A rebellion commenced by Admiral Irongalley, the Battalion seeks to install him as king of Equestria to achieve the modernization and improvement of the nation through better education and a stronger military as well as an industrial economy.

Admiral Irongalley served the diarchy faithfully for many years, protecting its shores and leading many incursions into enemy waters. The thought of rebellion had never crossed his mind, until the day came when a new technology began to spread across the world.

Firearms first reached the gryphon's, and afterwards they fell in the hands of pirates and corsairs. The admiral watched in fascination as former sea rabble became dangerous foes to deal with, as their cannons obliterated small craft with terrifying ease.

Irongalley approached the princesses with the issue and tried to convince them to modernize the fleet and armies of Equestria by issuing firearms as a standard weapon for the soldiers to wield. His petition was refused, as the princesses thought Equestria did not need the weaponry since magic had seen them through many struggles time and again.

The admiral did not desist, and he asked once and once again for the army to be modernized and the economy to be industrialized to meet the rising smoke from the Gryphon Principalities.

The princesses had enough after a while, and it was not long after hearing his latest petition to reform the educational system for it to extend the years required of study before being allowed to apply for a job, that he was sent on a three-year long mission to protect Equestrian colonies near the Principalities' territory.

The admiral was given fifty war vessels and large amounts of gold to aid in the reconstruction of the colonies' defenses and armies. His fleet set sail with the due ceremonies and honors, as well as a widespread celebration in Port Hoof the night before his departure.

Irongalley never reached the colonies, as warships from Prince Sharpbeak intercepted his fleet beforehand. A great battle took place, with Equestrian vessels outnumbering the gryphon's, but still the losses were great, and victory was achieved at a great price.

Sharpbeak's vessels were armed with early cannons and arquebusiers, which granted him the advantage at long-range combat. Irongalley emerged victorious, but drenched in the blood of over half of his fleet. Three times the losses the gryphons faced before retreating.

In a rage, the admiral sought a rival prince and used the money given to him by the princesses to purchase cannons and mercenary ships and soldiers. He chased Sharpbeak and annihilated his fleet in a series of battles that extended his mission to last five years.

He eventually returned to Equestria, but he was not warmly received by the diarchs.

The city's populace cheered as he passed the streets and waved flags in his honor, but when his report was responded to by the princesses; it was with a detachment of royal guards meant to escort him to Manehatten for trial.

He was tried for violation of his orders and ignoring the main purpose of his mission, after which he was tried for treason for allying himself with a gryphon prince and employing his mercenaries in war.

The decision was swift and merciless. The admiral was to be taken back to Canterlot for execution on charges of high treason.

Irongalley was shackled and carried away in the dead of night, whereas he was taken through little known roads on his way to the capital. Unknown to either him or his captors, an ambush was waiting for them.

A group of captains from his fleet gathered their crews and set vigil on as many roads as they could that passed to Canterlot, and when the admiral's escorting party was spotted, they attacked. The battle was swift, as the sailors were battle-hardened and wielded arquebuses taken from the principalities.

They freed their admiral and fled for Fillydelphia, were the fleet still waited.

The captains were planning on escaping the nation, but the admiral decided against it and called a meeting with all of his captains and officers upon reaching his fleet. The rebellion was formed.

Irongalley and those that would follow him faced the remnants of the royal fleet and defeated them swiftly, marching into Fillydelphia without opposition from the locals afterwards, as he was still a war hero.

He was crowned king outside the city's castle, and his nation was formed.
