Equuis home planet of Equestria has invented warp drive and is now a member of the Federation of Planets.
Another in my anthros in space collection. After living over a thousand years the mane 6 are asked by Celestia to join Star Fleet. This is their story as they venture among the stars. Takes place after season 4 show followed original timeline only everyone was an anthro. Need a better cover pic if anyone find Anthro mane 6 in star fleet uniforms pic please let me know.
Terms: Herds: A group usually consistant of 4 to 10 ponies which are close couples who form a bond through a magic ritual. The bond allows for a emphatic and even telepathic link between the members. Herds can be broken only through another ritual or death of members of the herd leaving only one alive. Pseudo Herd: Children of a herd members have a emphatic link only till the child gains a cutie mark. They then look for their own herd taking their time to make friends and loves. Golden Herd: A title given to a herd that contains a member of the royal family.
Peace settled in Equestria after the defeat of Tirek by the Counsel of Friendship. Sure there were a few problems all over Equuis here and there but nothing the royal guard couldn't handle. No longer did the mane 6 have to stick their necks out in life or death struggles to save the world. Time had passed and the mane 6 while still friends had went off and found themselves mates and started their own herds.
Pinkie Pie had ended up in a relationship with Cheese Sandwich for a short time, but the other party pony never remained around Ponyville and Pinkie didn't want to leave her home. After that had sputtered out Pinkie had decided to remain single and started a herd with the cake twins as an older sister/aunt figure as their mates had joined herd Laughter.
Fluttershy also remained in Ponyville and ended up marrying Big Mac having him move in with her in the cottage. This was not a issue as as Sweet Apple Acres was not to far from the small cozy home. The two had 2 foals a pegasus filly named Gossamer Sky who was a soft red nearly rose colored coat with her mother's pink mane and tail. An earth colt Applebuck who had Fluttershy's buttercup colored coat red mane and tail making him look a lot like his aunt Applebloom. Instead of creating her own herd like Pinkie Fluttershy had joined Applejacks herd Honesty.
Applejack had ended up with Caramel both living on Sweet Apple Acres together. They had only a single filly earth pony named Pacific Rose who had a bright red coat and brown mane and tail.
Rainbow Dash had finally made the Wanderbolts and had been forced to leave Ponyville since the airial team was based out of Cloudsdale. After 5 years and making quite a name for herself Dash finally settled down with Soarin and have 3 children of their own one set of triplets. They were all pegasus of course all three fillies named Rainbow Prism who had pretty much been a duplicate of her mother in appearance but seemed to act more like Fluttershy without the weak flying ability much to Dash's amusement. Solar Streak who was a bright orange almost yellow color and yellow mane and tail. Sky Dash was the last of the triplets and the only one who seemed to act brash and proud like her mother though like Prism took after her mom in colors Sky took after her father in appearance looking like a little female Soarin. She has started the herd Loyalty with her husband, Spitfire and her lover Fleetfoot.
Rarity had made it moving to Canterlot and becoming what could be called the Equuis' number 1 designer. Her fashion was sold all over the world and had lines for nearly every species as the races has started to discovered modesty toward the curves that females had and gave birth to cutie mark patches so that they could display their mark even with the clothing on. She eventually settled down with surprisingly Hoity Toity and had but a single filly named Diamond Sparkle a marshmallow colored coat with shimmering silvery mane and tail. She had started the herd Generosity with Fancy Pants and Fluer.
Twilight never really got her happy ending but was able to get through her hard times thanks to her friends, her brother and sister-in-law. She had started to see Flash Sentry even started to plan a life with him until she learned the truth. After catching Flash in a fling when she surprised him at home with a visiting mare, she learned he never really loved her and was using her for her position. Flash was removed from duty and basically black listed when the news got out and the fool ended up a homeless beggar in Manehatten. Twilight had found out a few weeks after his dismissal that she was pregnant with his foal. With the help of Fluttershy and Pinkie she raised the lavender unicorn filly with the light blue mane and tail named Starlight Sparkle. She unlike the others never joined a herd instead raised her daughter and plunged herself into being even better at magic and being a better leader to the people.
Spike moved on after Rarity married deciding to go to the dragon lands to try to help his kind which had begun to drop in numbers over the years due to their own savagery. Twilight received mail regularly from him and was even happy to hear that he had meet a female dragon his own age. His letters continued to tell how he and his new lover Saphira a pretty blue colored dragoness eventually settled in together becoming true mates. He even with Saphira's blessing named his first daughter after his mother/sister figure.
Time passed and the mates of the married members of the mane 6 began to grow old, then the children began to age looking older then their mothers whom had remained the same age as the day of the Tirek attack. When their children started to get wrinkles and yet they were still young and beautiful the six headed to Canterlot to see Celestia to find out why.
"My little ponies, I am sorry to tell you that it would seem you are all immortal. I was hoping it wouldn't have happened like it did with us," Celestia said with a heavy heart as she sat on her throne her sister seated next to her.
"You mean you knew there was a possibility that this would be possible, and you never told us," Twilight hollered out in a bit of anger.
"I didn't want you to worry needlessly if it was not the case," She sighed and with a golden aura levitated chairs in for the girls. "Please take a seat and I will tell you what happened."
The six sat back on the chair and listened still showing aggravation in their eyes.
"Luna and I are immortal, you know this right? Why do you think we are immortal," she asked them.
"You were both born natural alicorns," said Twilight with a slightly questioning manner.
"Heh heh, no and there has never been a natural alicorn, it is a something that happens through some method or another like you completing that spell, Twilight. No we were both born unicorns and when we went to seek the tree of harmony to use the elements against Discord. When we were able to get the try to let us use them our cutie marks appeared upon the tree and we vanished being reborn as alicorns. We also became the physical embodiment of the sun and the moon, you and Cadence do became alicorns through two other methods. No, alicorns do have a longer lifespan then your average pony but are not immortal," sighing as she rubbed her eyes.
"When you returned the elements to the tree we thought it might be a possibility but you were never reborn and normal bodies can not handle immortality so we weren't really sure it affected you on that level. Really when you did you were not immortal then yet, you actually became immortal when you opened the box and defeated Tirek. It was at we heard that you all vanished into a ball of light and were reformed in your rainbow powered forms. I wasn't fully sure then but I am now, when you vanished an reappeared you had changed becoming the embodiment of your elements. As long as those elements exist in this universe so shall you," tears now ran down her muzzle as she felt guilt rise in her.
