Pokemon: The Equestria Region

When Celestia messes up a spell big time, a new species of creatures appears in Equestria, along with these odd red and white balls. They seem to repeat their name over and over, and might turn everything upside down, and cause chaos for all.

Celestia's mistake

Princess Celestia stood in her throne room, a stand and a large book in front of her. She wanted to conjure something, and she had forgotten the spell. It had been more years than she bothered to count since she had practiced it. She flipped the pages quickly, the soft breeze of the dusty old book blowing on her face. The scent was comfortable, and very familiar. "Aha!" She said, as she came to the right page. She murmured the spell, her horn glowing. But, in the middle of the spell, Luna burst into the room, her eyes wide, which startled Celestia, and she toppled backwards. A white and red flash exploded from her horn, sending Luna toppling as well.

The windows of the castle flashed with red and white, and the ponies nearby screamed in fright, as red and white tendrils of smoke drifted out, creating a thick fog, that spread quickly. It went down the mountain and filled other towns with the smoke-like fog. A few hours later, the fog had consumed Equestria. It was thought unimaginable, but there are firsts for everything. The smoke thickened, and it was hard for anypony to see more than a few inches in front of them. Celestia stepped backwards, her mouth hanging open in a gasp. A huge whitish-gray and dark grey thing with some kind of golden decorations on it stood in front of her, some sort of long horn sticking out behind it.

"Greetings, I am Arceus, creator of the Pokemon. You have summoned us here, is this true?" It asked, eying Celestia.

"I-i guess I did, um, Arceus." Celestia stammered, even she was intimidated by this towering creature.

"Why?" He asked her.

"I tried to do something else, I'm sorry." She replied, backing up a few steps.

"Well, we will just have to make ourselves at home, then. Millions of creatures like me are now stuck here, and we can't leave." He explained to her.

"Gah! Millions?" Celestia exclaimed, her eyes glinting with terror at the thought of millions of this guy running about, causing trouble and chaos.

"Yes and No. No, it's not going to be all only me, and Yes, millions." Arceus said.

"So, there are a lot of different kinds?" Celestia asked, beginning to understand.

"Yes, and they each have special powers. It could be troublesome, and they do not listen to me." Arceus said, looking over at her.

"What kind? Like magic?" Celestia asked curiously.

"Like fire, and water, and Ice, and stuff like that." He said.

"Oh no! That could be even worse!" Celestia cried.

"It could, but are there ponies that are especially loyal to you? Ones that would accept such an important task?" Arceus asked her.

"Yes, Twilight Sparkle, and her five friends, possibly a few fillies," She said. "Why?"

"Well, you see. Back in our world, people used to catch us Pokemon, and battle us, as trainers. There was a pokemon league, made by the best trainers to prove their strength. At the end, is the champion. If they can beat it they might have a standing chance against ponies who become corrupted with all the power they can get from these creatures. It has happened, many, many times. I sense it is happening now." Arceus explained, looking dead at her.

"Right now?" Celestia said, bewildered.

"Yes, I can't be sure, because the surroundings are unfamiliar." He responded.

"Uh, Celestia, there's another creature thing there, I think it's trying to talk to me." Luna said nervously, confronted by a black creature with some sort of red spiky collar and white wispy hair that waved in the wind.

"Yes I'm trying to talk to you, listen!" It said to her as she called to Celestia.

"Fine, I'm Luna, what do you want from us?" Luna asked, eying the creature suspiciously.

"I need you, to be a part of the pokemon league, it's a simple task, you get strong pokemon, you battle trainer ponies, win like 5 times, and lose once. The end." Darkrai said, making it short and sweet.

"So, Celestia, do you accept, that we do this, and make your world like ours, so it is easier for things to get better?" Arceus asked, as he turned back to Celestia.

"Fine, but how would one capture pokemon?" Celestia asked, a little unsure of this creature, coming in and trying to mess up Equestria.

"Using this. It's simple, you will figure it out. I will be your first pokemon, use this, and throw it." Arceus said, presenting a red and white ball of a sorts. Celestia threw it, and a red flash appeared, and sucked Arceus in. It shook for a moment, then was still.

"Go! Arceus!" She cried, as it was the only thing that she saw fit to say. The red light appeared again, and Arceus came out.

"See, you already have it. I knew you were smart when I learned you were ruler of this place." Arceus said, glad that this pony wasn't so clueless after all.

"Ah, so do I now say, to make you return, Arceus! Return! Is that how it works?" Asked Celestia, as she levitated the Pokeball, so that she could examine it a little closer.

"Yes, that is normally how it works. There is a purple ball, like this one," He said, pulling out a Masterball. "It catches pokemon without failing, the pokeball you used only worked because I didn't resist, normally, unless you had battled me a lot with another pokemon, thus lowering my health and making me easier to catch." Arceus explained as Celestia nodded. "There are also Ultra balls, Great balls, Premier balls, and many others." He said, pulling out a few more kinds.

"Ah, so each of them has a better chance, and the Pokeball is the one that will catch, but has the least chance. Am I right?" Celestia asked, as she leaned over to look at each one.

"Yes, you are correct, very good." Arceus said, now more confident things would feel more normal.

A wild Pokemon attacked!

