Anyone who want's to take part can post their potential characters up here. Try not to make things too overpowered, but do keep in mind that the nasties that arrived on Equestria were meaner than most other things on the planet, and considering there were dragons before hand...
Well, you get the general picture.
For the record, Celestia, Luna and Discord are all out of bounds.
Anyway, use this basic format:

Main Characters: (At least one of these must be a canon character from the show. Don't go overboard with sheer numbers though)
Universe that they disappeared to: (These can be OC, or they can be a crossover, but let's not have absoloutly everyone going to the same universe, or that place is going to get pretty crowded.)
Preferred point of return: (Where they re-emerge)
Preferred time of return: (Time before the present day)
Writing example: (Your characters being taken or being returned – Roughly 500 to 1000 words)

The writing example is subject to change once we have everyone in the group so we can standardise things a bit, this is just a rough draft mostly.

Main Characters:
Blueblood: Canon. First Prince of Equestria, and is next in line to the throne if Celestia and Luna are unable to lead, in front of Twilight Sparkle and Cadence. Is forty one when the magical storms first hit. Commander and Spotter of the AT-TE The Good Prince. Gets given the nickname ‘Silver’, short for Silver Tongue, due to his diplomatic ability.

Splinter Shield: A male unicorn who served as Bluebloods personal guard for seven years, before the storms. Is thirty five when the storms hit. Now acts as The Good Prince’s pilot. Earns the nickname ‘Splint', partly due to his name, and partly due to the fact that he has the most medical knowledge of the crew, especially when it comes to broken bones.

Radial Stone: A male unicorn who served as Bluebloods personal guard for three years, before the storms. Is Twenty nine when the storms hit. Now acts as one of The Good Prince’s four secondary gunners. Earns the nickname ‘Sharp’, due to both his horn (which is sharp rather than rounded), as well as his marksmanship ability.

CT-22-2222 ‘Duo’: Named due to his classification code. Is generally quiet and collected, but does not seem overly withdrawn. His marksmanship abilities are top notch however, as is evidenced by the fact he has command of The Good Prince's main cannon.

CT-46-7583 ‘Nightstick': Named due to his tendency to be on the receiving end of blows from this weapon, Nightstick is loud, brash and boardering on insubordinate at times. He does however know just where the line is however, and so far has not stepped over it. Serves as one of The Good Prince’s four secondary gunners.

CT-19-8592 'Mech': The most mechanically minded member of the crew, Mech keeps The Good Prince running through thick and thin, and ensures that it is never wanting for love and devotion, even if he is slightly overprotective of 'his baby'. Serves as one of The Good Prince’s four secondary gunners, as well as their field mechanic.

CT-01-0274 'Wise Guy': The earliest produced clone to serve in The Good Prince, Wise Guy has fought in the GAR since the first battle of Geonosis, and has easily seen more action than the rest of the crew put together. This makes him the unofficial crew hero, and was seen as good luck by other AT-TE's that walked alongside the tank he rode in. Serves as one of The Good Prince’s four secondary gunners.

The Good Prince: An second generation AT-TE, the tank has been fitted with limited command features to allow it to command the column of similar vehicles it lead while serving in the GAR. Before it returned to Equestria, it was stocked with extra fuel and energy cells, allowing for extended deployment without resupply.

Universe that they disappeared to: Star Wars – During the Clone Wars

Preferred point of return: A small town on the outskirts of the Great Wasteland, a place formerly known as Canterlot.

Preferred time of return: Two years before the present day

Writing example: (So maybe I got carried away and did both. Oops. :twilightblush:)

Blueblood let out a soft growl of frustration as he poured over the map in the war-room of Canterlot Castle. The map was a marvel of magical engineering, its surface changing to perfectly reflect the current state of Equestria, showing everything from border changes to new buildings as they were built. Now however it only further engrained how dire the situation across the planet really was.

The magical storms that had started earlier that year were still growing, covering more and more of Equestria, claiming more lives and depositing strange and terrifying creatures with every meter that they advanced. They had tried everything to stop the storms, the best minds in every field devoting their every waking hour to devising a solution, but nothing worked, the storms simply pushing onwards, leaving a trail of destruction and death behind them.

Blueblood growled again, this time barely managing to stifle a yawn as he turned back to face the other guards in the room with him. Blueblood was no stranger to combat, having served with the guard along the border for five years before returning to Equestria, and even then he had managed to get some rest, but the storms did not relent, the heavy bags under his eyes tantamount to that fact.

“Report,” his voice was horse as he spoke the single word, looking between the various guards in the room, his eyes lingering on his two personal guards, Splinter Shield and Radial Stone.

“We have lost contact with the guard stationed at Hoofington,” Radial began, taking a step forward. “All of our unicorn-to-unicorn communication is useless due to the interference from the storm, and unidentified flying creatures mean getting a message through via Pegasus will likely just result in more death.”

“I want eyes on this storm front, categorise these new creatures and add them to the scrolls,” Blueblood ordered, rubbing his temple. “Tell the ponies who are sent not to attempt to get too close, but stress the importance of the mission.”

“Yes sir,” Radial nodded, looking at one of the guards in the room and gesturing for him to carry out the orders given, before turning back to Blueblood. “There is a small bit of good news sir.”

“Well go on, no matter how small it will make a goddess damned change,” Blueblood sighed.

“The Minotaur ambassador and his guards have managed to make it to our borders and link up with some of our guard units returning to Canterlot,” Splinter Shield took over.

“They made it through the storms in one piece?” Blueblood asked, genuinely surprised. “ETA?”

“Two days sir,” Splinter Shield continued. “I could send out a team of chariot beare….”

Splinter Shield was cut off as the door was flung open, a Pegasus in battered golden armour standing in the doorway, panting heavily as he limped forward.

“What is the meaning of this intrusion?” Blueblood asked, trying to regain some of his normal air of authority, before his shoulders sagged and he relented. “A new report I presume?”