The 6 sat their tears also rolling down their eyes, they would have to bury their grandchildren and following descendants for generations to come. The 6 decided to go home and spend as much time with their herds as they could and when the time came they would return to Twilight's palace and figure out where to go from there.
The girls had taken to comforting one another best they could, Twilight feeling the least loss her never joining a herd did not feel the emphatic void that came with the dead of the herd and was only dreading the death of her daughter. Twilight over time would come to the bed of Rarity at night as she screamed at her loss and cuddle her giving her a friendly shoulder to cry into and was given the same when Starlight had passed making Twilight bury her only daughter.
After the loss of their children the mares locked themselves away in the castle no longer venturing out into the growing Ponyville for a very long time.
With each of their children passing on, the girls started to lock themselves away in the castle keeping close to each other to help bring comfort. When one of any of the girls children died they all stayed together in Twilight's room clinging to each other to help them sleep and usual would be there for about a week. Though as the last child died going off to a place where they could never follow, they started to break off sleeping in their rooms again. Though most nights they still need another pony to help stave off the crippling loneliness that kept them up at night.
In some cases like Rarity who had practically moved into Twilight's room, the alicorn's comfort seemed to help more then the others to her. She and Twilight as the years had gone on had grown a closer friendship then with the others. With Rarity living in Canterlot away from the group she didn't see most of them as often as she wished she could, but Twilight who had her royal duties still had to make regular trips to the capital for meetings with the royal court. Every time she came she would spend her free time with Rarity hanging out at Rarities fashion studio and having dinner with the white unicorn's herd. Now that her herd was gone it was Twilight whom she was closest to that filled even a little of that gap, the larger softer royal bed that was in the room didn't hurt either.
The others had seemed to be the same with another. Applejack for instance spent many nights in Rainbow's room, the two finding a closer comfort in each other. The two had been closer then the other Rainbow coming home to Ponyville on occasion for some of the many many celebrations would stay at Sweet Apple Acres. Their friendly rivalry never ended either as one event she never missed was the running of the leaves where the two could always hold their friendly competition. After they would race one another they would usually go out and hit a bar where the two would drank laughing and joking about the event and about life in particular, before going home to the farm wasted.
Pinkie Pie and Fluttershy's closeness was different from the others. While since both were living in Ponyville all this time Fluttershy was closer to Applejack as they were once sisters-in-law. But Pinkie's up beat personality personality even the hard times for her after the Cake twins passed on helped Fluttershy making her happy to see and offsetting the sadness that she felt for the loss of her family. In turn Fluttershy's calm gentle personality was there when Pinkie would go overboard trying to overcome the pain she felt by being happy and upbeat, the kind pegasus would held her tightly on nights when the grief would break even the pink ones happiness.
The six had lived this way for around 20 years only mingling with the world outside their tight clique during the palaces court that was held four times a week where the six would attempt to help other out with problems through wisdom that came with living a longer then normal life. They would spend some of their evenings dinning on the balcony over looking the village which had seemed to double in size since their days of being normal citizens.
After the two decades they had finally moved on, though they would always hold that time in their hearts they felt they needed to live for the sake of each other and all of Equestria. They finally came to a decision and it was that evening on the 20th anniversary of the death of Starlight the six had gathered in the round table throne room standing over the star in the center with hands held out and the palms of their right hands facing out to form a circle in the center of them.
"Ancient forces of Equuis and pony kind hear us. Fill our hearts with the hearts of each other and bind our happiness and sadness to one another," Twilight began her eyes closed along with the others focusing her magic down her hand forming a mana construct of her cutie mark in front of it. The others cutie marks floated out in front of their respective hands.
"I give myself to the herd and I bring to it my knowledge and magic," she spoke her voice changing as magic filled it making her words a contract to the universe.
"I give myself to the herd and bring to it my creativity and generosity," added Rarity next her voice like Twilight's adding power to it.
"I give myself to the herd and bring to it my speed and loyalty," Rainbow continued in the magical tone.
"Ah give myself to tha herd and bring to it mah strength and honesty," with her usual draw Applejack joined the others.
"I give myself to the herd and bring to it my spirit and laughter," Pinkie continued with a happy tone
"I give myself to the herd and bring to it my gentleness and kindness," finished Fluttershy in her usually soft tone the magic still making it ring out.
"With our will and love we become a herd all as one forever in each others hearts," they finished together as the cutie mark constructs began to whirl in a circle slowly blurring until the magic of them forms a rainbow colored sphere in their place. Each of the six opened their eyes in a single motion to show their glowing white eyes and the sphere started to shrink the rainbow light reentering the hand held out toward it.
"We are now one with the others and so give birth to the herd, HARMONY, " they finished as the magic vanished from the area. They each heard the others voices and felt what the others were feeling slowly start to appear in their minds and their hearts.
After the ritual had ended the Twilight sent out the paperwork legally announcing the creation of the new golden heard much to the joy of the people who saw this as a sign the great mares that had done so much for their world would finally find happiness with each other and no longer feel the loss.
With loneliness leaving them finally, the empty space their lost herd had left as a void was finally filled again, they set out on personal prodjects to once again to try to make the world a better place.
Twilight had started a new university just on the outskirts of Ponyville. The Equestrian University of Science and Magic, started out a small school bringing only the best and brightest. Over time though the school had grown to include other subjects with the help of her friends. Rarity worked with other artists to help create the school of art and design to the university which had in the coming centuries had given rise to some of Equuis' greatest painters, sculptors and even architects. The school had also spurned the school of dance and music which with its sister school would grow Equestrian culture for the years to come. Applejack with the help of other farmers had helped give birth to the school of agriculture and the school of business thus helping to raise food productivity and grow the economy. Fluttershy helped create the school of medicine which would grant a better health care system all over Equuis with bringing in more physicians, psychologist and veterinarians. Pinkie surprisingly created the school of engineering separating it from science and was one of the key individuals who with a your protege gave birth to rocket science. Rainbow had pushed to create an athletics department which had been copied by other universities the world over in time giving birth to college sports.
Rarity started one of four of the largest charities on all of Equuis with the other three created by her fellow herd members. She had created Fashion for the Less Fortunate, which had gathered clothing through local drives and independent donations to sell or give away. The ones that were sold through stores all over Equestria were used to gather money from the sales keeping only a small crew for sales and volunteers to stock would start gaining enough money to help the homeless in other ways.
