I had an insect poem:
A terza rima ode in iambic pentameter called "The Protest: Ant Work Ethic", published back in September in vol. 3 of the Civilized Beasts anthology. Which is fun enough.
There must be:
A real shortage of light verse out there in the world. 'Cause I just picked up another $9.41 "honorable mention" over at Poetry Nook for a piece that I will reprint here in its entirety:
The Stars, Like Penguins
The stars,
Like penguins in the daylight,
Waddle gassy, spotted, unwieldy.
Over at Poetry Nook:
I picked up an "honorable mention" during their 111th weekly contest, the one that ran the week before Christmas, with a seasonal piece called "Not a Creature is Stirring." Because even mice have to celebrate sometime, right?

I haven't:
Updated the poetry collection here in almost a year, but I'm still writing poetry! In fact, I just won the 106th Weekly Poetry Contest at the website Poetry Nook with an odd little pantoum about trying not to have an out-of-body experience. I'll have more Pony poetry to go up here, I'm hoping, before the year's out, too!
In an insect mood a couple weeks ago:
I wrote a sonnet called "The Butterfly Effect" and submitted it to the website Adjective Species for their 2nd annual poetry collection. And it got chosen for inclusion!

It occurred to me:
That the middle of November is usually when the annual volume of the Sword and Sorceress anthology appears. I haven't gotten my contributor copy yet, but volume 29 is indeed now available for those who have perhaps been following my stories about Cluny, the Sorceress Squirrel.
First:
The most recent poem I've just added to "Ponyville & Other Poems" has pushed it just over the 10,000 word mark. And second, DuncanR has just posted a new story titled "Nothing to Say." I'm only halfway through the first chapter, and I'm already putting up this recommendation. Read all his other stuff, too, while you're at it.
