In this human version of "Rarity Takes Manehatten" Twilight returns to the human world to join her friends for a once in a lifetime trip to Boston for a fashion show Rarity is competing in.
This is basically sort of a sequel to "Rarity Takes Manehatten" in which Twilight returns to the other side of the portal and rejoins her friends in the human world right after school ended and they take trip to the best city in the world, Boston! :) UPDATE WRITTEN ON FEBRUARY 15TH, 2015: Due to the fact that I'm getting negative criticism for various reasons, I'm planning to rewrite this story entirely from scratch. I apologize to anyone who was disappointed in the way this story came out for this was one of my first stories and I felt rushed to get the idea for this story put out there and I put almost no effort into writing it. I promise the new version of this story is gonna be longer, more detailed, and filled with the Mane 6, the CMC, (and possibly Sunset Shimmer) going to the numerous attractions Boston has to offer. As you may know ever since Twilight became the Princess of Friendship, her life has been anything but normal. She tried to spend most of her time hanging out with her family and friends and bonding with Princess Cadance. But one day, she received a letter from her friends in the human world.
"Wow, I'm sort of surprised they waited this long to check in on me. I wonder what they want." said Twilight as she opened the envelope.
The letter read: Dear Twilight Sparkle, I hope you're doing well ever since you got back your crown and defeated Sunset Shimmer. We were wondering if you can and if you're interested in going with us to Boston for a fashion show that Rarity is competing in. It should be a very fun time and we would love to have you join us for this once in a lifetime opportunity to see one of the most world class cities in the world! Hope to see you soon. Your friends, Rainbow Dash, Pinkie Pie, Fluttershy, Rarity, and Applejack.
After reading this letter, Twilight knew that this was the perfect opportunity for her to reunite with her friends in the human world and decided to accept the invite.
Before she made her return to the other side of the portal, Twilight made sure that Princess Celestia was cool with her returning to the place where Sunset Shimmer attempted to use the power of her crown to do evil things.
"Twilight, I will let you go back to the other side of the portal but promise you will return before it closes which I believe is in ten days. I wish you nothing but the best on your return journey to this mysterious land." said Princess Celestia with a smile on her face.
"Thanks Princess. I'll write you a letter the day before my friends and I return from Boston." said Twilight.
Right after she said these words, Twilight stepped foot into the portal and was on her way back to the mysterious land where her human friends were eagerly waiting and anticipating the long waited return of the person/pony who reunited them and made them friends again.
Here she was, once again, in the mysterious land where Sunset Shimmer attempted to steal her crown. This time, Twilight knew how to move in the strange world. After she made it through the portal, Twilight looked across the street and saw her friends along with three younger girls who Twilight assumed to be Scootaloo, Sweetie Belle, and Applebloom waiting for her to arrive. Once she crossed the street, her friends immediately approached her and were overwhelmed to see their long-lost friend.
"I can't tell you how much we missed you!" said Fluttershy with a smile on her face.
"I'm so blessed and honored you can join us for what will likely a marvelous trip to Boston!" said Rarity.
"This is gonna be so awesome!" said Rainbow Dash.
"We're gonna party like there's no tomorrow!" said Pinkie Pie.
"Thank goodness the princess can come with us to Boston!" said Applejack.
"Thanks for inviting me girls. I was really looking forward to seeing you again. So when are going to Boston?" said Twilight.
"Our private jet to Boston is tonight at 7. Once we get to Boston, we're gonna check into our hotel and then we'll go on from there." said Rarity.
"Well then, what are we waiting for girls?!??! Let's ship up to Boston!" said Rainbow Dash and the gang headed to the airport and boarded their private jet that officially started their journey to Boston!
After landing in Boston after what was about a 2 hour flight, the girls took a taxi to the hotel where they were staying at, the Four Seasons Hotel, which was one of the most popular hotels in the city.
"So here's what we got. We got three luxury suites which means three of us will be in each room." said Rarity.
"How are we gonna split this up?" asked Rainbow Dash.
