Rainbow was scared. Why? Because her parents wanted to talk to her. Why? Jeeze reader, stop asking so many questions! If you want to know, just keep reading. Jeeze. Anyway, Rainbow's parents walked into her room to talk to her about something that would change her life forever.
"Oh hey Mom, hey Dad, how's it hangin?" Rainbow asked trying to hide her fear.
"Hello Rainbow Dash we just wanted to let you know that you're not in trouble, but this will change you're life quite a bit." Her mom, Firefly said.
That only made Rainbow Dash feel worse.
"Heh heh, we assure you that this will only change it for the better." Her dad, Rainbow Blaze said.
"Okay, so what did you wanna talk about?" Rainbow asked.
"You're betrothed." Her parents said in unison.
"Wha-what does that mean?" Rainbow asked in a scared voice.
"It means that ever since you were born, you were supposed to marry someone that we picked for you." Her mom explained.
"What." Rainbow asked. Sorta.
"Honey, you're getting married." Her dad said.
"To who?" Rainbow asked.
"Do you remember the Skies family? Our great friends?" Her mom asked.
"Yes. *Girly gasp* Am I getting married to Rapid Fire?!" She asked excitedly.
"No, you're getting married to his cousin, Soarin Skies. You remember him, Cloudy Skies' son?" Her dad asked.
*Scared gasp*"OH NO! NONONONONONONO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't marry him, he's too flirty and likes to brag about how fast he can fly! Why Soarin?! Why Mom? Whyyyyyyyyyyyy!? She said(and asked.) franticly.
"Because by the time you two were born Soarin's dad had died, and we wanted Cloudy to feel better be there for her as much as possible, so we decided to join our families." Her mom said.
"You couldn't have had another kid?" Rainbow asked.
"No." Her parents said in unison.
"You two are going to have tea together tomorrow , just the two of you. We expect you to where your best dress. As well as be on your best behavior." Her dad said in a stern voice.
"Yes Father." She said in a sad voice.
As she was looking through her closet, Rainbow Dash couldn't help but wonder how Soarin would react to the news. Yes reader, we are going to see how Soarin will react to this news.
Soarin's P.O.V.
As Soarin walked upstairs to his mom's room, he couldn't help but wonder what kind of life-changing news he was going to get. When he walked into his mom's room, he saw her with a serious look on her face.
"Mom? You said you had some life-changing news, what is it?" He asked.
"Yes, you remember Rainbow Dash right?" His mom asked.
"Yes! Of course! How could I ever forget somepony as beautiful as her?! He exclaimed.
"Well, you're betrothed to her." His mom said.
This news took Soarin by surprise. But his reaction was even more surprising.
"YES! YES! YES! WOO-HOO!!!!!!! I'M GETTING MARRIED TO THE MOST BEAUTIFUL MARE IN THE WORLD! OH YEAH!" He exclaimed excitedly.
"Yes, you two will be having tea tomorrow. So I expect you to wear your best suit." His mom said.
"Yes of course! Only the best for my future wife. I better brush up on my flirting skills." He said rushing to his room to look for his best suit.
As he was looking through his closet, he couldn't help but wonder how Dash had reacted to the news.
Rainbow's P.O.V.
As Rainbow was looking through her closet, she got an evil idea. She picked out her best dress, then she grabbed her shadow bolt costume and hid it under her bed. She then grabbed a piece of paper then a pencil and started to write something down when she heard a tap on her window. When she walked up to the window, she saw the last pony she ever wanted to see: Soarin.
"What are you doing here?" She asked with a scowl on her face.
"I wanted to see you. Have you heard the news?" He asked.
"Yes, I have heard the news and I'm not happy about it." She said, still with the scowl on her face.
"Why aren't you happy?" Soarin asked looking a little disappointed.
"Well, I don't mean to offend you, but I don't really want to get married, and if I was to get married, it wouldn't be to you." She said.
"Oh? Who would it be then?" He asked.
"You're not gonna like this, but the stallion that I would marry would be your cousin, Rapid Fire." She said.
There was silence. Soarin just stood there, stunned. It took him a few seconds to get his voice back.
"He's not what he seems." Soarin muttered, then flew off.
"Soarin, wait!" Rainbow said, then flew off after him.
