The past

Shock Wave was a new pony in town. She didn't know anypony and didn't want to. She just signed her agreement with the mayor for her new place. All she wanted to do was get home and relax. She was too uptight and was beginning to get edgy. She blew her green and orange mane to the side.

"Hi!" Somepony shouted from behind her, causing her to squeak in terror. "Oh my celestia, I am soooo so so sorry! Its just I've never seen you around before which means I've never met you which means you're new here which means I should introduce myself! My name is Pinkie Pie!"

Shock Wave removed her hoof from under her cloak and saddlebag and calmed her breathing. She had almost- no she wouldn't think about it.

"I'm Shock Wave." She muttered, continuing to walk to her new temporary home near the Everfree forest.

"Its nice to meet you Shock Wave! Oh! I'm hosting a welcome party for you! I just thought of it! Ill come by later to get you!" The pink pony disappeared before she could protest.

Shock Wave sighed and continued walking. Nothing she could do right now. She saw her home come into view. She glanced to her left and noticed a small cottage. As she drew nearer she noticed a chicken coop surrounded by a fence as well as many small woodland creatures littering around the house. She noticed a yellow pegasi with a light pink mane flying around attending to the animals. This would cause potential problems.

She rubbed her horn and sighed. More problems that she didn't need. She arrived at her home and opened her door, stepping inside. She closed the door behind her, locking it and lighting some candles. Finally.
She could begin preparation.

She began by making sure all of the windows were locked and covered with sheets. She didn't want anypony to see what she was up to. She then began to pull items from her saddlebag. Some tools, plastic, boots, and her photo book. She smiled and opened it, flipping through the pages as memories flooded her mind.

She was a young unicorn filly. Living in Manehattan at the orphanage, she was happy. Despite not having a mother or father, she had a positive outlook on life. She wanted to be a singer more than anything. She looked up to ponies like Chad Cruemane and The Beetle Colts. She had a beautiful voice, and often sang at charity benefits. She didn’t have her cutie mark yet, but she was sure it would be one that had something to do with singing. It was Hearths warming eve and she was excited. She would be singing for
Princess Celestia for the charity ball at the Mane hall. She was waiting backstage before the show.

"Now Shock Wave, this is a very important day for you." Her case colt, Tumbleweed, said encouragingly. "Princess Celestia will be here and I want you to try your best. And most of all have fun and smile."

Shock wave grinned from ear to ear. "I will. You can count on me!"

"Fillies and gentle colts! We are proud to present one of our brightest young fillies to sing for you on this hearths warming eve!" The announcer said over the loud speaker.

"You're up! Good luck!" tumbleweed gave her a nudge with his hoof.

"Give a round of applause for Shock Wave!"

She walked out to the stage, still grinning. She heard cheers from the crowd and looked around. There she was! Princess Celestia was smiling, her mane sparkling in the afternoon light.

Shock Wave took a deep breath and began to sing, all the while her eyes never leaving Celestia. She watched as the Princess looked down at a purple filly, said something, and glanced back at Shock Wave. The little purple filly began to cry and Princess Celestia went to comfort her. What Shock Wave heard next changed her life forever.

"She's so poor and drab. Why does she get such a beautiful voice?"

Shock Wave continued to sing hoping she had heard wrong from the purple filly. She wasn't poor. She wasn't drab! She had everything she needed. So why was this pony, who new nothing about her, who probably still had her parents, say something so hurtful?

Shock Wave was so angry. Her voice cut out and she stopped singing.

"Shock Wave?" Tumbleweed whispered from the side stage.

Tears started falling from the red fillies eyes. She suddenly let out an ear piercing screech, causing everypony within earshot to drop to the ground, covering their ears in pain. Nearby windows shattered. When she finally took a breath she looked around. Princess Celestia was on the ground covering the purple filly with her wing and covering her own ears with her hoofs.

"Twilight Sparkle, are you okay?"The Princess asked the filly.

Shock Wave took a deep breath and screeched again. She could hear the ponies cries for help. When her voice died down she didn't think, she just ran. Away from the voices, away from the screaming, and away from that purple filly. She was too ashamed to want to go back. She thought she heard somepony call her name, but she didn't stop running. Couldn't stop. She ran for what felt like forever.

When she stopped running nothing looked familiar. It was getting dark and she couldn't see the city lights. She heard a river nearby and she was next to a forest. She sat down by a tree, breathing heavily. She could never go back. They would never accept her after what she did.

