It was a beautiful day in Ponyville, and everypony was getting ready. For tomorrow,Ponyville was holding a special event where all ponies will spend the day with their families. Everypony was excited for this...but Twilight felt worried about something. Her dragon assisstant, Spike never knew his family. He was hatched by Twilight at her magic examination and spent everyday with her. Twilight wanted to see if Spike wanted to come to the event that would happen the following day.
"Spike?" Twilight called. "Spike?" He looked around and saw a note on Twilight's desk. She looked and read;
Dear Twilight, I went out for a stroll through Ponyville, I'll be back later. Love, Spike
Twilight smiled. "I'll have to talk to him later." She said. Twilight then walked upstairs but she noticed something on Spike's pillow. She looked and it said Spike's Diary. Twilight smiled at that. She wanted Spike to make a diary and he did. As she looked at it, something made her jump.
"Hi Twilight!" said Pinkie Pie's voice.
Twilight got up and saw Pinkie Pie peeking through the window. "Pinkie Pie?" said Twilight. "How did you get up here?"
"How I got up here?" said Pinkie Pie. She began to think. "I didn't have a trampoline, I don't have wings, I don't have a turbo jetpack, so...I don't know." Pinkie Pie said, shrugging. Twilight looked confused, but rolled her eyes.
"Whatcha looking at?" said Pinkie Pie.
"I told Spike to make a diary a while ago, and he did." said Twilight. "Who knows how long he wrote and what he wrote in here." Pinkie Pie then jumped in Twilight's bedroom and snatched the diary from Twilight. "Hey!" said Twilight. "What are you doing?"
"Don't tell me you're peeking in Spike's diary!" said Pinkie Pie backing away. "You're being such a snooper!"
"I wasn't snooping!" said Twilight trying to get the diary from Pinkie Pie.
"Yes you were!" Pinkie Pie said in a sing-song tone.
"Pinkie!" said Twilight as she jumped on Pinkie Pie. They then both tumbled down the stairs and landed on the floor. Twilight got up as she noticed the diary on Pinkie Pie's face. "Hey!" said Pinkie Pie looking at the diary. "He wrote something about me!"
"Who's the snooper now?" said Twilight, smirking.
"Oh, come on Twilight!" said Pinkie Pie. "Let me read just one! Please?" Pinkie Pie made a puppy dog face, which Twilight tried her best to avoid. But it didn't work.
"Fine, we can read just one." said Twilight.
"Whee!" said Pinkie Pie. She then looked in the diary and read.
"Dear diary, an event where all ponies celebrate a day with their families is happening in Ponyville, but I'm just a dragon. But still, I feel I have a family. Let's start my family with Pinkie Pie, though she acts really silly at some points, she's still always there for me. There was one time where I had a bad cold and I couldn't celebrate Twilight's birthday in Canterlot, but the next day, Pinkie Pie came to visit."
"Oh! Oh!" said Pinkie Pie. "I remember this! I threw Spike a little get well party!"
Spike was in his bed, still sick, but starting to get better. He opened his eyes a little but then jumped in the air when he heard a kazoo and saw confetti and streamers.
"SURPRISE!" said Pinkie Pie, jumping in front of him.
"Pinkie?" said Spike, coughing a little. "What's going on?"
"I'm throwing a get-well party for ya, Spike!" said Pinkie Pie, jumping on his bed. "It's just you and me here! So what do you wanna do?"
"Well," said Spike. "Can we have a small party? You're jumping is making me dizzy."
Pinkie Pie smiled sheepishly. "Sorry." She said. "So what do you wanna do, Spike?"
"Well, I might need something to help cure my cold." said Spike, coughing heavily.
"Hmm," said Pinkie Pie. "How about some soup?"
"I guess so." said Spike.
Pinkie Pie went downstairs and started to make some soup.
A while later, Pinkie Pie went back upstairs to Spike who sat up when he saw her. "Here's some soup!" said Pinkie Pie. "It's my Grandma's recipe!"
Spike started to slurp the soup on the spoon, but then his face turned red as a tomato. "Ah! AH!" said Spike. "HOT! HOT! HOT!" Pinkie Pie then quickly went downstairs to get water. She gave the water to Spike instantly gulped it down, and cooled down.
