Prologue

I led my friends Sonata Dusk and Aria Blaze around the corridor; the guards were on our heels and we were running out of places to run. It was as if the dungeon was an endless maze. We were desperately trying to find a way to escape.

"Hold it right there!" a guard said, cutting us off.

Startled, I gasped.

"Never!" I snarled, teleporting myself (I'm a Unicorn) and my friends farther down the corridor.

Wherever we turned there were always more guards or a dead end. I was beginning to lose hope. It was like this world just wanted us to get banished.

"Dagi, what will happen if we get banished?" Sonata asked.

"I won't let us get banished," I answered.

"Really, Adagio? Because it seems to me like we're definitely going to be banished," Aria said bitterly.

I turned sharply to face my pessimistic friend.

"Just hush, would you?" I said.

I turned back to my original position and proceeded to lead the girls forward. We rounded a few more corners and it seemed we were safe, but we still hadn't escaped.

We still needed to reach an upper level of the castle, which would require some sneaking around in order to get out. We climbed up a set of stairs and went in a hall that would lead us out. However, just when we thought we going to make it out, we encountered Starswirl the Bearded.

He looked disappointed. "Adagio, I had hoped it was never going to come down to this and that you would stray from the dark path you're on, but now it seems you've given me no choice but to banish you and your followers from Equestria forever," he said.

I confidently stepped forward.

"Well, you'll have to fight me first. The winner stays while the loser leaves Equestria forever," I said with a confident sneer.

"I had always hoped I could take you on horn to horn, but I never thought it would be like this. You have one last chance to change and give up your Siren Stone before I banish you. Will you agree?" Starswirl said.

I narrowed my eyes.

"No," I said, smirking.

"Challenge accepted," Starswirl said.

He fired a beam of magic from his horn. I fired an energy ball from my horn as an interception. As the two forms of magic collided, it created a dust cover similar to a smokescreen enabling us to sneak away.

I knew that if we were to go outside now, we would be caught. So, I led the girls into a room with a magic mirror that led to another world. I motioned for everyone to jump through the mirror. There were guards on our tail as we dove for the mirror. The portal led us to the human world, which was so similar yet different from Equestria.

What A Strange New World?

"Ugh," I groaned. "Is everyone OK?" What in the world happened? How in the world did I almost lose to some old unicorn? I reached out to prop myself up with my hand.

"Yeah, barely," my friend Aria said, getting up off the ground.

"Owie! That hurt!" my other friend, Sonata, said.

"What are we?" Aria said, curiously raising her hand up and wiggling her fingers in front of her face.

"Humans, Aria Blaze," I said.

"Oh! I know what those are!" Sonata said.

Aria and I exchanged shocked glances; since when does Sonata, the girl with the brain of a three year old, know anything?

"You do?" I said.

"Yeah. They're those mythical, old-timey, two-legged creatures that live in the Frozen North," Sonata explained.

I figured as much.

"Oh yeah, that's exactly what they are," I sarcastically said, rolling my eyes.

"For realsies?!" Sonata exclaimed.

"No," I said.

"Oh, okay. If you say so," Sonata said.

"Dagi, what're we going to do now?" Sonata asked.

"Yeah, Adagio, what are we going to do?" Aria said.

"We've been banished to this completely unknown world with no place to go."

"Don't worry, I've been here several times before," I said.

"What? When?" Aria said.

"I was curious about these alternate worlds as well as the creatures who existed within them, but it would have been too difficult to sneak here unnoticed. I'd taken advantage of the fact my family was close with Celestia so I could get special permission from her to access these worlds," I explained. "She wouldn't give me the permission I needed so I sang to her to 'convince' her to give me what I wanted," I added.

"You're smart," Aria said.

"It's a gift," I said, tossing my hair.

"Where did you get it? Or who got it for you? I mean," Sonata said.

"It's a figure of speech, Sonata," I said.

Sonata definitely was not the brightest nor the sharpest person, but what she does have is cuteness. Her cuteness makes us look innocent and harmless, but we could really make someone pay if they messed with us.

I got to my feet and placed my hands on my hips.

"Follow my lead, I'll show you where we're staying," I said.

"Or, we can follow my lead, and you can tell me where we need to go," Aria said.

I whipped around and grabbed her by the collar of her shirt.

"My lead," I said firmly.

Aria crossed her arms and pouted angrily.

"Oh, and Aria sweetie, green isn't a very pretty color on you," I sneered.

Aria glanced down at her fringed jacket.

"It's not green, it's aqua," she fired back.

I rolled my eyes. I didn't expect Aria to misinterpret my insult since that's usually Sonata's thing.

"I meant jealousy isn't a good look for you," I explained, walking off.

Aria let out an annoyed huff.

She thinks she can be the leader? Please. She's not even on the same level as me, not to mention she gets worked up so easily.

"Where are we going?" Sonata asked curiously.

"I have an apartment in the city that's the perfect size for the three of us," I said.

"Where's the city?" Aria asked.

"Just follow me and you'll find out," I answered firmly.

We walked down the sidewalk. I figured while we're here I ought to show them around a bit.

"So to the left is a local boutique, called Carousel Boutique. I've never been there but the reviews on the internet are decent," I explained.

"What's the internet?" Aria asked.

"It's a place on computers and mobile devices where people can go and look up stuff, shop, read fan-fictions, etcetera," I explained.

"Cool! I still have that cell phone you gave me once, can that get internet?" Aria said, intrigued.

"Yes. You can also download music via the internet, but most of it is by a bunch of auto-tuned wannabes," I said.

Contrary to what you may believe or may have heard, we actually weren't banished thousands of years ago (which means I'm not thousands of years old, thank you very much). History books have it all wrong. For example, the books say that we're Sirens but really we're half-pony and half-Siren, and the books call us 'the Sirens' but really we're the Dazzlings.

"And on the right is a high-end furniture store, which I get all my furniture from," I said.

Aria and Sonata were paying close attention. I walked down a bit farther.

"Here's Canterlot Café. It's a pretty nice place to hang out," I said.

I kept walking along naming all the different places. It wasn't long until we reached the building that our apartment is in.

"And here we are," I said as we arrived at a very fashionable high-end building.

"This place is cool," Aria said, impressed.

"Isn't it? I only pick the most stylish things," I said.

"I love it!" Sonata chirped.

"It is very stylish," Aria said.

"Thanks," I said, "now come in."

I opened the door.

"Good evening, Adagio," the receptionist greeted. "How're you?"

"Fine, thank you. And you?" I said.

I didn't actually care, but I didn't want to come across like anything and cause suspicions to arise.

"Great, thank you," the receptionist said.

I gave her friendly smile as I walked off. I stopped in my tracks, remembering that I probably should introduce her to the girls and make mention that they'll be living with me. I introduced her to the girls, who went along with my mild-mannered attitude.

The girls and I stepped into the nearby elevator.

"So what does this thing do?" Aria asked.

"It takes us up as many floors as we need to go after we hit those buttons- which Sonata is now pressing like a maniac," I said.

Sonata turned around with a happy grin on her face after she had hit every single button.

"It looks like a Hearth's Warming eve tree!" Sonata said, beaming.

I slapped my forehead and groaned.

"Great, now we have to go up all of these floors," I said. "But for realsies, doesn't it look like a Hearth's Warming tree?" Sonata said, completely ignoring me as usual.

"Sonata, shut up," I said.

Sonata pouted and looked at me with huge eyes.

"Sonata, I'm not going to fall for your cuteness attack," I said. "Save it for an idiot like Aria Blaze."

"Hey!" Aria exclaimed, "I'm not an idiot, Adagio."

"Sure," I said sarcastically, "anyways."

It took about an hour or so for the elevator to finally get done stopping at every other floor before it stopped inside of our penthouse (that's right, we live in a penthouse).

"Don't ever do that again," I told Sonata.

"Aww, but it was so fun!" she protested.

"No," I said firmly.

"Okay, fine," Sonata said.

We walked into the main room of our penthouse.

"Wow," Aria and Sonata breathed.

"Nice, isn't it?" I said.

"Yeah," Aria said, "It's impressive."

Everything was decorated to fit the styles of all of us (minus Sonata's childish tastes, those are in her room).

"C'mon, I'll show you all to your rooms," I said.

I led them up a set of stairs into a large corridor with with two large rooms on either side.

"Aria, you and I are on the left. Sonata, your room is on the right," I explained.

"Sweet! I don't have to be next to Sonata!" Aria said.

"Trust me, that was done on purpose," I said.

"Well, I guess I owe you for saving my life, kind of," Aria said.

I laughed lightly.

"That's not necessary," I said, "I'm doing all of us a favor."

"Yaysies! I don't have be near Aria! Thanks, Dagi!" Sonata exclaimed.

I gave the girls a chance to settle in and adjust to their new surroundings. It was somewhat displacing, knowing it was next to impossible to go back to Equestria. The mirror was probably well guarded should we ever try going back, not to mention it doesn't even open for thirty more moons.

"While this is a nice place, I don't think I'll be satisfied for very long. I want to go back to Equestria," I finally said.

"I wanna go back to Equestria too. This world has... whatever it has," Aria said, "but I'd be much happier back in Equestria."

Sonata nodded in agreement.

"Well, it's settled then. We'll collect as much negative energy as we can to regain our power so we can go back to Equestria," I said with a smirk.

Living a Non-Equestrian Life

View Online

I hate this world. I hate Starswirl and I hate the jerks who hate us because we're half-pony and half-Siren. I planned to get revenge on Starswirl as soon as we got back to Equestria. I was going to take over Equestria and this world with the help Aria and Sonata. We will be adored and we won't ignored.

It was difficult to gain power here considering there was no magic here, but we were able to get by OK just by gaining power via negative energy from ordinary humans. However, the energy in this world is significantly different from that of Equestria. While I'd much rather be in Equestria, I've been able to find some things I enjoy doing here.

I ran into the living room with my phone.

"Girls, I just found the funniest video on the internet! You have to watch it!" I said.

"Show me!" Aria said.

I took a seat on the couch. Aria and Sonata crowded around me as I played the video.

The female narrator spoke. It was obvious the video had been made in order to humiliate whoever this Twilight Sparkle girl is. The girl acted as if she was a pony. How ridiculous yet interesting. I could be reading too much into this, but perhaps she's from Equestria.

"Whoever created this video is a genius," Aria said through laughter.

We laughed for a little while longer.

"So, who's ready to get their butt kicked by me in Pokémon?" I said.

"You won't be kicking my butt in that game, 'cause I'll be kicking yours!" Aria said.

"Oh. It. Is. On!" I said.

I grabbed my 3DS out of my bedroom and put in Pokémon Y. Aria was going to lose badly and I'd be laughing at her for it. It took 3 hours and we had about 25 battles or so.

"And the winner is Dagi!" Sonata declared.

"In your face," I said.

"Dang it," Aria said.

"I'm bored. I wish we were in Equestria," Sonata said.

"We all wish we were in Equestria, but we're not," I said, "so, what do you say we go somewhere and cause some trouble?"

"Let's do it!" Aria said.

I thought we'd go to Canterlot Café and cause some tension there.

"Before we go, let me change my outfit into something more comfortable since we'll be walking there," I said, running off to my room.

I opened my closet and pulled out my violet colored hoodie and a pair of jeans, then I opened the stylish jewelry box where I keep all my accessories and pulled out a spiked headband to match. I had a spiked headband to go with all of my outfits, this one had a dark violet base with short violet spikes; it was pretty much a differently colored version of the one I'm wearing right now, the only difference was the one I was wearing had light brown spikes.

I swapped out the headbands, changed into my hoodie and jeans, then slipped on a pair of sneakers instead of my studded heels. I took a moment to admire myself in the mirror. I itched my neck where I was wearing my pendant; it could get so annoying to wear it sometimes, but I'm always afraid that if I take it off it will get misplaced or broken. If my pendant ever broke, I wouldn't have the power to make everyone adore me and I'd never get back to Equestria.

I walked out into the living room. Sonata and Aria were pretty much wearing the same clothes as me except Sonata's hoodie was more of a magenta while Aria's hoodie was a dark mint color.

