Chapter I: Welcome to Ponyville

View Online

Princess Celestia was reading her weekly letter from Twilight on what she learned today about friendship! At the end of the letter she was saying how she was so thankful that Princess Celestia sent her to Ponyville to study friendship and how she loves her friends and so on and so forth.

Celestia then had an idea, she wasn’t sure if it going to work or not, but it was something she could indeed try. She walked out of her chamber and walked over to Princess Luna’s room, which was lock oddly enough.

“Princess Luna?” Celestia started to knock on the door. “Can I talk to you please?”

Luna on the other side of the door hesitate before she made her reply. “Sure, just give me a minute.”

Celestia waited outside her room for several minutes before Luna finally opened the door. “Sorry sister, I was just getting settled into my new room, I haven’t seen it for a thousand years after all.”

Celestia walked in while nodding. “That’s fine Luna,” the solar sister walked over and sat on a pillow that just so happened to be on the ground.

Luna grabbed a cup of tea and placed it next to her sister. “So what is it that you want sister?”

Celestia took a sip of her tea and placed it down next to her. “I would like you to go to Ponyville, where Twilight Sparkle and the other elements of harmony are and see if you can make some new friends! After all, you haven’t really interacted with anypony in over a thousand years.”

Sitting down across from her sister, Luna gave it some thought before making her reply. “I don’t know if that is such good idea sister,” Luna replied with a concern look. “Some ponies may still know me as Nightmare Moon, or may think I might transform back into this beast.”

Celestia knew where Luna was coming from this, but she still laughed at her remark. “Princess Luna,” she started off. “Nopony is going to think you’re some sort of beast! The only way ponies will think that is if you act like one! So to avoid ponies thinking you’re a beast, don’t act like one!”

Luna shrugged as she poured her sister some more tea. “I guess what you are saying is rather true in a sense, but I still do not know if this is good idea sister.”

“Come on Luna!” Celestia stood up after finishing the tea. “I think it would be fun! Tell you what, you only have to interact with only some of the ponies, like I defiantly want you to talk to Twilight Sparkle. If you want to talk to her friends that’s up to you but I would like you to talk to her the most out of them all.”

Luna finally conceded. “Fine, I will.”

Thank you best sister ever,” Celestia giggled.

“You owe me ‘tia,” Luna said as she walked out of her room.

Sure I do, Luna!”

Luna walked over to a balcony that had a wonderful view of Ponyville, Cloudsdale, and you can even see Manehatten. She was gazing at Ponyville, it looked so peaceful, but she didn’t know if she was ready or not.

“What will I do if the Ponies in Ponyville don’t like me?” Luna thought to herself as a frown formed on her face. “I guess it doesn’t hurt anypony for me to spend a couple of hours in Ponyville! I hope…”

Luna walked away from the balcony and back to her room. When she returned Celestia wasn’t there and her room looked more clean than usual. “Hmm, that was nice of ‘tia to clean my room for me.”

Luna walked over to the window that overlooked the sun as she saw it set. She used her powers to raise the moon to make way for the nighttime.

“It still feels weird doing this all again after a thousand years have passed,” Luna thought as she walked over to her bed and got into it. “Since there is nothing special going on tonight, I think I’m in the clear for some sleep. Tomorrow I shall head out for Ponyville, I just hope nothing goes terribly wrong.”

Morning arose as Luna got out of bed and walked over to lower the moon for the sun. She walked to Celestia’s chamber and walked in to see if Celestia wanted her to leave now or not.

Celestia already awake and raising the sun, looked back at her sister and smiled. “Morning Luna! Ready to have a fun and exciting day at Ponyville!”

Luna rolled her eyes as she just stood there in the doorway. “I guess, if you are sister.”

“Don’t you remember me saying yesterday? You’re going alone!”

“Oh, yeah, I remember,” Luna had a sad look on her face.

Celestia walked over to her little sister and put her hoof on her shoulder. “Come on Luna, you’ll be fine, I promise,” a huge creepy smile formed on Celestia’s face.

Luna giggled as she conceded once more. “Fine, you win sister. So when do you want me to head out?”

“Probably now being that Twilight is usually up by now and maybe even her friends are,” Celestia escorted Luna to the same balcony she was on yesterday.

“Remember, don’t act too monstrous now, you want Ponies to like Princess Luna, and not Nightmare Moon,” Celestia patted Luna on the shoulder.

“I understand ‘tia,” Luna said as she unfolded her wings prepared to take flight.

“Good luck Luna,” Celestia smiled as she saw Luna lift off.

“Thank you Celestia, I’ll need it,” Luna said as she flew off.

The morning breeze felt good against Luna’s body as she started to fly over the train station. A couple of the Ponies on the ground started to wave at her as she was flying overhead. Luna politely waved back as she went back to complete focus on the flight to Ponyville, which probably wouldn’t take that long in the first place.

Luna touched down right outside the walls of Ponyville, slightly unsure what would happen if she walked in unannounced like this. Holding her bravery, she walked into the walls and looked around. Everypony didn’t seem to pay much attention to her, just went about their business.

Once Luna entered and started to walk towards the centre of Ponyville towards the town hall, that’s when Ponies really started to notice her. They would wave at her with bright smiles or maybe just get flashed a smile or two but that’s really about it, nothing too special.

Mayor Mare just so happen to be walking out when she noticed Princess Luna. “Oh hello Luna!” the mayor got a little bit fugitive. “Um, should I bow before you?”

“No need to Mayor of Ponyville I am here just as a visitor. I would like directions to the place that Twilight Sparkle is staying at if that’s okay,” Luna smiled at her as the mayor began to calm down.

“That’s it? She lives right over there, inside that big treehouse,” Mayor Mare pointed to their left.

Luna looked over and saw the giant treehouse. “Thank you mayor,” Luna said as she started trotting towards the direction of the treehouse.

“You’re welcome Luna!” Mayor Mare waved as she started to walk away from the town hall.

It wasn’t that far of a walk to the giant treehouse, in fact there weren’t that many houses between the town hall and the treehouse. It was rather strange but Luna didn’t care, Ponyville was built quite a while after she was banished to the moon after all.

Luna reached the treehouse and saw a sign right next to it that read out: “Welcome to the golden oak library.” ”Of course Twilight would live in a library during her time in Ponyville.” Luna thought to herself as she walked up and knocked on the door.

The door flew open and she was greeted by Spike rather than Twilight. “Oh hey Luna! What’s up?”

“What? Where is Twilight Sparkle?” Luna looked confused.

“You don’t know who I am do you Luna?” Spike looked at her weirdly.

“No I do not, sorry,” Luna looked rather sad.

Spike smiled at her. “No biggy! I’m Spike, Twilight’s assistant,” Spike turned his head so he was looking inside of the treehouse. “TWILIGHT! LUNA’S HERE TO SEE YOU!” he yelled.

“Alright Spike, tell her I’ll be down there in a minute!” she replied.

Spike turned his head so he was looking at Luna again. “Sorry, just rearranging her room for the fifth time in the past week!” Spike giggled to himself.