"Feel better, Spikey?" said Pinkie Pie.
Before Spike could say something, he noticed he wasn't as congested as he was before. "I'm...starting to feel better." said Spike.
"That's great!" said Pinkie Pie. "Want some more soup?"
"Sure," said Spike. Pinkie Pie gave him some more soup, but before that, she had a jug of water to cool him down after the soup. "Thanks," said Spike.
A while later, Spike was starting to feel much better then he was before.
"So, anything else you wanna do, Spike?" said Pinkie Pie.
"Well, can you read me a story?" said Spike.
"Sure!" said Pinkie Pie. She then hopped onto the bed and pulled out a Daring Do story. Pinkie Pie then began to read it as Spike smiled. A while later when Pinkie Pie was still reading, Spike got tired as he started to fall asleep next to Pinkie Pie. Pinkie Pie smiled warmly at Spike as she wrapped her arm around him.
"And thanks to Pinkie Pie, I was feeling much better. I wish I would've gone to Canterlot to celebrate Twilight's birthday, but at least I had an awesome day with Pinkie Pie."
Pinkie Pie got a little teared up when she read that part in Spike's diary. "Oh, Spikey!" said Pinkie Pie, wiping her tears.
"That was pretty nice of Spike." said Twilight. "So can we put the diary away now?"
"Alright," said Pinkie Pie. Before she could put it away, the door opened revealing Applejack, Rainbow Dash, Fluttershy and Rarity, along with Jiminy Cricket who was on Applejack's back.
"Hello, girls." said Rarity.
"Hi," said Twilight.
"We were on our way to get some dinner," said Applejack. "We wanted to see if y'all could join us."
"Sure," said Twilight.
"All right!" said Pinkie Pie. Before they could get ready, Rainbow Dash looked and saw what Pinkie Pie was holding. "What's that?" said Rainbow Dash.
"Oh, this is Spike's diary!" said Pinkie Pie.
"Which we're putting away." said Twilight, raising an eyebrow to Pinkie Pie.
"What were you girls doing with it?" said Rainbow Dash taking the diary.
"We were gonna put it away after Pinkie Pie saw what Spike wrote about her." said Twilight.
"Hey, Fluttershy!" said Rainbow Dash. "Here's something about you!"
"Oh, I couldn't." said Fluttershy. "I wouldn't want to look in his private diary." Either way, Rainbow Dash still read.
"Now that I've talked about Pinkie Pie, I wanna talk about Fluttershy. Ever since I met her, she became like a second mother to me. When she first met me, she cradled me in her arms when she thought I was tired. Twilight may have thought it was odd, but I felt kind of warm and tender in Fluttershy's arms.
Fluttershy blushed when she heard that.
And despite being shy, she always looks out for us, saving the gang from a dragon and saving Twilight from a cockatrice. But the night I remember her being there for me the most was a week ago when she watched me in her cottage when Twilight had to do some Princess duties.
"Oh, I remember that!" said Fluttershy. "It was a wonderful night."
It was nighttime in Ponyville as Fluttershy was tucking in her animal friends for the night. She was about to go up to her room but noticed Iago was at the doorstep of her bedroom. "Iago?" Fluttershy asked. "What is it?"
"Maybe you can handle this." said Iago as he let Fluttershy open the door. Fluttershy opened the door and saw Spike staring out the window. She noticed that Spike's eyes were a little watery.
"Spike?" said Fluttershy. "What's wrong?"
"Oh, hey Fluttershy." said Spike. "It's nothing, but..."
Tears started welling up in Spike's eyes again as Fluttershy stood by him.
"I'm scared." said Spike. Fluttershy looked confused but still concerned of the little dragon.
"It's just that now that Twilight's a princess," said Spike. "She won't need me anymore. I've been her assistant for as long as I can remember, but Princesses like her have many servants and assistants. I don't know, it's just that I feel so...alone."
Spike started to cry, but Fluttershy pulled the poor, scared little dragon in for a hug.
