Twilight and Flash find out that Flash is one of the 6 guardians of Harmony. Flash discovers he has powers never seen by pony eyes before, when Twilight ends up in danger he must unlock these abilities to save her. Will he succeed, or will he fail?
I know this is not the most liked MLP couple, it’s the most popular and most hated couple after all. Don't ask how that makes sense. Any way I've written Flashlight stories before and none of them looked very good. I have to thank Calm Wind, TorontoFCBrony, and DerpyForever, and many others for giving me the inspiration for this story. Calm Wind gets praise for helping me finally find how to start. TorontoFCBrony gets praise giving me the idea to base the story off of a song. DerpyForever gets praise for making the story in canon with the show. Twilight was, as usual, sitting in her ponyville home reading a book. Spike was cleaning when he belched out a plume of fire and a letter appeared. Twilight grabbed the letter and opened it. She proceeded to read it.
Dear Twilight Sparkle, it has come to my attention that I have not assigned you your own royal guard. As a princess, it is important you have protection, so Princess Cadence suggested Flash Sentry and I agreed. He should be arriving soon after you get this letter. I hope things are going well.

She read the letter again to make sure she read it right. She couldn't believe it. It was great to have some more company, but this was better. Twilight had a crush on Flash Sentry, well she had formed a crush on his human counterpart when she was in the other world. She bumped into the pony version of him both before and after she went to the other world. She liked him, but he's probably much different from his human version because they've lived two different lives. He probably doesn't even like her the same way she likes him. A knock at the door brought her back to reality as she stood up.
"Coming!" she called as she walked to the door.

The train slowed to a stop as Flash waited to get off. He was very excited. He got to be the personal guard for a princess, but not just any princess, the most beautiful mare in all of Equestria, Princess Twilight Sparkle. He sighed happily as her name passed through his mind. He remembered the first day he saw her picture, the second he saw her he knew she was the one. When he finally met her he was on duty, so he had to keep his composure. The only problem was that she's a princess, he was lucky if she even remembered his name. Also, she might have eyes for somepony else already.
"Hmm," he hummed to himself as he stepped off the train. He walked to the exit and looked around. He thought it was kinda weird that a princess lived in a tree house library, but from what he heard she is very intelligent, which he thought was really great. His last fillyfriend was very smart, but she was always overconfident. Flash suddenly felt a pain in his heart as he thought about how she broke it. That was probably the worst day of his life. He shook his head and refocused. He walked up to the front door of the library and knocked on the door.
"Coming!" came a voice familiar voice. That voice was so beautiful he felt all his bad memories leave his mind.

Twilight opened the door, she suddenly felt her heart beat faster. Right in front of her was a tall orange pegasus stallion with a two toned blue mane. His cutie-mark was a two toned blue shield behind a yellow lightning bolt. He was wearing golden armor with his helmet under his right wing. On his chest plate there was a lavender six pointed star emblem that resembled Twilight's cutie-mark. Twilight gulped, not sure what to say.
"It's a pleasure to meet you again Princess Twilight sparkle," The stallion bowed to her. Twilight took a deep breath and spoke.
"I-I'm glad to meet you again too Flash sentry," Twilight smiled weakly. She felt so nervous, that her face heated up.
"Y-You remembered me?" Flash was very surprised. He couldn't believe a mare of such importance remembered someone as unimportant as him
"Of course I remember you," She replied with a smile. He returned her smile eagerly."Well I guess I should show you in?" Flash nodded and walked in closing the door behind him. Flash looked around in awe at all the books on the wall. Twilight chuckled at the look on his face as he looked around.
"You really like books," Flash said still looking round. "I heard you were really smart."
"Thanks, but I'm not all that great," Twilight responded sheepishly. Flash cocked an eyebrow. She seems modest.
"Really? From what I've heard your intelligence is what helped you become a princess. If you ask me that's quite a feat," Twilight felt strange. He was so nice.
"Th-that's very nice of you, thanks"
"Your welcome Princess, but it's true I've heard so much about you princess and you’re amazing. You’re obviously very important to many ponies." Twilight is always being showered with praise, but coming from the pony she liked it felt amazing. Twilight blushed and ran a hoof through her mane. He seemed perfect, if this wasn't a sign that he was the one then she didn’t know what was. A few minutes later Twilight proceeded to show Flash around. They walked over to Spike.
"Spike, You remember Flash?" Twilight said."He's going to be my personal royal guard."