“Y-Yes sir,” the Pegasus nodded shakily.

“Well? Spit it out then,” Blueblood approached the Pegasus. “Whatever news you bear I am sure that we have heard worse.”

“The north wing of the castle has collapsed,” the guard’s voice was almost a whisper as he spoke the next bit. “P-Princess Celestia was in the wing. She, she is believed to be KIA.”

The room was silent as the news struck home, each member of the room exchanging disbelieving looks. Finally, Blueblood broke the silence.

“You are sure of this?” he murmured.

“I watched the wing collapse sir, and I helped pull out a few bodies before being sent here,” the Pegasus replied solemnly.

Blueblood nodded slowly, turning back to the map as a few tears rolled down his cheek. “I’m sorry auntie,” he whispered to himself, before placing both hooves on the table. He let the silence hang for a few seconds longer, before he spoke again, his voice heavy, as if the weight of the world rested on his shoulders. In many ways it now did.

“I am initiating Starfall Protocol. Everypony who is not Radial Stone or Splinter Shield, leave now. You know what this contingency entails. Carry it out.”

“Sir, you can’t be serious,” Splinter Shield sounded incredulous as he stepped forward.

“I am corporal,” Blueblood replied, not looking round.

“Blueblood!” Splinter cried. “You don’t even know that she’s…”

“Don’t say that word about my aunt,” Blueblood snarled, turning round to face his guard and pulling himself up to his full height, seeming towering above the unicorn, even though there was very little height difference between them. “And no, I don’t know for certain, but I cannot take that chance. If auntie really is…is gone, then we have less than an hour before the sun, her sun, is extinguished. I will not allow that to happen.”

“But to give control back to unicorns after so long?” Radial cut in. “Princess Luna may still return.”

“May, may, may,” Blueblood shook his head. “There are too many hopeful wishes, and while nice, a country cannot be run on them. I am next in line to the throne after my aunts, and I will not allow all their work to be in vain. Equestria will not fall on my watch, I can guarantee you that.”

Radial Stone and Splinter Shield exchanged nervous glances as Blueblood turned back to the table. They had both seem Blueblood in fits of rage and grief before, but those were usually over someone spilling tea on his suit or some such trivial slight, but this was completely different. It was measured and calculating, each word being carefully considered before being given life. It was at times like this Blueblood showed why he stayed in power for so long, his diplomatic mind staying keen, even when all seemed lost.

“Sir… My Prince. I’m sorry,” Splinter Shield walked up beside Blueblood.

“Blueblood,” Blueblood shook his head. “The pair of you have known me long enough to call me by my real name, especially in times like this. Speak freely, the pair of you.”

“I…” Splinter began, but he never managed to finish his sentence.

The room was suddenly shaken by an unseen force, tossing all three ponies to the floor as the roof collapsed in small places, sending flakes of plaster and rock down upon their heads as the white lightening of the magical storms wracked the room. By the time the structure had finally settled, there was no sign of the room, the guards, or Prince Blueblood.

(Return)

A pony screamed as yet more of the hideous creatures smashed their way through the hastily repaired barricade that surrounded their town, tearing apart buildings and ponies alike as it charged on, heedless of the spears and arrows sticking out of it. Even some of the new weapons the town had were useless, the tiny steel balls bouncing off the creatures hides, failing to even slow them down.

Ponies ran in terror from the attackers, fleeing for their lives rather than facing down the foe. Most knew that it would be a pointless task, and that their fate would be the same if they ran or fought, but that didn’t stop almost everypony from trying.

“No. No!” A pony screamed in terror as she tripped over, landing heavily and trying to scrabble back to her hooves, before turning to see the lead creature already bounding towards her. Her voice rose to an ear pitching scream as the beast roared in return, jumping high in the air to pounce down upon her.

Then, it was gone. In its place was simply a fine mist and a searing red beam, surrounded by an unfortunately familiar hail of magical lightening, both of which faded almost as soon as they had arrived. A nanosecond later a loud crack rent the air, and the pony who had fallen could feel her fur stand on end, as if she had rubbed herself along a balloon. A few more seconds past before another beam shone across the town, striking and destroying yet more creatures. Some creatures still managed to sneak through whatever the barrage was, only to be cut down where they stood by a flurry of smaller beams.

It didn’t take long before the town-turned-battlefield was silent once again, the acrid smell of burnt flesh and ionised fur wafting across the land. Shakily, the fallen pony got back to her hooves, turning around to look at their saviour, expecting to see a cadre of the local Warlords unicorns.

Instead, a huge metal beast stood stock still in the middle of the town. Six legs held up a huge metal body. Slowly, the legs began to move, a tiny hiss punctuating the movement as the main body of the beetle like machine was lowered to the ground, finally touching down.

By now most of the remaining townsponies had gathered around, those holding weapons forming a cordon around it. Years of living under the threat of beast attacks and paying ‘protection bits’ to the local warlord and his ponies had left most unwary of help from outsiders, even if they had just saved them.

The machine was still for a long time, allowing the ponies to take it in, most of their eyes being drawn to the strange beam-throwing weapon on the very top, the words The Good Prince painted in white paint along the side of it, before their eyes were drawn to the sound of an opening hatch. Weapons were readied by those who still had them as the hatch finally opened, the unmistakable shape of a unicorns horn emerging from within, followed swiftly by a dirty and sweaty blonde mane, and finally an equally grime streaked white body as the unicorn looked down on them.

“Ponies of Equestria,” Blueblood called down, a smile spreading across his face as a tear rolled down his cheek. “The Good Prince has arrived.”

Final edit. All the characters are done, they are all linked through the storms and eventually meet up, though I've not introduced the returned versions in the examplars. Dates are all Equestrian for the time Post Nightmare Moon, so most of the ponies are late twenties to mid-thirties, the dragons and their 'pets' are much older. J'kreth and C'ret being around 80-100, Jac and Civa being about 140. The strangeness with the names is actually due to the program I'm using, it uses the 'usual name' to title characters over their other names, hence giving them 'full names' which includes titles.

