A story where Twilight was never Celestia's student, never the brother of Shining Armor, and her foalsitter was never Cadence.
Princess Twilight Sparkle is the only daughter of the queen of the night, Nightmare Moon, and the lord of shadows, King Sombra. She is unlike any other normal equine foal, mainly because she was born as an alicorn. Just like her parents, she has the acute ability of harnessing the full power of dark magic to the fullest of its power. Her and her parents rule the Crystal Kingdom with an iron-hoof with a strong and loyal alliance with the Griffon Kingdom. They are planning one of the biggest attacks on Equestria in over a thousand years. The great thing about their plan is, their enemy has no idea about it.
Unfortunately, they are dealing with the princess of Equestria, Princess Celestia and her most loyal of guards, Rainbow Dash, Fluttershy, Rarity, Applejack, and Pinkie Pie.
The gore rating is for death and torture in later chapters. The teen rating may change depending on how I write how the death's and torture occur. I got this idea while listening to the black metal band Dimmu Borgir with heavy rain in the background. I DO NOT OWN anything My Little Pony. All rights to the characters and the locations of the show are sole property of Hasbro.
It was roughly 8 o'clock at night, and the citizens of the Crystal Empire were enjoying the peace and quiet while getting ready for bed.
Unfortunately, the same could not be said for the staff and guards inside the palace. Unlike the rest of the empire, guards were racing to the medical bay to alert the doctors and nurses of the most important visit there in the history of the Empire's existence.
While some of the guards were off getting the medical bay ready, others were either making sure no-one got inside the palace, and the rest were roaming the halls for any unwanted visitors. Down the hall form the medical bay, a gurney with a dark mare with a starry mane & tail, a sharp horn and wings was moaning and screaming in agony while being pushed towards the medical bay. Around her were some of the best military medics, guards and her husband. The stallion that was right next her had a curved, red horn, charcoal black mane & tail and a dark grey coat.
"It's going to be okay my dear Moon, everything is going to be okay," the stallion said to his wife. "Don't worry, the baby is going to be just fine. Just keep taking deep steady breaths, we'll be there shortly."
"I hope your right my dear Sombra. I just want this pain to be over with as soon as possible," said Nightmare Moon, right before she screamed in agony again. After the scream, she took her husbands advice and started taking deep breaths, in through her nose and out through her mouth.
About 5 minutes later, they finally made it to the hospital bay and straight to delivery room for the birth of the newest member of the royal family.
After about 7 minutes of excruciating pain and checking out the newborn foal, Nightmare Moon and Sombra were finally able hold their child. It was a young lavender colored alicorn filly with a dark purple mane and tail with a lighter purple and pink stripe down the middle of each. After a minute or two of silently admiring the young filly, it was Sombra who broke the silence by saying, "She is adorable. She has your facial structure and is an alicorn just like you my dear Moon."
"Not only that, but she has the same eyes as you love," said Nightmare Moon. "What should we name her? Personally, I think it needs to be elegant to represent her status as Princess, but put fear into the hearts of those who dare appose our benevolent rule."
"I agree, but what can be both elegant yet fearsome at the same time," Sombra said as he put a hoof up to his chin in thought. After several moments of thinking and deliberating names, he finally thought of the perfect name. "I got it, and I think it has the perfect mix of the two key elements we are looking for."
Nightmare Moon cocked her head to the side and said, "What name do you think we should give her?"
Sombra gave a toothy grin as he responded, "The name I propose is Twilight Sparkle."
Nightmare gave a small smile and looked down at her daughter and replied, "I agree, that should be her name. It matches her perfectly considering she is the daughter of the Queen of the Night and the Lord of Shadows."
While they were talking, they didn't notice the young alicorn look at them with a confused expression on her face. She was looking between the two other ponies in the room trying to figure out who they were. After some time she decide to get their attention by starting to make some unintelligible sounds. She finally got their attention with some effort and smiled when they noticed them looking at her with big grins on their faces.