“I heard that Spike!” Twilight called back to him annoyed.

“Just get your purple butt down here Twi!” Spike called back to her.

”Hehe, purple butt,” Luna giggled to herself.

Spike opened the door all the way to let Luna in. Luna saw rows of books and a moa looking thing in the centre of Twilight’s library. She giggled at that sight and walked over and sat down on a couch that was adjacent from kitchen doorway.

Twilight started to walk down carrying some sort of book that she put on a bottom row shelf. After she did that, she saw Princess Luna sitting on her couch and walked over to greet her.

“Hello Prince- Ahhh!” Twilight was cut off by a massive headache that caused her to fall to the ground. “What is, happen-ing?” she yelled as she gripped her head and started to twitch violently on the floor.

Spike panicked and started to walk toward the exit of the golden oak. “I-I’m going to go get N-N-Nurse Redheart, stay here with her!” Spike ran out the door and out of sight

.

Luna jumped off the couch and kneeled down next to her. “Twilight, can you hear me?”

Twilight slightly nodded before she moved her hooves from her head to her torso. “Now the pain is starting to shoot through my body! Why is this that is happening?”

Luna looked around to try to find something that could help her. Just then there was a knock on the door that caused the door to open all the way.

“Hello, I heard screaming going on-What is going on?” the light brown stallion saw Twilight twitching and Luna next to her.

“I didn’t do this, this just happen randomly!” Luna got up and pleaded at him.

“It’s t-true,” Twilight backed her up.

The light brown stallion walked over to Twilight and knelt down next to her. He put his hoof on her head and started to count silently to himself. “Twilight, how many books do you own?” the stallion asked her.

“Five-hundred and-and, I don’t know!” Twilight shouted as her seizure like movements got worse by the second.

“I think she’s going into a coma,” the light brown stallion said. “We have to get ahold of an evac team!”

Just then, Spike came back with Nurse Redheart and a medical team behind her. Redheart was relieved to know that the light brown stallion and a Princess was watching over her. “Doctor Whooves, what is her current condition?”

Luna looked up at her. “She’s going into a coma we think, it seems she cannot think straight or interact that well,” Luna looked back down at her.

“Thank you Luna,” Whooves looked at her. “She hasn’t been acting like this for long, I think. But I do know it’s getting worse by the minute, we have to get her to Memorial Hospital!”

Redheart nodded and looked behind her. “Get the stretcher!”

Two buff stallions walked around her and unraveled the stretcher and gently placed Twilight on it. Her seizure like movements were going to make it difficult to transport her, so Luna used her magic to refrain the mare from making too much movement.

All five ponies including Spike walked out of the treehouse and dashed towards the hospital. There were security ponies keeping the crowd in check while all of them were transporting the mare. Lot’s them had horrified looks on their faces as they saw their beloved Twilight suffering like that. Some of the Ponies even thought that Princess Luna was the one causing this, even though even they knew that they were wrong for the fact that there were four medical Ponies transporting the mare.

Once they finally reached the hospital as fast as they could make it, they put Twilight on a surgical bed and rushed her to a room. Once Princess Luna canceled the spell that was refraining Twilight from moving, they found out that her seizure like movements had faded a bit.

When they hooked her up to all the medical machines and put an IV into her lower right hoof, they soon found out that her brain activity was going down. The doctors in the room didn’t know what was causing all of this so they didn’t really know what to do. When they tried to talk to Twilight, they go no reply out of her, just moans and mumbles.

They injected her with a medicine that you use to calm a person down during seizures, it did nothing. After about five minutes of trying to figure out what to do, Twilight passed out.

Spike began to cry as Luna tried to comfort him. Soon a tear ran down Luna’s eye as they were sure she was going to die. Her heart rate was dropping, so there was almost no hope for the mare.

Doctor Whooves was looking at the mare closely, opening her eyelids to look at her pupils, then to see if her breathing was normal. Whooves shook his head as he walked over to Spike and Luna who were still crying.

“I’m sorry, but I don’t think Twilight is going to make it. We don’t have the slightest idea on what’s caused this, if we knew we would have certainly done something about this by now! But we just don’t know, I’m sorry. For now she’s going on life support, but if she doesn’t get any better by tomorrow afternoon, we have to pull the plug,” Whooves looked down in shame.

This only made Spike and Luna cry harder. “If it’s okay,” Luna looked up and said. “Can we stay here with Twilight, for this one night?”

Whooves nodded and smiled as he stepped out of the room. From all the commotion that went on today it was already nightfall. Two nurses walked in and brought two sleeping bags for both of them to stay the night with. They then enclosed the curtains around Twilight’s bed covering her almost lifeless body.

The two nurses walked out as Spike hopped into his sleeping bag. “You okay Luna?” Spike asked as she was crying more intense than a little bit ago.

“No Spike, this is all my fault! I shouldn’t have come here in the first place! Celestia said I should visit Ponyville to try to make new friends but what has it caused me! To lose another friend! I’m sorry Spike, but tomorrow I’m leaving and never coming back here. I might even have Celestia banish me to the moon again, because the only thing I bring to Ponies are pain and suffering! I’m sorry Spike,” Luna shoved her face into her hooves.

Spike got out of his sleeping bag and sat next to Luna again. “Princess Luna, the beautiful Princess of the Night, please don’t blame this on yourself. This isn’t the first time Twilight has had random headache, this is the worst it’s been but it isn’t the first time! You didn’t cause Twilight to go into this coma, I promise. Please don’t beat yourself up over it,” tears were starting to form in Spike’s eyes.

Luna looked over at him and smiled. “You’re right Spike. Come on, we can discuss this more in the morning,” Luna said as she walked over to her sleeping bag.

“You’re right Luna,” Spike hopped off the chair and into his sleeping bag. “Goodnight Luna,” Spike said as he closed his eyes.

“Goodnight Spike,” Luna said as she closed her own eyes. Luna did have a couple of thoughts that came to mind before she drifted off to sleep.“This is possibly the worst day of my life, and tomorrow when it is revealed that Twilight is dead won’t be any better. They’re going to accuse me and have Celestia banish me to the moon again. I just hope by some miracle that she wakes up, hopefully.”

Chapter II: First of Many

It was dark out and everypony has gone to sleep. Ponyville seemed like a dark ghost town, with no life lingering among it. But of course, there’s always that one Pony that decides to go shopping at twelve o’clock midnight.

“Come on Dinky! We can probably stop by the market before it closes!” a light blue pegasus told her foal.

“I don’t know mommy,” the foal replied. “Don’t stores usually close at like seven pm?” the foal looked oddly concern.

“Don’t be silly Dinky! Look! There it is over there!” the light blue pegasus with a blonde mane walked over to the small building that was labeled ‘The Ponyville Super Food!’ When the pegasus tried to open the door, to her surprise, she couldn’t. The sign that was on the door read: ‘Open Monday-Saturday 11am-7pm’.

“See mommy!” the blonde haired foal pointed at the sign. “I told you so!”

“Okay Dinky you’re right, I guess we can go home,” the light blue pegasus and the foal turned towards the direction of their house, until they heard something ominous.

