always be right there with her, despite what some thought of him, what mattered the most was above all, her happiness.

“Is there anyone here today among us, that would have any objections to these two being wed?”

Silence filled the room, Derpy ended up sneezing, but no one seemed to oject to the union of the two. The stallion marrying them smiled softly.

“I prounce you husband and wife.” with that he added, “You may kiss the bride.”

Flim stepped a bit closer to Fluttershy, to lift up her beautiful veil out of the way of her lovely hues of green, seeing her meek cheeks of red, as lovely as a rose just coming into bloom. He leaned in delicately, not wanting to ruin the moment, even if it was just practice and his lips met hers in a deep and passionate kiss.

Fluttershy would be a bit surprised at the deep kiss, but after the intial shock, she kissed him right back, her wingspan spreading as she leaned further into the kiss, as the two truly became one in that very moment. Fluttershy let go of the kiss first, her face only getting more and more red, when Flim, lifted her up off the ground, and carried her across the threshold. She couldn't believe it....they were married. She could spend the rest of her days knowing he would always be there by her side, and it was a comforting thought. She knew the real wedding was in the morning, but it already felt like they were a married couple, and they could begin planning the rest of their lives together.

Though once they were out of the gaze of other's eyes, Flim turned to Fluttershy, putting his hoof under her chin, and looking into her eyes longingly.

“Fluttershy...” he began.

“Yes Flim?” questioned Fluttershy, as she gazed back up towards him, wondering what exactlhy might be on his mind.

“You saved me...I was a mess, really I was. I feel often about the way I treated ponies just for coin. I just wanted to say thank you for giving me a chance, when no pony else would even glance at me, you saw beyond that.” smiled Flim.

“Oh...it's nothing. I mean every pony deserves a second chance. Every one actually.” giggled Fluttershy thinking of Discord. No one had thought he could be redeemed either, and look at how well he was doing. Of course Fluttershy was glad he wasn't jealous that she was married now, because Discord and her were always good friends and that's something that would never change. Hoof in hoof, Fluttershy and Flim, made their way up to the reception area, and were told what time the carriage driver would be there to pick them up and take them back to Fluttershy's cottage, though she imagined it wouldn't be very quiet, she knew Angel probably had something special planned in store. She just hoped it wasn't glue like the one time. That had given her last colt friend the wrong impression, but ultimately he hadn't been the right one anyways, so in the end it didn't matter.

Flim couldn't be happier, the only thing that still nagged at him was his brother's fate. Prison...for how long no pony knew. He had mare napped Fluttershy, that certainly was warrant for him to be locked up for some time. Flim wanted to go see him, to clear things up, but truthfully he wasn't sure his brother would ever see it the way he did, his brother didn't have anyone like Fluttershy that believed in him. Flim wanted to believe his brother could turn things around, but he was his brother, any kin would want the best for their own. Perhaps, it just wasn't possible, but he refused to give up. He was quite surprsed when he heard a female farmer's voice behind him, as she put a hoof to his shoulder.

“Don't give up, Flim. That's probably what he's expecting. I don't like that rascal any more than I did you at first, but everyone deserves a second chance, even Flam...” spoke Applejack softly.

Flim couldn't help but have a few tears run down his cheeks, to hear Applejack tell him not to give up, and to keep fighting was more encouragement then she might realized. She truly had forgiven him, and without even asking or thinking, he hugged her.

“Thank you Applejack, truly....Thank you.”

“There, there Sugarcube...it'll be alright.” she smiled trying to get Flim to stop crying, even if the tears were happy ones. There was hope, and Flim wasn't going to give up on his brother, Fluttershy hadn't given up on him. Why couldn't he do the same for Flam? Right now, he had a wedding to attend too, he could go visit his brother afterwards, much afterwards, as he could not wait to spend a night with his new wife, the thought was almost intoxicating.

Chapter 15: True Love Doesn't Die.

Flim couldn't believe it, even now, standing here, hoof in hoof with the mare of his dreams, it almost felt like just a dream. He couldn't have been happier. He looked towards Fluttershy, as it was time for each of them to say their own special vows if either of them had any. He didn't have anything prepared, so he decided to speak from his heart.

“Dear Fluttershy, you have shown me what no one else seemed willing to give, you have shown me kindness, and forgiveness, and acceptance. You took a chance on me, when all seemed lost, you gave me a helping hoof, and I fell head over heels in love with you. It's no wonder why you are the element of kindness, but to me you are so much more, you are truly my love, my wife, my everything.” Flim knew things wouldn't have been the same, without her. Where would he even be, if she hadn't given him a chance to shine? A chance to show there was so much more to him, then the simple salespony everyone knew him to be. Something...he wouldn't soon forget.

