I'm not dead, nor is the story. Chapter Eight was hopefully going to come out in June but it turns out an intensive Arabic program is actually pretty damn intensive so the story hasn't really been worked on the month of June. I'm gonna do some work on it tonight and probably during the weekend to finish cleaning up the initial first half of the chapter.

Long story short: Arabic is hard, expect the next chapter is July. Saddle Arabia is more Mocoraccan-Arabic than Turkish.

Ten-thousand words, holllllly crap. This one got wordy.

I'm definitely going to be trimming this down a bit, or at least cleaning it up substantially. The extra edition for this one comes from the greater description needed for a few scenes and the additional perspective of Twilight. There's a lot of little bits of world-building too that are dropped every so often throughout the whole chapter which is rather nice.

Howdy there folks,

Currently, I'm knocking back a few bottles of Red Stripe a day and mixing that with trips to the beach. It's a far cry from the cramped, alcohol-free barracks where I've been stuck last couple months. Chapter Seven is still progressing well I think. As far as pacing goes this is one of the faster ones, it covers about a week of time in the story. This is mostly due to the fact that travel is...kind of boring.

Just an update, currently the rough draft of the chapter 2/3rds of the way through is clocking in at over 5,000 words. Nothing too special but the POV we get this chapter are going to be: Treptow, Sardonyx, DuPont, Twilight. Each one is going to have just about 2,500 words but they'll express some passage of time so that the story isn't just them all sitting on boats for another 10 chapters. By the end of the chapter, they're going to be in Canterlot.