Applejack after looking into Sweet Apple Acres which she had given to her's and Fluttershy's descendants to see how the farm had grown in the last few decades, started her own charity. Like Rarity's, her's had also become of of the biggest and most important in Equuis. With the schools she helped create and the university food was cheap and plentiful in Equestria meaning no one went hungry in the country, started pushing for donations from the more fortunate. This food would be taken to more famine filled regions of the world to make sure no one went hungry not just in her own country but the whole world as well. They would also bring in supplies to any area there tragedies had occurred.
Pinkie Pie, who saw that with the growth of the food industry no one went hungry but so many of the less fortunate children never got toys or got to have parties for their special days like birthdays. She started putting out boxes in toy stories at first just in Ponyville at first to try to get toys for these children. She also went out on her own most of the time and sometimes when the other six had time with them, and hit businesses asking for donations to help the children. In time with a lot of effort they were getting enough toys and donations to not only make sure Equestrian children but also children all over the world had a birthday and toys.
Fluttershy was the last of the group to focus her efforts on a charity. After she started the school for medicine at the new university she got to thinking about all those poor people who didn't have access to health care and those who through some unfortunate even were left without anything, created the Staff of Asclepius. Named after a pony who in ancient history brought medicine to barbaric regions. The charity would enlist doctor volunteers to go to various counties to heal the people suffering there. It also worked with the other three her friends had set up to bring aid to areas where events left people homeless and hurt.
Rainbow Dash, who saw that societies entertainment was limited to celebrations which society had made to many of to make up for the lack of entertainment, races performed by the Wonderbolts, and the Equestrian Games themselves. With the fortune she had made being a Wanderbolt and a trainer when she had settled down Dash start to invest in the newly formed and young film industry. She invested in the fledgling companies giving them enough money to actually really get going. Because of this movie theaters popped up all over, television was later created. Once she started seeing a return on her investment she they started to work with various city officials in many different cities and with the help of Twilight and the princesses were able to have arenas build in those cities and various sports teams formed. In time she helped these forms of entertainment flourish and brought in a lot of money for her troubles. 90 percent of which was given to her friends' charities.
With the six of them and the growing university Ponyville grew from the large village to a sprawling metropolis, growing bigger then even Manehatten.
A hundred years after coming to live with each other to overcome their grief of loss Rarity whom had still regularly slept snuggled up to Twilight had sat on the alicorn's bed next to her closest friend with a small nervous smile.
"Twilight, thank you for everything you have done for me in the last hundred years," Rarity held up her had as Twilight started to speak, knowing the mare would tell her it was no big deal. "Twilight darling, I know you wanted to help us. You even let me sleep with you cuddling each other for a long time. Truth is over the last few decades I have been feeling something, you probably notice it and it was like the others had started to feel for each other," She stopped and sighed as she collected her thoughts. "I have fallen in love with you darling."
Reaching up taking the lavender mare's hands in her own and gently caressing them. "You were there for me in the time of need and were the friend I needed when I needed it. I with those acts felt our friendship grow expectantly over the years. That has grown into a love similar yet different to one I have only felt for one pony, Hoity. I want to be with you Twilight, I want to have you always by my side, to always hold you in my arms for the rest of our forever."
"Rarity, I ... I, " started Twilight stammering as the memory of being used by the one pony she had ever loved came flooding back. In midst of her stammering a gentle soft furred hand pressed against her lips silencing her.
"Darling, it has been nearly 200 years since that bastard hurt you. Please, I know you started to feel for me what I feel for you, you just are afraid of it after your earlier heart break. Twilight darling, please for the sake of yourself and for me let love into your life again," With that he removed her hand, wrapping her arms around the slightly shaking mare pulling her into a tight yet gentle embrace. As they get closer to one another their eyes locking they both move in with slowly careful movements and capture one another's lips. It was there both had fallen asleep in each other's arms snuggling and cuddling into each other more lovingly then ever before.
When twilight came to the next morning she was as usual slumbering in the bed with Rarity holding her. This in it's self not that unusual as Twilight remembered the white unicorn constantly shared her bed. The memories of last night came flooding back to her, remembering the words Rarity spoke. While she did have feeling for the unicorn she didn't know if she was ready for a serious relationship that was just thrown at her like that. She had rushed in with Flash and paid the price. Now while she was nearly 100 percent sure Rarity would ever use her, what if she was mistaking gratitude for love, what id her herself was as well. With a gentle nudge she awake the sleeping mare getting rewarding with a cute yawn.
"Rarity, dear I think we should get up and have breakfast. Then we need to have a conversation about last night okay," asked Twilight with an soft expression on her face.
"Ohh, of course darling, anything you want," Rarity responded with a voice filled with nervousness.
Getting up the lavender mare helped her friend out of the bed and off to have breakfast with the others down in the dinning hall of the castle.
After the meal the two horned mares of the group meet up on the balcony to talk.
"Rarity, first of all I am not saying no. I want to make that perfectly clear," she stated looking into the mare's bright blue eyes. She reached out and took her fellow mare's hands in her own holding them firmly.
"We need to make sure this is the right thing and we are not jumping into something that could damage our close friendship. One of the only good things about immortality is that we have all the time in the world to take this. Now while I am not a fool and I know not even an immortal wants to wait forever, how about we start a little slower then the others. We could go on dates hang out in more social settings, getting to know all that stuff we keep hidden from each other that only Hoity would have known. The stuff hidden beyond the barriers that you don't let us see with the link we posses. I want to see this work I really do care for you but I have learned to be cautious," Twilight said squeezing the hands in her own.
"Okay darling if that is what you want. We could take it as slow as you feel is needed. Though I do have a question about the sleeping arrangements if you want to take this slow," She replied hoping she wouldn't loose her favorite sleep spot.
"I would never deny you a place in my bed to cuddle Rarity. We both need it, need the comfort. But nothing more then cuddling for a while, okay." Twilight finished getting a nod from her friend and a tight hug before both left to start their daily activities.
Time moved quickly for them, Twilight continued her duties as a princess and teaching at the university, she also went out regularly with Rarity both enjoying one another's company. It was around 400 years after, was they started referring to as DoL or Day of Loss and 300 after the start of their relationship. They had used that day when they had to bury their own children as a day when their worlds changed and as a turning moment in time.
It was on that day 400 years after DoL when the first great breakthrough came at the university as one of the most promising engineering students in years had made something that would change everything. In the engineering lab the young stallion named Monkey Wrench had built the first engine powerful enough theoretically move a rocket out of the planet's gravity and into space.