“Derpy Hooves,” the voice called out from an unknown location.

Derpy turned around and got into a ready position. “Who’s there? Show yourself!”

“Right above you,” the same voice called out.

A shiver ran down Derpy’s spine as she looked up. She saw on top of a roof a pair of faint purple cat eyes and what looked like brown fur.

“Die!” the figure called out as she lunged at Derpy with its razor fangs exposed. The beast jumped down at punched Derpy with a tremendous force. She flew a couple of feet and landed on her back. The beast then hopped on top of her and used her razor fangs to bite into her windpipe, ripping it out along with her vocal cords.

Blood went everywhere as the beast continued to dig into her neck, ripping out all kinds of flesh and even clawed threw vanes and such. The foal sat there in disbelief as she saw her own

mom getting ripped apart right in front of her.

The foal struggled to get to her feet but the beast looked over at her and pounced off of Derpy onto the little foal.

Derpy used her last little strength to look at her kid one more time before she passed, leaving her kid with this horrifying beast.

“Tell us kid,” the beast looked at her with her blood covered teeth. “What’s your name?”

“D-Dinky, Dinky Hooves. And please don’t kill me! I’ll, I’ll give you whatever you want! I won’t tell anypony that you killed my mom and orphaned me!” tears started to form in Dinky’s eyes.

“We really wish we could believe that,” the beast smirked at her. ”But we can’t, and it’s time for your passing, Dinky!”

Before Dinky could scream to wake somepony up, the beast bit down into her throat, also ripping out her windpipe and vocal cords. Instead of digging into her neck, the beast looked up at her horn. Curious to see how her horn tasted, she dug her teeth around the area of the horn and bit it right off. The beast didn’t like how it tasted and spat it out before digging back into the foal’s neck.

Dinky got one last good look at the beast before it was time for her to pass, and one and only thought came to her mind: “I love you mom, I’ll see you soon.” With that final thought, Dinky passed away along with her dear mother.

The next morning Spike and Luna woke up to a huge commotion. They looked out the window that overlooked Ponyville and saw that almost the entire population of the town was gathered by the town hall. So Spike and Luna quickly got out of their sleeping bags and rushed outside, didn’t even to bother noticing that Twilight’s bed curtain was open, or the fact that she wasn’t even in her bed.

Once both of them were outside, they ran to the town hall as fast as they could to see what was going on.

“Stay calm everypony. Please stay calm!” Mayor Mare was trying to get to the crowd but nopony was listening, just having their own little conversations.

Once Luna and Spike showed up, one of the officers who was standing by the side walked up to them and asked them something.

“Excuse me, do both of y’all have a second?” the police stallion looked concern.

“Yeah sure, what’s going on?” Luna also looked concern.

“I’ll tell y’all once we get to the crime scene, just follow me and don’t ask question until we get there,” the police stallion looked around nervously as if he was trying to avoid anypony paying attention him.

They walked along side of the crowd until they were mere feet away from the Ponyville grocery store.

“Any particular reason you’re taking us to the grocery store?” Spike asked looking just as concern as the police stallion did.

“You’ll know once we get there, trust me,” he didn’t even bother to look back at them.

There was police tape surrounding the entirety of the store with all kinds of police ponies around the area. The police stallion lifted the tap to allow Luna and Spike in.

“Go ask one of the officers to show you the full crime scene, and if he rejects tell him ‘the night is passing’,” the stallion lowed the tape and started to walk away from them. “I got to get back to my position, take care.”

“Bye, um, officer!” Spike yelled back.

While Spike was saying goodbye, Luna walked over to one of the officers. “Excuse me, but one of your fellow comrades told Spike and I over there that we should take a look at the crime scene.”

The officer looked at Luna. “You can your highness but I’m afraid the dragon cannot. Regardless if he’s with you or not.”

Spike overheard the conversation and walked up beside Luna. “Well the night is passing,” Spike told the officer.

The officer raised an eyebrow in disbelief as he nodded and pointed in the direction of the crime scene. Luna nodded as she trotted towards the appointed direction while Spike followed closely.

They finally reached the crime scene and they almost went into shock from what they saw. There stood the dead corps of Derpy Hooves and Dinky Hooves. Both of their heads hanging on by their spinal cord and the entire right side of their faces were eaten to bone.

Spike fainted from the shock of seeing one of the most positive mares in Equestria dead as dead can be. Luna just stood there with her mouth wide open in disbelief.

“What happen?” Luna asked out loud. Lost in her own words by this horrific scene.

A large officer stallion walked then walked up to Luna. “We don’t know, that’s what we’re trying to figure out. All we know is this crime was committed sometime late last night. We’re waiting for Doctor Whooves to get here so he can investigate the bodies, but for the time being we just got to make sure nopony else see the bodies. We already know everypony in Ponyville is aware of the murders.”

“Wait, isn’t Doctor Whooves a doctor at memorial hospital?” Luna looked confused.

“Not really,” the officer replied. “He’s more like a volunteer sorta. He knows one or two things about Pony Anatomy and how the body works and functions so he often volunteers when they need an extra hoof or two, like yesterday. He’s mainly a detective, well more like a problem solver.”

Luna nodded. “I understand, should I go talk to the crowd to see if they know anything?”

“I think that would be a great idea, especially because Whooves is taking too long and I think Mayor Mare is starting to lose control of them,” the officer looked in the direction the crowd was in.

“It’ll be done, thank you officer,” Luna picked up Spike with her magic and placed her on her back.

“No problem Luna,” the stallion waved at her as she flew off towards the crowd. “Take care!”

One of the other officers who was inspecting the crime scene walked up to that officer who was just talking to Luna. “Do you think she might be the one who killed Derpy and Dinky?”

The other officer shook his head. “Nah. Besides, if it was her, then why did she even come to the scene of the crime? Don’t crime committers usually try to stay away from the scene of the crime?”

The other officer shrugged as Luna went out of view from them. “I guess you have a point.”

Luna touched down on the stage next to the mayor who was having a really difficult time keeping the crowd in check. She sighed in relief when Luna came to her aid.

“Oh thank goodness you’re here Luna!” the mayor pleaded to her. “Could you please try to calm all these confused and panicked ponies down?”

“I’ll try,” Luna said as she walked towards the centre of the stage. “WILL EVERYPONY CALM DOWN!!?” Luna shouted at all of them in the ‘ROYAL CANTERLOT VOICE’.

Luna cleared her throat before she began to talk again. “Thank you for your silence. Now I’m sure you all are well aware of the crime that was committed supposedly last night.”

A cyan pegasus with a rainbow coloured mare flew up from the crowd. “Yeah we are, in fact she was loved by everypony here! And we also think you’re the reason behind it!”

“Wha-what? I know who you are, you are one of the elements of harmony! You should know that I’m completely changed now and we do no harm to anypony here!” Luna was starting to get furious.

“Yeah, as a matter of fact I am, and I know we all saw you helping Nurse Redheart and her gage to the hospital when Twilight was completely find earlier that day. Care to explain what happened when you entered her house?” the cyan pegasus crossed her hooves.