It Nightmare moon who was the first to speak. "Hello there young one. Welcome to this wonderful world. I'm your mom and this is your dad," she gestured her husband and herself accordingly with her hoof, before continuing. "If your wondering who you are, your name is Twilight Sparkle and you are the crown Princess and heir to the thrown of the Crystal Empire, but you will learn that in the near future when your older."
At the sound of her mothers voice, the young filly gave a grin and started giggling with happiness with a new-found joy and started reaching for Nightmare's snout with her tiny hooves.
"I think she wants to give you a hug my dear. It would be unwise to deny our daughter that unless you want her to become upset and start crying," Sombra said with a grin plastered on his muzzle.
Without any hesitation, Nightmare bent her head down to nuzzle her daughter and receive a hug in return.
With some reluctance, Sombra got up and moved to the door while saying, "Get some rest tonight and I will see you first thing tomorrow morning."
"Where are going?" Nightmare asked as she tilted her head in confusion as to why her husband was leaving her in the room.
Sombra turned around and gave a smile while saying, "I am going to make sure that Twilight Sparkle's crib is finished and is directly at the foot of out bed. Don't worry, I'll make sure everything in the room is cleaned and organised for when you leave here tomorrow." He then walked back to bed and gave his daughter a kiss on the forehead, then proceeded to give his wife a kiss goodnight and left the room directly after to make sure everything he said was done.
After her husband left, Nightmare looked down and noticed that her daughter was asleep while snoring very quietly. Seeing the sight put a smile on her face as she followed her daughter and was fast asleep as well.
The next day
Sombra walked down the hall with his wife by his side and their daughter nestled on back between her wings, still fast asleep. Sombra looked at the sight with a content smile on his face as he tried to picture the future he would have with his family.
"Is something wrong, love?" Nightmare asked when she saw her husband had zoned out.
Shaking his head out of his trance from his wife question, he replied, "N-nothing... nothing at all. Just trying to think of what the future will hold for us."
Nightmare nodded her head and looked back at her daughter. She then thought of something that made her shiver and it quickly noticed by Sombra. "Is something wrong dear? Please tell me. I'm here for you," he said, worry very evident on his face and in his voice.
Nightmare looked down, then at Sombra and nodded with a sigh. "Something is wrong, and I don't know how to deal with it."
"What is it?" he asked trying to figure out what caused his wife to shiver like she did.
"I-it's j-just that, how am I going to tell my sister that her evil sister has a daughter that is also an alicorn who will most likely be a master at dark magic like us?" Nightmare said, trying to figure out what her sister would say or do about it. Just thinking about it made her eyes water and another shiver run down her spine.
Her husband scooted up right next to her and wiped her eyes dry with his hoof. He then proceeded to nuzzle her neck and said, "We'll deal with at a later time. Right now, lets just enjoy our time as a family and deal with some other time. What do you say my dear Moon?"
She smile and nuzzled him back, replying, "Fine, but we immediately tell my sister when young Twilight Sparkle is older and we tell about her aunt and our alliance with the Griffon Kingdom so she know how to trust he griffon and make sure they don't harm our subjects, okay?"
Sombra looked at her and smiled. "I will agree to those terms. Now how about we take a nice nap with our daughter and go from there."
Nightmare Moon nodded and entered their bedchamber with her daughter still on her back and her husband following right behind as the door closed and locked behind them until the next day.
It has been about a thousand years since the birth of one Princess Twilight Sparkle, daughter of Queen Nightmare Moon and King Sombra. During that time, she had had some glorious times learning how to master and control the power of Dark Magic and many wonderful times with her parents. She was trained in combat magic by her father and defensive magic by her mother.
While most of the time was great, there were also many bad times in the empire. Some of these times included an attack by the Zebra Nation; which was quickly won by the Empire’s highly trained Shadow Guard. Another one of the bad times, and probably the most important, was that the Empire’s greatest ally and supporter, The Griffon Kingdom, almost broke the separate kingdom’s term agreements to side with Equestria so they were able to get much needed supplies neither they or the Crystal Empire had access to.
