Wait. So they opend that pony up, stuffed him full explosives and then sent him back as a living booby trap? The bastard must have been high on painkillers in order to not feel that!
It has to be admitted as disgusting unorthodox as this is, it was pretty damn effective.
I like the sound of that, you don't just fuck with either the Currier or the lone Wanderer. You make sure they are dead before giving them a chance to protect themselves, escape, or fight back. pipboy sensitive mininuke trap.
My god... That is a really dangerous trigger. One scrap of light hits that while you're wiring it up, and your ass will need to be scraped off the wall. Devious though... Very devious.
all the loners and curiers, even at mesiah state, need to have abit of evil marks in orther to truly protect their respective wasteland. nice to see you reflected that.
I am surprised they didn't also fit a bomb on the underside of the cart and detonate that after the first explosion, a chance to capitalize on the lack of a doctor that their initial attack created.
But really, it should be expected that someone named the Currier would know how to send a message.
4169892 God damn it. That would have been brilliant. Have the cart-bomb go off first, then when the injured are taken to the doc, have the bomb-pony explode. That way, you're guaranteed a large number of kills.
4169942 Yup, not like the traumatized pony pulling it back would have had the presence of mind to check the cart for explosives. Oh well hindsight is 20/20, maybe Thomas didn't think of it until afterwords, no one is perfect after all. Also the cart detonating first would have made it less likely to catch all of their medical personal in the pony bomb as they would be spread out working on other victims and might have killed the bomb pony.
Also talking about how best to order the detonation of explosives to kill the most medical personal has left me wondering just how jaded video games and movies has left me.
Wow. I knew Thomas had an evil side, but I didn't know he could go total raider. I love it! I kinda feel bad for Bright though... as cocky as he was, I just got a 'young soldier thriving off a short victory' vibe off him. Not something that made him deserve that.
Also that part where he mentioned he met someone that took fingers for bounties, was that a nod toward Bounties or just something like the Regulators? Because Bounties and the rest of the Someguy series was amazing and it'd be cool if Thomas went through them despite them being mods. if I remember correctly Thomas's SPECIAL stats are modded as well.
4170611 Given how little I'm given of his past BEFORE being a package courier, feel free to speculate just as to why he's so calm about committing war crimes like that.
And while the original Thomas's SPECIAL was the result of using a mod, it is just as easy to accomplish it normal gameplay, as long as you don't mind sacrificing almost every perk in the process.
4169983 wouldn't have been too effective, the cart wasn't important enough to warrant a crowd. There were maybe three ponies close to the cart. Would have been stupid to chance blowing your cover (pun not intended) and throwing away that much ordinance for so few kills.
4171689 Wernt the mutilated bodies of the two other unicorns placed inside the cart? You would think that at least a few of them would have been busy trying to gather enough of them to give them a proper burial, or at least to depose of the bodies. Given the situation, even if the bomb had not killed many of them at all it would have caused them to become even more paranoid and restless, and cause them to exhaust their resources keeping an eye out for further attacks that may or may not come at all. Guerrilla warfare is as much about getting in the other guys head as it is about attacking them directly, and knowing that even that every trap the Courier lays for them may well have more then one layer will cause them to freak out and make mistakes they otherwise may have avoided.
4171726 true, but the rangers were annoyed at using the explosives in the pony. For a cart bomb to be as effective if under the cart(which would direct the blast at the ground, and wouldn't cause any significant shrapnel) you would need to use two times as much explosives. Keep in mind they left most of their ordinance in the town, and they are already low on ammunition and supplies.
Edit: never mind, they shoulda strapped the balefire egg to it.
4171977 The bomb was inside the pony. As for was killed/injured, the doctors, any patients, the kind mare and the poor stallion with the bomb in his chest.
One thing's for sure: this man is very efficient. It's amazing what you can do with human ingenuity when Geneva and Hague are nothing but craters in the ground.