She hung her head, her orange and green mane falling over her eyes. She glanced at her flank and saw a peculiar sight. She had her cutie mark, but it wasn't what she was expecting. It was four rings, small to large extending from inner flank to outer.

A shock wave.

Beautiful wings

Shock Wave was startled by a pounding at her door. She quickly stashed her things back into her saddlebag and blew out the candle. She held her breath and peeked through the peephole in the door, trying to be as silent as possible.
It was that annoying Pinkie Pie again. The pink earth pony had what looked like a pink cannon in front of her. Shock Waves eyes widened as she slowly backed away from the door.

Had the ponies somehow figured out why she was in Ponyville? Where they going to take her out before her plan could come to light? Shock Wave was beginning to panic, her breathing becoming increasingly ragged as her flank hit the back wall of her temporary home.

'calm down, Wave.' She thought to herself. 'There's got to be another reason that she has a cannon. Its pink. Maybe its not for injuring. Maybe its for shooting animals. Yeah that's it.'

She tried to reassure herself and calm her heart, which just happened to be trying to leap from her chest. 'In one two three. Out one two three.' She calmed her breathing with her ritual. It helped. Now what to do about that tiresome Pinkie Pie.

"Shoooooock Waaaaaave!" The poofy pink maned pony's voice was muffled and yet still managed to annoy the crimson mare. "Are you home?"

Shock Wave stood silent, breathing slowly and calmly.

"Aww I guess she's not home... and my party cannon was filled with the perfect decorations." Shock wave could hear the pout in her voice and could practically see the pink mares lip sticking out. "Fine. I'll come back later."

She listened to the ponys hoof steps fade and finally relaxed. She had gotten so worked up over a decoration cannon. She sighed and relit her candle, and took a good look around. This place was very dusty. One big room with a small kitchen to the right of the front door. To the left was a small space for a bed. She wouldn't be using it. She didn't sleep.

She instead used that nook for her belongings. She laid out the plastic from the saddlebag and arranged the tools in an orderly fashion. A small butchers knife, a pair of pliers, a small spade, and about 20 hoof lengths of rope. Everything she needed to pull off her scheme. She pulled out her photo book again, as more recent memories washed over her and she smiled.

She had just turned 17. 10 years have passed since she learned her special talent. She finally arrived in Canterlot. It was midnight and she was getting a nervous tick. Her anger has been slowly getting the best of her and she needed a release. She recently discovered that the purple filly who scarred her had somehow become an alicorn princess. She snorted angrily.

'Princess' Twilight sparkle didn't deserve to be an alicorn. Why did she get wings while Shock Wave hid in sewers and ate from trash cans. She smiled. Soon the beautiful and kind princess would get what she deserved... but first... the red mare spotted another red pegasi wobbling away from a bar. She made her way quickly over to the drunk pony and caught him before he fell over.

"Are you okay sir?" She asked, faking a smile. "Do you need to a helping hoof?"

"Aren't you a pretty little filly." His words slurred, and his breath smelled horrible.

Shock wave scrunched her muzzle. "Here come this way."

She led him into a dark alley way, half dragging, half walking him, and dropped him onto the ground.

"Come over *Hic* here." He swayed as he tried to keep himself upright.

Shock wave pulled a small pocket knife from her saddlebag and grinned maniacally.

"Whatcha got there?" The colt asked, trying hard to focus.

She didn't say anything as she quickly and effectively stabbed him in the heart. His death was quick and painless. She flipped his lifeless body over as blood began to pool around him. She hummed as she worked, cutting his wings from his back. She would soon have wings more beautiful than Twilight Sparkle. When she finished, she wiped the sweat from her brow on the back of her hoof.

She smiled, her work nearly complete. She made incisions on her back, just below her shoulders. She didn't feel any pain. She was too elated to bother with something so minute. She pulled a needle and thread from her bag and began sewing the wings into the holes. It was a difficult process but having magic helped.

After awhile she was finally done. The wings would have to heal for awhile. She grabbed some rope and tied her new wings down so they could heal properly. The mare cleaned herself up, using a worn rag from the alleyway. She then moved the colt who had so graciously given her wings into the dumpster. She smiled, pleased with her work and began heading to her hotel room. Soon she would learn how to fly!