Universe that they disappeared to: Witcher (Spitfire & Nightshade), Original: Dforgrym (Everyone else (Spitfire and Nightshade join them there later))

Preferred point of return: Cloudsdale, near Whitetail Woods and Ponyville

Preferred time of return: Present day (1012PNM)

Main Characters:

Spitfire

Her full name is Captain Spitfire.

She was born Wed 24 Feb 0975PNM

Spitfire is, or rather was, the captain of the Wonderbolts, she is a pegasus pony with yellow/orange fur, amber eyes and a mane and tail that fade from yellow in the middle to orange on the outside. She is considered one of the youngest captains of the Wonderbolts in the past few centuries and one of the few that actually encouraged the team to work with their counterparts, the Shadowbolts. Part of the reason for that is because she and the Shadowbolts’ captain are friends.

While on deployment to Manehatten with the Shadowbolts, she and Nightshade were caught in a sudden second storm and hurled to another universe where they woke up human. After having encounters with the world’s native ‘wild life’, she chose to become a Witcher in order to protect people. When they came to the Trial of the Grasses, the third and final trial, she was exposed to a new combination of potions which caused her to revert half way to her pegasus form, leaving her an anthropomorphic pegasus, something that spooked the hell out of the Witchers around at the time, and they were also dealing with Geralt’s reaction to the new combination.

Years later, after travelling the world with Geralt and Nightshade, the two pegasi found a warp point they thought might take them home. It didn’t, instead it dropped them on another world, where bipedal dragons ruled. The pair, after being helped by a pair of dragons, chose to join the group, being placed with the pair that helped them until all ten of them, including the four other ponies that ended up joining them over the years, were shifted back to Equestria.

Spitfire prefers either blade and shield or close-to-mid range rifle/SMG, but can dual wield if needs must. Her special talent involves speed and flames, but between the mutagens, drugs and dragon blood in her system she’s gained better flame control along with some weather and shape shift between four forms (basic pony, basic human, anthro pony and Ailiaar dragon).

Nightshade

Her full name is Captain Nightshade.

She was born Mon 13 May 0978PNM

Captain of the Shadowbolts during the storms, Nightshade is a light blue-grey pegasus with a darker blue mane and golden eyes. She joined the Shadowbolts when she was forced to leave the Wonderbolts due to her actions, much to her friend Spitfire’s annoyance. Even with the split, which was later found to be somepony else drugging Nightshade with a concoction that had a similar, if much worse, effect than alcohol, she maintained her friendship with Spitfire, causing the two rival teams to become more friendly with one another.

She was on deployment in Manehatten with the Wonderbolts when things went wrong. After fighting off one storm, a second blew up unexpectedly and vapourised the command tent both ’bolts were using. The magic transported her and Spitfire to another world where they were human and rescued by a group of Witchers. After several close encounters with the sort of beings they fought, she joined up with Spitfire and was the third to have a new combination of drugs used on her, resulting in a transformation into an anthropomorphic form of her natural one.

After several years of strife, she, Spitfire and Geralt found a portal leading elsewhere. Unfortunately, when they passed through it, they found that it wasn’t home that they reached, but another world, with another group of warriors fighting to keep the monsters away from those unable to fight themselves.

Joining the group, she and Spitfire met up with several ponies that they had last seen years before during the storms in Manehatten, also searching for a way home.

Similar to Spitfire she’s Witcher trained, but prefers two-handed weaponry. While her talents lay in darkness, she can now manipulate shadows a lot better, even using them as weapons rather than escape along with weather and shape shift.

J’kreth

Her full name is Corporal J'kreth-V'ren Cal'drith ('J'kreth').

She was born Wed 12 Apr 0915PNM

The granddaughter of Ghrathryn Cal’drith and V’rentryth Or’nae, J’kreth is a franthryn dragon distantly in line to the throne of two countries in her parents and grandparents’ home lands on the planet Harrenthias. She is not ignorant of the fact there are more universes out there than just her own, in fact she has been to one.

As a youngling, around five, she ended up being cast through a dimensional portal into the universe the holds the world of Pern roughly three thousand to thirty-five hundred years after the planet was colonised. Whilst there, searching for a way back, she was taken under the guardianship of the then weyrleader and his life mate, and gained C’ret, the drathryn whose egg was sent through with her.

J’kreth is now an adult and back in her home universe with her pet. She stands around nine feet tall, with blue and gold scales, some of which have traceries of red on them while her eyes are a clear green.

Having gone through the training to enter the Dforgrym, following her grandparents’ path, she has specialised in a very athletic combat style that makes use of powered claws mounted in special bracers, each of which has a high calibre gun on the back. For the past several years she has served as Jacinth’s corporal in the ‘pony squad’ as it is jokingly known, though only the youngest believe that the ponies are less capable than their draconic counterparts.

Jac

Her full name is Knight-Herald (Master Sergeant) Jacinth G’re-Rhyl'naarii ('Jac').

She was born Fri 10 Jun 0875PNM

Having lived in Valdemar for several decades when she was young, Jacinth knows her way around the rule of law and diplomacy, unlike most of the others in her squad. Also unlike most of the others, she is a dragon, a four-winged ‘noble’ rhyl’saar dragon, marked not just by the extra pair of wings, but also by her pure black scales and pure white mane.

She made several friends while in Valdemar and spent much of her time riding circuit, looking for blood mages or their ilk, as she had a sixth sense for them. That sense has helped her avoid or find trouble several times over the course of her life. In fact it was that sense that managed to save her life and resulted in her trip to Velgarth in the first place as her fighter squad was attacked.