"Shh," Fluttershy said. "It's okay. It's okay." She wiped Spike's tears from his eyes and Spike looked up to Fluttershy. "You don't have to worry." said Fluttershy. "Twilight still loves you very much. And you will always be her assistant, and she'll always be there for you."
Spike smiled at Fluttershy as he shared another hug with Fluttershy. "Thanks." He said. Spike started to yawn a little as Fluttershy still held him. She then began to sing a lullaby.
Fluttershy: Hush now, quiet now, It's time to lay your sleepy head. Hush now, quiet now, It's time to go to bed. Drifting off to sleep to leave the exciting day behind you, Drifting off to sleep, let the joy of dreamland find you. She was about to put Spike in his little bed, but she noticed that Spike snuggled into her fur. She smiled at Spike as she got in bed, letting Spike sleep with her. She kissed Spike on the forehead and put her arm around the dragon keeping him warm and tender, like the first time they met.
When Fluttershy comforted me that night, I was pretty sure that everything would be okay. Scratch that, thanks to Fluttershy, I knew everything would be okay."
Tears streamed from Fluttershy's eyes as she smiled. "That beautiful, beautiful dragon." Fluttershy said, wiping her tears.
What Twilight heard from Fluttershy got her tears in her eyes, too. "Spike," Twilight said. "I...I didn't know. I wish I would've been there for him more."
"Don't worry, sugarcube." said Applejack. "You'll always have the chance to."
"Hey!" said Rainbow Dash. "There's something about me in here!" Rainbow Dash then started to read.
"And speaking of Pegasus, Rainbow Dash I always thought was awesome.
Rainbow Dash smirked at that. "I get that a lot." She said, proudly.
And being awesome as she is, she's also there for me alot. There was one example that happened a week ago. It started when the Cutie Mark Crusaders bought me a scooter. I recently started hanging out with them, even though I'm not destined to get a Cutie Mark.
Spike was getting on his new scooter. "What do ya think?" said Apple Bloom.
"This is awesome!" said Spike. "Come on, guys! I'll race ya!"
The Cutie Mark Crusaders got on their scooters and got ready.
"One for the money!" said Apple Bloom.
"Two for the show!" said Sweetie Belle.
"Three to get ready!" said Scootaloo.
"And four to go!" said Spike.
They then all began riding on their scooters. They began riding all through Ponyville as Spike was catching up to the girls.
"You might as well forget it Spike, we're so gonna get ya!" said Scootaloo.
"Oh yeah?" said Spike. "Well, I have a question, are you hungry?"
"Hungry?" asked Scootaloo.
"'Cause you're about to eat my dust!" said Spike as he started to speed up. "Woo-hoo!"
"Spike!" called Apple Bloom. "Spike! Look out!"
Spike turned around and saw he was going to hit a tree! He hit part of the tree as he then noticed his scooter acting crazy. "I can't stop!" said Spike. "Help!"
The Cutie Mark Crusaders jumped off their scooters and chased after Spike. "Someone help us! Please!" Sweetie Belle called out frantically.
Rainbow Dash, who was sleeping on a cloud, awoke to the yells for help. She got up and saw Spike on his scooter heading for a river.
Spike's scooter crashed on the ground as Spike then fell into the river.
"Spike!" said Apple Bloom. "Oh, Spike!"
Rainbow Dash gasped as she then flew off her cloud and sped off towards the river. "Hang on, Spike!" said Rainbow Dash. "Here I come!" Rainbow Dash dove into the water and saw Spike was unconscious while in the water. She grabbed Spike and pulled him out of the water. She laid Spike on the ground as he was still unconscious.
Rainbow Dash then began to perform CPR on Spike by pounding on his chest. After a fifth pound on the chest, Spike began to spit out water and cough heavily. "There, there, kiddo." said Rainbow Dash, ruffling his scales.
"We're so sorry," said Apple Bloom. "We bought him a scooter for him to race with us, and he wasn't watching where he was going and-and-"
"It's okay, girls." said Rainbow Dash. "It's not your fault."
"I wouldn't be so sure." said a voice. The ponies turned around and saw Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon walking towards them. "You blank flanks bought that scooter for him in the first place."