"Nice outfits, you two," I said, "I suppose we're going as triplets?"

I laughed lightly.

"I guess so," Aria said, laughing lightly.

"Wait. This doesn't mean I'm actually Aria's sister, right?" Sonata asked.

"No. You're not actually Aria's sister," I said.

"Good, 'cause that would really bite," Sonata said.

We took the stairs down to the outside, mainly because I didn't trust Sonata to not push all the elevator buttons again. We walked outside. It was a bit on the chilly side, but I didn't mind it too much.

"Hey, while we're out, can we go shopping?" Sonata asked.

"Hmm, I don't see why not," I said.

"Noooo," Aria groaned.

I rolled my eyes.

"C'mon, let's go," I said, grabbing Aria's arm and dragging her along.

Aria eventually willingly followed along. We went to several of stores and tried on a lot of clothes.

It took forever, but Sonata and I were able to convince Aria to try on some things. She tried on this crazy outfit consisting of a navy blue bodice, a weird almost translucent green skirt, and crazy striped leggings; what in the world was she thinking?

"I have to buy this, what do you guys think of this outfit?" Aria said.

"It's... horrible," I said.

Aria huffed.

"Whatever, I'm buying it anyways," she scoffed.

"Suit yourself," I said.

Aria walked to the counter and pulled out her cash.

"I'd like to buy this," she said to the shopkeeper.

She handed them the money and we left.

We walked down to the café. The air seemed more confrontational somehow. Fitting I suppose. When we walked in, the café was very crowded, which was perfect.

It was just too easy. All we had to do now was start singing then everyone would start fighting. I smirked smugly. I loved nothing more than causing tension and destroying relationships between others.

The girls and I walked in with our hoods on; we were concealing our identities so no one would ever know what, more like who, hit them. Now, how do I fit all of my hair into one tiny hood? That's a secret you'll never know.

We took a seat at a booth in the back of the café. We sat down and began vocalizing. Within a few seconds, everyone was completely riled up. A trail of negative energy snaked its way towards us. It entered into our pendants, which glowed faintly after absorbing it.

We removed our hoods. Aria let out a contemptuous huff.

"That was barely worth the effort, Adagio," she said, "I'm tired of fast food; I need a meal."

I rolled my eyes. I removed my hood and shook my hair out.

"The energy in this world isn't the same as in Equestria; we can only gain so much power here," I said.

I only told her that several times before.

"Ugh! I wish we had never been banished to this awful place!" Aria scoffed.

"Really? I love it here," I said sarcastically. I narrowed my eyes.

Sonata began I speaking and I switched my gaze to her.

"For realsies? Because I think this place is the worst," Sonata said.

Of course she didn't pick up on my sarcasm; because that would just be too easy. Idiot.

Then here comes Aria with one of her stupid remarks.

"I think you're the worst, Sonata," Aria scoffed.

"Oh yeah? Well I think you're—" I cut Sonata off mid-sentence

"Ergh, I'll tell you one thing: being stuck here with you two isn't making this world anymore-" I clenched my teeth. "Bearable," I growled through clenched teeth.

I looked outside and saw ominous clouds appearing. All of the sudden there was a bright beam of light shooting upwards into the sky. My eyes widened. What in the world was going on out there?

I ran outside and powerful wind whipped at me. I saw Aria and Sonata walk out. I returned my attention to the sky and suddenly a pair of rainbows shot out into the sky. My pendant shined for a brief moment.

I gasped. It couldn't be, or could it? "Did you feel that?" I said. I steadied my gaze on the sky and smirked. I looked at Aria and Sonata. "Do you know what that is?" I said, gesturing to the sky.

They looked around with puzzled expressions. "Eh, I 'unno," they said, shrugging. I expected more from... Aria, but Sonata, that was to be expected. I grabbed the collar of Aria's hoodie.

"It's Equestrian magic," I growled.

Aria looked at me as if I didn't know what I was talking about. "But this world doesn't have Equestrian magic," she protested.

I let go of her hoodie and turned around, facing the sky once more.

"Well it does now," I said, walking forward, "and we're going to use it to make everyone in this pathetic little world adore us."

I placed my right hand on my hip, smirking.

The New Girls

View Online

I had been able to locate where that Equestrian magic had come from. It had come from the school with the portal to the other world on it's front lawn; Canterlot High School. The girls and I were going to sign up as new students and cause tensions between the students there.

The girls and I walked to Canterlot High. The front lawn was filled with so much hustle and bustle. We walked into the school and went into the Principal's office.

"Hello, you must be the new girls who signed up, correct?" the vice Principal said.

"We are," I replied.

"Well, welcome to Canterlot High," the Principal said, walking in. "I'm Principal Celestia and this is my sister, Vice Principal Luna."

"Nice to meet you," I said, extending my hand for a handshake. "The name's Adagio, Adagio Dazzle. These are my friends: Sonata Dusk and Aria Blaze."

"Well, it is very nice to meet you three. I know you'll have a really nice time here at Canterlot High," Celestia said shaking my hand.

"Now, if you would please wait in the foyer; we'll have a student coming to show you around," Luna said.

The girls and I walked out into the foyer. Soon enough we were approached by another girl.

"Hi, are you the new girls I'm supposed to show around?" she asked with a smile and friendly wave.

"We are," I said stepping forward with the slightest hint of a sneer on my face.

"Canterlot High is great school, you'll really love it here," the girl said.

"Oh yes, we really sense there's something... magical about this place," I said, glancing back at Aria and Sonata who were smirking.

We walked down the hallway.

"That's the science lab," the girl said.

I glanced over in the direction she had gestured to.

"The computer lab is in there." She gestured to the right.

She dashed over to a poster a little farther down the hall.

I glanced at her quizzically.

"Oh! Canterlot High's having a big musical showcase this weekend! The whole school is pretty much rallying around it," she said.

I gasped. "A... Musical showcase?" I said, stealing a glance back at Aria and Sonata who were exchanging mischievous glances.

"I'm sure since you're new, Principal Celestia would let you sign up if you're interested," the girl said.

"We have been known to sing from time to time," Aria said nonchalantly.

Sonata butt into the conversation. How wonderful.

"Hello? We sing like, all the time!" she said.

Oh good, she didn't cross the line for once, I thought.

"It's how we get people to do what we want!" she continued.

Spoke too soon.

I gave Sonata an angry look and motioned for her to shut up.

"Wha-what did I say?" she said with a confused shrug.

I changed my expression back to a happier one.

"What you meant to say was that being in the musical showcase seems like a great way to meet other students," I said, covering for us.

"Oh yeah. What she said I meant to say. That's what I meant. To say," she said with a nonchalant hand gesture.

Of course, we can't have a stupid Sonata moment without Aria chiming in.

"Ugh, and what you would have said if you weren't. The. Worst," Aria scoffed.

"You are!" Sonata fired back.

I went and interrupted the situation.

"You'll have to excuse them," I said, pointing my thumb at Aria and Sonata. "They're idiots."

Sonata forced an awkward smile. I smiled with fake friendliness. Aria crossed her arms and pouted.

The girl looked at us with a confused expression.

There was a long pause before anyone said anything else.

"Ooh, those are pretty," the girl said, noticing our pendants. "Where did you–"

I grabbed her hand in a vice grip as she reached to touch my pendant.

Oh great, what did I just do?

I released her hand noticing that maybe I had grabbed it a bit too tight. She shook her hand as if to make the pain go away.

I laughed lightly.

"Sorry," I said voice dripping with false sweetness. "These pendants just mean awful lot to us; we'd hate for anything to happen to them."

The girls and I walked off, or at least Aria and I did. A couple seconds later we realized Sonata didn't walk off with us. I went back, grabbed Sonata's arm and pulled her away. Thankfully, she had just been standing there like the idiot she is.

"So what do you say we sign up for that musical showcase?" I said.

"Definitely," Aria said.

"Of course!" Sonata said.

"Alright then. To the Principal's office," I said.

We walked in the direction of the Principal's office. I opened the door.

"Hi, Principal Celestia," I said.

"Hi, is there something we can help you with?" Celestia said.

"Yes, we'd like to sign up for the musical showcase," I said. "But before we get started, why don't you let us sing you a song first?"

"Why sure," Celestia said.

"Girls," I said looking at Aria and Sonata.

We began vocalizing softly; it wasn't necessary to sing an actual song unless we wanted to start a full-fledged fight. This was just to put the principal and vice principal under our spell.

"Now, how about we turn this musical showcase into a battle of the bands?" I suggested.

"Certainly. I don't see why not," Celestia said. "I'll just need you to write down the name of your band on the sign up sheet."

She handed me a pencil and sign up sheet.

"Dazzlings," I said as I wrote our name down.

"Thank you, we look forward to seeing your performance," Celestia said.

"Goodbye," I said as I walked out.

"Wait one moment. I need to give you all your schedules," Celestia said.

Aria and Sonata groaned. The last thing we needed were some stupid classes getting in the way.

I reluctantly accepted the schedules from her. I wasn't going to push our luck and try singing to Celestia and Luna again; our power had already decreased greatly since we'd been banished to this world. I didn't want to mess things up for us because we tried something that would have required more power than we had.

We walked to the cafeteria. I stopped at the double doors leading into the lunch room. I turned excitedly toward the girls.

"This is it, girls: the moment we've been waiting for," I said.

Cue Sonata's stupid guess.

"Lunch?!" she exclaimed.

I smacked my forehead and groaned.

"The chance to get our true Equestrian magic back," I said.

"Oh. Right," Sonata said.

I stared into the cafeteria.

"Our voices are just strong enough to make them want something so badly, they'll fight to get it," I explained.

"So we're just gonna do what we always do? Stir up some trouble, then feed off the negative energy?" Aria said.

"Some plan, Adagio," she added sarcastically.

Who asked her, exactly?

"It won't be the same as the times before! There is Equestrian magic here. Their negative energy will give us the power we need to get this entire world to do our bidding," I explained. The beginnings of a smirk crossed my face.

You Equestrian jerks will regret the day you *ever* decided to shun us because of our half-Siren genes. After we take this world we– Sonata's voice cut through my thoughts.

"But we can get lunch after though, right? It's Taco Tuesday!" she said energetically clapping her wrists together.

Can't she ever focus on the task at hand?

"Just follow my lead," I said.

"Or my lead," Aria said nonchalantly.

That little, ugh. She's always trying to take my place as the leader of our group. I whipped around fast and grabbed her by the collar of her jacket.

"My lead," I said firmly.

I let go of her collar and marched off in an annoyed mood.

My plan? First, I'm going to rock this school, then, I'm going to take it over. Watch out Canterlot High; things are about to get ugly.

We were going to convince the entire student body to turn what was going to be a friendly musical showcase into a battle of the bands. You haven't seen anything yet. I had just the method to win over this entire school.

The girls and I, even after we get what we want, were still going to participate in the battle and show all these losers what a real band looks like. No one should dare stand in our way of they'll face consequences. As you can probably guess, I'm not a very lenient person. This battle will be intense, I'll make sure of that.

Let's Have a Battle

View Online

I pushed the doors open as a grand entrance and began vocalizing. The girls and I split between the rows of students. I began singing while Aria and Sonata kept vocalizing.

"We heard you want to get together-"

I purposely ran my hand across a student's head to get their attention.

"We heard you want to rock the school-"

I ran my hand across another student's head.

"We thought of something that is better-"

I pryingly arched an eyebrow.

"Something that changes all the rules-"

I walked over to join the girls.

"Why pretend we're all the same? When some of us shine brighter-"

The girls echoed me on 'shine brighter'. Our pendants shined and it was clear our power was growing already.

I walked over to some geek, placing my hands on his shoulders and leaning over him.

"Here's a chance to find your flame. Are you a loser or a fighter?-"

I flicked his chin and walked off, rejoining the girls.

"Me and you, you and me; why don't we see who is better?-"

We gestured to ourselves and then to the students on "me and you and me".