Just then, Spike woke up and looked around to see what was going on. “Huh? What did I miss?”

The cyan pegasus looked at Spike and smirked. “Spike, was Princess Luna the reason why Twilight had to go to the hospital yesterday and for all we know could be dead?”

“First of all Rainbow Dash, she’s not dead, and second of all, no it’s wasn’t Luna,” Spike was just annoyed as Luna was. “I was there the entire time during Luna’s visit yesterday.”

Rainbow Dash went from mad to confuse. “Then, should we go see her in the hospital or something?”

“There’s no need to Rainbow Dash!” a familiar voice all out to her.

Rainbow Dash and the rest of the crowd turned towards this voice and were in disbelief on who it was.

“That’s right everypony, I’m alive and kicking,” Twilight said as she stood right next to Doctor Whooves.

The crowd backed up forming a narrow path for Twilight and Doctor Whooves to walk towards the stage. Once there, Twilight and Whooves got onto the stage, bowed before Princess Luna, and took place in the centre of the stage.

“Let me start off by saying the reason why I was in the hospital yesterday was because I went into a coma, but I’m alive now. How I’m alive? I do not know,” Twilight had a confused look on her face.

Doctor Whooves stepped up after her. “This morning I was taking a friendly stroll around Ponyville when I noticed Twilight, blood covering her muzzle, right outside her house! When I went over to see if she was okay, she just woke up like waking up from any old sleep!”

“I don’t remember anything from last night, all I know is I passed out on the medical bed and woke up right outside my door. The funny thing is, I sort of feel like, how do I say it, died that night,” even Twilight was confused on what she was saying. “I don’t know it’s hard to explain. The point is I’m alive, and maybe this entire thing was a setup.”

“You were on life support Twilight, you were announced legally dead,” Doctor Whooves looked at her.

“I don’t know Doctor Whooves,” Twilight looked at him with a sad and confused face. “I’m still trying to figure out how I am still alive right now. Maybe my vital body functions started to work again and I just woke up and was possibly sleep walking, I don’t know! That doesn’t explain the blood on my mouth though.”

“This is a real head scratcher isn’t it?” Doctor Whooves looked worried for the first time in a long time.

“Indeed it is but we can worry about how I came back to life later. Our main objective right now is to find out who killed Derpy and Dinky,” Twilight said as she walked off stage, Doctor Whooves, Luna, and Spike following closely.

Twilight and the rest of the gang made their towards the crime scene while the other Ponyville pedestrians made their way home hoping that everything gets better.

Spike and Luna stayed outside the police tape this time because they couldn’t bear seeing that awful sight a second time, so Twilight and Doctor Whooves just went in alone.

Once they got there, seeing the mangled body didn’t make their job any easier, but somepony had to do it. One of the officers noticed the two investigators and walked over to them carrying something.

“This is something that was dripping off Derpy when we got here, it isn’t blood, but maybe saliva?” the officer looked confused.

Whooves took the bag and studied it closely. “This is definitely saliva, no questioning it. So that must mean that whoever killed these two innocent ponies ripped them to shreds with their teeth!”

A worried look formed on Twilight’s face. “Wait, I had blood on my mouth when I woke up this morning, do you think it was, me?” Twilight was thinking out loud.

Whooves choked back a giggle. “I highly doubt it Twilight, judging by those marks on her face it looked like razor fangs, which to my understanding you don’t have.”

Twilight opened her mouth and swept her tongue across her top and bottom teeth, nothing pointy in there. “Hmm, I guess you do have a point, anyways should we start to look for clues?”

“Absolutely,” Whooves said as he slid under the police tape guarding the two bodies right outside the market. “Let’s do this.”

Twilight followed him under the tape and within close radius of the bodies. The first place they inspected was within one foot of both bodies, maybe the killer left something behind. And sure enough, Whooves found something.

“Hey Twilight, come look at this,” Whooves gestured Twilight to come see what he has found.

Twilight walked over there making sure she didn’t step on the bodies to see what Whooves had found. Turns out, he had found a streak of a single dark brown hair, no longer than two inches.

“Do you think it was some sort of wolf that may be attacked them?” Whooves looked at her with a puzzled face.

“I suppose it’s possible, but why didn’t this wolf come after me?” Twilight’s brain was going in several directions at once.

“Maybe he did attack you. No wait, we would have noticed some marks on your mouth if he had attack. Well we can worry about that later, the point is we might have found what killed these two mares. Maybe we should have officers guard the night just in case this wolf decides to peek his pretty little head back in,” Whooves told her as he slipped the hair into a plastic bag.

“I’d say we could call upon the royal guard, but that might be a little extreme you know?” Twilight giggled with doubt.

Whooves thought about it. “Maybe we should get one royal guard down here? Just in case?”

Twilight agreed to that. “Yeah, that’s a good idea.”

Both of them agreed and walk out of the crime scene too where Luna and Spike where hanging out. Twilight told them their plan and what they had found around there and Luna agreed it was a good idea to have at least one elite officer down here.

Nighttime fell upon them as a platoon of ten to twenty officers that stood in front of Luna and the royal guard member right outside the city hall.

“My fellow officers, this is Flash Sentry, he will help you guys defend Ponyville from this supposed wolf tonight. He is trained and he can handle almost any situation, don’t hesitate to ask him for help, you all got that?” Luna asked.

All the officers nodded in agreement as Flash appointed them to their designated spots for the night. Twilight was watching the entire thing from her window that overlooked the city hall. She was worried about tonight, what if this wolf is stronger than anypony thought and would just slaughtered all those guards.

“You okay Twilight?” Spike asked her in concern.

Twilight shook her head. “I’m just worried that maybe this wolf is super strong. The only wolves we see in Ponyville are timber wolves and they aren’t that difficult to deal with. If they catch this wolf I want the body so I can study it and try to find out its origins.”

Spike laughed a little. “I’m sure they’ll be fine Twilight. Now go to bed, we have a big day tomorrow anyways,” Spike said as he hopped into his bed adjacent from Twilight’s.

Twilight hopped into her bed and covered herself up. “You’re right Spike, goodnight.”

“Goodnight Twi,” Spike said as he wrapped his covers around him.

Twilight dozed off to sleep rather quickly being that she had a really long day today. She was laughing about some of the things she was thinking about earlier, how this wolf was stronger than all those officers out there. However, while she was laughing, her teeth began to grow longer, and pointier.

Spike woke up to loud noises coming from what he guessed the kitchen. He looked at the clock that was mounted on the door and it read ’12:15 am’. He even looked over at Twilight’s bed and saw there is no Twilight sleeping in it.

”She must have gotten hungry during the night or something,” Spike thought to himself as he go out of his bed. “I’ll go see what she’s stirring up in the kitchen.”

Spike knew that Twilight wasn’t a good cook in the slightest so she was probably getting some crackers or something. As he was walking down the stairs late at night, it sounded like pots and pans were being tossed around in the kitchen.