It had taken 5 years after the invention before a suitable vessel for the engine could be built giving birth to the Equestrian Space Program. With help from the mane 6 the program had a base of operations 16 miles outside of Ponyville bringing more tourists to the now massive city. The mane 6 attended every launch of the rocket. With help from Twilight and Pinkie who could now be a professor in engineering much to the others surprise the rocket and engines evolved to allow them just short of light travel. With the work of all three minds barely 60 years after the first rocket engine was built, they launched the first impulse powered shuttle into space. Unfortunately the father of the space program Monkey Wrench was not their to see his final creation lift off into the heavens, so the launch was dedicated to him.
It was after the launch of the shuttle that Twilight and Rarity decided to settle down and in a private ceremony. With only the other girls and the two remaining princesses attending, though it made Twilight wish her brother and sister-in-law were still alive to attend. Celestia presided over the wedding as the two mares said their "I dos" and shared the most heart felt kiss that they had ever had.
Working with Pinkie, Twilight started to get to work on the most difficult project either had ever been apart of. The two had begun to work on breaking the light barrier. Twilight had set up a lab for it just off the university's campus, and had interns from the engineering school to help hoping to find another Monkey in the midst.
The privately funded project took another 400 years of work finding many new discoveries in the process including artificial gravity, which gave birth to new forms of land travel. It also meant the discovery of antimatter, a material which meant the lab had to be moved to a more secluded area as any accident with the volatile material could destroy half of the city and kill hundreds of thousands of ponies.
The long period of time it took was not just the difficulty of the invention but also came as two events caused Twilight to have to shift her focus for a time. The first was the unification of Equuis, this was caused by the idea of star travel feeling a united Equuis would be better represented by a unified front. Each region in the world were allowed two representatives to the newly formed Equuis ruling counsel. The only down side for Twilight was that her title of princess became only that a title, she had no real power anymore and was only viewed as a celebrity. She would only have any power if Luna or Celestia where to step down and none of the three really wanted that.
The second was the most problematic for her as a scientist, the drop in the number of stallions being born every generation. Although their population was always female dominate with maybe 3 mares to each stallion, that gap had been growing. The problem became apparent at around 700 DoL when a census showed it was nearly 6 mares to a single stallion and the number of births of colts dropped a little every year. Twilight with a team of scientists set out to discover a way to save their race from possible extinction if the trend continued. it took nearly a decade of research and many mistakes to finally create a special potion. This potion would allow two mares to mix their blood in would allow the mare who drank it to become pregnant with their mate's foal. This would not only allow fillyfoolers to have a child and thus preserving their race but also gave geneticists time to find a way to strengthen the male gene in order for more to be born.
Now with the creation of the first faster then light engine they set to designing a ship for it to be used and used a simulator on a computer to test the concept ideas and wither or not the ship could theoretically survive at faster then light speeds. After the initial design was figured out a full size replica of the cockpit was developed so that they could train a pilot on how to fly the ship while the work on the actual vessel took place.
It was Rainbow who volunteered to become the pilot on the first possible interstellar ship and with her reflexes and eye sight she was the best choice. So while Pinkie and Twilight supervised the creation of the new space ship Rainbow spent hours upon hours in the simulator to make sure she knew how to not kill herself and her crew.
So it was on the day little over 900 years after the mane 6 found out they were immortal that the fist warp ship piloted by Rainbow and manned by Twilight and Pinkie took off from the space center outside Ponyville and into the heavens to began its trial run.
It had been a little over 100 years since that faithful day that the three had launched the first warp capable ship and the people of Equuis took their first steps into the universe. With that a few things happened. After an accident with a later ship model it was discovered that winged ponies like pegasus and alicorns could actually generate their own atmosphere allowing them to survive unprotected in space. The time was limited to the amount of magic they possessed in their bodies, so more powerful ones like the princesses and Wanderbolts could survive longer then an average pegasus.
The next thing to happened was a small space fleet that mostly patrolled their star system. The crews made up of ponies from several of the lands, a few horses and zebras and even a compliment of griffons. The dragons not liking the idea of space decided under the new Dragonlord Spike that they would provide a planetary defense in case they drew an invasion from any other race that may exist out there.
The last thing to happen in this time, happened just after the completion of their third ship the ESV (Equuis Star Vessel) Canterlot was completed, the first ship to possess a warp 5 capability. The new ship had detected another ship on its sensors heading toward their space at a faster speed then even their latest ship was capable. Luckily the ship in question was not an enemy ship, but in fact brought to Equuis a new friend to their people. The ship was a science vessel of the United Federation of Planets named the USS Equinox under the command of Captain Christopher Graham an older human. With it and the information they gave the younger space traveling race about the galaxy, its races and science brought Equuis into a new age.
There stat Twilight and her friends where by the counsel's request were in the waiting room to the counsel hall seated as they waited till they were told to enter into the proceedings. The notice had come to them 6 months ago along with a stack of 6 datapads with an added note to have each member of their herd to study one. The six were surprised to find it as a study guide for Federation technology and history.
"So why do you think they wanted us here Twi," asked Rainbow as she hovered over the alicorn's shoulder lazily.
"Well I can take a guess, but it would just be that a guess. With the information they sent us, stuff that from what I learned is Federation data. The Federation would not release the data easily since a lot of it is technology they keep to themselves. My guess is they wanted us to gather information on them since they are to busy and we most of us are experts in some of the fields. Why they sent it to all of us and not just you, Pinkie and myself though is a mystery. But I digress, I think the counsel is thinking of joining the Federation and wanted us to go over information on the organization," Twilight responded trying herself to fully figure it out.
It was not to long after the brief conversation that the six mares were shown into counsel chambers where a few members of other races sat. On screens to the side was Spike the leader of the dragons and Twilight's old assistant, on the other was a dragon she had never meet but the markings painted on it's scaly form was that of dragon command general. Also in the counsel chamber were three well dressed Federation ambassadors, two humans and a vulcan.
"Thank you for coming you all," started Luna.
"I guess you want to know what this is about. But before we get started we should probably introduce you to the new people in the room. These are Ambassadors, Richard Graves, Lindy O'Conner, and T'Leia of the United Federation of Planets," continued Celestia as she pointed over to the aliens seated at the counsel table.
"For the last six months we have been hammering out some details with our planet joining the Federation. There are a lot of dangers in the galaxy and joining them will bean we will have help if something does arise. But to smooth this over and get our people to look into exploring outside of our own star system we need to have someponies well known enough to venture out there and show others it's not as bad as it seems. That is why you six are here today, we wish for you to join their organization Starfleet to become these someponies that will inspire the world. I will now turn it over to our esteamed guests to explain everything," Celestia finished.