"We don't have to be one in the same thing-"

Sonata and Aria crossed closely in front of each other to symbolize being one in the same thing.

"Oh what's so wrong with a little competition?-"

I inquisitively arched an eyebrow now that I was the center of attention.

The girls and I took a seat in three chairs next to each other.

"Are you afraid of failing the audition?-"

We kicked one leg out one at a time then gave thumbs down one at a time. We smirked; this was going to be good.

I went over to a white and blue haired girl with a star in her hair and stroked her chin.

"You're a star you should know it-"

I walked over to a table and spread my arms out as the girls lifted me onto the table.

"Yeah, you rise above the rest-"

I strutted across to the end table, then knelt down and flicked a student's chin.

"It doesn't matter who you hurt-"

I got off the table, walked a little father and then did a dramatic sharp turn, being sure to toss my hair in the process.

"If you're just proving you're the best-"

The girls and I vocalized powerfully.

"Battle!-"

Sonata enthusiastically punched the air with her fist while maintaining an unusually serious expression.

"You want to win it!-"

Aria rushed up to a kid and poked him, gesturing 'you'.

"Let's have a battle! Battle of the bands!-"

I raised my fist enthusiastically. I then faced forward, threw my hands up into the air and spread my arms out.

"Let's have a battle! We will go all in it!-"

Aria stepped in between two groups of freshman and split them.

"Let's have a battle!-"

"Battle!-"

"Battle!-"

"Battle of the bands!-"

Now the girls and I were really egging them on.

"Battle!-"

"I can beat you!" a girl said to another girl.

"Battle!-"

"Ha! You wish!" the other girl said with a dismissive gesture.

"Battle!-"

The girls and I continued egging the students on.

"I so want this!" the white-and-blue haired girl exclaimed.

"Battle!-"

I felt at that moment that my power had grown a lot from just the time the song had started.

"Not if I get it first!" some Eco-maniac exclaimed raising his fist.

He didn't say nor do that of his own free will; I made him do it. Sonata wasn't lying (nor being an idiot, other than when blew our cover) when she had said that we sing to get people to do our bidding.

"Me and you, you and me- why don't we see who is better?-"

The girls were behind me, making the same motions as me, but you could only see their arms; symbolic of being one in the same thing. Now the crowd sang,

"We don't have to be one in the same thing-"

The girls stepped out from behind me; symbolizing not being one in the same thing.

"Oh what's so wrong with a little competition?-"

The girls and I struck poses as we sang.

"I'm going up and winning the audition!-"

"Battle!-"

"We want to win it!"

Now the crowd was riled up and the room was filled with negative energy.

"Let's have a battle!-"

"Battle of the bands!-"

"Let's have a battle!-"

"We will go all in it!-"

"Let's have a battle!-"

"Battle!-"

"Battle!-"

Mine and the girls' voices were so much stronger now than they were before, but our full power wasn't back yet. However, now we could push it a bit.

"Battle of the bands!-"

Negative energy filled our pendants. The girls and I raised our heads and extended our arms in victory. We listened to the sounds of the bickering students and liked it.

The girls and I exited the cafeteria.

"That was awesome," Aria said.

"I have to agree. That turned out a lot better than I expected," I said.

"I totally saw that one coming," Sonata said.

I gave her an acknowledging nod.

"Well, I suppose for now we ought to head to our classes. See you two later," I said with a wave as we split off to head to our classes.

I walked down the hall. What a grand entrance we'd made, singing that song.

"Hey!" I heard a friendly voice call a few minutes later.

"Hm?" I said turning slightly.

It was the girl who'd given is the tour earlier. She panted after catching up with me.

"Glad I caught up to you. I heard that you have a mythology class this period with Miss Cheerilee," she said. "I have that same class this period, so I thought we could maybe walk to class together."

"Sure. Why not?" I said with a shrug.

I was trying to look as innocent as possible, considering how bad what I had just done looked. She walked along with a happy smile on her face. It was like she'd never done this before or something.

So first of all, what's the deal with her? Second of all, why do I care? Seriously, I don't know why but I almost feel sympathetic for her. Wait a minute. Sympathy?

"So, I don't think I ever introduced myself properly; I'm Sunset Shimmer," she said.

"The name's Adagio, Adagio Dazzle," I said, extending my hand.

Sunset extended her hand as well and we shook hands.

"Nice to meet you," Sunset said.

"Nice to meet you too," I said.

"So what were the names of the girls with you?" Sunset asked.

"Aria Blaze and Sonata Dusk are their names," I said.

"Oh those are cool names," Sunset said. "Are you guys musicians or something?"

"Oh, yes. We travel a lot and enter competitions," I said.

"Oh, that explains why you wanted to turn the showcase into a Battle of the Bands," Sunset said.

I laughed lightly.

"Yeah, we do get a little carried away occasionally and forget what these showcases are really about," I said, trying to play mine and the girls' actions off as if we got carried away.

"I can understand, sometimes when you're excited you get kind of carried away," Sunset said.

"So where are you from?" she continued.

"I'm from Canterlot," I said.

"Oh! I live in Canterlot too! Hey, where do you live- maybe we're neighbors," Sunset said.

"I live in the big, pearl-colored building downtown," I said.

Gah! Why was I telling her all of this? Stop being so easy to talk to!

"Hey! That means we're neighbors!" Sunset said. "I live in the same building!"

"Oh, great," I said, faking happiness.

"Oh, hey we're here already!" Sunset said. "Today's class should be interesting. We're going to learn about Sirens, I wonder if they're anything like Equestrian Sirens."

"Equestrian Sirens?" I said, arching an eyebrow.

Just how much did this girl know?

She chuckled nervously.

"Um, forget I ever said anything," she said.

We walked into the classroom.

"Hey, Adagio, there's an empty seat next to me if you wanna sit together," Sunset said.

"Sure," I said with a shrug.

Ironically enough, I almost, almost sort of like this girl, but I'm not letting her stand in my way of winning.

I took a seat next to Sunset when some kid tapped me on the shoulder.

"Hey, fair warning, you shouldn't sit next to her; she's evil," they said. I whipped my head around to face them.

"Listen, you little brat, you can't judge someone just because of what they are or what they've done in the past. I'll see for myself if she's evil or not," I snarled.

They backed off after dealing with my sharp tongue. The only two people I've ever known to be able to handle my sharp tongue are Aria and Sonata.

"What's the matter Adagio?" Sunset asked.

"Some idiot told me you were evil," I said.

"Oh, well, if you want to hate me now too just go on ahead." Sunset lowered her head into her arms as if to cry.

A sneer crossed my face. Looks like I just found someone's weak point, I thought. I gave her a compassionate pat on her back.

"Don't worry, I told them to hush. I won't judge you based upon what someone else has said about you; I'll see for myself who you are," I said softly. "I'm not like those Equestrian jerks."

She looked up at me, teary eyed.

"Thank you," she said.

"Now what do you say we listen to Miss Cheerilee's lesson?" I suggested.

Sunset nodded.

We listened intently. I was surprised at how similar the mythical Sirens here were to Equestrian Sirens.

"Now, I know the musical showcase is coming up this weekend, but I will be assigning you all projects to work on. You may choose your partner and you can choose any of the myths we have covered thus far," Cheerilee said.

Oh great. Just what I needed; something to interfere as I try and take over this pathetic little world. A bunch of kids walked up to me and asked if I would be their partner but I sharply declined.

"Why in the world would I partner with people who judge others just because of their previous actions?" I said sharply.

"In other words, Sunset, care to be my partner?" I said.

"Really?" Sunset said.

"Mhm," I said with a nod.

Cheerilee clapped her hands to get everyone's attention.

"Alright, does everyone have a partner?" she asked.

"Yes," everyone replied.

"Alright then, I can't wait to see your projects! Have a good afternoon!" Cheerilee said, well, cheerily.

We walked out of the classroom. Sunset and I walked together to our next class.

"Hey, can I see your schedule?" she asked.

"Sure," I said, pulling the schedule out of my pocket (I have those, they just aren't obvious).

I don't keep anything in my hair because that's a little unsanitary.

"Thanks," Sunset said. "Oh, hey! We have all of our classes together!"

"Yay!" I said, faking happiness. "Hey, Sonata's in our next class. I'll take that time to introduce you two," I said.

"That's awesome! Which one is Sonata?" Sunset asked.

"Sonata is the quirky blue-haired one," I said.

"And so Aria's the grouchy one?" Sunset asked.

"Exactly," I replied. "You catch on fast."

Sunset's pretty sharp, yet gullible all at the same time. I'll introduce Sunset to the girls and see if I can persuade them to let her join our group. Sunset's pretty desperate for friends and everyone seems to dislike her. I'll lure her into our group and then she won't even know she's helping carry out the Dazzlings' evil plot, I thought.

The Process of Approval

View Online

We walked into history class. We had a good few minutes to kill before class actually started, so I took the time to introduce Sunset to Sonata. But of course, Sonata was being a complete weirdo as usual.

"Heya, Dagi! And nice girl I don't know the name of!" Sonata said, waving cutely.

"Hi," Sunset said with a bright smile and happy wave.

"My name is Sunset Shimmer, and you're Sonata, right?"

"Yep! That's me alright," Sonata said. "I'm Sonata Dusk!"

"Sonata, this is my new friend, Sunset Shimmer," I said.

"Aww, you're so cute, I wanna squeeze your little cheeks off!" Sonata said to Sunset as she reached to grab Sunset's cheeks. I slapped Sonata's hands down.

"Sonata, don't be so weird," I said.

"Oh, I need to introduce you to my other friend," Sonata said, ignoring me. She reached into my hair.

"Ow! Sonata what're you doing? You're pulling my hair," I said. She pulled a stuffed pony plush out of my hair.

She held it out to Sunset Shimmer. "This is Mr. Miggots," Sonata said with a grin.

"Um, he's cute," Sunset said, forcing a smile.

I walked up to her.

"Sorry, she's strange like that," I said. "And, apparently she stores things in my hair."

Sunset giggled. "It's fine, I have a friend like that named Pinkie Pie, except Pinkie's a bit more insane," Sunset said.

Sonata's face turned bright red.

"Pinkie Pie, eh?" Sonata said, "my rival in cuteness!"

I gave her a quizzical look. "This is only your first day here, how do you have a rival already?" I asked.

"Especially considering it's only sixth period," Sunset said.

"It was 13:56 P.M. and the young Sonata Dusk was walking to her fifth period class-" the bell rang right as Sonata was beginning her story.

'Saved by the bell, literally,' I thought.

I exhaled a sigh of relief. Sunset looked relieved as well.

Our history teacher, Cranky Doodle (I know, it's such a weird name), walked in and class began. I sat next to Sunset again and Sonata sat a little father away from us. As Cranky spoke I began tuning him out because I was uninterested.

Sunset leaned over to me. "So where did you get your necklace anyway?" she whispered.

"This is school, I came here to learn," I said sarcastically.

We laughed quietly.

"But really, where did you get it? It's so pretty," Sunset inquired.

I began sweating a little. It's not like I could tell her the truth.

"I got it from my parents, so I don't know where it came from," I lied through my teeth.

"Oh, then, what about Aria and Sonata's necklaces?" Sunset pried (she wasn't actually prying; it just felt that way).

"My parents gave them to us to symbolize our friendship, and we wanted a matching accessory so it could be like a symbol for our band and symbolize we're bandmates," I lied.

"Oh that's so cool!" Sunset whispered.

We turned our attention back to Cranky. It was only a few more minutes until the hall break before our next class.

The bell rang to end class. Sunset, Sonata, and I all had the next period together with Aria Blaze. Aria was the last one I needed to introduce Sunset to. After school the girls and I would make a decision as to whether or not Sunset could join the Dazzlings.

Of course, if Sunset joined us, she'd never be a full-fledged member of the Dazzlings. We would only be using her; we'd take advantage of her insecurities and exploit those weaknesses to get her to do our bidding.

'Yes that's exactly what we'll do,' I thought.