We finally meet

Soon preparations were complete. Shock Wave looked down at her work, a satisfied grin played on her face. The mauve mare headed to her front door, first peaking through the peep-hole to see if anypony was about, and left her home, making sure to lock the door tight.

She decided the best thing to do was scout the town, and possible areas of escape, in case her plan went awry. She wandered to a bright pink building to see what information she could gather. The sign next to the door told her this was 'Sugarcube Corner.'

"Huh.. odd name. Is it like a candy place or something?" she mumbled out loud.

"SHOCK WAVE! I FOUND YOU!!!" a voice shouted in excitement, causing Shock wave to jump about three feet.

She whirled around, in a battle stance, then stopped herself. 'Confound this annoying pink pony!' The green and orange maned pony sighed. 'in one two three. out one two three.' She counted to herself, breathing calmly.

"Hello, Pinkie Pie." She forced a smile, gritting her teeth. She was beginning to hate this pink pony almost as much as Twilight Sparkle.

The fluffy maned pony began pushing her inside Sugarcube Corner. "Come inside! I have a surprise for you!"

Shock Wave tried to resist, but it was no use. She stepped inside, and was greeted with darkness. "What's going on?" She asked, beginning to freak out.

The lights flashed on and she was momentarily blinded. "SURPRISE!" She heard the cheers of many voices.

She rubbed her eyes and blinked the spots away. What she saw was at least 30 ponies, ranging in age and species, stomping their hooves and smiling. "What?"

"I toooold I was going to throw you a party!" Pinkie Pie said, grinning from ear to ear.

Shock Wave looked around. There were decorations everywhere. Pink and purple streamers, the whole rainbow spectrum of balloons, party hats, and a lot of party favors.

"We want you to feel welcome here in Ponyville, and offer you our friendship." A white unicorn with a purple mane stepped forward. Her attitude screamed 'elite and snooty.'

"Yeah. 'ah recon you need some friends, bein' new 'round here 'n all." A southern speaking, blonde maned, orange pony stepped forward.

"Shock Wave, meet Rarity and Apple Jack! two of my bestest friends in all of Equestria!" Pinkie Pie chipped in. "And this is Fluttershy," She gestured to a quiet yellow pegasus with a light pink mane.

"H-hello. It's nice to meet you." Fluttershy said almost inaudibly.

"And I'm Rainbow Dash! Greatest flyer in all of Equestria!" A rainbow maned, blue pegasus landed in front of Shock Wave, startling her.

"Hi. It's nice to meet all of you." Shock Wave lied. "Can i leave now?"

"Leave?! You cant leave yet! You haven't even eaten any of the cake i made you!" Pinkie Pie waved her hoof behind her, revealing a banner that said 'Welcome Shock wave!' and below it, a giant four layer red frosted cake. "Plus i have one of my friends you haven't met yet. She'll be here soon."

Shock wave sighed. This crazy pony didn't know when to stop. 'let's just get through this, then i can continue with my original plan.' She thought.

"Fine. I'll have some cake." She murmured.

"YAY!" Everypony shouted at once.

She grabbed a plate and got the smallest slice she could.

"No no, that won't do! You wont be able to get all the flavors!" Pinkie shouted, making Shock Wave lose her concentration, almost dropping the plate. "Here."

She was given a bigger slice. "Enjoy!" The pink pony sat in front of her, watching intently, a huge grin on her face.

Shock wave took a tentative bite. She resisted the urge to spit it out, instead swallowing the bite, trying not to gag. She never was one for sweets.

"I-it's... good." She faked a smile, and Pinkie Pie jumped into the air cheering.

She begrudgingly, and regretfully, finished the cake. Her stomach would hate her forever.

"Pinkie Pie! I'm here!" A voice behind her said.

Shock wave wiped her mouth, caring less about another of Pinkie Pies friends. She was more focused on not vomiting everywhere.

"Shock Wave! Come meet Twilight!" Pinkie said.

Shock waves heart stopped. Time seemed to slow down as she turned around. Suddenly everything came down to this one pony. This foul, vile, belittling pony.

"Hello. My name is Twilight Sparkle! It's nice to meet you." The purple pony of her nightmares was finally in front of her. Almost close enough to touch. Close enough to-

Shock waves vision went blurry, and she saw the floor rushing to meet her. The last thing she heard was Twilights voice.

"Shock wave? are you okay?"