Confused and tired, Spike’s curiosity got the better of him and he peeked into the kitchen. To his surprise, he saw the outline of what he thought was Twilight.

But then he focuses more on the figure that was half covered by the fridge door and saw that it was Twilight, thankfully the light of the fridge illuminated what he could see of Twilight but Spike quickly noticed that Twilight wasn’t her normal colours.

First of all her coat with a grayish-brownish, and her cutie mark was still there but it was a darker tint of black. Her tail was the same colour as her coat but her normal pink stripes that went along her tail were darker shades of black. When he looked down at her hooves, he saw that they were completely white up to where the fur of her coat met.

“Um, Twilight? Is that you?” Spike approached her slightly freaked out.

‘Twilight’ stopped what she was doing and close the fridge door and looked at Spike with her purple cat-like eyes. Twilight’s horn was still there, however her mane was the same colour pattern as her tail and it was ruffled and messy.

“Twilight?” Spike turned around to start running. The beast smirked as it pounced on Spike and they rolled several feet before crashing into the wall right next to the staircase that lead up to Twilight’s room. The beast smirked at him as Spike finally opened his eyes to get a good look at the beast.

“We are not Twilight Sparkle,” the beast told Spike. “We are the dark power that consumed Princess Luna when she became Nightmare Moon. After Twilight Sparkle and the other Elements of Harmony defeated us, we had nowhere to go, so we hid in Twilight’s body, and waited for the right time to reveal ourselves. Sadly we can only stay in this form during the night. That was the same way with Nightmare Moon as well.”

Tears began to form in Spike eyes as the beast began to reveal its razor sharp teeth. “Please! Give us back our Twilight and leave her alone!”

“We’ll give her back as soon as Princess Luna is dead. When we saw her for the first time a couple days ago, we got excited and caused Twilight to go into that coma,” the beast began to laugh.

Spike wanted to fight back but he knew he couldn’t. “You realize she and I spent the night with Twilight that first night?”

The beast looked at him very surprised. “What? When we awoke in Twilight’s body that first night, she wasn’t there, only you! We saw a second sleeping bag next to you but we assumed it was one of Twilight’s stupid friends.”

“Well, that was Luna’s sleeping bag, you must have missed her when she went to the bathroom or something,” Spike began to chuckle to himself.

The beast stomped its hoof on the ground. “Dang it! Where is Luna staying right now?”

Spike shrugged. “I don’t know.”

The beast got up right his face. “Tell us! Or we’ll kill you!”

“Fine, kill me, but know that Twilight will get her body back, you fiend!” Spike was prepared for the worst.

The beast smiled as it drove its fangs into Spike’s face. It grabbed hold of a scale and started to tear it right off. Some dragon’s scales are inter-connected and Spike was unlucky to be one of those types of dragons so not only was he getting one scale ripped off, he was getting all the scales on his face ripped off.

The beast pressed its hoof against Spike’s mouth to refrain him from screaming and alerting any guards as she continued to rip all the scales on his face off. It was very painful for Spike, like having your skin set on fire. And the pain was only doubled due to his young age.

The beast spat out the long chain of scales next to it and looked back at Spike’s red pulsating face. The beast then looked down at his neck, Spike knew what it was going to do so he covered it up quickly.

This attempted to stop the beast at eating this throat was futile as she ripped both Spike’s arms off with its magic at the blink of an eye. Spike’s youth and lack of body development made this job a snap. The two stubs where Spike’s arms use to be bled like a fountain.

Before Spike could unleash a horrific yell, the beast drove it’s fangs into Spike’s throat, ripping out his windpipe and vocal cords along with it. Spike already losing so much blood and the amount of shock he was going through fainted right there on the spot.

The beast got up and licked her lips clean of any blood. “Not going to make the same mistake as last time, should have cleaned her mouth before the night ended.”

With Spike out of the way the beast walked over to a window. The beast saw at least eight guards walking around outside of the library. The beast’s first target was Flash Sentry, so it needed to track him down fast.

The beast teleported to the top of a building that wasn’t too far from the city hall. To its surprising luck, she found Flash Sentry and one of the officers walking into a dark alley. The beast squeal in excitement as she tracked him as he went around to behind the building, almost completely out of sight of the rest of the officers.

“I’m not going to lie Flash, I’m pretty scared,” the officer said while he was looking around from left to right.

Flash rolled his eyes. “That’s why I’m going with you, come on man, you’ll be fine,” Flash smiled at him.

“Thanks man, you’ve always been a good friend,” the officer said as he continued looking from left to right.

Now was a perfect time to pounce on them for they were out of sight of any officers who may pass by the entrances into the alleyway. The beast jumped down at the regular officer first, driving its horn into the back of his neck. Her horn penetrated the jugular vein, his spinal cord, and his windpipe.

The beast having monstrous reflexes, quickly took out her horn and pinned Flash against the building wall with its hooves.

“Wh-what, wait, you’re the-” Flash was cut off by the beast.

“The wolf that killed that stupid pegasus and her foal? Yes that’s us,” the beast smirked at him.

Flash looked at the beast confused. “Why are you saying ‘we’ when there’s only one of you?”

“That doesn’t matter right now, what matters now is that you and the rest of the officers here are going to pass, and you’re only the fourth! And note this Flash Sentry, we will kill you all, even if we have to do it one pony at a time!” the beast laughed as she opened her mouth exposing her razor sharp teeth.

“Please don’t kill-” Flash was cut off by the fangs of the beast being driven into his neck. On the bright side, he no longer had to drench in the sorrow of not making Captain of the Royal Guard anymore. In fact, he didn’t have to worry about anything, ever again.

~

Princess Luna woke up and took a peek outside at the morning sky. She had slept in a private room in the city hall so it was like she was sleeping outside or something.

Luna was glad she didn’t have to worry about raising the moon at night during her time at Ponyville, especially with everything going on right now. However she did wake up rather early this morning.

Right before Luna stepped outside she had a feeling like something terrible happened, but she couldn’t put her hoof on it. Ignoring the feeling, she just stepped outside anyway.

When she stepped outside she almost vomited at the sight she was seeing. Right in front of the Ponyville city hall were roughly about ten dead officers were their spinal cord hanging out of their necks.

Luna didn’t know what to do, so she ran to Twilight’s house being that she didn’t know where Doctor Whooves lived. When Luna tried to open the door, she was stopped by weeping coming from inside.

“Twilight! Are you in there?” Luna called out. Luna was getting worried extremely fast. Not only where there about twenty dead bodies all around Ponyville, but something might have happened to Twilight.

Twilight opened the door with her magic and Luna ran in to see if she was crying or not, and sure enough, she was. However, she had Spike, armless, faceless, and lifeless in her hooves.

Luna almost went into shock from the sight. Tears began to form in her eyes as she walked over and knelt down to Twilight’s eye level as she gazed at Spike in her hooves. His face was still bleeding slightly, but not very much.

“I-I don’t know what happen,” Twilight said through rough tears. “I woke up, and I came downstairs to see this, what happened?”

Luna stood up putting all the puzzle pieces together. “I think it might be the wolf.”

