Twilight Sparkle walked down into her basement. She would create a talent enhancer for her and her friends. They didn't know yet, but she would tell them after they drank it... She started to get everything down that she would need. Some vials, a tub of water, some herbs, dangerous chemicals, and most importantly, her journal that held the recipe for it all.
She didn't know what would happen, or if it would even work, but then again, it might just work. After in deep thought, she finally had everything set up in a nice, neat order. She put her pristine, white lab coat on and some goggles. No telling what would happen even while she would work on this. She needed absolute concentration.
"SPIKE! Don't come down here! I'm going to create a potion that might become dangerous!" Twilight yelled.
"Ok! Just come up for dinner!" Spike answered back, like this was normal.
Twilight smiled in approval and started to get to work.
Spike started to get worried about Twilight. She has never been in that basement for that long. Even if it was super important. She had been locked up in there for many days, he has lost count. But, he soon heard a faint knock on the door.
"Twilight? You in there?" he heard a country accent. Spike ran over to open the door.
He opened up to five mares standing there he knew as his and Twilight's friends. He ushered them inside the tree library.
"Hi every- OOF!" Spike was knocked over by Rainbow Dash.
"Where's Twilight? She's been gone for a whole 2 weeks!" Rainbow Dash snorted. Spike stared up into her rose colored eyes.
"In her basement! She's been working on a potion and won't let me in! I swear!" Spike answered quickly.
They all looked at him for a moment to see if he was lying, but he looked concerned for Twilight, but shocked at the pegasus outburst. She let him up after Fluttershy put her hoof on her shoulder.
"What do you mean, new potion?" Rarity asked Spike. He started to break into a cold sweat before some rumbling came from under the rug.
"What the hay?" Applejack muttered before the rug slid off an opening hole. Out popped Twilight who held six vials in her telekinesis. She had the 'Lesson Zero' smile, looking like she hasn't slept in days.
"Hello, girls!" Twilight said in a sweet voice, that didn't match her looks at the moment. Her smile softened into her regular sweet, smile.
They all looked at the vials.They contained a liquid that changed colors. Everypony took a slight step so Twilight didn't see. Twilight followed their gaze towards the vials and she frowned.
"I see you found the vials, like I intended you to in a way." Twilight started to uncork the bottles containing the liquids. They all watched the smoke afraid of what might happen.
"Uh, may I ask one question, please?" Fluttershy asked in her timid manner. Twilight simply smiled, giving a nod yes. "What is that?" Fluttershy finally asked.
"These are talent enhancers! I thought you'd like to try it out!" Twilight urged on. Rainbow Dash looked at it like it was the thing to get her into the Wonderbolts, and her the captain.
"Are you sure that's a good idea, darling?" Rarity asked. Twilight nodded yes vigorously.
"I'll do it! I want to do it! Please let me do it!" Pinkie Pie jumped around Twilight when she stood up. "Go nuts." Twilight placed a vial in front of Pinkie Pie, who immediately drank it.
"The effects won't be immediate, so you have to wait." Twilight told her seriously. "Anypony else want to try?" Twilight asked the rest of her friends. They all looked at her and winced, except for Rainbow Dash who in turn grabbed a vial and drank it right up. Then they all let in and drank it. Twilight took the last one and drank it to the very last drop.
COO-KOO! COO-KOO! "Well looks like you should all go home. It's almost 7:00! I need to get my needs settled anyways, so bye!" Twilight ushered them all outside. They said their goodbyes and left home. They all felt tired, but then again thy drank a potion that could do anything.
Twilight woke up to a white ceiling. Wait, a white ceiling? She looked around the room. She was in a blue bed with a cloud storming out a rainbow lightning bolt and posters showing that the Wonderbolts would be coming soon or advertising that they're the best fliers in all of Equestria.
"Rainbow Dash? Are you up? Can we go practice my flying?" she heard a familiar voice.
"Rainbow Dash? I'm Twilight though..." Twilight thought. In came a little orange filly with a purple mane. "Scootaloo? Why are you here?" Twilight asked, with a change in her voice she didn't notice.
"Uhhhh... You said in the morning you would take me flying. Didn't you?" Scootaloo asked.
Twilight laid in the bed. "Wait a minute..." Twilight thought to herself. She slowly raised a blue hoof up to her head. She felt around and didn't find a horn and her hoof was blue, not purple. She looked at her sides to find a pair of wings. She ran into what looked like a bathroom.
She looked into the mirror and screamed at what she found. A rainbow mane, a cyan coat, rose colored eyes, and no horn, but wings. She turned around to Scootaloo who stood there confused.