It took Rainbow a few minutes to find Soarin, he was a fast flyer. She was starting to see why he bragged so much. When she finally found him, he was sitting on the edge of a cliff looking up at Luna's beautiful night. He looked like he'd been crying.
"Hey," Rainbow said.
"Hey." Soarin replied, still looking at the sky.
"Listen, I'm really sorry. I never wanted to hurt you. Just because I don't want to marry you, doesn't mean that I don't care about you." Rainbow said, sitting down next to him.
"Well, even if you do care about me, you still don't want to marry me." Soarin said sadly.
"You're right. I don't want to marry you, but I'm willing to give you a chance. And plus, you still get to marry me, right? Rainbow asked.
"Well, yes, but you still don't love me and you love my jerk of a cousin!" Soarin said angrily.
"Is he really a jerk?" Rainbow asked.
"You wouldn't understand." Soarin said sadly.
"Well you don't have to talk about it if you don't want to." Rainbow said.
"Thanks." Soarin said.
"You know, what I was doing before you came over was planning a way to ruin the date, but, now I don't really want to." Rainbow said.
"Well I'll help you ruin the date." Soarin said.
"Wait, really?" Rainbow asked.
"Yeah! I don't really want to go on a boring tea date, so if you tell me your plan, we can ruin this date together!" Soarin said.
"Sweet!"
As the night went on, Rainbow and Soarin talked endlessly, planning and laughing and just plain talking. As Rainbow flew home, she felt a new feeling inside her, of course she brushed it off, but she still felt good inside.
When Rainbow woke up that morning, she felt good. Really good. She was going to do something that she had always wanted to do: Ruin a fancy-schmancy tea party. She slipped into her fancy dress and grabbed a bag and put her shadowbolt costume in it.
"Rainbow honey, it's time to go to the tea party." She heard her mom yell from downstairs.
As Rainbow walked downstairs, her mom gasped at how she looked.
"Rainbow! You look beautiful honey! Soarin will love it!" Her mom said in awe.
"Yeah, yeah thanks Mom. Now can we go now?"
"Oooh! Somepony's getting anxious to meet their future hubbie!" Her mom giggled.
"Shut up."
"So you do like him!" Her mom teased.
"I don't like him." She said bluntly.
"I'll take your word for it."
"Good. Now let's go!" Rainbow said.
As they were walking to the tea place, they saw Soarin walking there as well. Firefly noticed this of course. So, she dragged her daughter over to him. Though Rainbw didn't struggle.
"Oh, hello, Soarin, fancy meeting you here." Firefly said.
"Well, my fiancé and I are going on a date, are we not, Dashie?" Soarin said while winking.
"We are going on a date. Mother, why don't go to the spa today, and Soarin can take me to the tea party?" Rainbow asked.
"Oooh somepony's getting anxious to go on a date!" Soarin said while winking. Again.
"Shut up and stop winking at me!" An annoyed Rainbow said.
"Never." A smug looking Soarin said.
"Well then, I will leave you two lovebirds alone and go to the spa." Firefly said as she walked off.
"Why are you just staring at me?" Rainbow asked.
Soarin quickly shook his head and said the dumbest thing ever:
"Did it hurt when you fell from heaven? Because you look like an angel." He said.
"Did you just say that?"
"Yes. I realize my mistake, sorry Dash." He said while blushing.
"Uh-huh, just don't say anything like that again."
"No promises." He said with a dorky grin on his face.
"Oh great, I'm gonna have to live with that for the rest of my life. At least I get to see that cute dorky grin every day." She said.
"So you admit I'm cute, eh?" Soarin said with a sly grin on his face.
"I never said anything at all." She said defensively.
"Suuuuuuuuuuuurrrrrrrrreeee." Soarin said.
"Oh look, we're here." Rainbow said, obviously trying to change the subject.
As the two walked into the tea place, Rainbow Dash was overwhelmed by all of the fancy décor. Soarin noticed this, and gave her a reassuring look. The two walked up to the reservation stand to fin Rapid Fire taking the reservations. Rainbow Dash looked really happy, then her expression changed to a more somber look.
"Oh, hey there RD, why the long face?" Rapid Fire asked.
"Never mind that, there is reservation under Skies for us." Soarin said, trying to avoid talking to his cousin as much as possible.