"Well..... I was thinking I could share a room with Twilight and Sweetie Belle, Rainbow Dash, Fluttershy, and Scootaloo could be in the second, and Pinkie Pie, Applejack, and Applebloom could be in the third." said Rarity.
"Sounds fair enough to me." said Fluttershy.
"Alright enough jibber-jatter. Let's go hit the hay. I'm exhausted." said Applejack.
The girls went up to their rooms exhausted from the long trip but were excited about what was going to be a trip unlike any other!
The next morning, the girls met up for breakfast before Rarity had to go prepare for the fashion show she was competing in.
"So tell us a bit about the world you live in." said Applejack.
"Well where I live is very similar to here. My friends in my world are exactly like you guys. My friend Rainbow Dash is very athletic. My friend Pinkie Pie is a party animal. My friend Fluttershy loves animals. My friend Rarity is very enthusiastic about fashion. And my friend Applejack is a southern farm girl." said Twilight.
"Wow, I wonder what would happen if your friends from your world came to our world." said Fluttershy.
"I think you'd really like them. They look exactly like you." said Twilight.
"Oh oh oh, does your world have someone who looks like me?" asked Sweetie Belle.
"Why yes. She's Rarity's younger sister like you." said Twilight.
"What about me?" asked Scootaloo.
"You too. She's almost like Rainbow Dash's sister like you." said Twilight.
"Me too?" asked Applebloom.
"Yep. She's Applejack and Big Mac's little sister like you." said Twilight.
"Geez, why didn't you tell us this earlier. Maybe we'll come visit you in your world and meet your friends." said Rainbow Dash.
"Yeah I know. That would be very cool." said Twilight.
All of a sudden, Rarity realized she needed to get going for the fashion show she was competing in but she had a little surprise for her friends.
"Girls I need to get going for my fashion show but I got a little surprise for you. Tonight while I'm working hard and missing out on time with my friends, you will be treated to a night of America's national pastime, at Fenway Park!" said Rarity with a smile on her face.
"Cool, front row!" said Sweetie Belle.
"Oh my goodness! How did you get those tickets?" asked Fluttershy.
"Yeah you know. I know people." said Rarity.
"Thank you so much Rarity. That was very generous of you!" said Pinkie Pie.
"Enjoy your day girls!" said Rarity and she left to prepare for the fashion show.
After finding out about their big surprise, the girls decided to do some exploring around the city until the game that night.
"Let's make this day worth while. We got all the time in the world to explore this great city until the game tonight. We're gonna have some fun here." said Rainbow Dash.
"What are we gonna do first?" asked Applebloom.
"Well I was thinking you girls are old enough to be by yourselves so I was thinking you can go to the Museum of Science while we go shopping and go to a fancy restaurant for lunch." said Applejack.
"Cool!" said Sweetie Belle. "We'll pick you girls up at around 4 so we can hit the North End before we head to Fenway tonight at 7." said Rainbow Dash.
"Oh thank you thank you thank you! We'll stay together and be on our best behavior." said Scootaloo.
"Alright girls, have fun and stay together." said Applejack and Sweetie Belle, Scootaloo, and Applebloom headed to the Museum of Science while the others went off on a shopping spree of a lifetime.
After sending Scootaloo, Sweetie Belle, and Applebloom off to the Museum of Science, the girl got in a taxi and started planning out their shopping spree.
"Rarity told me about this huge shopping center called Copley Place. She said it has a lot of stores where she gets inspiration for her fashion." said Fluttershy.
"What kinds of stores are there?" asked Applejack.
"Well there's stores such as J. Crew and Victoria's Secret." said Fluttershy.
"You know it kind of stinks that Rarity can't come shopping with us. Shopping is one of her favorite things to do." said Rainbow Dash.
"Dashie, don't get down on yourself. Rarity is happy that we get to spend some quality time together although she really wanted to be with us. We'll hang out with her tonight if we get the chance." said Twilight.
"Ok girls, we're here. Let's do this!" said Pinkie Pie and the girls began their shopping spree.
After an afternoon filled with shopping and quality bonding time, the girls reunited with Scootaloo, Sweetie Belle, and Applebloom and headed to the North End for dinner before the game.
