Twilight has fallen for an alicorn that has moved into Ponyville. But once they fall in love, they are involved in the plot for an ancient alicorn enemy to return much stronger than any other, even stronger than Luna or Celestia.
It was a beautiful afternoon in the land of Equestria, the sun was shining, the flowers were blooming and the birds were chirping. Twilight Sparkle was in her library, reading books as usual. Twilight was reading a book called "Love Never Fails", it was a romance book about two ponies that fall in love while the girl's friends attempt to prevent them from being in love. Twilight was just about to read the part where the girl pony is forbidden from seeing the boy by her friends… until Spike came into the room.
"Hey Twilight." Spike said, closing the door behind him. "Hello Spike." Twilight said, her eyes dug into the book she was reading. Spike noticed that she was digging into the book, reading it. "What are you reading there?" Spike asked out of curiosity. Twilight looked at Spike briefly and said "Oh, it's a romance novel. It can be sad too." Spike walked over to Twilight Sparkle and stated "Twilight, it's about time that you got your head out of those books and started to talk more with your friends. I mean after all, Princess Celestia requested that you make friends." "I know, but this book is really interesting that I must-".
There was a lot of banging at the door and Spike went over to answer the front door, curious and annoyed by the loud banging. Upon opening the door, Rainbow Dash just charged in and went over to Twilight Sparkle as if she had news for Twilight. "Twilight, you should come with me! There's a new pony in town and he's really cute!" "Not now, Rainbow Dash, I really have to read up on this great book." "Oh you can do that anytime! Now come!" Rainbow Dash literally had to drag Twilight out of her home just to convince her to come. Finally, Twilight decided that she would go, as Rainbow Dash said that the new pony could be worth her while and might have the same interests as her.
"What's the big deal with the new pony?" Twilight asked. "Oh, everyone seems to have fallen in love with him and is too shy to ask him out. But who knows, he might ask you out." Rainbow Dash said, looking convinced that Twilight and the new pony would be a cute couple.
Twilight had no comment to Dash's convinced look at her and continued to clop to town where the new pony was being introduced to everypony. When she and Rainbow Dash arrived, there was a large crowd of ponies and unicorns surrounding a building, where Princess Celestia was to announce the new pony in town. Twilight and Dash squeezed through the crowd to get to their other friends, Rarity, Pinkie Pie, Fluttershy and Applejack. "Why the big deal over someone new in town? It's just a new pony." Twilight Sparkle said, getting slightly annoyed that everyone making such a big deal over something that isn't necessarily needed.
"Oh Twilight, come on. You might like the guy." Applejack said, trying to get her into the craze. But it seemed like convincing her wouldn't be easy, unless she immediately caught interest like all the other girl ponies. Finally, after a good 2 minutes of waiting, Princess Celestia finally came onto the stage and looked at everypony. "Everypony! I welcome the newest pony into Ponyville! He is a kind gentleman and has survived many dangers! Here he is… the one… the only… Smarty Heart!". A cloud of smoke appeared and a male pony came out of the smoke.
Smarty Heart was a purple skinned Unicorn with a dark purple mane and had short wings. Everypony was amazed and began to cheer for him, going crazy in the process. Most of the girl ponies were love-struck by Smarty Heart's appearance and ended up cheering for him the most. Pinkie Pie at one point shouted "You're my hero, Smarty Heart!" and blew a kiss at him.
Smarty Heart was smiling and whipping his mane back and forth. Applejack was cheering and said "See? He doesn't look bad Twilight, you'll get to know him and be a huge fan of him like us!" But Twilight seemed to be dazed out, staring at Smarty Heart. Everything was slowing down. Smarty Heart was looking straight into Twilight Sparkle's eyes. It was a loved feeling that Twilight Sparkle had never felt before. She was falling for the new pony in town.
She began to smile at the Unicorn, having felt warm and comforted. Smarty Heart then blew a kiss at all the girl ponies in the crowd. Twilight Sparkle didn't even react, she was just smiling at him and gazing, imagining she and Smarty Heart kissing at a sunset, on a balcony in Canterlot. Rarity soon noticed that Twilight Sparkle began to blush. "Why Twilight… is that a blush I see?" she said, the white Unicorn smiling. But Twilight Sparkle was too dazed out to even talk to Rarity, she just kept staring endlessly at Smarty Heart.

After the introduction was over, Twilight Sparkle started to follow Smarty Heart as he was leaving to the comfort of his own home. Keeping hidden, she would peek out behind Smarty Heart whom was smiling and walking by through the night. "Hi!" A voice jumped out behind Twilight Sparkle, startling the purple unicorn. It was only Pinkie Pie, her friend. "Pinkie Pie, why do you startle me?" Twilight annoyingly said. "Oh, Rarity told me that you were blushing at the sight of Smarty Heart. Do you… like him?". Twilight Sparkle tried to hide the blush, but Pinkie Pie saw the rosy cheeks she had. "OH! I knew it! You have a crush on him!" Pinkie Pie stated out loud. "I do not!" Twilight shouted, trying to hide the blush from everyone else.
But Pinkie Pie just began to tease her more, so Twilight Sparkle started to chase her around Ponyville. Once Pinkie Pie retreated, Twilight Sparkle continued to follow Smarty Heart to his humble home. At one point, Smarty Heart stopped for a moment and thought someone was following him, so he turned around and began to scan his eyes to see. Twilight Sparkle on the other hand, was hiding whenever he turned around. Finally after a few moments, Smarty Heart brushed it off and continued home. When he arrived home, Twilight watched him enter his home and turn on his lights. From what Twilight Sparkle saw, there was a bookshelf with mountains of books, she clopped up closer for a better look and saw Smarty Heart reading a book quietly.
Twilight Sparkle was backing up, because she really didn't want to look like a spy. As she backed up, she bumped into somepony and noticed it was Fluttershy, who was giving Twilight Sparkle an invitation to a party where everypony in Ponyville would all play games and have fun. Twilight Sparkle looked at the invitation and began to think for a moment. She could invite Smarty Heart to the party and attempt to ask him out and confess, but then she thought for a moment and decided that she should read a book about tips on asking a colt out.