As Rapid Fire looked for the name, Soarin shot Dash a look of confusion as to Rapid had called her RD. She only shrugged her shoulder, as to say that she didn't know why.
"Ah, yes. You two are on a date?" He asked questioningly.
"Yes, we are actually betrothed to each other." Rainbow said.
"Oh?"
"Yes, we just found out about it yesterday. Now, where's our table?" Soarin asked hastily.
"Oh, yes, top floor, table #3."Rapid said.
"Thank you Rapid!" Rainbow said.
"No problemo!" Rapid said.
As soon as Rapid was out of earshot, Soarin turned to Dash and started talking.
"So, do you remember the plan?" He asked.
"Yes I remember the plan, I'm the one who came up with it!" She said.
"Sorry, just asking." Soarin said apologetically.
"It's okay." She said.
When the two reached the top floor, Rainbow saw all of her friends on different dates. Fluttershy was with Discord, Pinkie Pie was with Cheese Sandwich, Twilight was with Flash Sentry, Rarity was with Thunderlane, and Applejack seemed to look a little frazzled as Caramel and Spike looked to be fighting with her. Even the royal sisters were there! Celestia seemed to be with who Rainbow recognized to be the alternate Sombra, and Luna was with a bat pony.
"Wow! I didn't know this place was so popular!" Rainbow said, feeling overwhelmed again.
"Yeah I've been here a couple of times before, don't feel overwhelmed it won't be that bad, and plus, it'll be a lot more fun once we spice things up a bit!" Soarin said.
"Yeah, but the princesses are here, can't we go to jail for this?" Rainbow asked.
"Haha, no this has happened in front of the princesses before, we'll be fine." Soarin said.
"Okay. I'm ready whenever you are, Soarin." Rainbow said.
"Alright let's go to our table, M'lady," Soarin said while bowing.
"Oh, such a gentlecolt!" Rainbow said loudly, so the whole room could hear.
"Rainbow Dash!?" Everypony that knew her said questioningly.
"Oh, hello guys! This is Soarin, my fiancé!" She said, getting a totally expected reaction:
"WHAT?!"
"Oh, did I forget to mention that we're betrothed?"
"YES!"
"Oh, well we are." Rainbow said, while sitting down.
As the two waited for the waiter, all eyes were on them. When the waiter finally came with there tea, the pair got up and went to the bathrooms to change. When the pair came out, nopony recognized them. For Soarin had put on a shadow bolt costume and put on a little bit of gray coat dye, while Rainbow Dash had on the same costume, but with a blue wig on. Again, all eyes were on them. But for different reasons.
"Are you ready?" Soarin asked.
"Oh yeah." Rainbow said.
As the two walked out, Rainbow's friends, and Luna all freaked out. The two then began to start running and flying around the room, causing chaos. Discord saw this of course and joined in, only to be stopped by Fluttershy.
"DISCORD! WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU'RE DOING!?" Fluttershy yelled.
"Why, I'm joining in on the chaos." Discord said.
"Well, it's not good to do that!"
"Well nopony's gotten hurt, so I don't see why I can't have a little it of fun." Discord said.
"Okay, but no funny business!" Fluttershy said.
"Oh come on Flutters, join in on the fun!" Discord said.
"Okay fine! But only because I love you!" Fluttershy exclaimed.
"I love you too sweetie." Discord said. (The two had been married not long ago)
"HEY CHEESE! LET'S JOIN IN!" Pinkie screamed.
"I'M IN!" Cheese yelled back.
Soon all of Rainbow's friend and even the princesses had joined in on the pranking. Everypony was laughing and throwing stuff, and even dancing on the tables! All in all they had a good time. After the manager came and told everypony to leave, they all thanked the mysterious pranksters, even though everypony had a hunch on who they were. The only pony who wasn't laughing and having fun was Rapid Fire.
"I'll have you soon, my precious Rainbow Dash, I'll have you soon.