Rarity woke up with a start. She had a terrible nightmare. But she then felt like she was in one. She wasn't in her four-poster bed. Instead she was in a plain old bed. Her room wasn't spacious like it always was. It was small enough for anyone to just sleep and put their stuff inside.
"Sis! Are you up yet? We gotta buck some apple trees today!" Apple Bloom yelled. "Why is Apple Bloom in my house? I don't remember having her for a sleepover!
"What do you mean? I gotta get to-" Rarity covered her hoof over her muzzle. She ran over to the little stand that had a mirror.
Instead of her sapphire eyes, a pair of emerald was in their spot. She had a light orange coat and a rustled up blonde mane. She turned over to the door and there sat a stetson hat, waiting to be worn.
"AHHHHH!" Rarity screamed. In came Apple Bloom. "What the hay's wrong sis'?" Apple Bloom asked. Rarity just shook her head no.
"No! No! Not this! I'm supposed to be Rarity!" she screamed. Apple Bloom looked confused. And Rarity fainted.
Fluttershy woke up with a sore stomach. "Ugh... my head." Fluttershy thought. "Where's Angel Bunny?" Fluttershy asked and she heard her voice sounding high-pitched. "What the-" she started but seen a huge cake by the side of her bed. She looked around her surroundings.
Lots of cakes and sweets around. Things looked like cake and if not, it was a color of pink or just white. What? That's what Pinkie Pie would want! Wait, cake, sweets, pink... "What's happening?!?" That's all Fluttershy could think as she raced to the bathroom.
The results shocked her. Her mane was pink and fluffy. Her coat was a lighter pink and her eyes were an electric blue. Fluttershy started to run off to somewhere in a blur.
Rainbow Dash woke up groggy. Her vision was blurry, but it soon started to clear up. "What the hay?" Rainbow Dash mumbled. She looked around the little room. "Twilight's house? How'd I get here?" She looked around. She was in her bed and definitely not a prank because this was her house.
She tried to fly, but she couldn't. She looked worried. She tried once more and nothing happened. Rainbow Dash looked at her sides to see what was wrong with her wings and sure enough there was. She had no wings and her coat was lavender, not cyan. She reached her hoof up and felt a horn. "I'm Twilight..." Rainbow Dash thought. "AHHHHHHHH!!" she screamed.
Spike woke up to see Twilight screaming. "What's wrong? Did the princess send something? Did you touch poison joke?" Spike asked with a rush of questions. All Rainbow did was scream.
Applejack woke up with a frown and felt so comfortable, but she never woke up this comfy. She looked at her bed and it was a huge four-poster bed with purple covers. Why did she have that? This looked like Rarity's room. She got up to get her hat, but it wasn't there.
"What's going on?" Applejack thought.
She went over to the mirror to see what was happening. She almost fainted from what she saw. Sapphire blue eyes and huge thick eyelashes. Her coat was a pristine white and her mane curled expertly. She was Rarity. She was about to scream before a sweet voice came.
"Are you up Rarity? I made breakfast!" Sweetie Belle shouted enthusiastically.
That made Applejack remain calm for a bit. "I'll be there in a bit, Sweetie!" she called back in a sing-song voice. She ran down to eat some breakfast.
"Remain calm. Sweetie Belle is here and she might think I'm crazy if I try to tell her I'm Applejack. I'll tell Twilight later.
Pinkie Pie woke up with a smile. She felt very happy. "Mr Cake! Mrs. Cake! I'm up!" Pinkie Pie shouted, but then she looked around. "I'm not at Sugarcube Corner! Or my bedroom! I'm at Fluttershy's! Oh! I should go over to AJ's so I can say hello!" Pinkie Pie shouted, not thinking that her voice sounded like Fluttershy's. "I should brush my mane first though! Well, I'll try!" Pinkie bounced over to the bathroom, startling creatures along the way.
When she arrived, she looked into the mirror to say 'Hi' to herself, like she always did in the morning. But instead of looking at herself, she found Fluttershy. Her long light pink mane and light yellow coat. And the soft, kind ocean blue eyes.
This didn't disturb Pinkie, but made her gasp. "I need to go to Twilight to tell her I'm Fluttershy!" and Pinkie flew off, even though she didn't know how to fly, but she flew really great.
Twilight flew down to the library after training Scootaloo the best she could. She hated having wings. After being raveled in those thoughts she found the library. She trotted up and opened up.
What shocked her was all of her friends were there. They were in a heated argument with her body, which looked scared. She didn't know what to do. So she did what Rainbow Dash would do.
She flew up and screamed, "QUIET!!!!" They all stopped and looked at her. She had her hooves crossed. She wasn't happy from the frown on her face.