So she clopped back to her home and entered, sitting at her desk, pushing the book she was reading off the desk and called for Spike to get her the book on "Tips for Love". Spike grabbed the book in the T section and handed it to Twilight Sparkle. The unicorn slowly began to read the book. Upon reading Part 1 of the book, she was reading that making a date with a boy unicorn wouldn't be easy and needed time. So it suggested to Twilight Sparkle that she start being friends with her first, unless the Unicorn was a romantic type. If the Unicorn was romantic, it wouldn't be a problem. She began to continue reading through the night, preparing for tomorrow night's party.
Morning came and today was going to be the night that Twilight Sparkle would confess to Smarty Heart. But she had to prepare because she wanted to make herself look attractive to the crush she had on the unicorn. All night, she was reading the book on "Tips for Love" and ended up feeling tired when she finished it at 2:06am before passing out and dreaming about her and Smarty Heart finally together and holding hooves, kissing romantically at a sunset.
But when she woke up from the dream, she cried for a few minutes because the dream never actually happened, but she wished that it did. She walked into her kitchen and grabbed the Apple Crunch cereal in her pantry and got a bowl from her cupboard. She poured the cereal and milk into the bowl and started to munch away at the crunchy apple-tasting cereal. She just couldn't get Smarty Heart out of her mind. She would just imagine that Smarty Heart was eating breakfast with her and winking at her.
Twilight Sparkle softly sighed happily, and started winking at the wall when she thought that Smarty Heart was right in front of her. But all of a sudden, Spike walked into the room and saw that Twilight Sparkle was winking at the wall. "Twilight, what are you doing?" Spike asked, scaring the living daylights out of Twilight Sparkle. "Oh man! Do not disturb me while I have my breakfast! I have an important night tonight!" Twilight Sparkle said, brushing her mane in the process.
"Well sorry, but it is good that you got off the books for a while. But anyways, I've been hearing that you've been swooning over a boy. Is it the new pony in town? Don't worry, I won't tell!" Spike said. "Sorry Spike, but it's my secret. I can't tell." "Please!" Spike begged. "No." Twilight Sparkle said, crossing her hooves.
At that point, Spike did very big sad puppy eyes and whined. Twilight Sparkle said "Ugh. Fine I'll tell you. It is the new pony." "Oh you mean that pony Smarty Heart? I did think that you and him would be cute together." "Why thank you Spike.". Twilight Sparkle then got into her drawers and started to search for a dress to wear at the party. "Why are you getting your dress, Twilight? The party isn't even until tonight." Spike said while Twilight ravaged through the wardrobes, closets and drawers looking for a dress. But Twilight Sparkle didn't respond, she just grabbed her purple dress and set it onto the bed.
"Sorry Spike, but I don't have time to talk. I have to show off my dress and show it off this afternoon to try to impress Smarty Heart. And then, I head to the party where I try to have Smarty Heart." Twilight Sparkle said, taking a breath after explaining her plan to Spike. She put on her purple dress and went out of her home, leaving Spike there standing with a stack of books.

Twilight Sparkle clopped through Ponyville showing off her dress to everyone, whom was amazed. At this point, Rarity came up to Twilight Sparkle and said "Why Twilight, you have your dress out today. Is it for the party?" Twilight then said, looking at Rarity. "Oh it's for a pony that I like and have a crush on. Maybe this will impress him.". Rarity thought for a moment, then asked "Who is this pony you like? Is it the new pony, Smarty Heart?"
At that point, an annoyed Twilight Sparkle said "Yes, yes. It is." Then there was a bunch of happy screaming nearby in the central area. Twilight clopped over there with her dress on and saw Smarty Heart going around and impressing everyone with his beauty. Twilight gulped, worrying of what Smarty Heart would think of her. She kept thinking that it might either be good or it might be a bad reaction. Rarity gave her a light friendly push and smiled at her, saying "Go on. He'll be impressed." Twilight then stepped through the crowd towards Smarty Heart.
Pinkie Pie in the crowd was cheering louder than everyone in the crowd. She was cheering for Smarty Heart, with a party cannon in motion, firing confetti everywhere. It seemed that Smarty Heart definitely was famous. Smarty Heart whipped his mane back and forth, making some girl ponies faint in happiness. "We love you Smarty Heart!" Pinkie Pie shouted from her party cannon and fired more confetti out of the cannon.
When Twilight Sparkle reached the front of the crowd, she watched Smarty Heart get onto the stage to make a speech. She then went forward, staring at Smarty Heart in the process. One Pegasus in the crowd noticed that Twilight Sparkle was stepping forward with her dress on and yelled "Hey! Are you trying to get his attention? He's mine!"
Twilight Sparkle turned to the Pegasus and yelled "Hey, I'm just showing off my dress to him!" The Pegasus in the crowd clopped over to Twilight Sparkle and she toppled Twilight Sparkle onto the ground. "Hey!" Twilight Sparkle yelled. "I tell you that he's mine!" The Pegasus fan angrily said. "Leave her alone!" Rarity yelled, trying to intervene. "Keep quiet, pony!" The Pegasus racistly said, and kicked Twilight Sparkle with her front hoof. Twilight Sparkle screamed, the pain of the Pegasus's kick was hurtful to her and felt like she was being trampled by a bully. Fluttershy, who saw the whole thing, went up to the Pegasus and angrily said
"You hurt my friend! That's not nice for you to do that, you should apologize right now!" The only response that Fluttershy got was a hoof to the face, causing a fight to break out between the two Pegasus. Twilight Sparkle tried to get up, but with the pain that the Pegasus gave to her, she was too weak and just laid there, hurt. She then felt a levitation lifting her, and she was put onto the top of Smarty Heart.
Twilight Sparkle weakly blushed as Smarty Heart was carrying her somewhere in Ponyville. She felt like it was going to be a long walk for hours that Smarty Heart was doing. But before she could realize where Smarty Heart was taking her, she passed out from the harmful kick.

Twilight Sparkle felt like she had been sleeping for hours and woke up to the sound of water in a bucket and the comfort of a warm bed. Smarty Heart was using his horn to put some warm water in a cloth. Smarty Heart smiled when he saw her awake and smiled. "You passed out…" He gently said and started using the cloth to gently rub it on the part where the Pegasus kicked her. Twilight Sparkle gazed at him, he just saved her life. "I'm sorry about what happened. That wasn't supposed to happen." He said, replacing the warm cloth with a cloth with ice in it, he placed it on the pain to cool it down.