While Rainbow was sleeping that night, she had some thoughts:
Today was really fun! But why did Rapid Fire call me RD? Oh well, I guess I'll find out sooner or later. But man, it was so much fun ruining the tea party today, especially when Discord joined in! And Soarin was so cute whenever he smiled at me! Wait. Did I just think that? Wait, do I like Soarin? No. I don't like Soarin at all. He's just a friend. That's getting married to me. Yeah. That. Why would my parents do that to me? But, then again, if we were never betrothed, I wouldn't have learned anything about him. His hopes, his dreams, anything. I would only think of him as a shallow flirty guy. In reality, he's really nice and sweet! Ugh. Why do I keep thinking stuff like this? I do not like him! Do I? No. When is this wedding happening anyway? I'll ask Mom tomorrow. I just don't know how to feel about this whole wedding. I know if I was being myself, I would be super angry about it. But, I'm not. I actually feel okay about it. I mean I do feel really angry about the whole thing, but I'm particularly mad about Soarin. Ugh, I'm doing it again! I really need to stop! I don't like Soarin, we're just friends that are gonna get married! Why Mom why? Why did you have to do this to me!? I really don't want to get married! I mean, I don't want to break Soarin's heart, implying that I do wanna get married. But I don't. But I don't want want to break Soarin's heart, I care about him. Argh! Why do I keep doing this!? I really need some sleep, after all, I do have a girl's day out tomorrow. Well, I can't sleep. And why did I say that his dorky grin looked cute? Well, easy, it's because it does look cute, in fact, Soarin actually looks pretty cute himself! Wait. ARGH! NOT AGAIN! Okay, I really REALLY need to stop doing that. Hmmmm, I guess I am a bit tired, maybe I'll go to sleep and think about this tomorrow. Good night mind!
In the Unfortunate Event that Someone Kisses You When They're not Supposed to....
BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! Rainbow Dash turned over and almost smashed her alarm clock.
"Rainbow!" Firefly called. "We need you to go run some errands before you go home!"
"Okay! What do ya need?" Rainbow yelled back.
"Come down hear and I'll tell you!" Firefly said.
"Okay, fine." she said as she was walking downstairs.
Her mom gave her a long list of things she needed to get for her parents. She walked out the door and headed for the Ponyville market. When she got there, she noticed her friends shopping at the clothing department.
"Hey guys! Why are you shopping at the clothing department and not at Rarity's?" Rainbow asked.
"Oh, hello Rainbow Dash, we're helping Rarity get some inspiration, we would have invited you, but we thought that you and, Soarin had some business to attend to." Twilight explained.
"Okay, but, don't you think that I would tell you if I was busy?" Rainbow asked.
"Well, you didn't tell us that you were getting married, darling." Rarity countered.
"Well, I didn't know until the night before the tea party and didn't I tell you then?"
"Yes, but you could have, well, okay fine, but still!" Rarity said in defeat.
"I win!" Rainbow said with a smirk.
"Oh, hello Rainbow Dash, I didn't see you there!" A mysterious voice said.
"Rapid Fire! What are you doing here?" Rainbow asked.
"Well, I'm actually shopping here and I thought that I would say hi!"
"Okay. Why are you only just taking a notice to me? Wait, is it because I'm marrying your cousin?" Rainbow asked.
"Yes, actually. I think, I might have started to take a liking to you." Rapid said.
"Umm, well, uh, bad timing then. Hehe." Rainbow nervously chuckled. She looked back for her friends to back her up, only to find that Rapid had led her away to place where she could see someone that she knew and kind of loved.
"Wait. What is Soarin doing here, he wouldn't need to go to the market, then again, you wouldn't need to. Why did you really come here?"Rainbow asked, scared of what would happen next.
"Shhhhh, my love, I brought Soarin here, knowing that you be here, he doesn't know that you are here in the rich district with me, I brought him here so he could what's about to happen." Rapid said in a chilling voice.
Just then, Rapid called for Soarin to see what was about to happen. When Soarin came over, Rapid pulled Rainbow into deep kiss. Soarin just stood there, shocked that Rainbow would just stab him in the bake like that. When Rapid finally let up, al Rainbow could do was stand there.
"See Soarin, Rainbow and I are deeply in love!" Rapid said, trying to pull Rainbow in for another, only to have Rainbow knock him out and call him something not-so-ladylike.
She looked up to see Soarin just standing there, staring at her in disbelief. She quickly ran away and didn't look back. For she did to want Soarin to see the tears forming in her eyes.