"Hey nice to meet you Spike," Flash held out his hoof. Spike reached up and shook Flash's hoof. Spike looked at Twilight with a smirk on his face. She just glared at him. Flash watched the exchange and cocked an eyebrow, a bit confused. She continued to show him around till they got to the spare room.
"And this is where you'll stay," Twilight showed Flash into the room."Sorry it's not much."
"What are you talking about, there's more room in here than my quarters back in Canterlot," he smiled at her. He walked over to the spare bed and pulled his helmet out from under his right wing, inside the helmet pulled a bag out. He set his helmet on the side table next to the bed. Flash reached into the bag and proceeded to pull things out. He pulled out a small pillow, a blanket, a book, tape recorder with head phones, and a few tapes. The last thing he pulled out was a super dense dumbbell labeled 100 Lb. Twilight looked at the weight then at Flash. She suddenly noticed his muscles. They were hard to see under his armor but they were there. Twilight blushed and looked away when she realized she was starring.
"Now what?" She asked after he finished unpacking.
"You just go about your day as I just stand guard and protect you," he responded.
"Oh, OK. Then I'm going back to my reading." Twilight then left the room and closed the door. A minute later Flash put on his helmet, grabbed his tape recorder slipped in his ear buds and walked out.

Flash walked into the main library where Twilight was running back and forth between books and lab equipment. She was writing things down and looking at a multitude of charts and graphs. Flash chuckled as he watched the mare work. She was in the zone. He walked over near the front door and took his guarding position. He turned on his music and closed his eyes. He just listened to his music. For some reason the image of Twilight popped into his mind. He didn't mind it though the thought of Twilight smiling made him feel good so he didn't ignore it.

"Let's see if I turn this up by 5.96 degrees F for 1.72 seconds then..." Twilight suddenly turned her attention from her work to Flash. He was smiling and humming. But that wasn't what caught her attention, what caught her attention was the fact that He was literally glowing. She stood up and stepped closer. As she got closer Flash started to glow brighter, she reached over to a device on the table next to her. She pointed the device at Flash as it scanned him, the screen on the device lit-up as it gave energy readings. Twilight cocked an eyebrow and thought,'What is this?'
"F-Flash?" Twilight approached Flash her personal guard who was glowing, literally glowing!
"Hmm, Yes princess?" Flash pulled the ear buds out of his ears. As soon as he did, he stopped glowing. Twilight blinked a few times then lifted an eyebrow.
"U-Um, i-it's just...Um..." Twilight was trying to wrap her head around what she just saw."Y-you were l-literally glowing." Flash's eyes grew a little wide for a sec.
"Y-you saw that. Dammit! I thought I had that under control."
"Had what under control?"
"Well, for some reason whenever I listen to music by Pony City, I randomly glow it's strange, so I usually keep it a secret."
"You like that band too, interesting..." Twilight rubbed her chin. " Oh! sorry I was thinking. I was measuring your energy levels and I noticed something interesting."
"What?" Flash cocked an eyebrow.
"Well the same thing happens to me when I listen to Pony City, and your energy readings were similar to mine."
"Wow this is getting kind of spooky."
"Tell me about it. Here place the recorder on the table and play it, while' it's playing I'll measure both are energy readings." Twilight explained. Flash did as he was told and unplugged the ear buds. Twilight and Flash sat side by side. Twilight turned on the energy reading device and Flash played "Gold" on the recorder. The both of them closed their eyes as they listened. Simultaneously they started to glow. They both thought about the same thing: Twilight thought about Flash and her hugging. Flash thought the same thing. As the a song played the energy reading device printed out data on a long piece of paper. When the song concluded Twilight and Flash turned to each other. Twilight blushed at her previous thoughts. The both of them were still glowing though.
"Um, Twilight..." Flash started. Twilight was surprised this was the first time he called her by her real name. "I-I know this may sound weird but um... I want you to know I-I-I like you..." Flash winced at his words. Twilight started to blush as her eyes grew wider. 'H-He likes me' Twilight thought.
"Y-you l-like me?"
"Sorry for making you feel awkward. I-it's just that when I first saw your picture I wanted to meet you. Shortly after I went through a heartbreaking loss, I almost gave up on my life. The only thing that kept me going was the thought that I could meet you some day. When I finally met you, I wanted to tell you how I felt." Flash sighed and looked at the floor. The glow around him started to fade. Twilight was shocked. She knew she impacted a lot of ponies lives, but not to the point to where they lived on just to someday meet her. Twilight felt touched.
