Okay!
So, the third season has well and truly begun, with its first "rank and file" episode after the two-parter.
A review follows!
...Spoilers, by the way.
I was entertained as hell, and despite a couple of "someONE" type writing oopsies, I thought the episode was well-paced and well-written. Pinkie showed some depth as WELL as insanity, nicely exhibiting her child-like yet oddly perceptive "Fool" persona, and Rainbow Dash showed the enjoyment of Pinkie's company she acquired during Season One, and the love of reading she acquired during Season Two.
Twilight remained her analytical, slightly neurotic, every-problem-looks-like-an-OrangeFrog-when-all-you-got-is-a-Horn self, and played off Pinkie(s) well.
AJ said and did things, which is always a plus.
Fluttershy was SHY, not TRAUMATIZED, and had some amusing lines. Her tongue-in-cheek comment about avoiding fun "for Pinkie" was adorable.
And Rarity was... dating Fancy Pants.
I'm sorry but look at the situation: A member of Canterlot's upper crust just HAPPENS to be in town on the same day Rarity gets dressed up in opera gloves, a bustle and an up-do. She stays covered as if wanting to keep her outfit perfectly spotless. And she complains bitterly about the havoc the Pinkies wrought at her place, yet we aren't shown the scene.
CLEARLY, Rarity and Fancy were exchanging bon-mots and witty double-entendres over some bubbly and horse-d'ouvres, and just as they leaned in... FUNFUNFUNFUNFUNFUNFUNFUNFUN. : P
But anyways, I digress.
In summary, I thought this episode was plenty of fun, worth a rewatch, and a good omen for the content still to come.
Agreed, I consider it a major step up compared to the rather drab and forgettable two part intro.
Not to mention it was clearly shown that Pinkie (or at least her clones) has ADHD
Needless to say: I was satisfied
Don't forget about the obvious fanfiction reference. AbsoluteAnonymous must be smiling ear to ear somewhere.
What disturb me was Twilight's casual use of death magic.
Turn innocent creatures into orange hybrids, no problem.
Turn apples into oranges. AJ says nothing.
Potentially killing sentient clones for the crime of not sitting still. Yikes.
And what is with over used hidden book in the library gag? That's like 3-4 books they have found in Golden Oaks.
You know, now someone is almost certain to write a clopfic where one or more Pinkies interrupt Rarity and Fancy mid-coitus. "This looks like fun!" they'll shout as they swan dive right into all of that.
I think perplexing piles of Pinkies has the potential to be as big a fiction prompt as "changelings are now a thing; get writing."
Still, a very good episode. I was pleasantly suprised that an episode could have that much Pinkie and not exceed my tolerance threshold.

I doubt it was permanent. Twilight's enchantment work in the past has worn off after a while. I give her latest abominations against harmony a day tops before they revert.

Couldn't've said it better! Really, this may be my new favorite Pinkie episode. Those fingers, though... those are the stuff of nightmares.
By the way, am I the only one who thought Fluttershy sounded kind of off? Like, more subdued than usual?

Personlly, I'm a sucker for Fancy Pants (which is weird because he does not wear pants) and Rarity shipping as long as she is not paired with Spike or Twilight then I'm ok with her when it comes to romanic....though she still a bitch and least favorite pony in my eyes.
And Pinkie with four fingers.....why do I sense many Lyra/Pinkie fics coming and loving it?
All in all very great episode, can't wait till next week.

Oh well. On another note, I totally LOVED the new episode! Especially the rhyme. "I solemnly swear not to be scared at the prospect of being doubly there." I watched that scene five times just for that line!
Also, I think the show uses 'anyone' as well as 'anypony'. It's like 'pony' is the stand-in for 'body'.

I've seen a lot of speculation about that. One theory is that she's going to be turned into the next Princess or something, but I think that there's going to be a bigger role for her to play aside from 'Bearer of the Element of Magic', aside from Alicorn status.

But it would probably have to be drawn out over several seasons. None of the episodes really have anything quite that dramatically life-changing (except for the first episode, but that's the first episode after all), and I suspect that if the just straight-up Alicorn her at the end of season three, that would have to be the show finale. Although, it would sort of explain why there are only thirteen episodes so far...

I read a few fanfics an got pretty tired of it fast. If they do make her an Alicorn/Princess/Goddess then you can bet many people are going to be pissed for I know a lot who hate seeing Twilight become such....then again she could be with Spike and they could fall in love and it could be canon for he's a dragon that will live a very long time....you know what, I'm liking that idea.

Thank you Hope.....and accourding (spelled that wrong) to a random auther friend who commented on my profile page I'm a famous bastard.....either because I am very, very, very loyal towards my author friends and always read and review each and every story of theirs that I really like or I comment on so many things.
Plus I'm never one to judge if someone likes something that I myself do not and will still be there for them if they ever need any help, ideas or advice.
For example....I DESPIE Spike/Rarity romance pairings, my personal favorite being Spike/Twilight (Or Spilight) for many reasons yet I have many friends who love Spike/Rarity....so even though I dislike that pairing and Rarity I never hate the fan or author themselves, you know?

: It's because of the fac that you can clearly see in canon that Rarity thinks of Spike nothing more then a friend, when ever he tries to get his chance at romance she shoots him down, not just because he's a baby (maybe) but it might also be becausethey are two different species and she wishes for a stallion (such as when she went after Prince Blueblood).
She looks into his eyes and see's a friend, nothing more she even sliently admitted it when they were falling to their deaths. He slaves SO HARD to get her to notice himk and not only does the littel guy get his hear ripped out it gets tore to peices in front of his face.
Rarity's a bitch, you can tell form her voice and the way she acts, while Rainbow may have a lot of pride in her at least she does not crush the hearts of those who admire her as he's done for two (maybe three) years now...so yeah.
I DESPISE Spike/Rairy, that being said all my author friends (which I now count you amoung them
) know that know thart I will never read, reivew or the GODS FORBID write one such romantic fic.....that is not to say I don't have anything against my friends who like it just, you know...personal option.