Twilight Sparkle said "Well Smarty Heart, you saved my life and I'm grateful for it. Wait… the dress I wore. Where'd it go?" Twilight Sparkle just noticed that her dress was gone, but then Smarty Heart pointed behind her and her dress was safe and sound. "I took off the dress to let you rest on my bed, but it's okay that you're safe and sound." Twilight Sparkle said "Thank you again for saving me. My name is Twilight Sparkle and I am a student of Princess Celestia."
Smarty Heart gently stroked her soft mane with his hoof and said "It's a beautiful name Twilight Sparkle." Twilight Sparkle blushed, feeling warm around him. She then thought in her head, "Yes he's mine!" After moments of silence, Twilight Sparkle asked "After you fix up my injury, w-would you like to go to the party with me?" Smarty Heart said "Sadly, I have to stay and heal you. But we can stay here and talk together, get to know each other." "I would like that very much. Do you have any books we can read?" Twilight Sparkle asked, blushing that she asked if he and she would read books together.
"Why yes, I do of course. And I'll even show you the planets through my telescope." Smarty Heart replied convincingly. "You have a telescope? I can't even get one of those things. Of course, I'd love to see the planets with you." Twilight said, blushing at the sight of Smarty Heart. Smarty Heart looked through the bookshelf and grabbed a book called "Hanging Gardens". "Here, I'll read this book with you. He then squeezed next to Twilight Sparkle and opened to the first chapter of the book. Twilight Sparkle blushed heavily, but was gazing at Smarty Heart romantically. She then thought "Oh boy, I am a really lucky Unicorn, but is he the one for me? I'm not sure. Maybe he has someone he loves, but I'll try loving him first and see if he likes me." She then put her hoof around Smarty Heart, gently stroking his mane, and in return Smarty Heart put his hoof around her, comforting her. Twilight Sparkle and Smarty Heart then gazed at each other. Smarty Heart smiled at her, and thought "I think she is the one, I know she is…"
Twilight Sparkle was gently rubbing faces with Smarty Heart, he felt so warm, soft, and he felt like an angel. Twilight Sparkle then began to cuddle up to him, with Smarty Heart smiling and giggling. "You really enjoy my company, don't you?" Smarty Heart said, giggling more. "Why yes I do." Twilight said, stroking his soft mane. Smarty Heart blushed, and began to sing a song softly. Twilight Sparkle got curious, what kind of song was he singing. "What song are you singing?" Twilight Sparkle asked, her hoof around Smarty Heart. "Oh, it's a romance song." Smarty Heart said.
"That's awesome, what's the song called?" Twilight Sparkle praised and asked again. "It's called I Could Use A Little Love." Twilight Sparkle at this point, giggled, cuddling him more. Her warm unicorn body squeezing next to his, she began to hold Smarty Heart's hoof. But before she could give Smarty Heart a kiss on the cheek… Rainbow Dash burst in through the door, interrupting the two Unicorns. "Twilight Sparkle! I was so worried about what had happened this morning! If only I was there to help!" Rainbow Dash said, scolding herself for being held up in Cloudsdale at the time the attack happened.
Smarty Heart took the bull by the horn and at this point said "Do not worry, I have cured her wound from the Pegasus. Who told you we were here?" "Rarity did, one of Twilight Sparkle's friends." Rainbow Dash said, crossing her hooves. Smarty Heart thought for a moment "She means the white Unicorn, am I right? I'm not sure, but she had seemed to help Twilight Sparkle out. That's good news! I could make friends with all of Twilight Sparkle's friends, so they could have my full trust, but not in a romantic way. Because I think Twilight Sparkle likes me, but am I the right one for her? I don't know, but I'm about to find out!" Finally, Smarty Heart said "Ah okay." "Well, the party's going to start soon. Are you guys coming or not? It'll be the party of the century!" Rainbow Dash said in a rushed, enthusiastic tone.
Twilight Sparkle just said, "We can't right now Rainbow Dash. Me and him are busy at the moment." "Oh for Celestia's sake, come on! You always turn down a party!" Rainbow Dash said, finally getting annoyed and started to drag both Smarty Heart and Twilight Sparkle off the bed and out of Smarty Heart's home. "Fine! We'll go to the party." Twilight Sparkle said, annoyed that she couldn't have her private time with Smarty Heart at his home. Smarty Heart smiled and stroked Twilight Sparkle's mane, saying "Don't worry, I'm sure we'll have lots of fun." Twilight Sparkle blushed once again, held onto Smarty Heart's hoof and they both went to the party.

At the party, there was dancing, a DJ, a clown, a spin the bottle game, a pool, music, swimming, cuddling, kissing, partying, ponies going wild, cheering, apple pie, apple crunch, apple sauce, apple crisp, apple tarts, apple everything! Pretty much anything was everything everypony loved. Smarty Heart and Twilight Sparkle just ended up sitting on a couch, flirting and holding hooves. "You are as beautiful as the night, Twilight." Smarty Heart said, stroking her soft cheeks. Twilight Sparkle felt flattered, blushing. But Twilight Sparkle felt disappointed inside, there still was no first kiss that she or Smarty Heart attempted. But she still had high hopes, hoping it will happen soon.
"You are my sweet chocolate that I love, Smarty Heart." Twilight Sparkle flirted back, blushing still. Then Pinkie Pie jumped out of nowhere, scaring both the Unicorns. "Hi Twilight Sparkle! Hi Smarty Heart!" Pinkie Pie yelled excitingly, jumping up and down all over the place. "Ummm, Pinkie Pie, me and Smarty need some privacy together. We don't really have time for your fun." Twilight Sparkle said, trying to defend herself and Smarty Heart from the teasing soon to come. "Oh! It's because you like-" Pinkie Pie started to say until she was interrupted by an apple being put into her mouth by Twilight Sparkle, preventing her from finishing her sentence. "Why'd you put the apple in her mouth?" Smarty Heart, having a curiosity on why Twilight had to keep Pinkie Pie quiet. "Oh, my friend Pinkie Pie can have somewhat of a big mouth sometimes and can't keep it secret." Twilight said, defending the two.