"F-Flash that's..." Twilight bit her lip."Th-that's so sweet." Flash perked up and met Twilight's gaze."I-I also wanted to tell you the same. But what made you want to meet me so badly?"
"Well, when I think about you I think how rare a mare like you is. Your like a shooting star, you shine so brightly and are so rare. Whenever I felt like giving up the thought of you made me think 'Not this time' no matter what came my way thought of meeting you kept me going." Flash sighed. Twilight never felt so warm inside to have some pony so determined to meet her it was "magical" absolutely "magical".
"F-Flash I-I don't know what to say. To be honest before I first met you I felt like there was this hole in my heart." Twilight leaned in closer. Flash did the same."Honestly even with such great friends I still felt something missing in my life. After I met you, something told me you were that missing piece."
"Twilight you are the most amazing mare I ever met." The two of them leaned in closer as they locked lips. Suddenly, they both started to shine as they kissed. Neither of them wanted it to end. Twilight felt the void in her heart disappear as thoughts of Flash flooded in.
"Wow," Flash breathed as they broke away. Twilight smiled at him with contentment and stars in her eyes."You smell nice too" Flash added. Twilight burst out laughing at his comment.
"Thanks" Twilight giggled. The two of them just looked into each others eyes, not trying to spoil the moment. Suddenly Flash's ear twitched.
"You hear that?" He suddenly spoke. Twilight listened for something.
"Yeah I do it sounds like..." Twilight's pupils shrank as her eyes grew large, her ears flopped down and her face turned red. Flash cocked an eyebrow then followed her gaze leading to the direction of the noise. The sound was coming from the front door. Flash walked over to the door and opened it. Five mares fell through the front door.
"Oh, I knew it was Flash Sentry," Said a white unicorn with a curly purple mane.
"Um... hi?" Flash cocked an eyebrow a bit confused. Flash looked back at Twilight who was hiding her head behind her right wing. Flash looked back at the five mares.
"He looks strong too," Said a blond orange earth pony.
"Um, Twilight do you know these ponies?" Flash walked back next to Twilight. Twilight stood up and faced the five mares.
"Flash these are my friends: Applejack," Twilight pointed to the orange earth pony."Rarity," She pointed to the white unicorn."Rainbow Dash," She pointed to a rainbow maned Pegasus."Pinkie Pie," She pointed to the pink earth pony." And Fluttershy ," She pointed to a yellow pink maned Pegasus." Girls you know Flash he's been assigned to be my royal guard and he's also my... coltfriend now" Twilight chuckled weakly.
"YAAAAAA! Welcome to ponyville/Twilight's got a royal guard/coltfriend PARTY!" Pinkie screamed. Suddenly the party pony pulled out a DJ station, a DJ, a stage, colored spotlights, and a karaoke set up. They were also suddenly inside a circus tent. Flash looked around trying to comprehend what just happened. He looked over to Twilight. She gave him a: 'You'll get use to it,' look.

The night went on as they partied. Flash talked and got to learn about all of Twilight's friends. Near the end of the party Pinkie walked up to the microphone.
"Hey everypony!!" She yelled."I got a new song by Pony City. This is actually a mash up between Adam Young's enchanted and Taylor Swift's 'Enchanted', this song is for Twilight and Flash," Flash and Twilight looked at each other a bit worried.
"I-I don't know, I don't sing," Flash stated. It was to late to turn back though, both of them had been pushed up to the mic's. Twilight looked a bit worried as wall. As soon as the song started Flash and Twilight read the lyrics. As they sang the two of them began to glow. Every pony looked in awe as the two of them sang. Not only were they glowing but there singing was unquestionably amazing. They continued to sing as they Shined brighter. Spike ran back into the library and grabbed the energy reading device. When he got back he pointed it at Flash and Twilight as they sang. Twilight's five friends walked over to the device in Spike's hands.
"Ah'm not a scientist but Ah'm sure that this is not normal," A.J stated. When the song ended Flash and Twilight turned and bowed. They turned look out from the stage. They saw that they attracted almost all of ponyville. Every pony was staring wide eyed mouths agape. One pony started clapping then two then four then eight, soon everyone was clapping, cheering, and whistling. Twilight and Flash walked down from the stage and walked over to there friends.
"What's going on," Twilight chuckled a little.
