Depending how you see the Griffon kingdoms as (be the equivelent of the Holy Roman Empire (which, isn't all three but this massively weird thing of various germanic states including the germanic state of Prussia who was in this legal limbo and an elector for the Holy Roman Emperor) or a more family-friendly rendition of the Sengoku Jidai -aka the Waring States period of Japan- where if you aren't the hardest badass with an incredible mind... you're dead)... it might be interesting, 'interesting', or 'Gilda dies in ten minutes without Equestria guarding her 24/7'...

I was mostly expecting Gilda to run away from her destiny.

I'm actually working on a story that is close to this idea, and while she's not the heir she will end up (much to her own shock) on the throne.