"This isn't funny, Diamond Tiara." said Scootaloo. "Spike almost got killed."
"With the scooter you bought for that stupid lizard?" said Diamond Tiara. "I'm not surprised."
The Cutie Mark Crusaders then started to feel guilty.
"Hey!" Rainbow Dash snapped to the rich fillies. "You better stop talking about them like that!"
"Well you better watch your back!" Diamond Tiara snapped back. "My dad's extremely rich!"
"Need I remind you that you're dealing with friends of Princess Twilight Sparkle!" said Rainbow Dash. "A powerful, yet great friend who's heading in the direction of becoming the next Celestia! So you better watch it or I'll tell your parents OR Princess Twilight about what you're saying! I'm sure they'd be very interested."
Diamond Tiara didn't know what to say. She then harrumphed and walked away, as Silver Spoon smiled nervously at Rainbow Dash and followed Diamond Tiara.
Rainbow Dash ran back over to Spike who was starting to gain consciousness. "Rainbow Dash," said Spike. "You saved my life."
"Don't get all sappy about it." said Rainbow Dash, playfully rubbing his head.
Spike then hugged Rainbow Dash. "Thanks." He said. "Ah, Spike." said Rainbow Dash, hugging him with one of her hooves. "You need me to take you home?" Spike nodded as Rainbow Dash let Spike climb on her back so she could take him home.
And not only did Rainbow Dash save me, she also helped the Cutie Mark Crusaders rebuild my scooter. Now wonder she's the Element of Loyalty."
Rainbow Dash read this and started tearing up a little.
"Y'all starting to cry a little, there Rainbow Dash?" said Applejack, jokingly.
"Uh, no." said Rainbow Dash, wiping her tears. "Liquid pride, totally different."
Applejack took the diary and looked at it. "Let's see what else this says."
"Now that I've talked about Rainbow Dash, I should move onto Applejack. She's probably one of the best friends a pony (Or dragon in my case) could ever ask for."
"Aw, shucks." said Applejack.
Like Rainbow Dash, she also saved my life, but I already talked about that before. A story I can talk about though, is one involving her hat.
Jiminy Cricket leaped on the floor and looked at the diary. "I remember this one!" He said. "Spike did a really good deed that day. It was also the first day me and Spike met."
"He's right." said Applejack. "Ah'll never forget what that little feller did that day."
Spike was walking in Sweet Apple Acres. He noticed an apple close to falling. He bumped the tree which caused it to fall in Spike's hand. He happily munched on the apple, but then another apple fell on his head. He looked up, but then shrugged. He was about to bite the apple again, but another apple then came down on his head. He walked away from the tree and too another one. A few more apples then fell on his head. He looked confused but then saw Applejack running around bumming her head on a bunch of apple trees. Spike also noticed Applejack didn't have her hat on. Spike walked over to Applejack.
"Hi...Applejack...?" said Spike confused.
"Hi, Spike." said Applejack running around frantically.
"Are you okay?" said Spike.
"No!" said Applejack as she began to bump her head on another tree.
"Where's your hat?" said Spike.
"It's GONE!" said Applejack as she began to pace back and forth. "My hat! Ah was picking some tough apples and then Ah fell and hit my head! And when Ah got up, my hat is gone!"
"Don't worry, Applejack." said Spike. "I'm sure you can get a new one."
"Ya don't understand!" Applejack snapped angrily. She then stomped into her house, frustratingly.
She slammed the door which caused apples from another tree to fall. Spike heard muffling from the pile of apples. He walked over and removed a few apples which revealed Jiminy Cricket. "Whew," said Jiminy, getting out of the apples. He looked up and saw Spike. "Oh!" said Jiminy. "You must be that little dragon, Applejack told me about!"
"Who are you supposed to be?" said Spike.
"My name's Jiminy Cricket!" said Jiminy. "I moved here just a few weeks ago."
"My name's Spike." said Spike as he and Jiminy shook hands. "So, since you're here with Applejack, do you know why she's acting like this?"
Jiminy sighed. "It's not a pretty story." He said. "The hat she wore, belonged to her father."
"And what happened to her father?" said Spike, nervously.