"See for yourself," Spike handed Twilight a long piece of paper. Twilight grabbed the paper and looked at it. She lifted an eyebrow then suddenly folded her ears back in embarrassment.
"W-where we glowing again?" Twilight blushed. There friends just nodded. Twilight looked over at Flash, he gave her a smile which made her feel better. She returned the smile and gave him a peck on the cheek and hugged him. Flash was taken completely off guard by the gesture but just smiled and returned the hug. The five mares all d'aawed at the the show of affection by the couple.

Twilight and Flash and Twilight walked back to the library with Spike already in bed. Twilight was about to go to her room but stopped.
"Flash," She said softly
"Yes Twily," Flash answered. Twilight gave him puppy-dog eyes. Flash just smiled as the two walked to the spare room. They sat down on the bed in the spare room. Twilight leaned forward and kissed Flash. He returned the kiss. They both fell asleep in each others arms. Twilight finally had some pony to call her own and she wouldn't have it any other way. Little did she know that there was some thing to come that would change her life forever and how important Flash really is to her.
Twilight opened her eyes as the morning light woke her up; she slept so well last night. Sleeping right next to her was the stallion of her dreams, just starting to wake up. He opened his eyes.
"Good morning gorgeous," Flash teased. Twilight giggled at his smart remark.
"Good morning handsome," Twilight returned his comment. Flash bounced his eyebrows causing Twilight to giggle again.
"Oh stop," Twilight playfully shoved him. He just smiled mischievously. She sighed and looked up."I guess I better check on Spike," She leaned over and gave him a peck on the cheek, and then got up and walked out of the room. Flash sat up in the bed, and suddenly noticed how energized he felt. He felt like he had the energy to could move a mountain, but something didn't feel right. He had this nagging feeling but he couldn't put his hoof on it.
"Hmm..." Flash rubbed his chin. He suddenly remembered that Spike had scanned his and Twilight's energy levels last night. Maybe the data could shed some light on this strange feeling. He got out of bed and put on his armor, grabbed his spear, and his tape recorder. Flash suddenly had an idea, he hadn't taken Twilight anywhere yet, and she likes Pony City, he also knows the the band personally. Maybe sometime this week he could take her to a live performance. Flash smiled at the idea. He could imagine the look on her face. Flash walked out of the room and closed the door behind him.

Twilight peered into her's and Spike's room. Spike was fast asleep in his basket. Twilight smiled and chuckled. He was so exhausted after the party, he was out like a light last night. She quietly closed the door so not to wake him. She walked into the main library and looked at the energy readings from last night. She went and grabbed two other energy readings, one was hers and the other was Flash's. Twilight walked over to a chalkboard. She held up the energy readings as she wrote things on the chalkboard. Flash walked in and saw Twilight writing things on the chalkboard while' looking at the energy readings.
"Hey Twily whatcha doing?" He walked up behind her.
"Oh, Flash,” She turned around." I was looking at the energy readings."
"What have you found out?"
"I don't know, it's strange," She pondered a sec. "I'm not sure what I'm looking at, it's unusual." Flash walked up and looked at the readings and at the chalkboard."If you look at my separate readings its consistent it has a very high amplitude and frequency. It's flawless and if that wasn't weird enough look at your's." Flash turned and looked at his energy reading and he suddenly noticed something."Your's is the same except its a half step ahead."
"You’re right and if you look at our combined energy reading it's like a helix!" Flash exclaimed.
"Yeah, but I found that if our energy waves were in perfect alignment then-" She paused, "It could blow a hole right through the universe!" Flash turned to her, his jaw almost on the floor. This information was shocking, absolutely shocking, hearing you could possibly blow a hole through space itself would shock anyone. “My energy readings are identical to pure magic, but yours are different, they’re offset, so they doesn't align with magic, yet I'm not quite sure what they do align with." Flash just stared, trying to comprehend what he was just told. Twilight looked at him, thinking he was confused. "Oh sorry, was it to scientific?"
"No I understand completely, it's just shocking."
"Wait you understand, I thought it was a bit scientific,"
"Heh, well I did take an advanced science class in high school, and I guess it was kinda easy," Flash smiled weakly while rubbing the back of his head. Twilight smiled at him, not only was he nice, strong, and handsome, but he was really smart too. Just then Spike came running in holding a letter. He still looked tired, since he had just woken up, but there was an urgent look in his eyes.
