As I fly around the town, trying to stay in the clouds to reduce my visibility, I hear gunshots go off. My eyes dart around to discern the direction, and they land on a few muzzle flashes. My eagle eyes quickly zoom in, and what I see makes me mad. "Sarge," I radio to Aegis, "I'm gonna go apeshit." with that I send myself hurtling towards a pony with a black cloak and katanas attacking one of my teammates.

From my spot on the cloud over the Eye, I sweep my EBR over the town, peering through my CCAS scope the whole time. Faintly, gunshots ring through the air, and muzzle flashes appear through my peripheral vision. >Sarge, I'm gonna go apeshit,< buzzes over the comms, the speaker being Avery, and through my scope, I sight her plummeting towards a definite hostile. With a sigh, I move my crosshairs over the tango's center mass and think, And to think that I was expecting nothin' to happen, and I pull the trigger.

I don't entirely want to be sitting out in the open when the action starts, so that' i can help, but I also don't want to leave a comrade unprotected. Several grunts have set up a protective ring around her, so she shouldn't be too badly off. I set up my rifle inside of a room adjacent to the terrace I was just on. Cracking the window open, I sit, waiting.

Opening a new pack of gum, I start chewing to pass the time, the incessant chewing of the gum overlapping the quietness of the room and the surrounding streets.

A loud crack echoes through the streets and sets the grunts and I into an active state, both of us now actively sweeping and looking for hostiles.

My chewing echoes through the dark room, making the silence a little more bearable.

A small cloud of blood and cloth bits spring from the wound on the pegasus, and he quickly falls to the cobbled street. "Eeyup. Didja get a picture? I got that at 600 meters." I see Avery land nearby, and she then speaks to Markus. Shifting my scope to sweep the surrounding area, I faintly notice a green flash of light, followed by the slight movement of leaves in a crosswind. Tensing for another enemy, I silently zero on the previous place I saw the light.

((PFC Avery's POV))
After Lens hit his mark, I grunt despondently at the theft of my kill. "Hey, you a'ight? You took a pretty hefty beating from such a weakling." I fail to notice the slight hum of a VTOL in the background.

((Sgt. Aegis's POV))
Scanning the window that Song was near prior to her assault, I notice that it was forced open, and I find a long strand of hair. Upon further examination, it reveals itself to be of red coloration. "Hey, Ward!" the unicorn in question turns around, grunting in affirmation. "Think you can do a tracking spell with that fancy thaumaturgy of yours?" He nods again, and takes the lock in his magic. He charges a spell, and ties the hair around his hoofheld compass. The needle points toward the strand, and spins around rapidly and randomly, until finally pointing in the direction of the Brick, obviously not close to being a northerly direction, and being the source of multiple gunshots and the general vicinity of Avery.

Lifting my rifle back into place, I look towards the specified area, slowly drifting the scope across the mountainside in order to ensure that I wasn't missing anything important. Halfway through the mountain, a small shimmer interrupts my viewing, before quickly slipping away to the right of my scope. Speeding up my scan, I flash my way across the mountain before flicking on my radio to report back.

"Sir, I had gotten a shimmer across my scope... I didn't have a visual on what it was exactly. if I may speak freely, sir, I don't like this. I think it's a trap. Someone's baiting us in."

I whisper in hushed tones over the radio, cautious of making any sound at this point, in case someone really is listening in.

With a quick tap, I shut off my radio, going silent. flicking my eyes across the streets, I dive out of the window, my gear shaking slightly in the wind. Flaring my wings, I catch air just before hitting the ground, slowing my fall and allowing me to land safely. With a dash, I jump into a nearby store for cover, shifting my rifle and clearing the rooms one by one. Finally at the back entrance, I lean out of the door before moving into the small alleyway, trotting slowly with my rifle raised.

I'm not liking this one bit, I think to myself as I follow the tracking spell towards the Brick. Occasionally, it wavered when the target moved, but otherwise it stayed the same. Upon reaching the Brick, I notice a dead pegasus on the ground, and I move closer to it, ignoring the rest of my team already on site. I move around the body, holding the compass aloft, and discover that this is not the pony I am looking for. Motioning for everyone to stay quiet, I listen carefully in the dark.

When I hear a slight hum of a VTOL engine, I snap my weapon in that direction, and I open my comms, "Tangos sighted. Weapons free."

I ignored Markus, favoring my mission parameters instead. I came here for an extraction, and to procure a perpetrator, so that is exactly what I'll do. I arrived at the treeline, Avery reluctantly on my six with her Titan launcher. Going prone, I motion for Avery to stay low, and I crawl forward through the underbrush. Just at the base of the mountain sat a helicopter, designation unknown, it's rotors spinning as they prepared to take off. "Ward to Aegis, I found the target. Permission to engage?"