Twilight looked up at Luna. “But how? The wolf didn’t touch me!”

“This is a real head scratcher Twilight,” Luna said with a concern look. “First we have all those officers out there slaughtered, now we have this. Could it be there’s more than one wolf?”

“That doesn’t explain how the wolves didn’t touch me last night,” Twilight looked back down at Spike’s body and continued to cry over him.

“Well maybe Spike for some reason wandered outside and got caught in the wolf slaughter, and they dragged him back in here for some reason,” Luna knew that wasn’t a good reason being that the wolves failed to hide all the bodies outside.

Twilight carefully set Spike’s body down and got up. “Well, let’s go see what damage the wolves have done to this place.”

Luna got in front of Twilight. “Yeah, I don’t think that’s a good idea.”

Twilight gave Luna an evil look. “Luna.”

Luna was intimidated by that stare. This is nothing she had seen of Twilight, sure Spike was dead but still. It was almost, unnatural. Luna graciously stepped out of the way as Twilight walked over and pushed the door all the way open. After seeing Spike and the bloody mess all around him, Twilight fainted at the sight of seeing it ten to fifteen more times.

Luna walked over to Twilight who was passed out on the floor and then looked at all the bodies as ponies started to come out of their house and look at all of them in horror as they ran back into their house.

Grabbing a piece of paper and a quill, Luna wrote a message to her sister to send down the entire royal guard. Explaining what’s happening as well, she said that she’ll be watching over the night tonight, this wolf or these wolves must die.

Celestia replied to her that that was a completely horrendous idea but Luna did give a crap. Luna wanted the entire elite royal guard down here, this is obviously no ordinary wolf they’re dealing with.

Still thinking this was completely stupid idea, Celestia complied with Luna and sent down the elite royal guard as well as a cleanup team to take care of the bodies.

Twilight woke up not too long after Luna got the confirmation letter to bring down the royal guard and she was confused and still upset. “Luna, what’s going on?”

“I’m watching over the night tonight Twilight,” Luna looked determine.

Hearing that, Twilight quickly rushed to her hooves. However she started to feel dizzy from doing too fast and having the image of all those dead officers and Spike still in her head. “What are you thinking? You’re going to get yourself killed!”

Luna shook her head. “I’m pretty sure I can handle whatever being awaits me in the dark. I’ll be fine Twilight trust me!”

Twilight sighed. “Well, at least let me guard the night with you.”

“No Twilight, it is far too dangerous.” Luna said. “I also think you’re the wolf,” Luna thought to herself.

Twilight thought to herself for a brief moment and conceded. “Fine, but if you need any help, don’t hesitate to wake me up okay?” Twilight smiled.

Luna smiled back. “Okay Twilight thank you. Now if you excuse me I have to go reassure the town, I’m guessing you’re not coming with me?”

Twilight turned around. “Sorry, I don’t want to look at all those bodies out there, plus I have my own funeral to attend,” Twilight looked down at Spike’s lifeless body.

Luna nodded. “I understand, well, I’ll come get you if I find anything else. Bye, bye Twilight!” Luna waved as she walked out the door.

Twilight turned around and waved back. “Bye Luna!”

Luna walked out the door and towards the city hall. The cleanup crew had already arrived and was cleaning up the dead bodies and blood all over the town. Twilight upstairs to find something that she could put Spike’s body in to bury him outback.

“Luna seemed really aggravated at me specifically while she was visiting me. Does she not trust me or something? I hope that’s not the case,” Twilight had an unsure look on her face.

The entire town gathered at the city hall as the last of the bodies and blood were cleaned up. There was no sight of Mayor Mare, probably too scared to show her face. The current captain of the royal guard Shining Armor was at the city hall reassuring everypony that everything was going to be just fine.

As expected, nopony was listening to him. They were too scared that an entire armada of trained officers were slaughtered last night by one, maybe even many wolves last night. Luna then walked up next to Shining Armor then pulled him aside for a brief moment.

“Where’s my sister?” Shining Armor asked. “I need to protect her from the supposed wolves tonight.”

Luna was still convinced that Twilight was the wolf. But she understood his plead to see his sister but she still needed him around. “You can go see you sister later Shining Armor. Right now we need to focus on making sure the crowd is settled. I know this was your week off but being that Flash Sentry is dead we need you down here.”

Shining Armor looked around Luna so he could see Twilight’s house. “I know, but I need to go see my sister right now. And you should have called me down here first rather than Flash Sentry.”

Luna looked at him like he was some kind of idiot. “If we had sent you down here instead of Flash Sentry, then you would have died and Twilight would be in a greater range than she is right now.”

Shining Armor looked at her confused. “Wait, she’s upset right now? What happened?” Shining Armor was more inclined to go see his sister, but he knew that would result in an immediate strip of his title.

With slight hesitation, Luna answered him. “Spike is dead. Somehow the wolf managed to get ahold of Spike and it ripped him up.”

Shining Armor almost fainted on the spot. He had loved Spike and only to hear that he is now dead was truly deceiving. He was speechless, other than the fact that he now knows that this wolf or wolves must be stopped. He looked Luna in the eye with great determination. “This wolf needs to be stopped.”

Luna didn’t have the heart to tell him that his sister might have been the wolf, but that didn’t stop her from thinking that she was. Nodding at him, Luna walked over to the podium that rested at the end of the stage and spoke to the crowd and the guards standing behind the crowd.

“Everypony calm down please!” Luna announced. Everypony in the crowd instantly stopped talking.

“We understand you’re afraid, scared, but now we have much better protection. We have behind you the Canterlot royal guard and our Captain of the Royal Guard. The officers that were guarding us last night unfortunately didn’t stand a chance against the wolf or wolves last night. But we assure you, tonight you will be safe,” Luna said. She wasn’t sure if she should believe herself or not.

One of the ponies in the crowd spoke up. “And why should we believe you?”

Luna smirked. “Because I’m staying up tonight to look over Ponyville.”

Just about everypony in the crowd gasped at that statement. Even some of the royal guard members behind the crowd had horrifying looks on their faces.

“You may think I’m stupid, idiotic, and many things. And for all I know I might be! But I’m doing for the soul purpose that to make sure that everypony sleeps tonight knowing that Ponyville is in good hooves. If it gets really bad of course I can call my sister down here to help. All I want everypony to do tonight is to go to sleep soundly tonight. I promise everything will be okay,” Luna smiled as the crowd began to start cheering one by one.

“I hope I don’t regret what I just said,” Luna thought as she backed away from the stage and Shining Armor took her place.

“Ponies of Ponyville, I promise you that I and my royal guard will make sure Ponyville is safe for all that live within these walls. Please go about your days like you normally would. We will try to stay out of your way throughout the day. However expect some questions from one of us basically asking ‘do you know anything about the attack?’ Other than that, we will try our best to stay out of all of you all’s ways.

“We will be stationed at random points all around Ponyville and if we do get in your way, don’t hesitate to tell us to back off. Now please, have a great rest of you day,” Shining Armor exclaimed as he walked away from the crowd.