"What do you want Rainbow? We need Twilight to help us!" Rarity yelled, which was very unlikely of her. "Why do you need her help? I need her help way more than you!" Twilight shouted. "We need her because I'm Pinkie Pie and I don't know where Fluttershy is though!" Fluttershy bounced.
Twilight looked confused. "What do you mean, 'I'm Pinkie Pie'?" Twilight asked slyly. "I'm Pinkie Pie in Fluttershy's body!" she replied bouncing. "Yep. That's Pinkie Pie alright." Twilight thought.
"Well then who's who!?!" Twilight asked frustrated. Applejack and Rarity pointed at each other and so did Fluttershy and Pinkie Pie. She glanced at herself. "Well, hello Rainbow Dash." Twilight cooed. Rainbow Dash slunk back into a bookshelf, smiling cheesy.
Twilight just sighed and looked at everypony else. She tried to think up a plan, but it was going to be hard. Well, our families will need to know. And until then, we have to find a cure. Maybe that will work...
"I have a plan girls! Everypony, get your family here. Well, at least get the closest people you know and we'll figure something out!" Twilight exclaimed. "Why our families? Sweetie Belle will freak out!" Rarity raced around. "If they don't know, then they'll think we're going crazy! Do you want that to happen, Apple- I mean, Rarity!" Twilight stuttered.
Everypony shook their heads no and started heading out, except for Twilight and Rainbow Dash. They looked at each other, with Rainbow Dash's mouth hanging wide open.
"Thanks. Just don't go around cramping my style, though!" Rainbow tried to joke. Twilight simply smiled.
Everypony was gathered at the Golden Oaks Library. They had gotten a letter stating that there was a matter concerning the Mane 6. They were all crowded in there. The Crusaders, the Apple Family, the Belle Family, the Sparkle Family and the Royal Princesses. They had a bit of small chat while they waited for them.
Finally they arrived. They looked at each of them. They were all shocked at what they were doing. Rarity was wearing Applejacks stetson hat and covered in dirt. Applejack had her mane like she did in Manehatten when she was little. Fluttershy was bouncing and Pinkie Pie was trying to shy away from everypony. Twilight was a mess with soot on her while Rainbow Dash was in front like Twilight would be. Everypony just stood there in complete silence.
It was Princess Luna who broke the silence. "Are thou alright, girls?" Luna asked with concern. "We aren't, Princess. I'm afraid I did something on accident." Rainbow Dash replied.
Luna and Celestia looked at each other with surprise. "Then why should we be here? You must have just crashed into a building or something like that. Right?" Sweetie Belle asked. "I wouldn't do that!" Twilight yelled. "I'm so confused. Twilight, you don't have wings!" Shining Armor calmly said.
"Ahem, I do right now." Rainbow Dash said. "Now let me explain. We drank a potion that I made and we switched bodies. I'm Twilight and Rainbow Dash is me." Rainbow Dash professionally said.
"Well then, I know I have to believe you. So who's who?" Princess Celestia asked. They pointed at their bodies. "I won't believe you until you can prove it! So prove it!" an irate Scootaoo yelled. She didn't like the thought of her idol being a unicorn and Twilight having wings.
The real Rainbow Dash tilted her head and thought. She walked over to Scootaloo and whispered in her ear. "You can't fly because you have waited for my lessons. And if you don't believe me there, you have a doll of me that you made." Rainbow Dash lifted her head up and looked down at Scootaloo who was in awe.
Scootaloo jumped onto Rainbow Dash who fell over from the force. Scootaloo hugged her tightly and cried out. "It is you! I'm so sorry for doubting you, all of you!" Rainbow Dash felt weak. "Can you get up? I'm in Twilight's body so I'm weak." Rainbow Dash joked, getting a glare from Twilight. Scootaloo got up, blushing. Princess Celestia walked towards the Mane 6,
"So now we know of this problem, how are we going to fix it?" Celestia questioned. They looked at each other and facehoofed at the same time. "I don't know. I think we might have to use a potion from a book. I've been looking for a possibility of this swap to find out which ingredient caused this. Lets hope that the antidote will work." Twilight said.
Everypony looked at her. "I still can't get over the fact that you're Rainbow Dash and you said that while in her body." Shining Armor replied pointing his hoof at Twilight. She blushed. "And I said don't cramp my style!" Rainbow added on to Shining's comment.
"But now we know who's who and that they aren' them, shouldn' they come to their minds home or go to the body's home? I'm confused now." Apple Bloom asked, massaging her head with a hoof. "I think we should go to where we feel comfortable. Where we know our way around." Fluttershy commented. They all agreed on it, except for Rainbow Dash.