"Twilight! Celestia sent an urgent letter," Spike yelled worriedly. Twilight quickly grabbed the letter, read it, and started growing worried.
"What does it say Twilight?" Flash asked in a concerned tone of voice.
"We’re needed in Canterlot immediately. But she only called for you and me," Twilight turned to Flash. She then looked over to Spike, and hugged him because he looked very worried. " Don't worry Spike, I'll be back quick." Spike nodded.
"Okay," He responded.
"We should probably hurry," Twilight said as she got up and turned to Flash. He nodded and the two hurried out of the library. Outside of the library, there was a pair of royal guards pulling a chariot. Flash and Twilight knew Celestia had sent them to pick them up. Twilight and Flash stepped on the chariot and they were off. ---To Be Continued---
As the chariot approached Canterlot castle Twilight could see there were allot of guards even more than at her brothers wedding. Once the chariot landed Flash and Twilight stepped off and were escorted inside. They were taken to a set of large bronze double doors. They pushed it open and found Celestia, Luna, and Cadence all siting at a large round table in the center of the room.
"Ah, Twilight I'm glad you could make it," Celestia greeted them.
"I'm glad I could make it but whats the emergency?" Twilight asked in concern. Twilight sat down at the table and Flash stood by the door."Is there a new threat to Canterlot?"
"Not just Canterlot but all of Equestria could be in great danger," Celestia looked serious." I have had a new vision, a vision that could determine the fate of Equestria for all eternity." Celestia paused a second and took a deep breath and sighed." The Black Crystal Heart has awaken." Twilight felt her fear consume her. She had heard stories of the Dark Crystal Heart, but that's all they were was stories. Flash saw the horrified look on Twilight's face, he wanted to comfort her but all he could do was watch. The princesses saw the Flash looking at Twilight with a concerned look o his face. They took note of this but pushed it to the back of there minds'.
"You may already know this but," Cadence chimed in." The Dark Crystal Heart or D.C.H, for short, can be used to release Sombra from his frozen prison."
"Indeed, but if we were to get the heart first then we could possibly cure him of his insanity." Celestia spoke." The D.C.H was created from the core of a fallen star like the real Crystal Heart, but the D.C.H was used for evil instead of balance. Eventually it was banished to a distant land were it was supposedly in eternal slumber."
"B-but what does this have to do with me?" Twilight asked.
"Because I saw you along with four others going to retrieve it. Not only that but I predict that you are the only one who can hold the heart with out it corrupting you. Twilight your magic is a perfect balance between dark and light allowing you to harness it." Celestia explained. Twilight's brain tried to register the information that was just dumped on her. She was being chosen to go to a distant land to retrieve an 'evil dark heart' that could destroy all of Equestria as she knew it. Not to mention the danger she would face while there.
"Who will be accompanying me?" She asked.
"You will be accompanied by your guard Flash Sentry, Zecora, a palace guard known as Blazing Sword, and an inventor by the name of Phoenix," As on cue the doors to the room swung open and three ponies walked in. The first one was a zebra mare Twilight knew as Zecora. Behind her was a gray unicorn guard with a silver colored mane and silver spear on fire as a cutie mark. Next walked in a white unicorn stallion, orange mane and tail with a gold streak through it. He had blue eyes and his cutie mark was a blue phoenix flying out of an orange and brown cloud with small stars. The tree ponies walked in and bowed to the princesses.
"Princess Twilight it's a pleasure to meat you, I'm Phoenix," The white stallion said. He then looked up and saw Flash. Phoenix gave him a quizzical look as thought he was studying him. He soon turned his attention back to Twilight.
"Now since every pony is hear lets start with some introductions," Celestia said." First you already know Zecora, her knowledge of mythical creatures should help you out greatly on your journey. Next is Blazing Sword,"Celestia gestured to the guard," He is a master at magical weapons, enchantments, and magical combat. Finally is Phoenix but I'll let him explain." Phoenix nodded with a nod and stepped a few feet from the others.
"Deactivate EM field!" He called. Suddenly the air around him and a titanium exo-suit. The hole thing covered his body except for his mouth, horn, mane, and tail. His cutie mark shined on the flank of his armor. Twilight's jaw hit the floor as she saw the titanium armor appeared. He gave a slight chuckle at the looks on the faces of the ponies staring at him in aw. Oh I almost forgot, activate flight!" He called again. Suddenly a pair of titanium wings and two thrusts on both side. This time every pony in the room had there jaw on the floor. He burst out laughing. " Ah, that's priceless," He wiped away a tear that fell below his visor.