Sunset practically skipped down the hall. She must really think I'm really interested in being her friend which was perfect for what I was planning. I had an extra stone for a pendant too, if we happen to sway her goodness. She and Sonata seemed get along well, which would make things easier, because then we could outvote Aria.

"Dagi, keep up! You're lagging behind!" Sonata said.

I quickened my pace a bit. We rounded a corner and saw Aria.

"Hey, Adagio and Sonata and, oh?" Aria glanced quizzically at Sunset.

"What is she doing here?" Aria said contemptuously.

Sunset glanced at me with a look that read "Should I be here?".

"Don't worry," I said to her. "Aria, this is my new friend, Sunset Shimmer," I explained.

"Yeah, back off, Aria!" Sonata said.

"Pardon me, I thought she was some creepy fan-girl stalking you all," Aria said with a wink at me.

"Yes, no worries there," I said, "ahe and I have all of our classes together so we've been walking with each other."

"Oh, in that case, nice to meet you, uh, properly. I'm Aria Blaze," Aria said.

"I'm Sunset Shimmer. Glad to meet you, properly," Sunset said.

"She and I working on a project together in our mythology class," I said.

"Sounds interesting. What are you doing your project on?" Aria said.

"I was thinking Sirens, maybe," Sunset said.

The girls and I exchanged shocked glances. Did Sunset Shimmer know something about us?

"That's not a bad idea," I said.

I wanted to see just how much she knew about Equestria and if she knew anything about us.

"Well, we'd better get to class. Come with us, Aria," I said.

We walked off and Aria followed.

My plan was going extremely well, there were just two issues: Sunset Shimmer seemed to know about Equestria and she was friends with one of the opposing bands.

I could barely contain my excitement. Ever since I got here, my heart's been racing. I was ready to mull a few things over tonight. It's been so crazy.

I was going to enjoy this next class. It had to do with music. Sunset told me the entire class was going to perform in front of the whole school in honor of the musical showcase this weekend.

"Hey, do you think maybe we can not make this one a competition?" Sunset asked.

"Sure," I said. I'm being a bit lenient so I can convince Sunset Shimmer we're nice and get her to side with us.

The teacher offered to let us skip since we're new, but the girls and I couldn't pass up a performance opportunity. Dare I say, we rocked it and pretty much stole the show. After that was finally the end of the day.

To be completely honest, I actually had fun today. We had so many laughs. Something told me it wouldn't be hard to convince the girls to allow Sunset into the group if necessary.

We all walked down the hall confidently. It was like a scene from a movie, kind of. As we walked down the hall I heard students muttering to each other about how we were hanging out with Sunset Shimmer. Apparently she's got quite the reputation around here; what that reputation is, I don't know yet.

People stared at us condescendingly and Sunset would shrink back. I would stare down these jerks as they stared at us. They couldn't meet my gaze. There was absolutely nothing that could faze or sway me.

"So, Sunset Shimmer, I think the four of us should exchange phone numbers," I said.

"No kidding?!" Sunset exclaimed.

"No kidding," I said.

"Let's do it then!" Sunset said.

We all exchanged phone numbers.

"Hey, I'll text you our address. So you can visit whenever," I said.

"Yeah, we can have fun like this all the time," Aria said with a bit of enthusiasm. How unusual.

"See you tomorrow, new bestie!" Sonata exclaimed.

"See you tomorrow, unless you wanted to start on our project today," I said.

"Nah, this was your first day. We'll get started tomorrow," Sunset said.

We walked out of the school laughing after Sonata sent us all a group text consisting only of taco emoticons.

"Hey, maybe we should walk home together," Sunset suggested, with a bit more confidence than earlier.

"Girls?" I said.

The girls nodded in agreement.

We walked home together. It was so strange, but the girls and I were all so at ease around Sunset Shimmer. I'm somewhat puzzled by it, actually.

Pondering And Practicing

The girls and I walked into our penthouse.

"What happened?" I said, throwing myself onto the couch.

"I have no idea," Aria said, "it was like we start talking to this girl and it just made me feel so relaxed and easy."

"Same here," Sonata agreed.

"She's just so easy to talk to," I said, "however, I know a weakness she has that we can exploit."

"So that's why you were so interested in being nice to her. So you could gain her trust and then exploit her weakness without her knowing," Aria said.

Exactly," I said.

"That seems kinda meanie, don't you think?" Sonata said.

"We're villains, Sonata," I said.

"Oh. Right," Sonata said, "but she's so cute, I just wanna squeeze her little cheeks off."

"Sonata, maybe Adagio might let her join us," Aria said, clearly on the same page as me.

"That's what I was planning, but let's think this over some more during the next couple of days," I said.

The girls nodded in agreement.

"In the meantime, this weekend is Battle of The Bands," I said, "let's discuss our plan."

"Alright, so what song are we performing this weekend?" Aria asked.

"I wrote one called 'Under Our Spell'. There'll be a killer drum bass drop in there," I said, "of course, the background music will be pre-recorded and we'll sing to it."

"Sounds awesome. D'you wanna rehearse it real quick?" Aria asked.

"Yes. Let's get to it!" I said.

I already composed the song myself on my computer and saved to several different external storage devices. I kept all the storage devices hidden so no one could find them and utilize our song or use it against us.

The girls and I rehearsed I quick bit of the song.

"Oh whoa oh-"

"Oh whoa oh-"

"You didn't know that'cha fell-"

"Oh whoa oh-"

"Oh whoa oh-"

"Now that you're under our spell-"

"Blindsided by the beat, clappin' your hands, stompin' your feet-"

"You didn't know that'cha fell-"

The girls vocalized a bit.

"Now you've fallen under our spell-"

The girls vocalized again.

"We've got the music; makes you move it-"

"Got the song that makes you lose it-"

"We say 'jump', you say 'how high?'-"

"Put your hands up to the sky-"

"We've got the music; makes you move it-"

"Got the song that makes you lose it-"

"We say 'jump', you say 'how high?'-"

"Put your hands up to the sky!-"

"Oh whoa oh-"

"Oh whoa oh-"

"You didn't know that'cha fell-"

"Oh whoa oh-"

"Oh whoa oh-"

"Now that under our spell-"

Next was my solo part.

"Listen to the sound of my voice-"

The girls vocalized.

"And soon you'll find you don't have choice-"

The girls vocalized again.

"Captured in the web of my song-"

"Soon you'll all be singing along-"

I motioned to the girls to stop.

"Fantastic job! We're going to nail it for sure," I said.

"Since when do we not nail it?" Sonata said.

"I hate to say it, but Sonata's right," Aria said.

I decided we'd rehearse the song a several more times over, this time with the dance moves to go with it.

"So," I drawled after we finally finished.

I looked up at the clock on the wall. It was 8:30 already.

"What do you say we go to bed early?" I suggested.

No one objected.

The girls and I headed off to bed. I pulled my pajamas out of my closet and put them on. They were a pretty shade of lavender with a gem and treble clef (my cutie mark, basically) sewn to the corners of the bottom of the legs on the baggy pants. I was ready to think over the events of today. So much had happened over the course of today.

There was something about Sunset Shimmer that was bugging me that I couldn't quite shake. She didn't seem to have anyone she was close friends with; she had mentioned being friends with some girls who called themselves the 'Equestria Girls' that have a band called the 'Rainbooms' but they didn't invite her to join the band. The fact that she wasn't really a part of a group makes things even easier for me.

My plan was just becoming easier and easier to carry out. I was counting down the days until Battle of the Bands. There was only three days before the competition. The introductory party or whatever it is, was two days from now, though.

I stared out my window; lost in thought. It was beginning to feel like my life in Equestria was just a distant dream. I sighed. I'm beginning to wonder if I'll ever get back to Equestria.

What am I thinking? Of course I'm going to get back to Equestria! I'm not letting anyone stop me! Anyone who stands in my way will face the wrath of a real Siren; the cutesy pony side won't be seen and instead the menacing Siren side will be brought out.

In Equestria, I have the ability to transform into an all-powerful Siren at will, as do the girls. We can be ponies or Sirens at any specified time. As Sirens, the girls and I can turn even the calmest sea into a raging one and we can fight using our voices. As ponies, our voices can be used to put anyone under a spell and lure anyone into a false sense of security.

I'm not ashamed in the very least that I'm cunning like this. It's a part of who I am; it always has been and always will be. Anyways, in Equestria, I usually stay in my pony form unless I needed to be in my Siren form for some specific reason.

So, I'd really like to know how much Sunset Shimmer knows about Equestrian Sirens. I wonder if she's from Equestria. If she is, was she a pony or something else? Was she banished here or did she come here? I thought.

I yawned.

I should get to sleep. Tomorrow is going to be another long day.

Working on the Project

View Online

It had only been a couple of hours since school had released for the day but Sunset Shimmer and I were already hard at work on the project. She had insisted upon drawing our interpretation of what Sirens looked like using paints, markers, and colored pencils.

"So, what were you and your friends up to the other day?" Sunset asked.

"Oh, you know, just practicing for the band competition," I said.

"Oh, that must've been fun," Sunset said, turning away as if to ignore a painful memory.

"Something wrong?" I asked.

"Oh, um, it's nothing," Sunset replied.

She said something under her breath that I couldn't quite make out. I decided not to concern myself with it. I began illustrating the first Siren related thing that popped into my mind.

I was drawing my Siren form. Sunset looked over to see what I was doing.

"Ooh, that's so pretty! It kind of looks like a– never mind," she said.

"Thanks," I replied.

I heard Sunset take a deep breath.

"Can I tell you something I don't usually tell anyone?" she said.

"Sure," I said nonchalantly.

"But you have to promise not to think I'm totally crazy," Sunset said.

"I promise," I said.

She took another deep breath.

"I'm a pony, a Unicorn specifically, from a place called Equestria," Sunset said.

I gasped.

I felt myself beginning to smirk.

I clapped my hands over my mouth so Sunset couldn't see. I pulled myself together and removed my hands from over my mouth.

"Oho, how… interesting. I'm a pony who's also a Unicorn from Equestria," I said.

"So, did you know, and please don't take this offensively, there's a Siren with the same name as you?" Sunset said.

Oh no. She knows about the Siren me! I thought.

I laughed lightly. "Ahahaha, is there?"

"Yes, but she's evil," Sunset said.

"Or maybe she's just misunderstood?" I suggested.

"You could be right. The old me was a villain, but that was because she knew nothing about friendship. Even though now I've changed, nobody likes me, so I guess I'm misunderstood." Sunset shed a tear. "Anyways, um, back to our project."

I wanted to tell Sunset that I felt her pain, but at the same time I didn't. The least I did was give her a compassionate look.

"So, I was thinking next to each illustration we could write a fact we learned in class," Sunset said.

"I like that idea," I said.

"Thanks," Sunset said. ”I'm glad someone appreciates my ideas."

She began drawing an Equestrian Siren as well.

"Looking good," I said. "What are you going to color it with?"

"I thought paints would look nice," Sunset said.

"Nice idea," I said. "Paints add a nice majestic touch to pictures and so they're perfect for the more fantastical creatures such as Sirens."

"Thanks!" Sunset said. "I've been learning some painting techniques in an extra curricular course I'm taking and I was excited to try them out."

"That's nifty," I said.

"Yeah. So, anyways, if you're a pony from Equestria; what brought you here?" Sunset said.

"Hm?" I said.

"Like, I don't know, did you come here out of curiosity or some other motive?" Sunset said.

I laughed lightly.

"Oh, just curiosity," I said.

Sunset glanced at me quizzically. "Why do you do that?" she asked.

"Do what?" I said, confused.

"You laugh and then say what you're going to say," Sunset said. "Are you hiding something?"

"No. I'm not hiding anything," I growled.

"Oh, sorry, I didn't mean to– um, never mind," Sunset said.

I gave a quick, sassy toss of my hair.

"I'm sorry. I shouldn't have doubted you like that," Sunset apologized.

Little did she know, I was hiding something; something that would affect her and this entire world.

"No, it's fine," I lied. "Isn't that what friends do sometimes? They make mistakes or say things and then forgive each other?"