Smarty Heart just said a simple "Oh." and continued to flirt with Twilight Sparkle. "My lovely unicorn, it is such a beautiful night outside. Shall we go for a walk outside?" Smarty Heart romantically asked, stroking Twilight's mane once again. Twilight Sparkle got nervous at this point and thought "Hmmm, I should accept the offer that he's given me. If I don't, I might end up upsetting him easily and he might run away." Twilight Sparkle shook her head up and down and said "Sure.". Smarty Heart was happy to hear this and opened the front door for him and Twilight. Watching the two unicorns leave, Rainbow Dash kept wondering why Twilight Sparkle was chilling with the new pony. "What's with her? I think Twilight's hooked onto him like a magnet." Rainbow Dash said, crossing her hooves.
"Oh Dash, don't be silly! I think she's in love!" Rarity said, looking at Rainbow Dash. "How can you be sure? There's no evidence… yet." Rainbow Dash muttered loudly, looking at the two purple unicorns holding hooves. "I'm sure the two will fall in love, I know it in my heart." Rarity said, watching the two go off to the lake. Then, Rarity and Rainbow Dash heard a throat clearing behind them and they turned around and saw Fluttershy with lots of bruises and a black eye. "Man, I can't believe I had to fight the Pegasus. But she was being mean to my friend, Twilight Sparkle!" She said, angrily.
She was angry that both she and the Pegasus had been fighting today and ended up injuring one another. But it was necessary to save her friend from being bullied. "It was probably another super-obsessed fan of Smarty Heart." Applejack said, approaching the three. Fluttershy refused to hear more about the fan and had to drop the conversation about her to prevent more argument. Applejack then said "So how's the two unicorns? Are they getting along well?" "We're about to find out later, but for now, let's keep a distance." Rainbow Dash said, beginning to think of a plan to find out if Twilight Sparkle does like the new pony.

At the lake, Twilight Sparkle and Smarty Heart sat on a bench together. Smarty Heard had a hoof around Twilight, and Twilight was resting her head on Smarty Heart's shoulder. After thinking for some time, Twilight thought it would be a good time to get to know more about Smarty Heart and said "So… tell me about yourself? We never really got to introduce ourselves at the beginning… well I did." Smarty Heart looked at Twilight Sparkle and said, "Well, I grew up in the far side of Canterlot. Nobody in Canterlot has really heard of it though.
As a young pony, my dream was to enter the Royal Celestia School of Gifted Unicorns, but it never happened. I, instead began to read books and study the stars and planets. But my father refused to let me and tried to get me into music and business. But I refused his offer and went back to looking at the planets. But I do know all the constellations now, since I read from a book about Astronomy." The entire time, Twilight Sparkle was gazing romantically at him, listening to every word he said. "Uhh, Twilight. You okay?" Smarty Heart asked, looking at her. Twilight Sparkle then realized what was going on and shook her head, then said "Yes, I'm okay. I'm just a little tired, that's all."
Smarty Heart got suspicious, and after a couple of seconds of silence, he finally smiled, began holding her hooves and said "Twilight… do you like me?" Twilight Sparkle blushed heavily and quietly said "Yes." Smarty Heart was happy to hear the word "Yes" come out of her mouth and smiled more, saying "You know what? I like you too. We have so much in common." He then noticed that Twilight Sparkle looked a little tired and asked "Want me to take you home? You look tired." The tired lavender unicorn yawned and said "Sure." Smarty Heart then smiled and began to walk with Twilight Sparkle back to her home.
When they arrived at Twilight Sparkle's house, Twilight Sparkle looked at Smarty Heart. It was a great night she had and hoped that she could have fun with him again. "It was a wonderful night, Smarty Heart. I had so much fun with you." She said. "I had a great night too." Smarty Heart said, and then the two unicorns leaned in and shared a very passionate first kiss, their lips pressed gently against one another.
After the kiss, Twilight blushed and said "Smarty Heart… would you like to go on a date with me sometime?" Smarty Heart smiled and said "Of course, anything for you." Twilight smiled, said goodbye to Smarty Heart and went into her home. After Smarty Heart went home happy, she screamed like a happy pony. It was the best night of her life. She then went to sleep, starting to dream about Smarty Heart once again.
It was yet again, another beautiful morning in the land of Equestria. Twilight Sparkle was having a cool dream where she had wings and was racing Rainbow Dash in the skies of Cloudsdale. After crashing Rainbow Dash into some clouds, she was about to reach the finish line until Spike screamed loudly into her left ear for her to wake up.
Twilight Sparkle was startled and screamed loudly, flying up into the air and flying back down onto the bed. "Aww dang it!" Twilight Sparkle groaned as she got out of bed and looked at Spike. "Well, it's time for me to have breakfast. After all, it's going to be an important day to me. Good morning, Spike." Twilight said, rubbing her tired eyes with her hooves.
"Good morning Twilight Sparkle. And yes, I know about the day." Spike said, in his happy tone as usual. Twilight Sparkle yawned once again and went to her bathroom, combing her mane. "I already know what I plan to do with Smarty Heart. I plan to surprise him with a romantic lunch, after that me and him will go to the Forest and, oh you know." Twilight Sparkle said, blushing.
After combing her mane, she went downstairs into the kitchen and grabbed the Apple Crunch cereal as usual, poured herself a bowl of the cereal, brought it into his basement, and turned on her Ponybox 360 to play some Ponyrim. When she was done defeating Discord, there was a knock at her door.
Twilight Sparkle checked the time and noticed that she had been playing for some time and it was already the afternoon. She shut off her Ponybox 360, went upstairs and noticed that Spike had already opened the door for the purple unicorn, Smarty Heart. "The gentleman has arrived, Twilight Sparkle." Spike said, and went upstairs.