Jiminy tried his best not to get teared up. "Applejack's parents...died in a terrible storm, just a few months when Apple Bloom was born."
Spike felt his heart sink. He felt pretty bad of what he said to Applejack. "And that hat is the closest thing to her parents right now?" said Spike. Jiminy nodded.
"Man," said Spike. "This really bites for her." He sat down next to the tree, but then noticed something floating down. It was the hat. "Applejack's hat!" Spike said. He then realized. If Applejack was working up in the trees, she must've lost her hat up there. "I gotta return this!" said Spike. He then ran inside Applejack's house as Jiminy watched.
Applejack was on her bed looking up at the ceiling. She had no idea what she was going to do. She then heard something.
"Applejack," said Spike. Applejack turned and her eyes widened when she saw Spike with the hat. "I'm sorry I didn't know earlier, but I-"
Spike didn't finish as Applejack ran to Spike and held him in a big hug. "Apology accepted, Spike." She said, smiling. Spike smiled as he and Applejack shared their hug. Jiminy watched from the window, smiling as everything was now alright.
I felt pretty bad about not knowing about Applejack's family, but I figured Applejack would forgive me, after all, what are friends for?"
Applejack felt water from her cheeks reading it. "That cute little guy." said Applejack. Jiminy was wiping his eyes with a tissue as he nodded. They then smelled something as Pinkie Pie had buckets of fried chicken. "Where did you get that fried chicken?" said Twilight. "I was hungry so I made an order." Applejack the continued reading the diary;
"We're down to just two more ponies, I'll first do Rarity.
Rarity instantly grabbed the diary. "Oh! Oh! What does Spikey-Wikey think of me?" She looked into the diary and read as Jiminy put a light on a candle.
Rarity is probably the most beautiful pony I've ever seen. Everytime I see her, my heart melts. I always wanted to confess my true feelings to Rarity, but I never got the chance to. But on my first Hearts and Hooves Day in Ponyville, it was by far the best.
Rarity blushed at this. "What's going on, Rarity?" said Twilight, smirking.
"Well, it was...something." said Rarity, smiling.
It was almost sunset on Hearts and Hooves Day and Rarity was walking around Ponyville. She then noticed her all-time crush, a red unicorn with black hair named Crimson Mane looking at a patch of flowers. She grinned at this as she walked down towards him and began acting seductive. "Why hello," said Rarity, bashing her eyelids.
"Hello," said Crimson Mane as he pulled out a pile of roses. Rarity's eyes widened as she smiled.
"What do you think?" said Crimson Mane.
"They're perfect." said Rarity, dreamily.
"Thanks for approving!" said Crimson Mane. To Rarity's surprise, Crimson Mane walked away from her and to another unicorn named Pure Soul. A ripple started to form in Rarity's heart. "These are for you." said Crimson Mane. Pure Soul looked at the flowers as she and Crimson Mane kissed. Rarity's heart then broke into pieces. She then walked away. Her true love was with some other pony. Now what was she going to do?
Rarity then saw a figure sitting on a rock on a hill under a tree. She saw it was Spike who was sitting up there. She noticed that Spike was looking kind of lonely. She then walked up to him.
"Hello, Spike." said Rarity.
Spike looked up and saw Rarity smiling at him. "Hi, Rarity." He said. He seemed calm at first, but deep inside, he was about to burst with excitement, because his crush was right next to him and they were alone.
"How are you doing?" said Rarity.
"Doing okay." said Spike. "I'm just feeling a little lonely."
"Well, so am I." said Rarity. "A crush of mine just dashed off with somepony else."
"He doesn't know what he's missing." said Spike.
Rarity's eyes widened as she turned to Spike, smiling.
"Maybe we can just spend the rest of the evening together?" said Rarity, sitting beside him and putting a hoof around him. "Just you and me?"
Spike tried his best to hold back his excitement as his cheeks turned red. "Sure." He said, smiling.
Spike and Rarity then looked up into the sky as the sun started to go down and the stars began to shine.
I truly care for Rarity with all my heart, but I guess telling her about it will have to wait someday."