Sunset looked at me, teary eyed. "I wouldn't know. Maybe you should ask someone who knows more about friendship," she said.

For once, I had no idea what to say. I don't really know what to do when someone's sad or unhappy; I feed off of negativity, how was I supposed to make someone feel better? If it was Aria and Sonata, that would be a simple task; we've known each other forever. But Sunset is my enemy, so she's a different case.

"Anyways, we should keep working on our project," Sunset said. "If we keep going on like this we won't get done."

We continued working on our project. What is the deal with Sunset Shimmer? Who are these Equestria Girls? From the way Sunset talks about them, they kind of sound like jerks and they don't even mean to be. I don't care but, it's just kind of curious, I thought. Since she hangs out with them, maybe I can fish some useful information out of her.

"So-o-o," I said. "What's with your interest in Sirens?"

"They're just so fascinating. It's mainly just Equestrian Sirens that I'm interested in, though," Sunset said. "Why do you ask?"

"Just trying to get to know you," I lied.

Sunset sighed. "Do you ever have a day where you just have had enough of people judging you based upon who or what you are and wish they'd try getting to know you?" she asked.

I sighed and crouched down next to her. "I do," I admitted. "I feel that way all the time."

"You know, Adagio, you're the first person I've ever met who really understands me," Sunset said.

And you're the only one who understands me and my friends, I thought.

"Really?" I said, interest piqued.

"Mhm," Sunset said.

She glanced down at her phone. "Oh! Would you look at the time? I'd better get going! I'll see you tomorrow!" she said, picking everything up.

Sunset waved as she dashed off. I gave a wave as well before walking back home. It felt a little odd to be myself for once.

The girls and I were rarely ever apart. Ever since we had all become friends, right from the start we did everything together. It made me realize how much I missed those idiots when they weren't around.

I just so happened to run into Sonata and Aria on the way back.

"Heya Dagi!" Sonata exclaimed.

"Hey, Adagio," Aria said nonchalantly.

"Hello, you two," I said.

"So, how'd it go?" Aria asked.

"Great. She told me some rather interesting information," I said. "Let's discuss these matters later on when we get back."

The girls nodded and we walked back.

"So, what have you two been up to?" I asked.

"Nothing much," Aria said. "But I did do some research on Canterlot High."

"Oh?" I said. "And what did you find?"

"Can we talk about this at the café?" Aria said. "I don't want anyone eavesdropping on us. I chose the café because everyone pretty much splits when we go there."

"Alright then. Let's go," I said. We started to head in the direction of the café.

We opened the doors to the café. Everyone split from the scene, except for the employees. I approached the counter.

"What can I get for you?" the employee asked in a friendly tone.

"Hey girls! Do you want anything?" I said, turning toward them.

"I wanna strawberry milkshake," Aria said.

"And I wanna a chocolate milkshake!" Sonata said.

I turned back to the counter. "We'll take three milkshakes; one strawberry, one chocolate, one vanilla," I said.

The employee nodded and went to prepare the milkshakes. I leaned back and rested my elbow on the counter. I found myself beginning to play around with my pendant. The employee walked back and sat the milkshakes down on the counter.

"Here ya go," she said. "That'll be three dollars and seventy-five cents."

I handed her the money, then walked back to join the girls. I sat down and handed them their milkshakes.

"So, what did you find?" I said, arching an inquisitive eyebrow.

"You won't believe what I found out about the Equestrian magic. So do you remember the night we found out there's Equestrian magic here?" Aria said.

"Yes, Aria, I remember that night," I said. "It was very eventful."

"Well, remember those five girls with Sunset Shimmer in the cafeteria?" Aria asked.

Interesting Information

I flicked my bangs.

"Yes. And your point is?"

"Well, my research has led me to believe they may know something of interest to us," Aria said.

"What is it?" I asked.

"I don't know yet," Aria replied.

"But what I do know is that they were at Canterlot High that night, " Aria continued. "So they may know something about the Equestrian magic."

"Interesting..." I said with a smirk. "We'll have to keep a close eye on them in that case."

I shifted my gaze to Sonata.

"Do you have anything to report?"

"Yeah. I heard that on that one night, cute widdle Sunset Shimmer turned into a big, scary monster!" Sonata exclaimed.

"That's peculiar. But, I think I may have some explanation why," I said.

"For realsies?!" Sonata exclaimed in shock.

"For reals- Yeah," I said.

"What is it, Adagio?" Aria said.

"Sunset had said something about the 'old her' being evil once," I said.

"Cute little Sunset Shimmer– evil?!" Sonata exclaimed, horrified.

"I couldn't believe it either," I said.

"So, Sunset Shimmer used to be evil?" Aria said, interest piqued.

"Yes. That's why no one hangs out with her," I said.

"So, Adagio, what's the plan?" Aria asked.

"I'll wait for the perfect opportunity to use this information against her," I said. "Perhaps if she finds out our true intentions I can blackmail her using this information."

"Uh, Adagio, I think you're forgetting something," Aria said. "We're supposed to be playing innocent, remember?"

"Of course I remember!" I said. "I'm just done playing innocent! I'm going to keep at it up until the party for the battle of the bands this Friday, then and only then will I reveal myself as a villain."

"That's what I wanna hear," Aria said.

"Yaysies!" Sonata cheered. "I'm so excited. I get to make the fruit punch!"

"Yeah. And it's gonna be the worst, just like you," Aria remarked.

"Nuh-uh! 'Cause you are. The worst," Sonata fired back.

I groaned.

"It's like I told you before, this world is not becoming any more bearable being stuck here with you two," I said.

"Anyways, I was thinking about letting Sunset Shimmer join us. But, of course, we'll only be using her and we'll just kick her out once we're done with her," I said.

"Sounds like a plan to me," Aria said.

"But, if she turns evil, can we keep her?" Sonata said. "She's just too cute!"

"Ugh, maybe," I growled.

"Okay," Sonata said.

"So, Adagio. What's the plan for Friday?" Aria asked.

"We show up and wait for the perfect opportunity to stir up some trouble. Though, we may not need to wait considering how easily these students fall apart," I said.

"Do you think we'll get back to Equestria soon, Dagi?" Sonata asked.

"Yes. Very soon," I said.

Aria and Sonata exchanged mischievous glances.

"Let me tell you some things you need to be aware of regarding Sunset Shimmer," I said.

"Alright. Talk away," Aria said.

"Yeah, chat away Dagi!" Sonata said.

"Okay, and whatever I tell you, be sure to heed it," I said.

"First of all, she knows about us being Sirens, but she doesn't think we're the Sirens she's talking about as far as I know," I said.

"Then are you sure we should reveal ourselves as villains on Friday?" Aria asked.

"Yes. I don't care if she finds out the truth about us. She'd better be careful, or I might just summon my Siren form on her once I'm powerful enough," I said confidently. "Well, maybe not. Since she's so pathetic there's probably is no need to do so."

"Alright then, anything else we should know?" Aria asked.

"She's from Equestria," I said.

"So, is it possible she could be a source of Equestrian magic?" Aria inquired.

"Most likely so," I said.

"Apparently, Sunset Shimmer has issues being liked by others," I said.

"So what are you trying to say?" Aria asked.

"That we could be BFFs with her?!" Sonata guessed.

"No. We're not going to be friends with her," I replied coolly.

"What I'm saying is that we can exploit that common ground to our advantage, should we need to convince her to join us," I said.

"Nice," Aria said.

"Thanks," I said. "She's already insecure enough that if we exploit that common ground it'll be easier to get her to join us."

"No offense, but I'm glad you've finally come to your senses," Aria said.

"Excuse me?" I said, arching an eyebrow.

"For a while there you seemed like you were going soft on us," Aria said. "It was almost as if you liked Sunset Shimmer."

My face turned a bright red.

"I do not like her in anyway shape or form! In fact, I hate her!" I raged, pounding the table with my hands as I stood up angrily.

"Settle down, Adagio. The more you get upset, the more that tells me you do like her," Aria said.

Me? Like Sunset Shimmer?! I'd like to see Aria try and prove that!

I sat back down and quietly sipped on my milkshake.

I really shouldn't have let Aria's off-hand comment throw me into a rage like that, but for some odd reason I just couldn't help it.

I took a deep breath and then exhaled to calm myself down.

"Anyways," I said calmly.

"So, here's a quick review of the plan. Friday: we reveal ourselves as villains, we stir up some trouble so we can gain more power. For the battle of the bands, we won't bring out the showstopper song until our full power is back. We aren't going to befriend Sunset Shimmer, we will just simply use her if necessary. Understood?" I said.

Sonata nodded excitedly and Aria let out an 'mhm'.

It was nearing the time to put our plan into motion again. There could be no mistakes because now there was no room for error.

Soon, the entire world would be under our control and I refuse to show mercy to anyone who stands in our way. After conquering this world, the girls and I were going to move on to Equestria. This might seem farfetched, but I know the girls and I can do anything if we just stick together and have each other's backs. I think we're a perfect team; sure, Aria and Sonata are idiots, but the rivalry or whatever is between them, makes them better since they refuse to let the other outdo them and they support me well.

There's one thing I just don't understand. Why does Sunset Shimmer make feel so at ease? I'm half-Siren so I'm aggressive by nature, or so I thought. But when I think about the girls, especially Sonata, they're not very aggressive until they start singing. I shouldn't feel so at ease, because my whole life I've felt like I connect more with the aggressive Siren side of me than the friendly pony side.

I like being a pony, but when I act upon instinct, instead of acting upon pony instincts I normally act on Siren instincts. But that's not the reason ponies in Equestria would shun us. They shunned us because they despised Sirens. It had always been like that, even before the girls and I had completely turned our backs on all things good.

I pulled out my phone and looked at the time; I hadn't realized how late it was getting. "Girls, we'd better get going if we're to make it home before dark," I said. Aria and Sonata yawned. "Yeah... Let's go," Aria said.

We walked out of the café. I simply couldn't wait until Friday, because that's when the real fun begins. I enjoyed singing and performing a lot outside of my plotting too, and it had always been my favorite hobby. I write a lot of music but we don't ever perform it because we're just too busy and for a long while our voices weren't even strong enough.

Once we completed our mission, then maybe we would get to performing these songs. I didn't necessarily have any plans yet. Well, other than world domination of course~.

Aria sped up a bit to match my pace.

"What do you want, Aria?" I said, a bit annoyed.

"I'm sorry about earlier. I know you're better than that. I shouldn't have accused you of liking the enemy," she said.

"Well, thank you," I said with a toss of my hair, intentionally hitting her in the face.

I heard Sonata giggle a little. She was clearly laughing at Aria.

"Hee hee! Dagi hit your face on purpose," she said.

She and I exchanged mischievous glances.

Sonata and I rarely made such a connection with each other. She was laid-back and silly while I was a more serious, no-nonsense personality.

"It's not funny," Aria said.

I giggled a little.

"You're right. It isn't funny; it's hilarious!" I said, beginning to laugh harder.

Aria rolled her eyes.

It was nice to have them as friends, despite them being annoying at times.

A Friendship Falling Apart

View Online

Sunset Shimmer walked into the practice room where the Rainbooms were rehearsing.

"Sunset, don't tell me you were with those girls again," Twilight Sparkle said.

"No worries, Twilight. I wasn't," Sunset Shimmer assured her.

Sunset had lied, but she couldn't help it; she liked the Dazzlings.

"Those girls are dangerous," Twilight said. "You need to stay away from them."

"Twilight, they're girls like us now. We need to give them a chance," Sunset said.

"No. We can't. If we don't stop them, who knows what they'll do," Twilight said.

"Ah have to agree with Twilight; we can't risk puttin' the whole school in danger just for three girls who wouldn't show us any mercy," Applejack said.

"You don't understand. You have no idea how they feel," Sunset protested. "They want others to like them for who they are. But no one does, so they have to use their singing manipulation to get people to like them. They may have darker intentions, but that can and will be fixed once they realize there are people who like them for who they are."

"We can't take that kind of risk. The Sirens just want people to do their bidding!" Twilight warned.