Twilight Sparkle and Smarty Heart were staring at each other for a few moments before Twilight clopped over to Smarty Heart and gave him a romantic hug. "I missed you, my love." Smarty Heart said, smiling. Twilight Sparkle raised her head and pressed her soft lips on his cheek, kissing the cheek with smooth passion. Smarty Heart smiled more and said "So, what do you want to do for our first date?" Twilight Sparkle at this point, blushed saying
"Oh, I was thinking a romantic lunch out in the valley and later, me and you go to the Everfree Forest in private and… oh, you know." Smarty Heart felt flattered and said "Alright. Do you have the lunch?" Twilight Sparkle held up the basket of their lunch and said "Of course I do." Smarty Heart then said "Well, let's head out then, beautiful." Twilight Sparkle smiled and went out of her home with Smarty Heart, using her magic unicorn horn to carry the basket. "While we are eating lunch, I can read you a book if that's alright with you." Smarty Heart asked in request. "Okay, I love a good book." Twilight Sparkle said, holding hooves with Smarty Heart.
Along the way to the fields, Rainbow Dash was monitoring the afternoon sky as usual to check for weather disturbances, but upon looking down and seeing both Twilight Sparkle and Smarty Heart, she flew down to them, surprising them in the process. "Hello guys." Rainbow Dash simply said. "Good afternoon to you, Dash." Smarty Heart said. Rainbow Dash wasn't one to pull people away to have a little fun with Pinkie Pie, but she didn't want her friend Twilight Sparkle going crazy over Smarty Heart and hanging out with him all the time, so she went in-between the two Unicorns. "C'mon guys, Pinkie Pie is hosting a great afternoon party. Everyone is invited, so why don't you guys come?" Rainbow Dash asked with a convincing tone.
"Sorry Dash, but me and Smarty Heart just can't simply ditch the plans for our date." Twilight Sparkle said, looking at Rainbow Dash. "Oh, of course you say that cause- Wait, what? You guys are dating?" Rainbow Dash said, shocked to hear that Twilight Sparkle was dating Smarty Heart. "Of course, she just said that." Smarty Heart said, trying to not make Rainbow Dash look stupid. "Now if you'll excuse us Dash, me and Smarty Heart have a date to proceed with." Twilight Sparkle said, walking off with Smarty Heart. Rainbow Dash was obviously annoyed at this and flew off to Rarity's house to notify her of the situation.

At Rarity's home, Rarity was preparing a dress to be sold to another pony, until there was lots of loud furious banging on her door. "I'm coming! Calm down!" Rarity hanged the dress and clopped over to her front door, opening it to see an exhausted Rainbow Dash. "Rainbow Dash, why have you come to me this fine afternoon day?" Rarity said with concern. "It's both Smarty Heart and Twilight Sparkle! They're- They're dating!" Rainbow Dash said, taking breaths. "They're dating? Awww, I knew Twilight could do it!" Rarity said, happy to hear the news.
"There's nothing good about it, Twilight's our friend, and she might end up distancing herself from the Mane 6, making it the Mane 5 once again!" Rainbow Dash said in anger and worry. "Oh Dash, get a hold of yourself. She's still our friend, after all Princess Celestia sent her to reside here in Ponyville. Nothing bad is going to happen." Rarity convinced, being absolutely sure that nothing will affect any friendships Twilight Sparkle has.
"Well, I don't know about that. Something feels different about Twilight." Rainbow Dash said in worry, no longer in anger. Rarity put her hoof on her Pegasus friend and said "Now now Dash, Don't fret. You never know, it could turn out good for them, so please have some honesty for them, okay?" Rainbow Dash took a breath and said "Alright then, but I'll keep a monitor on them just in case."

Meanwhile in the fields of Equestria, Twilight Sparkle and Smarty Heart were having lunch on a log that laid there. Twilight Sparkle was eating a piece of chocolate cake made at the Sugarcube Corner. Smarty Heart on the other hand, was eating a Hamburger, made from cows. At first, Twilight was sort of disgusted, but Smarty Heart didn't really care and offered her a bite which Twilight Sparkle accepted nervously at first, but when she first swallowed it, she realized that it did not taste bad and was really good.
"You know, when the night comes in a few hours, you could show me the planets." Twilight asked in request. "I was going to ask you that, but sure, I can show you the planets at night. Oh, and when we've finished lunch, you can get on my back and I can fly you all around Equestria and Canterlot." Smarty Heart said, winking. "But Smarty Heart, we might accidently be marked as intruders to the Canterlot airspace." Twilight said in concern, blushing.
"Oh don't worry, they'll never catch me and you." Smarty Heart convinced once again. "But Princess Celestia and Princess Luna might catch us and get us into trouble." Twilight Sparkle said, but was interrupted by a kiss on the cheek from Smarty Heart. "If we are caught by both of them, I'll give them a warm welcome, my lovely unicorn." Smarty Heart whispered, stroking her soft mane. Twilight sighed happily, finished her lunch and went onto Smarty Heart's back, Smarty Heart started to fly into the sky gently, giving Twilight Sparkle a good ride.
The wind blew through Smarty Heart's soft mane, cooling Twilight Sparkle. To her, the wind that blew in her face was the wind of romance between her and Smarty Heart. She laid her head onto Smarty Heart's smooth neck and let the invisible colors of the wind fly through. Smarty Heart then slowed down and swept Twilight Sparkle into his arms. Twilight giggled and said "Oh Smarty Heart, you're such a gentleman." Smarty Heart smiled gracefully, kissing her lips romantically. He then rose up his head and looked at her, whispering "I love you" to her. Twilight whispered "I love you too." And put her hooves around Smarty Heart with passion.
Then, there was the sound of a throat being cleared, so Twilight Sparkle and Smarty Heart turned around and saw Princess Celestia and Princess Luna floating there, flapping their wings. "Why Princess- me and Smarty Heart were just seeing the view from up high. I hope there isn't anything wrong with that." Twilight Sparkle lied, trying to find a way to escape with no trouble. But Princess Celestia seemed to be smiling, she wasn't even angry or disappointed.
"My faithful student, there is no need to lie. I was watching the whole thing. I am proud of you that you've found love in your studies of friendship. And Smarty Heart, I don't think me, you and Luna got a chance to introduce ourselves. I am Princess Celestia, me and Luna both rule Equestria with great harmony and magic. I raise the sun, Luna raises the moon at night." Princess Celestia said to both of them. "Oh please Sister, you don't want to remind me of that incident if you know what I mean." Luna warned, crossing her hooves.