“Fluttershy, would you like to say anything to Flim now?” questioned the priest pony with a glance towards the yellow pegusus.

“Yes, I would. Flim...I love you. I just wanted to help you in your time of need, but I saw a spark ignite, a fire inside to do what was right, all for my sake, and I'm very humbled you would do that just for me. Even now, I'm still falling in love with you.” smiled Fluttershy with a big pink tinted blush rising to her cheeks. It was hard for her not to be so flustered, espeically with all these ponies watching them. She knew what was next, and she had promised in this moment, to be the wife he needed her to be, to have the confidence to go boldy, where no other mare would have gone.

“Now, with the power invested in me, I grant you both Mr and Mrs. Flim. You may now kiss the bride.”

This time was real...this was no reharshal, this was the real moment. Flim leaned in softly, as he gazed into her lovely hues of green as he lifted up her veil over her pink mane. His lips would meet hers in a passionate, love filled kiss, there was no denying the two ponies cared for one another, as they both leaned into the kiss, before Flim let go of the kiss, backing off, and ever still smiling back towards his wife, and to his love.

Hoof in hoof, the two walked out of the main santuary out to where the carriage was waiting to take them up to the reception area.

The reception seemed to fly by, Flim and Fluttershy got a lot of gifts from every pony there, and of course they had a dance between the two of them, but it all seemed to just fly by.

After the reception, Flim had a chance to pull Fluttershy aside, wanting to talk to her one on one without any camera ponies wanting to take their picture or any of the mane six trying to give Fluttershy more congratulations on her wedding, espicially not Rainbow Dash, that had just about threatened his very manly hood if anything “happened” to Fluttershy. He didn't even want to think about that. He had taken her up the hill, to where there was this really old oak, it probably wasn't as old as the oak tree that Twilight's house had been made out of, but it was still a fairly old tree, well seeded, and had a good amount of branches with plenty of leaves to keep the sun ouf of their faces. He sat down, and gestured for Fluttershy to sit in front of him.

“Fluttershy...” he began, he was nervous of what others thought of him, but around her it was completely different, he felt at home whenever she was near. She was always close to his heart, and he would always put her first, ahead of himself.

“Yes, Flim what is it?” questioned Fluttershy softly.

He rubbed at the back of his head with his right hoof, as he scrambled for the right words. “I want to take you on a honeymoon, but well...I wasn't sure where you might want to go, I thought of a nice pincic in a forest, but the Everfree Forest is not really good for that, I do know some nice forests on the outskirts of Equestria though.” smiled Flim. “Where would you like to go?”

“It doesn't matter where I go, as long as I'm with you, that's what matters. It could simply be a pincic outside my cottage, and to me that would be every bit as nice a honeymoon as some luxurious hotel with a giant pool.” smiled Fluttershy.

“Well...you need a break from your animals, and that Angel might get in the way...” spoke Flim blushing a bright beat red, as he thought of what a married couple typically did a lot on their first honeymoon together.

“Oh...heavens you're right. I suppose a nice cottage inn would be a nice place to go then.” suggested Fluttershy.

“Yes, now that I can do. Alright, I'll just need to make a few phone calls, and we can have a room ready by tommorrow morning.”

“Oh you don't need to do that. Rarity already gave me a gift to an exclusive cottage inn, that she knew of months before.” spoke Fluttershy.

“Oh...well that mare thinks of everything it seems.”

“Actually, that's more Twilight's thing, but it was really nice of Rarity to get this for me, we've always been good friends ever since the time Photo Finish tried to get me to be a model for her. I'm not one for the crowds though. I just like being myself.” smiled Fluttershy.

“Well, there's nothing at all wrong with that. That's all you really can be, it's all you need to be is yourself. For so long, I let Flam lead me like a dog to it's food dish, that I never really thought much of what I wanted in life.” replied Flim, with a heavy sigh, his eyelids closing for a few seconds, and then opening again when he felt Fluttershy's hoof on top of his.

“I know what it's like...really I do. I have a brother...that well...really peeves me.” replied Fluttershy, “but despite that, I still love him. Just like you love your brother despite everything he has done. I wouldn't want you to stop caring for him, he's your brother, your family, and family has got to stick together. Perhaps, he might see the errors of his ways now, and start on a better and brighter path, just like you did. I want the best for both of you.”