Some of the crowd cheered and some were dead silent. Too scared to say anything, they just walked off. Shining Armor walked off the stage and over to where Luna was hanging out, eager to go see his sister.

“Princess Luna,” Shining Armor said in a calm but eager voice. “May I go see my sister now?”

Luna looked up at the sun. Judging by its position it was probably around noon. Luna looked at him and nodded but she did have one thing to say. “Be back here at seven Shining Armor, no exceptions.”

Shining Armor nodded as he looked around for where Twilight lived. “Um, where exactly does Twilight live?” he said as he giggled with slight embarrassment.

Luna chuckled as she pointed towards her treehouse. Shining Armor nodded as he rushed towards her house. Luna did a half smiled at him as he flew off to appoint the royal guards to their designated positions.

After running for roughly five minutes and feeling exhausted in his royal armour, Shining Armor finally reached Twilight’s house. He knocked a couple times on the door and waited for Twilight.

Twilight opened the door within mere seconds and hugged him. “Shining Armor,” Twilight said through tears. “Spike is dead, and I don’t want to lose you tonight. Please don’t guard the night tonight. I’m already afraid for Princess Luna.”

Shining Armor hugged her back as his own tears started to form. “I’m sorry Twilight. But I have to perform my royal duty. I promise I’ll be fine tonight, don’t you worry about me.”

Twilight still having her hooves wrapped around his neck looked at him. “Can I guard the night with you?”

Shining Armor shook his head. “I’m afraid not. You’re too valuable to lose Twilight. If I go, I want someone to take over for me as Captain of the Royal Guard. I know it seems like an overwhelming request, but if I pass tonight, will you take the roll for me?”

Lost in her thoughts, Twilight unwrapped her hooves from him and looked him in the eye. “I will gladly do so Shining Armor,” Twilight told her brother as more tears ran down her eyes.

Shining Armor smiled as he kissed his sister’s cheek. “I love you Twily, nothing will change that.”

“I know Shining Armor,” Twilight smiled through tears. “Spike’s gravesite is outback, want to go pay our dedication?”

“Certainly,” Shining Armor said as he followed his sister out to the back of the treehouse.

Nightfall arose as Shining Armor waved goodbye to his sister and returned to the city hall. He saw all the guards stationed on top of roofs and on the ground. They saluted him as he passed by him.

Princess Luna was waiting at the city hall for him. Thankfully he arrived just in time to prepare for whatever happened tonight.

“Ah Shining Armor, are you ready for whatever hell awaits us tonight?” Luna said looking at the moon as it rose in the south.

Shining Armor got up on the stage and stood right next to Luna. “As ready as I’ll ever be,” they both watched the moon rise higher and higher in the sky.

“For all we know this could possibly our last night together Shining Armor,” Luna said with a slight shiver down her back.

“May very well be Luna,” Shining Armor had a face of determination. “But I assure you, we will get through whatever hell awaits us tonight. And we will live to tell everypony that we are the first, to slay an actual wolf.”

Chapter IV: The Wolf Mare

View Online

Princess Luna and Shining Armor looked at the moon as it fell upon them. They knew these next few hours might be uneventful but they were still going to wait out the entire night if they had too.

The royal guards were patrolling around Ponyville silently so they didn’t disturb any of the sleeping ponies. Shining Armor was slightly shaking in his royal purple armour, nervous as heck on what this wolf actually looks like and what powers it may possess.

“Princess L-Luna,” Shining Armor said still slightly shaking in his boots.

Luna looked over at him. Unlike Shining Armor himself, Luna was standing there as still as a stone wall. “Yes Shining Armor?”

“I’m not going to lie, I’m slightly nervous about this supposed wolf. And what if this wolf goes after Twily?” Shining Armor was still looking straight ahead.

Luna sighed in slight announce as she looked straight ahead again. “I put two guards right next to Twilight’s library just for you Shining Armor. If anything they’ll flash the designated signal for reinforcements to arrive over there. So don’t worry, she’s in good hooves.”

Shining Armor stopped shaking at what Luna just told him. “Thanks for the reassurance Luna, it’s just kind of scary you know?”

Luna nodded. “I understand completely.”

Both looked sight ahead as the moon rose higher and higher overhead. The bell tower right by the school rung indicating twelve in the morning. Luna got more serious now knowing this because this may very well be the time in which the wolf finally reveal itself.

Roughly half an hour past after striking midnight and nothing happened, but that was about to change.

Shining Armor saw something flash out of the corner of his eye, he turned his head to get a full view of what it was. The distress beacon was going off right outside Twilight’s house.

Luna and Shining Armor along with five other guards rushed as fast as they could over to where the beacon was to see what was going on.

The beacon shortly died not too long after they started dashing towards Twilight’s house so they knew right off the back something was wrong.

Once they got there, the guards that were supposed to be guarding Twilight’s house, were gone. Luna, Shining Armor, and the five other guards started to look around the area to see if they could find the lost guards, before marching into Twilight’s house.

“This is bad,” Shining Armor said as he met up with Luna again in front of Twilight’s house.

“Tell me about it,” Luna said as she looked at Twilight’s door which was closed. “Do you think maybe they went inside to see if anything might be wrong with Twilight?”

Shining Armor studied Twilight’s door. “I suppose it’s possible, why don’t we go in and see, shall we?”

“Let’s,” Luna said as she pushed open Twilight’s door with her magic.

Luna told the five guards to wait outside just in case something were to happen and they needed some sort of protection from the outside.

They walked in and found it was completely dark. Shining Armor looked around and saw a multiple candles across from them. Shining Armor shot all of them with a quick beam of magic to light them all up to illuminate the room.

Once the room was finally illuminated, they proceed to start searching around for Twilight.

The first thing Shining Armor does it quickly run upstairs to see if she’s in her room. Luna watches him run upstairs and stays downstairs to see if she could possible find something worth mentioning.

Once Shining Armor finally reached upstairs, he soon found out that his sister was missing. His horn illuminated the entire room as he started to freak out and look around to find something, anything that he could use to help him find his sister.

After about five minutes of looking, the search was found futile and Shining Armor ran downstairs to try to get Luna’s support.

Thankfully Luna was still looking through some of Twilight’s books as he ran downstairs to try to get Luna’s attention.

“Princess Luna!” Shining Armor called out having tears in his eyes. “Twilight’s missing!”

Luna looked wide-eyed at him. “What? We must find here! She must be around here somewhere!”

Just then, a mysterious voice called out from above. “Right above you.”

Both of them looked at each other before looking up at the ceiling. Attached to the ceiling black figure with sharp teeth, and purple catlike eyes.

“Hello Shining Armor, and you Luna,” the beat said before jumping down in front of Luna. “We have a score to settle.”

The beast jumped on Luna and lunged at her neck. Shining Armor having quick reflexes shot the beast off Luna and pinned it to the wall with his magic.

He ran up to the beast who was smiling evilly, he had tears in his eyes are he could barely think of words to say. “Wh-who are you and w-what have you done w-with my sister?”

The beast laughed. “Oh your sister is gone, she’s only with you during the day! During the night however, it’s all us.”