"What incident? Please tell me." Smarty Heart asked. Luna sighed and said "Okay… one day I refused to lower the moon and I became the Mare of the Moon, Nightmare Moon. And was trapped in the moon for a thousand years. After I was released, I tried to take over Equestria with eternal night. But thanks to Twilight Sparkle and her friends, they freed me from Nightmare Moon and I am doing good and not evil." Smarty Heart was astounded to hear such a legendary story and said, "Well, I am glad you are doing well again. Now I must have my privacy with Twilight Sparkle if you two don't mind." Princess Celestia dismissed them and the two Unicorn lovebirds flew off.
"My, what a gentleman." Princess Celestia said to Luna who watched them fly off. "Hmmm, we should invite both of them to the next Grand Galloping Gala when it approaches, sister Celestia." Luna suggested. Celestia began to think for a moment, sending the Unicorn couple to the Gala wouldn't be such a bad idea for them. Celestia turned to Luna and said "That's a great idea, Luna! You get so much great ideas! To the castle, I have a good plan!" Luna and Celestia then flew off to the castle. They had something amazing in store for the unicorn couple.
The night had arrived and the Moon rose high up in the sky. Twilight Sparkle was looking at the starry sky with her lover Smarty Heart on his balcony. With such curiosity about the planets that Smarty Heart kept talking about, she finally asked "Smarty, how do know what a planet looks like? Does it look like our world?"
Smarty Heart looked at her, saying "It varies on what planet it is. If it's a gas giant, nopony can land on it as they'll just fall through. But to see them with the naked eye, look for stars that don't twinkle." Twilight looked through the sky and saw three stars that didn't twinkle. "Oh! I see them!" She said. Smarty then got out a telescope and tapped her shoulder, making her turn around and see the telescope and she was impressed.
"That's such a great telescope Smarty!" She said, observing the telescope. "Would you like to see the planets Twilight? It's quite a show." Smarty requested, to which Twilight gladly accepted and looked through the telescope at the planets. The first planet seemed to be a yellow hazy cloud planet with storms swirling, the second planet was an orange planet with polar ice caps and two small moons, the third and final planet was a ringed blue planet with a storm on it. Twilight Sparkle was amazed and said "Smarty, this is probably the best date you've ever done with me. We should do this again sometime when we're free."
Smarty Heart smiled blushing and said "Of course, anything for you." Twilight gave him a passionate kiss, her soft lips locked onto his smooth lips. After the kiss, a letter from Princess Celestia had arrived on Smarty's table. "Whoa, that letter, where did it come from?" Smarty Heart surprisingly said. When the letter had arrived, he jumped back thinking a dragon was attacking Ponyville. Twilight Sparkle said "It's a letter from Princess Celestia herself, I wonder what she wants." And used her horn to take the letter over to her and unfolded it and began to read it.
Dear Twilight Sparkle and Smarty Heart,
When we met this afternoon, I began to think for a moment. The Grand Galloping Gala will be starting soon and I thought you could take Smarty Heart to the Gala for a great time. Enclosed in the letter are eight tickets, the reason being for the eighth ticket is because of your date Smarty Heart, he is invited to attend. I am looking quite forward to meeting Smarty Heart and asking him about his adventures.

"The Grand Galloping Gala? What's that?" Smarty Heart asked as Twilight Sparkle finished reading the letter. Twilight Sparkle took out the tickets and said "It's an annual royal ball that Princess Celestia hosts every year. It was originally for high-class ponies only, but Princess Celestia thought about the others left out of the Gala, and allowed them to come as long as they dress up formally."
Smarty Heart said "I have some formal stuff, including a Sapphire necklace. The reason for the Sapphire necklace is because Sapphires are my birth stone." Twilight Sparkle winked, saying "I have a Sapphire at home. Do you want it? It's flawless and not damaged whatsoever." Smarty Heart felt excited, she had a Sapphire for him and said "YES! I'll do anything to have a Sapphire like that!" and kissed her cheek. "Well, if you help me deliver these tickets to my friends, you can have your Sapphire, my sweet winged unicorn." Twilight Sparkle said, smiling.
Smarty Heart jumped up in the air happily and romantically kissed Twilight's lips, then said "Thank you so much! This is the best night ever!"
Twilight smiled and said "Now, let's give Rainbow Dash a ticket, wherever she is in the sky. I know something that would bring her here." And activated a rainbow colored flashlight that immediately got Rainbow Dash's attention, bringing her down from Cloudsdale. Upon flying down, Rainbow Dash looking tired, said "What is it Twilight? I'm trying to get a good night sleep." Twilight giggled and said "Oh Rainbow Dash, it's a ticket to the Grand Galloping Gala. You're invited!"
Rainbow Dash heard the word "Gala" and froze for a moment open-eyed before grabbing the ticket from Twilight Sparkle and cheering wildly. "You may count me in, Twilight! Let's just hope it's not bad like last time!" Rainbow Dash said, sounding brave and proud. "Oh, and Smarty Heart's coming with us." Twilight said, abruptly. "But why, Twilight? Can't he come by himself?" Rainbow Dash said, trying not to start an argument. "I'm sorry, but Princess Celestia requested that I do." Twilight said, crossing her hooves. Rainbow Dash gave a brief glare at Smarty Heart, then turned back to Twilight Sparkle and said "Very well." Before flying off back to Cloudsdale.
"Well that's one off the list, we'll deliver to Applejack next." Twilight Sparkle said, she and Smarty Heart leaving the humble home of Smarty Heart.

Upon arriving at Sweet Apple Acres, Twilight Sparkle went onto the dirt road holding Smarty Heart's hoof upon arriving at the Apple family's door. Smarty Heart being the fine gentleman he was, knocked at the door and waited patiently, until a tired Applejack answered the door.
Upon seeing both Smarty Heart and Twilight Sparkle, she looked happily and said in a southern accent "Howdy Twilight and Howdy Smarty Heart! What both of y'all need this evening?" "We came to give you your ticket to the Grand Galloping Gala. It's coming soon." Smarty Heart said and gave Applejack her ticket. "Why thank y'all for the ticket, I sure will be attendin'." Applejack approvingly said, before closing her door to get more rest.