After returning to the Dforgrym, she was the one that encountered the ponies first in each of the three cases where they appeared in their dimension. Her experience dealing with intelligent equines, thanks to the Herald/Companion bond she shares with Civa, has been invaluable with helping the six ponies adjust to the new dimension they found themselves in.

Jacinth is actually a summoner a fact she found out when trying to summon Valdemar’s local air elemental, the vrondi, in order to cast a truth spell in class, though she rarely uses the ability apart from spying or forcing truth from people since she doesn’t have any heavy combat summons. Her preferred fighting style is with a staff/spear/swallow (two-bladed sword), assault rifle or dual pistol (laser preferred).

Sparkler

Her full name is Sparkler.

She was born Sun 12 Aug 0983PNM

As the elder of the two pony daughters of the Doctor, Sparkler isn’t unaccustomed to encountering trouble of one sort or another, or even travelling from one place to another. In fact, the purple unicorn has seen things that most ponies would dismiss out of hoof as impossible.

For all her experience though, she had never seen something like the storms when they occurred. While trying to help in Manehatten, she, along with a long time friend of hers named Lemon Hearts, were transported to a universe ruled by humans in the midst of a war.

Unwilling to let her friend get hurt, she eventually joined the USIF to fight against the genetically modified Orions, leaning the hard way just how easy it was to kill at a distance and how scary it was to be launched at a planet from several miles straight above it.

After several years working as an orbital drop infantry, she and Lemon were on a skycrane that passed through a strange storm similar to the one that landed them there in the first place, though this one instead dropped them in another universe ruled by bipedal dragons where they found the other ponies and worked with them to keep others safe before finally returning home.

Lemon Hearts

Her full name is Lemon Hearts.

She was born Thu 28 Apr 0981PNM

This yellow unicorn has been a friend of Sparkler’s for years, mainly through the years at Celestia’s School for the Gifted. She knew Twilight while the pair were there, though at the time the then unicorn wasn’t interested in social interactions, and followed her friend back to Ponyville when things wound down.

Like Sparkler, Lemon Hearts was caught up in the storms in Manehatten and ended up with the flower girls, Roseluck and Lily Valley, trapped in the ‘bolts’ command tent for a while during one of the storms. When a second storm blew up unexpectedly, the ‘bolts’ captains asked that she and Sparkler, who did have militia training, help them in trying to deal with things on the ground, unfortunately that didn’t happen as they were torn away from the only world Lemon ever knew, changed into a creature not herself and dropped into the middle of a galactic war.

Lemon joined USIF primarily due to a near fatal encounter with the Arm that left her and several other civilians badly injured, eventually joining Sparkler on the front lines as an orbital drop trooper.

Rose

Her full name is Roseluck ('Rose').

She was born Fri 07 Nov 0979PNM

This earth pony was, and actually still is, easily spooked, however due to the fact Rose has seen things that would send most ponies screaming, she has learned though hard graft how to stand firm in the face of her fears.

When the storms struck the tent she was hiding in with her sister Lily in Manehatten, she was tossed through multiple dimensions before finally landing in one where bipedal dragons ruled. Changed from her usual self into a dragon bearing the same cream and red colour scheme, she had lived with the fear of death for years, seeing others in the same predicament facing it.

Thanks to the support of Jacinth and J’kreth, both of whom know well what it is like to be the odd one out, she has grown as a pony and joined them on several of their adventures, eventually reaching the point where the other ponies she remembers being in the tent joined them and several years later returning home to Equestria.

Lily Valley

Her full name is Lily Valley.

She was born Tue 20 May 0984PNM

Rose’s sister, Lily, is, at heart, a peaceful pony who would much rather be tending her garden than facing off against something that would make many faint from fear. Unfortunately for her, gardening, while still her passion, is something that can rarely be done while travelling between the stars.

While she has tried Jacinth and J’kreth’s patience at times, Lily has found herself growing more confident and capable in a brawl, particularly in the pink and green rhyl’saar body she ended up in when she was dumped in their laps quite literally. She has learned what it means to truly value life and often acts as the group’s medic.

Years after she arrived, she was surprised to find the other ponies from Manehatten joined them, drawn there through some form of shared bond created by the storm. While she is not as enthusiastic as her sister, she is glad that the last warp finally brought them all home, though she worries for their younger sibling, Daisy.

C’ret

Her full name is C'ret.

She was born Thu 13 Jul 0920PNM

A small dragon-like creature, C’ret is what is known as a drathryn, a common ‘pet’ for franthrae and a native to their home world.

C’ret herself is a blue and gold, colours gained from bonding with J’kreth out of the egg, and has followed her mistress on several adventures, including their time on Pern, where she was actually born in Bendan’s caverns. While not as large as Civa or the others, C’ret isn’t one to be left out and has more than enough blood lust to go up against much larger beasts, even though her species is generally seen sniffing out the primary threat to franthrae and even kranthrae dragons, the large, venomous hedachin.

Even now, she keeps a watch on her mistress, particularly at night, when most beings sleep.

Civa

Her full name is Civa.

She was born Wed 15 Jun 0875PNM

Civa is a Companion, more specifically she is Jacinth’s Companion. The pair have been together for most of their lives, living over a century. Like most of her kind, Civa is horse-like in shape, with a coat bleached white and eyes pure blue from constant exposure to magical energy. Compared to most of the others, however, she is a giant, standing around 8-9 feet at the withers.

While intelligent, due to her equine shape, Civa is unable to talk, instead relying on telepathy to get her message across. She’s usually the one to haul her Herald out of trouble, though she does complain that the only time Jac rides is when she’s too injured to fly or run. Most of the Companions have heard her muttering about her Chosen being able to out run a Companion in a foot race, but she does care about her and will watch her back no matter her personal cost.