Twilight Sparkle sat on her bed, engrossed in her book, when she heard some sort of chirp, that sounded as if it were saying 'Natu'. Twilight bookmarked the book, and trotted over to the window. Some kind of green bird with a red feather atop it's head perched on the window sill, and called out "Natu!" It had yellow, black, and red wings, and a red tail. It was oddly spherical, and Twilight thought it was somewhat cute.
"Aww, Hi little guy!" Twilight cooed, looking at the cute little bird.
"Natu!" It squawked.
Twilight held out a hoof cautiously, and it hopped onto her hoof, somehow grinning. "That isn't even possible for a bird!" Twilight examined the little bird, it became alarmed, and backed up.
"Natu!" It squawked in some sort of protesting manner.
"Oh! I'm sorry." Twilight said, gently placing the creature of the nearby desk.
"Natu Natu!" It said.
"Should I call you Natu?" Twilight asked.
"Natuuu!" It said, happily.
"Okay!" Twilight said, smiling.
She went over to a bookshelf, looking for a book about birds. She pulled one out, flipped through the pages, not a single bird in there looked like it. "Hmm." She said tapping her chin. "Oh! I've found a new species!" She cried, excited.
"Natu?" It said.
Twilight pulled out a quill, and wrote down what she had found, she sent it to Celestia, via magic, since Spike was away. Celestia wrote back a moment later, explaining, and there was a red and white ball, that she were to catch it with, and say Go! Natu! to take it out of it. She caught it, and let it out, she thought it may be cramped in there.
"Natuuu." It said, now seeming to like her a lot more.

Meanwhile, Fluttershy was outside, feeding her animals. she gave Angel bunny a little carrot, and for once he ate it, a bit reluctantly but he did. She went over to the other, and fed them the appropriate food. Once she was done, she stopped to admire all the cute little animals. A little pink animal shyly peeked out of the Everfree forest, some kind of green at the top of it's head. Fluttershy slowly came closer. "You can come out, little guy, it's okay, I won't hurt you." Fluttershy whispered softly to the strange creature. It cautiously came closer, and said something sounding like "Hoppip." "What's that, little guy?" Fluttershy said, surprised. "Is that your name?" Fluttershy asked. It shook itself, as if to say yes. "Oh, it's okay, Hoppip, come here, don't be shy." Fluttershy said softly. Hoppip slowly came over to her, the gentle breeze lifting it up, and pushing it gently to Fluttershy. It said 'Hoppip' once more, and drifted closer. Soon, it was directly in front of Fluttershy.

"Aww, you're soooo cute!" Fluttershy exclaimed. It let out a happy squeak.

"Hoppip!" It said, and twirled around.

~Meanwhile, back at the castle~

"All of this just to conjure up a cake?" Luna asked, squinting and cautiously looking at Celestia.

"Well, yeah. I'm not sure how cake was mispronounced as portal to a dimension full of weird... things." Celestia said.

"Well, then thou mustn't have screwed up on the cake part." Luna said, rolling her eyes.

"You're right, but I don't think there was a part of this spell that could really get us into such a big pile of--" Celestia was cut off by Luna shoving a hoof in her mouth.

"Not in front of the children, Tia." Luna scolded.

"Oh, right." She said.

"Well, there's gotta be some way to get rid of it, but we have something else to discuss first." Luna said.

"Is it how that Arceus guy gave me such a strict set of rules to follow?" Celestia asked, thinking back to her conversation with the legendary Pokemon.

"Precisely. It sort of bothered me. Especially when he said that some ponies will become corrupted due to the sheer power of these "Pokemon" that are now inhabiting Equestria." Luna responded, sighing.

"It does seem strange, I'll need to talk to him about it." Celestia said. She walked out onto the balcony, when suddenly she heard a huge bang and shrieks of terror.

Your Rival, Trixie Lulamoon

Arceus sat down staring out at the starry night sky. He let out a chuckle. "Foolish ponies. Dumb enough to comply easily and quickly. That should make it that much easier to fall under MY control." He said. He grinned wildly as he watched a Voltorb explode somewhere off in the distance.

Twilight was trotting down to the Castle of the Two Sisters, in search of more information on this. There had to be something somewhere. She crossed the bridge, Spike riding along on her back, with Natu perched atop his head.

"Twilight Sparkle! There you are!" A voice suddenly cried out.

Twilight whipped around in confusion, spinning so fast that her tail went forward to hit her in the face. "Trixie?" She said with a gasp.

"The Great and Powerful Trixie." She corrected.

Twilight merely rolled her eyes. "So, what is it? Here to drive me out of Ponyville once again?" Twilight said, obviously impatient.

"No, Sparkle. I challenge you to a pokemon battle!" Trixie cried. (ahem, The Great and Powerful Trixie, excuse me)

"A... What?" Twilight said, squinting at her confusedly.

"You are so dumb, Twilight Sparkle. A Pokemon! You know, like the thing on top of Spike's head!" Trixie said, pointing to the Natu on Spike's head.

"Oh. So that's what these adorable little things are called!" Twilight said. "But how would you battle with them?" She said.

"Honestly, Twilight? Just let him do the work." Trixie sighed.

"Oh. Go ahead, Natu." Twilight mumbled.

Trixie sent out a small gray cat-like Pokemon with folded ears. It had wide pink eyes with blue pupils. "Espurr!" It cried.

Twilight's Natu charged at the Pokemon with a pecking attack. It jabbed the Espurr with it's beak several times. The Espurr unfolded it's ears and blasted the Natu with a small beam of energy. It sent it flying backwards and into a tree. The Natu was confused for a moment, but then got up and ran back. It pecked the Espurr again. The Espurr tackled it this time, which did little. The Natu gathered all of its strength and pecked with extreme ferocity. The Espurr mustered one last tackle, and collapsed a moment after.

"H-how dare you!" Trixie shouted, enraged. "You were supposed to lose!"

"You can't always win, Trixie." Twilight said simply.

"I might lose now but I'm going to become the BEST Pokemon trainer!" She yelled. "Just you wait!" With that, she galloped off.

Twilight shook her head and started home.
