Strange things have been happening in the little settler town of Appleloosa, and Braeburn has been caught right in the middle.  Tremendous earthquakes have rocked the deserts, the buffalo have been acting suspiciously, and a new arrival in town has left Braeburn questioning the life he thought he had.

Big Macintosh seems like a simple pony who keeps to himself and doesn't say much, but there's more going on beneath the surface of this red stallion than it would seem at first glance. After his family urges him to go and make some friends in town, Big Macintosh finds himself meeting interesting ponies and discovering a whole world outside of his farm. But even with these new experiences, old memories and ghosts from the past resurface to haunt him. Big Macintosh finds himself confronted with something he thought he put behind him long ago…

Rarity finds it difficult to be generous to the pony who needs it most.  Can these two ponies, who don't seem to have anything in common, overcome their differences?

After a big fight between the Cutie Mark Crusaders, Sweetie Belle wonders if she ever had any real friends.  When she sees how close her sister and her friends are as they prepare for their vacation, she becomes envious.  Wanting to make some new, real friends, she secretly joins them on their vacation.