Writing example:

Looking over the ruin that had been Manehatten, she sighed in resignation. The place actually looked worse than when Tirek and Discord had come through a year ago, the centaur devouring the magic of everypony he could catch. Unfortunately that had been practically all of them. Now though, they were being hammered, not by monsters, but by weather, something that they had thought they had under control. Even with every weather pony available in Manehatten, the Wonderbolts and the Shadowbolts, they hadn’t even made a dent in the storm that had just ripped through the place. It seemed all anyone could do was batten down the hatches and pray to the Royal Sisters that they would get through things.

“HalfthewesternsideoftheparkisgoneCaptain, onlythere’ssomethingelsethereinitsplace.” The blue pegasus rattled off her report so fast that most ponies would have to record it and play it back at half speed in order to get any sort of sense from it. She wasn’t most ponies though, she knew what her subordinate was like and Blueball did nothing slowly. “Stratusspoketosomeoftheponiesthere, theysaidtheywereinBanangoonemomentthenexttheywereinManehatten. Poniesdon’tjustmovefromonetowntoanotherwithoutanythinginbetween, evenIdon’tdothat.” Blueball continued her report.

Nightshade scowled. The last couple of months there had been storms all along the coast, but this was the first time they had managed to get something coherent from those that rode out the storm. Turning, she glared out at where the latest storm was retreating over the ocean outside Manehatten. They had been battering the entire country for the last few weeks, but there seemed no rhyme nor reason to them and they left most of the areas they passed over looking like Discord had been up to his old tricks, only ten times worse than the last time he had been free to do so.

“Thank you, Blueball, tell Stratus I’d like to talk to him when he gets back, would you?” She got a nod from the blue pegasus and sighed as Blueball zipped off.

Turning, she pulled her flight goggles off, revealing a pair of golden eyes as she made her way over to the tent set up just outside Manehatten on three legs, the last holding her goggles.

Making her way inside, she glanced around, seeing the two unicorns that had been trying to help busy comforting a pair of earth ponies. The pair was apparently known back in Ponyville for going off the rails, so she was content to let the unicorns handle them for now.

“Did Blueball give you anything useful?” A tired voice caused her head to turn to the last occupant of the tent, her opposite number on the Wonderbolts.

“Nothing more than we already knew, Spitfire,” She replied, finding a place to sit as her wings slumped. “Canterlot’s bucked still, the storms are some form of magic nopony has seen before and the unicorns there couldn’t do any more than the ones here. Pegasi can’t touch them either and earth and crystal ponies are basically stuck.” She rubbed an eye with her hoof, one ear flicking back as she heard one of the others approach. “Apparently half the Celestial Park is somewhere around Banango and part of its terrain is in its place, along with several ponies.”

“I don’t remember my geography lessons that well, but isn’t Banango pretty much the other side of the country?” A voice asked from behind her, causing her to turn to see the purple of the two unicorns standing nearby.

Spitfire nodded, even though she had an eyebrow arched in a manner that suggested she wanted more. “A pegasus can fly there in roughly fifteen to thirty hours, if they fly a straight line at full speed and weren’t Rainbow Dash.”

The unicorn’s eyes narrowed. “It sounds like the storms are capable of a massively overloaded version of the teleport spell some higher power unicorns have.”

“Massively overloaded is right, Sparkler,” the other unicorn sighed as she got up from where the two earth ponies were. “I studied the spell, I doubt even Twilight Sparkle could teleport across the country, and she’s an alicorn. Celestia and Luna might be able to, but I doubt they would, simply due to the amount of energy they’d need. It’s probably easier to raise the sun and moon than teleport that far sight unseen.”

“Exactly and…” Trailing off, Nightshade looked up as the storm siren went off again. “Can’t we get two minutes? Ugh… I’ll be so glad when those idiots in the guard get off their rumps and get down here.”

Spitfire sighed as the pair of them got to their hooves. “Even if most of them are only militia, it’ll still take a while to train them to be worth anything in this sort of situation.” She pointed out.

Sparkler sighed, sharing a look with her companion. “I’m militia trained and I don’t know what to do in this sort of situation apart from Dad’s preferred thing of run like bucking Tartarus.” She shut up as thunder cracked right over head. “Oh boy….”

“Well that’ll help.” Spitfire sighed, looking up at the roof of the tent. “If you and your friend can help the unicorn militia in trying to contain anything that gets loose, Nightshade and I will work on clearing this mess. If it lets us.”

The named trio nodded, before one of the earth ponies spoke up. “Wh-what about us?”

Nightshade turned to them. “Stay put and hope things don’t go as horribly wrong as when we had Tirek around.” She said grimly.

Running outside, the ponies barely had time to see another one of the strange storms had formed almost directly overhead before lightning lashed down, tearing their command tent to shreds. When the lightning faded, neither pony could be found. Most wrote them off as casualties of the storms, missing in action, for ten years.

*****

She barely noticed the disorientation effects of the long distance teleport as she slammed a silver blade through the chest of the creature in front of her, causing it to shriek in pain. Pulling the blade out, she spun around, using the steel sword in her left hand to take the misshapen thing’s head off its shoulders with a jet of black mucus that seemed to serve these things in place of blood.

The snap-crack of a las-shot followed by a high shriek sounded behind her as she looked around for more. After probably the best part of a decade fighting something, she was almost always on edge, even as she took in the screams of a crowd fleeing from them having seen an impromptu gladiatorial performance.

“That’s the last of them,” The voice behind her was comforting, even distorted as it was by what the other female was wearing. “But I don’t recognise where the nrr’gostyn pharsyn gated us to.”

Spinning her blades around to clean them off, she stepped back and looked around, frowning at the multi-coloured, winged bodies fleeing the scene and the fluted architecture. It felt like it should be familiar to her, but it had been that long it felt more like a dream. Why did it feel like she had been here before?

“Looks almost like some of the ‘classical’ Roman and Greek stuff you showed us, J’kreth.” One of her companions said, this one, like her, was a bipedal pegasus, wings large enough they could probably wrap around her body if necessary, though this pegasus’ grey-green coat and blue mane contrasted a lot with her own yellow and orange-yellow.

