Hello people, this is Rakni with a writer update for Of Dragons and Mortals.
Hope you people didn't think I was dead or anything! Though I'd forgive you for thinking that, given the lack of updates and stuff.
My excuse? Family drama, personal stuff, a brief stint in the hospital, just... lots of stuff at once. It's been a busy and emotional couple of months.

Wow, I've been quiet for a while, haven't I? Problem is, I have had a lot of RL stuff to deal with, and I've struggled with motivation to write and all sorts of things. I haven't said anything because there isn't much to say.
Until now.
So why am I suddenly doing a blog post? What's changed? And will I just shut up and tell you what you want to hear?
Against all odds, me and my editors managed to get the new chapter out. My IRL troubles haven't gone away or sorted themselves out yet, but sometimes you just want to write. I have a small announcement to make here, but if you'd prefer to get to reading, the information will be provided for you in the author's notes. It's nothing scary.

Unfortunately the news are not so good: I'm struggling with some pretty big RL issues at the moment and I can't find much time to write. Combine that with a case of writer's block, and I don't know when the next update is coming.
I am not about to stop writing, though. I have a lot of the next chapter (or, well, the first draft) written down and, if we're lucky, I'll find time to finish it sometime soon and send it out to my editors.

By the by, I know a few authors put out small snippets of upcoming chapters in blog posts. Teasers and the like. Is that something you readers would like to see, or would you prefer to remain unspoilered until the chapter is properly finished?

Okay, so I have good news and bad news.
The bad news is that, as part of my education, I need to spend the next several weeks getting on-the-job experience. As luck of the draw would have it, I have to travel a looong way to get to my allotted place. Which means that, in between traveling and actually working, my weekdays more or less disappear, and I'll probably only be able to write on weekends for some time.

I've been quiet for longer than I am comfortable with, so here's an update, for what it's worth:
Progress on the next chapter is going steady. Slow, but steady. I am in the middle of yet another exam, and my writing time has been very limited.

Okay, I have good news and not-so-good news. Good news is that chapter 9 is all written down and has been sent off to the editors.
Less good is that my editors have come down with a case of Real Life with a side of Packed Schedule, so things have kinda stonewalled. Hopefully we can get the ball rolling soon, but we'll have to see how our schedules pan out.

First of all, I apologize for being so quiet lately. I know how frustrating it can get when an author goes dark. My excuse, well... I said that school was kicking my ass and I meant it. However, one big exam is over now and I actually have time to do some writing now, so that's what I'm doing.
I should have something for my editors relatively soon, so don't lose hope, guys. I'm still writing.

The draft of chapter 8 is officially done and undergoing editing. I cannot give you a deadline, but progress is being made!

This is Rakni here, with an update on ODaM.
After the monster chapter and editing nightmare that was chapter 7, I decided to take a few days off writing to focus on my studies. I am back to writing now, and while progress is relatively slow, there is definitely progress. If I hold true to my assertion to make chapters of 3000-ish word, then you can say I'm about halfway done. No idea how long it'll take, or if I end up doing a longer chapter, but there it is.
Time for another update, to reassure you gentle readers that I am not dead, but still working.
Today's news: Chapter 7 has been little more then halfway edited, and progress is going forwards. I still can't give you a deadline, but it's progress. I am writing on chapter 8 in the meantime.
Thank you for your continued patience. I can only hope it will be worth it.