4172119 Not aware of this mod. And in this case, this bounty hunter is not bringing the fingers as proof, but keeping them in a collection. For the record, it's the trigger fingers this bounty hunter takes.
This Thomas is not exactly the same as the one that features in Wayward Courier. Oh, the majority of their history, actions and morality are the same, but the devil is in the details.
I've suspected this for a while, but it's nice to have it confirmed outright. #calleditbitches
4172241 I dropped a hint in a much earlier chapter. In Wayward Courier Thomas says that he shot Caesar in the head. In this one, he says that he ripped off the man's face instead.
I await more. Also, if this was my fallout 2 melee character, they would need to only her at their target and watch her two intelligence, 10 strength, agility, and endyrance, coupled with five perception shatter the towns conquerors. Seriously, I once used her to punch an enclave soldier to death. Bare handed.
4173617 I fail to understand how you can't figure out that the bomb was inside the pony that was crudely stitched back up. I was as blatant as I could be without outright stating it...
4174835 Who got stitched up crudely? I fail to remember anyone needing stitches.
Think of this less as me being stupid and more of the fact that I missed ALL of the hints. Probably because they were too few and too subtle for me to pick up on.
Note that I don't ask who because I'm lazy, but because I have no idea where this may be without re-reading the chapter. And yes, I am lazy enough not to force myself to reread a chapter so soon after reading it the first time.
I hope my wording does not provoke you, as that is not my intent. My intent was to say 'What happened?' and is now to imply that these hints, as I call them, are too subtle for some readers. Give or take bad days.
“This isn’t exactly… orthodox, or sane, but hear me out.”
That was Thomas telling the Elder about his plan.
“Bring him in, so we can do this next part.”
That was the Elder following along with it.
When the unicorn woke up, his body felt heavy.
That's the first sign that something isn't quite right.
“When you got slammed into that post, it broke a few of your ribs,” the Courier explained casually.
Thomas lied, just to make sure that he was taken to the doctors as soon as possible.
“They… they said some of my ribs were broken,” he said in a daze. “Something about an infection.”
There's that lie again, only this time the unicorn is believing it.
Admittedly, it was not as obvious as I would have liked. But that was part of the point, to be vague so that the unwitting suicide bomber was a shock to the reader.
so the explosive material in his guts, and the detonator, or sensor whatever, on the outside, if you piss this man off, may God help you, or not, cuz you most likely did something very heinous, like enslaving 4167378 Joker grade effective 4167607 I shit you not, I didn't read that until now
Oh god... Jack (my Courier) is nearly uncaring. He does what he has to do, and never shows emotion. Get that shell to crack, and you'll have Armageddon 2.0 on your heels. But this? I'm not sure even Jack could pull this off, unemotional and ruthless as he is.
Hmm... if it was a balefire bomb, you could say that they've had a falling out

The Joker did something similar in one of the Batman movies
That is how you get shit done!

This is the kind of thing that'll get us put into government watchlists.

4170660 I honestly haven't put much thought in what he could have been before Vegas. Now I can't stop thinking of ideas. Scary thoughts
4171041
He mentions having worked on a Brahmin ranch. And earlier, there were some painful memories about someone called 'Tamsin'.
4171144 Thanks for reminding me. Now time to look back and theorize.
4167495 unless you set it to arm 1 minute after there is no light visible on the sensor

Except that the Rangers have a B.E.L.
I don't understand. Where was the bomb and who was killed/injured?

You know, you could say he executed that strike with surgical precision.
Fingers, Bounty hunter(singular), are you by chance referencing a mod called new vegas bounties? Or just the Regulators?

Alright, yeah. I see what I thought where.
I thought this was more about the sawing-up of the bodies from earlier/that we saw later.
Didn't see that line at all. Sometimes I miss lines when reading. Most of the time I miss enough to tip me off, but not in this case.
I thought that was just an effect of him being groggy. A common phenomena in my experience.
I believed him too. _-_
Thanks for helping me out. Sorry to say I didn't get shocked, only confused.
I'm more of a Bumfuck, Iowa man myself.