Looking around again, she frowned as she released her own helmet, taking it off with a sigh of relief. “At least we can breathe here, that’s the main thing. Though… I feel like I should recognise this place.”

“You know anywhere that uses solidified clouds as construction material?” The question made her look over at the last member of their party, the she dragon crouched, examining the substance they were standing on, white mane contrasting to black scales that shone in the sunlight. “’Cause Civa is apparently a few hundred feet below us, lookin’ up at a cloud bank and surrounded by corpses.”

Frowning, she racked her brain. “The only place I know of that would make sense is Equestria, but if we were there, you two shouldn’t be able to stand up here.” She paused as something clicked in her mind. There were four of them up here, there should have been eight that could take bipedal form. “Come to that, where are the rest of the squad? Civa would have said if they were here.”

The black dragon frowned and shrugged. “Well, between the mutagens and the amount of times we’ve shared blood over the years, I wouldn’t be surprised if we had gained that trick of yours, Spitfire.” She paused, her eyes gaining a distant look as she talked to her Companion below. “Though Civa is suggesting it might be something to do with the natural magic of this world that anything winged can cloud-walk. She also doesn’t know where the others are, they’re not with her, so she’s started sending the rally signal. Hopefully they’ll be able to use it to find us before anything else does.”

“If that’s the case and if this is Equestria, we should probably link up with Civa and find somewhere to hold up.” Her partner pointed out. “There was a lot of military build up when we were shifted to the world Geralt and Vesemir and the rest lived by those magic storms. Goddesses alone know what’s happened since then, but odds are it isn’t going to be good.”

Spitfire nodded, twitching her tail a little under her armour. “Nightshade’s got a point. We probably should get down to Civa, see if we can find the others, and find out what’s going on here before talking to anyone government.”

Both dragons nodded. :Civa, hold position, we’re joining you.: Jacinth’s mental voice echoed between Spitfire’s ears, making it plain that the other female was allowing them to listen in.

Crouching down, she spread her wings and leapt skywards, followed quickly by the rest before Jacinth took the lead position, leading them down to where Civa would be waiting. Here was hoping that Rose, Lily, Sparky and Lemon were okay, because there was no telling how long it would take for them to link up this time around.

:You know…: Nightshade’s mental voice echoed in her mind. :If you’re right and this is Equestria, we might finally be able to use our original forms. I mean, yeah, the hands are useful, it’s been too long since we were normal pegasi.:

Spitfire nodded, twitching her tail as they flew on. It would be a release to finally be able to return to her natural form after so long.

How would her team mates take her return? Come to that, how would anyone else take their return? Could any of the six of them deal with the ponies they had left behind here however long ago it was? Her eyes narrowed against the wind as she flew, wishing she had the answers to those questions.

Unfortunately, none of the four saw some of the braver ponies watching them leave.

4105977 Main Characters: Rainbow Dash. Canon. Element of Loyalty and one of the fastest fliers in Equestria. She's 22 when the storms hit. Now goes by the name Darth Spectra

Gilda. Canon. Former friend of Rainbow Dash turned lover. She's 26 when the storms hit. Trained by Mandalorian Hunters in art of the sharpshooting and sword fighting with a vibro-blade.

Universe that they disappeared to: Star Wars during the Galactic Cold War.

Preferred point of return: Ruined city formerly known as Las Pegasus

Preferred time of return: Present day.

Writing example: The city of dust bellowed in the wind as a sandstorm approached it from the horizon. The city, once full of life and ponies willing to gamble away their livelihood, was swarmed with vast numbers of multiple mutated and warped ponies. Most tried to live in isolation while others were nothing more than wild dogs trying to capture and eat whatever they can find. More often than not the diets included weaker mutants and even the occasional pony should one be foolish enough to appear. But what they never expected, however, was the moment when lightning struck the middle of the town’s square. The force of the blast sent several flying into nearby buildings and vaporized one that was unfortunate enough to stay where the lightning struck. Once the heat cooled down the mutants started to surround the crater where it struck. What was in the center was something that confused and angered them. A strangely dressed pegasus in black armor and a black cloak along with a breathing apparatus on it’s face and a heavily armored being at it’s side wearing metal that didn’t even seem to belong to the world they lived in.

“Heh. I didn’t realize this place went so far to the dogs. I think I can play fetch with one of these things.” The armored being said as it pulled a gun out and aimed at the closest mutant. Feeling threatened the beast growled at the aggressor and lunged which was it’s last act as a resounding ‘CRACK!’the gun went off and went through it like it was paper.

“No need to get riled up Gilda. Besides these things are a waste of our time” The pegasus said as it proceeded to spread it’s wings and fly. The other being activated a strange contraption on it’s back and fire issued from it as it flew after the pegasus.

“You still could’ve let me have SOME pot shots at them Rainbow.” Gilda said in an exasperated voice.

“I thought you were above such things Gilda? Are you ditching your honor?”

“Okay I might LOVE you but I won’t let that slide. UNCOOL Dash. I still got more honor than a battalion of Jedi.” Gilda retorted with a growl. Rainbow just smirked at her friend as she flew by her side.

“I figured as much. Just keeping you on your toes was all.” She said as she flapped her wings and took off. Gilda amped up the speed on her jetpack and tried catching up with her.

Main Character(s): Pinkie Pie (She's gonna be a b!tch to write but I'm willing to take the challenge.)

Universe that they disappeared to: Ascend-verse (Ascend is the name of a sci-fi novel I'm going through the planning stages of at the moment.)

Preferred point of return: Ruins of Manehattan

Preferred time of return: 1 year, six months before present day.

Writing example:

“So, what’s your name?” She asked for the fifth time, where – again – the biped didn’t respond.

Pinkie Pie released the button on the silvery device that was mounted on the wall, sat down, and thumped her hoof against her temple while muttering, “Think think think.”