"Ah hem," Celestia cleared her thought causing every pony to focus on her." Now that we got that out of the way lets get down to business." Celestia pulled out a scroll and unrolled it partially revealing a map of Equestria. But she unrolled it the rest of the way revealing a second continent.

Twilight looked in aw at the map. She had never heard about this land before."Why have I never heard of this land before?" She asked
"This land is ancient very old,"Celestia responded." All information of this land has been lost to history."
"But then how did you fined this?" Flash piped up. He cringed realizing he wasn't given permission to speak."Oh, sorry princess."
"No need,"She smiled."That's a good question one that I should let Phoenix answer." She turned to the titanium pony. He nodded than turned to the others.
"I found it. I have an assortment of ancient texts and maps that I have found over my time. This is one of my most valuable items in my collection and is my favorite artifact."He explained." We'll be using this map on our journey to fined the D.C.H."
"But do we know were it is?" Twilight asked
"I'v been able to trace a dark magic signature coming from the heart of the continent which is were I suspect we will fined it."
"But how are we suppose to retrieve it?" Blazing asked."I thought the heart corrupts all who touch it."
"Not all..." Phoenix gestured to Twilight and ,for some reason, Flash.
"I thought only I could retrieve it?" Twilight questioned
"Oh did I gesture to Flash as well? Sorry, yes you are the only one."
"I have one more question though," Flash spoke." How long will we be gone?" Celestia pondered on this a moment, she hadn't thought about it yet.
"I'd say at least a few weeks, and you'll be leaving in three days," She concluded." I wish the best of luck to all of you."
"We will meet in Los Pegasus were we will board my bout and head for the other continent," Phoenix concluded. There was an exchange of looks around the room. Finally every pony nodded and the meeting was adjourned and they all left. Flash and Twilight returned to ponyville, it was quite the whole way back both of them not sure what to say.

The chariot landed out side the library in ponyville, Flash and Twilight stepped of the chariot and went inside. Flash closed the door and turned around to see Twilight just standing looking down. Suddenly she collapsed and began to hyperventilate. Flash ran over to her and tried to support her.
"Twilight are you alright?" He asked in concern. She looked up at him with tears welling up.
"No!," She yelled." I'm not okay... I just got back from a parallel universe a few weeks ago, not long after my coronation, I'll be going to a mysterious continent to get a Dark Crystal Heart that only I can retrieve, my friends won't be able to help me, and I'm just scared Flash! I'm scared Flash, and I don't think I can do it I'm not capable." Twilight was now crying uncontrollably. Flash was shocked, she seamed so calm a few seconds ago and now she was having a panic attack. Flash quickly pulled her into a hug to comfort her as he proceeded to stroke her mane.
"Twilight that's not true."He scolded a bit. Twilight flinched at it a bit but kept crying." You'v done so meany things before, you even said it your self. You were able to become a princess, go to another dimension and back. You defeated the spirit of chaos, defeated King Sombra, and even Nightmare Moon! You have done more impossible tasks than any one could do in a million years. You have come so far Twilight don't forget that." Flash put her at arms length and continued." You are capable of so much more than you think you are special to me and every one else. Your like a shooting star, you shine so bright that you could brighten the darkest nights. You illuminate the lives of all though's around you." He paused a sec then spoke." You deserve so much more than you have, you always tell your self that you're not all that great but your wrong! You are amazing and don't you forget that ever!" He finished. Twilight couldn't believe what she was hearing. She had gotten praise before but the way Flash said it made her feel different. She never felt this way before. She started to cry again but they went tears of sadness but tiers of joy. Flash made her feel happy really cared about her. She quickly leaned foreword and kissed him on the lips. Flash wasn't expecting it at all but he returned it passionately. When they broke apart Twilight nestled her head into the crook of his neck.
Twilight awoke to a knocking sound at her door. She had apparently fallen asleep on the floor last night. She turned her head to see an orange stallion sleeping next to her. Flash had calmed her down last night after they got back from meeting with the princesses about sending her on a journey. Apparently she was so emotionally exhausted she fell asleep in Flash's arms. She sighed happily as she gently nudged him.
"Flash," She whispered."Flash wake up." He stirred a bit before slowly opening his eyes.