Knock knock knock "Yo Rainbow Dash? Y'all right?" Pinkie Pie asked, trying to get into Dash's room.
"Leave me alone!" She replied.
"But, it's time for you to get married!" Pinkie said.
"Who am getting married to? Soarin, or Rapid Fire?" She asked.
"Uhhhh, I don't know, lemme go check dat!" Pinkie said.
"Ungh!" Rainbow moaned.
A few minutes later, Pinkie came back to the door. "Well, I checked, it's definitely Soarin, though he seems kinda mad at ya!" Pinkie said.
"Okay, I'm dressed, take me there, no matter how much I don't want to go! I have to stay loyal to my decision!" Rainbow said as she marched out the door.
"You know, I don't understand why you wanted the wedding to be today, I mean, ya did kiss Rapid Fire yesterday, then ya locked yourself in yer room, why?" Pinkie asked as they walked to the carriage that would take them to city hall.
"Well, I guess I just wanted to get the whole thing over with, I figured that if we got married sooner, Rapid would leave me alone." Rainbow replied as she got into the carriage as Pinkie hooked herself up to it.
"Oh, okay. Want some orange juice?!" Pinkie asked randomly.
"Ew, no! I just brushed my teeth!" Rainbow said.
"What's wrong with drinking orange juice after ya brush yer teeth?" Pinkie asked as she started to pull the carriage quickly.
"Don't you have common sense? Wait. That's a stupid question. Nevermind."
"Okay! Hey look! We're here!" Pinkie said as they reached city hall.
"Wow, already? How is that even possible? Wait, you're Pinkie Pie, of course anything's possible!"
"Whelp, go on in! Good luck!" Pinkie said as she climbed through the window.
Soarin didn't know how to feel about the situation at hoof. On one side, he was excited that he would get to marry Rainbow Dash, but the other, he knew that she loved Rapid Fire. He thought that they something special after the tea party. Apparently, he was wrong. He saw her friend, the pink crazy one climb through the window and walk up to the altar.
"SHE'S HERE! EVERYPONY PLACES, ESPECIALLY YOU SOARIN!" She yelled.
The music started and Soarin got butterflies as the CMC walked down the isle. Then, Rainbow Dash came through the door. She was the most beautiful thing that he had ever seen. She had on a beautiful, simple, translucent rainbow dress with a white bodice with glitter sparkled all over it. Wax grapes and cotton clouds adorned her head with the veil falling like a waterfall over her face. Soarin gasped at the sight of her. When she arrived at the altar, Soarin was on the verge of tears. Rainbow gave him a weird look.
"I'm sorry." he whispered.
"For what? The tears?" she whispered back.
"No, for the fact that you have to marry me instead of Rapid Fire." he whispered.
"Oh, that, I didn't kiss him, he kissed me! I don't love him, I love you!"
Those were the words that Soarin had wanted to hear his whole adult life.
"WHOHOO! SHE LOVES ME! SHE LOVES ME! THIS IS THE BEST DAY OF MY LIFE!" he yelled as he did backflips in the air.
"Ahem, Soarin, if you would like to get married, I would appreciate it if you would please, just stand and be quiet!" Twilight said, then continued on marrying them.
"Now, are there any objections?" Twilight asked.
"I object!" A familiar voice said.
"Rapid Fire, please state your reason for objection." Twilight ordered.
"Because, we are in love with each other. Right Rainbow?" he asked.
All eyes were on Rainbow as she walked up to Rapid and came face to face with him.
"Oooh, coming in for another kiss are we?" he asked.
She didn't kiss him. Oh no, she knocked him out with a swift punch to the face. She walked back up to the altar.
"Now, where were we?" she asked as if nothing had happened.
"Yes right, any objections?" Twilight asked, even though it was a no-brainer.
"Yes, okay. My I please have the rings?"
"Thank you. Now, Rainbow Dash, do you take Soarin Skies to be your lawfully wedded husband, until death do you part?"
"I do."
"Now, Soarin Skies, do you take Rainbow Dash to be your lawfully wedded wife, until death do you part?"
"I do."
"Well then, you may now kiss the-"
Rainbow pulled Soarin in for a kiss.
"Uh, groom?"
The whole crowd chuckled a little bit, even Soarin and Rainbow Dash came up for air to chuckle. This was truly, the best day of their lives.