And think she did. She thought about how she woke up on top of a metal crate with a lot of shiny two-legged creatures looking at her while pointing oddly shaped objects towards her. She thought about how they literally threw her into a small cube of a room that had a semi-clear orange wall which separated her from a room with even more of the creatures, only a few of which were looking at her. The others were too busy running around looking at various thingamabobs and doohickeys to so much as glance in her general direction. She thought about how machines came from the ceiling and sprayed a nasty smelly liquid all over her until she was soaked to the bone.

She thought even more about when she was shoved into the glass box that made a hissing noise when the door shut, cutting her off from the outside world, almost. There was still Mrs. Silent standing against the opposite wall, staring off into space. Despite her attempts of getting Mrs. Silent’s attention, she still stood there, feet spread, claw-things behind her back.

Her thoughts were cut off prematurely when Mrs. Silent suddenly snapped her feet together, placed one claw against her leg, the other next to, and slightly above, her right eye. Another biped walked in front of the other silvery device and – after talking the Mrs. Silent for a moment – pushed the button and spoke.

“Do you understand the words coming out of my mouth?”

Not knowing what to do, Pinkie tilted her head and blinked innocently. Mrs. Silent muttered something to the other biped, who didn’t respond.

“Entiende las palabras que salen de mi boca?

That got Pinkie’s attention. It reminded her of when Rainbow Dash tried to speak Griffic.

She shook her head. “What?”

Again, Mrs. Silent muttered something, and again the other didn’t respond.

“Comprenez-vous les mots qui sortent de ma bouche?”

“YES! Yes I do! I understand you clearly! This is so great! I can’t believe you know Equuish!“ Pinkie then gasped and started hopping up and down.

“Calme!” The other biped snapped.

Pinkie sat down and remained still as a statue. “Sorry,” she timidly said with an apologetic smile.

He – she realized the other biped was a male after he spoke Equuish – sighed and said, “Je suis vice-amiral Montgomery de la Marine des États-Unis. Qui êtes-vous?”[1]

She took in a large breath of air and gave a three minute long explanation of herself and her personality. When she was finished, Rear Admiral Montgomery was silent for a minute before he asked, “Je suis désolé de demander, mais pourriez-vous répéter que, lentement?”[2]

Pinkie nodded and repeated what she said, this time it only took three-and-a-half minutes. Rear Admiral Montgomery sighed again and shook his head. It was going to be a long day.

[1]I am Rear Admiral Montgomery of the United States Navy. Who are you?
[2]I’m sorry to ask, but could you repeat that, slowly?

What'cha think?

I like it. So it's a naval sci-fi thing?
Don't see any problems, just let me know what characters you'll be using, unless you're just using Pinkie Pie, in which case, ot's approved.

4123940 I'm just using Pinkie. And the Naval forces will be primarily taking the back burner when it comes to action.

That's fine. As I said, approved.
So, is Pinkie going to be some sort of pilot like Blueblood, or is she going to be more of a marine type boarder? Or are you going to leave it as a surprise?

Would be nice to see some extra vehicle users in the mix, though I'm not sure where you'd park a fighter in Manehatten, even if the place is mostly ruins.

4124427 Who said it was a fighter? If anything it'll be the fifth most powerful armor in my novel's universe.

EDIT: And that's it. No more spoilers.

So either mech or power suit. I think most of the returners have had access to the tech for power armour along the lines.

4124453 While she won't be showing up in one, "armor" has also been used to refer to tanks.

Another tanker? Whoop whoop. Destructive goodness from two high velocity cannons (or variants there of) Doubt yours can walk up cliffs though. Unless its a hover tank. :pinkiecrazy:

4126941
She won't be showing up in one of the tanks from my universe. "Why?" you may be wondering. They're as large as a city, with cannons powerful enough to take out a mountain. Which is nothing when compared to the most powerful weapon in my universe. I won't give you it's name, but I will say that a shot from three of them hitting the same spot at full powerful has enough explosive force to obliterate the moon... in theory at least.

Sounds like fun. An Imperitor Titan would be more so though :pinkiecrazy:

OK with have 2 tanks. Witcher/mutant Dragons. Red and Gilda from star wars and a wolf like twilight so that the ponies so far.

Sounds like a bolo or a 40K titan there, equipped with one heck of a main battery.

I wouldn't say that Jacinth or J'kreth are mutants, Spitfire and Nightshade are certainly mutated and the other four have gained a few things. If I can get my head in the game I'll post a bit about the sapients from the Dforgrym-verse, maybe some of the creatures as well. We might need something to keep the giant worm/serpent population down.

OK sorry just didn't know how to describe them.

4130295 Naw the mechs aren't that powerful. That weapon is on the flagship of the United States Navy's destroyer named Progenitus.

Character: Twilight Sparkle-
Has under gone many change is no longer full pony and has become like a wolf in many way but a cost though everything she has been though she has lost her sight but her sense of smell and hearing makes up for it. She can be severley crippled by a high picthed sound or an overpowering smell.

Disappered to: unkown she is inside a forest the whole time (place/planet is basically a giant forest)

Preferred point of return: Everfree forest.

Preferred time of return: 14 year after storm.

My first try at fimfiction writing.
Example

The everfree forest is an anomaly.
It was different to everywhere else to say the least and that ponies feared it and now after the storms it feared even more.

Many scientist had study the forest and had no reason for its being.
The cloud were black and wild as the creatures that were contained inside the forest erie interior. Creatures would feast upon one another to survive, but now that was common these day after the storm hit. The everfree itself didn't change but the creature inside they mutated and thing that looked they had popped of a fantasy novel. Animals with extra limbs stick out of there body covered in too or blood.
Creatures with blood dripping from the sockets of where their eyes had once been.