"So girls, did you enjoy the museum?" asked Fluttershy.
"It was so cool. There was all sorts of cool exhibits and a 4D movie theater." said Scootaloo.
"So where to for dinner?" asked Twilight.
"Rarity told me the North End is home to some of the best Italian restaurants in the world. She highly recommended we go to Lo Conte's." said Applejack.
"Sounds good enough. I'm starving after that four hour shopping spree we just pulled off." said Rainbow Dash.
"How did your day go?" asked Sweetie Belle.
"Oh my goodness! It was so fun! We went shopping in like 5 or 6 different stores and spent almost all our money!" said Pinkie Pie.
"Can we come shopping with you tomorrow if you go?" asked Applebloom.
"Um sure if you really feel like you can handle it. The shopping spree was pretty hard core." said Applejack.
"Ok girls. We're here for dinner but we kinda need to hurry so we have enough time to go back to the hotel to get dressed for the game." said Fluttershy and they headed inside for a delicious pasta dinner.
After enjoying what was probably the best meal they had in ages, the girls headed back to the hotel to get ready to go the Red Sox game that Rarity hooked them up with.
"This is gonna be so fun! I've always wanted to go to Fenway Park!" said Rainbow Dash.
"I know right. Baseball is more fun to watch in person than on TV." said Applejack.
"We don't have baseball in my world. Could someone sort of explain to me what's happening while we're at the game?" asked Twilight.
"Sure thing Twilight. Baseball isn't very difficult to understand." said Sweetie Belle.
But right before they left, Rarity caught up with them with tears running down her face.
"Oh no! This is terrible!" she cried.
"What's wrong?" asked Fluttershy.
"One of the other contestants in the fashion show somehow completely copied my line and I now I may have to completely redo all my work!" cried Rarity.
"Oh that's terrible. Maybe we can help you tomorrow with fixing your clothes tomorrow morning before we go on our second shopping spree." said Fluttershy.
"Oh you would? Oh my goodness thank you so much! That would mean the world to me! But what am I doing holding you back on your girls' night? Go enjoy the game!" said Rarity with a smile on her face.
"Are you sure you don't wanna come with us? Maybe we can get you another ticket near where we're sitting." said Rainbow Dash.
"No don't worry about me. I have a lot of work to do. Thanks anyway." said Rarity.
After Rarity went back to her room, the girls headed to Fenway.
Once the girls arrived at Fenway, they determined where they were sitting.
"Cool! Rarity got us seats in the Green Monster! That must the coolest seats in the stadium!" said Pinkie Pie.
"Let's enjoy the game and our time together girls. We're leaving Boston in two days and we don't have much time left to enjoy each other's company." said Applejack.
It was the perfect night for baseball. The temperature was around 75-80 degrees and the breeze was coming from the south side.
"Wow! The view is amazing!" said Applebloom.
"Rarity really outdid herself this time!" said Rainbow Dash.
Later around the third inning a guy who seemed to be from the Air Force, sat next to Rainbow Dash.
"Hey Dashie. Kind of weird to be seeing you around here." said the guy.
It was Soarin', Rainbow Dash's boyfriend who enlisted in the Air Force after he graduated from Canterlot High.
"Oh my gosh! How did you know I'm here?! I missed you so much!" said Rainbow Dash and she hugged him.
"I talked to Rarity in advance about meeting up with you girls at the game and surprise Rainbow Dash. We haven't seen each other in nearly a year." said Soarin.
"Who are you with?" asked Soarin'.
"I'm with Fluttershy, Twilight, Pinkie Pie, Applejack, Applejack's sister Applebloom, Rarity's sister Sweetie Belle, and my sister Scootaloo. The three of them will be sophomores next year." said Rainbow Dash.
"Who's this Twilight girl?" asked Soarin'.
"Twilight was a girl who turned out to be from another universe who helped my friends reunite after Sunset Shimmer ruined our relationships.". said Rainbow Dash.
"Where are you guys staying?" asked Soarin'.