With some very harsh and loud negotiations between the two nations, it was settled that the griffons may have open trade with Equestria as long as they were to never become allies. After the negotiations were over, Nightmare Moon excused herself from the group to go spend time with her daughter, leaving Sombra to escort the Griffon Ambassadors to the palace gates.
It didn’t take Nightmare Moon very long to find her daughter; mainly because she pretty much knew where Twilight would be at that particular time. As she was walking towards the palace library, she couldn’t help but think that she was forgetting something rather important but couldn’t remember what it was. She knew it was something extremely important because it had something to do with her family.
She continued on her way still trying to figure out what was so important about today. When she came to the library doors a few minutes later, she opened them with a quick flick of magic. Upon the doors opening, she immediately found her daughter too engrossed in her book and facing the other way to notice the doors being opened.
Seeing her daughter like that brought a big smile to her face. That grin eventually turned into a look of surprise when she finally remembered what today was. It was her daughter’s birthday, and her and her husband had completely forgot. Closing her eyes and lighting her horn just a bit, she opened up a psychic link with Sombra and said, ‘Remember when we woke up, but couldn’t remember what was so important about today?’
Sombra was taken aback by the question but quickly responded, ‘Yes I remember. Did you just figure out what was so important?’
‘Yes, as a matter-of-fact I did. It is our daughter’s birthday today. What can we do to remedy this problem as fast as possible?’ Nightmare said, sounding like she was about to break down into sobs.
Sombra took some time to think about the question, and immediately thought of a solution. ‘You know how Twilight likes the heavy black metal music, right?’
‘Yes, what about it?’ Nightmare said with a hint of confusion in her voice.
‘Well, you know how she wanted us to take her to see the band Dimmu Borgir a few days ago. If I recall correctly, they are still in the kingdom getting some rest before their next concert somewhere else,’ Sombra said, with a smile on his face. ‘I also happen to know where they are staying and can have a guard ask if they will do a show for Twilight’s birthday. Maybe have the castle staff take the day off for a palace wide celebration.’
Nightmare Moon gave the proposition some thought, but couldn’t come up with any retorts to the idea. ‘I think it is a wonderful idea. Also make sure to get as many builders as possible to build a stage so the band can perform on. While you do that, I’ll make sure Twilight doesn’t find out about our plan and keep her busy.’
‘Sounds good to me. Let’s get this done as quickly as possible. To make sure it gets done fast, I will personally go ask the band if they would be willing to do it, with a fair pay,’ Sombra said, ending the conversation.
With that out of the way, Nightmare Moon quietly made her way over to her daughter. With a small smirk, she put her hooves over her daughters eyes and asked, “Guess who?”
Twilight was startled, but immediately started laughing and answered the question. “Hey mom, how are you doing this morning?”
“Oh pretty well. I just thought I’d come down her to wish my gorgeous daughter a happy birthday. I also wanted to tell you that your father is away making sure everything is going perfectly for your present,” Nightmare Moon said, doing her best not to spoil the surprise for her daughter.
Twilight couldn’t help herself but start asking, “What is it? What is it? What is it?”
Nightmare gave a small chuckle and calmly answered, “I can’t tell you because it is a surprise. You don’t want to ruin a surprise do you, sweetheart?”
Twilight gave a defeated sigh and said, “No, you’re right. Sorry for trying to spoil the surprise.”
“It’s OK dear,” Nightmare Moon said, giving her daughter a tight hug.
“I do have one question,” Twilight said, breaking out of the embrace.
“And what is it?” Nightmare Moon asked, tilting her head to the side curiously.
“Is my gift something that I would absolutely love?” Twilight asked, fluttering her wings in excitement.
Nightmare Moon gave her daughter a smile and said, “Maybe.”
On the other side of the kingdom
Sombra had just arrived at the hotel room that the band Dimmu Borgir was staying at while in the Crystal Empire. He composed himself and made sure everything was in order before knocking. He didn’t have to wait very long before the door opened to reveal a griffon with odd coloring.