Rarity felt tears welling up in her eyes. "Oh, my little Spikey-Wikey!" said Rarity, as she wiped her eyes.
"Looks like the only one left is you Twilight." said Applejack looking at Twilight.
"Oh, I already know how he feels." said Twilight. "He's my number one assistant and friend."
Applejack was looking in the diary as her eyes widened. "Oh my," She said.
"What?" said Twilight.
"Oh my goodness." said Applejack as she teared up a bit.
"What does it say?" asked Twilight.
"Here, Twi." said Applejack, smiling as she handed Twilight the diary. "Ah think you should read it."
Twilight looked in the diary and read.
Now it's time to move on to Twilight. Remember how I said Fluttershy is like a second mother to me? Well, it might sound strange but...Twilight is like my first.
Twilight's eyes widened as she held her hoof to her mouth in shock. All the ponies and Jiminy were also surprised. Twilight then continued to read, not knowing of the water starting to form in her eyes.
I know it may sound silly since Twilight's a unicorn and I'm a dragon. But she hatched me when I was just an egg. And she's always been there for me ever since. The more I thought about it, she's like the mother I never had. There was last mother's day when I wanted to tell her that.
Twilight Sparkle had just said goodbye to her mother Twilight Velvet, for she along with Spike had spent the day with her. As Twilight and Spike walked inside, Twilight turned to Spike.
"Did you have a great time, Spike?" said Twilight.
"Yeah, but, uh..." said Spike. Twilight then knew Spike was hiding something.
"Spike," said Twilight, suspiciously. "What have you got there?"
Spike then pulled out a golden necklace. In the center of the necklace was something that looked almost like Twilight's cutie mark.
"Spike," said Twilight, very touched. "It's beautiful. But why?"
Spike was about to say something. But then he stopped. He just couldn't say it.
"Just wanted to do something nice for ya." said Spike.
"Well, I really appreciate your gift Spike." said Twilight as she gave Spike a light hug. "Thank you."
"No problem." said Spike. He then walked upstairs as he let out a silent sigh.
I thought about telling Twilight right there, but I was too scared and nervous to see how Twilight was going to react. I just really don't know how she feels about me.
Tears were flowing from Twilight's wide eyes while reading. The ponies and Jiminy were all crying from what Twilight read from Spike's diary.
"We need to tell Spike about this." said Twilight, wiping her tears.
"Are you kidding?" said Rainbow Dash. "Spike would be so upset if we found out we read his secret diary!"
"I don't think he will when he sees what he read." said Twilight. "Jiminy? I need you to write something in Spike's diary for us."
"Sure thing." said Jiminy. He picked up a quill and dipped it a little in the ink.
"Dear Spike," Twilight started.
A while later, Jiminy finished up what Twilight and the other ponies had to say.
"Oh my goodness!" said Fluttershy. "Spike's coming home!" All the ponies and Jiminy hid upstairs while Twilight still remained in the library. Spike then walked inside the library and saw Twilight dusting the library.
"Twilight?" said Spike.
"Oh, hey Spike!" said Twilight. "I'm just cleaning up the library! I just need to dust upstairs and I'll be finished!" Twilgith then hid upstairs with her friends as Spike looked confused as he saw his journal on the desk he worked on.
Spike picked up his diary and saw on the next page after the one he left off and read. He also didn't notice the ponies and Jiminy sneaking downstairs and watching him read.
"Dear Spike, Before you say anything, we are very sorry we looked in your diary. It accidentally came across us and accidentally happened to see what was inside. And about what we read, you don't have to be scared. How you feel is understandable. That's why we want you to come with us on Family Appreciation Day tomorrow. We all love you Spike.

"Mom?" Spike said as he read that part, confused. Spike then realized something. He started to get teared up while having the biggest smile he could ever make.
"Spike?" said a voice Spike knew. He turned and saw the six ponies and Jiminy all smiling. Twilight, who had tears streaming from her eyes had her arms open. Spike smiled happily as he ran into Twilight's embrace while crying tears of happiness.
The ponies all joined Spike for a hug as Jiminy watched happily. Jiminy then said. "I guess in the end, we are all connected in the great Circle of Life."