"We're staying at the Four Seasons Hotel." said Sweetie Belle.
"Oh cool! That's where I'm staying too with my friend Spitfire and another friend of mine." said Soarin'.
"Where are you stationed?" asked Rainbow Dash.
"Right now, Spitfire and I stationed in Houston but we're currently on a six month break period." said Soarin'.
After the game, Rainbow Dash and Soarin' walked out the girls' taxi and started crying in each other's arms knowing they may not see each other for a long time.
"If I don't see you before my next deployment, I want you to know I love you so much Dashie!" cried Soarin'.
"Same to you Soarin'. I hope to see you before your next deployment so I can remind you how much I love you!" cried Rainbow Dash.
After getting in the cab, Rainbow Dash couldn't stop crying because she knew she may not see Soarin' again until he returned from his next deployment.
"It's ok Dashie. We should be thankful that Soarin' is risking his life for the good of our country. Just remember he loves you with all his heart and soul." said Fluttershy.
"You're right. I'm so proud of him but I'm gonna miss him so much!" cried Rainbow Dash.
It was a bit difficult for Rainbow Dash to get over the fact that she may not see her boyfriend again for a long time but once they got back to the hotel, she stopped crying and realized how thankful she was to have the best friends in the world.
The next morning, just as they promised, the girls stayed at the hotel to help Rarity fix her clothing for the fashion show.
"Thanks again for being willing to sacrifice some of your free time to help me. I don't know what I could have done without you." said Rarity.
"Anything for a true friend." said Fluttershy.
"Oh Rarity. Do we really have to sit around and wait for the others to finish helping you before we go shopping?" asked Sweetie Belle.
"You know what Sweetie Belle, you, Scootaloo, and Applebloom can go to the pool and the girls will get you before they go shopping." said Rarity.
"Sounds good to me!" said Sweetie Belle and she, Scootaloo, and Applebloom went to the pool.
"Rarity, thank you so much for getting Soarin' to come to the game last night. I was really surprised and happy to see him. How'd you get him to come?" asked Rainbow Dash.
"I talked to Soarin' about a week before we were due to go to Boston and he told me he and a couple of friends of his were going to Boston for a business trip. I asked him if was interested in meeting up with you girls at the game last night and he was more than happy to make time for you." said Rarity with a smile on her face.
"You know it means the world to me when I get to see Soarin' because I haven't been able to see him very much ever since he enlisted in the Air Force. It almost feels like I don't see him at all! I'm gonna miss him so much when he gets redeployed!" said Rainbow Dash and she started bursting into tears.
"You know what girls, I think you've helped me enough. I'll let you go shopping for a bit but try to be at the theater tonight by 6 because the show starts at around 7." said Rarity.
"Fair enough." said Applejack.
"Also, good luck trying to get your sisters out of the pool!" said Rarity.
"Will do! C'mon girls! Let's do round 2 of the shopping spree!" said Pinkie Pie and girls went for round 2 of their shopping spree except this time with Sweetie Belle, Scootaloo, and Applebloom tagging along with them.
While the girls were helping Rarity with her clothing, Sweetie Belle, Scootaloo, and Applebloom went to the pool.
"This is gonna be so fun!" said Scootaloo.
"This is our first swim of the summer!" said Sweetie Belle.
"Ok. Let's jump in together holding hands!" said Applebloom and they jumped in.
"That was so fun! Let's do a best cannonball contest!" said Scootaloo.
Applebloom jumped in and made a small splash. Sweetie Belle's jump produced a splash a little bigger than Applebloom's. But Scootaloo's jump produced a splash that was anything but small.
"Oh yeah! I win again!" said Scootaloo and they all laughed. They enjoyed their time in the pool until the others came to pick them up for their shopping spree.
"Ok girls, time to get out if y'all wanna come shopping with us." said Applejack.
"Oh ok." said the Sweetie Belle, Scootaloo, and Applebloom and they got out of the pool, dried off, and got dressed quickly so they could go shopping with the others.