Unlike most griffons who had mostly brown feathers, this griffon had gray and black feathers. He was also quite a bit taller than most griffons, big enough to the point of intimidating Nightmare Moon herself. Sombra took a peak around the griffon at the door and noticed that the other griffons in the room also had the same feather coloring.
The griffon looked down to see who had knocked on the door, and upon noticing The King of the Empire, immediately went into a bow. After rising from the bow, the griffon asked, “To what do we owe this visit from the king of the empire?”
Giving the griffon a friendly smile to the griffon, Sombra asked, “May I come in and explain myself to the entire band, I am kind of in a hurry.”
The griffon politely moved to the side to allow Sombra space to enter. “Please do come in. We were just relaxing before we have to leave for our next show.”
“That’s actually why I am here today. You see, today is my daughter’s birthday and she is a huge fan of you,” Sombra started to explain, taking a seat in the chair offered to him.
“Well, we are happy to know that a member of the royal family is a fan of us. If I may ask though, is that all you came by to tell us?” the griffon sitting at the far end of the couch closest to Sombra asked.
“No. The reason I have come here is because I would like you to perform a concert for my daughter today. I will even make sure you are all paid for any inconvenience this may have on your tour schedule, along with a normal concert pay,” Sombra said, getting straight to the point.
After Sombra finished explaining his proposition, the band gave each other looks of contemplation. On one claw, they get to play for the daughter of King Sombra and get paid for any inconvenience and a normal concert pay. On the other claw, doing this will create major drawbacks for the rest of their tour. After a moment of thinking it through, they finally gave each other a nod of approval.
The griffon from before was the one who gave the response, “We would be honored to perform for your daughter. Just give a few minutes to let our manager, orchestra and choir know that we are performing another show today and we will be there. Where is the stage going to be located so we know where to set up?”
“The stage should be finished being built by the time you get there and will be in the castle courtyard,” Sombra told getting up and walking for the door. “Thank you for doing this, you don’t know how much you’re making my daughter happy right now.” After finishing his statement, he left for his home and spend some much needed time with his daughter.
Back at the palace
Twilight and her mother were roaming the halls enjoying the time they spent together. As they were walking, they didn’t realize that someone was sneaking up on them from behind before it was too late. The black figure pounced and grabbed Twilight from behind, pulling her into a fierce hug.
Twilight was wrapped up tight, but laughing while being hugged by her father. “Dad, what was that for?”
“That was a surprise hug for my little girl, also me and your mother have a wonderful surprise for you,” her father said letting go of his daughter.
“Is it about my birthday present? Cause if it is, I can’t wait anymore the suspense is driving me crazy inside my brain trying to figure out what it is,” Twilight said, not afraid to show how excited she was becoming.
Sombra gave Nightmare Moon a sideways glance as if to say ‘Should we tell?’ After receiving a nod from her, he turned back to his daughter and responded, “It actually is about your present. Would you like to know what it is.”
Twilight nodded her head yes, too excited to actually speak at that moment.
Nightmare Moon just giggled at her daughter’s excitement and decided to take it from there. “You remember how you wanted us to take you to see that band a few days ago?” Twilight nodded in response. “Well, your father went and talked to them while you and I spent the day together.”
Twilight’s expression went from excited to full on ecstatic at what she was hearing. She was stuck between asking where they were going with this, or just listening to what they had to say. Thinking about it for a short while, she just decided to listen.
Getting no response from their daughter, Sombra decided to finish what they were saying. “The reason I went over there and talked to them was to ask a favor of them. That favor was plain and simple, have them perform a concert for your birthday and give the castle staff the day off.”
If Twilight wasn’t flying with joy before, she was now. “Are you serious? Dimmu Borgir is going to perform just for my birthday. This is the greatest thing ever. Thank you so much you guys. You are the best parents ever.”
“If you want to see them, we better hurry to the courtyard. They’re probably done setting everything up,” Sombra said, doing his best to calm his daughter down.