The reception was the most awesomest thing ever! Well, by Rainbow Dash's standards anyway. There was music, Pinkie Pie made Rainbow flavored cupcakes, even the princesses were there. Rainbow was talking with her friends at one of the tables.
"So, darling, are you thinking about having any children in the future? That goes for you to, Fluttershy." Rarity asked.
"Well, Discord and I have some news! I'm pregnant!" Fluttershy said.
There was silence. Then everypony gave their congratulations.
"Huh, I guess I never thought about having kids, I'll have to talk to Soarin about that, do you think we should have kids?" Rainbow asked.
"Only if ya want to hon, ah always thought that ah was gonna be a hard working mom, but that might not be possible since I'm dating Spike now." Applejack said.
"Well, I'm a pony that's pregnant with Discord's kid DISCORDS KID!" Fluttershy said, very loudly.
"Uhhh, have you told Discord yet?" Twilight asked.
"Oppsie"
"Fluttershy? You're pregnant?!" Discord asked as he walked up to his wife.
"Umm, yes?"
"THIS IS THE SECOND BEST DAY OF MY LIFE! THE FIRST ONE IS OUR WEDDING! WE MUST GO PLAN FOR THIS BEAUTIFUL FOAL!" Discord yelled as he gently picked his wife up to go somewhere else.
The music started to slow down for slow dance in honor of the newlyweds.
"May I have this dance, Dashie?" Soarin asked as he held out his hoof.
"Sure."
The couple walked out on to the dance floor as it cleared off. And for that moment, they were the only two ponies in the world.
"Rarity asked me if we were planning on having kids, how do you feel about that?" Rainbow asked.
"I'm fine with having kids, but only if you are." Soarin replied.
"Okay, just wondering." Rainbow said.
"So, I hear that Fluttershy and Discord are having a kid. Is this true?" Soarin asked.
"Yeah."
"Hey, um, who's house are we gonna live in?" Rainbow asked.
"Good question, hey where are we going on our honeymoon?" Soarin asked.
"And yet another good question. Hmmmm... how about...uhh, where do you wanna go?" Rainbow asked.
"Uhhh...well, it looks like we have some planning to do after the reception!" Soarin said.
"Yup, but let's enjoy the reception while it lasts." Rainbow said.
"Heh, good idea." Soarin said.
"Well, the wife's always right!" Rainbow said confidently.
"Surrre." he said.
"Rainbow Dash? Can I talk to you for sec?" A familiar voice asked.
"Rapid Fire, I don't remember inviting you to this reception." Rainbow said curtly.
"But I need to talk to you in private." he said.
"Whatever you have to say, you can say it in front of both of us." Rainbow said.
"Fine, I just wanted to say sorry for kissing you and interrupting your wedding, I guess you punched the sense back into me." Rapid said.
"Thank you for apologizing, I do except it, but I would appreciate it if you would leave." Rainbow said.
"And I except your apology as well, cousin." Soarin said with a smile on his face.
"Thank you." Rapid said as he left the joint.
Twilight was dancing on her own, enjoying the single life after her breakup with Flash. Then a stallion that she had recently met at the gala.
"Oh, hey Twilight, long time no see eh?" the stallion said.
"Oh, hey Timber, yeah, I guess it has been a long time. Wanna talk?" Twilight asked.
"Well, I was wondering if we could dance, could we?" he asked.
"Sure! Why not?"
"Great!"
"Good night everypony! See you all soon!" Rainbow yelled from the carriage.
"Aren't you gonna throw the bouquet?" Soarin asked.
"Oh, right!"
Rainbow threw the bouquet, and it landed in Twilight's hooves. She and Timber instantly looked away from each other. All of her friends giggled a little bit.
"I SHIP IT!!" Pinkie Pie yelled.
The two looked at each other for a moment, then looked away from each other again.
"I'll design the wedding dress!" Rarity said.
"We're not even dating." Twilight said.
"Soon my friend, soon." Pinkie said.
"Heh, okay then, I gotta go home. Bye guys!" Twilight said while walking home.
"Bye Twilight!" everypony said.
As the carriage descended down the road, Rainbow and Soarin didn't talk at all. They just stared into each other's eyes happily, enjoying the moment. This was truly the best day ever.