Twilight Sparkle looked at Smarty Heart with a smile and said "Two down, three to go." They then proceeded to go to Fluttershy's cottage.
Arriving at Fluttershy's cottage, it seemed pretty quiet around the home, a single animal fast asleep around the cottage. Twilight Sparkle dismissed that everyone might be asleep and knocked on Fluttershy's door, holding hooves with Smarty Heart. "Uhhh, you know who this is, right?" Smarty Heart asked. Twilight Sparkle then explained "It's my friend Fluttershy. She's a huge fan of animals.
A tired Fluttershy then answered the door and said "Hello Twilight." before yawning. Twilight gave Fluttershy her ticket and said "It's a ticket to the Grand Galloping Gala. And I'm bringing Smarty Heart along." Fluttershy took her ticket from Twilight Sparkle and upon seeing Smarty Heart next to Twilight, she got shy.
"I don't think we ever got an introduction. I'm Smarty Heart." Smarty Heart said, lifting his hoof out for a hoofshake from Fluttershy. Fluttershy said quietly "Hi… I- I'm Fluttershy…" "I'm sorry but I couldn't hear the rest except the Hello part." Smarty Heart said, his hoof still out for a hoofshake. Finally, Fluttershy kindly shook his hoof and said "I'm Fluttershy." "It's nice to meet you Fluttershy and don't worry if you were too quiet, I'm used to those kind of ponies."
Fluttershy giggled and said "Forgive me, I'm not used to meeting new ponies that arrive. But I better get some rest now. I'll see you guys at the Gala." Fluttershy then closed her door to have some sleep.
Twilight Sparkle then said "Now it's three down, two to go." She and Smarty Heart then trotted off to Ponyville to give Pinkie Pie and Rarity their tickets.
Twilight Sparkle looked at the Sugarcube Corner, the store was still open and Pinkie was in the store with Rarity, trying out some dresses. They entered the store and interrupted the two whom were dressing.
Pinkie Pie saw both Twilight and Smarty Heart and went nuts, jumping all over the place. She finally went over to Smarty Heart and said "Hi there! I'm Pinkie Pie!" Smarty Heart hid behind Twilight Sparkle, Pinkie was acting way too crazy. "Pinkie! You're scaring my boyfriend!" Twilight scolded at Pinkie, defending her love. "I'm sorry, but every time I see you and him together, I get super excited!" Pinkie Pie said, still bouncing.
Twilight Sparkle then said "Well I got you and Rarity tickets to the Grand Galloping Gala." Rarity went over to Twilight Sparkle and was happy. She was going to go to the Gala again. "Alright Twilight, we'll come. Let's just hope it doesn't end up like last time, remember?" Rarity said, looking sweet. "Well, I have to go now, so we'll see you at the Gala, eh?" Smarty Heart said. Pinkie Pie took her ticket, waved goodbye and went back to trying out her dresses with Rarity.
Twilight Sparkle was heading home for a good sleep and Smarty Heart was carrying her on his back and when they arrived at her house, Smarty Heart woke Twilight up with a kiss to tell her she's home, and Twilight Sparkle got off Smarty Heart and walked up to her home.
Twilight Sparkle then realized something… the Sapphire. She turned and looked at Smarty Heart and said "Since you did a wonderful job tonight, I suppose I should give you your sapphire." Smarty Heart jumped up and down with excitement and was ready for it. Twilight, using her horn magic then gave the clean, shiny sapphire to Smarty Heart, who took it using his horn magic. Smarty Heart felt flattered and gave Twilight the most romantic hug that Twilight has ever gotten.
"I love you…" Smarty Heart whispered kindly, his arms around her mane, stroking it. "I love you too my Alicorn." Twilight Sparkle said in a whisper. Twilight Sparkle then let go of Smarty Heart and went inside, but before closing the door, she said "Goodnight sweetie." Smarty Heart was happy and went home.
After Smarty Heart left, Twilight Sparkle literally jumped onto her bed and screamed into a pillow. It was the best night of her life with Smarty Heart. "Twilight Sparkle! Where in the name of Celestia have you been? I was looking all over for you!" Spike said, entering her bedroom. "Oh Spike, I was on the date with Smarty, remember?" Twilight said with a tired look on her face. "Oh yeah! Sorry." Spike said, realizing what was going on.
Twilight then pulled her covers over her body and began to sleep, her eyes resting and began to dream about her and Smarty at the Gala, kissing near the gardens.

Rainbow Dash was obviously angry, she couldn't even believe that Twilight was inviting the new pony to the Grand Galloping Gala when he could have just gone by himself. "I can't believe it! I just can't believe it! Her, bringing her new boyfriend to the Gala, under Celestia's orders? Well, she's going to be too obsessed with him soon!"
Rainbow Dash began to think, she was moving back and forth thinking of something. "I know that Smarty's her boyfriend and I respect that, but there must be a way that Twilight can hang out with me and the others without her being too obsessed with Smarty Heart." Rainbow Dash thought, putting her hooves to her face, she was acting so selfish and rude.
She hoped that her anger against Smarty would end soon before the Gala began or an argument might happen at the Gala. She just had to end the anger soon. But how? She could befriend him at the Gala or perhaps invite him to the lake with the others to swim. That seemed like a good idea… A wonderful idea…
It was still the same night after the date, Smarty Heart was trying to sleep but was having a nightmare. In the nightmare, he was trying to defend his love from a terrifying monster that was trying to consume her into darkness. Jumping in front of the monster, he was consumed instead and darkness surrounded the Alicorn to the point where monsters started to surround him and attempt to attack, but he woke up screaming before he was consumed by the monsters.
He looked outside and then to his clock, it was 2:16am. "Still night…" Smarty Heart said, yawning and too traumatized by the dream he had. After a few minutes of trying to sleep, he could not sleep but instead kept thinking about the dream he had. He sat there numb and afraid, he sometimes suffered from nightmares and found it hard to fall asleep. Thinking for a moment, possibly minutes… he then found a solution to help him get to sleep, Twilight Sparkle.