Palace courtyard
After arriving at the palace court yard and going straight to the front of the stage, Twilight was waiting for the band to start playing. It didn’t take long for the orchestra and choir to get started. While the orchestra and choir where doing their thing, Dimmu Borgir was making sure that they had everything together. Right before the choir finished the beginning of the concert, the band came on stage and into position.Right when the choir finished, the lead guitar got straight to work on the first song of the concert. Twilight didn’t have to even take guess at what song was being played first, because it was by far her favorite song. While the vocalist was singing, she was also singing in time with him.

There was a slight pause in vocals, but picked up after about thirty seconds of instrumental.

As the song ended everypony was cheering for more, even the King and Queen. The rest of the concert went on like this for the rest of the time. They even asked that the princess and her parents come up on stage so they could give her something that they rarely did. What they did was so shocking, not even Twilight had a logical explanation for it.
One by one, each member of the band came up to her, bowed in respect, wished her a happy birthday and gave her two things. The first thing they gave her was a feather straight from the top of their head. The second thing they gave her was, either something off of their instrument or some sort of prop that was used in the concert.
After it was all done and the band was packing everything up, Twilights parents led her to their private dining hall for a very special dinner. When they arrived, they noticed that the table was already set and the food was waiting to be eaten.
Twilight was in a deep, peaceful sleep as the sun finally started to rise over the horizon. As Twilight was asleep, she was completely unaware of the tormentor sneaking its way across her floor over to where she was sleeping. Within minutes, the suns light finally shined its light onto Twilights form, cause her to shuffle and groan in annoyance. She even tried to pull her sheets over her face to try and get a few more minutes of sleep.
When that failed, she just gave up on trying to get that few extra moments of sleep to recover from her birthday the day before. She carefully removed the sheets from off her body, and gently rolled out from the bed. Once out of the bed, she stretched out her muscles to loosen them up for the day ahead of her. After stretching, she made her way to take a shower to remove any sweat she might have exuded from her sleep. After a quick shower, she went to her mirror and dutifully brushed her mane.
Once all of her personal hygiene was taken care of, she made her way to the dining hall for breakfast and talk to her parent’s about what will be happening that day. As she was making her way to the dining hall, she was greeted and bowed to by the castle staff and guards.
After about ten minutes of walking, she finally made it to the dining hall. The guards at the door noticed her, bowed then opened the doors for their princess. After the door was opened, she walked into the hall thanking the guards as she walked past them.
When she passed through the threshold into the dining hall, she noticed her parent’s sitting in their respective seats waiting for to arrive before starting breakfast. She walked up to her parent’s, giving each of them a hug while at the same time saying, “Good morning mom and dad. How you both doing this morning?”
It was her father who answered the question once Twilight had sat down in her seat. “We are doing great this fine morning. In fact, there is something we want to tell you.”
Twilight’s ears perked up hearing this news. “Really, what is it?”
This time it was her mother who answered, “You remember when I told you about Princess Celestia, ruler of Equestria?”
Twilight thought about it for a second before replying, “Yes, you told me she is your sister and my aunt. What about her?”
“Unfortunately for her, she doesn’t know she’s an aunt,” Nightmare Moon said. “She has no idea that you even exist. Which is why I sent her a letter telling her that all three of us are coming down for a short visit to introduce you to the rest of our family. How does that sound?”
Twilight took a little bit of time to process the information she had just been told. After some time, she asked, “When are we leaving for Canterlot?”
Before Nightmare Moon could respond, Sombra answered the question. “We are going to be leaving as soon as we finish breakfast. Don’t worry about packing anything, because that has already been done after you left your room.”
Canterlot Castle Throne Room
Princess Celestia was sitting on her throne, listening to a petitioner talking about trying to make the train station in Manehattan bigger to accommodate the amount of ponies leaving and entering the city. Princess Celestia was nodding her head showing acknowledgement, but was really thinking about something else entirely.
“So as you can tell, with all the ponies coming and going in Manehattan, making the train stat… uh, princess are you OK? It doesn’t look like you’re paying any attention. If you want, I could come back another time,” the petitioner said concern evident in his voice.