"That's because no one understands them! You don't understand because you don't know what it feels like to have no one who likes you! You're perfect but not everyone else is!" Sunset fired back. "I'm glad you're my friend, Twilight, don't get me wrong. But, think about the old me and then think about these girls! Don't you see the similarities?"

"Sunset, I–" Twilight couldn't finish her sentence before Sunset cut her off. "Now, if you'll excuse me; I need to go and find the only three people in this world who understand me."

Sunset began heading toward the exit when she stopped in her tracks.

"And, Twilight, they're not the Sirens, they're the Dazzlings. Adagio is a Unicorn from Equestria," she said.

"She's lying to you Sunset! Can't you see?!" Twilight exclaimed.

"I'm going to trust she's telling the truth. Isn't that what friends do? They trust each other even in moments of doubt?" Sunset said, almost to the point of tears.

Twilight was upset too. She was the Princess of Friendship and here she was, fighting with someone who didn't want to fight. She felt a twinge of embarrassment; Sunset Shimmer had made a good point.

"Sunset, I'm sorry," Twilight said. "Hang out with those girls if you want, but please tell me at least when you're going to be with them. I don't want them to hurt you. But, I'm still going to try to stop them."

"Thanks, Twilight. This means a lot to me, that you'll give me a chance to see who they really are for myself. I'm sorry ahead of time of something goes wrong," Sunset said with a weak smile.

She turned around and walked back toward Twilight. The two girls hugged.

"I'm sorry we almost fought just now," Sunset said.

"Me too," Twilight said.

"I'll stick around a little longer and help you guys out," Sunset said.

"Alright you guys, let's do 'Awesome as I Wanna Be'," Rainbow Dash said. "And let's try not to mess up this time."

Rainbow was met with moans and groans amongst bandmates. No one seemed very enthusiastic about having to rehearse the same song for the 500th time.

"Rainbow, we've been rehearsing all day," Twilight pointed out. "Maybe we should take a break?"

"And then we can use that time to try on some of the costumes I designed!" Rarity said.

"For the last time Rarity, we don't have the time for your silly costumes. We've got a whole school we've, gotta save," Applejack said.

"My costumes are not silly!" Rarity said.

"Girls," Twilight said.

The friends stopped at the sound of Twilight's voice.

"Hey, guys, we still need to rehearse 'Awesome as I Wanna be' if we're gonna be awesome as I wanna be," Rainbow Dash said.

There were more groans of disappointment as the six friends began rehearsing.

Each girl came in right on cue, with their "hey's". But something was still wrong. None of the girls seemed very happy to be rehearsing the song. They played great, but they weren't happy.

Rainbow Dash took the center of the imaginary stage.

She sang her song great. She played her guitar excellently. She was a great lead. But she was far too self-absorbed.

Everyone was mad at her for referring to the band as her's. It was pretty much the "Rainbow Dash show". As the girls practiced Sunset was deep in thought.

She knew she shouldn't be comparing the Rainbooms to the Dazzlings but she was anyway. She thought about Adagio; Adagio was a great leader, she was a bit self-absorbed, but even she recognized that the band wasn't her's, it belonged to her *and* her friends. The Dazzlings argue amongst each other sometimes but they never seemed to hold it against each other.

Sunset stared out the window.

She wanted so badly for her friends to stop this ridiculousness; these were her friends, but these weren't the friends she knew. The friends she knew were above this. There was one more thing she wanted.

She wanted to be a part of a band too. The Equestria Girls never bothered to ask her if she wanted to join the Rainbooms. She decided that she wouldn't ask them, she would ask the Dazzlings if she could join their group.

She knew the Dazzlings didn't have good intentions for now. But she knew even the Dazzlings could change their ways. She had been evil once for a very similar reason to the Dazzlings'. She needed to try and make them realize that there was another way, before it was too late.

The Rainbooms finished practicing their song.

"Hey, you guys, I'm going to leave for now," Sunset said.

"Sunset, before you go, what did you think of my song?" Rainbow Dash asked.

"It sure was… something," Sunset said, forcing a small smile.

"Awesome!" Rainbow said, oblivious to Sunset's concern.

"But it's still *your* band and *your* song?" Sunset asked, concerned.

"Yep. It's my band and my song," Rainbow replied.

Everyone except for Twilight and Sunset shot an unseen glare at Rainbow Dash.

Sunset gave a quick 'goodbye' and then left to go search for the Dazzlings. She'd texted Adagio but hadn't heard back from her yet.

Sunset pulled out her phone to text Aria.

"Hey, Aria. What's up? I tried texting Adagio, but I haven't heard back from her yet."

Sunset pressed 'send'. No reply. She thought she'd text Sonata next.

"Hi Sonata! What's up?"

Sunset typed and then pressed 'send'. No reply yet again. Sunset pondered what was going on.

"Maybe they're at Canterlot Café," Sunset said to no one in particular.

She walked out of Canterlot High. She felt lonely, being by herself.

She sighed.

The Dazzlings were lucky to have each other and the Equestria Girls were lucky to have each other. Sunset didn't really feel as if she belonged with the Equestria Girls though. That was part, but only a small part, of the reason she wanted to befriend the Dazzlings so badly. She understood the Dazzlings and she knew for sure that Adagio understood her.

Sunset walked down the silent, rainy street. Canterlot Café wasn't much farther.

She heard her phone make a 'ping' sound and took it out of her jacket pocket. She had received a text message from Adagio.

"Sunset, I just got your text. Meet us at Canterlot Café; we have something to tell you!" the message read.

"What could it be?" Sunset wondered aloud.

Could it be that they were inviting her to join their group? Were they going to not be evil anymore?

So many questions filled Sunset's mind.

Did they want her to join their band?

Sunset ran as fast as she could, but occasionally slowed down as if to 'play it cool'. Her heart was racing.

She reached the café and took a deep breath to calm herself.

"Here goes nothing," she said, opening the doors.

I watched Sunset Shimmer walk into the café. I had sent her a text asking her to come and meet us here. She was searching the rows booths looking for us.

I waved her over.

She waved back and walked over to join us.

"Hey, I got your text," she said. "What's up?"

"So, we've made our decision," I said. "You can join our group."

Sunset appeared stunned.

"R-really?!" she exclaimed.

"Yes," I said.

"Thank you!" she threw a hug around me.

I flinched. I thought nothing could faze me, but apparently there's something that could. Being hugged by her was a strange feeling and my mind seems to be having trouble comprehending it. I can't even think of the last time someone just hugged me out of the blue, let alone the last time I hugged someone.

"St-stop th-that!" I said, flustered.

I pushed her away from me.

"Sorry! I'm just so overjoyed!" she blubbered.

"It's okay," I said.

"So, now that you're one of us... what do you want to do?" I asked.

"What do you normally do?" Sunset asked.

"We usually hang out back at our place or hang out here," Aria said.

"Then do you wanna hang out here?" Sunset asked.

"Sure," I said. "I'll be right back; I need to go and order mine and the girls' milkshakes. Do you want anything, Sunset?"

"How about... just a cookie?” she said. "You got it," I said. I walked up to the counter.

"I'll take three milkshakes; the usual. And, I'll take a cookie as well," I said to the employee.

"Hey, Sunset, what kind of cookie do you want?" I turned toward Sunset Shimmer.

"How about chocolate chip?" Sunset said.

I turned back to the employee. "Three milkshakes; the usual, and a cookie; chocolate chip," I told her.

She nodded and walked off.

I leaned back on the counter.

The employee returned with the milkshakes and cookie. "That'll be four-fifteen,” she said.

I handed her a five dollar bill. "Keep the change," I said.

I took the stuff, then sat down with the girls and Sunset Shimmer.

I handed them all of their stuff and decided to sit next to Sunset Shimmer.

"So-o-o, Sunset, we haven't really talked about our interests much. How about we get to know each other some more?" I said.

"Alright. What do you want to know?" Sunset said.

"How about... favorite movie?" I said.

"Okay. Hmm... that's a tough one... " Sunset stared off into space. "I don't think I have one. How about you?"

"I don't know either," I laughed. "So next question, I suppose? Unless, do you girls have something?"

Aria and Sonata shook their heads no.

"How about we move onto personal interests? Sunset, do you have have any hobbies?" Aria said.

"I like to play guitar," Sunset said.

"Neat. Do you play well?" I said.

"Yeah. It's nothing to brag about, but I do play pretty well," Sunset said.

"Nice," I said.

"How about you? Do you have any interests outside of singing and performing?" Sunset asked.

"Hmmm... I like video games, both heavy reading and studying, mythology, and hanging out with friends," I said. "Girls? How about you?"

"Video games, karate, and hanging out with friends," Aria said.

"EATING TACOS, EATING TACOS, and did I mention EATING TACOS?! I also like video games, hanging out with friends, continuing my rivalry with Pinkie Pie, making tacos, eating at Mexican restaurants 'cause they have tacos, annnnnnd yeah," Sonata said.

"So moving on, favorite food?" I said. "And Sonata, you're not a part of this conversation because we already know your answer."

"My favorite food is, hands down, pizza," Sunset said.

"Same here. It's nearly impossible to go wrong with pizza," I said.

"Agreed," Aria said.

"Meh, I still like tacos better," Sonata said.

I rolled my eyes. "Anyways," I said.

"Hey, thanks again for letting me join your group. You have no idea how much this means to me," Sunset said.

"You're so welcome!" I said, voice dripping with false sweetness.

Not, I silently added. You fell right into my trap, Sunset Shimmer, and you don't even know it.

"I'm glad you're a part of the group! 'Cause, now we can all be BFFs!" Sonata exclaimed.

Sunset giggled a little bit.

"You're so cute, Sonata," Sunset said.

"Thanks! I can't help it. For realsies," Sonata said.

Aria rolled her eyes.

"So, Sunset," I said. "Do you like watching videos on the internet at all?"

"Yeah, but not much," Sunset said.

"Do you make any?" I pried, leaning in closer.

I knew it was Sunset Shimmer who had made the video I had watched that was an attempt to humiliate whoever Twilight Sparkle is. I had recognized her voice from the video.

"Um, I haven't made any in a long time," Sunset said, seeming a little uncomfortable as if she was hiding something.

I decided to take it down a notch.

"Oh, I see," I said nonchalantly.

"You two are so lucky you're partners; I got stuck with the worst possible partner," Aria said.

"Who?" I said, though I knew the answer already.

"Ugh, Sonata," Aria answered.

"Hey! I'm not the worst — you are!" Sonata exclaimed.

I looked at Sunset Shimmer who looked concerned.

"Sorry. They've got this thing, and I don't even know how it got started, where they think each other is the worst and it's just a part of their weird friendship," I explained.

"That is a weird friendship," Sunset laughed.

Aria shrugged.

"I don't even know what it is between us two, if it's a friendship or what," she said.

Sunset giggled.

"But you know what; I like that about you girls. It's just one of many interesting but likable things about you," she said.

Why does Sunset Shimmer like us so much? Is there something about her I'm not aware of? It's a mystery. I was just going to have to ask her.

"Hey, Sunset, why do you like us so much?" I asked, puzzled.

"Why? It's because you're a good group of friends. While you all may annoy each other sometimes, you're not trying to get each other to change. You accept each other for who you are. You all work so well together when you play, or, well, sing," Sunset said. "And so I admire your friendship."

"You make some interesting points. I never thought about those before," I said.

Sunset sighed. "I wish my other friends could be like that; well, they used to be like that, but, ever since they started their band… I don't know… it seems like they're taking it too seriously and letting it interfere with their friendships," she said.

"That's just sad," Aria remarked.

Of course, she wasn't being sympathetic, she was just commenting.

"And absolutely pathetic," I added.

"I know," Sunset said, "I wish there was something I could do, but, I don't think it's my place since I don't know much about friendship."

But she was wrong. She knows plenty about friendship, it sounded like. She just didn't realize it. But of course, I wouldn't be telling her any of that.

"For realsies?" Sonata said.

I motioned for Aria to do something because I had a feeling Sonata was about to tell Sunset that Sunset did know plenty about friendship.