“Really? You would give Flam another chance?” questioned Flim.

“Every pony deserves a second chance, even Flam.” spoke Fluttershy, there was no hesitation in her voice, no pause, she truly was speaking from her heart. She would feel Flim wrap his arms around her, and pull her in for a loving embrace, tears trailing down his face.

“Oh...Fluttershy...thank you. I didn't think any pony would be willing to see what I saw in him, but I know just like me, there's more to Flam then meets the eye.”

“Sometimes it just takes a little dusting off to see the gem inside of us all. I think that's something Rarity said once.”

“Well, I approve. Now shall we get to that cottage? I must admit, it's nice to think of how I'll be able to hold you like this all night long.”

“Oh yes, we probably should. I wouldn't mind sleeping here under this tree, but we probably should get going, after all our carriage is waiting.” replied Fluttershy as she stood up, took Flim's hoof in hers once more, and the two headed into the carriage once down at the bottom of the hill, and the carriage would drive the two of them off into the sunset.

Flam sit within the pony dungeons of the Canterlot castle, his one hoof chained to a heavy ball on the ground. He sat on a bench, and huffed in annoyance at a rat that scurried by grabbing a small piece of bread that had fallen to the ground. Flam heard a noise of a door, and a lock clicking as some pony opened the door, and walked over to his cell. He wasn't sure whom it might be, but he was surprised at who he saw standing there behind the bars, it was none other than Applejack herself.

“Aren't you supposed to be at a wedding? You know you wouldn't want to miss that.”

“I just came from there Flam, and for your information it was quite lovely. It's a shame I couldn't have stayed longer.” began Applejack. She wouldn't even be here if not at Fluttershy's request. She still couldn't believe it, but she trusted her, more than most ponies.

“What do you want? Clearly you didn't come to “visit”.” spoke Flam in an annoyed huff, as he turned in his cell, his rump facing Applejack so that she knew just exactly what he thought of this little visit.

Applejack didn't pay much mind to his rudeness though, she knid of figured this was how he might react to her being here, and she would gladly have normally given him a piece of her mind, but she was here for a purpose.

“Fluttershy asked me to give you this, truthfully I don't believe you deserve it, but perhaps she sees something in you that I don't.” spoke Applejack pushing a letter under the bars. “You can read it or throw it away for all I care, but just know this, if you ever try to hurt Fluttershy again, I won't hesitate to pummel you into the ground.” and with that Applejack turned on her heels, and walked out the door, slamming the main door to the dungeon with a loud bang!

Flam just starred at the sealed envelope for a good few minutes, before putting his hoof out and bringing it up to his chest, as he ripped the top open with his horn. He carefully pulled the letter out, and decided to read it, he wasn't prepared for what it said.

“Dear Flam,

I know what you're thinking, why write you a letter? Well, it's because I care, I care about you and Flim. You are brothers, and brothers are supposed to love and support each other. It hurts me that you hurt Flim's feelings. He believes in you, and I believe in you too. I know if you look deeply within, you'll find you aren't just a salespony, you are oh so much more than that. Wishing you the best in this time of need, your friend Fluttershy.

Flam was surprised, and even more so in disablief, why? Why would she wish him the best? He had kidnapped her, in all rights she should hate him, but yet she was extending kindness to even a pony such as him. He sulked in his cell, his mane out of it's usual gandor, and a slight frown to his face. He just sat there, holding the letter. What did this mean? She surely wasn't expecting him to turn over a new leaf. At the end of the day, he knew who he was, perhaps it was just Flim that couldn't see it. He didn't want to be “a goody two shoed” pony. Without bits there was nothing to the world, that is what he believed, but yet Fluttershy challenged that belief, by showing him that she believed he could change if he wanted too. Flam just sighed, letting the letter fall to the ground, and sitting back on the bench, hoof in chin, thinking. What should he do now? He briefly thought about writing back, but he doubted anyone would even read such a letter, so he merely decided to serve his time. He knew he wouldn't be in here forever, and when he did get out, he would be able to get back at his brother and show him that love and kindness didn't conquer all.

Flim couldn't have been happier, to be with Fluttershy in this carriage on their way to the start of their new life together, yet at the back of his mind, he couldn't help thinking about his brother. Their had to be something he could do for him right? Fluttershy had shown him so much, he wanted others to see he could show kindness in the same way she had shown him, and he knew in the back of his mind, the one whom needed it most.