Well this is going to be painful… :facehoof: All right, first thing I'd like to point out with regards to the sheet. It says examples should be the departure or return of characters, this is neither. It also states the example should be 500-1000 words preferably, this is less than a third the lower number, and it has taken you getting on for two and a half weeks to put up, despite that you're the one that started this up. :ajbemused: I'll try to be relatively nice, but don't count on success. Why you didn't transfer over and edit the bit you had before I don't know, that's pretty much what Fenrisian and I did.

The everfree forest is an anomaly.

First off, it's 'Everfree Forest' - It's a place name, names are capitalised when they're referring to living beings, companies, places and certain items that I can think of off the top of my head. Case in point, our planet is called Earth, while the various types of ground we grow things in are 'earth' or 'soil'. Another example would be my own name, 'Robin' is the name version, 'robin' is referring to the bird with the red breast.

It was different to everywhere else to say the least and that ponies feared it and now after the storms it feared even more.

This whole sentence reads wrong, mostly due to one particular word being there when it is likely unneeded.

Many scientist had study the forest and had no reason for its being.

Scientists - plural, you've got more than one person studying something
Studied - tense should be past, as in they're done one studying the place because they're not getting time to any more, what with the monsters and hostile groups.
Had found no reason - missing word, it's usually a good plan to give things a read though, if you find that you jar from something, you need to look at that something.

Along with those, the sentence doesn't seem to go anywhere in particular, so maybe rethink what you're trying to tell us about the Everfree's past and rework or remove the sentence.

Clouds - you're referring to more than one, there for it's plural
Forest eerie interior - misspelling there, you said you use Word, that should have picked up on it, my version did, once it didn't auto-capitalise for a sentence start.
Days - more than one
Everfree - place name, again
Popped out of a fantasy novel - missing word.
Animals with extra limbs stick out of there body covered in too or blood. - Not sure what you're trying to say here, I'd probably either rewrite or drop that sentence entirely

Creatures with blood dripping from the sockets of where their eyes had once been.

Why is this on its own? Also, without people venturing into the location, why do we need to know about the creatures there? Even writing as Twilight experiences it, she's blind, she wouldn't see what she's fighting so there's no reason for you, when writing for her, to describe the look of a creature the way the rest of us do, at least not in any great detail.

Ouch… red everywhere, and you grew up in countries that speak and write in English as one of their major languages.

First thing I've got to ask is what sort of hardware you're using for writing these posts, is it a phone, tablet, laptop or desktop computer? Second thing is two fold - how much writing time do you actually have and what's your best and worst word count when writing for that time, because from reading your posts and seeing the delays, I'm wondering if it wouldn't be a good idea for you to take a few courses in touch typing, copy typing and typing from phone conversations, or heck, IM RPs, those can really push you to learn how to type fast and accurate, particularly with multiple characters. I should know, I spent a couple of years in one, with three main players, two common players and 1-2 rare players, most of us having multiple characters by the end of it.

Okay, that might have been a little harsher than I had intended, but I think some things bear repeating here. Firstly, double check your spelling and grammar, particularly tensing when writing a story. One of the fics I have written, when I first started it, I was switching tenses all over the place, it's usually an idea to stick to one, and most stories are third person past tense. Going along with that, either read it to yourself, have someone you know read it or have the computer read it before you post it, it'll help.

Second point, I think you need to work on your English a bit. I'd suggest grabbing some English books, particularly fiction, and reading through them. A lot of ideas I used to build my universe come from things I've read as much as anything else, I'm fairly sure the others can say similar. Along with that, just write shorts, don't really bother with context but seeing as we're waiting around, think about what Twilight went through over the years she has been away from ponies and write a scene or two a day, aim for around 250-1500 words in the scene and just write it, then go back over it and read it to yourself, see if it makes sense and if there's anything that jars you, if there is, correct it and store the scene for possible use.

Last point I'd make, which is more a general thing that anything else, is make sure you've got information on things that might be encountered around when you're working. For example, Twilight winds up in a forest world where she's helped by a wolf pack. Search on the net, see what types of wolves there are, where their typical territories are, how they hunt, etc, and then look up real world forests, see what sorts of trees are in them, what types of soil, temperature, weather, etc they endure and what creatures are likely to be in them and use that as your base for constructing the world Twilight ends up in. Keep the books or links handy as much as you can so you can go back to them when needed and pick up whatever might be giving you issues.

Still have school and has some family problem so haven't been writing anything or trying to lately.
But thanks for all the advice next spare time I get I do what you suggested or at least try to.

I'm writing in Google doc on a 2008 vista desktop.

Piece of advice for the future, never trust Google Docs with anything that's not locked down. I'm pretty sure they don't run a spell checker on there, much less anything else. Stick to Word and upload, preferably through a forum that has both a RTF editor and a BB code editor if you've got formatting on the document. It's a lot easier and a lot better at maintaining formatting to set everything up in Word, copy to a forum RTF editor, switch that to BB code editor mode and cut/paste the result into FIMFiction. Google docs is a bit persnickety and has I've never been fond of their products, most seem to miss things out that are pretty vital.

I have to agree with Ghathryn here, if we're being honest, this isn't anything like what we're looking for. Now the first bit that you wrote? That was pretty awesome, and the idea behind it is awesome, I'd really like to see this version of Twilight take off and be awesome, but you haven't exactly shown much here. I know that family, work etc comes first though of course, so if that's what is hampering you then clearly that's far more important, and I hope it all goes well for you.

Again thanks for all your consideration about this I'm going on a rafting trip this weekend when I get back I'll be writing.

(Run away)

Once again, this is the reason I do my writing on a local drive, particularly since my laptop seems to be 'odd' about connecting at times.

With regards to the trailer, I've glanced at it, couldn't really tell you much except that people around think that Glimmer is another anti-Twilight and possibly a communist. Not entirely sure what that cutie mark replacer thingy is supposed to be about yet. We'll probably find out and see if they actually do some destruction on things, since something like that, bad idea to leave lying around.