After sending the others off on their second shopping spree, Rarity got together her redone clothing and headed down to the Wang Theater to make final preparations for the show that night. Once she arrived, she decided to sort things out with the girl who copied her clothing.
"Hey, I didn't get to talk to you yesterday but I got a bone to pick with you!" said Rarity with a stern look on her face.
"Oh please, who do you think are calling me a copy cat?!?! I didn't do nothing wrong!" said the other contestant.
"Oh shut up. You're lucky I haven't reported you to the judges." said Rarity.
"I did nothing wrong. It just so happened our clothing looks exactly alike!" said the other contestant.
"WHAT?!?!? I may not look like the kind of girl who's afraid to take things to a physical level, but I'm not afraid to take it there if need be." said Rarity.
"Please, you don't know nothing about fashion. Your clothing to me is garbage You're gonna get blown out!" said the other contestant.
"AFRAID TO GET DIRTY?!?!?!?!?!" screamed Rarity.
But right before it could get any further, another contestant came over and broke it up.
"Girls please, calm down. I just talked to one of the judges and they said it's ok for two contestants to have clothing that is similar or exactly alike." said the contestant who broke them up.
"Ok fine. We'll see who gets the last laugh based on who wins tonight." said Rarity as she walked in the other direction.
"Good luck. I hope the judges don't mistake my fabulous clothing for your garbage clothing!" said the other contestant.
About 2 and a half hours the show was supposed to start, Rarity met up with the others back at the hotel to prepare for the fashion show that night.
"So you what are you thinking about what we should wear to the show tonight?" asked Rainbow Dash.
"You don't need to worry about that. It just so happened that I saved our dresses from the Fall Formal and brought them with me so you don't have to worry about finding something nice to wear to the show tonight." said Rarity.
"Did you save my dress too?" asked Applebloom.
"Why yes. I saved your dress along with Sweetie Belle's and Scootaloo's". said Rarity.
"Ok girls it's time to get.... FABULOUS!" said Rarity.
Before the girls headed to the Wang Theater for the show, Twilight wrote a letter to Princess Celestia just as she promised she would. It read: Dear Princess Celestia, I am happy to report I am having the time of my life with my friends in the human world. This sort of reminds me of when me and my pony friends went to Manehatten. Boston is such a cool city and I kinda wish you were here to see it. I should back in Equestria by either tomorrow or the next day. Tell my pony friends I'm looking forward to spending time with them once I return. Yours truly, Princess Twilight Sparkle.
Tonight was the night. The night that Rarity finally had the chance for people to recognize her and see if she has potential to succeed in the fashion industry. Once the girls arrived at the Wang Theater, they sat in the front row.
"Oh my gosh I'm so nervouscited!" said Pinkie Pie.
"I'm pretty sure Rarity feels the same way too. If she finished in the top 5, she's moving on to the semi finals in Miami." said Sweetie Belle.
"Hey, maybe if she moves on, we'll do a trip like this except it will be in Miami." said Scootaloo.
"Now now, let's not get ahead of ourselves. We still gotta get through tonight before we think about the future." said Applejack.
After about an hour and a half of fashion, the results were announced.
"And the winner of the Young Guns Fashion Show Northeast regional final is..... Rarity from Canterlot High!" said the judges.
After hearing her name called, Rarity ran up on to the stage feeling excited and overwhelmed about what she just accomplished.
"Oh my gosh, somebody pinch me because I must be dreaming! Anyway... woo, first off I'd like to thank my 5 best friends who made the trip with me to Boston to support me and my little sister Sweetie Belle who played a major role in helping me prepare for the show! I don't know where I'd be right now if it weren't for you girls! Thank you for this and I look forward to representing the northeast region in Miami!" said Rarity and she walked off stage.
The next morning despite being exhausted from last night, the girls had a little celebration for Rarity before their flight back home.
"Congrats Rarity! We're so proud of you!" said Fluttershy.
"I'm still in shock that I actually won the entire regional. I'm gonna have to work twice as hard if I have chance of winning the nation semifinal. I think when the semifinal date gets announced, I think I'm gonna invite all of you again." said Rarity.