"Because it seems—"

Aria cut Sonata off mid-sentence by dumping Sonata's milkshake on Sonata's head. To cover it up Aria said she was starting a food fight.

Sunset laughed.

Sonata's face turned a bright red.

"Ugh! Aria, I wasn't done with that milkshake yet!" she fumed, dumping Aria's milkshake onto Aria's head.

"Hey!" Aria exclaimed.

It was too bad we couldn't gain power off of our own negative energy, otherwise things would be so much easier with Aria and Sonata around.

Sunset seemed to be getting a bit uneasy because of all the tension.

"Alright girls, that's–"

Sonata hurled whipped cream at my face, cutting me off mid-sentence. She began giggling as the whipped cream hit my face and got all in my hair. Aria was laughing too, as was Sunset Shimmer.

Well, I did like whipped cream, but Sonata touched it (and who knows where she's been) so I wasn't going to lick it off my face.

Sunset extended a hand out to me holding a napkin.

"Um, you have a little something... everywhere," she said with a giggle.

I took the napkin from her and cleaned up my face and hair.

I pulled my phone out of my bag and turned it on to check the time.

"Girls, sorry to cut this short, but Sunset and I will need to leave if we're to work on our project," I said.

"Oh, is it getting that late already?" Sunset asked. "Then we'd better get going."

I grabbed Sunset Shimmer and pulled her away. I don't even know why I did that.

Working on the Project (Again)

View Online

It was about 5:30 p.m. and Sunset and I were on our way to the spot we like to go to when we work on our project.

"Whoa! Adagio, slow down! We still need to get the supplies from my place," Sunset said.

"Oh," I said, releasing my grip on Sunset Shimmer.

"Then let's go to your place," I said.

"Alright, let's go," Sunset said.

We walked to Sunset's place and it was a somewhat enjoyable walk. She seemed to be in an incredibly happy mood; just about skipping along.

"Well, aren't you happy?" I remarked.

"Yeah. This is the first time I've ever had a friend who totally understands me!" Sunset said happily. "In fact, I've even compiled a list of things you, me, Aria, and Sonata can do when we go back to Equestria together."

"Go back to Equestria?" I said with a mixture of surprise and curiosity.

"Yeah. I was going to keep it a surprise but then I couldn't resist telling you," Sunset said. "But don't tell Aria or Sonata; I want to surprise them."

I was beginning to see an easier opportunity to go back to Equestria. Unfortunately, there was just one issue: I wanted to take over Equestria which would require more power than I have at the moment. So it seemed I'd have to sacrifice this easy opportunity. However, I wanted to participate in Battle of the Bands, regardless.

I couldn't care less about friendship, but the odd thing is: the more I hang out with Sunset Shimmer, the more I begin to feel like I shouldn't be doing what I'm doing. The more I think about it, the more infuriated I feel.

No, I thought. I've come too far to stop now. I will not let Sunset Shimmer stand in my way. I won't let anyone stand in my way.

"So, I came up with a great idea for our project," Sunset said.

"What is it?" I asked.

"I thought we could have facts about the Sirens of this world and then Equestrian Sirens," Sunset said.

"Nice concept," I said. "Are you sure anyone would believe it? I mean it's not like anyone knows about Equestria."

"Hmm... that's a good point. It's not like we could tell them, they don't trust me and I don't know how they feel about you," Sunset said. "I mean, only because you and I have hung out so much."

"Well, forget them! I don't care what they think about me," I said, slightly upset.

"You won't care until you find out what it feels like to have everyone shun you," Sunset said, sounding defeated.

But I do know what that feels like, I thought.

"Perhaps we should move onto a happier topic?" I suggested.

Sunset Shimmer's a very sensitive person, I've noticed. I didn't want her to start crying and then I feel that strange feeling of sympathy again.

"Yeah. So anyways. There was a test I was really nervous about in a class I had and when I took it I was so scared that I would fail it, but then the next day I'd received a one hundred percent on it," Sunset said. "I was so relieved."

We stopped when we reached the building both Sunset and I live in.

"Hey, we're here," Sunset said.

We walked inside.

"Good afternoon, Adagio and Sunset. How're you all?" the receptionist greeted.

"Great, thank you," I said.

"Same here. How about you?" Sunset said politely.

"Lovely, thank you," the receptionist replied.

"You're welcome!" Sunset said.

We walked into the elevator and I let out sigh of relief that Sonata wasn't here.

"So..." I said, attempting to start a conversation.

"So... I have no idea what to say," Sunset laughed.

The elevator stopped off at Sunset's floor.

"My place is just across the hall here," Sunset said.

We walked up to the door and Sunset Shimmer pulled a key out from the pocket of her leather jacket, then proceeded to unlock the door.

"And here we are. Come on in," she said.

I followed her inside.

The room had a very modern rocker sort of look. I noted the style.

"Make yourself at home," Sunset said. "I'll go and get the supplies."

She walked off to the left while I remained here.

A couple minutes later she returned with the project and the supplies.

"Heya," Sunset said. "Since it's a getting a little late, do you want to just work on the project here?"

"Sure," I said nonchalantly.

We got down on the floor.

"So, what do you think we should do about writing down facts about Equestrian Sirens?" Sunset asked.

"I doubt anyone would believe any of it. So we probably shouldn't," I said.

Though, that wasn't the real reason; I didn't want people to believe it and then possibly figure out what the girls and I were planning; better safe than sorry.

"Alright then, we won't write those facts down," Sunset said.

It's a good thing she's so gullible, otherwise I could end up in a sticky situation.

I began working on coloring my drawing of my Siren form using paints.

"That looks amazing! Are you sure you're not an artist as well as a musician?" Sunset exclaimed.

"I'm sure," I laughed.

"If you say so," Sunset said.

She began writing down a few things and so did I. The project was coming along nicely, not that I really cared.

"Hey, are you excited for tomorrow?" Sunset said.

"What's tomorrow?" I said.

I'd completely lost track of the days.

"The after school party for the participants of the musical showcase," SunsEG said.

"Oh, yes. Very excited," I said.

Because that's when the time will come for the Dazzlings carry out their plan, I thought.

"I'm a little less than excited. I'm excited to see my friends perform, but, I'm just a little afraid this competition will get the best of them," Sunset confessed.

"Well, if your friends are any good friends then they shouldn't let a competition get the best of them," I said.

"Yeah, I guess I'm worrying for nothing. I mean they are good friends," Sunset said.

She sighed and I said nothing else.

"Hey, wanna hear some music? I have a song that my friends wrote that's really good," Sunset said.

"Sure," I said, nonchalantly.

It was probably some stupid song about uniting everyone.

She pulled out her phone and began playing the song. I was right; it was a stupid song about uniting everyone. The first few verses went a little something like this:

Hey! Hey! Everybody!~

We've got something to say!~

We may seem as different as the night is from day~

But just look a little deeper~

~and you will see that I'm just like you and you're just like me. Yeah!~

I did my best to tune out that annoying song. It almost kind of reminded of what 'Let's Have a Battle (of the Bands)' would probably go if it weren't about dividing everyone.

Despite trying my best to ignore the song, I couldn't help but to sway my head along to the rhythm. I suppose music has become such a large part of me over time to the point where I just immediately want to move to the rhythm of the music I hear.

"Good song, isn't it?" Sunset asked. "Mhm. It is a good song," I lied. "It's a favorite of mine. It's just so sweet! Trying to unite the whole school after being divided for who knows how long," Sunset said.

I gazed at her steadily.

"Are you implying that I was trying to divide the school?!" I snapped, getting up and placing my hands on my hips.

"N-no! That's not– I wasn't trying to imply anything!" Sunset said, tearing up.

"Really?! Because that's what it seemed like!" I snapped.

"Don't friends trust that each other is telling truth?" Sunset said.

"Well, I guess we're not friends then!" I said with a sharp turn.

"B-but Adagio," Sunset sobbed.

I began walking toward the door, but then stopped in my tracks and looked at Sunset Shimmer.

"Oh, and Sunset Shimmer, in case you're wondering, yes, I am one of 'the Sirens' as you call us," I sneered. "And you aren't one of us anymore."

I walked out the door coolly. I even didn't care that I just revealed to Sunset Shimmer that I'm a Siren; I didn't care about hiding that fact anymore. I had a new idea.

Getting Through the Day

View Online

It was six o'clock in the morning. I couldn't sleep at all last night I was so excited. I had to get through the school day first in order to get to the part I was waiting for.

I wasn't quite sure what I wanted to do about Sunset Shimmer.

I was thinking about possibly making amends with Sunset, but there was no way I could take back saying I was a Siren though. Again, I don't care that I admitted that. I had a new idea.

I was still in my pajamas since we didn't have to leave to head to school for a good two more hours or so. After school was the, whatever they're calling it, the party for the battle of the bands. I took off my pajamas and put on my clothes I usually wear.

It was then I remembered that I needed to fix my bed head. Amazing hair comes with insane bed head.

I got out my hair brush and brushed my hair.

Oh, and I didn't even need to tease it to get the gorgeous, full look it has. It's all natural.

After finishing my hair, I moved oto my make up. A very simple process really. All I had to do was apply my eyeshadow. The eyeshadow was a pretty yellow; it was a rather flat yellow but the color complimented me well.

Now that I was ready, I needed to wake up the girls.

I walked into to Aria's room.

"Hey, sleepyhead, wake up! It's morning!" I said, ripping the covers off of Aria's bed.

She let out a small moan. "Mm... No ma, just... five more.... minutes..." she said, half-asleep.

She woke up and got out of bed.

"Oh, g'morning, Adagio," she yawned.

"Morning," I said.

"You're up bright and early," Aria said.

"I've just been too excited," I said.

"Yeah. So long as we get that Equestrian magic we'll get to go back to Equestria really soon," Aria said.

"Exactly," I said.

"Can you wake up The Worst instead of me? I'd do it but I don't wanna deal with her yet," Aria said.

"I was planning on doing that," I said.

I walked out of Aria's room and across the hall to Sonata's room. "No... But here in Sonata-land the tacos are endless. I will stop you Kung-fu Pizza Man," she said in her sleep. "You'll never take my tacos!"

I poked Sonata in order to wake her up and she jumped out of bed.

"Take that you Kung-fu Pizza Man!" she exclaimed, trying to karate chop me.

"Oh, it's just you, Dagi. I thought you were the Kung-fu Pizza Man trying to steal my tacos," she said, sitting back on the bed.

I rolled my eyes. "Just go get ready, would you?" I said.

She got out of bed wearing bold pink pajamas with tacos printed all over them.

She's weird sometimes but she's much more approachable and down to Earth than that Pinkie Pie I've heard about.

It took the girls a little bit longer than me to get ready. They still had to put their hair up in pigtails (Aria) and a ponytail (Sonata). They met me in the living room, finally ready, and we left.

Once we were at school, we split off to our separate classes. Right on schedule Sunset ran up to me wanting to know if we could walk to class together.

"Hey, I'm sorry about yesterday," she said after I agreed to walk with her. "I didn't mean to imply anything. I was just thinking out loud."

"Oh, it's fine. I shouldn't have lashed out like that," I said.

"So, are we– are we still friends?" Sunset asked.

"Yes. No hard feelings," I said.

Sunset had an overjoyed look on her face. "Thank goodness," she said. "I thought I'd lost a friend."

You wouldn't have either way because we never were friends, I thought.

"So, yesterday you said you were a Siren, but the other day you said you were a Unicorn; so which one are you?" Sunset said.

It seemed I'd have to tell the truth. Fortunately for me, Sunset didn't seem to be a very judgmental person, unlike the ponies of Equestria. Certainly she wouldn't turn on me because I was part-Siren, one of the most hated species in all of Equestria… right?

I took a deep breath and then exhaled to calm my nerves.

"Both," I answered. "I'm half-pony and half-Siren." "That's amazing! I had no idea that was possible," Sunset said.

I was shocked that she didn't immediately turn on me.

"It's very rare occurrence since under normal circumstances ponies and Sirens are usually enemies," I explained.