He left his home in the night and trotted to Twilight Sparkle's library, to which he knocked on the door and waited, looking still afraid. A tired Twilight Sparkle then opened the door, and saw the scared Smarty Heart, all colors drained from his face. "Smarty Heart, are you alright?" Twilight Sparkle asked, in worry and concern. Smarty Heart just shook and weakly said "Bad dream, cannot sleep…" Twilight Sparkle then placed her hoof on his forehead, checking him. "You might have a cold my love. Come inside, I'll let you rest next to me and maybe you'll feel better." Twilight said, putting a hoof around her Alicorn boyfriend and leading him inside.
Going up the stairs, Smarty Heart looked at Twilight, slowly stroking her soft mane as she was helping him up the stairs, before weakly coughing and sneezing. Upon reaching Twilight's room, Smarty Heart walked over to her bed and flopped down onto it's silky softness of the bed, feeling cold and mildly sick. Twilight then lied down next to him and put a hoof around him, saying "Well, let's hope you feel better before the Gala starts, I don't want you missing out." Smarty Heart smiled a bit and nodded in agreement before spreading his right wing and covering her up with it to keep Twilight warm. Twilight felt flattered and blushed, before stroking his beautiful face and falling asleep.
Smarty kept his eyes on Twilight, he just couldn't stop staring. Thinking about her… he had his predictions of what good things would happen in their relationship. But at the same time he began to worry, what if it didn't turn out well? If something bad came, she might never want to speak to him again and would maybe give him the cold shoulder. In fear, he tightened his hug a little bit. He didn't want to lose Twilight Sparkle and her love with him. He then slowly fell asleep once again, in the comfort of his love's warmth.

Rainbow Dash was flying down to Pony Joe's for a donut and coffee, it was a rough night for her to clear the skies of clouds and she felt like a coffee could wake her up. Goodness, the stress of having to clear up the clouds… please. She lived in Cloudsdale, so there was no excuse. Landing on the ground, she proceeded to enter Pony Joe's as the door she swung open rang a bell.
Pony Joe came out and noticed the familiar face, saying "Well, hello Rainbow Dash. How can I help you this morning?" Rainbow Dash sat at the front, facing Pony Joe and saying "An extra-large coffee with sugar and milk." Pony Joe got the order memorized and said "Alright." Before walking into the back to make the coffee. As always, Rainbow Dash always felt so miserable when she was tired. She sighed and let out a huge yawn before grabbing the nearby local newspaper and reading it.
Looking through the newspaper, she looked at the main headline, in big bold letters it said "Royal Galloping Gala To Start Again!" "Yeah, start again…" Rainbow Dash tiredly said and saw her coffee get set onto the table. She put down the newspaper and took a sip of her coffee, the warm coffee giving her the spirit to wake up and go flying about. Pony Joe keeping an eye on her noticed that she had been really serious lately and decided to talk to her. "I've noticed that you're acting quite serious lately, Dash. Would you like to tell me what happened?"
Rainbow Dash looked at him and said "It's just frustration of my job to clear the skies, that's all." "No, you're hiding something. Please tell me, I won't tell anyone." Rainbow Dash sighed and gave in, saying "Well, it's my friend Twilight Sparkle. I think she's obsessed with this one pony… an Alicorn you could say." Pony Joe scratched his head and said "Oh you mean that new pony that arrived? He's cool." Rainbow Dash put a hoof to her face and sighed annoyingly, it was all the same. She would tell the pony about Twilight Sparkle and Smarty Heart and everypony would say that the two were a cute couple.
Rainbow Dash then removed the hoof from her face and said "Well, I really don't mind the relationship to be honest, I'm just worried that Twilight will soon get obsessed and won't stop talking about Smarty Heart. And she's already dating him." Pony Joe then said "Well, I wish them great luck in their relationship." Rainbow Dash sighed again, it was going to be yet another day with more ponies talking about the Unicorn and Alicorn.

"Awwww!" Smarty Heart woke to the sound of Spike admiring the two sleeping together and looked at the small purple-green dragon. Spike then said "Morning Smarty!" and smiled, crossing his dragon arms. "Good morning." Smarty Heart said, a quiet yawn coming out. Spike then said "I do not think we've been introduced. I'm Spike, the dragon assistant to Twilight Sparkle." Smarty Heart said "I'm Smarty Heart. And it is nice to meet you Spike." And shook the small dragon's hand.
Spike then noticed the sleeping Twilight and said "Cover your ears, I'm going to wake her up." Smarty Heart then covered his ears as Spike shouted into Twilight Sparkle's ear for her to wake up. Twilight Sparkle jumped into the air surprised and fell back onto the bed with soft force. She then looked at Spike and said "I swear Spike, you do not need to wake me up that way-" She was interrupted when Smarty Heart put his hoof on her shoulder, which made Twilight giggle.
There was loud banging on Twilight Sparkle's front door, someone really wanted in. "Who keeps knocking furiously on my door usually?" Twilight Sparkle said and went to the door, opening it to see three little fillies, Sweetie Belle, Apple Bloom and Scootaloo. It was the Cutie Mark Crusaders. Twilight Sparkle let them in, but told them not to cause trouble. But when they saw Smarty Heart, trouble began. "Hey, who's this?" Sweetie Belle asked. Twilight said "Oh that's my boyfriend Smarty Heart." "Why doesn't he have a cutie mark?" Scootaloo asked, examining him.
Smarty Heart then nervously said "Um, I really think I should go now. The gala's in a few days…" and attempted to walk out. But Apple Bloom blocked him from leaving and said "You can't be out there with no cutie mark! We must find you something you're interested in!" "Sorry, but I have to go." Smarty Heart said, trying to get out. But finally the three fillies began to pull on his leg and beg for him to stay. But Smarty Heart told them no once again and that he'll be fine without a cutie mark. The fillies then let go of him and watched as he walked off, blowing a kiss to Twilight Sparkle.
Apple Bloom then turned to Twilight Sparkle and asked "Is he your boyfriend?" Twilight said "Yes he is." All three of the Cutie Mark Crusaders then proceeded to tease Twilight Sparkle, but she shut her door on them. They then hopped onto her window and tapped it to get her attention. Twilight turned to them and blushed more when she saw them drawing both Smarty and Twilight kissing. "Oh boy, it's just one of those days…"