“What in Tartarus are you?” Shining Armor yelled getting closer to the beast’s face.

“You see Shining Armor, after Nightmare Moon over there was defeated,” the beast glanced at Luna, “the dark power within her had nowhere to go so we invaded Twilight Sparkle’s body.

“We’ve been resting in here for a couple days, getting our strength back. And once we saw Luna walk into Twilight’s house, we knew that was the perfect time to strike. We got really excited which caused neural seizures to go to Twilight’s brain which caused that coma a couple of days ago.

“Now as you should know we can only take a host during the night, that’s another reason why Nightmare Moon wanted to inflict eternal night, so she could have that power forever. So we can only ravage over Twilight during the night. And the best part is, she won’t remember a thing!”

Shining Armor got in the beast’s face. “GET OUT OF MY SISTER WHATEVER YOU ARE!”

“Sorry to say ‘brother’, but that isn’t possible! You see, since Luna is an alicorn, she possesses why more magic than a stupid unicorn! So, it was much easier to merge with her magic, and now we can be separated, not even with the elements of harmony! The only way to get us out of her, is to kill her!”

Luna stepped up. “Shining Armor.”

Shining Armor threw Twilight to the other side of the room. She hit the wall and fell down on one of the candlesticks. She was able to react in time and quickly get off and put the fire out on her fur in time.

“Oh you’ve asked for it Shining Armor,” Twilight said before picking up Shining Armor with her magic. “Prepare to see your spine outside your-”

Twilight was quickly cut off by Luna ramming her in the side horn-first. Luna was able to penetrate her skin and drive her horn into Twilight’s side a couple of inches before Twilight flew right into the adjacent wall.

Twilight fell down and found it hard to get back up. Her side hurt like heck and she was losing badly. There’s something Luna was doing to drain her magic because Twilight couldn’t use her dreadful magic like she originally could on Flash Sentry and all the other officers.

“I think it’s time to put her in her place,” Luna said before grabbing Twilight with her magic and slamming her down on the floor in front of her.

“Gladly,” Shining Armor said as he was preparing to end Twilight. Right before he shot the magic bolt, something hit him, this was his sister. The sister that he loved so much, cared for, help raise, about to end her.

He remember waking up to his sister and her calling him is ‘B.B.B.F.F.’. It was the most adorable thing he has ever heard and he missed it more than anything when he found out that Twilight had moved away from Canterlot.

His horn began to dim as a tear fell down his cheek. “I-I can’t do it,” Shining Armor said as he looked away.

Twilight grinned at this and shot Shining Armor with a bolt of magic. It could have been powerful enough to blow his head clean off but she wasn’t at her full strength.

Shining Armor flew back and hit the wall next to the door. The guards outside heard this and peeked in. Twilight was just about to lung at all of them when she felt a sharp pain in her side again.

She looked over and saw that Luna had conjured a sword and stabbed it right into Twilight’s side. “It’s over,” were the only words that Luna could think of.

Twilight’s vision became blurring as Luna made the sword disappear, the support of the sword was the only thing keeping Twilight up so she fell right onto the ground.

“NOOOOOO,” the beast said as a dark mist flown out of Twilight’s eyes and mouth and disappeared into nowhere.

“That’s the end of that,” Luna looked up and said as she walked over to Twilight’s body as it began to turn back to normal.

Shining Armor got up and quickly ran over to his sister who was lying on the floor, barely breathing.

Twilight had the strength to look back up at her brother say a couple words to him. “Sh-Shining Armor, how-how could you?” Twilight could barely get out the words before her head fell on the floor, and her eyes began to slowly shut, indicating that she has passed away.

“I’m-I’m sorry Twilight,” Shining Armor said as he got up from his sister’s body and looked at Luna. He knew this was the only thing to do so he wasn’t mad at her. There was no escaping this, her death was inevitable. However he just wish he didn’t have to view it.

“Princess Luna, what, what do we do know?” he said with tears and his eyes and looking down at his dead sister.

Princess Luna also shaking tears from her eyes looked up at him. “I, I don’t know. Her friends are going to be upset once they find out what happened to Twilight. I think we should go to Canterlot and inform Celestia of this tragedy.”

Shining Armor nodded. “I think that’s the best idea. Well, we can’t just leave her here after all.” Shining Armor couldn’t take his eyes off his sister’s body.

One of the soldiers from outside stepped up. “We can guard the house while y’all are away.”

Luna looked over at him. “That would be nice, thank you.”

Luna and Shining Armor wiped their tears as they walked outside. Thankfully it wasn’t morning yet so everypony was still asleep. Which was the perfect time to head to Canterlot Castle.

“We will make sure nopony gets into the library Princess,” the same guard called out.

“Thank you soldier,” Luna said before both Shining Armor and herself vanished with the help of Luna’s teleportation spell.

Luna and Shining Armor appeared in front of Celestia’s chamber doors. They knew this wasn’t going to be easy and Shining Armor knew right off the back he wasn’t going to be the one telling Celestia.

Luna knocked on the door a couple of times and waited for her sister to come out.

They weren’t waiting for very long before Celestia opened her chamber doors and embraced Luna. “Luna! I’m so glad you’re okay! Were you able to save Twilight?” After inspecting Luna’s and Shining Armor’s eyes, she knew right off the back the answer wasn’t going to be good.

“We were able to save her,” Shining Armor said, Luna looked at him with a surprised look. “However it was at the cost of her life.”

Celestia’s jaw fell open. “Sh-she’s, dead?”

Luna looking down at the grown and sobbing nodded. “There was a dark magic connected to Twilight’s magic and the only way to liberate her from it, was to kill her. There was simply no other way.”

Celestia closed her eyes for a moment before opening them again. “I understand. You did what you had to do.”

Shining Armor looked up at Celestia. “What are we going to do now? It’s not really going to be that easy going out and saying that Twilight’s dead after all.”

Celestia nodded as she started to walk down beside Luna and Shining Armor. “I know Shining Armor, but to be honest, I’m not quite sure.” Celestia stepped out of her chamber as Luna and Shining Armor followed closely behind her.

They followed Celestia all the way out to the same balcony that over watches Ponyville and Cloudsdale. She sat there thinking silently to herself while Shining Armor and Luna stood behind her anxiously waiting for her to think of something.

“I think the only option we got is to just spill the beans,” Celestia finally admitted.

Luna and Shining Armor both looked at each other. “Are you sure? It may cause many riots sister.”

Celestia turned back around to face them. “Oh I know, but what other choice do we have, honestly?”

Shining Armor and Luna looked at each other again before looking back at Celestia. “I guess we really don’t have any other choice,” Shining Armor said as he wiped a tear from his eye.

“Exactly. I wish there was another way of doing this Shining Armor, but I’m afraid there really isn’t,” Celestia turned back around as she raised the sun for dawn.

Luna walked up next to her as she lowered the moon to make way for the sun.

“Are you sure there isn’t any other way?” Luna asked looking up at her sister.

Celestia didn’t break her stare at Ponyville. “I’m afraid not.”