"Morning beautiful," He bounced his eyebrows. Twilight blushed a bit at his comment.
"Oh stop it," She playfully shoved him.
"What, I can't call you beautiful?" Twilight just chuckled at his fake confusion. She leaned forward and gave him a quick peck on the lips.
"You’re too sweet," She cooed.
"That's good right?"
"Oh now you’re just being silly, but yes that's a good thing."
"That's good to know," He kissed her on the cheek. They were interrupted by another knock at the door. "We should probably get that." He said as he stood up.
"You know what time is it any way?" She asked as Flash helped her up. She looked at the clock and it read 9:23. After she got up, they walked to the door and she opened it. They were greeted by a white unicorn with orange and gold mane."Oh, morning um... Phoenix right?"
"That is correct princess," He bowed." I wanted to discuss with you about the journey."
"Oh of course come in," She stepped aside to let him in. As he walked in, she noticed his hooves weren't touching the floor." Um Phoenix, why are you floating?"
"Hmm," He looked down."Oh right, STORAGE MODE," He commanded. Suddenly, his titanium armor materialized around him. It started to unfold and open up and he stepped out. The titanium armor continued to fold itself into a cube. After a minute, the armor had folded itself into a 5 meter wide cube with its owner’s cutie mark glowing on one side. They both just stared at it in absolute awe. They were snapped out of there daze by Phoenix." I can see you’re impressed," He chuckled. They just nodded, still too surprised to speak. “I can tell you two about it later, right now I need to talk about what I came to talk to you about first," He said as they walked over to some cushions and sat down on them. “Okay so lets get down to business," He started." I came to first ask you how good you are at flying."
"Um, well..." She trailed off." I don't really know how to fly to well, why?"
"I wanted to know because you’re still important and it would be a good way to escape if there is a threat."
"Oh I see, but no I don't know how to fly to well. I've been meaning to ask my friends to help but Rainbow isn't really patient enough to be a teacher and Fluttershy isn't the strongest flyer herself," She said sheepishly.
"Hmm, maybe you should have Flash help you."
"I don't know I'm not really a good teacher," Flash rubbed the back of his neck and turned to Twilight sitting next to him. She was giving him a hopeful look."But I guess I could try." Phoenix smiled and nodded.
"After you learn how to fly well enough, then we will work on combat. It's important that you know how to defend yourself if flight is not an option."
"I know plenty of combat spells," Twilight stated.
"Yes but magic may not always be an option. No what I mean is hoof to hoof or weapon combat."
"I know quite a lot about non-magical combat." Flash proclaimed."I could try and teach her some skills."
"I don't doubt you on that, but I have a friend who is a master in close combat," Phoenix responded." He knows quite a lot about it and is a great instructor."
"That sounds good. but I don't know how well I'll do," Twilight said a bit worried.
"C’mon Twily you can do anything,"Flash encouraged the princess causing her to blush a little, remember what we talked about last night?" Twilight started to recall last night. He was right, she had done many great things before, so this should be a walk in the park. She turned back to the Unicorn and nodded. He smiled and got up. He walked back over to the cube and reactivated it.
"Well I guess I'll see you two later,"he said as he stepped into his armor. I'll be back later or maybe tomorrow to start your close combat training." With that his armor finally clicked into place and he left. After a few minutes Flash spoke up.
"Well that was interesting," He chuckled." I wonder what other secrets he has?"
"I don't know but we'll probably find out over time,"Twilight responded." But I'm actually excited to finally learn how to fly."
"Well then lets go out side and see what we can do about that."

"Good now tilt your left wing down a bit." Flash instructed. He was trying to teach Twilight how to fly, so far she was doing very well.
"Like this?" She tilted her left wing down causing her to turn left slightly. Right now he was teaching her to glide and it was easy so far.
"Good now if you tilt your right wing up at the same time you'll turn more," She did as he commanded and tilted her right wing up, but she tilted too fast causing her to turn really fast, right into her instructor. Thankfully he was ably to catch her and stabilize himself. “Whoa careful there. I know I'm attractive, but I didn't think I was that magnetic," he joked causing Twilight to giggle. “How about we stop for today and get something to eat." the princess' stomach growled in response causing her to blush. “I'll take that as a yes."
Flash landed and set her down gently. They walked to the Hay Burger and sat down at an outdoor table. A waiter came and took their order. After the waiter left the two just waited and shared some small talk. Soon there food came and they ate. They paid for their food and left to take a walk in the park. Once they got there they sat down on a bench and looked out over the lake together. For some reason Twilight had a sudden urge to fly again.