“I’m sorry, I’m just thinking about something that’s going to be happening today. I think it would be a good idea for you to come back another time. How about coming back tomorrow around noon to finish this business,” Princess Celestia said, trying to maintain a calm and collective demeanor infront of her subject.
“That sounds good to me, your highness,” the petitioner said, bowing before getting his things together to leave. “I will see you tomorrow at noon, your majesty.”
After the petitioner left, Princess Celestia called in her loyalist guards to speak with them. After a few seconds, five mares entered the throne room wearing bright silver armor discerning them from the rest of the guard. Once the five mares reached the steps to the throne, they bowed deeply. There was a bit of silence before it stopped by the orange guard who spoke first.
“May Ah ask what this is ‘bout, your highness?”
The rest of the mares looked from the orange guard to the princess with a look of confusion on their faces.
Princess Celestia sighed before responding, “The reason I have called you in here is because we have some very important visitors coming to the castle today, and I want you to be aware of whom they are.
“You know how my sister, Nightmare Moon and her husband King Sombra, are the rulers of the Crystal Empire,” At this the guards nodded, letting Princess Celestia continue, “Well, she sent me a letter this morning telling me that her and her husband are coming down to introduce me to somepony. I don’t know who this pony is, but they must be important if they are coming here with my sister and brother-in-law.
“As to why I called you in here, you are to make sure that nothing happens to them while they are here in Canterlot. Is that clear?” Princess Celestia finished.
“Yes ma’am,” the guards said in unison with a salute.
“Good. Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy, you will be in charge of the pegasi guards in the sky making sure nothing attacks from above. Applejack and Pinkie Pie, you will make sure that the road is clear as they make their way to the castle from the train station. You will also have a fair amount of guards to help you with your jobs. Rarity, you and about fifteen other guards will be escorting our company to the castle,” Princess Celestia said, with a full authoritative tone.
The five guards saluted, but it was Rainbow Dash who asked the question on all their minds, “When will they be arriving at the train station?”
“They should be arriving in about ten minutes. Get your troops together and head down there immediately,” Princess Celestia said with a calm but commanding voice.
ON THE TRAIN OUTSIDE CANTERLOT
“So Twilight, are you ready to meet your aunt for the first time?” Nightmare Moon asked her daughter.
Twilight was quick to respond with a smile on her face, “Very much so, mom. What do you think she’ll say when she finds out she’s an aunt?”
It was Sombra who answered the question, “That’s a tough question to answer Twilight, considering the only family she’s ever known was your mother. But I’m sure she’ll love to get to know you once she meet’s you.”
“I know she’ll be glad to be an aunt, but just know that whatever happens, we will always be here for you,” Nightmare Moon said, giving her daughter a hug for assurance. “Oh look we’re finally here, and by the looks of it, my sister was even kind enough to give us an escort to the castle.”
Sure enough, standing on the platform of the train station were about fifteen guards, one of which was wearing silver armor. This guard was an alabaster white unicorn mare, with a royal purple mane and tail. Being the only guard in silver armor, she was probably the one in charge of escorting them to the castle.
The train slowed to a stop at the station, the doors opening with the help of magic from the conductor. The guards at the station tensed their muscles, with a stoic expression on their faces waiting for the important guests to exit the train. They didn’t have to wait long, because after a second, a black alicorn, grey unicorn with a red horn and a lavender alicorn appeared from within the train.
“Hello there, my name is Nightmare Moon. This is my husband King Sombra, and our daughter Twilight Sparkle,” Nightmare moon told the guards before continuing. “We are here to see my sister, Princess Celestia. I assume she sent you here to escort us to the castle.”
It was the white unicorn in the silver armor to respond, “I am Commander Rarity of the Equestrian Royal Guard, and yes she did send us to escort you to the castle. There is a group of pesasi guard clearing the sky of any trouble, along with another group of guards making a clear path from here to the castle. If you’ll please follow me, we will be there shortly.”
“Very well, lead the way,” Nightmare Moon replied.