"Thank you, your highness. Now as she said before I am Richard Graves and i am lead ambassador of this diplomatic assembly. I am not going to lie to you the Federation has had its eyes on Equuis for a while, your people are a unique force in the known galaxy. The use of magic would become a very useful ability to have on our side, so we were more then happy with the small amount of cultural needs your people have. All equine and griffon members of Starfleet will have their cultural right observed. In the case of equines such as yourselves herds will be held together, if a captain needs or wants one of you they get you all. After reviewing the benefits of herds we can see this as an asset more then a issue. Though we suggest either working in a more general area like command, science or engineering as these can occupy more then one area of the ship. You could also pick out a second job for instance if you study ship operations you could also pick up cargo and supply or transporter schooling. The second will be the right to wear your, I believe they are called cutie mark patches," finished a little unsure it that was the right name for it and looking back at Luna and Celestia for affirmation.
After they gave him a nod he continued. " If you six are willing and have gotten you studies done we have the USS Enterprise in orbit with Admiral Nsomeka aboard who can authorize your entrance exams. After which you could either return here and stay at this palace since the princesses authorized it or remain on the ship until the results are in. That should take no more then a day or two."
'What do you girls think,' Twilight asked over their bond.
'Are you kidding this sounds like so much funny fun fun adventure I say we do it,' Pinkie responded.
'My darling I go where you go. Although I am not against this at all sounds like a break from the routine. Lets face it over a thousand years of the same thing gets rather dull,' continued Rarity.
'Although the idea of schooling is not something I am looking forward to. I will admit the idea of getting a chance to possibly get to pilot one of those Federation star ships would be AWESOME,' exclaimed Rainbow.
'Well uhh, If you girls think it would be for the best[/],' Fluttershy whispered over the link.
'Well sugarcube, ah ain't got much ta do here. Not since ah gave the farm to mah and mac's grandchildren and let it pass down the line. Ah say we do this ya'll,' finished off Applejack.
"Okay, we have talked it over and we are in. It would be nice to see new things after so long of the same thing. I also have to admit I am looking forward to new avenues of science that this will open up to me. So yes Ambassador Graves we are ready to do start," Twilight finally said after she got the other input.
"Very well you six good luck," Graves said with a smile on his face before tapping the badge on his chest. "Graves to Enterprise ," he started as he moved closer to the six. "Seven to beam up,' he finished.
The sensation was a little odd to the six as the saw a blue light shimmer into existence in front them and then the room shift from the counsel chamber to medium sized room with a large circular platform they were standing on. Across the there stood five humans, the one behind the console was a middle aged human with receding curly brown hair.
The other four though seemed far more important. The first was a stern looking man man with a measured smile but not unwelcoming. The man was bald with very short grew hair circling from one side of the head back to the other side. He wore a red and back top with four golden pins on his collar, black slacks and black dress shoes.
The man to his left wore the same attire with three pips on his collar. The man appeared much younger then the other with black back hair neatly parted to the right and a short dark beard. His expression was more friendly then the other with a gentle smile.
The third stood out from the others as she was the only one wearing a blue uniform instead of red. She was a young looking woman with bushy black hair pulled back with a gold silver black and copper colored braided hairband. She had two solid gold pips and one that was black with a gold outer ring. Her smile was sincere with emotion filled black eyes.
The last was an older human woman with graying brown hair pulled back into a tight bun. Her red top had gold pipping running along the separating the red and black and then running down the flap. The top also was longer then the others with black cuff embroidered by gold pipping. she had on her a black rectangle rank insignia with gold outline and three gold dots in it.
"Ladies welcome aboard the Enterprise, I am Jean-Luc Picard captain of this ship. To my left is my first officer Commander William Riker, Counselor Deanna Troi, and last but not least Admiral Nsomeka head of Starfleet Academy. We have been asked to host your entrance testing and to transport you to Earth where the academy is located. If you ladies will follow us we will show you to where you will be holding your tests," spoke the bald leader as the four of them lead the six mares out of the room.
After several grueling hours of testing and assessments the six found themselves in the ship lounge to relax a little before heading back home to say goodbye to everything they knew for Celestia only knew how long. Sitting at the bar with a glass of apple cider next to Rarity, Twilight watched as their other friends enjoyed themselves. Rainbow was at a table with Applejack and two junior officers talking it up with exuberance. Fluttershy was with the bar manager and hostess Guinan talking to talk an excited Pinkie out of throwing a massive part until they were sure they all passed. The sight made her chuckle at the sight of two patient females dealing with the easily excited mare.
"Mind if we sit beside you, Princess Sparkle," came a voice to her left side. Looking over she sees Commander Riker and Counselor Troi standing there.
"No of course not, and its just Twilight. Even after all this time I prefer more informal titles," she answered with a smile across her muzzle. Watching as the two sat down Riker started up a conversation.
"When I read your profile I have to admit I was surprised. Never seen a new member send on of their royals to join Starfleet," the bearded officer started.
"It's all just a title, I have only been a royal celebrity for the last few hundred years. Ever since the ruling console was formed and a third princess was no longer needed. Besides we are more likely go off into the unknown then any other herd. Also with out status on our world us joining will spark more interest," she responded with a chuckle.
"Hmm, so it is true you and the others are more then a 1000 years old. Have to say from what I have seen of your people you don't look any older then your early 20's," Riker continued.
"Heh, benefits to being immortal I guess. we will always look like we are in out 20's, even when we reach our one million birthday. Has some benefits but caused a lot of pain. We actually didn't find out about it until after we all had families and children," she said with a soft sigh.
Troi left off a soft gasp. "Ohh, that must have been so hard on you all. I couldn't imagine watching my children grow old and die while I stayed the same as ever," said after she figured out the longing emotion she felt form the lavender mare.
"It's okay now, we will never forget them but we have moved on and accepted what we are. After the first century was the hardest we shut ourselves in my castle for a couple decades before we were ready to face the world again," Twilight responded looking up at the emphatic officer.
"You going to be staying on the ship till the results are in or you going to be heading back down planet side," questioned Riker.
"Well we are going home for the wait, in fact need to head there now actually. It was good talking to you both and I am sure we will have plenty of time on the trip to Earth to talk more," she finished with a gentle smile of her own as she sent a alert to the others through their link.