"Hey you want to try flying again?" Flash suddenly asked. She was kinda surprised that he asked her just what she was thinking, but she just took it as a coincidence.
"Sure I was just thinking the same thing," She responded while getting off the bench. Flash followed suit and they took off into the sky. After a while Twilight was confident enough to try something else. But just as she was about to ask flash spoke first.
"Hey Twily you wanna race?" He asked. How does he keep doing that?, she wondered. Some how he asked her exactly what was on her mind. Again she took it as a coincidence.
"Sure where to?"
"How about to the Library?"
"Okay that sounds good."
"Okay. On your mark. Get set. GO!" Flash yelled. With that they were off. The park was on the opposite side of town from the park, so it gave them a good distance. Flash took the lead but Twilight was slowly catching up. He was surprised at first, but then he realized she was breathing heavily and she was sweating."Twilight are you okay?" He asked, but she didn't hear him. Eventually she pulled ahead. Flash was now starting to strain himself to keep up. He was surprised by how long she was holding up. She was panting really fast and sweating uncontrollably, yet some how she was able to pull ahead. Flash was no longer concerned about the race. He was concerned about Twilight. She was pushing herself too hard, and he was afraid she might hurt herself or worse. Soon they made it back to the Library, and Twilight had won by a nose, yet as soon as they landed she started to sway a bit. Suddenly she collapsed, but luckily Flash had ran up to her caught her before she fell over.
"Th...thanks F...Flash," She said between breaths. She was tired and sore but she was fine. It was fun so she that couldn't complain.
"Wow Twily, I thought you were going to pass out halfway through the race. You’ve got a lot of endurance."
"Th... thanks. I wasn't really paying attention and I got caught up in the moment, sorry."
"It's alright just don't push yourself so much next time, okay"
"Okay," Twilight responded. Flash looked out to the horizon; the sun was just starting to set.
"Maybe we should go inside, it’s getting late." He said. She didn't object to it, so he took it as a yes. He picked her up and carried her into the house. He walked into her room and rested her on the bed.
"Ah! my wings," the alicorn groaned in pain as she was laid down."Faust am I sore."
"Where does it hurt?" Flash asked.
"At the base, where the joints are." She rolled over onto her stomach with her wings partially open. Flash sat on the bed next to her.
"Here sit up and turn around," He commanded.
"Okay..." She sat up curious to see where this was heading. She turned around and faced away from Flash."Flash what arAAAAAHH!!!" She was interrupted by something rubbing her wing joints, causing her wings to shoot out from her sides. Flash had started massaging her wing joints gently. She was shocked at first and considered punching him across the muzzle, but she started to melt under his soft touch and began to relax.
"Is that better?" He asked. All she could do to respond was nod. She slowly started to lay down on her stomach as his hooves worked her sore joints. Flash positioned himself so he could reach her wing joints easily. Just then Spike walked in.
"Hay Twilight I... what are you two doing?" Spike interrupted himself when he saw: Twilight laying on her stomach with Flash standing over her with his front hooves rubbing her wing joints. They both looked at him awkwardly"Never mind I'll just grab my bed and go." Spike quickly grabbed his basket and ran out of the room.
"That was..." Twilight started.
"Awkward." Flash finished.
"Yeah," Twilight said as Flash stopped massaging and began to get off."Where do you think your going, I'm still sore" She said with a fake pout. Flash stopped himself and looked at her with a sly smile. He re-positioned himself and continued to massage her. This time a little harder, causing her to moan and sigh in comfort. After a while she was no longer sore so he stopped. Flash laid down next and smiled.
"Feel better?" He asked
"Yeah. Thanks again Flash."
"Anything for you Twily." He reached over and wrapped her in a hug.
"I love you Flash" She cuddled up against the stallion.
"I love you too Twily." They started to drift off to sleep when suddenly a low growl sounded from Flash's stomach.
"Hungry?" Twilight smiled.
"Yeah."
"Why don't I go make us dinner." She said while starting to get up. She got up off the bed but found that her wings were still sticking out. Flash stifled a laugh when he saw he wings shooting out. Twilight just rolled her eyes. She quickly gave him a playful punch to his right shoulder." You’re such a dork."
"Ya but I'm your dork," He replied. Twilight giggled and gave him quick peck on the the cheek.