CANTERLOT CASTLE THRONE ROOM
Princess Celestia was sitting on her throne going over some documents that her secretary brought to her, when she heard a knock on the door.
“Come in,” she said loud enough to be heard from the pony on the other side of the door.
The doors opened to reveal an orange guard in silver armor, “Your guests have arrived, your highness.”
“Thank you Applejack. Please bring them in,” Princess Celestia said.
Applejack saluted, and walked out to inform the guests that they may enter. After about two minutes, the doors re-opened to reveal Nightmare Moon, King Sombra and Twilight Sparkle. To say Princess Celestia was shocked to see another alicorn, besides herself and her sister, was an understatement to say the least.
“Hello sister, how have you been this past millennium?” Nightmare Moon asked, as she made her way closer to the throne.
“I have been fine, and how about you? How have you and Sombra been?” Princess Celestia said, gesturing to said stallion. “Hello again Sombra.”
This time it was Sombra who spoke, “We haven’t been better. In fact, we have been doing extremely great thanks to Twilight here,” Sombra said, pulling Twilight closer to him and giving her a hug.
“I was just about to ask about her. It is not every day you see an alicorn, besides myself or you sister. Who is she, if I may ask?” Princess Celestia said, nodding her head in the direction of Twilight.
“Young Twilight here is actually mine and Sombra’s pride and joy. For you see Celestia, Twilight is our daughter making you her aunt,” Nightmare Moon said, with a smirk on her face.
Celestia audibly gasped at hearing this news. She knew that after Nightmare Moon and Sombra got married, they wanted to have a child, but she never knew they would have had one so soon. “May I ask when she was born? Don’t get me wrong, I’m extremely happy for you, and myself. I would just like to know for my curiosity to be dealt with.”
Sombra and Nightmare Moon gave each other stare’s, thinking who should be the one to tell. It was ultimately decided with a loving smile from Nightmare Moon that it would be Sombra to tell.
“She was born around a thousand years ago yesterday,” Sombra said, with a smile on his face.
If Celestia’s jaw wasn’t agape before, it certainly was now. “You mean to tell me, she was born a thousand years ago, but never bothered to tell me. Who do you think you are not telling me I had a niece until all this time has passed?”
It was a dark purple shot of lightning that answered her question. “Who do you think you are talking to my parent’s that way,” Twilight said, almost yelling. “My parent’s told me that you are one of the kindest ponies that they've ever known, and you yell at them for waiting for the right time to introduce me to you. That’s not what I think about when I’m told that person is made out to be the kindest pony in the world.”
At this, Nightmare Moon and Sombra were both proud that their daughter was showing her aggressive side and shocked that the bolt of lightning she shot was about two inches from hitting Celestia. It was Nightmare Moon who moved to Twilight and try and calm her down.
“Twilight, please calm down before you do something you’ll regret later,” Nightmare Moon said to her daughter, giving her a tight hug, doing her best to calm down Twilight.
“I’m sorry mom, but she shouldn't be talking to you like that. I mean, she’s your older sister, she should be setting the example of kindness,” Twilight told her mom while returning the hug.
“How dare you attack me in my own castle! You may be my niece, but that doesn't give you the right to attack me. Guards, please escort these ponies out of my castle,” Celestia shouted in the royal canterlot voice.
This pushed both Sombra and Nightmare Moon over the edge. “How dare you talk to our daughter that way. We came here so you can meet your niece, and you go and blame us for waiting till the world was done recovering from Discord’s rule. If you can’t put that aside, then you are no longer my sister,” Nightmare Moon shouted back, also using the royal canterlot voice.
“Mom, what are you saying?” Twilight asked confusion evident in her voice.
Nightmare Moon turned to her husband and daughter before saying, “What I’m saying is that we are never going to be interacting with her ever again. I’m sorry Twilight; I know how much you were looking forward to getting to know your aunt better. But the way she just yelled at you, made me angrier than I've ever been in a very long time.”
After that was said, Twilight Sparkle, Sombra and Nightmare Moon left the castle and headed back to the train to go home.