"That does make sense," Sunset said. "I'd heard something a long time ago about three ponies who were half Siren. Those three ponies, would they be you, Aria, and Sonata?"

"Yes," I said.

"That's really cool!" Sunset said. "What's it like being a Siren?"

"Just imagine being a pony but living underwater," I said, slightly humorous.

"That'd be so cool! It sounds like you get the best of both land and sea," Sunset said.

I never did think about it that way, but she was right. I suppose I just took that ability for granted, and I didn't realize how lucky I was to possess that ability. Most ponies could only wish to be able to live under the sea.

"So, anyways," I said.

"I guess our first class is mythology, it being a half day and all because of the kickoff party," Sunset said.

"I wonder what mythology is going to be about. So far it's only been 'report the progress on your project then do whatever'. Not that I mind," I said.

"Yeah. It's actually kind of nice getting to take at least one class easy this week because of the musical showcase," Sunset said.

We walked into Cheerilee's mythology class.

"Good morning, you two! You got here early," she said. "I've been meaning to tell you excellent job on your project so far! I love your little drawings. What interesting interpretations of Sirens."

"Thanks!" Sunset and I said at the same time.

We took a seat next to each other.

Suddenly, an obnoxious blue and white haired girl burst into the room.

"The Great and Powerful Trixie has arrived!" she announced.

I rolled my eyes.

Sunset had an annoyed look on her face as well.

"Trixie has a very important announcement to make," Trixie said.

Even Cheerilee rolled her eyes at that one.

"Trixie is going to win Battle of The Bands!" Trixie said.

"But, of course, it's not like there's any competition anyways," she remarked.

I glanced over at Sunset who heaved an annoyed sigh.

"Hey, Adagio," she began in a whisper. "You know I'm not very aggressive or competitive, but can you do me a favor?"

What was she getting at?

"What is it?" I said, curiosity piqued.

"During the showcase, since it's a competition, will you please take that opportunity to put Trixie in her place for me?" Sunset said. "She thinks she's so much better than everyone else and it gets on my nerves."

I couldn't believe what I was hearing. But there was no need to ask because I would have done so anyways.

"You can count on me," I said with a nod.

"Thanks. She needs someone to put her in her place and who better to do it than the Dazzlings?" Sunset said.

"Thanks. But what about… your friends?" I said, purposely asking such a question just to make Sunset uncomfortable.

"They'll probably be too busy fussing over frivolous matters and trying to win," she sighed. "But you all are more motivated and driven; you don't seem to lose sight of what matters to you."

"Well, thank you. You can count on the Dazzlings to show Trixie up," I said.

It was true; if anyone dared to go up against us they would look pathetic compared to us. We were just that amazing, and we had years of practice.

"You're welcome," Sunset said. "But just to warn you: Trixie is pretty good. I don't doubt that you can defeat her, though."

"No worries. We'll make sure she doesn't win," I said.

As the rest of the class was heading in, I noticed a lavender skinned girl who had indigo hair with purple and pink streaks running down the center who I'd never seen before. She walked into the classroom after all the rest, looking less than confident and took a seat at the back of the classroom.

"Excuse me for a second," Sunset said.

"Uh huh," I said flatly.

She got up and walked to the back of the room. Probably going to talk to that one girl. I started playing around with my pencil. Sunset was taking a while so in my boredom I began drumming on the desk with my pencil.

Cheerilee clapped her hands to get the class' attention.

"Everyone please take a seat," she said.

That wasn't directed at Sunset Shimmer singularly; just about the entire class was standing up. Sunset walked back to her seat with a defeated look.

"Something wrong?" I asked.

"Nothing. I'm fine," Sunset said with a sigh.

"If you say so," I said.

So, Cheerilee blabbered on and on about how she expects everyone to continue to do their best on their projects despite Battle of the Bands starting tomorrow. But things got interesting when Trixie interrupted and claimed her band was the best band at Canterlot High. The entire class broke out into a fight, all claiming that they were the best band.

Of course, I gained power in the process but then had to come up with a cover up as to why the negative energy entered into my pendant.

Sunset kept looking at me with concern.

I could not wait for the day to be over for one more reason now. If Sunset even tries to stand in my way, she'll be shown no mercy.

The Kickoff to the Battle

View Online

Finally, it was the end of the school day.

The girls and I headed toward the gym where the party for the battle of the bands was being held. For some reason, Sunset didn't seem to want to tag along with us, which I don't mind at all. She probably went to hang out with her so called "friends" and help them out.

We walked in and everyone else seemed to already be there.

We walked over closer to the bleachers, but only stayed there for a few seconds before Sonata dragged us off to the table where the fruit punch was.

"C'mon you have to try it!" she said.

"Sonata, I don't want to try your fruit punch," I said.

"I'll try it," Aria volunteered.

"You just want try it so you can insult Sonata," I said, rolling my eyes.

"No. That's not why I wanna try it," Aria said. "I wanna see if Sonata can get something right. For once."

"Wow. Aria's being nicer to me than Dagi?" Sonata felt around on my face. "Is this real life? Are you the real Dagi?" she said. "Yes, I'm the real Adagio," I said shoving Sonata aside.

I surveyed the room.

Everyone was being very standoffish with anyone outside their own band and were all arguing. I couldn't help but to make a mocking comment.

"Oh no! No one is mingling!" I exclaimed with mock surprise. "It's like there's some underlying tension that could bubble to the surface at any minute!"

Cue another stupid Sonata guess.

"It's the fruit punch isn't it?" she said. "I knew I used too much grape juice!"

Really Sonata?

"It's not the fruit punch! It's us!" I snapped.

Of course, we couldn't have a stupid Sonata moment without Aria joining in a conversation that does not involve her.

"But the punch is awful, too," Aria said.

"What do you know about good fruit punch?" Sonata said.

"More than you!" Aria said.

"Do not!" Sonata said, smacking Aria's cheek.

"Do too!" Aria said, ruffling Sonata's bangs.

Sonata smoothed her bangs back into place.

Just ignore them and change the subject; they'll shut up then, I thought.

"This is just the kickoff party, girls. Just imagine what a tizzy they'll be in by time the Battle of The Bands starts," I said.

"There isn't going to be a battle of the bands! We're gonna make sure of that!" I heard a voice announce.

I flinched.

I turned to see the indigo haired girl from earlier alongside Sunset Shimmer and five other girls. Sunset shot us a triumphant looking glance. What had her so confident all of a sudden?

"Alright, girls, let's do this! Friendship is magic!" The indigo haired girl exclaimed as she and the five other girls joined hands.

What was the deal with these girls? Why would that lavender girl just shout "Friendship is magic"? They were acting as if something supposed to happen.

I exchanged confused glances with Aria and Sonata, who seemed to be just as confused as I was.

We were all rather… confused. That is, until I came to realization..

Wait a minute! That's it! I thought. *They* must be the source of the Equestrian magic!

The six girls began whispering to each other.

I knew exactly how to turn this into an opportunity to gain power.

"Talk about throwing down the gauntlet!" I exclaimed for everyone to hear.

"This group is obviously serious about winning! A little bit cocky though, aren't they? Claiming there won't really be a battle." I walked around everyone, saying my statement loud for all to hear, just to grab everyone's attention. "Seems they think they've already got this thing all. locked. up."

"Not if the Great and Powerful T-rrr-ixie has anything to do with it!" Trixie exclaimed.

"Whatever, Trixie! We're the best band at CHS!" a blue haired boy exclaimed.

"No!" a young red haired girl fired back. "The Crusaders are gonna win!"

I glanced back at Sunset Shimmer and the six other girls who all looked worried.

Everyone began bickering once more and a trail of negative energy snaked its way to mine and the girls' pendants. I grinned with satisfaction and clutched my pendant.

It was only a matter of time before mine and the girls' power would be completely restored. "

I think we may have found what we're looking for," I said, now that my suspicion had been confirmed. "Or rather, it found us."

I glanced at Aria and Sonata.

Sonata looked utterly clueless as usual.

"Magic!" I snarled with a gesture to the six other girls.

"Don't you see?! Everyone else has fallen under our spell, but not these girls. These girls are special." The six girls, and Sunset Shimmer, were running out of the gym in a hurry. Let them run; we'll get them soon.

I smiled wickedly and narrowed my eyes.

"Let's go," I said to Aria and Sonata.

We walked out of the gym.

"So they're the source of the Equestrian magic?" Aria said.

"That's right," I said.

"But they're just ordinary humans I thought," Sonata protested.

"No. They're not," I said.

Now I was going to have to explain everything to Sonata, which is a complete pain in the neck.

"If they were ordinary humans they would have fallen under our spell. But the way they approached us told me that they hadn't. I don't know how it was possible, considering back in Equestria we could put most anyone under a spell," I explained. "They must be protected somehow."

We headed on our way home.

I was going to have a nice, long chat with Sunset Shimmer. I was either going to call her, ask her if I could come over, or ask her to come over. Coincidentally, my phone began ringing.

It was Sunset; how convenient.

I answered the phone. "Hello?" I said.

"Adagio, I have something urgent I need to talk to you alone about! Can you come over?" Sunset said in a panicked voice.

"Okay," I said.

What could possibly be so important that she needs me to come over right away? I thought.

"Thanks," Sunset said.

"You're welcome. I'll be right there," I said, hanging up the phone.

"Girls, when we get to our building I'm going to have to split. There's an important matter I have to take care of," I said.

"Okay. What do you need to do?" Aria said.

"You don't need to know," I said.

"But can I know?" Sonata asked.

"No! Neither of you need to know!" I said.

Couldn't they just mind their own business? Just because we're friends, doesn't mean I'm too keen on sharing every little thing I do with them. Especially since they think I like Sunset Shimmer.

"Fine," Aria said. "But, I'm gonna guess that it's got something to do with Sunset Shimmer. I think there's something between you two that I'm not sure you even know about."

"What do you care?! And what makes you think there's something between me and Sunset Shimmer?!" I snarled.

"Because you always get flustered when I bring her up," Aria replied.

"Ugh!" I exclaimed.

Who did Aria think she was, making assumptions like that?! I couldn't believe her.

I made sure to stay an extra few steps ahead of the girls; I was not in the mood to talk to them.

What does Sunset Shimmer want to talk to me about? I wondered. Since she saw the events of today, I would've doubted she'd want to talk to me now that my true intentions have been revealed.

As soon as we reached our building, I rushed off to Sunset's place.

I was in such a rush, I'd forgotten to use the elevator and had taken the stairs.

I panted, out of breath after running up seven flights of stairs.

I knocked on Sunset's door. "Sunset, I'm here!" I said with whatever air I had left in me.

She opened the door and I walked in.

"So, what did you want to talk to me about?" I asked.

"First of all, I just wanted to say: I don't care if you're evil, I still want to be friends with you, Aria, and Sonata," Sunset said. "I know what it feels like to be alone."

"Really?" I said skeptically.

I simply couldn't believe she'd still want to be friends with us. Why would she want to? I'd been awful to her these last couple of days and now she knows for certain that Aria, Sonata, and I are evil.

"Yeah," Sunset said.

"Okay then," I said.

I wasn't very interested in having her as a friend, but I'd accept her because things were getting interesting between us. Maybe Aria was right; perhaps there was something between me and Sunset that even I didn't know about.

"I know you'll say 'no', but, can you not continue with this plan and maybe instead go some other route? If you say 'yes', will you please undo the spell you put on the school?" Sunset asked.

Oh brother. She was beginning to sound like Starswirl with her "please don't continue with your plan" nonsense. I've made it this far, and I'm not about to stop now. She needs to realize she'd be better off leaving us alone to do whatever we want.

"No. There is no other way to do this. If I'm ever going to be adored by others and go back to Equestria, I have to do it this way," I said firmly. "And Sunset, even if I did say 'yes', I wouldn't be able to undo the spell. The girls and I would have to be defeated first."

"I have something I need to admit to you," Sunset said.

"What is it?" I said.

Sunset took a deep breath and then exhaled.

This ought to be interesting, I thought.