"What about me? I live on a cloud? And I'm not a pegasus anymore!" Rainbow Dash yelled across the room. "You can stay with me, Rainbow. It's getting late now. Everypony should go to home now. Goodnight!" Twilight instructed. Everypony started walking out the door, but Princess Celestia stopped by Twilight.
She smiled at her and leaned down. "If you need help, send a letter to me, okay?" Celestia asked. Twilight shook her head yes and smiled. Princess Celestia and Princess Luna walked out the door and took off in the night. Rainbow Dash and Twilight looked at each other and sighed. They both knew that this would take a while.
Everypony was searching for a cure to the swap. They had to fix this soon because other ponies were starting to notice. It was the start of a problem that might not be fixed. Half of the library was searched but with no luck!
"Alright. Everypony, stop. I think we need something to eat for lunch," Twilight told everypony. They started to leave for Sugarcube Corner for something sweet, but then Spike came running down from Twilight's bedroom with a letter from the Princess.
Twilight looked at him with a confused look. "What is it Spike?" Twilight asked, a bit tired. He smiled big. Everypony was getting nervous and confused. "What is it, darling?" Rarity asked.
"They found a cure! Princess Celestia said in the letter that they found a spell!" Spike yelled. He was happy for this because he didn't have to follow Rarity around getting weird looks at him from other ponies for following who they thought was Applejack.
"Well, let us see the letter, silly Spike!" Pinkie Pie flew down and grabbed the letter. Then everypony gathered around her as she started to read the letter. It read:
Dear Twilight and friends, We have found a spell that will fix your little problem! Luna and I will see to you tomorrow. Please come tomorrow on the train to Canterlot. Signed, Princess Celestia
They all looked at each other and squealed. "I can't wait to have everything back to normal! I had to do so much to get the dirt off my hooves and make them shine!" Rarity covered her muzzle with her hoof.
Applejack looked at her and started to rage. "You did what!?! I thought me and you had an agreement to not do that! I wouldn't get dirty and you wouldn't make me look any more girly!" Applejack huffed.
Rarity sighed. "I just couldn't let your hooves get dirtier!" Rarity whined.
"Stop! Just make up and hug!" Rainbow Dash shouted, getting irritated with their little argument. They both crossed their hooves and muttered, "Fine." They hugged. Rainbow Dash looked pleased with herself.
"Now lets go get some food!" Pinkie Pie flew off with a start. Everypony started galloping after her. They wanted their food after a hard day of work!
Discord walked up onto the scene. "So they are switched? Oh, don't tell me the Princesses found the cure!" Discord whined. "How do you know I'm here?" I asked. "I dunno. I hang out with Pinkie Pie too much though." Discord snapped his fingers and was gone. Remind me to put a bell on him!
Twilight and her friends going to be on the next train to Canterlot. They waited a day and were excited to be back to their old selves. Everypony around them was whispering to each other, wondering if they were going to do something exciting like throw a party and crash one in the process. But they weren't. This was going to be even better.
Fluttershy was sitting down, writing another letter to Discord. Rainbow Dash and Pinkie Pie were planning a prank. Applejack and Rarity were discussing about the switch, leaving Twilight to sit and look out the window. Spike came along, too, but he was taking a nap.
What's going to happen in Canterlot? What will happen in the castle? I have a bad feeling about this, Twilight thought before trotting over to her friends. The train had just arrived in Canterlot when she was about to talk. She was having a bad day. She hoped it wouldn't get any worse.
All the ponies trotted into the the enormous castle of Canterlot. Everypony was giggling, trying to hold their excitement in. They thought of going into Donut Joe's shop to celebrate right now, but they wanted their bodies back. So they were, of course, galloping to the throne room.
As soon as they entered the throne room, the princesses looked up. They galloped to the Elements of Harmony. "Let's go into another room. The griffon ambassador might come soon," Princess Celestia whispered to them. They nodded and followed the princesses quietly.
When they walked inside the library, the Mane 6 were shaking with excitement. Celestia was preparing the spell. They didn't notice a shadow dash past them.
While they were frolicking about, Celestia and Luna were almost done to prepare the spell. "Please stop jumping, or else you'll be switched further," Luna scolded with a lame tone.
Right before the spell was done, a flash appeared as the spell carried on. Nopony seemed to notice it. Another flash occured, but was supposed to happen.
With the spell done, everypony looked around to see if they were back to normal. The shadow disappeared. Celestia looked to see herself and the Mane 6. Great. Luna is me I bet and now I'm Luna. Everypony started to panic, save the princesses.
"Stop! We must figure who is who now!" Luna yelled, with a hint of Celestia in her voice. Once they figured who was who, they calmed.
"We must hurry up and resolve this issue," Luna instructed. "But first," she started, trotting to the door, "let us get some food."