"Take care Twilight, we will have to have some kind of celebration when the results come in," said Riker as the girls gathered to her.
"Don't worry I am sure Pinkie here will do one for us no matter what," she responded with a chuckle knowing her pink friend well enough to do just that.
"Yuppers," chirped the pink mare to the commander as she followed the others out.
It took two days for the results to come in. They had all passed with varying degrees of success. Twilight had passed with the highest science and over all score since Commander Data's entry exam. Rarity passed with a slightly above average grade. Pinkie scored really high only a few points off of Twilight with incredible scores in engineering and warp theory. Applejack had on upper end average score. Rainbow had just barely passed not surprising anyone as the speedster was not the best test taker, and while she was better then she used to be she was not the best at studying either. Flutteshy did quite well, nothing ground breaking but it showed the mare was very intelligent behind her her meek demeanor.
After a tearful so long to Celestia and Luna the six mares where once again back on board the Enterprise heading off to Earth to start their studies to be Starfleet officers.
The trip to Earth had taken several days but had been somewhat enjoyable. Of course the first night on the ship Pinkie had thrown a huge party for them and the crew in the lounge Ten Forward. In fact all of the main bridge officers with the exception of Worf, had attended as it took place after the shift change. Knowing her long time friend as well as she did Twilight went to the captain and got permission, she also got permission from the from the barkeep Guinan as the wise sounding woman seemed to take what happened in the lounge very seriously.
Once the ship had docked with the Earth Spacedock the mares were gathered up by Admiral Nsomeka and led off of the large ship and onto the massive space station. After working their way through the busy station did they finally reach the transporter room. Finally with a beam of blue light the six mares were now the very first equine to ever set hoof on an alien world. They got curious looks from some of the students making their way from and too various classes through the beautifully maintained gardens.
"Cadets, I am sorry we had to go through the station. Normally we would just have the Enterprise beam us down directly, but the ship is undergoing a full overhaul. This means that as soon as the ship docked and all systems were down or secure they had the crew had to gather their effects and disembark themselves," The admiral stated.
"We understand admiral," Twilight replied in a now crisp tone snapping to attention remembering that Starfleet was military. Growing up watching her brother rise through the ranks as a royal guard had taught her how to act in this setting.
The aging leader gave a hidden smile at the response not expecting it from any of the none militaristic mares. "Good now follow along we need to get you six signed you up for classes, get you the proper uniforms and get you your dorms," she finished.
"Ma'am permission to speak," Twilight asked and waiting for a nod of response before continuing. After getting the nod she finished. "Admiral is it normal for somepo... I mean someone of your stature to be showing around new cadets?" Having been a leader for a few hundred years herself she knew that things like this were usually handed down the chain of command so the busy leader could get back to important things.
"Not normally no, but we usually do for the first of any new members to the Federation to join. Since you six are the first from Equuis to join the the academy I will make sure your fully settled in," she answered leading the to a large building of metal and glass that stood at a slight slant to it at on end of the gardens they had beamed into. and guiding them through the large double doors.
It took 2 hours to finish the registration for classes. Twilight had obviously picked science with course and pushed for as many courses as she could. Some of her main classes would be in astrophysics, elementary temporal mechanics, biochemistry, organic chemistry and quantum chemistry. Rarity majored in ship operations and transporter theory. Applejack decided to focus on security and tactics. Rainbow really wandered to focus on piloting more then anything but was talked into security as a back up. Pinkie being the main inventor of Equuis warp drive with Twilight only work theory signed up for engineering courses. Fluttershy picked out the medical field mostly a focus on medicine and exo/xenobiologies.
After the courses they were taken to the academy's requisition offices to get their uniform. The uniforms were different then the ones the crew on the ship wore. Instead of the top being specialty colors and black shoulders, these were all black with specialization colored shoulders. Twilight and Fluttershy wearing uniforms with blue shoulders. Ratity, Applejack and Pinkie got gold shoulder uniforms. Rainbow got the only one of the group in a red shouldered uniform. All the uniforms had a combadge similar to the ones the crew wore. Unlike most races short of the the caitians were not required to wear boots over their hooves.
Finally they were brought to their dorms were they could finally rest until the morning when classes would start tomorrow morning at 7 am. The dorm set ups were arranged to allow two to a dorm in three dorms all next to one another with a single large bed instead of twin beds. Rarity and Twilight taking the one in the middle, with Fluttershy and Pinkie to their left and Applejack and Rainbow to their right. By the time they all got to their dorms they were so exhausted from all the business that day that they only wanted to settle into bed and sleep, so with her snuggling into Rarity the two peacefully drifted off to slumber ending their day.
A beeping sound rang through the room gentle rousing the newly alicorn cadet from her warm comfortable slumber against her lovely wife. Groaning as she opens her eyes gently prying herself from the white unicorn's grasp she looks over to the alarm clock on the table indicating it to be 5 am. She looked over to Rarity's sleeping form saddened she needed to awaken the angelic form in the bed, but needing to so they have time to get ready and have a breakfast before they all have to head off to their classes.
"Rarity, sweetheart wake up. We need to get started," she said softly but loud enough to start to rouse the mare. Seeing Rarity slowly coming back to the world of the living she decides to help her along. Leaning over the bed her body held above the mare with an arm on each side of her she leans in pressing her lips to the well cared for lips of her lover.
"Ohh, I haven't gotten up this early in centuries. At least it was a pleasant way to wake up," the white mare responded her sapphire blue eyes taking in the world around her.
"Come on you go get a shower while i go make sure the others are up. After we get dressed and make the bed we can all head off to breakfast. We are going to need it before class we missed lunch and dinner yesterday with all the admissions stuff," Twilight commented as she pulled herself out of the bed walking toward the door.
"Just meet me there when you get them up all take your stuff to the showers with me," called out as she gathered up both of their uniforms and health and beauty supplies they both needed into a basket. Turning toward the bed she decided to beat Twilight to it. Pulling the sheets up and smoothing them out she made the bed for them. After the bed was crisply made to her satisfaction she headed out of the dorm carrying the basket of supplies to the floors showers.
When all six were up showered and dressed they headed out of the female dorms and trotting quickly across the campus toward the cafeteria. Looking at the selections available in the lines, the sight of meat still making them queasy even after all dealing with the carnivorous griffons on a semi regular basis. After each grabbing various vegetables and breads they all took seats at the table and dung in hungrily, the lack of two meals yesterday. As they ate a group of young cadets made their way toward them holding food trays.
