The aftermath of the Golden Oak library's destruction and its affect on Twilight has been explored many times in fan fiction, so I was interested in seeing the "canon" take on the issue.
I liked that the library's destruction was treated as a personal loss for Twilight and Spike, and that Twilight wasn't immediately comfortable in the new castle. I also liked the references to past episodes involving the library, culminating in the tree-root chandelier.

1575999 Thanks, I'm very glad you got 'into' MLP:FiM fanfic because of this story of mine.
I forget if I mentioned this, but a sequel is in the works, albeit slowly, that will have John and Princesses Twilight and Luna meeting again (or for the first time in Luna's case). It may also mention some of Wellman's non-Silver John stories. If I can work the mentions in properly.

I actually discovered fimfiction.net because of My Little Balladeer. In addition to being a brony, I'm also a fan of Wellman's "Silver John" stories. One day, I was doing a google search on Wellman and found My Little Balladeer. The idea of a Silver John/MLP crossover intrigued me, so I gave it a read. I've been hooked on MLP fan fiction ever since.
