Sometimes life gets out of control, and for me that is an accurate statement. My life has been changing a lot in the last few weeks and I simply didn't have time to write. On top of this, the last chapter got too beefy to where it needed to be split up into two chapters, so that's what's happening.
Shadows has been going on for almost two years. It’s dear to my heart, and it’s gone on with a new chapter every week without fail for nearly two years.
However, while I’m at BronyCon this weekend I just don’t have to time to release a chapter. So for the first time ever, Shadows is taking a two week pause so Sunset Shimmer can recharge her batteries a little while I rave with some of the most fun people ever.
Shadows will return in two weeks when I get back.
You all know her as Applety, the person who makes the art for Shadows Cast Over the Sunset, but she's actually so much more. She's also a big contributor to the story and she is the most important person in my world. She's a loving, sweet person who has gone through hard times and is finally coming out on top. She's passionate about art, and you can always see it in her face when she's working on something. She's hard on herself, but she's very talented:
So, we've known for months now thanks to the leaks that Friendship is Magic is ending after the 9th season. Many people were in denial of this, but the recent announcement from Hasbro has indeed confirmed it. Season 9 will be the final season and a theatrical film will follow sometime in 2021. We also know from the leaks that another holiday special is planned around later 2019 or 2020. I’ve been super busy these past few days, or even weeks. As I get closer to finishing the actual writing for Act V, I will within a few days be typing the first words of Act VI. What this means is we will be entering Act VII relatively soon (in a few months).
I’m estimating some time I’m the Summer we will be entering the final act of Shadows.
This is big.
Crazy to think that this Friday Act IV will officially be over! As per usual, there will be intermissions between IV and V which have already been written and are ready to go. Also the first chapter of Act V is complete as well, it's going to be a pretty big change of pace. Expect Act V to be very different.
We're getting closer and closer to some of the "payoffs" for shit that's happening.
I think when this story is done, I'll have to bake a cake or something.
And with that, the last chapter of Act IV is written! At the time of writing this blog, Act IV has 2 chapters remaining. I wouldn't say it's a "big" finale, but it is the start of something so much bigger. Act V is going to... Very different, it's going to focus a lot on two major stories and flipping back and forth between them.
What is happening in Act V? All I can say is... We are going to start seeing what's going on in Equestria now while Sunset is in the human world. A little preview:

It's hard to imagine I've been posting a chapter a week every week without fail for a year, and Applety has been doing drawings for the story every week without fail too. So as a form of celebration, this blog is going to sort of do a bit of behind the scenes stuff and reveal tons of new info.

Hey, all you Shadowversians following this obnoxiously long story! Good to see you all again! We had a nice little 2-week break with the intermissions, both of which I'm sure added more confusion. Prepare to be confused more! So, I'm sure you all are wondering when Act IV begins? Well, tomorrow! Yup, no more intermissions, Act IV begins tomorrow. Hey! I finally got my new machine, working on all Apple products now, meaning I am now switching from Word 2007 to Apple Pages. So far it's been a smooth transition, so that is nice. With this new rig I can focus on getting more done, and one of the things I decided to start this week doing is finally compiling eBooks for the story.
Wow! Hard to believe I've been working on Shadows Cast Over the Sunset for this long, but wow I just finished writing for Chapter XXXVII and it so far is the longest chapter yet. So long that I had to actually break a scene off and move it to Chapter XXXVIII, but it should be worth the payoff. The story has been going on for so long now that it's crazy to think we've come this far and I'm already at the point where I'm thinking about Act IV eventually. Thanks so much to everyone who has supported me and Shadows Cast Over the Sunset. Some of you have been with the story since day one and that's amazing because we're over six months down the road and that's awesome. I'm actually super proud of myself for being able to keep up weekly releases this entire time. Super happy that I was able to do that, and glad that I am going to continue doing that.

So if you're reading this it's because you have finished the new chapter of Shadows, if not then don't read what's in the spoiler text because it's spoilers, obviously. I thought I'd take a moment to celebrate a few milestones for the story:
Some may have noticed the story now has a new cover and a new logo. The official ShadowsVerse logo now will appear on any story set in the same universe, which spoiler: pretty much every story I write from now on will take place in the same universe more than likely. This decision was more or less to do a lot of practice with world building and building in the confines of an established world. This means the ShadowsVerse will get a lot bigger.
A small milestone, but tonight Chapter XX (20) hits of Shadows Cast Over the Sunset. For 21 weeks or almost 6 months we've been delivering on the promise of a chapter a week. We're almost halfway through our first year with Shadows. It's pretty cool to think how far we've come and what lies ahead. I definitely have a lot planned, a lot more written and of course, Applety has a lot of art planned.