"Hey Twilight, do you think you'd be up for coming with us to Miami for the semifinal once we know the dates?" asked Rainbow Dash.
"It depends on what my schedule in my universe is but I'd be up for it if I'm not doing anything around the date." said Twilight.
"Yay! Miami is like party central! I'm so nervouscited for the semifinal!" said Pinkie Pie.
Later that day, the girls boarded their private jet back home knowing that they would have to say good-bye to Twilight for now.
As soon as Twilight returned to Equestria, she was immediately embraced by her Ponyville friends.
"Twilight, please tell us what you did on the other side of the portal." said Rarity.
"It's a long story but I'll tell you the important parts. Right when I entered the other side of the portal, my friends and I traveled to Boston on this thing called a jet. At the hotel we stayed at, I shared a room with the human Rarity and the human Sweetie Belle. The next day, we went shopping at a mall called Copley Place where we spent almost all our money on clothing. That night, we went to a baseball game at Fenway Park where human Rainbow Dash reunited with human Soarin' who were actually dating. The next night, we went to the fashion show that human Rarity was competing in." said Twilight.
"What happened there?" asked Fluttershy.
"Ok I'm gonna have a hard time saying this but Rarity, the human version of you won the show and is moving on to the national semifinal in Miami." said Twilight.
"YES! At least she's chasing the same dream I'm chasing!" said Rarity.
"Princess, I need to tell you that I may go to the semifinal my friends in the human world depending on the dates of the show. They're gonna let me know once they know for sure." said Twilight.
"Sounds good to me. It seemed like you had a good time with your friends on the other side of the portal." said Princess Celestia.
"Wait a minute, it doesn't make any since that the human version of me is dating the human version of Soarin'. In Equestria, Soarin' and I are just really good friends." said Rainbow Dash.
"Uh, I don't really have an explanation for that." said Twilight.
"Alright girls, let's head back to my place to party like there's no tomorrow since Twilight's back!" said Pinkie Pie.
It has been about a month since Twilight was officially named the Princess of Friendship and found out that her castle was hidden in the chest that came out of the Tree of Harmony. Although Twilight loved nothing more than being with her friends from Equestria, she sometimes thought from time to time if she would ever see her friends from CHS again. That answer came on one particular day when Twilight and her friends were discussing the possibility of making a return trip to Manehatten. Spike came running into the room seeming desperate. “What's with all the hurry Spike?” asked Twilight. Spike didn't say anything but rather burped up a rolled up piece of paper. “I wonder who this is from.” Said Twilight as she unrolled the piece of paper. “What does the letter say?” asked Fluttershy. “It's a message from my CHS friends that says ‘Dear Twilight, First of all congrats on being named the Princess of Friendship in your universe. We were wondering if you were able to and interested in joining us for a trip to Boston for a fashion show Rarity is competing in. It's gonna be a lot of fun and we would love to have you join us for what's gonna be an awesome trip to a marvelous city. We hope to see you soon. Your friends, Rainbow Dash, Pinkie Pie, Fluttershy, Rarity, Applejack, and Sunset Shimmer.’” said Twilight. “What the hay is Boston?” asked Applejack. “I have no idea but I'm really looking forward to finding out very soon what it is.” Said Twilight. “What do you mean darling? Please don't tell us you’re planning to bail out on us right when we start talking about a possible return trip to Manehatten.” said Rarity. "Rarity's right Sugarcube. We might be leaving for Manhattan as early as tomorrow and we don't want you to miss out on all the fun." said Applejack. "You know when you come to think of it I can possibly move the trip to next week if I cancel a few appointments. That means you can visit your friends at the other side of the portal and go to this place they call 'Boston' and still be able to come with us to Manehatten." said Rarity. "Thanks Rarity. Sorry I had to do this to you guys on such short notice." said Twilight. Twilight then rebooted the makeshift portal she used to get to the human universe when she had to go to CHS to help defeat the Dazzlings. "Have fun and be safe." said Fluttershy. "I'll see you guys soon." said Twilight and she stepped into the portal and was on her way to see her friends in the human world.