"Do you mid if we join you," asked a young human male with bright red hair asked the mares.
"Sure, sit where ever you like," Twilight replied with a welcoming smile. Taking in the group she noticed two humans out of the four cadets now taking seats. The second with a human female around the same age as the male with sandy blond. an andoria male with droopy antenna and a catian though the mares were not familiar enough with the feline race to know the gender.
"Thank you, I am Jaden O'Conner first year cadet and in command school, this is Kaitlin Samuels same in both areas. Our andorian friend is Gareb th'Zarath first year as well engineering school. Finally this is C'halaa first year and in the medical school," Jaden introduced his companions before continuing. "You are all from Equuis, are you not. It was just announced your planet joining the Federation. We are ashamed to admit we know little of your race other then your kind is the first to be discovered that can weird actual magic. Perhaps you could be kind enough to tell us a little and maybe include why some of of have accessories like horns and wings while others don't."
Twilight after finishing off her meal as the young man talked to her then gave him her full attention. "Not a problem I'll start be introducing my herd, firstly like you we are all first year students. At the end down there the one with the pink mane and wings is Fluttershy who is in medical school, next to her is Pinkie Pie engineering. The one with the rainbow colored mane is aptly names Rainbow Dash she is in command school to learn piloting. Next the orange mare with the blond mane is Applejack she is in security school. to my other side is rarity is is studying operation, and I am Twilight Sparkle I am a student of science."
Taking a pause to catch her breath. "Now as far as pony kind there are four sub races and all the races use magic differently. Applejack and Pinkie Pie are earth ponies, this group's magic makes them stronger and more durable it also allows them to grow food easier since through touch the subcousiously inject mana the energy that makes up magic into the plant. Rainbow and Fluttershy are pegasus, they manifest magic for flight and and can use it to manipulate the weather by pushing clouds around and stimulating them. Also recently we discovered they actually generate a personal atmosphere so they can survive with out protection in space, the amount of time demends on the mana levels they possess. Rarity is a unicorn their magic is more blatant as the horn allows them to focus magic in other forms though most can only use magic based on their special talents. Lastly myself I am an alicorn there are only three of us alive including myself. We have properties of all three sub races."
"Man, that must be helpful as heck to have at your disposal. So how strong can earth ponies get and how fast can a pegasus fly," he continued.
"Applejack thanks to certain events is probably the strongest earth pony on Equuis as for a idea on strength. Are any of you familiar with Commander Data on the Enterprise," she asked getting nods from the cadets as everyone in Starfleet has at least heard of the unique android. " She is as strong as him, we learned this when they had an arm wrestling match turning our trip here. She held out for about an hour only lost because he doesn't tire she does. As far as pegasus speed Rainbow is the fastest flier she has been clocked doing Mach 10," Twilight finished astounding the group.
"One last question before we all need to head off, what is with the patches on your uniforms," he asked pointing at the cutie mark patches on their left shoulders
"These are cutie mark patches. They are to show are cutie marks which appear in a very personal place and would be improper to show. But the marks are important to our society always have been, they are the first sign pf adulthood that shows up around the start of puberty and show that we have discovered what we are most talented in. We were given cultural rights to wear them on our uniforms. Well we have to all go we need to make it across campus to make our classes on time. If you like, you are more then welcome to join us for meals from now on we can learn more about each others cultures and even become friends. Those never hurt do they, " Twilight finished as she and the others gathered up their trays and set them on the counter to be taken. After they had cleaned up all 10 of the cadets set off in separate directions toward their assigned classes.
As year went on the group of mares adjusted to the academy life, some better then other. Twilight, Applejack and Fluttershy adjusted the best out of the group each having reasons through out their lives to be early risers. Rainbow Dash did the worst of the group in adjusting having a preferred preference to sleeping in everyday. Pinkie Pie and Rarity adjusted decently much faster they they would have normally thanks to the help of their significant other.
Studies went differently for each in different ways as well. Twilight being the scholarly mare she was quickly rose to top in the first year science program and her years as a potions scientist made understanding chemistry much easier being closely related.
"And that is the basic creation of a bio synthetic adhesive capable of bonding damaged hull in space until repair crews can properly seal it," Spoke the lavender Alicorn whom at some point in the class had actually taken it over from the teacher. She had in the span of an hour of lecture covered several of the basic properties of several chemical formulas.
Most of the class including the professor got sucked into the lecture and mass of information given in a short amount of time. It took only a moment after the equine mare had finished her talking did he remember he was supposed to be teaching.
"Well, not sure how that happened but it will not be happening again," he commented. He had merely asked her for information on proteins used for more common formulas and she went and turned it into a lecture something he expected only a third year student capable of understanding let alone writing down the equations.
"Please return to your seat Cadet Sparkle," she ordered the mare as he moved back toward his podium. As they passed he stopped her for a second and spoke to her in a soft voice so only she could hear. "After that little performance I expect great things from you Sparkle. Do not prove me wrong."
Applejack didn't stand out in her academic classes, but classes like hand to hand and other physical courses her Earth Pony strength, durability and her natural endurance set her apart from other cadets.
The hand to hand instructor walked around the grappling cadets. The instructor a veteran Vulcan security officer had parried them up with another cadet to see what each of them were capable of. He was forced to come to a sudden halt as he watched the smallest of his students preform a toss on her opponent. The 147 cm orange equine had tossed the much taller female a good 10 feet where she landed with a crack. He had observed how little effort she seemed to put into the throw. As the medics stationed near the training grounds rushed over to repair the obvious broken hip of the other cadet, he made a mental note to only pair her up with the strongest members of the class.
Off to the side as the medics worked on the whimpering human female Applejack was off to the side apologizing profusely.
"Ah'm, sorry, ah didn't mean to use that much strength," she bowed her head in apology.
Pinkie Pie excelled in her courses but drove each of her professors to near madness with her constant antics. Her sudden appearances in random locations did not help either.
"The next important tool used by Starfleet engineers is called a coil spanner. It will be...,"The professor was interrupted by a sudden appearance right behind her.
"Ohh, that's really neato. But if used as a weapon could really hurt some pony," came a loud exuberant voice right behind her making her jump and collapse on her podium. She had been paying attention to her class as she showed off the tool and the pink mare who was now behind her had been on the other end of the room. This left her wandering where in the heck she came form.
"Cadet Pie, why are you behind me," she asked with a measured tone trying to keep calm to get her now racing heartbeat back down. She had felt it was better to ask the oddity on hooves why instead of how figuring the answer would be less of a headache.
"I just wanted a better look at the tool, it really is kind of neato by the way," the party mare answered with innocent obliviousness.
"Well in the future please raise you hand and ask to see it closer up. Now Cadet Pie would you be so kind as to SIT BACK DOWN," she screamed the last of it.
'Okie dokie loki," Pinkie answered with a grin before vanishing back to hear seat leaving behind a pink smoke cloud in her shape. After a moment of looking at the oddly colored and shaped cloud she poked it curiously. She face palmed at her self with a sigh thinking of the headache she was going to get as she watched the cloud dissipate. Taking a deep breath and counting to 10 she turned back around and continued the lecture watching Pinkie with closer scrutiny.
Rarity, having run her own fashion empire for more then a life time or two coordinating resources; This experience made the information on how to perform Starship Operations a breeze.
"Excellent work cadet, I doubt anyone short of a long term veteran operations officer could have solved the problem in that amount of time," stated the professor as her went over her assignment.
"Thank you sir, I ran a very successful business and a massive charity organization for a very long time. Operations just feels so similar in duties that it's like old hat, Rarity replied with a undertone of pride in her voice and a large smile on her face.
"Well it is very similar that usually many operations officers become business managers if they ever leave the Federation. Never had one do it the other way before, most cadets start in the academy as soon as they are old enough so haven't that much real universe experience."Keep at it, I can see you excelling in this field." Finished off the smiling professor as he got up ending class.
While Fluttershy tried not to stand out in her classes her race drew a little attention. But what got her the most was when observing a procedure at Starfleet medical she was forced to help with an unruly patient that had many eyes on her, much to her chagrin.
"Sir, calm down ple..., " the nurse on duty was cut off as the man hit her in a fit of panic. Seeing the problem and the amount of injuries the disoriented patient possessed as the medical staff tried to reassure him and their pleads falling on unhearing ears. She slowly trotted up before security was forced to restrain him and force fields to hold him in place. Looking the man in the eyes she stared at hard at him penetrating his crazed state instantly. As she walked to him, her stare intensified making him back up to the medical bed and get back into it without a sound.
"Good, now just be good and the doctors will make you feel better okay?" She stated softly with a reassuring voice while she gently patted him on the head. Then she moved back to her classmates letting the doctor work on the man. While she felt good helping him the looks of wonderment was quite disheartening . As she look her place he lowered her head trying to hide behind her mane.
Rainbow Dash was doing okay at her class work thanks to her friends but was one of three cadets who were top of the class in practical studies like simulators. It was there she made two rivals; one was a friendly rival by the name of Tom Paris, who she worked well with and constantly pushed each other to do better. The other was not friendly, a cadet named Nicholas Locarno who was as ruthless as they came. Despite looking an awful lot like Tom making Rainbow wander if Tom's father wasn't busy on the side some where, the two constantly butted heads over his actions.
The class had just completed another round of shuttlecraft flight simulations, being that it was late in the year it was in a combat situation. Rainbow had been forced to pair up with Nicholas as her wingman. He had used her as a shield against an attack to get a kill shot making her simulation end with a destroyed image appearing on her screen.
"Hey jerk, what the hell was that about," she marched up to the other cadet her fists balled up ready to hit him only to be held back by Tom.
"Winning, if you had been faster you might have not been blown up. Good for me you weren't," Nicholas said with a condescending tone as he looked at her with indifference.
She growled at him struggling to get out of Tom's grasp. "Rainbow come on he isn't worth it. You are the better pilot that's why he he set you up like that. After all your the second best in this class," Tom said reassuringly getting an snort out of both of them for different reasons.
"Only in your dreams there Paris," she quipped as they walked away form the now scowling rival.
Outside of class the four new friends they had made their first day had grown closer. They could often be seen hanging out during meals and after class laughing and joking around. That wasn't to say that the four didn't have moments of silent shock from strange actions the equines would do at times. Two events stood out more then any others.
It was after class and 8 of them were sitting around in the gardens walking with only Rainbow missing.
"So where is Dash anyhow," asked Kaitlin.
"She ain't taken an afternoon nap since we all got 'ere. So be'n' the lazy mare she is, she is doing just that." Stated Applejack pointing up to draw their attention to an oddly low flying rouge cloud. As odd as the it was being that low what was really strange was the cyan colored hooves hanging over the sides with a rainbow colored tail.
"She is sleeping up there? How is she not falling through. Clouds are not solid only visible mass of liquid droplets they shouldn't be able to hold mass," asked Jaden in a loud voice. The question made the others look to Twilight to give an explanation other then 'just something Pegasus can do'.
"Winged ponies like Rainbow, Fluttershy and myself can walk, sit, sleep or even swim in clouds. How it works it the mana in our skin allows us to change the density of the parts of the cloud we have direct contact with. The effect of which is controlled either consciously or subconsciously," Twilight gave as a brief explanation having mostly curbed her lecture mode. Outside a classroom anyhow as her teachers and classmates had the unfortunate pleasure of discovering.
Are they comfortable?" asked Kaitlin with some curiosity.
"Extremely, it is literally like what you'd imagine sleeping on a puffy white ball of cotton would be." she responded making the others picture it in their minds. For the first, and no where near last, time they all knew each other the non equines had a look of slight jealousy over not having magic.
Another time that stood out happened as Twilight and C'halaa, whom shared a biochemistry class together were running later. They had all talked to long and with how much further away the twos class was then the others there was no way they would make it on time at their current running speed limitations.
"We will never make it," the Caitian said who the mares had learned was a female of the race after getting to know her better.
"Yeah we will hold on," Twilight exclaimed reaching out and taking C'halaa's shoulder in her grasp as her horn flared up in a magenta glow. Then in a flash of magenta, Twilight and a disoriented feline appeared right in front of the door making the whole class and professor jump at the flash of sudden light. As the two make their way into the room leaving everyone gaping at them in awe they made it just in time. As the year came to an end, the girls planned for a nice 4 week vacation trip to see Earth's landscape together and prepared for finals. Twilight and Pinkie were awarded with plaques for their exemplary marks in their subjects and a glare to Pinkie from everyone one of her professors.
It was with this happy ending of the year that the mares packed and with a vote choose to have a romantic group trip to Paris. Rainbow wasn't to happy with the idea of a mushy trip at first but Applejack put an end to that with a secretive whisper and a sly grin on the Pegasus' face.
